The next day...

He had decided to let it all out. He had accepted the truth and he felt ready to tell her. But how do you ask a computer out anyway? He walked in the room. Dead silence. He approached the desk and sat on the chair. Karen's sensors detected his movement and she turned on.

- Hello, Mr. Plankton! How was your day?

- Oh, you know, the usual. The exact same sequence of disappointment, fighting, misery and failure. How much longer will I have to endure this, Karen?

"About 7 more months, sir." Karen replied, while displaying the year calendar on her screen, with the graduation day in a circle. "It was a rhetorical question, but thanks anyway. Say, can I ask you something, umm, less technical?" Sheldon asked hesitantly. "You can ask me anything, sir." She replied in a cheerful tone.

Okay, here goes nothing...

-What is love, Karen?

- According to my dictionary, love encompasses a range of strong and positive emotional and mental states, from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal affection, to the simplest pleasure. Most commonly, love refers to a feeling of strong attraction and emotional attachment.

Her voice sounded almost monotonous. There was no way this was going to work. But he won't give up yet. Not that easily. "Can you understand love...?"

[On her screen] ANALYZING...

His eyes were stuck on her screen, as he waited in suspense for a (hopefully) positive answer. Several minutes had passed, but it felt like ages. At last, the display on her screen changed back to her talking mode. "I can now." He almost passed out. His heart was beating fast and breathing became difficult. His hands started shaking. But he had to get himself together, because it was time for the final part of his plan. "So uh- ...Karen? There is something I have to tell you..." he had never asked a girl out in his life, let alone a computer with a female voice. With a cracked voice he continued: "I- I love you, Karen. I know this might be odd or illogical, and you surely cannot feel it back, but what I feel is strong enough for both of us. Will you- will you be my girlfriend, Karen?"

[On her screen] ANALYZING...

- Are you sure about this, Mr. Plankton? I have to warn you, this relationship is impossible to get physical and my emotions are artificial. Will this give you the happiness you are in need of?

- Well, I don't know if I need it, but I know very well what I want, even if I don't really understand why yet. And all I want now is to be with you.

Because you are the reason I still haven't given up.

- Then you know what to do.

Without wasting time, he made the necessary changes in her personality code to create a new mode for Karen, with an altered vocabulary and way of processing data. Several hours later, the update was ready to be installed.

[On her screen]:

PROCCEED WITH UPDATE "SIGNIFICANT_OTHER_MODE"?

>YES <

>NO

Sheldon took a moment to think. He kept looking at the arrow appear and disappear next to the word "YES". All this seemed crazy. But he knew, at this point, if one day he returned home and she weren't there, if something happened to her, he would lose it. She might look like a common security system connected to a bunch of computer parts, but she was much more than that. She was everything that kept him through. She was the only one he could open up to when he needed it without feeling bad about it, when his day was worse than awful, when existing seemed unbearable. She was there, on the desk, waiting for him every time. She was the most important thing in his life and even if he didn't like to admit it, he felt genuine love for this machine. Not the kind of love the creator has for his creation, but the I-wanna-spend-my-life-with-you kind of love. He took a deep breath and pressed "Enter".

And that's how this special relationship began. At first, it still felt somewhat weird, even wrong, sometimes. It sure was what he wanted, but it was something really bizarre, especially for that time. He had to keep it a secret, because if people learned about it, he would become stigmatized as that weirdo, that guy who dates his computer, that one eyed freak with the imaginary girlfriend. But, as the time passed, he started feeling more comfortable with the whole situation and stopped thinking about others. All he cared about was his own happiness and as long as he was with her, he was happy. Giving Karen 8bit flowers and kisses on her screen became a great part of his life and filled his heart with joy. He started feeling more confident and free. Everything was perfect.

Almost.

I think so, mainly because of several rumors I've heard regarding Amy's original plans for season 7, as well as what she wrote for the revival.

From what I know, apparently Amy's original ending to season 6 had Rory going to Truncheon in one of the final shots instead of Lorelai sleeping with Christopher, but I think this was changed once her contract wasn't renewed with the CW. I also think I've heard that Milo wouldn't work on any new season unless Amy was making it out of loyalty, so likely any plans the season 7 writers might've had in including Jess were probably out the window with that as well.

There's also the fact that the revival feels more like Amy's second chance at making her season 7 from the original show instead of a continuation for the chatacters' lives, since some illogical plot details like Logan apparently living in London now and Luke and Lorelai still not being married are in it despite 10 years having passed so far. I do think that if Amy had gotten to make her season 7, she likely would've wanted Milo to be included in more episodes for it, but at the time he was also starring in Heroes and for the revival, as far as I'm aware he was also working on This Is Us. But in an ideal situation, I definitely think he would've been in at least several episodes in a seventh season.
