It’s not outrage bait, I swear! It honestly did not occur to me that, faced with a handful of small things of various sizes, shapes, and colors, tumblr users would NOT immediately sort them. (I personally take five in the morning, which I put in a little pile next to my cereal bowl, and then sneak them into my mouth between bites, largest first, like I’m tricking a dog.) 

I was not expecting over 50,000 responses to this poll. I have fewer than 100 followers, and that’s including the pornbots. But the notes are fascinating to read! 

“All at once,” or as one person called it, “the cursed jello shot,” was by far the most popular response, despite my forgetting to put it as a poll option. [The following quotes are all by different people.]

I am amazed at how many pills you all are taking at once. 

YES I usual to take 7 pills at once just to save time like a fucking animal #all at once #even if I have like 8 and they're huge #i take 9 pills at once about twice a day I take about 10 pills. There were also a couple of notes from people who USED TO do the cursed jello shot but don’t anymore because they choked or, in one case, misfired and spent the day with a Claritin in their cleavage. 

Other things that didn’t occur to me: pills that dissolve under your tongue; people who use feeding tubes; the options of “in order from least tasty to most tasty;” random order; texture order; order in which they were prescribed; “whatever I grab first;” “all at once except the fish oil which is unreasonably large;’ order of how easy it is to swallow; in order of buoyancy because some pills float; by shape; “I only take one pill at once;” “top to bottom of my body so head pills first birth control last.”

In conclusion: I’m glad we’re all doing what we need to do to survive and thrive. I’ll be over here with my cereal bowl. Thank you for participating in the poll.

Hello~ I saw you've reblogged some of your smut with a community labels tag and I was just curious what your experience with them has been so far?

Some people say they result in shadowbanned content, others say people just don't understand how settings work, etc.

Hello thanks for asking! To be completely transparent with you, I don't always use the community labels mainly because I tend to forget when posting in the moment. That said, before I started to go back and add them manually, only one of my smut posts was ever put under the label by Tumblr staff itself, ironically after I was reporting pornbot blog accounts spamming the tags, and that scared me enough to do a mass edit the first time.

I will say, if you submit your content with the community label when posting, it WILL immediately be censored so if you use tags for reach, the posts may not show up in most tags. At least that was my experience. I don't believe my blog was ever shadowbanned but I did see it happen to a lot of other writers and mutual friends although I am unclear if they were specifically reported for it.

Nowadays, I make explicit disclaimers and warnings in the summary before a read more cut and in tags so people know what they're getting into. After an amount of time, I go back and add the community labels so as not to get reported in the future.

Disclaimers and warnings aside, Tumblr users are responsible for their own reading experience and if they choose to read such content, they are acknowledging that my work is mature and/or dark and they are consenting to read it. If they don't like it, it's not my problem but don't be a dick and report NSFW blogs just because you can (not aimed at you specifically just anyone who does this that resulted in some of my friends abandoning their blogs.)

Hope my experience gives you some insight but tldr; I don't use them at first because it strangles reach but I make appropriate disclaimers and warnings. I add the labels after a few weeks (whenever I remember)

Post Covid Ramblings

Ok so back at the begining of 2022, I got Covid. Bad. It took me two months just to barely get back on my feet and nearly September before I started feeling like myself.

Then I got it again at the beginning of this year. -_-

The second time wasn't so bad, like a really rough flu, but not nearly as debilitating.

I had both vaccines when i got it the first time and a booster by the time I got it the second time. Speaking of, I need to reup that booster...

But I'm still not fully back.

Like...I've lost quite a bit mentally. My short term memory is shot and my language centers took a hard hit. I'm getting words mixed up. I'm forgetting words. I'm having a hard time concentrating on the written word.

So this is what I'm doing about it. I'm gonna try and spend ten minutes every day just writing about whatever. Just letting the words come to me as they do. And maybe I'll stop mixing up Cadillac and catalytic converter. Eventually.

But yeah, the doc's just basically shrug and go "That's long Covid." And one idiot even suggested I stop taking my anti-depressant and I was like "Uh...no thank you. My executive dysfunction has actually gotten worse. I would like to be at least semi-functional."

But the brain is a muscle, right? So since language is where I'm struggling, I figure I might as well attempt to exercise it.

I don't really have much in the way of attention span to devote to fanfic, though I've got a couple different idea floating about. But I figure these short little...flow of consciousness exercises might help.

Can't hurt at least.

So feel free to ignore these. It's easier to write here than keep a journal. And I like chatting with people and getting other points of view about these things. I'm gonna tag these with 'Covid journal' if you want to ignore them.

And, for we shouldn't forget that porn and sex isn't allowed on here, maybe DON'T put all the pornbots their tumblr lives right in everyone's faces???? I'm still kind of a newbie here and tumblr block culture is honestly so wild. I don't want to block anybody (except for pornbots) for anything unless people are getting personally mean. If you're mean I'll probably just tell you personally that I don't appreciate that and will hope that things will improve and we can co-exist peacefully. I try not to talk about anything that can be seen as an attempt to shit on something because it's damn upsetting, and I know that. Like I'm sure that irl I'd probably get along with most of the people I share a common interest even if we don't agree on some part of it, because you know, usually people don't want to be enemies with anyone they have more things in common than not. It's so easy to put someone in a hater category based on some bullshit, it's so easy to assume the worst in people based on one short interaction that more than likely wasn't even intended to be an attempt to upset or offend anyone, although some folks sure as hell are often forgetting to tone down their regular spite level when they're talking to people online.

I'm not trying to say that it's better to do the same, like who am I to argue with the kind of culture that formed through the years and that generally work for people to keep them out of upsetting things. It's just weird to me, that's all

I don't care if people have opinion different than mine, I actually LOVE to hear different perspectives. I only hate it when it's getting from genuine dialogue into just some "I hate X people because they're stupid for thinking Y"

And even if we argue about something it's more than likely that I still think about you as a nice person and don't automatically wish to never see you again (unless I specifically state otherwise). People often disagree irl and that's OK, no need to assume that we're some arch-enemies just because we had one argument and disagreed on something or miscommunicated

I’m pretty good, though! not getting where I want to be writing-wise, but what else is new. I hit a roadblock with CP chapter 3 and cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get around it without saying “fuck it” and scrapping the bit that I’m stuck on completely and then just rewriting the whole chapter at a later date so I can move on. which I am probably going to end up doing, but I have to allow myself to rage-quit on it or I'll just keep coming back to it. (I’m also attempting at the whole personal fiction writing thing, but that’s failing even harder, so we’ll pretend she does not exist for now.)
