Pinwheel Shelter, Upper Susa Valley, Italy,

Perched 2,850 meters above sea level, the Pinwheel Shelter represents a remarkable fusion of architectural innovation and a heartfelt tribute to the late alpinist Stefano Berrone.

This mountain refuge employs prefabricated Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) panels and aluminium cladding to achieve both aesthetic elegance and environmental sensitivity.

Inside, the design is both functional and symbolic, with a central fireplace and sleeping areas arranged around it, reminiscent of traditional Japanese tatami mat proportions. T

By providing a safe haven for climbers and hikers in a region prone to sudden meteorological changes, the shelter serves a vital function while celebrating Berrone's legacy.

Ford Thunderbird Italien Concept, 1962.  A design study by Ford’s Thunderbird stylists. This special version of the third generation T-bird featured a fastback roof line and red leather bucket seats front and rear. The Italien was a part of Ford’s 1962-63 “Custom Car Caravan” and appeared in Autoramas throughout the United States. The restored car sold at auction in 2008 for $660,000.00

Seit geraumer Zeit ist ein erhöhter Reiseverkehr durch Camper bemerkbar. Spätestens seit Pandemie und Krise, also seit einer Zeit, in der Regierungen den Reiseverkehr drastisch eingeschränkt und Beherbergungsbetriebe geschlossen haben, wurde das Alleinsein in der Natur wieder wichtiger. Natürlich – und das kommt immer erschwerend hinzu – nur nicht, ohne auf modernen Komfort verzichten zu…

es hat etwas von tapete aus den jahren des mittleren 20. jahrhunderts... etwas miefig und dann doch die widerspinstige distel... recht passend, denn der roman hat nicht die absicht einfach nur angenehm zu sein - ganz im gegenteil. anecken scheint programm. eine umschlaggestaltung schlicht, ansprechend und zum kauf verlockend. so sollte es doch an sich sein... (rezension zum roman im vorigen beitrag)
