#Disappointing tbh

I’ve been playing Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, and just finished one of the routes, and all I’ve got to say is

i saw the transkriget documentary and i didnt like it

the episodes were so short so it mostly felt like watching a clipshow compilation and not an actual documentary? they scratched the surface of a few important aspects (clinicians with criticisms, the influence of RFSL on healthcare, things like LGBTQ-certification, etc) but it was really hard to know what the viewer is supposed to take away from it.

if you compare it to something like UG where there were some clear take-home messages like "the hospital intentionally minimised harm being done to children" or "healthcare was ideologically driven"; it was really hard to pick out a message from this other than "its really complicated so we should slow down" i guess? and with the material they had they could have done something like "lobby groups were too close to the government and also influenced healthcare" like Nolan Investigates Stonewall did.

I do have to say that I am pretty unimpressed by the Spiegel's complete one-sided reporting with regards to the conflict. You do usually, to an extent, see a somewhat differentiated view on most topics (though sometimes painfully liberal). But for the Gaza conflict their tone has completely shifted in a way that did shock me.

Exemplified by the fact that they reported Zizek's speech at the Frankfurt book fair only as a "I condemn Hamas, but" without diving much deeper into the meat of his argument at all.

And then I watched his speech and it's not even that outrageously pro Palestine. His speech mainly consists of stating history and facts surrounding the conflict, bringing up, among other things, that Ben Gvir was part of an organisation banned by the Israeli government for being too right wing. And yet the Spiegel completely ignores that in favour of lambasting him for a "yes, but". I guess I expected some more journalistic integrity from them.

i read Role Playing by Cathy Yardley and friends it was *the cozy*. A mature geeky romance involving imperfect characters? Ace/demi and bi rep? A violently grumpy yet very loving introvert? A sensitive and loyal teddy bear of a man? Almost no romantic angst? Perfection.

But friends let me complain for just a moment.

The FMC Maggie is described as a nearly 50 year old small biracial asian woman. Her body made a child and it shows just enough. She's described as having wild frizzy hair and wears unflattering but comfortable large and bulky clothes. Other characters in the story make comments regarding her trollish appearance more than once. She knows how to groom and dress and polish herself if needed but is far past giving any fucks to please people.

So why does she look like this on the cover?

I know that the cover design is separate from the book, but damn y'all who is this woman? Why is this woman? We know someone who looks like her will end up like this I've been learning that since I could walk. I wanted a cutesy drawing of the trollish main character being adored by her vulnerable bear man, damnit.

Dead on main au where

1. Danny wears a 1/2 face mask as a ghost to make sure his parents don’t find out who he is

2. The decision to start wearing the mask was a spontaneous thing that happened at school and he stole the mask from his high school’s theater department

3. Danny moves to Gotham as soon as he turns 18 on a scholarship but it doesn’t include dorm fees.

4. Danny hides out in an abandoned theater (the attic is surprisingly well insulated!!!!) and spends most of his time there as a ghost because he can’t anywhere else in Gotham.

5. An injured Red hood limps his way into one of his favorite old hideouts (the theater obviously), and promptly passes out from blood loss with the hazy image of a masked glowing spector as the last thing he sees.

6. He wakes up enough to hear soft reassurances of safety and feel cool hands carry him with no noticeable strain.

7. Jason comes to in a giant nest of blankets with his wound neatly stitched up, a killer headache, and a sticky note wishing him well/ promising the writer didn’t leak under the helmet (a fact Jason is well aware of considering his head is very much unexploded)

8. Jason tries to leave but he passes out again and is honestly too tired to try again when he comes back around. So he just…falls asleep.

9. Jason wakes up again to warm food on an old silver tray and an empty room, not knowing Danny is watching him from the corner to make sure he doesn’t fall again. Not that Danny wouldn’t catch him again, but he’d prefer it didn’t happen at all.

In short, Danny plays elusive nurse to the dangerous red hood while Jason sees a literal ghost that lives in an abandoned theater wearing a phantom of the opera mask and decides he’s found a keeper. Clearly he appreciates the drama.

the witcher netflix adaptation pisses me off so much !!! it had such a great potential but they managed to fuck it up in the dumbest way possible. they change not only the storyline but also the core and development of the characters, its mythical story aura and main/side themes are completely lost
