#Crowleys hyperfixation is Bentleys

Look, I know that this sign is most likely based on the Bentley logo, but I like to think Crowley had a midlife crisis and started selling Bentleys. He misses Aziraphale so put angel wings on the logo (he’s trying every method possible to get Aziraphale back and will start a whole angel themed business if necessary)

I'm gonna make this post, and to be honest, I don't know what would be worse, getting more or less love for it. But I'm gonna make it, and if anyone has complaints, you can talk to my adhd.
Two weeks after season 2:
Crowley, settling into the Bently, she stalls: "Will you quit whining."
Tries to start her up again, same resault: "quit whining or we'll never listen to classical music again."
She starts up without Crowley even touching the keys: "yeah, that's what I thought."
Still part of the ego Fandom, but a girl can float, alright! Sometimes we need Good Omens, sometimes we need Supernatural, sometimes we need Tony Stark being a lovely pain in the ass. Take it or leave it. Lol, enjoy.

Crowley's Bentley
I just now realized that Bentley's logo is actually WINGS with the letter B. Another thing that I can connect to my theory of Crowley being Baraqiel before the fall 🤔

Imagine if the Bentley has the capacity to time travel like the car in Back to the Future.
There seems to be some timey-wimey tomfoolery that production is hinting at, with the “problems in the present and past” part of the description on Amazon. How do they access the past? If it’s simply something they can do because they’re celestial/occult beings, why haven’t they done so sooner?
My theory: Crowley is the only character we’ve seen manipulate exclusively time. Time and space are connected through space-time, and we’ve seen many characters manipulate space via objects appearing/disappearing, thus indicating they can at least manipulate space if not time as well, but that’s going into space science shit I only know from my astronomy hyperfixation days and I don’t expect the Good Omens production crew to use or adhere to said science—
Okay, let’s back up and start with what’s established, yeah?
The Given Information:
Crowley is the only character we’ve seen manipulate exclusively time. Specifically, he stopped it.
The Bentley is uniquely Crowley’s. It is imbued with Crowley’s demonic essence.
The Bentley plays exclusively Queen music.
My Theory:
Crowley can stop time on his own, but with the assistance of a focus, he can manipulate it even moreso— such as travel forward or backwards (or maybe even laterally? Inter dimensional road-trip, anyone?).
The Bentley is Crowley’s focus. A focus is something seen in fantasy/magical settings, it’s a device through which a spell caster channels their magic. Think Harry Potter’s wand, Gandalf’s staff, or miscellaneous magical artifacts.
Crowley is powerful, so he can do plenty of magic without a focus, as we’ve seen him do throughout the series. But traveling through time, that takes more magical energy than the usual miracle, more mana. So to travel through time, he has to use to summon that magical energy using the Bentley.
Side note: we’ve ALREADY seen the Bentley manipulate time!! The Bentley started playing Queen music before Freddy Mercury was even born!
Hypothesis: we will see Crowley travel through time using the Bentley.
Additional notes:
The jukebox in the pub also plays only a specific artist’s music. Specifically, it plays one song. If playing a specific type of music is linked to time traveling capacity, does that mean the jukebox can also manipulate time? If so, that makes it a focus, like the Bentley. If that’s the case, then who is its user?
The production staff are referencing Clue (the movie) a lot, which has already been picked up on by some fans. Why not reference Back to the Future, another classic?
Look, I hate to bring it up, but it’s way too pertinent to the topic and I’ve already dropped a “timey-wimey” on y’all— we been knew David Tennant played the Tenth Doctor in Doctor Who. He’s also reprised the role of the Doctor recently. So maybe they’re doing a thing with him playing time traveling characters??
I’m super willing to be wrong about all of this, btw. But can you imagine??? If I was right??? Dude, I’d be so fucking psyched. Time traveling Bentley for the win, let’s fucking goooooo—
Edit: someone asked Neil if the jukebox was similar to the Bentley, what with the playing only specific music. To which, Neil responded that we were going to be learning more about the Bentley. I’d say finding out the Bentley can travel through time qualifies as “learning more”, no?

If you wanna break my cold, cold heart...
It’s become very clear to me that I’m extremely lost in The Tortured Poet’s Department which I absolutely expected and it’s no fucking wonder my two hyperfixations are colliding. Because after ugly crying through it the first few handful of times about my own life, I’m now just telegraphing that emotion onto a tv character, which is super healthy.
Seriously though,  is anyone else imagining Crowley somehow becoming obsessed with this album  while he’s still trying to work through Aziraphale fucking off back to heaven?! Baby girl full on alternately sobbing and manically laughing  in the back of the Bentley while Taylor Swift makes him feel hella seen? Compiling his own playlist of the tracks that just strip him raw?
Which, in my mind, have got to be -
“Down Bad”
For a moment I knew cosmic love… / Now I’m down bad, crying at the gym / Everything comes out teenage petulance / Fuck it if I can’t have him. / I might just die, it would make no difference. / Down bad waking up in blood / Staring at the sky, come back and pick me up / Fuck it if I can’t have us / I might not just get up, I might stay down bad…
Obvi the go-to track when he just wants to wallow in it. Just like drowning his sorrows in that pub after the angel was discorporated during the first Armageddon, ‘fuck it if I can’t have us’. Hard Crowley vibes.
“My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys”
There was a litany of reasons why / We could've played for keeps this time / I know I'm just repeating myself / Put me back on my shelf / But first - pull the string / And I'll tell you that he runs / Because he loves me. / Cause you should've seen him / When he first saw me…
My boy only breaks his favorite toys / I'm queen of sand castles he destroys / Cause I knew too much / There was danger in the heat of my touch / He saw forever so he smashed it up / Oh, my boy only breaks his favorite toys
I feel like this is their entire relationship; Aziraphale keeps him at arm’s length because it’s fucking dangerous but Crowley gets destroyed everytime.  ‘He runs because he loves me’ - what a devastating thought. They both do, gang, and that’s so sad.
“So Long London”
And you say I abandoned the ship / But I was going down with it / My white knuckle dying grip / Holding tight to your quiet resentment and / My friends said it isn't right to be scared / Every day of a love affair / Every breath feels like rarest air / When you're not sure if he wants to be there
So how much sad did you think I had / Did you think I had in me? / How much tragedy? / Just how low did you think I'd go? / Before I'd self-implode / Before I'd have to go be free
This one has gotta be for those times that he’s ready to fight back a little bit, and feels pissed about how much he tried to keep their shit together. Aziraphale thinks he gave up, he thinks Aziraphale gave up, and sometimes he thinks about fucking off from London too. But he won’t. Hopefully?
“Guilty As Sin?”
What if he's written 'mine' on my upper thigh / Only in my mind? / One slip and falling back into the hedge maze / Oh what a way to die / I keep recalling things we never did / Messy top lip kiss / How I long for our trysts / Without ever touching his skin / How can I be guilty as sin?
These fatal fantasies / Giving way to labored breath / Taking all of me / We've already done it in my head / If it's make believe / Why does it feel like a vow / We'll both uphold somehow?
What if I roll the stone away? / They're gonna crucify me anyway / What if the way you hold me / Is actually what's holy? / If long suffering propriety / Is what they want from me / They don't know how you've haunted me / So stunningly / I choose you and me … Religiously
Baby needs a song about longing. 6,000 years of longing. And uncertainty about whatever they are.  This one screaaaams Crowley’s questions about the group of the two of them. It’s so painful. Also, you know, the whole ‘sin’ thing. They spent so much time never touching, but y’all know Crowley feels that guilt anyway. Oof.
ALSO, you know Aziraphale would be wrecked by this one too. I feel like the worst part about the two of them is they're both suffering the same thing, in agonizingly similar ways. They're both carrying that horrible guilt. It's gutwrenching.
“loml”
Oh, what a valiant roar / What a bland goodbye / The coward claimed he was a lion / I'm combing through the braids of lies / "I'll never leave" … / "Never mind" / Our field of dreams, engulfed in fire / Your arson's match your somber eyes / And I'll still see it until I die / You're the loss of my life
More sadness about Aziraphale’s departure. What a shit way to end things, what a cowardly path he took (in Crowley’s mind) after poor Crowley tried his absolute-fuckin’-best to put his heart on the line. Definitely 'the loss of my life.'
“The Black Dog”
Old habits die screaming / I move through the world with the heartbroken / My longings stay unspoken / And I may never open up the way I did for you / And all of those best laid plans / You said I needed a brave man / Then proceeded to play him / Until I believed it too / And it kills me / I just don't understand
Now I want to sell my house and set fire to all my clothes / And hire a priest to come and exorcize my demons / Even if I die screaming / And I hope you hear it
This one is definitely for those times when Crowley wants to scour Aziraphale from his existence but yo, a habit built over literally ALL OF TIME isn’t going to die just screaming. If it can even die at all.
“Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus”
You said some things that I can't unabsorb / You turned me into an idea of sorts / You needed me, but you needed drugs more / And I couldn't watch it happen / I changed into goddesses, villains, and fools / Changed plans and lovers and outfits and rules / All to outrun my desertion of you / And you just watched it
If you wanna break my cold, cold heart / Just say, "I loved you the way that you were" / If you wanna tear my world apart / Just say you've always wondered
Ya know our boy has guilt over letting Aziraphale go where he absolutely could not follow, and I feel like he’d probably spend a bunch of time trying to change a ton of things in his life  just to avoid ‘the desertion of you’ but yooo, what cuts right to the core is ‘I love you the way that you were.’  All this poor demon wanted to hear, wants to hear.
“How Did it End?”
We were blind to unforeseen circumstances / We learn the right steps to different dances / And fell victim to interlopers' glances / Lost the game of chance, what are the chances?
It's happenin' again / How did it end? / I can't pretend like I understand / How did it end?
Definitely another one for wallowing. Have I found myself screeching out ‘how did it end?!’ everytime it comes up? Yes. And I feel like a drunk Crowley would too. ‘It’s happening again’ would definitely hit home to him, how many times have they been through this?
“The Prophecy”
But I looked to the sky and said / Please / I've been on my knees / Change the prophecy / Don't want money / Just someone who wants my company / Let it once be me / Who do I have to speak to / About if they can redo / The prophecy?
I'm so afraid I sealed my fate / No sign of soulmates / I'm just a paperweight / In shades of greige / Spending my last coin so someone will tell me / It'll be ok / Please
At some point it’s likely he figures out all of this was definitely always going to happen, right? Little snake has always been at the whims of the inevitable (ineffable), and all he ever tried to do was make his own choices but he’s stuck in circumstances he absolutely cannot change. This one is all about pleading. Bargaining phase, you know. But ‘just someone who wants my company’ absolutely kills me. Somebody tell this demon it’ll be okay.
And so yeah I’m imagining the Thin Dark Duke is just playing ALL of those on repeat forever, until he finally gets to this place:
“Imgonnagetyouback”
Whether I'm gonna be your wife or / Gonna smash up your bike, I / Haven't decided yet / But I'm gonna get you back
I  hear the whispers in your eyes / I'll make you wanna think twice / You'll find that you were never not mine / You're mine
Bygones will be bygone eras fadin' into gray / We broke all the pieces but still want to play the game / Told my friends, "I hate you but I love you just the same" / Pick your poison, babe / I'm poison either way
Because you know it’s SO Crowley to be absolutely fucking furious at the end of it all, but resolved to get Aziraphale back under any circumstances. I love him running around with the energy of ‘Whether I'm gonna curse you out or take you back to my house, I haven't decided yet’ but he IS resolute in seeing his stupid angel again. This is as positive as he’s gonna get, and I love that for him.
Did I spend way too much time writing this out for absolutely no reason? Yes. But gang, I have to believe Taylor Swift can reach anyone, even ethereal entities. Joiiiiin the Tortured Poet’s Department, Crowley, you know you want to…

Inktober 2023 (Days 17-20)
Prompt: Demon
I’ve been hyperfixating on Good Omens for the past month. So when I got this prompt, I decided it was a great opportunity to draw some art of Crowley. Him just looking out the window of his Bentley, staring up at the night sky.
Also I know I skipped days 13-16. That one will be posted towards the end of Inktober, because I want to spend more time on it and not rush the quality.

Trying to balance my "omg ofmd s2 trailer" feels with my good omens 2 hyperfixation at 5am led to this:
So you're telling me that directly after we saw Aziraphale fall in love with Crowley in 1941, they got in the Bentley...
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
...and then Aziraphale asked Crowley to give him a shot in the mouth?

I'm so sorry, I will log off now goodnight.

for the game please:
common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
that one thing you see in fanart all the time
it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...
your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
So I've written a couple iterations of this answer across the past few months of trying to catch up with my inbox and realized in general that most of it just comes down to like people consuming media in a way I find exhausting. Like that's a bigger thing that this question is trying to get at but honestly it's the thing I see the most these days where someone takes meta too seriously or starts arguing over something on someone else's post or things like that. And like. Listen. There's nothing wrong with being attached to a piece of media and emotionally invested in it. Like I get it. This media has been a hyperfixation in my brain for decades at this point and I care about them a great deal, but there's a difference between that investment and letting strangers ruin your day because your versions of a character are different or you favor different theories on something. Or. I dunno. I genuinely like seeing takes that are different from my own? Even if I don't agree with certain things it's fascinating to see the different experiences people have with the media we all engage with. And it's so important to keep in mind with literary analysis personal life experiences impact what we read as being on screen just as much as what's actually literally on the screen does. This is why we see different things in the same piece of media and I think that can be one of the best things about media in general. But a lot of meta comes across as this is the One Truth - and this is partially because you are presenting an argument and the language that goes with that lends itself to that angle - and I think that's a really unhealthy way to go about this. Like there's a reason I write meta that can contradict each other right? It's literary analysis not an argument I'm preparing for a debate. In my experience if you're so locked into proving yourself right it's really easy for meta to devolve into something that's doing more harm to you than good - especially when it's impacting your enjoyment of the media and the fandom in the first place.
That being said, on a more lighter note that's probably more in the spirit of this question, my longest running version of this is the whole Crowley loving Queen thing. Don’t get me wrong I think it’s a fun character trait to assign to him, but it does kind of make me laugh because I grew up with the interpretation that the Bentley doing this was a constant minor annoyance in Crowley’s life. One of the most relatable scenes in the book to me was Crowley using music to try to get his mind off the Antichrist situation only for the Bentley to play Bohemian Rhapsody, prompting him to shriek and scramble to turn the music off. And I just adore the idea of the Bentley being a little bit of a menace and Crowley being like a grumbly pet owner in a constant state of fond annoyance.
that one thing you see in fanart all the time
Mmm, generally, this fandom is pretty fantastic when it comes to its art but, the one thing that’ll make me not reblog a piece of art is making Aziraphale too skinny.
it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on…
Religious text as inspiration for fanfiction? I understand why people don't want to engage with it, don't get me wrong, but there's certain stories I’m shocked I've never seen repurposed for fanfic. Exhibit A of this is the story about Nehushtan, the brazen/bronze/fiery serpent who heals and protects the wandering Israelites from seraphs sent to punish them for questioning God, in particular, is one I'm always shocked that I've never even seen referenced even as a throwaway line.
your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
Honestly this fandom doesn't miss much and the thing I started answering this with kind of devolved into 80% just it's own meta post so we're gonna not go down that rabbit hole twice but the sort answer is I feel like we don't talk nearly enough about the fact that the way magic works is at least slightly tied to belief, expectation, and assumptions of the entities wielding it. I'm obsessed with it.

hi! I was wondering if you had any writing advice? Im currently collecting it to find something that works for me and im just wondering about other peoples processes when it comes to plotting out a story.
(i'm not sure, but this may be the first time someone on anon has asked me for writing advice. i feel like this is a milestone dslfkjdslkf)
so! i am very much a 'write by the seat of your pants' style kind of guy. i don't do big outlines, i don't do summaries to keep track. but, there are a few things i do which help me stay focused. and there are a few things i do to help the creative process in general.
and this got long, so it's going under a cut lol
first things first, when i get to the end of a writing session (which for me lasts between 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending on how much the hyperfixation has a choke hold) i make sure i know where i'm headed next, by putting the next plot point into a bracket. i'm never very specific until the words for the first draft are actually typed out, but just the next broad idea that i want to bounce off of. here are a few from my older GO fic, 'bookstores, bentleys, and everything between'
Tumblr media
this is what an average thing looks like, though i have been known to get very shitposty with them as well. the shitposting type happens when i have been writing for far too long, and am in desperate need of a break.
Tumblr media
if no one else is going to see these, then have fun with them.
here's another, longer version with details.
Tumblr media
i'm glad i do stuff like this when i reach a stopping point, because i've lost so many good ideas over the years assuming i'd remember where i was going when i get back to the doc. and i never do.
the other main bit of advice i have for story construction might be a bit controversial. i call it, 'chase the fun'.
very simple. very complex. it's both. it's a thing.
basically! i don't write in chronological order if there's something exciting too far away. i despise moments where i think to myself, 'oh, there's going to be a kickass moment in chapter 12 where there's going to be this cool action scene, but i'm only two chapters in. i guess i'll have to write all that other stuff before i get to the cool scene :('
don't do that shit! it'll eat at you, and you'll find yourself losing enthusiasm and getting frustrated with your project. i dislike writing in chronological order of a story because it's extremely limited. so!
chase the fun!
write the cool scenes, the action scenes, the self indulgent stuff. get it out of your system, and then after you've written the stuff that surrounds it, stitch it all together during the editing process. not only does it feel great to write all the cool things, you can often get inspired with new ways of going, 'how do we get here'? when you head back in. and you can add ass kicking foreshadowing and all that groovy stuff people like. stitching together everything and making the timeline correct during the editing process is mildly irritating, but i'd rather do that than plod along, desperately wanting to get to the coolest parts. go with the flow, let the inspiration take you where it takes you. don't hold off on it because you want to write everything in order the first time around.
'writing by the seat of your pants' also allows for 'idea stacking', which can be an important part of the process for more complex works. take, for example, my latest GO fic. i'll be brief and avoid spoilers, but i think it gives you a pretty good idea of how i plot my stuff out.
concept: i would like crowley and aziraphale to be my godfathers, so i can have some found family/comfort vibes. but we need a few roadblocks in the way, so it can be on the slower side, and not rushed. what can i do with my character that will add difficulties to their relationships?
idea stack 1: maybe he had a godfather before they came along, but he's missing.
sub idea 1: that would be a great source of angst for my character, actually. imagine not being able to find someone you love. loads of grief, there, and uncertainty.
idea stack 2: well, if my godfather is going to be a counterpart to aziraphale and crowley, maybe he should have powers too!
sub idea 2: my IRL godfather who i am referencing in the story practices magic. let's throw that in there, but make him much more powerful.
idea stack 3: how would aziraphale and crowley know that my fictional godfather can do powerful magic? well- maybe he left something that jay has. a necklace, perhaps. and it's very enchanted.
sub idea 3: of course, now we have to work out how my godfather knew how to enchant necklaces, and why he has special powers. and if he has special powers, where the heck is he now?
idea stack 4: so! new plot thread unlocked. my character's godfather has vanished without a trace, leaving behind a powerfully enchanted necklace. aziraphale and crowley are trying to work out whether or not they should be concerned about this, and what heaven or hell is doing interfering with this character's life to such a major extent. mystery abounds!
sub idea 4: so, is my fictional godfather of heaven or hell? he must be high ranking if he can enchant a necklace to such a crazy extent. i'll do research into angelic and demonic hierarchy, and make a few decisions on where everyone is placed.
idea stack 5: (REDACTED BECAUSE OF SPOILERS)
and so on. this is one grouping of ideas that spitballed because i thought about the implications of the previous idea. if you do this a few times in the right places, you've got yourself a nuanced and complex story. keep in mind, all this above developed over the course of a few weeks, and wasn't all immediate. still fun though. ideas shouldn't be isolated, i think they should connect to other story elements.
hope this helps!

hello! i'm jadzia. i write stuff and even post it sometimes! here are other things about me:
current hyperfixation: good omens. i am reading the book and have watched the show through twice in a month, which is a rare amount of engagement for me!
audhd, jewish (secular), approximately six-thousand bees in a trench coat
when i'm not doing gremlin things on the internet i am attempting to make a career of music!
my most recent fic can be found here.
title: as you find the string to strike within me rated e, 3.3k words. ao3 summary:
“I’ve had a thought,” said Aziraphale.
Where Crowley was concerned, this statement from Aziraphale could generally be relied upon to mean one of two things. The first was that Aziraphale would now attempt to talk him into something he did not want to do, on account of the thing in question being either far too “enriching” (a collection of renaissance-era astronomy books that failed to agree with one another on even the most basic facts of creation, and each took upward of three hundred pages to do it,) or, tragically, to do with the Bentley (which could not, as it happened, be forced into playing Strauss’ Enoch Arden by any means magical or material for longer than thirty seconds at a stretch).
The second was that Aziraphale wanted to try an unconventional sex thing, which he would now struggle valiantly to ask for.

Good Omens, sort of interactive
Tumblr media
In order to feed my hyperfixation of Good Omens, I came up with some fun. Here is how it goes: You can do this alone or with someone else who also likes Good Omens, maybe a friend. Choose a favourite scene from Good Omens with no more than two of the characters in it. (More characters than two will make this rather confusing.) It should be a scene which you can easily re-enact, so better do not choose the one where the Bentley explodes, the one where Aziraphale (disguised as Crowley) sits in that bathtub in Hell or something else which might get tricky to play. Preparation: If you do this with another person, let both of you choose whom to play in the scene. Make sure you both feel comfortable with playing the characters and the scene you have chosen. Of course, you could also swap the characters, playing the scene twice. If you need props or furniture for the scene, maybe sunglasses, a tea cup or a chair, see if you find something in your flat or house that fits. Obviously, if you have a Good Omens Cosplay, this would be a nice opportunity to wear it. And it would also maybe help you to get a feeling for the character(s). Let's get started Enable the subtitles in the language in which you have watched the series. Turn down the volume to zero. Start the scene on a screen - a big one, if possible, for instance on your TV or PC. Make sure both of you (or you alone) can watch the scene easily. Now watch it and read the lines of the subtitles out loud. Act them out, imitate the postures and movements of the characters, while you watch them. Maybe at first, this is going to feel weird, so maybe give it another try. Next level: If you feel like it, you can also learn the lines of the scene by heart. Or maybe you already know them. In that case you can switch off the subtitles.
And another level of course would be to play the whole scene without watching it on your screen, but this is of course only possible if you have indeed learned the lines and can speak them fluently while you play the scene.
Enjoy! And of course, you can also do this with other movies and shows and your favourite scenes from them.

#9 or “Is she over Good Omens yet???”
The answer, dear journeyers, is no. Not now, though I won’t say not ever, because many moons ago this would have been nothing but Harry Potter art. My how times change.
And so without further ado, I give you yet another Crowley scene.
Tumblr media
I started playing more with backgrounds and effects, hence the slight orange haze and smoke. I also studied David Tennant a bit for structure, which was another new experience. All in all, I can’t say this one was fun, but was somehow satisfying?
