CTR: Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled (2019) Review
[This review is a continuation of my Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy review. Please read that (and by extension my whole Crash Bandicoot review saga) first.]
In 2019, Activision Blizzard released Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled, a from-the-ground-up remake of Crash’s racing title. I have mixed feelings about this remake. On one hand, I think it’s great and it’s an objective improvement over the original. On the other hand, I have big issues with it. Both game design issues and moral issues. Let’s just jump into the comparison.
Firstly, the obvious: graphics. While I had my issues with the artstyle in N. Sane Trilogy, I don’t have them here. CTR barely has you look at your character so your attention is fully focused on the environments you’re racing through, and I think they look incredible. This game can look stunning across the board. Lots of very pretty levels. Coco Park is probably my favorite in terms of visuals. However, there’s a major issue with the graphics, and that’s the performance. As I've mentioned earlier, this game only runs 30 FPS on all consoles, even the PS4 Pro and the PS5 with no next gen update on the horizon. The resolution is decent at least, on PS5 anyway. On Nintendo Switch, the game is locked to an ugly 720p, even docked. Honestly, this is unacceptable. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe looks just as pretty as this game and it runs a crystal clear 1080p and a buttery smooth 60fps on Switch. The fact Crash can’t even manage 60 on PS5 is pathetic. What makes it worse is that Nitro Fueled never got a PC release. So that means that not only is there no official way to play the game on PC, but there’s also no official way to play the game with a decent frame rate. However, that’s not to say there’s no way to play the game at 60fps. Since this game is on Switch, it can be emulated with Yuzu, and it runs flawlessly. On Yuzu, you can upscale the game to 1440p and beyond and you can also apply a simple 60fps patch. Now you can play the game with some decent visuals. You are held back by the Switch’s inherent visual drawbacks, but it’s worth it for the frame rate. If a fan can get this game running at 60fps, then they have no excuse.
Well graphics aside, how well does the gameplay hold up? The gameplay on the whole is mostly unchanged. There are subtle downgrades though, mainly to jumps. It’s simultaneously harder to land high jumps due to awkward collisions and easier to overshoot jumps due to their new momentum physics. There are other changes too, but they’re more subtle. Of course, none of the tracks were redesigned with the new physics changes in mind, so it simply plays worse, much like the N. Sane Trilogy. However, I don’t think it’s a game ruiner here like it was in Crash 1. These changes are, like I said, subtle. They’re only really noticeable if you compare the games back to back. So while Nitro Fueled does have worse gameplay, it’s barely noticeable so it's not a deal breaker.
Besides, unlike N. Sane Trilogy, Nitro Fueled is far more than just the same game again with prettier graphics and worse gameplay. The N. Sane Trilogy only had one original thing in the whole game, being a post launch level. Nitro Fueled is jam packed with an insane amount of new content. We have an absolutely massive roster with 56 playable characters, all of which having plenty of unique skins. We also have an insane number of kart parts. Between bodies, tires, paint jobs, and stickers the amount of unique kart combinations is limitless. We have 40 tracks, all of which having their own time trials with different time crate placements and the new ring challenge mode with various ring placements. We also have battle mode, which itself has a good handful of maps with a bunch of different battle modes. They even remade all of the content from Crash Nitro Kart and just included it with this game. Combine that with the remade Adventure mode and a ton of stuff I didn’t mention, and this game is fucking insane with how much content it has. Even if the gameplay changes were bad enough to be really noticeable, the amount of content this game has alone would justify playing it.
This is a great remake! So how did they fuck it up?
When I was just boasting about all this game’s content like its character count and customization options, I left out one crucial detail: how to unlock that content. The vast majority of this game’s content is locked behind the Pit Stop Shop. The Pit Stop Shop is a Fortnite-style store where a small collection of random items will be available for purchase for that day only. The next day everything will refresh. This store is online only, so if you don’t have an internet connection, you can’t buy anything. That means that most of the content on the disc/cartridge can’t be accessed without an internet connection and presumably once the Pit Stop Shop servers go down, so will most of the game. It gets worse though. How do you buy these items? You buy them with Wumpa Coins. How do you get Wumpa Coins? Well, either by grinding by playing online matches to get pitifully small amounts of coinage or by, you guessed it, spending money on microtransactions. Good ol’ Activision Blizzard. We all saw this coming, right? Let’s not forget that the whole reason this company even exists in the way it does today is because Activision wanted to jump on the live service bandwagon.
However, I wouldn’t blame you for thinking this game wouldn’t have this bullshit considering that, quite literally, one month before launch the developers told us that this game wouldn’t have microtransactions at all. Then the game came out, and no microtransactions in sight. Everyone praised the game for not doing that in their reviews. Then a month after launch, after the positive reviews had gone out and after a lot of people already bought the game and got deeply invested in it, Activision announced they were adding microtransactions to the game. Not only that, but the in game shop “coincidentally” started upping the prices of everything within the shop. They made unlocking basic cosmetics a hell of a lot grindier all for the sake of pushing people into wasting their money on this crap. How utterly despicable, especially in a game aimed towards children.
On the bright side, at least the online was good, right? Crash Team Racing is a game I’d love to have an online mode so I can play with other people. Adding an online mode to a CTR remake sounds like an incredible idea, and it is! Well, in concept at least. The online in Nitro Fueled was dead on arrival. Not even a few months after launch passed before people stopped playing. Gee, I wonder what happened to this game within a few months of launch that would turn off a lot of players. HMM. Anyway, it would take ages to find a full match, and when you did it wasn’t worth it. The most dedicated players were too advanced and the game had no matchmaking, so casual players will get destroyed and just stop playing. The characters were unbalanced. Every character was assigned an arbitrary class, and some classes were simply better than others. If you were a big Coco fan but you wanted a speed focused character, you were shit out of luck. Large portions of the roster weren’t even worth playing. The online didn’t even have servers! It was all peer to peer, which just made lag and disconnections even more of an issue. It also didn’t help the wait times either. That was all within a few months of launch. Nowadays, the game is completely dead. The only places to find a good race is in private servers with friends. Even worse is that their “live service” gave up not even a year after launch. The game was released in June 2019 and the last update was March 2020. What a joke.
Keep in mind that these past few paragraphs were based not on my own personal experience. I wasn't there at launch and I based this review off of an offline-only Yuzu version of the game. It's possible that people were exaggerating or maybe some things are fixed now. Feel free to take some of that with a grain of salt, but honestly nothing that I've heard from others then repeated here sounded remotely far fetched to me and a lot of it was backed up by a lot of other people's personal accounts. So while it's possible some of this might not be true, I believe all of it and I would never intentionally lie to people.
In conclusion, Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled was a great remake that was ruined by unbelievable greed. I’d expect nothing less from Activision Blizzard, one of the worst companies making video games today between their anti-consumer practices, their anti-employee practices, and just their general discrimination against marginalized groups. Truly they’re just anti-everyone (except their top dogs). Look, if all you care about is the gameplay and the amount of content that’s technically on display, it’s not an awful game. It is fun and the content is still there, but I just can’t recommend this game on either a product level nor on a moral level to anyone. If you want to experience Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled, the best way to is simply emulate the game with 60fps and all the Pit Stop Shop content unlocked from the get go. That will mean that you won’t be able to play the game online, but no one was using the online anyway from what I've heard. Unless you were planning on joining an online private community for this game or were planning on playing it online with your friends, there’s no reason to play this game via the official means. I’m aware that I’m suggesting piracy, but Activision Blizzard is awful so fuck them. Piracy is fine, at least in their case. It’s always moral to pirate games that were being sold by awful corporations.
Now with all that said, I’m done talking about Crash Bandicoot for now. I could go into more detail into the era of games in-between after Naughty Dog left and before the modern day revival began, but I'm honestly tired of this orange marsupial. But still, 6 essay reviews (8 if you count the multiple parts) over the course of 5 days. That's definitely a new record to me. I haven't posted anything on Tumblr here in a while, so consider this an apology I guess.
Oh who am I kidding? No one reads these things.
Well regardless, that's all folks.

In June 2013, Andy Gavin suggested ways to revitalize the series. Fellow co-creator Jason Rubin, said he was hopeful that Activision would "Bring Crash back to their glory days and that the character is still very dear to fans between 18–49 years".Ī new design of Crash Bandicoot was spotted in a photo from the Vicarious Visions's studio, raising rumors that a new game might have been in development, though this was later confirmed to be concept art from a previously cancelled Crash game. And I would love to find a way to bring him back, if we could."Īndy Gavin, cofounder of Naughty Dog and co-creator of Crash Bandicoot, has said that he would love to see an HD version of the marsupial's first four games, or even a full blown reboot. Those were some of my favorite video games growing up. In a Kotaku interview with then-Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg regarding the future of the Crash series, he said, "I don't have anything official to announce, but I can speak as an individual, I love Crash Bandicoot. Sane Trilogy, the Crash Bandicoot franchise had been on hiatus for approximately six years, the last entry being released in 2010.

It also features remastered audio and cutscenes, including new recordings of the games' dialogue given by the franchise's more recent voice actors.

The trilogy adds new features across all three games, including unified checkpoints, pause menus and save systems, including both manual and automatic saving, time trials, which were first introduced in Warped, and the ability to play most levels in each game as Crash's sister, Coco. Like in the original games, Crash uses spinning and jumping techniques to defeat enemies, smash crates, and collect items such as Wumpa Fruits, extra lives and protective Aku Aku masks. Each game features Crash Bandicoot traversing various levels in order to stop Doctor Neo Cortex from taking over the world. Sane Trilogy is a collection of remasters of the first three games in the Crash Bandicoot series Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back and Warped. It received generally favorable reviews from critics, and sold over 10 million copies by February 2019.Ĭrash Bandicoot N. The game was first released for PlayStation 4 in June 2017, with versions for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One being released in June 2018. It is a compilation of remasters of the first three games in the Crash Bandicoot series: Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back, and Warped all which were originally developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation during the 1990s. Sane Trilogy is a platform game developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Activision.

Just a little remake of a little gift I’d give to Branch a few months ago
Tumblr media
Hey, everyone! I know this post here looks VERY familiar, because I made a picture like this back in December, and the reason I made it is because there have been fans of the Trolls franchise who made human AU fan fictions of Branch and Poppy, and since video games don’t exist in the Trolls world (yet, not that I know of), I thought I would give Branch three video game consoles to try out, along with six of the best games I could find for each system (along with that Superman game, which is meant to be a little prank, as that game is considered one of the worst games ever made).
I’m sure you all know what these three systems are, but for those of you who don’t know, I’ll explain.
The big black system on the left is Sega's 32-bit CD-based video game console, made as the successor to the 16-but Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, the Sega Saturn, released in May 1995.
As you can see, I changed two of the games I would pick out for that system that I’d have Branch try out when using that system. The two new games are NiGHTS Into Dreams (the best game on the system), and Sonic Jam (a compilation of Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Knuckles), both of which were made by Sonic Team. I added these two because, you know, why would you want to play a Sega console if it doesn’t have some kind of Sonic game or game made by Sonic Team?
But anyway, let’s move on.
The little grey box in the middle, that’s Sony's very first video game system, a 32-bit CD-based console, the Sony PlayStation, released in September 1995.
And as you can see, I also replaced one of the games I picked out for Branch to try out when using the system. That new game is Spyro the Dragon, made by Insomniac Games and released in 1998. I picked this game along with Crash Bandicoot because both of those franchises were the most popular PlayStation franchises of all times, and many gamers loved these games when they came out. And, both Crash and Spyro just had their own HD remasters recently, with the Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy in 2017 and the Spyro Reignited Trilogy in 2018, respectively. I’m also really interested in them and I’m planning to try them out now. You guys should try them out too if you have a chance. You can find both of them for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or you can get it on your computer through Steam. (Seriously, guys, you should give Steam a try. It’s free to join, and if you don’t have a video game console, you can still get those same games through that website for you computer!)
Okay, I kinda got lost there. Let’s move on to the last system.
That dark grey system with four controller ports, that’s Nintendo’s 64-bit, cartridge-based console, made as the successor to the 16-bit Super Nintendo Entertainment System (and the Virtual Boy, but no one talks about that), the Nintendo 64, released in September 1996.
Once again, I only changed one game in the selection of games available for Branch to try out when using the system. That new game is Star Fox 64. I chose that because, well, after watching the history of the Star Fox series, and seeing how great and memorable the game was on the N64 at the time, I decided I should include it, since I think Branch could like it.
Well, that’s all the changes I have for this post. If you’re wondering how I got all of this information for all these systems and those games, well, I actually found a YouTuber, and he’s pretty much the go-to person when it comes to video game history. He’s called the Gaming Historian. Here’s a link to his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/mcfrosticles
But anyway, I mainly rereleased this post with those changes with a better game selection because of how much more I know about video game history now, and I’m still curious to see if Branch and/or Poppy would enjoy the games I talked about.
I hope you like it!

Guide: Best Nintendo Switch Collections And Compilation Games
Tumblr media
Switch has become many a gamer's go-to console for revisiting retro classics, at home on the TV or wherever you happen to take the handheld hybrid. Squeezing in nostalgia trips between the big new releases has never been easier, and there have been a host of exceptional collections and compilation packages on Nintendo's system that bring together bundles of retro games, often with new features, bells and whistles. We've put together the following list of the best compilations on Switch. We've stuck to bundles which include a minimum of three games (many of them contain a lot more than three). While most of the collections below feature retro gaming delights from yesteryear, you'll also find trilogy collections of more recent games. Plenty of good-value variety for everyone! So, without further ado, let's dive into our picks — in no particular order — of the best compilations and collections on Switch. Please note that some external links on this page are affiliate links, which means if you click them and make a purchase we may receive a small percentage of the sale. Please read our FTC Disclosure for more information. Mega Man Legacy Collection (Switch eShop) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: Capcom / Developer: Capcom Release Date: 22nd May 2018 (USA) / 22nd May 2018 (UK/EU) We begin with one of several collections of Mega Men. Digital Eclipse did a great job with all the details in Mega Man Legacy Collection, presenting the original games in their best possible light, while tossing in a handful of extra features and challenges on top to sweeten the deal. The rewind feature is a welcome inclusion that helps to mitigate the difficulty of some of the games, and the overall quality of the series difficult to dispute. We would highly recommend you pick this one up - all the included extra features coupled with the ability to play these games both at home and on the go make it a no-brainer. Borderlands Legendary Collection (Switch) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: 2K / Developer: 2K Release Date: 29th May 2020 (USA) / 29th May 2020 (UK/EU) Borderlands Legendary Collection is an excellent Switch showing for this beloved series, though it's difficult to determine if the price is right; sure, there's an enormous amount of content here so you're certainly not being ripped off, but it's old content and these games are routinely extremely cheap on other services. Still, it's a technically excellent port of three expansive, enjoyable shooters, and they're a perfect fit for the Switch. Whether played alone or with pals, the gameplay is terrific to dip into for 20 minutes or get stuck into for a massive grinding session. If you've somehow never played Borderlands before, you can't go wrong with this set. And if you have, but want to try a different character class on the bus ride home, now's your chance. Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (Switch) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: Capcom / Developer: Digital Eclipse Release Date: 29th May 2018 (USA) / 29th May 2018 (UK/EU) While some of the games included in this compendium are rendered somewhat superfluous by the fact that far superior sequels and updates exist alongside them, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection remains an utterly essential purchase for any self-respecting fighting game fan. This is like a history lesson in how the one-on-one fighter has evolved over time. The experience really benefits from using the right controller; while the Joy-Con are perfectly acceptable when you're hosting impromptu local multiplayer challenges and the Pro Controller's D-Pad is passable, we found the 8bitdo SN30 and SN30 Pro pads to be much better options, and if you have an arcade stick that's compatible with Switch, now is the ideal time to dig it out – this is fighting game nirvana, pure and simple. SEGA Mega Drive Classics (Switch) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: SEGA / Developer: SEGA Release Date: 7th Dec 2018 (USA) / 6th Dec 2018 (UK/EU) Sega's had more than one stab at creating a comprehensive collection of its best Mega Drive titles and, as a result, Sega Mega Drive Classics does lose some of its impact due to sheer familiarity; for example, we already have an immaculately-ported version of Sonic on the Switch eShop right now. Even so, it's hard to argue with the 50-odd games that ship with this new compendium, and only a fool would contest the fact that it showcases some of the best games of the 16-bit era. The modern-day enhancements are welcome too, and while this isn't the first time many of these games have gone portable, it's a real boon to be able to play the likes of Phantasy Star IV or Story of Thor on the bus. When you take into account how much quality there is on offer here, Sega Mega Drive Classics becomes an easy recommendation. Contra Anniversary Collection (Switch eShop) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: Konami / Developer: Konami Release Date: 11th Jun 2019 (USA) / 11th Jun 2019 (UK/EU) While it’s a shame that there are fewer games here than in other Konami collections – we’d have loved to have seen NES title Contra Force or the now-extinct WiiWare title Contra ReBirth – the ones included in the Contra Anniversary Collection are universally brilliant. The 8-bit and 16-bit Contra games are among the finest examples of the run ‘n gun genre, and to have almost all of them included in a single release and emulated flawlessly is an absolute treat. Whether you’re a fan of the series or a curious onlooker who’s always wanted to see what the fuss was all about, this is essential. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (Switch) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: Activision / Developer: Toys for Bob Release Date: 29th Jun 2018 (USA) / 29th Jun 2018 (UK/EU) Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is a ruthlessly faithful recreation of some of the earliest successes in 3D platforming. Levels are slick, gorgeous to look at, and recreate the feel of the originals superbly. Newcomers to the series may be put off by the steep difficulty spikes and little to no explanation of some of the finer mechanics. All the fun and the foibles of the original three games are here, for better or for worse, and despite some odd design choices it still manages to be a really enjoyable retread of some old classics, warts and all. This is definitely worth a look if you're a fan of 3D platformers, but just as was the case back in the '90s, Crash isn't in quite the same league as Mario when it comes to playability, inventiveness and entertainment. If you're after a nostalgia trip, though, it's tough to beat. SNK 40th Anniversary Collection (Switch) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: NIS America / Developer: Digital Eclipse Release Date: 13th Nov 2018 (USA) / 16th Nov 2018 (UK/EU) SNK 40th Anniversary Collection is how retro compilations should be done. Although the emulation has a few little hiccups along the way, the overall package here is wonderfully presented. Rather than just slapping a rudimentary menu over a bunch of old ROMs, it’s clear there’s been a lot of effort made here to catalogue an often forgotten period in one of Japan’s most important game developers. As with all compilations, there are a few misses, but the quality is generally high, and the supporting museum mode is an absolute treasure trove for retro enthusiasts. Namco Museum (Switch eShop) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: Bandai Namco / Developer: Bandai Namco Release Date: 28th Jul 2017 (USA) / 28th Jul 2017 (UK/EU) Namco Museum does a great job of highlighting the illustrious lineage of one of video gaming's most famous arcade companies; not only is it packed with addictive games that will keep you glued to your Switch for many weeks to come, but it boasts excellent emulation, a host of options, online leaderboards, a special challenge mode for each game and a new version of Pac-Man VS. which is sure to become the go-to party title for many Switch players. While there are a couple of titles that we'd have swapped out for other, more worthy offerings from Namco's past, you're still getting an excellent selection of games for a reasonable price here. Mega Man X Legacy Collection (Switch eShop) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: Capcom / Developer: Capcom Release Date: 24th Jul 2018 (USA) / 24th Jul 2018 (UK/EU) Mega Man X Legacy Collection is a fantastic re-release of several must-play gaming classics, presenting them as authentically as possible while still including a few modern features on top that help to improve the overall experience and keep it from feeling antiquated. Throw in the new X Challenge mode and an enormous archive of museum content and this stands as the definitive way to play the Mega Man X games in the modern era. Four fantastic games, a bevy of extra content, and the ability to play at home or on the go make this one an easy recommendation. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy (Switch eShop) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: Capcom / Developer: Capcom Release Date: 9th Apr 2019 (USA) / 9th Apr 2019 (UK/EU) The original Ace Attorney is almost two decades old, which is remarkable when you consider just how well it holds up. Sure, it’s been ported plenty of times and the jump to Nintendo DS certainly helped shake off the retro cobwebs, but as a piece of interactive history, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy is as utterly addictive and truly rewarding as it was back at the turn of the millennium. Whether you’re brand new to the world of virtual defence law or a veteran attorney, Phoenix Wright’s first adventures are still a fine set of cases to undertake. Super Mario 3D All-Stars (Switch) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: Nintendo / Developer: Nintendo Release Date: 18th Sep 2020 (USA) / 18th Sep 2020 (UK/EU) We had an absolute blast playing through these three gems all over again, especially now they look sharper than ever. It’s a shame that the presentation is practically barebones with no bonus content beyond the soundtracks, but there can still be no denying the quality of the games on offer here. Super Mario 3D All-Stars is the Beatles’ Greatest Hits of the video game world, and is an absolute treat whether you’re reliving it in HD or discovering it for the first time. BioShock: The Collection (Switch) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: 2K / Developer: 2K Release Date: 29th May 2020 (USA) / 29th May 2020 (UK/EU) BioShock: The Collection stands as yet another fantastic port in the Switch’s ever-growing library, combining three excellent games and all their DLC into one convincing package. Stable performance, engrossing narratives, fun gameplay, and lots of content make this one an easy recommendation, even if these releases show their age from time to time. If you’re looking for a good single-player shooter to pick up for your Switch, look no further - it’s tough to go wrong here. Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle (Switch eShop) - Our Review - Profile Publisher: Capcom / Developer: Capcom Release Date: 18th Sep 2018 (USA) / 18th Sep 2018 (UK/EU) The Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle illustrates perfectly why the humble side-scrolling fighter was the toast of video gaming in the late '80s and early '90s. Addictive, enjoyable and – perhaps most important of all – bloody good fun when played co-operatively with friends, all of the titles in this seven-strong compendium are worth your time, and by adding robust local and multiplayer support, Capcom has done its utmost to ensure they find favour with a whole new generation of gamers. If you're not a fan of the genre then you may well be wondering what all the fuss is about, but for everyone else, this is a must-have download. - Page : - 1 - 2 - Next » Read More Read the full article

Spyro the Dragon is a adventure game where the player takes control of Spyro a young dragon who has to free all the elder dragons that have been turned to stone by the games antagonist they have recently remastered the series and Spyro has also made appearances in other games such as the Skylander games being one of the main characters in the first game. The Spyro games are considered as classics among the community and were very similar to the Crash Bandicoot games both being released at the same time and being very similar to each other via the mechanics and both being platformers and with being made by Insomniac games who recently made the critically acclaimed Spider-Man PS4.
Tumblr media
The realization of Spyro remakes was originally teased in April 2018 when several media outlets received a package with a purple egg from someone under the alias "Falcon McBob". The Reignited Trilogy was officially revealed a few days later on April 5, 2018. After initially being scheduled for release on September 21, 2018, it was delayed and released on November 13 of the same year. The physical release of Reignited Trilogy contains the full game of Spyro the Dragon, as well as a subset of levels from Ripto's Rage! and Year of the Dragon. The remaining data must be downloaded as part of an in-game update. At E3 2019, versions for Microsoft Windows and Nintendo Switch were announced and were released on September 3, 2019.
Unlike the N. Sane Trilogy, development of Reignited Trilogy was a more collaborative effort between Toys for Bob and Insomniac Games. In the early planning stages, the staff from Toys for Bob brought their concept sketches of the titular character to the original team and held several discussions on how the character should look, with especially strong input from Ted Price. One of the key goals of the Reignited Trilogy, according to art director Josh Nadelberg, was to "get Spyro right". This involved putting Spyro's model through rigorous stress tests to explore the range of emotions and expressions that could be yielded before and after the discussions with Insomniac staff. Because Insomniac Games could not provide source code or original assets to use as a reference, Toys for Bob utilized an in-house emulation tool called "Spyro-scope" which showed the schematics of a level's geometry and revealed patterns in enemy pathfinding.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy received "generally favorable reviews" across all platforms on which it was released, according to review aggregator Metacritic. Multiple aspects of the game were praised, such as upgraded visuals, attention-to-detail, and the game's faithfulness to the original trilogy. Jonathon Dornbush of IGN praised the game's attention to detail, noting both the level design, with "gorgeous horizons" and layouts "pristine and accurate to the original", and character upgrades, such as non-playable characters exhibiting more unique and expressive personalities. Mitch Wallace of Forbes similarly highlighted the game's detail, calling the levels "childlike fantasy made playable", while also praising Toys for Bob's ability to faithfully recreate the games despite not having access to the original source code. Chris Moyse of Destructoid commended the game's soundtrack for its rerecording, "dynamic" aspect in which tempo adjusted to match Spyro's activity, and the option to switch to the original recordings.
The game was criticized for issues such as long loading times, glitches, and frame-rate. Wallace noted all of these aspects, calling the loading times in particular "a tad unacceptable" for being "slightly longer" than those of the original games, despite being produced two decades later for more advanced consoles. Moyse noted that the game, in remaining faithful, retained some of the original games' flaws, particularly the overall "bland" and linear objectives. Jeremy Winslow of Slant reiterated that criticism, calling Ripto's Rage and Year of the Dragon "mere reskins" of the first game, while also chiding the game's inconsistent frame-rate and "slippery" controls.

How about another review? Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse is a 2016 3DS title RPG by Atlus. It's about a Demon Hunter who collects Demons and uses them to fight other Demons whilst talking with them recruiting new Demons to the cause ultimately fusing Demons to make stronger ones. The main appeal is bosses you fight can later on become your minions incentivising the progress going from having Dwarves and Centaurs as your minions to fully-fledged deities from major mythologies and religions all serving your cause. It follows directly from the events of 2013's SMTIV and whilst it would be fair to recommend the predecessor the truth is the more obvious problem of recommending SMT in general when compared to its spin-off Persona, the far more popular Pokemon, and even recent triumphs such as Undertale - all of which owe more respect to this series than it'll ever attain.
In essence, SMTIVA (or simply 4A) is a celebration of 25 years (30 if you count its own origins from Digital Devil Story) to remain relevant to an audience ever-changing in its tastes. Much like 2013's Fire Emblem: Awakening, one of the major changes is a wider difficulty setting. It's become a running gag to complain about SMT's punishing difficulty and SMTIV's inability to recognise this, matched with the first 1/4's pace, meant it alienated both new and returning players to which behind such an outer mask of ugliness shined a beautiful latter 3/4 length of quality: you only had the choice between difficulties if you sucked at the game or completed it. 4A nails the early part by having a rolling start to events - you are in the midsts of the concluding parts of SMTIV, the strongest part of the last game, and different events will lead to an even greater experience. The other glaring difference is having FIVE SAVE FILES. I know this sounds dumb but SMTIV only had 2 and there was a point in the game where I almost crippled my progress biting off more than I could chew. Luckily I managed to struggle out of the situation but I've heard stories from friends I've bought this game for talk about getting 20-30 hours in and then hitting a perma-death wall because they couldn't figure out how to defeat a boss they've locked themselves in thus giving a bitter aftertaste to a game with so much potential. 4A's ability to have over twice the chances and more options, combined with difficulty switching on the fly, means there's no excuse now not to give this series a try.
Gameplay-wise, Atlus has tuned up the UI, the navigation of menus, and moving around the world becomes intuitive rather than memory-intensive, checklisting what needs doing constantly, in favor of a linear design which gives you room to approach solutions in a more varied manner. The abilities now work on an affinity/deficiency system to raise and reduce mana costs and give more emphasis on what certain demons can do making them appeal more than before. Likewise the soundtrack's composition by Ryota Koduka is superior - I did feel at first it wasn't elevated beyond a standard set in the last game but by the end it surpassed his SMTIV results by implementing the best parts of those tracks and improving other ones with new tracks sounding quintessentially SMT. The story length is impressive - it's longer than SMTIV. I was not expecting this to be anywhere near the length of SMTIV because of the decreased staff but Yusuke Miyata and Kazuma Kaneko really outdid themselves. Likewise the art by Masayuki Doi and Kazuma Kaneko is outstanding - the characters here are much more layered than the obvious "whose side are you on" characters in SMTIV both in their looks and motives. I genuinely enjoyed how integral returning characters and new characters felt never once boring on their presence and growing beyond cliches. By the end they had good reasons to exist alongside your decisions rather than complimenting you for choosing what they wanted. The final sequence is a rollercoaster of masterful highs and doesn't relent making you feel accomplished in reaching the climax to what is a well-deserved challenge and well-attained victory.
There are some minor downsides - I did not find the side-quests memorable because they spontaniously appear in your log rather than going out of your way to explore the world and interact with specific Demons and characters to make the immersion higher (one of the only times this happens is when you need to collect a certain Demon for a Weapon but it's unfortunately cryptic and requires a little lateral thinking to understand) but then the quality of life to not be tied to such things in order to get the definitive ending, as was with SMTIV, is such an upside it's forgivable. I found some of the special fusions from SMTIV missing and becoming basic fusions which was a dissapointment making them feel less important than before. The only other issue is you'll be constantly pleading povety to keep up with the absurd demands of this game's upgrading system - if you spec out a specific way, grind a bit to keep yourself honest, and generally know what to expect because you're using a guide then yeah you'll know how to avoid such things however for a pure blind experience with no spoilers it can be a little middling to afford the ideal fusions or items all at once. Doesn't make the game any less fun it just means you'll have to be wise on what you buy or the game will become artificially lengthened.
I wouldn't pen such recommendations unless I felt they deserved to be just this - recommendations. There's no point talking about games I cannot put my heart into and truly compare to any other great experience in my life, game-related or not, and 4A really is a gamer's game - it was made by gamers for gamers. We often put a critical lens to games getting remastered or remade such as the recent Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy or Sonic Mania and whilst they both succeed in breathing new life into their own series, 4A is a game you can skip SMTIV for to get an experience many miss out. I'd like to shame Nintendo for their absolute distain to promote this title for it's one of the best choices for the 3DS and as an RPG stands with the greats.
Also if you don't find the idea of beating a giant green penis on a chariot appealing then I have no words to justify how boring your life must be.

Super Mario Maker 2 Is June 2019's Best-Selling Game
New Post has been published on https://gamerszone.tn/super-mario-maker-2-is-june-2019s-best-selling-game/
Super Mario Maker 2 Is June 2019's Best-Selling Game
The Nintendo Switch exclusive Super Mario Maker 2
was the best-selling game in June, followed by Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, while the Nintendo Switch was the month’s best-selling console.According to the NPD Group, reporting the top-selling games of the month and the year so far, noted Mario Maker 2’s launch month surpassed both the original Super Mario Maker as well as the 3DS version’s respective launch months. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch is not only June’s best-selling console but also all of 2019’s so far. And, according to NPD, the Switch is the only console in 2019 showing year-over-year growth (it did, of course, launch later than both the PS4 and Xbox One.)
IGN’s Super Mario Maker 2 review called the sequel “the most accessible game design tool ever created, and that core is just one part of a greater whole.”
Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled had the “highest launch month total” in the entire Crash Bandicoot franchise’s history, with the previous best having been set by Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy’s 2017 launch. IGN’s Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled review said the updated kart racer is “a thrilling ride that keeps the excellent original game intact while adding some quality of life updates, such as an improved HUD, and obligatory modern trappings such as unlockable cosmetics.”
Mario Maker 2 and CTR were followed by Mortal Kombat 11, which had the top-earning spot for both April and May and currently remains 2019’s best-selling game to date, followed by Kingdom Hearts III.
NPD also interestingly noted that Marvel’s Spider-Man re-entered the top 10 selling games for the month of June, coming in at No. 7. It is the fifth best-selling game in the last 12-month period, and is currently the best-selling superhero game in U.S. history.
The top 10 best-selling games of June were:
Super Mario Maker 2
Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled
Mortal Kombat 11
Grand Theft Auto V
Minecraft
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Marvel’s Spider-Man
NBA 2K19
Mario Kart 8
Days Gone
For more on the games of 2019 to come, check out our list of video game release dates for 2019, and read about how the games of 2020 look amazing.
NPD’s results are based on online and retail sales of physical video games, as well as some, but not all, digital download stores.Jonathon Dornbush is IGN’s Senior News Editor. Find him on Twitter @jmdornbush.

#Gamefemerides Hace 22 años, llega a América, @crashbandicoot . #LegionGamerRD #ElGamingnosune #Videojuegos #Gaming #RetroGaming #RetroGamer #CulturaGaming #CulturaGamer #GamingHistory #HistoriaGaming #GamerDominicano #GamingPodcast #Podcast #CrashBandicoot #NaughtyDog #Activision #PlayStation #PS1 #PS4 #Nintendo #NintendoSwitch #Xbox #XboxOne #PC #Steam #Plataformas (at Dominican Republic) https://www.instagram.com/p/BngWHuGle8Y/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ekcfsv1xy6yc
