I think my favorite form of narrative catharsis is in 2017 DuckTales and that it's Dewey's own fault that he isn't named turbo.
Because it's weird that Donald wouldn't fulfill his thought to be dead sisters last wishes even if the names are a bit weird. Unless you look back in Season 2's Last Christmas. Donald clearly knew at the end that Dewey was Bluey, the family members from the future that visited him and Della from the future that one time.
Probably soon after Della disappeared I bet, after looking back on how Dewey was so emotional to child Bella, Donald probably guessed that future family member was his own nephew. But the question remains.
Which one?
Donald had three eggs to look over, and he didn't know which one of the three eggs would be the kid from the future. Donald didn't really have much to go on. He was a kid when he met the time traveler and only knew that their name was something -uey.
Not wanting to break the time line, when the triplets were born Donald just gave them all similar sounding name just to be safe. Thus we get Huey, Dewey and Louie.
So Dewey has only himself to blame for not being named turbo

Kind of a wild theory but hear me out: what if Morro, being the ghost he is, knows how to heal a shattered soul because he is literally A SOUL. DO YOU SEE THE CONNNECTIONS?!?

JOJOLands Theory: A Case for Acca Howler as Part 9's Main Villain
Chapter 21 of Part 9 (and every chapter release in general) has changed my brain chemistry and I need to talk about it desperately
Spoilers for The JOJOLands Chapter 21 (and all JoJo parts) below the cut!
Howler as a Budding Villain
As of JOJOLands chapter 21, Acca Howler has had a very interesting yet not very impressive showing for the audience. He's nothing like any other JoJo antagonists, even the secondary mid-part antagonists.
He lacks the imposive and authoritative aura that the others have. In fact, he appears more like a naive and spoiled brat (fun fact: he is older than Pucci). He does not remember who he's hired to do his bidding, and seems to have even less backbone than his subordinates (compare this to the likes of DIO and Diavolo, who incited loyalty and struck fear into their underlings). Key West has to basically tell him "stop being a little wimp and lock in, you're supposed to be the final boss."
Tumblr media
Howler's introduction is also him being instantly put on the backfoot from the main gang's actions. Compare this to the introductions of any part's major antagonists; even one of the less intimidating villains like Red Hot Chili Pepper from Part 4 immediately killed Keicho, showing him as a force to be reckoned with.
Right now, Howler is a manchild who is already folding under the first bit of pressure from the protagonists. He is not worthy of the title of main part villain; he's barely even worthy of being a mid-part antagonist. By the end of the story, however, I believe he will certainly be one of the two. He just has too much backstory and importance just for him to be discarded within the next few arcs.
Howler will need to go through a lot of pains and trials, but I think he still has strong potential to become Part 9's main villain. Araki's plans for Jodio involve his "journey of growth" into the more heroic figure of a Joestar from his current state as a "scumbag". Howler could develop in parallel with him to become worthy of the status of "Final Boss".
Tumblr media
Howler with an ACT Stand?
To complement a possible character development arc for Howler, it would be perfect for him to have an evolving Stand; specifically, an ACT stand.
ACT Stands have historically been used in JoJo to demonstrate major character growth over time in their users. Both Koichi and Johnny started out weak-willed at the beginning of their parts compared to their Stand user contemporaries, but by the end become among the bravest and most selfless of them.
I believe that Howler, as of now, has too weak of a will to be the owner of a powerful Stand. That may be why it only manifested partially in chapter 17 in response to his strong emotions (like Koichi in early Part 4 summoning egg Echoes).
Tumblr media
It will take a massive turnaround on Howler's part if he has to turn from a manchild to someone who can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with villains like DIO. Not only would Howler having an ACT Stand be the perfect way to visualize that development, it would also serve to continously raise the stakes for our protagonists.
SpeKculation for Howler's Stand Name
What name Howler's Stand will have is unpredictable. It could be a King Crimson (KC) song since Howler is a reference to them, but Part 9 has been 50/50 so far with character's names matching musical references with their Stands.
(honestly this section is partly me coping for another KC reference and mostly an excuse for me to talk about KC lmao)
King Crimson's 80s era released a trilogy of albums, the first two of which have already been referenced in Part 9 (Matte Kudasai from Discipline and The Howler from Beat). Thus it stands to reason to complete the trilogy of references with the third album: Three of a Perfect Pair. There are two JOJOLands theory videos by BatuTetric (1 and 2) that talk more about this; they are interesting and I recommend that any Part 9 fans watch them.
On that third album is the track Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part 3, the third installment in a five-part series of songs spread out over KC's discography. It would be a great name for an evolving Stand, going from Part 1 all the way to Level Five.
This additional fact may just be a funny coincidence, but Howler also does seem to have an obsession with feeding himself and his flight attendants/lovers fancy dashi stock (broth). Aspic is broth set into a gelatinous form (usually with other foods placed inside it). The name Larks' Tongues in Aspic evokes the vibes of some exotic and expensive dish, which seems like the type of name that a rich brat like Howler would pick.

Bill/Fleur/Lavender
is this anything??
Lavender surviving the attack and not becoming a werewolf because that night was not a full moon but now not only is she scarred which she absolutely hates
but has to deal with all the extra emotional issues and weird changes to her body that she wasn't expecting
the random bouts of anger
the stronger sense of smell
whatever else that you think are fun side effects those are like the main two I've explored before
point is!
Everything sucks!
But while in the hospital Fleur ends up visiting her and getting attached because of the similar situation to Bill and ends up taking the poor girl under her wing and getting very very attached very fast
Like Bill looks at Fleur looking at Lavender once and is just knows what she's after and just gives in without question
like that very night is talking to Fleur like
"Alright what is the plan here?"
"We invite her to live with us at the cottage."
"And if she says no?"
"She won't"
And Bill doesn't believe that but also knows by now that he's not going to be able to talk her out of it.
And when Fleur does ask Lavender agrees with very little convincing and then it just escalates from there
the whole time Lavender is not even considering they Like her but falling for them regardless and suffering
While Fleur is already head over heels and acting it
And Bill's over here falling a lot more slowly through the similar situation

"Usually." He repeats, but shrugs. Sure. Why not. "I'll keep that in mind." He can knock if he's picking Ichigo up for a date. Though, with a key now, he'll probably just let himself in. Not when Ichigo's asleep, of course, because he's seen the way Ichigo wakes up sometimes.
He arches a brow. "Why? You tryin' to lose weight?" Which is a joke, because there's no way. "No you don't. You need to give yourself a break and heal, idiot. And eat."
He jingles his keys a little, held by his apartment key. "Yep." He tugs the door closed behind him, locking up, before turning to follow to the stairwell. His attention slides over to Ichigo and he smirks a lopsided expression, "I know." But for as confident as he is, he preens under that little compliment anyway. "Thanks. So do you."
He pauses, and kind of hates to concede, but yeah, ok. Can’t move in without a key, that’s true. Still. He narrows his eyes a little because it sounds like a bullshit excuse to have a key he shouldn’t have yet. He waves it off. “I would have made a key for you if you didn’t already have one.” It doesn’t bother him that much, and he’s come to like Ichigo’s company enough that he doesn’t mind if Ichigo shows up and lets himself in. He looks back over a shoulder though, “Do they? If we’re tryin’ to be proper, then I think I was supposed to pick you up, since I’m the one with the car.” But that’s not what they agreed on, and since when have they been proper?
It doesn’t take him long to grab his wallet and keys, his phone is already in his hand, and slides a basic folding knife into a pocket, so the clip sticks out.
Then he returns and flashes a grin finally. “Ready?”

BOOK REVIEW 📖
This is the one for February – I was reminded of this book half way through the month and decided to reread it again because I couldn't remember how it ended; plus a short mystery is always nice to read (side note: this ended up as an ebook read bc I couldn't remember where in my storage boxes I have my copy – it's in storage because it's a paperback edition and old and I don't want it to die on me yet lol)
#ben picks up reading again#ben rambles about shit#hewehewhehehewhehw I've forgotten to upload these for the last two months LMAO#not to worry I am at least still reading :D#alrighty this is for the most part spoiler free (execpt where indicated)#it is a very entertaining mystery that feels like a game of cluedo and you really enjoy how everything comes together at different points#so much that it has you going back to see how the hell you missed a detail and going AHA#but yeah counts as a reread but it was so long ago and I'd forgotten practically everything about it that its like a new read#which is a bonus bc I like figuring out mysteries in books and going along with stuff to see if I'm right at the end#not to much analysis in this review like the last book as I feel it didn't need it#each character is pretty likeable with some unlikable moments sprinkled in#also I really love how the POV switches and flows easily between each of them which is what makes this book so easy to follow along with#insight on when i first read it#i was in fifth grade and we had a reading club sort of thing that our teacher picked us for#like a greatbooks fishbowl sort of thing instead of just our regular reading/comm arts time in class#i think it was the last one's we read for that year because I don't remember any after it#anyway we had to staple the last couple of chapters together so we wouldn't be able to know the ending nor the stuff leading up to it#that way we could play along and try to solve it ourselves#we had a betting pool sort of thing going with candy to see who could guess correctly#just a box full of sticky notes with whatever theories we wanted to include with the bet#and a whole wall with those large paper pad sheets that teacher's would have for their easels in order for us to connect the dots on things#yeah we went into it#kind of wondering if we ever got to the end or if something came up that we couldn't finish the book like i sort of remember#our tutor missing a couple of weeks and then state testing and then it was just the end of the year and we were turning in the books to her#anyway just more admin lore

the goblin in my brain says “draw that old man grieving” and i have no choice to obey. anyways i know they snuck domitian’s corpse off and cremated him, but fuck that i’m gonna use artistic license anyway. i read somewhere that nerva might have been domitian’s guardian during titus and vespasian’s judean war crimes jubilee, and i can’t help but wonder what he felt after the assassination. obviously he was picked to be emperor afterward and the senate carried out damnatio memoriae, but was that something he wanted? most of his reign seems to center around trying to keep everyone in government happy (read: not murdering him or anyone else). what won out in his mind, knowing the man was a tyrant or missing the boy whose father he knew?
hell if i know. i’m just the guy that draws the things and thinks about the old dead dudes. tumblr dot com look at my post

dr. jacobo grinberg, the scientist who went missing for researching shifting 🗝️
Tumblr media
the man, the myth, the legend. being a keen enthusiast of the human brain from a young age, dr. jacobo grinberg was a mexican neurophysiologist and psychologist who delved into the depths of human consciousness, meditation, mexican shamanism and aimed to establish links between science and spirituality.
grinberg's theories and research can be tied to reality shifting, seeing as he explored the fusion of quantum physics and occultism. being not only heavily established in the field of psychology but also a prolific writer, he wrote about 50 books on such topics. he was a firm believer of the idea that human consciousness possesses hidden and powerful abilities like telepathy, psychic power and astral projection.
the unfortunate loss of his mother to a brain tumour when he was only twelve not only fuelled his interest in the human brain but also pushed him to study it on a deeper level, making it his life’s aim.
he went on to earn a phd in psychophysiology, established his own laboratory and even founded the instituto para el estudio de la conciencia - the national institute for the study of consciousness.
despite sharing groundbreaking and revolutionary ideas, his proposals were rejected by the scientific community due to the inclusion of shamanism and metaphysical aspects. on december 8th, 1994, he went missing just before his 48th birthday. grinberg vanished without a trace, leaving people thoroughly perplexed about his whereabouts. some believe he was silenced, while others believe he discovered something so powerful and revolutionary that changed the entire course of reality, or well, his reality.
grinberg's work was heavily influenced by karl pribram and david bohm's contributions to the holographic theory of consciousness, which suggests that reality functions the same way as a hologram does. meaning, reality exists as a vast, interconnected macrocosm. it even suggests that all realities exist among this holographic structure.
lastly, it also proposes that the brain does not perceive reality, rather actively creates it through tuning into different frequencies of existence.
this not only proves the multiverse theory (infinite realities exist), but also the consciousness theory (we don’t observe reality, but instead create it).
grinberg’s most notable contribution was the syntergic theory, which states that, “there exists a “syntergic” field, a universal, non-local field of consciousness that interacts with the human brain." - david franco.
this theory also stated that
the syntergic field is a fundamental and foundational layer of reality that contains all possible experiences and states of consciousness.
the brain doesn’t generate consciousness, it instead acts as a receiver and its neural networks collapse the syntergic field into a coherent and structured reality.
reality is created, not observed.
we can access different variations of reality (which is the very essence of shifting realities)
the syntergic theory is even in congruence with the universal consciousness theory (all minds are interconnected as a part of a whole, entire consciousness that encompasses all living beings in the universe).
grinberg concluded that
all minds are connected through the syntergic field
this field can be accessed and manipulated by metaphysical and spiritual practices, altered states of consciousness and deep meditation.
in conclusion, the syntergic theory proposes that our consciousness is not a mere byproduct of the brain, but rather a fundamental force of the universe.
grinberg was far ahead of his time, and even 31 years after his disappearance, the true nature of reality remains a mystery. regardless, the syntergic theory helps provide insight and a new perspective on how we access and influence reality.
summary of grinberg’s findings:
the brain constructs reality
other realities exist and can be experienced
other states of consciousness exist and can be experienced
consciousness is not limited
all minds are connected through the syntergic field
shamanic, spiritual, metaphysical and meditative practices can alter and influence our perception of reality.

WELP, i honestly believe that for most people, the most valuable aspects of duo were teaching you what does and doesnt work for your brain and offering (poor) courses in languages with fewer available resources ANYWAY!
DUO IS FRICKING DEAD GUYS
Tumblr media
rip duo-
Tumblr media
fricking crap.. omg nooo
#if you speak one of the 13 or so available languages and you use duo premium#wait until its on sale for $160 and get a babbel lifetime subscription#im using it to study dutch#but i usually use it for polish#and i practice my weak skills in french (speaking)#it doesnt have many languages but a lifetime subscription to good language lessons#plus the vocab saving feature#is worth it if you are learning one of their languages and you still want a lot of structure and guidance#its a bit of an adjustment to lose the gamification but im so happy i switched#plus one purchase for LIFETIME ACCESS?? if you wait till its on sale its only $160 which is a lot of money#but if you can afford it and you are interested the value really is there#well it has some shortcomings. you can also get a subscription to one or all languages#but lifetime is ALL THEIR LANGUAGES#there are also free services which i still think outperform duolingo but you have to mix and match#one of the selling points of duolingo is that its an all in one service#in theory. really you need to do outside research to get the most out of it#esp without premium#but it saves some effort being told what to do... at the price of some efficiency#since you cant tailor your experience#also advice if you want to achieve a higher level of fluency even starting from 0 in babbel#go to courses and select “the babbel language courses” which advertises a number of words and sentences#and start there#then once you have a few of the most commonly used words under your belt#once you start noticing differences in sentence structure or anything else that you dont immediately get#you know. forms of verbs or tenses or whatever#go to courses grammar and go through some of those#also . you can absolutely go out of order. pick units that interest you. AND.#as soon as possible start working on comprehending speech in the target language#look for their recommendations for podcasts for your level#a bit above is ok. whatever works for you. just try to connect the speech to the written form
