Hi everyone! It's been a minute. Just now I've deleted all my art, since we're all most likely on the former bird app it's hopefully obvious why.

No worries though! I've gotten access to Webglaze so once I've got everything (over 100 pieces) glazed I plan on re-uploading everything!

In addition to about 50 new pieces, so look forward to them!

Here's how to Disable Third Parties (Like AI Companies) from Looking At Your Shit. A Comprehensible Guide.

If you're on your computer, go to "ACCOUNT" located on the Left <-side bar, and choose for the blog you want to shield from the artificial onlookers. (Side note: You're gonna have to do this to each blog you have... ughhh.. they don't make it easy.) ANyway, choose one of your blogs and click it.

Once there, go to the Right -> side bar, and click on "BLOG SETTINGS."

Your Blog's page set up should be set up like this. Now, scroll allll the way down (it's near the damn BOTTOM >:( ) Until you get to a Section Called, "VISIBILITY."

Here's the "VISIBILITY" section. If you look at the blue bullet right there, you'll see "Prevent third-party sharing for (yourtumblrblogname)". Yours will probably be a gray bullet. Gray means you've switched it to OFF. Blue means it's switched to ON. Make sure the bullet slider is blue. And Bam. You're done (for this blog). No extra save button thankfully or whatever. BUT now you have to go and do the same thing for all your other side blogs. Hope this helps some of my followers. Because the tumblr is set up in a way that gives you multiple setting options for not just each blog, but your account as well. So you'd ASSUME it'd be underneath your account so it could apply to everything! Buuut its not. And here we are. Good luck out there fellow artists. And tumblr? Shame. Live was a mistake, and so was this.

Remember Glaze, the tool you can use to cloak your art and protect it from being scraped by AI?

There’s another tool out now, and it’s called Mist. From what’s written and what people are saying, it requires less processing power than Glaze and is faster. And apparently, it leaves less artifacts on flat artstyles (like mine).

The current vein of AI usage on art is infuriating on a lot of levels, and this is one of them: that art styles are now scrutinized for being AI generated

That's not to debunk this post btw, but right now the whole situation is just so so sad. Sometimes the "telling signs of AI" could be actual human error, or just how an artist renders, or just a detail that happens to exist. We can get duped into unknowingly praising AI work, or accidentally accuse someone's art of being AI-- especially when a style gets eaten and spat out by the AI machine, and we have trouble telling counterfeit from the genuine article.

Artists are being stolen from while being framed for stealing, so keep an eye out but please also be careful when calling out AI work.

There’s a lot to be said about AI. Even if artists would be compensated for art used to train AI machines, I still have my doubts. One does not live life just to reach death. A life needs to be lived. Similarly the creation of a work of art is a journey, that would become pointless if clicking a button gives you an end result that is completely separate from any feeling, skill or experience from a creator. That being said, since AI is here now, let’s at least make it fair for artists. @loisvb worded things very clearly and let me quote her post: I wholeheartedly support the ongoing protest against AI art. Why? Because my artwork is included in the datasets used to train these image generators without my consent. I get zero compensation for the use of my art, even though these image generators cost money to use, and are a commercial product. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Musicians are not being treated the same way. Stability has a music generator that only uses royalty free music in their dataset. Their words: “Because diffusion models are prone to memorization and overfitting, releasing a model trained on copyrighted data could potentially result in legal issues.” Why is the work of visual artists being treated differently? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Many have compared image generators to human artists seeking out inspiration. Those two are not the same. My art is literally being fed into these generators through the datasets, and spat back out of a program that has no inherent sense of what is respectful to artists. As long as my art is literally integrated into the system used to create the images, it is commercial use of my art without my consent. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Until there is an ethically sourced database that compensates artists for the use of their images, I am against AI art. I also think platforms should do everything they can to prevent scraping of their content for these databases. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Artists, speak out against this predatory practice!
