Jessica Preston : Why are you so worried about him?
Dr. Aaron Glassman : He showed up late for work half a dozen times, he calls me at 2:00 in the morning because he can't find a screwdriver, and his superintendent wants to kick him out of his building.
Jessica Preston : Did you show up?
Dr. Aaron Glassman : What?
Jessica Preston : At 2:00 in the morning when he called you about a lost screwdriver, did you show up?
Dr. Aaron Glassman : He was frantic. I didn't know what he was gonna do.
Jessica Preston : There are 47 residents here, and all of them show up late sometimes, all of them make mistakes, and hopefully, all of them learn. If you want to worry about Shaun, fine. But you fought to hire him because you know he can learn. The question is are you willing to let him?

Can You Fix My Heart?

Dr Aaron Glassman x OFC
Rating/Warning: Alcoholism/Drug use, implied sexual content.
Summary: You are the world's best Cardio Surgeon, back with Dr Glassman to execute the final stage of your research into heart growth. Everyone wants a piece of you, on the outside, you're lovable, charming, witty and entirely happy with your life; but Glassman knows your demons far better than that.
Chapter 1
Dr Glassman sat at the head of the table in the conference room. Everyone had been called in for this one, but in his heart, a nervousness was swelling. It may not have gone the way they thought it would.
You liked San Jose so far. The sun beat down against your skin, warming it. You pulled your aviators from your inside pocket of the denim jacket you often wore, sliding them up your nose and breathing in the soft breeze that flew passed your face.
You knew the impression you gave people, you knew the impression the people waiting in the conference room would get of you. You didn’t really care all that much. In fact, there was only one opinion that mattered, and you were sure Glassman would keep it to himself.
‘She’s late.’ Jessica said, checking her watch.
‘Very much so.’ Dr Glassman nodded. ‘I told her we’d be meeting at two.’
‘I thought it was a four o’clock meeting.’
Glassman smiled to himself. ‘It is, so really, she’s only ten minutes late.’
Dr Andrews smirked, but said nothing.
Glassman glanced out of the window, standing after seeing your figure gliding on your skateboard through the clusters of people exiting and entering the hospital.
‘She’s here.’ He said, watching you disappear towards the entrance below.
You adjusted the leather rucksack over your shoulder, pushing off the ground to gain a little more speed. The hospital was right in front of you. It was impressive and everything Glassman had told you it was. You were going to enjoy working here.
You dismounted from your board, carrying it towards the reception desk.
‘Hi there, my name is Dr Ashley Barker. Dr Glassman is expecting me.’ You charmed the receptionist.
She looked at you curiously, eyes flickering towards your aviators and then your board, before calling up to the conference room.
‘This way.’ She said, hanging up the phone.
You followed her towards the elevator, glancing around the beautiful building. It was a far cry from some of the places you had visited.
You saw a few doctors gathering in the hallways, each of them trying to get a look at you. You knew your arrival was kind of a big deal and relished in the attention for a while.
Dr Kalu turned to Dr Melendez and Dr Browne. ‘Was that Dr Barker?’
‘Dr Ashley Barker, yes.’ Melendez nodded, stopping what he was doing to watch you enter the elevator, still with your skateboard tucked under your arm.
‘Is she here for Judith?’ Dr Browne asked.
‘Given the fact that she’s the world’s best cardiologist, I’d say that’s a fair assessment.’ Melendez didn’t take his eyes away from you as the doors closed, taking you up to the conference room.
‘Is she going to be here long?’ Browne asked, curious.
‘I have no idea.’
‘Do you think we’ll get to work with her?’ Kalu cut in. ‘In surgery, I mean?’
Melendez gave him a sideways glance. ‘One step at a time.’
‘I’ve read all her work,’ clearly Kalu was a fan. ‘She successfully removed three tumours from a twelve-year-olds heart once. Every other doctor said it was impossible, but she did it anyway.’
‘If every other doctor said it was impossible, it suggests it was reckless move.’ Melendez sighed.
‘You sound like you disapprove.’ Kalu frowned.
‘She just walked into a hospital carrying a skateboard.’ Melendez said, annoyed. ‘You just said that she operated on a twelve-year-old child despite more experienced doctors cautioning against it, and she’s fifteen minutes late to a meeting with the board. What is there to approve of?’
Andrews watched Glassman sit down, checking his watch again. He seemed nervous, more so than usual.
He’d never met you before, but he’d heard stories and if the president of the hospital was nervous, it could only mean there was some truth to the stories.
‘I take it she’s usually late to important meetings then?’ Andrews asked, loud enough that the room knew he was talking to Glassman.
‘Not usually, no.’ Glassman didn’t even look up.
‘I’ll be interested to hear her excuse then.’
Glassman chuckled, lightly. ‘If she bothers to make one up, I will be very surprised.’
Allegra leaned forward. ‘She’s brilliant Andrews.’ She said, making her stance clear. ‘She has done things that would engulf all of our achievements put together, we’re very lucky to have her working at this hospital.’
‘I’m not debating her intelligence,’ Andrews shook his head. ‘I’m simply asking if she makes a habit of turning up late to important meetings.’
‘She’s going to have a field day with you.’ Glassman chuckled, looking through the file in front of him.
‘What does that mean?’
‘Ashley does not make a habit of turning up late to important meetings,’ Glassman finally looked up to explain. ‘She does, however, have a habit of prioritising.’ Andrews turned his whole body to face the President. ‘This meeting isn’t important, it’s a welcome wagon at best.’
‘You don’t think it’s important we make a good first impression?’
‘Yeah, I do. But the ‘we’ is not her, the ‘we’ is you.’ Glassman leaned forward to make his point clear. ‘Making a good impression on somebody really isn’t that high on her list of priorities when her research is on the cusp of saving hundreds of lives.’
‘So, she’s an idealist. Great, I can see this going very well.’ Andrews half laughed, thinking it all a bit ridiculous.
‘She’s building a human heart, one ready to be put inside a human being and operate the same as any other!’ Glassman snapped. ‘Of course, she’s an idealist. Who else has dared to think this was even possible, let alone go ahead and do it? She’s daring and brave and smart and so little will stand in her way if she knows what she’s doing will save people.’
You could hear Glassman’s voice from down the hall as you stepped out of the elevator.
‘I guess I’ve already ruffled some feathers.’ You joked with the receptionist.
‘I’m sure it’s nothing.’ She smiled politely, heading into the room ahead of you. ‘Dr Glassman…?’
You didn’t hear the rest of what was said, instead, a painting outside the conference room caught your eye. It was blue and red, with hints of teal swirling together like colour melding into water. It was probably some generic corporate piece with little history, but it intrigued you, nonetheless.
‘Dr Barker?’ The receptionist said, bringing you out of your haze. ‘They’re ready for you.’
You quickly took a breath and slapped a smile on your face, stepping into the posh looking conference room. Time to shine.
‘Aaron.’ A much more genuine smile took over when you saw your old friend, embracing him and laughing as you felt his warm hug for the first time in nearly three years. ‘God, I’ve missed you.’
‘You too, Ashley.’ He chuckled against you.
You pulled back, feeling your playful side always arise when in the presence of friends. ‘You’re looking great by the way,’ you said, backing up towards Allegra. ‘You’re still single right? I’ve still got a chance?’
You heard him laugh, but didn’t wait for an answer before you wrapped your arms around Allegra, laughing as you, once again, felt the warmth of your friends.
‘How are you, Ash?’ She laughed with you. ‘It’s been too long.’
‘Oh, I’m great.’ You pulled back to see her. ‘All the better for seeing you, obviously.’
‘Sunglasses indoors?’ She indicated the aviators that were still on your face.
‘Headaches.’ You quickly dismissed the comment. ‘Quick, tell me how much money I’ve got to build six hearts and a liver.’
You loved it when she laughed like that, she was such a beautiful and calm woman, it was good to see her let loose from time to time.
‘What do you want a liver for?’ She chuckled.
‘Well, mine’s shot to hell, thought I might as well take a chance.’ You shrugged.
‘Maybe after you’ve finished with the hearts, we’ll talk.’ She said, knowing fine well you had no real interest in livers. ‘For now, let’s introduce you to everyone.’
‘How could I say no to you?’ You charmed.
Allegra took you around the room, introducing you to the board and you did what you always did, you charmed and witted your way into their good books. The only person you kept a sensible distance with, was Glassman. You could only blind the man so much with charm, but attention had already been drawn to the fact that you were still wearing your sunglasses, and he knew headaches weren’t a common problem you had.
‘And this is Dr Andrews,’ Allegra finally got to the one man you knew you’d find intolerable from Glassman’s description of him. ‘He’s the chief of surgery and quite brilliant in his own right.’
‘Oh, I’ve heard.’ You smiled, holding out your hand for him to shake. ‘Plastic surgeon, right?’
‘That’s right.’
‘A bit more glamorous than cardio, I hope you’re not going outwit me as well?’
‘From what I’ve heard, that would be a hard thing to do.’ Andrews had a fake charm to him that you despised, but it had it’s uses on occasion.
‘Do I dare ask what you’ve heard?’ You mused for a moment. ‘You know what, that’s probably a door best left closed.’
Jessica and a few others around you chuckled politely.
‘Skateboarding.’ Andrews frowned, pretending to consider it. ‘An unusual choice of transport for a doctor.’
You felt yourself gearing up for a fight, part of you hating it, part of you ready to dismantle the man in front of you, but it was only the first day, maybe diplomacy was a safer route.
‘Well, it’s better than a car, zero emissions.’ You smiled at the room. ‘Save the planet and all that.’
‘A car is a more professional vehicle.’ Andrews argued.
Again, you felt your heckles rearing. It was only by chance that you caught Glassman’s eye, he looked disappointed and a little angry, it was time to get out of there.
‘So, Allegra, have I done my due diligence?’ You asked, watching her still smile at you. ‘May I see some patient files now?’
‘Eager to get to work as usual.’
‘Always.’
‘Come on then, we can get to the paperwork tomorrow.’ She said, placing her hand on your shoulder to guide you away from the crowd.
‘I’ll take her.’ Glassman spoke up and you felt your body run cold momentarily.
‘Great idea.’ You cheered. ‘Give us a chance to catch up on old times.’
‘Yeah.’ Glassman gently guided you towards the door.
You could hear everyone in the room talking about how nice you were and charming. Day one was secured with them as far as you were concerned. Glassman was always a different case though.
You both walked in silence towards the elevator, letting the doors close gently.
It was deathly quiet for the longest time. You felt your body growing more and more uncomfortable with the silence, until Glassman finally gave in.
‘That went well.’ He sighed.
‘Yeah, I think I made a good impression, everyone seems very nice-‘
‘I’m only going to ask you this once,’ he suddenly got serious. ‘And I want you to know that whatever the answer, I’m not angry.’
‘Okay…?’
‘Are you high right now?’
You froze. You remembered how blunt he could be sometimes, but you were never quite ready for it.
You cleared your throat, adjusting your rucksack and board. ‘Can I elect not to answer?’
‘By not answering, you’re forcing me to assume the answer is yes.’ Why was his voice so soft?
‘I’m not high, Aaron.’ You snapped.
Glassman turned his whole body towards you. ‘Take your glasses off.’
‘Why?’
‘Because you don’t have a headache.’
You thought about it for a moment. You really needed the elevator to get to where it was going a lot quicker, but nothing seemed to happen, and you were left with no choice. Slowly you reached up to remove your sunglasses, but made sure to keep your eyes on the ground, it would only last so long.
‘Ashley, look at me.’ His voice was still soft, but you found it so difficult not to do as he asked at any given point.
You lifted your gaze, but kept it firmly planted in front of you. Glassman tilted his head only slightly to get a better look.
He sighed and pushed the button to take the elevator to the first floor. You didn’t even realise that you weren’t moving, but then again, he probably knew that as well.
‘Can you see okay?’ He asked, strangely kindly.
‘I’m fine.’
‘That wasn’t the question.’
You rolled your eyes a little. ‘I can see fine.’
‘Well, thank goodness.’ He let another breath go. ‘You’d better put those back on before anyone else sees and thinks you’ve got a haematoma.’
You frowned for a moment, fully expecting Glassman to start yelling, but he didn’t remotely look like he was angry. You slid the aviators back up your nose and kept your gaze forwards until you finally reached the right floor.
Glassman gestured for you to exit first.
The lab itself was state of the art, it had all the equipment you’d requested, and presumably with all the money you’d brought with you, they’d been able to set up a few extra pieces of machinery that would help in your research.
Your work was very important to the World Health Organisation. They were the ones who had sent you all over the world to do your research, they believed in what you were doing, but you still reported to someone.
You’d been lucky, you got to see the most amazing places, meet beautiful people, but something about wherever Glassman was, felt like home. He was the one to first encourage your research and the second WHO found out, they cherry picked you as their new poster girl for Cardiovascular research.
It was a lot of pressure. You didn’t always handle it well, but it got you through to the next day and that was all that mattered in the end.
‘The hearts you’re already working on along with the biological materials should arrive at the end of the week.’ Glassman said, taking a seat on one of the stools at the central worktable. ‘If there’s anything else you need, you’ll need to let Allegra know so she can get it for you.’
‘I should be fine, thanks.’ You said, checking some of the equipment that was already set up.
‘Okay.’ He finally gave up and let you continue checking your new workspace.

what's up with the nerdy halo scientist with glasses? I remember seeing a little about him but I have no idea if he's alive at the end
Oh, we are in the same boat because there's a lot of characters that we have no idea if they're alive or where they are or if they're ever going to be seen again! Yippee! Anyway, nerdy halo scientist with glasses has to be Dr. Henry Glassman!

We haven't seen him since the comics when he, Palmer, and Tanaka were racing Halsey for some complicated Forerunner stuff I won't get into before the AI custodian pulls a "nuh uh" because Halsey cheated and everything explodes

This is the last image I have found of Glassman in canon. They get out of there okay, but Glassman's the chief engineer of the Infinity. A ship with notoriously bad luck and one we don't know where she is or what's going on. Halo Infinite made it seem like she had a reduced crew and that she was taken out...somehow.
Her original crew size was more than twice that: By February 2558, Infinity had a crew of 17,151 sailors, Marines, ONI operatives, and civilian personnel, as well as numerous adjunct members of the other UNSC branches and a number of Huragok specialists
But then they walked it back on twitter because Halo has to have options for its story since the execs screwed up and there's no clear path forward. Again, while I don't love Infinite's story, it's amazing they got a game out at all given the horror stories. I feel so bad for everyone who worked on this game.
If anyone has sources for where the Infinity is I would gladly take them. I miss her.
This is all to say we don't know where Glassman is and he hasn't popped up in any extra lore yet. So he may not be killed! He has a history of getting his ass saved by Spartans (Thorne in SpOps, Palmer and Tanaka in Escalation). Who knows? He might be out camping with Lasky, Halsey, and Palmer wherever they are. He might be thrown in the meatgrinder the next time we get a short story! I have no money to bet but I would say it's more likely we get a Glassman mention before Miller.
I'm climbing off my soapbox now, thank you for the ask. I love retrieving lore.
#every day I think about halo and I suffer#Henry Glassman#crab text#lore tag#asks#thicc-pirate#thank you for the ask!

guys i just got hit in the feels by a stupid TV Show
I'm watching The Good Doctor right now, I'm on Season 3 Episode 11, the Episode titled 'Fractured'
(SPOILERS AHEAD!!!)
and at minute 31:42 Shaun (the protag) is in Dr. Glassman's office and Glassman comes in confused as to why Shaun is there
Shaun tells Glassman that he wanted to be honest and that Carly (his gf) said she wanted him to talk to her—
(Prior to this all Shaun went to visit his dying father and shit got bad and Lea (close friend) came inside his hotel room to comfort him and they slept in the same bed together hugging, something he couldn't even do with Carly — lay in bed with her (Carly))
—and that Lea said to not tell anyone what happened and then he says that she (Lea) was right
then Glassman offers him a seat and tells him to calm down but Shaun says he can't bc he has surgery in a few mins and that he can't focus and that he feels sick
and then he drops the bomb shell of "Is everyone going to leave me?" and that hit hard
Glassman asks him what he's talking about and Shaun says "My dad didn't want me. My mom chose him over me. Carly now hates me. Lea will get tired of me. You'll get sick of me. I do everything wrong. Everyone will go away! I make people upset! I make them angry! i make them hate me!"
and that hit too close to home because we genuinely fear that whatever we do we'll upset people, make them feel angry and/or make them hate us because of how we act and stuff and it made us cry.
We need someone to tell us in person that they're proud of us and that they won't leave us and give us some actual tough but very much needed love
but we have no one, meanwhile Shaun has Glassman telling him all this and that he shouldn't say such things about himself and that he can get through this
but we can't confinde in anyone irl and it sucks because we can't confide in anyone due to us believing such things and quite literally almost never truly being honest irl bc of this. We can't confide in anyone...

I looked into the good doctor tag and saw people hating on it. So I looked up why people might hate this show. The first reason I see if because of how they portray autism in the show. The article I was reading says the show reincforces false stereotypes about autism such as autistic people can't form meaningful relationships, understand boundaries or treat others respectfully. Which no? The show doesn’t reinforce those facts. I mean at the start it kind of does, but take an autistic person who was forced to run away from his home or deal with an aggressive father, lived in a bus with his brother until he watched his brother die, then get shuffled around in different foster homes. Across all of that, it’s understandable why Shaun might have issues with how he interacts with people. First off: Autistic people can’t form meaningful relationships.
I’m only in season two but let’s break down the relationships we currently have involving Shaun.
Steve: Shaun’s brother who passed away, someone Shaun holds a lot of attachment to, keeping the scalpel toy Steve gave Shaun as a comfort item. Reminiscing on Steve’s life and the things he told Shaun. Clearly a meaningful relationship developed before the show started.
Dr. Glassman: Shaun’s mentor/friend. Shaun listens to Dr. Glassman throughout season 1 because he trusts what Dr. Glassman says. He only stops listening when Dr. Glassman refuses to abide by Shaun’s boundaries (him not wanting a therapist). Shaun shows that he cares about Dr. Glassman when it comes to his health. Shaun became obsessive over Dr. Glassman health because he cares about his friend. I’d call that a meaningful relationship.
Leah: Neighbor turned bestie. She treats Shaun like any other person. They fought and were both hurt by it, but they moved past their disagreement. Shaun cares about Leah enough to be hurt by her leaving, and Leah cares enough about Shaun to live with him. (And I found some spoilers that they might be end game…)
Surgical Team: Each member of the surgical team has a different relationship with Shaun. Yet they each encourage Shaun when he faces difficulties and believe in his abilities as a surgeon.
So two seasons in and I already find these relationships meaningful, and I’m certain some will only become more meaningful with time.
Second: Autistic people can’t understand boundaries
As an autistic person, this is something I greatly struggle with but that’s besides the point. Shaun does struggle with understanding boundaries. Shaun is very fixated on the proper procedure for things. So when Dr. Glassman got sick, he was desperate to have Dr. Glassman recover, that Shaun focused on the procedure for his recovery over the will of Dr. Glassman.
Or when Leah said she didn’t want them living together. She explained to Shaun that them living together presented the image that they might end up dating and she didn’t want that. She didn’t want to make Shaun uncomfortable with her dating other people while they lived together. Shaun continued with purchasing the apartment anyways, because he didn’t believe that the issues Leah mentioned would occur. He was fine staying as friends and living with Leah made him happy. Yes they disagreed on the living arrangements at first, and Shaun definitely crossed some boundaries, but they later talked through the problem and reached an understanding.
Shaun’s bad at understanding his emotions social ques and communicating. Again two things I’m very bad at. How is he supposed to understand why Leah might not want to live with him, or why Dr. Glassman doesn’t want to think about his cancer, unless he’s told. Leah doesn’t want to ruin their friendship, she told Shaun that and he dropped the idea of them living together. Dr. Glassman is scared about dying and tired to only thinking about that. He told Shaun this, and Shaun tell Dr. Glassman that he’s scared Dr. Glassman will die. He doesn’t want to lose Dr. Glassman too.
Third: Autistic people can’t treat others with respect.
I’ll be honest. Shaun is blunt when dealing with people. He is honest to a fault. But that doesn’t mean he’s disrespecting people or being rude. There are times when he hurts people with his words, but there are also times he saves people with his words. While other residents have been corrected on the disrespectful behaviors they’ve shown to the head surgeons, Shaun has never had such an experience. When Dr. Melendez didn’t respect Shaun, he accepted the treatment and continues following Dr. Melendez’s orders without fail. He never looked down on Dr. Lim because of her gender. He thanks his colleagues for their advice, admits when he’s wrong, and takes on any constructive criticism they give him.
This is all besides the point. Yes I’m upset that people don’t like the show, but my real issue is with the article I read directly after the last one.
“The reason the good doctor is controversial is because of a debate over whether the main character is autistic. The show never explicitly stated that Dr. Murphy is diagnosed with Autism.”
IM SORRY THE SHOW DOESN’T DO WHAT NOW? I swear within the first episode Dr. Murphy’s autism diagnosis is brought up multiple times. They’re debating hiring an autistic surgeon. But the show doesn’t explicitly say he has autism. Other autistic character appear and the surgery residence look to Shaun for help. (To which Shaun responds that just cause he’s autistic doesn’t mean he can help.) He’ll in one of the episodes I just finished Shaun was talking about how ASD is a part of him and it shouldn’t just be overlooked.
Anyways I love this show. I love how they’re representing autism, because while I may differ a lot from Shaun, I can relate a lot to some of his different habits or traits.

Sangheili Bracket Round 1 Match 12
More info below:
Ernicka the Scar-Maker:
Debuted in Halo: Broken Circle
Living within 9th century BCE times, Ernicka would serve as the second in command to Ussa 'Xellus during the San'Shyuum-Sangheili war. At one point, helped lead trops against the San'Shyuum, repelling them from the Planet of Blue and Red. Whilst he believed the they would not attack from their ships - in fear of damaging Forerunner structures - Ussa would recognize that they indeed had a weapon they could fire to kill them while not causing damage. Ernicka followed orders to retreat and survived. Later, when the war ended, he would be amongst those that still distrusted the San'Shyuum and the newly formed Covenant. He would continue to aid Ussa when Covenant loyalists attempted to end his heresy and even correctly deduced there was a spy within their midst helping the Covenant. After killing the spy once revealed, he joined the others in leaving Sanghelios for a shield world dubbed the Refuge. Once there, Ernicka would assist Ussa in governing the Sangheili living there. At one point, Salus 'Crolon would approach and question the duo, saying things that Ernicka felt were treasonous, although Ussa would argue that 'Crolon was merely annoying. As colony-building continue, Ernicka would break up a fight between 'Crolon and young lovestruck Tersa 'Gunok, although was also impressed with the latter's courage. Later, he would have to arrest Tersa and his love Lnur 'Mol on suspicions they were planning a rebellion, but their innocence would be proven and the tables turned against the true rebels: 'Crolon and 'Drem. Ernicka would throw a burnblade into 'Drem's back when he tried to escape, then finished him off with decapitation. However, 'Crolon would escape execution and the shield world, going to inform the Covenant of the Refuge. With the threat of the Covenant arriving, Ernicka would reluctantly trust the shield world's monitor, Enduring Bias. In order to make the Covenant believe they all were dead, the shield world would be disassembled into fragments. Everyone survived by hiding in freight movers, which notably made Ernicka nauseous. For the rest of his life after, he would live in the fragmented habitats under Ussa's leadership, immortalized in sculptures (particularly with him battling 'Crolon) and in legend for centuries. A descendant of his - Tirk 'Surb - would come to serve as the head of Refuge Security during the year 2552.
Ayit 'Sevi:
Debuted in Halo: Escalation
At some point, ONI would hire Ayit 'Sevi as a mercenary. Being an outlier amongst the warrior species with a code of honor, Ayit would accept and work as an infiltrator on a few different missions. The first was the extraction of a bioweapon on Ven III, where his presence was used by ONI to convince the UNSC to deal with the pirates - deceiving the Infinity into believing Ayit was part of Jul's Covenant. Spartans Gabriel Thorne and Naiya Ray would go on the hunt for him, but would ambush them and take an unconscious Thorne away from the area. He would take her to the Kig-Yar pirate queen that ruled all the pirates and offer Thorne in a trade; however, Ray would catch up, free Thorne, and capture Ayit at last. Yet Ayit would escape, only to be captured again, only for ONI operatives to arrive and reveal him to be one of them.
Later in the year, Ayit would infiltrate Jul's Covenant and send information to ONI regarding Cathering Halsey and the Absolute Record. During Operation: ATHENA, he would use his cover to help Spartans Thorne, Sarah Palmer, and Holly Tanaka as well as Dr. Henry Glassman get aboard Breath of Annihilation in Jul's fleet and reach the Absolute Record. Once the fleet arrived, they moved to Song of Retribution. However, upon learning that only the Retribution would be entering the Absolute Record, Ayit and Thorne would return to Breath of Annihilation to establish contact with the UNSC whilst the rest of the team followed Jul and Halsey. Whilst doing so, Ayit would convince Thorne to help him sow chaos amongst Jul's men by having the Spartan occasionally attack only to go back into hiding. At the same time, he freed prisoners - which included the failed rebel leader Sali 'Nyon - in order to cause further distractions. However, as he attempted to reunite with a wounded Thorne, some suspicious Zealots under Sali 'Nyon would follow and discover him to be a spy. Thankfully, Ayit bought enough time for Thorne to kill them. Once the mission came to a close, Ayit would help them escape the fleet and Sangheili space.

¶ … Antidepressants May Improve Heart Attack Survival Origin Health Day Reporter Ed Edelson Date Published: July 05, 2005 This article was written in the subject of possibilities for improving heart attack survival through the help of antidepressants. Dr. C. Barr Taylor, a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine, provided the results from his studies about the effect of antidepressants after a heart attack. Taylor also who wrote an accompanying editorial in the journal. Despite of Taylor's findings, Dr. Glassman however reiterates the following warning: "even though a previous study produced similar evidence of the beneficial effects of antidepressants after a heart attack, the new finding may not translate directly into clinical practice" Glassman points out that further study is still important to prove the effect of antidepressants after a heart attack and to provide enough evidence of the positive benefits of antidepressants that previous studies claim. Without a large scale study on the subject, it should be regarded that there is an apparent deficiency in the exploration done on antidepressants for heart attacks. Glassman claims that " ... antidepressant drug reduced the risk of death or a second heart attack by 43%, said the report in the July issue of the journal Archives of General Psychiatry" Although the claim on the positive benefit of antidepressants are clearly stipulated by a number of journals, the use of the drug is still dependent on the prescription of doctors. According to Dr. Richard Lange, chief of clinical cardiology at John Hopkins University School of Medicine, it is upon the practice and mandate of cardiologist and physicians to prescribe such drug in collaboration with psychiatrists. Because of the issues that are still to be explored and investigated regarding antidepressants as a drug after a heart attack, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had issued a statement on careful regulation and observation on the use of the medication/drug. Statistical Procedures The above mentioned article/newspaper clippings on antidepressants for improving heart attack survival utilized the following statistical procedures: Point of Inquiry- This initial procedure was used in clarifying issues pertaining to the use of antidepressants being prescribed by health professionals. Antidepressants as defined by Wikipedia Encyclopedia as: "a medication used primarily in the treatment of clinical depression. Antipdepressants are commonly used in the treatment of anxiety disorders. Such medications allegedly produces adverse effect due to sudden withrawal. Though the use of the drug are clouded by several issues, this article are pushing the partial or impartial prescription of the drug for the improvement of heart attack survival. Data Gathering - Information about the use of the medication (antidepressants) and all isues surrounding the drug were considered thoroughly by the authors of the journals. It was thru systematic inquiry done by both Dr. C. Barr Taylor and Dr. Alexander H. Glassman that gave them detailed and essential information on whether antidepressants are sufficiently safe for the improvement and rapid recovery of heart attack patients. Data were primarily from first hand results of the authors' studies and investigations, as well as from their experiences in the practice of medicine. Experimentation- Research and experiments were employed in order to provide evidences that antidepressants would be an alternative if not a complete cure and improvement of heart attack patients. Based on the article, several studies were made by the authors of several journals with regards to the said medical case. Experimentations were primed in the numbers of patients who suffered heart attacks that were undergoing psychotherapy and those not undergoing the treatment. Analysis of the Case Study -- Several process of analyzing the effects of the medication were made. These were primarily based on previous studies made by the authors of the report. As stipulated by Dr. C. Barr Taylor; "our study provides much stronger evidence than we've ever had before that antidepressants are safe and may benefit these patients" and were partially contradicted by Dr. Alexander H. Glassman in saying that: "but even though a previous study produced similar evidence of the beneficial effects of antidepressants after a heart attack, the new finding may not translate directly into clinical practice" Results were directly scrutinized by all of the experts in this field of study in order to give and furnish conclusive findings of the case. Flaws on the research were verified, such that The analysis looked at the 28% of patients in the therapy group and the 20% of those in the non-therapy group who were given antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors because of the severity of their depression. This note sums up to the fractional validity on the results of all prior study on the use of Antidepressants. Derivation of Results- based on the report, the following results were derived from the experimentation and analysis of the case study: 1. That there were no definitive evidence that may be considered in using the data from the study as a standard of care for patients undergoing treatment. 2. That even though there was no sufficient result on the treatment of heart attack patients in using antidepressants, according to Dr. Lange, there are currently no enough mandates that makes it illegal or prevents the physicians and practitioners to prescribe the intake of antidepressant drugs to patients. However, it must be noted that there is still a valid process to investigate the judgments considered by practitioners when prescribing the drug. Conclusions Based on the Results - the conclusion made by the authors of the report were coinciding with each ones' finding. Although in the article, there were no definite conclusions on whether the use of the drug would really improve heart attack survival, it would appear that the prescription of antidepressants were purely on the judgment and findings of the medical practitioner. Antidepressant are said to produce certain side effects that would be endured by the patient using the drug. The use of this medication is commonly associated to different behavioral tendencies and disorders. The studies that were presented in this report were appropriate in finding alternative means in the treatment, but such use of antidepressants might lead to other cases of ailments that may affect the physical well being of the patient. On the latter part of this article, the issues surrounding antidepressants, its use, and its side effects, were also presented. The statement issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is a paradigm on the application and the use of antidepressants. Comics Review: 'Crashing'
Crashing by Matthew Klein, Morgan Beem, Tirona Farrell, Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou

fantasy
science fiction
social commentary
superhero
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars
Ego blinds. Anger unravels. Lies reveal.
Doctor Rose Osler makes her name as an emergency room surgeon at a major east coast hospital. Boston is made better for her earnestness, she's intensely serious about her Hippocratic Oath, and even though various public parks and political offices have crumbled under the duress of brutal conflicts between powered individuals left and right, Dr. Osler is super focused. Super. Focused.
Maybe a little too focused? CRASHING is dramatic, incisive, and persistent in its wielding of a fundamentally moral character as a representative disease of Western civilization's cult of high-professionalism and personal wont.
Dr. Osler is a junkie (and like most addicts, the shadow cast by the consequences of her actions is longer than she cares to admit), Dr. Osler is petulant (and like most working adults, refuses to acknowledge her weaknesses), and Dr. Osler has a savior complex (and like most people who carve their own success, detests asking for help). So, naturally, CRASHING overloads the good doctor with multiple, unwinnable situations. When the region's foremost superhero, Rex Glassman, and his sidekick, Piper McNally, land in her hospital, Dr. Osler gets a call from the guy who put them there. Gordian is basically a supervillain, and he needs urgent medical care, too. What's the good doctor to do?
The insecurities and uncertainties that wreak havoc on the minds of the well-meaning will only deepen when one pushes and presses to convalesce when they aren't ready for it. Glassman was knocked unconscious and wants to get back out onto the street. McNally had two seizures overnight and wants to get back out onto the street. Camille Bogdanovich, Dr. Osler's boss, wants these powered individual discharged so the hospital isn't liable for any wrong turns. Don, Dr. Osler's devoted beau, is a public servant striding to pass local superhero registration legislation despite riots popping up across the Greater Boston Area. What's the good doctor to do?
CRASHING is a beautiful book, too. The creative team produced a bevy of diverse character art, complete with nuanced eye, nose, and mouth shapes, as well as perceptively articulated hands and hand gestures. The details tell the story. When Dr. Osler lies about her relapse, she dips her chin and lowers her gaze. When Glassman paces the hallway, devoid of sleep, the bags under his eyes are woefully obvious. For comic book fans searching for a title whose creative team loves its characters' flaws as much as it does its characters' frequently withering opportunities for success, CRASHING exposes one to the rivalries of the mind, and doesn't hesitate to let linger the awful truths that emerge.
