I have nothing except my Soul
By Afsar Uddin
Last week was the journalism week. My task is to interview someone in our area and I have decided to interview the homeless people in my area. Learn some interview technique from Ria chatterjee (ITV journalist). leant how to present yourself after visiting the Oath, learn how to write up after visiting telegraph and learn  how to present it online after visiting sky news and sky sports. I will try my best to use all the technique on this interview.
I went to Stratford Centre at 7pm to interview a homeless man.
The questions were difficult to put together at first. A lot of them were scrapped: it’s hard to ask people about one of the most difficult things in their life without coming across as patronising.
 What is your name?
 Sissay Camara
 What’s your homelessness story?
“I was homeless in 2010 when I was 20. I moved out of home when I was 19 to go live with my partner in Ilford. We dated for 11 months, in a pretty volatile relationship – I ended it and moved out of the house we were in. I went to stay with an old mate; however he was very aggressive and used to bully me a lot so I had to leave him. I then got put on the waiting list for accommodation with a young person’s housing organisation in Ilford,  But then I couldn’t get any houses or home to stay.’’
 What about your job?
‘‘Well I did really well in my A-levels but whenever I applied for jobs they rejected me somehow, I always had a dream to become an engineer. I wanted to go university but because I didn’t have income and I couldn’t get the student loan, I had to move on from education.
Where would you like to be in a year’s time?
“Have a job, a house and a beautiful partner. And I know now it will be very difficult for these dreams. Peace of mind.”
Don’t lose hope. Do you feel safe?
‘‘Well I feel very vulnerable. And it’s very cold now as well’’
Tell me about the people you see every day?
‘‘People like me that stay with me are very nice and kind. They always share what they have. We are like a family. And people that passes us; sometimes they give us something sometimes they don’t. Some people, they view us as dirt like we deserve it but it can happen to anyone. But everyday around 8pm a charity groups comes and gives us food. God bless them.’’
Why do you think people become homeless?
“Because of family problems and when my mum and dad died everything fell apart and then my girl left me, my mate was abusing me, these things can pull someone towards homelessness.”
What is the best thing that happened to you this week?
“Got some good food and some money off passers-by’’
What words would you use to describe being homeless?
“Depressed, wanting to die, you don’t feel any good, you can’t see hope and You feel like you left out from the society’’
What is the hardest thing about being homeless?
‘‘no shelter, no life, no future, feel like a dead person.’’
Anything you’d like me to know?
‘‘Not every homeless person is bad and buys drugs and alcohol. I respect people so people need to give us respect and they need to think rightfully about us.’’
What does the word ‘home’ mean to you?
“Everything.Comfort of family – to go out, to work or whatever – and have somebody to come home to. Not quite that simple but!!!”
What is your biggest fear?
“My biggest fear is that I won’t be able to live. I might die soon because of the weather and needs’’

6 Tips on Photography I Learnt From Paul Hampartsoumian By Amanda
Stay committed, they need to rely on you
One of the tips Paul gave was that you had to love the art, which I found extremely important. If you don’t love what you do, then it’ll be difficult to motivate and continue to do your job. You may find it boring, not have the patience for it or constantly get frustrated at the results you get and when you have clients, you need to get the work done.
Portfolios don’t work for everyone
Whilst it is good to have a portfolio, don’t threat too much if it doesn’t work out for you. Every artist is different and some photographers don’t rely on their portfolio to get them work.
It’s not going to happen overnight
I feel like this can fall with any bit of work. You should never expect anything to happen overnight, and photography is no different. Just because you have, a phone or camera does not make you an expert photographer.
Winner has a plan, loser has an excuse
If you want to get somewhere, plan. There will be times where you have to think on the spot and go with what you have. Even in the end, if it doesn’t end up being successful or going the direction you hoped it would. As long as you tried and looked at all the possible outcomes, that’s good enough. What’s not is giving up and trying to make excuses for it
There’s a 1000 photographers out there, you have to make them want you
You have to stand out from the crowd and make them want you. One opportunity could be all you need to prove yourself.
Be bold
Here he was talking about how you need to be the one to approach people, mainly those who are famous. Don’t be afraid if someone says no and move onto the next. It’s nothing personal, and some people are tired, stressed or just don’t like having their photos be taken

Flo's Weekly Wrap Up!
I was so exited for this week since I want to become a film director so I found this week extremely useful!
Tumblr media
Monday: The BBC came in today to speak to us about how to pitch potential news investigations and how the process looks like, I loved everyone’s pitches they were all so inspiring. So much work has to go into pitching a story and an idea. Vinnie Shergill’s story was so inspiring for me since she worked her way up from the bottom and is a producer on strictly come dancing and also won a BAFTA. I asked her a question which was if she had any tips for a young aspiring film director trying to break into the industry she told me to not give up which gave me a lot of hope now and in the future.
Tuesday: Today warner media came in which was so sick! We saw the set of the Repair Shop, It was really good to learn about the different cameras that Chandler Hollbone was showing us he showed us the Sony FX 9 camera which the repair shop uses and he talked about the different lenses there are on the cameras they used which was an 18-55mm lens (wide lens) and a 100mm macro lens. He talked about the transmitter which gets received by the camera, so they have a crisp audio. They also talked about the different type of shots that are used which further broadened my knowledge about camera shots. Food Unwrapped came in, we were put into breakout rooms and had to come up with a food that they could do an episode on so our team came up with the sprinkle cake and the history of it as we thought it was very nostalgic and reminded us of bake sales. I also asked the same question about if they had any tips for young aspiring film directors and they said the same thing which was to start at the bottom. Which now I know I need to find a job as a runner ASAP!
Tumblr media
Wednesday: Today Matty Groves came in to chat to us about documentary making which I loved so much, he showed us a bunch of amazing short documentary films which were really inspiring. He took us though how to make a good documentary and what makes a good documentary. I wouldn’t have had this opportunity before, so I was really grateful for this session. We’ve been given a task to shoot our own short documentary on a treasured item we feel attached to. I loved hearing about everyone’s item and how it was so personal to them. I love watching documentaries, so this session was so helpful to me.
Thursday; Today UKTV came to speak to us about the neuroscience when making advertisements which I had no idea about, this was so interesting to learn about since I had no idea. We got set a task in breakout rooms to create a comedy channel our group did a spin-off of adult swim which was really fun designing the cereal box we had Dave Chappelle and Eric Andre presenting our show and our target audience was young adults with a dark sense of humour since we found there was a gap in the market for that at the moment we wanted a controversial show. We then had to pitch this idea to a mock-up of dragons den which was really fun and pressuring since we had a limited amount of time, this was good practice because it showed me how fast paced the industry is.
Tumblr media
Friday; Channel 4 came in today which was so so fun! I love this channel so much since they always have such good content. I loved how they said they are built on taking risks, they showed us a really cool video of a montage of complaints they got which was so on point and really funny. I never knew that they don’t actually produce their own shows, it’s all commissioned. They spoke about the internships they do which I was really thinking about doing since they had one on production training and hands on deck with working with people and a camera which really interested me. I think Channel 4 really stood out for me compared to the other channels since their programmes intrigue me.

How do you think COVID-19 has affected/will affect your future? By Amanda Skipper
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A short comic on how I feel Covid-19 will affect my future. This one took me a while to do with all the colouring.
Despite the rough year 2020 has been, I feel more confident with my future. Media Trust has given me so many opportunities and confidence in myself. I have made Vlogs, started a YouTube channel, learned how to make a podcast and pushed myself so I can create content. Although I am still wondering in which direction I want to aim for, I am keeping my mind and options open.
This year has been a struggle but we are all in this together, we can pull through this. That is what I believe anyway :)

3 Top Tips You Need To Know Whilst Moving Forwards In the Media Industry (Influenced By MediaTrust Alumni)
Written By Kwame
Tumblr media
1). Take things step by step!
Use the training we are recieving proactively by networking, enquiring for new opportunites and trying to connect with te right people who can get you involved with the people that you want to present your ideas to.
Tumblr media
2). Create more short term goals rather than long term
Try your best not to overthink things by thinking too far ahead, try and replace this with short term goals that you can accomplish and push yourself to meet them.
Tumblr media
3).
Don’t take feedback personally!
In the media industry you will get ruthless feedback and it’s all about knowing how to take it. Even if you’ve spent hours working on something and it gets rejected without further information, try not to think this person has it out for you. These things happen in this tough industry and it’s all about building a mental shell that can keep you sane.

The power of fan conventions (MCM London Comic Con - May 2018)
By Aisosa Ugiagbe
Tumblr media
Hey look, I caught a Pikachu~!!
As you know I'm a nerd. A huge flaming nerd. And I'll say that with my chest until the day that I die. Last weekend was the London MCM comic con. An event where thousands of other nerds (I mean fans) get together to enjoy and celebrate comic books, anime, manga, video games, film, TV shows - all different forms of creative media. There's nothing quite like it. The feeling of knowing that you're surrounded by people who love the same things you do, with the same intensity and passion that you have... It's simply beautiful.
Tumblr media
These guys cosplayed as Metal Gear Solid characters Revolver Ocelot, Naked Snake, Sniper Wolf! Good stuff!
In fact I can say wholeheartedly that it re-energized my love for creative media and the community surrounding it. "Why do you say that?" You may be asking. Well, I'll tell you why. You see, being on the internet partaking in discussions on various topics within the realm of creative media is a staple activity for a nerd. But due to the inherently anonymous nature of the internet, discussions between passionate fans can quickly turn into arguments which can quickly...turn into all-out flame wars. When you bear witness to these day in day out, you can end up a bit...jaded. You start to think that maybe it's better if you kept your interests to yourself. Because Fandoms be trippin'. But then you go to a convention, meet with a buttload of fans in the flesh, have wonderful chats (filled with in-jokes and memes that you don't have to explain because they're not total normies), and then suddenly all is right with the world and those annoying encounters you had on the internet in the past cease to bother you as much. Being part of a Fandom can be amazing.
Tumblr media
laughing with Tidus from Final Fantasy X. Aaaahahahahaha!
As a creative, it makes me so happy to think that people's work has been celebrated to the point that people get together to express their love for it. Their work has people literally dressing up as characters they love, without a regard to what society thinks. It's incredibly incredible lol. Creative media has influenced so many people in so many different ways. I long more than ever to one day create something that has that same impact on people. Here's to one day lol. A big shoutout to all who made the convention possible. It was a great experience. Also, shoutouts to Xenia, who also attended (she was actually doing press work, go her!)

My grandad came to London in the 1940s as an immigrant post India-Pakistan partition. He worked as an accountant in Knightsbridge before eventually moving to Wembley, where I was born. Over the decades, the areas changed immensely. There’s a lot more still to come.

Aesthetic Wembley | Insta-friendly | Politely Gentrified
Gentrified, so tensions are rising.
The photos in these collections represent the construct of commercialisation.
This series explores my views on what reveals the aesthetics of Wembley, from iconic architecture to the diversity of vibrant culture and stories of local people.
It aims to showcase an honest view of what improvements to the area can bring, but also where the challenges lie.

At Shazam, we learned about how it is beyond an app. It's an ever-growing music business which negotiates with global offices internationally (especially the US) in order to elevate and have the brand go from strength to strength. Additionally, we learned how to basic code as some of the team may do in order to update the website and a fun fact about the office - there is a specially built in area for artist's to perform when they pass by the London office. We also learned important personality traits about the ideal Shazam character/candidate: Innovative Accountable Results-driven Passionate Collaborative Fun
Fun fact: Avicii’s ‘Wake me up’ is the most shazam’ed song with 25 million Shazam’s.
"Passion with data equals everything." Wise words from." - Arun Chumba, Music manager. There is more than meets the eye when it comes to Shazam and it's a music mission. @NanaBoaitey

What an exciting time to be a creative. GUAP is an amazing idea and is created for a purpose, a purpose to document and nurture creative people.
“Collaboration is everything”
Even when you don't mean to collaboration is key and people sometimes don't even know when they are doing it.
Marketing tips he gave :
WHO - Target audience
WHAT - Product/service
WHERE - Marketing channel
HOW - brand voice, colors, and assets
Understand your brand identity?. Having my own business I believe in branding and how powerful it can be. Its what clients recognize, its the experience they remember. When they see it they understand the product and ethics behind the business strategy. Personalised print has always been a place I can be creative as well as complete client briefs.

Paul Hampartsoumian’s Top 5 Artists by Aaron Charles
This man has been doing photography for 20+ years, initially to fill time during his A levels and eventually become a professional freelance photographer. Though Paul generally takes pictures of a wide variety of UK acts and beyond; he’s mostly known for taking pictures of Hip Hop moguls, publishing his first set of images to the UK magazine, Hip-Hop Connection. With that being said, here is a list of Paul Hampartsoumian’s Top 5 Artists.
Busta Rhymes
Considered to be underrated by Mr. Hampartsoumian, the first entry in this list goes to Busta Rhymes. Some of Paul’s favourite pieces that he’s taken in his career (from Busta Bust jumping over him while he still had his locks to a moment involving Princess Diana) are situations involving the gigantic speed rapper. Additionally, from first hand experience taking photos of Busta Rhymes, Paul admires his stage presence and the energy he exudes, as well as alot of his back to back hits, from ‘Gotta All in Check’ to ‘Give Me Some More’ to ‘Make It Clap’ to the ‘Touch It Remix’ and the ‘Look At Me Now’ verse.
Jay-Z
From people that are mega fans of Hip-hop/rap and even to many that aren’t too fond of the genre, Jay-Z is known far and wide as on of the greatest artist hip hop has ever produced. Being a similar age him, Paul admires the fact that as Jay-Z progresses in his career, so to does his subject matter (something that most of his contemporaries rarely do), noting that the topics he mentions in 4:44 are vastly different from his Blueprint albums. To put icing on the cake, Paul got the chance to take photos of him and his wife at the Royal Albert Hall!
Lupe Fiasco
Despite being a comparatively newer artist to the other rappers on his list, Paul gravitates towards his conscious lyrics. His rhyme schemes and clever punchlines, compliments the social messages in his music.
Chuck D (from Public Enemy)
Similar to Lupe Fiasco, Paul likes that the Public Enemy front man had a social message within their music and likes the fact that they had something important to say. He does point out however that as a duo, Chuck D was the more serious one, while Flavor Flav had more levity and humour.
Gang Starr
DJ Premier (one of the greatest producers to hit the deck) and the late great Guru, made up the duo known as Gang Starr, the final entry in Paul’s list of Top 5. There’s even a moment in Paul’s life where Guru actually showed up to his birthday, and still had an itch to get on the mic.

What I’ve Discovered since Covid-19 by Amanda Skipper
At first, I wasn’t sure what to write or do for this question. I struggled with what to come up with, as I didn’t feel like I did much since quarantine started. So instead, I written a list of anything I did including shows I watched. I noticed there were a few hobbies I’ve rediscovered like animating, photography and even gaming. I’ve learned new skills as well, from starting a business to how to make a podcast and filming.
Tumblr media
However, one thing I’d like to talk about here is being more self-aware of my body. Around March I discovered a lump on my breast, it wasn’t cancerous thankfully, but still a hard lump so my thoughts were all over the place. I managed to get an appointment to the doctors at the end of March. They did a thorough check-up and since I showed no signs of the other symptoms, they were able to rule out cancer. They did still refer me to the hospital so I could find out the cause.
Tumblr media
Due to covid19, I didn’t get an appointment until June. I was told I would have the appointment by the end of the week but it never happened. Although it was fine, as I understood why, I just couldn’t help but overthink the worst outcomes in my head. Some days I forgot about it, other days I was panicking and stressing. I was in pain whenever I slept on my side, as it was very sensitive. It wasn’t until at the end of May that the pain started subsiding and I felt like myself again.
Tumblr media
At the 1st June I got a call from the hospital asking if I’d be free for an appointment that week. I went in on the Thursday calm and stress free as I was no longer worried. If anything, they struggled to find where the lump was as I no longer felt the pain. Nevertheless, they still found it. I’ve waited a couple hours and they told me it wasn’t anything serious. Rather it would heal overtime and that lumps was normal considering my age. Despite this, I was still shaken up from everything. I was worried about it for so long and I finally found my answer. Before I left, the doctor gave me a leaflet to help distinguish breast pain. Even having a mini calendar to mark off how long the pain had started. I took it upon myself to read and learn the differences, one thing I know for sure however. NEVER RELY ON GOOGLE!

The Week At Adam&Eve DDB.
Tumblr media
By Tru Prosper
Week 5 at Adam & Eve DDB was a very eye opening experience for me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be right within a communications agency, indulging in similar activities as those who work for the company.
It was fascinating to discover the fact that Adam & Eve work with a large  amount of clients to aid in advertising, content, brand management. amongst many other things. Adam & Eve work with well known brands such as; John Lewis, H&M, Google, etc. Going in with less knowledge than I did coming out, I did not have a complete understanding of how huge Adam & Eve’s reach was to the public. For example, upon our visit, we learned that Adam & Eve were responsible for totally taking the world by storm.
For the launching of Fifa 18, a campaign to grab traction and attention was put into works, to which the in game football move ‘El Tornado’ was birthed. The amount of attention raised for the game from such a tactic was completely unexpected and unbelievable. There was so much chatter and buzz around the hidden move, that it became a trending topic therefore being discussed more often than Meghan and Harry’s wedding.
I believe the process for such a campaign would begin with a client approaching for help in reaching out to a new audience (or just to create a buzz). Adam & Eve would then essentially follow the process of:
Defining the brief
Defining the scope
Strategic development
Creative concept
Creative development
Production
Deployment.
After being given the summation of Adam & Eve DDB, we as a collective were given the task to create a campaign from scratch, revolving around Loctite superglue. Being given such a task was definitely an example of being placed in the deep end. It was both stimulating and exciting. We were put into groups of 5-7 people, where we bounced ideas off of each other and further developed a concept pitch for our campaign idea.
What had to be the most enjoyable part of creating a campaign was seeing all of our ideas come together and come to life. The group I was in fed off of each other, making it an ideal environment for our creative juices to continue to flow. From bizarre and wacky ideas, to continually adding and evolving it into something closer to the final product. Being in a situation such as this allowed me to really appreciate the amount of creative freedom we had. Every idea was welcomed.
In the end, my group developed three campaign ideas which I believe all swayed to a humorous side. Our first idea was set on a boat. Naturally, on a boat, furniture is expected to move and topple over. What we had illustrated was a drawing of a table tipped over, but a flower pot firmly glued to the middle of the table, in perfect condition, not falling. The tagline for this drawing was ‘Hold tight. Loctite.’
For our second idea, we opted to head down the innuendo route. We decided that for our second idea, we would base it around a couple in the bedroom. The couple would be “making love”, with a crooked picture frame above their heads, that had been glued to it’s spot. What the crooked picture frame suggests is the fact the picture is constantly falling because of such activities the couple decide to indulge in. The tagline we agreed on for this idea was ‘Enjoy an uninterrupted night, thanks to Loctite.’
The third idea revolved around the cheating scandal between Ryan and Rhodri Giggs. The final drawing of the idea was of Ryan Giggs on the football pitch, mid-kick, with Rhodri’s hand glued to his. The tagline for this idea was ‘Don’t trust him? Never get unstuck. Loctite.’
This week at Adam & Eve DDB has helped to open up an avenue that I’d like to pursue.
