***Announcing HD Hurt/Comfort Fest!***

HD Hurt/Comfort is an 18+ anonymous prompt-based fest that welcomes creations from both the angsty and fluffy ends of the trope spectrum.

This fest was born from the idea that with darkness comes light, and that with hurt comes comfort. We believe that to every yin there is a yang, that every Jekyll has a Hyde. And through this fest we hope to achieve contentment with that balance. To that end, we will encourage and accept the following submissions:

Resting rumors (T): a small little one shot that features an outside perspective on Harry and a secret marriage! It's sweet, cute and it's hot mentions of baby Scorpius so I couldn't resist!

Because it's you (T): a soulmates au! It takes place during 8th year, draco and Harry have a truce and also draco tutors Harry in potions and Harry helps draco with DADA. It's really fluffy and really cute and it made me giggle like nothing else!

Too bruised to fight (G): angst 8th year featuring bed sharing, late night talks and nightmares! It's so sweet and lovely and both boys need the biggest hug imaginable.

Draco stood in the doorway to the locker rooms, watching Potter within thinly concealed irritation as he celebrated another win for the Gryffindors.

He hated it.

He hated the way his forced laugh echoed around the room, grating on Draco's ears.

He hated the fact that he was shirtless, still in the middle of changing when the others had come in to cheer for him.

He hated seeing those muscles along his back and his broad shoulders. Hated how he showed them off like he was trying to make others jealous.

He hated Potter's hair, matted with sweat and windblown and a little too perfect.

He hated Potter's friends lifting him onto their shoulders, as though they had any right to touch him.

Draco couldn't stand it. Not one bit.

And when they went to the Great Hall later that evening for dinner, his feelings did not change.

Potter sat, surrounded by friends, admirers, an easy smile on his face Draco could tell was fake even from this distance.

He hated the way Potter moved the food around his plate without eating, a skill that must have been practiced often to be mastered the way Potter had.

He hated that Potter seemed to be the only one in the room, even as the people beside Draco chatted on about meaningless nothings.

And when they passed each other in the corridor, Draco felt this hatred deep in his core.

He hated how they walked by without touching, not even the barest flourish of the bottom of their cloaks.

He hated that he could smell him, a deep and natural scent Draco could recognize anywhere.

He hated that Potter refused to meet his eye, staring straight ahead or conversing casually with the person beside him as though Draco wasn't there at all.

He hated how deeply Potter had engraved himself into Draco's mind. Into his every thought. Draco was simply incapable of thinking anything else.

Draco hated it.

But that did not stop him from pacing the floor in front of the room of requirement nearly every night.

This hatred did not convince him to think of anything other than the words he had burned in his memory.

"I need to see Harry Potter."

And this hatred did not stop Potter from appearing in that room.

It did not stop Draco from hurrying into his arms.

From laying there, fulfilled and whole.

This hatred did not stop Draco from loving him.

"Can I ask you something, Draco?" Potter whispered late one night from their shared bed in their secret room.

Draco hummed, nuzzling closer until there was no more space between them.

"Do you think we'll ever be able to... you know... go out together?" His voice had a hint of hope.

Oh, how Draco hated that hope.

"We've talked about this, Harry." He whispered, sitting up so he could look at him directly, "You know how I feel."

Potter nodded, sighing deeply, "I know. It's just- You know I love you, right?"

Draco could see it in his eyes, the earnestness in them. The kind that made him hate the world for ever keeping them away from each other.

"I love you too." Draco leaned in to kiss him once, "But you can't be seen with me. You know what they'll say about you... you have to keep away when we're out there."

It was a conversation they had often, one that Draco wished he could allow to go differently. He hated that he couldn't.

"I hate staying away from you." Potter leaned their foreheads together, "I want to be with you, Draco. I- I don't want to hide this anymore."

Draco nodded, "I hate it too, love. But you know it's for the best. People can be dangerous. I don't want to see you get hurt."

And he meant it. He truly, truly hated being away from Potter.

He hated not being able to touch him.

He hated hearing that laugh, that fake laugh he'd been using ever since the war.

He hated that he could only hear his real one in the confines of this room. Only see his real smile here. His real voice.

This was the only place either of them felt safe to be free.

They fell in love with the one person they weren't supposed to.

And they hated it.

"One day." Potter murmured, tucking himself against Draco once more as he closed his eyes, "One day we'll be together out there."

Draco nodded, relaxing beside him on the pillows and listening to Potter's breathing slow.

"One day." Draco repeated to himself. Long after Potter had fallen asleep.

And he hated the twinge of hope that bloomed in his chest.

The comute from Draco's Magic Uni to home is atleast an hour long. Everyday he spends 2 hours traveling because their home is not hooked to the floo network to ward off persistent paps and stalkers.

Draco is NOT a morning person. Harry had to drag him out of the bed and into the shower and shove food into his zombie boyfriend. Whenever Harry is not looking, Draco will just hurry back to the bed and bury himself under the cover.

"Just like a ferret", Harry would tease him, only to end up with a face full of pillow for his troubles.

All nighters. ALL NIGHTERS. Coffee. COFFEE. Deadlines. Projects. Assignments. Conferences. Seminars. Electives. Mid-term, mid-term and finals.

But don't worry, Harry Potter comes to the rescue yet again. When Draco plans to pull all nighters to meet deadlines and catch up with his course materials, Harry would gently bonk him in the head, tell him to stop spoiling his health and drag him to bed.

Post war Harry with a lot of free time on his hands = working out = Broad shoulders to cry on.

"I swear Potter, I was smarter in school. I was top 3 in our year, Merlin! Now I don't understand anything. I'm literally the dumbest person in my class."

"Should I drop out?", "Can we start a small family business instead?", "Maybe I should drop this class. Oh no oh no I should have chosen a different major", "Who needs a degree anyway?"

The Saviour of the wizarding world is all ready for the exam seasons. The fridge is well stocked, and Draco's desk is filled with all the necessary stationery, snacks and a self-refilling water bottle.

Massage breaks, which turns into a different kind of massage. But at the end of it, Draco is all relaxed and mushy. It's the result that matters, not the procedure, (don't tell his scientist boyfriend though)

The end-of-exam seasons are punctuated with movie marathons and all the desserts in the world. Couch cuddles and lazy morning sex.

before they got together, Draco obsessively read every article about Harry in the Daily Prophet (not that he'd ever admit it)

he even stole his mother's Witch Weekly to read about Harry once (or twice)

so...he's positively obsessed about Potter, though he may need some time to truly understand the nature of his obsessiveness towards him

but when he does (!) (!) (!)

for Harry it's different. he's pining for Draco for a long time, but he's scared to do something about it; it's Draco Malfoy we are talking about after all

so he just watches from distance, getting grumpy, then hopeful and then grumpy again

they start small; talking about quidditch. A LOT (they play it a lot too, even when it's only two of them)

may I add they are both fiercely competitive during it? or during everything really??

a quick game of snap may turn into a bloodshed (and they both cheat shamelessly when losing)

they also work out together and turn it into a competition as well (duhh)—who can lift more, who can run faster, etc

Draco knows exactly how to push Harry's buttons, effortlessly getting a rise out of him; it helps him when he wants to distract Harry (and win), but mostly he does it because Harry's reaction to these little provocations are so fucking adorable

Harry often blushes too; at Draco's bluntness (which is also adorable)

Draco simply can't take his eyes out of Potter, and his little, cold heart ache whenever Harry looks at him softly, with those eyes of his

actually he could stare at him for hours, but he feels like a bit of a creep for it, so he often does it while Harry is asleep (still acting like a creep if you ask me)

Harry opens up to Draco first, he's so painfully genuine that Malfoy has no other option but open up as well

it turns out it's not that bad; opening up to somebody he cares about

and sometimes it scares him how much he cares

so...yes Draco is positively smitten with Harry

he's even willing to accept the Weasel in their life for the sake of Harry (which should speak volumes!)

Draco is taking Harry out to dinner often, always insisting on paying (a true gentleman through and through). it's his way of spoiling Harry and showing his affection, despite Harry's protests

and when they are alone...

they can't keep their hands off each other, and even the softest kiss can quickly escalate (!)

speaking about kissing; Draco loses his mind whenever Harry kisses him, completely overwhelmed

and when his hand start trailing over his body, moving lower and lower, Draco's breath catches

as I said they can't keep their hands off each other :)

at night Harry clings to Draco lovingly, despite Draco's mock complaints

but when Harry is not with him and he has the bed all for himself he can't sleep at all, he feels lonely and miss Harry like crazy (the feeling's mutual)
