Here is my Wild Hearts Crew Jacy Masters rerooted and repainted by me wearing a custom made outfit by me wearing Creatable World shoes.

Jacy Masters came to me nude so I didn't have any of her original clothes, but I guess that's fine because even brand new, I though the Wild Hearts Crew's fashions were outdated, garish and unappealing. I wanted to do a flirty and fun two piece as I think it suited her California vibe and overall look.

I've had Jacy Masters in a box for so long I'm surprised by how much I really like her now I've customised her, especially since I probably wouldn't give Wild Hearts Crew dolls much thought otherwise except as parts fodder.

But I guess not giving a doll polypropolene hair, co ordinating clothing, and a screening that fills up the sculpt can do wonders for any doll.

August doll show haul. There is always such great vendors. Recently I’ve gotten into Raggedy Ann and Andy via the Musical Adventure movie. I’m so excited to get my first raggedies and a book too! The classic set is nice, and this Ann in a sailor outfit was too precious! This Gotz, Mariah, is one of my grail dolls.

Otherwise: A princess bear, a Creatable world fashion pack, a bitty baby outfit, a shirt and dress for Dolly, Addy’s Kite Flying outfit, Kirsten’s spoon bag, birthday dress, and house coat, Maryellen’s dress and shoes for a friend, Molly’s pajamas, Kit’s beforever dress. I was especially excited for Kirsten’s straw hat because have you read Kirsten Saves the Day?

Now diving back into the studio to sew like the wind. Shifting back into cosplay mode because the anime convention is next weekend. I was worried about taking the time away from my rather complex cosplay, but it was so nice to take a break from that hobby to be in this one!

Getting the Lads Ready for An Adventure

I've been planning a big photo shoot for Trys and Alex, to be shot in the museum's garden. It involves a 1970 Barbie Camper.

I've been working on restoring and improving this camper for several weeks now. I created a replacement back panel and glued down loose vinyl as best I could (believe it or not this is an improvement) I replaced a broken tent-like sleeping structure with other improvements such as the futon and the fairy lights (one of the pillows on the futon is actually hiding the battery for the lights). I made the futon and pillows. The psychedelic fabric, which also covers the interior side of the replacement panel is by Kaffe Fassett.

Two more pictures of the interior. It's hard to photograph, but I'm really proud of it. Not just as a restoration of the Barbie camper, but as a period interior. I love the twee little mugs I found in my doll stuff. It's so Them. The camper and dolls are in a pop-up exhibit right now. The Led Zeppelin fan art aspect of Trys & Alex get's clocked about 50% of the time by people over 50. Mal and I go back and forth about referring to them as Jimmy&Robert or Trys&Alex. (I favor the latter).

Time for closeups. Alex/Robert (Creatable World DC-220) is wearing Bratz Boys jeans and a Skipper top - both 1990s vintage with creatable world shoes. I made the necklace.

Trys/Jimmy (Creatable World DC-965) is wearing mostly Creatable World - shoes, top and sunglasses with a bracelet by me, a scarf that is just a couple of pieces of ribbon yarn and a pair of dark denim, glitter imbued flares which came from the Dollar Tree in the late 1990s.

Next week. New outfits, new accessories and camping. Mal thinks I made this doll look like Jimmy Page with the power of my mind.

I always find interesting things when browsing ebay

somebody is selling a Mila Berrymore doll and they have her listed as “new” but she is in a rainbow vision box, her hair has been restyled, she’s wearing one of kia hart’s outfits, daria roselyn’s second outfit has been shoved in there and there’s a pair of creatable world sandals floating around in the box too; shoes that will absolutely not fit on a rainbow high doll’s feet.

in what world is that a “new” doll?

Auctober Day 3: Collections

I have 4 different collections! I collect stickers, Barbies, and novelty writing utensils. I technically collect the jokers from playing card decks, but I only have couple, so I don't count them. And then there's...my hoard. I love dragons and identify with them a lot, hence my hoard of shiny things and other curious objects.

I have 28 Barbies. I mix and match their clothes for creative outfits. Here are some of my favorites! Only two of them have names (because I'm bad at remembering the names I gave them, so I just gave up). Babs is the one in the yellow and black outfit, and Sandy is the one on the far right.

Plus, there's my dolls that aren't Barbies! I have a Creatable World doll, a Bratz doll, 6 Polly Pockets, and a My Little Pony. The Polly Pockets and the My Little Pony I acquired recently as I was trying to find things that reminded me of my childhood.

Then there's my sticker collection! I stick any sticker I can get my hands on in a notebook. I only have two rules: no stickers from cops or bigots, and no duplicates. I want to fill up the whole thing, but I might have to take some blank pages out. It's getting pretty thick.

My novelty writing utensil collection is fairly small, but I've got some good ones. I take some to school for everyday use, but some are impractical for that. Here's some of my favorites!

And last but not least, the Hoard! I have it divided in two: plasticky fake toy looking stuff in one chest, and real-looking (or even real) stuff in another. Take a look!

disneystore Isabela has a different outfit as a stand-in for her end of movie dress that i am going to try to approximate. (this is one of my favorite doll dresses ever though; i think it's by @dollsahoy?)

basic Antonio is on a Creatable World body with Bratz-boy shirt? i think? that reminded me of a guayabera like his dad wears. and the legs need shortening so i put him kneeling next to his animal friend. he also got a cat ears headband because i think he would like that.

i have them in the Villa Blinovitch patio because it was handy. Isabela (and my husband, who is nonfictional but from a different part of the country than the story setting) should forgive me if the plants are all wrong for that region of Colombia.

BRUNO (2nd closeup) process:

used the Marvel Rising América Chávez doll (if you want one, or 2, they are only 10$ on amazon right now: 6 feb 2022) as a base and sculpted a new nose, brow, and eyes with heatmold plastic. painting is done w the usual vallejo acrylic colors and washes. he has the same haunted and bug-eyed look as the animation character, although the face shape isn't quite right.

his hands are FR male hands which just happened to have the right size pegs!

his purple pajama top i got from https://www.ebay.com/str/kolkmankreations ... and i made his ruana myself out of a cloth dinner napkin that i bought special. it is harder than you would think to find nice green striped textured cotton!!

it is also harder than you would think to sew a thing that only involves rectangles (well, at least if you failed plane geometry and are crap at sewing jaja)

he is eating bandeja paisa (which probably didn't exist in the 50s oops) made from polymerclay by my great dollbuddy @bellejanewednesday and i also made him a green mal de ojo pendant cos i don't think you can break a habit like over a decade of being superstitious that fast.

Turns out some barbie clothes fit creatable world dolls pretty well. Found this set on clearance and while I couldn't use the visor or shoes for this doll I think the outfit looks super nice.

Here is my Lorna McNessie doll with her belt dry brushed with silver paint and her beret is one I took from a Creatable World set. One of my issues with latter G1 Monster High is the fact the dolls' outfits was dependant on packaging, elastic bands and plastic tags to hold the doll together, and I basically lost her beret the moment I took out the plastics tags holding it in. But I think the CW beret is a much better fit and elevates her look in my opinion.

I'm really happy since I saw potential in her when I bought her but I didn't have the skillset to really do what I wanted until now.

So I decided to get the 90s Maleficent Fashion pack cuz asides from getting the super expensive collectors doll, there wasn't any other options I really liked. And asides from the polyester-ness of it all I really like the quality and drape of the outfit, especially compared to the stiff Satin dresses of my other Maleficent dolls. Mattel created a new doll line called Creatables World that allows kids to basically create their own doll while kind of supporting gender non-conformity. This is kind of amazing! I can’t wait to super support these cuties! They’re diverse with different skin and hair colors and they come with a wide range of outfit pieces. Credit to TooHunkyToys on insta for the discovery!!

I took some photos of my dolls a couple days ago, including some shots of the cute new clothes from Daisio! These outfits are modeled by my Creatable World dolls, since the outfits are quite small! They aren’t perfect, but for $1.50 the quality is very good. The shoes don’t fit! But the socks have good stretch. The Second Wave of Creatable World Dolls found in the Wild

So I was at Target on Friday (1/10/2020) and stumbled across a display on the end of an aisle for Creatable World dolls. I had only skimmed a post about them coming to stores, and hadn’t really thought about it. But there they were!

The main display had three rotating displays of three dolls in different outfits. Pretty nifty if you ask me.

There are lots of new things, but the one familar item is the Deluxe character kit. The packaging is slightly different now from the first... wave (is it considered a new wave?).

This doll (dc-826) was not released with the first wave (we’re just going to go with waves). It looked like there were three other price tags for Deluxe Character Kits, but they were all empty, so It seem that they are selling multiple of these kits. These kits are $29.99 USD

As for new items, they have the dolls sold without any accessories, save for undergarments and a wig.

dc-826 was an option with these ‘Character Starter Packs’. I’m on the fence about whether I like that they don’t come with clothes or not. On the one hand, they’re naked and you HAVE to buy clothes for them (or find ones you have that fit them), but on the other, it keeps the price lower, and you don’t have to worry about duplicate clothing or ending up with clothing you don’t like/want just becasue it comes with a doll you want. These dolls are $12.99 USD

There are also two new types of clothing/fashion packs.

The first, and less expensive, option is the Style Packs. There were a few different types. they seem to come with an outer layer, a shirt, pants, a bag, and shoes. Some of the items are very similar (ie. pallete-swapped from previous kits), some are entirely new.

All of these packs were $9.99 US.

The more expensive sets are $19.99 and are called Everyday Style Packs. Their names do NOT change based on the clothing (Although they do have ID codes), and these outfits appear to be mostly (if not entirely) recolors of existing clothes. They come with a hat, three pairs of shoes, two shirts, a jacket, glasses, and three pairs of pants or skirts.

Overall, I’m ok with the re-colored clothing. I think it looks different enough that it feels like a new piece of clothing, although I can see how it would bother some people. 

The final new item were Wig Packs. Each pack comes with two different wigs and costs $9.99 US.

These colors and wigs are very cute, and I’ve always wanted colored hair, so I can imagine kids and adults will like these. however, I fell like having a wig that doesn’t match the color of the hair underneath with only exaggerate the issues with the wigs being obviously... wigs. Especially with the dolls who have bangs, to begin with, it will be very obvious. 

I did a quick comparison fo the dolls these wigs will fit, in case you’re interested in just buying the wigs.

From left to right: You can force the wigs onto Liv doll heads but it deforms them a bit, they fit EAH dolls perfectly, and they’re far too large for Monster High dolls.
