TENTACLE TOURNAMENT ROUND 1

[Bouncing-with-endless-joy], [The-cool-embrace-of-perfect-twilight], and [Quilted-with-the-wisdom-of-arts-long-practiced] are the Sector Demigods of the city's three Residential Sectors.

Of all the Mighty Children they are the most consistently approachable. While they are no more capable of expressing themselves through language than any other Mighty Child, they can be found socially interacting with people throughout their sectors. Bouncing Joy is the most physical, constantly hugging and encouraging young Tsan Chan citizens to play. Cool Embrace is more reserved, preferring to act as a quiet confidant and empathetic listener. Quilted Wisdom enjoys joining in on projects and activities of a more artistic bent. Countless murals and hangings across the city have been aided by Quilted Wisdom.

The three don't stay in their own dedicated Sectors and wander not only each other's but all the Sectors that have citizens living there. Cool Embrace in particular sometimes walks through the Yellow Sector to visit Cassilda on her isolated island home.

They all give good hugs. Bouncing Joy is like hugging a gigantic, firm koosh ball. Cool Embrace is like if the cold side of the pillow could hug you back. Quilted Wisdom will turn you into a blanket burrito.

Some more Lovecraftian statsim progress! The whole game is fully coded and functional, so now I just need to input all of the (many, many, many) expressions for the main heroine, Cthulhu-chan. After that, it should be all wrapped up! Here are some WIP screenshots, featuring a random event and one of the more violent endings. Doesn't Cthulhu look so happy? :D She's completely deranged, and I think that's adorable! ♡

Digimon Tamers - Episode 7

This episode was great. We finally learn more about the scientist people (HYPNOS) and Ruki/Takato get some friendship development. Not a ton happened (I can tell by my lack of screenshots), but as usual the vibes were great lol.

Notes:

Like I said in my previous post, this show doesn't have a formula. There wasn't even a battle or monster-of-the-week this time! So refreshing.

I really wonder where they're going with the "Culumon doesn't need a tamer/home" plot line. I kinda hope they respect his independence and the moral doesn't end up being "everyone needs a partner!" As a happy single person I kinda felt seen when he was like "loneliness? What's that? Sounds dumb!"

So HYPNOS is kinda like the FBI, tracking all of our internet activity. Seems sort of ahead of its time for 2001! That's a major concern nowadays (obviously). When they were like "if the general public found out they'd be furious!" I was like...woah. Prophetic. (Although maybe we were worried about that already in 2001. I dunno. I was 9...damn I shoulda been watching Digimon Tamers. I was the perfect age!)

Speaking of the internet! Ruki's grandma being into chat rooms and being like "maybe your parents will buy you a computer" was great (remember the "family computer?") Since Ruki's 10 (and her mom is pretty young) she has a young, hip grandma. It's nice to see an anime grandma that's not so stereotypical. The fact that Ruki was like "ew computers!" was unexpected...

I totally don't get why Takato feels it's okay to walk around in broad daylight with Guilmon in Tokyo yet everyone else hides their digimon. It's totally inconsistent! And then there was a scene in the school hallway where Jian was just chillin' with Terriermon on his shoulders. What the heck??

Ruki not wanting to be called "Ruki-chan" was great. Says a lot about her character. I wondered what the equivalent was though since using first names without an honorific is usually seen as a sign of closeness. I guess it's not that big a deal when you're 10? I checked the dub and they just made her angry about Takato referencing his dream about her. That was a smart way to localize it.

Guilmon fading in Takato's arms was very Infinity War Spider-man vibes. Especially with Guilmon's innocent reaction.

Whelp. I had to look up what "Yuggoth" was because it sounded familiar...it's an HP Lovecraft reference. I see what's going on here. There was that Cthulhu reference in 02 by the same director...

Good to see some non-stock animation of the HYPNOS people. They don't seem very good at their job lol. Maybe they need to get out of their little room more.

When Guilmon said "Renamon bye bye!" I died of cuteness ;w; Renamon doesn't treat Guilmon that nicely, but he still sees her as a playmate.
