perv!butcher who gets handsy with you but of course he can, hes the leader!
mdni. DARK CONTENT WARNING, READ MY PINNED POST BEFORE CONTINUING. cw: manipulation, dubiously consensual/non con touching but reader is into it, abuse of power. Choking, somnophilia. Daddy kink. Massive daddy issues and butcher is a father figure to u in this, heavy on the taboo and age diff. <3 im down to make a part 2 to this if ppl are interested too ! w/c: 1.2k
Butcher isn't a nice man. He's ruthless, does what he wants, whenever he wants - he's definitely got some sort of conscience in there, but it's drowned out by the primary emotion that drives him. Lust. It's usually for blood, but this time, it's for you.
A pretty young thing, definitely not dumb but definitely inexperienced. Sometimes you don't know when to shut your mouth, too excitable and bubbly, too full of energy. You mean well, you do. But when Butcher already has a headache, your begging to take temp V is driving him mad.
"I'll be okay, it won't hurt me, I could just have cool powers like you, and it'll be all over the next day! It could really help, we don't know what I'd be able to do and it could be something helpful!"
You're sat next to Butcher on the deflated couch in the pawn shop basement, only the pair of you there. You're sat with your legs crossed facing him, gesturing with your words, while Butcher is sat with his legs spread wide, pinching the bridge of his nose, facing directly ahead at the TV. He sighs, turning his head to look at you.
"Fucccck no. You ain't havin' any, end of story. Give 'ers a bit of peace and quiet, will ya? Me 'ead is banging, yer yapping isn't helping."
"I'm not yapping, I'm trying to help..." You murmur, dejected. You turn to face away from Butcher, frustrated and feeling like he doesn't trust you. He watches as the dull light from the TV illuminates your face, trying so hard to look calm and collected. Butcher sees right through you. He knows you need his approval like air.
Butcher sighs again. He's a horrible, fucked up man. He's about thirty years your senior. Fuck it, he'll blame the V for how he's acting if anyone pulls him up on it. If anyone dares. He's the leader, he can do what he likes.
"Look, c'mere. Ya wanna help? Sit,"
"Sit...?" You meet his eyes, eyebrows furrowed. Butcher is unwavering, and he looks scary. His eye contact is intense, and you choose to look down at his chain and his sweater instead.
"Yeah. Sit. Didn't stutter, did I? C'mere," your gaze follows his hand (so large that it's practically a paw) as he pats his strong upper thigh. Your head and your heart race, and you stay still.
"Isn't that... um... inappropriate?" You've always seen him as a mentor, a leader, a father figure. Of course you've had some thoughts, but you've shoved them down deep enough to silence them. He's practically your dad - and old enough to be, too. This is wrong.
Like a dam breaking, all those thoughts suddenly surface. Flickers of Butcher's strong, veiny hands, his rough lips, his even rougher voice calling you a good girl. Fuck, this is bad.
"Surely is. Stop ya whinin' though and give me what I want, yeah?"
You shakily stand up, nodding. You always want to make him proud, and deep down you know you want this - whatever this is. It could be anything from a cuddle to a punch in the gut. Butcher is a live wire.
You settle yourself in his lap, hovering by putting most of your weight on your white-socked feet still planted on the ground. Up this close, Butcher is all you can smell. Heady, masculine, intense. Like testosterone, sweat, and leather. You know it should gross you out but it doesn't.
Butcher's large arm manhandling you so your back is to his chest makes you gasp. He's overpowering and rough, too strong for his own good, too arrogant and self-serving. His hand wraps around to suddenly grip your throat, feeling your pulse but not choking you. Just holding. Your heart jumps into your throat. He might actually just kill you right here.
"You're nervous. Scared I'm gonna hurt ya, sweetheart? Scared I'm gonna make ya cry?" Your eyes flutter closed, and you nod, terrified. He's whispering into your ear, a dark growl. You can feel his warm breath against your neck, smelling like cigarette smoke and mint. His other arm is around your waist, keeping you close to him. Making it so you can't get away.
"Not gonna hurt ya. You want this too," Butcher takes a deep inhale, nostils flaring and eyes fluttering shut. The V has given him an increased sense of smell, and with your legs slightly spread, he can smell exactly what you've been desperate to hide.
"Yeah, you want this too. Can smell ya dripping. This little cunt want daddy, yeah?" Butcher laughs cruelly when his words make your breath stutter and a new gush of wetness to soak your panties, intensifying the smell of pussy that is driving him mad. He takes another deep inhale, and you try to shut your legs, only for Butcher to force them back open with a heavy palm, slapping the soft jiggle of your thigh through your cargos. Mean.
"No, no. No, no, baby, nuh uh. Nope. Don't fuck me about. You're on my team, and you're mine. You want a daddy? I'll be your daddy," you shake your head no, and Butcher coos.
"No? Don't want a daddy?"
"Don' want any daddy, want you," you whisper. "'S always been you."
He groans and adjusts you in his lap so you're even closer to him, and his lips are on your neck by his fingers, just resting. You can feel him now, hard against your ass. Fuck, either he's carrying a gun in his pants, or he's huge.
"Thaaat's right. Always been me. Picked ya up off the street, ya own dad ain't know how to treat ya. I do though. Know what brats like you need," his hand on your throat tightens, cutting off the circulation to your head and making you go dizzy. His lips move up, his tongue softly licking that spot where your neck meets your jaw.
"Need an older man to look after you. Need a good stuffin' to stop you gettin' all gobby. You've been giving me such a headache, princess. Gonna fuck that mouth outta ya. Just gotta have you passed out for it, yeah?"
You struggle to breathe, panicking. Passed out? Why? Your eyes start to flutter closed and Butcher's voice starts to echo in your head, feeling both a million miles away and right inside the pulse of your clit at the same time.
"Stupid lil cunt for daddy. Ya won't be able to take me when you're awake, so I just gotta force it while you're out... sleep now, sweetheart. Shhh." he coos as your vision goes spotty, and you go limp in his lap. Once he's sure you're out cold, he lays you down on the couch, and gets to work using you just how he's always wanted.
He's a deeply fucked up man, but it's not his fault you make such a perfect daddy's girl.

So, don't know if this has been asked yet but, do we know where the Lackadaisy and Marigold are located?
No particular reason, nope not at all...
I've never put precise street addresses on them, and that's intentional, but the general ambiance around the Little Daisy Cafe is intended to resemble the Laclede's Landing area of St. Louis, near to the Mississippi riverbank and Eads Bridge. The cave system below more resembles what's actually underneath Cherokee Street, a bit further south of there.
The Maribel Hotel (where the Marigold Room is) is sort of vaguely based on the original Chase Hotel (predecessor of the Chase Park Plaza Hotel), and so you might consider it more of an inland feature of the Central West End or thereabouts.

A little headcannon tidbit based off of chapter 2 of @canarydarity 's ranchers baseball au <3
-----
St. Louis felt infinitely like home. Or, as close to home as Jimmy could get. Coming into the city from the Illinois side of the river made him sick to smell the air of his childhood backyard. To taste the dirt in his mouth as he, once again, lost against Grian at the diamonds. St. Louis was 10 times smaller than grand old New York, New York, but it was 10 times more welcoming. The drivers were calmer, the streets less full, the culture more laid back. It was a lazy city, sticky and slow like molasses in the early summer midwestern heat.
As the team bus rattled its way across the Eads Bridge, Jimmy felt Joel smack his arm, breaking his gaze away from the lazy flow of the Mississippi. “What in the bloody hell are they building?” Joel muttered, half standing to see over Tango’s shoulders across the isle. Tango looked as if he was about to burst out of the window, he was pressed so hard to the glass. He swiveled his head to look at Jimmy and Joel.
“You two haven’t heard? It’s been in every paper for weeks!” He was practically vibrating with excitement.
Jimmy shook his head and stood up taller to see what the fuss was about. By then, the whole team was ‘ooh and ahhing’ at the absolutely massive structure being built, right on the banks of the river.
“It’s going to be called the Gateway Arch. It’s probably going to be the biggest feat of engineering since the Empire State. Probably better than the Needle out in Seattle is going to be.” Jimmy raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smile on his lips. Since when did Tango have a special interest in engineering?
“I did a few months in an engineering class. Got me hooked, but numbers are easier to understand.” Tango explained, as if he had read Jimmy’s mind. Then he turned back around and continued to peer at the stories-tall cranes slowly moving into place, and the two wide, square beginnings of what would apparently become a feat of engineering. Jimmy didn’t really see the draw, but he leaned across Joel and the isle to Tango anyways.
“We should come back to see it once it’s finished.” Jimmy said, watching the construction site fade behind them. The Cardnial’s stadium appeared behind the looming Old Courthouse.
“I agree!” Tango replied, beaming. Jimmy didn’t care if he was 100 by the time the Arch was finished. He’d come back and see it with Tango when it was done.
------
hi worm i know you're reading this,,,ok I haven't had the energy (or time) to do any art for the baseball au but the brainrot has been stuck with me for DAYS. so I decided to write a little tidbit of how I imagined the ride into St. Louis for that game against the Cardnials. I have a lot of love for the city I grew up around so I really wanted to do something for it for you :) And if you're interested, here's some of the history I incorparated to make it feel more historically accurate! (i'm a cloested history buff, can you tell)
the st louis gateway arch began construction in 1963 technically, but I'm like 90% sure that there was soo much prep work done on the site before the actual construction, as there is a basement underneath it, and a huge walkway/viewing platform area, as well as the whole thing with the levee right on the Mississippi. I wanted to sort of figure out what that would look like in 1961 when the plans were being laid out. Also, the Arch is a certified national park, it's professional name being "St. Louis Gateway Arch National Park"
The Old Courthouse. UGH its one of my favorite buildings I've ever seen actually. Its so beautiful, and you can, from the road I'm writing them on, see Busch staduim looming behind it. The Courthouse also actually held the first two trials of the Dred Scott case, if you're into that kind of stuff.
The Eads Bridge. Also one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. It is the oldest bridge on the Mississippi and was constructed under the care of Andrew Carnagie. That bad boy is made out of actual authentic Carnagie steel. Sooo history rich. Pretty sure they actually held a parade with elephants once it was done. so that's cool
Oh, and Busch stadium. It wasn't called that way back when! And it looked much, much different than it does now. I'm honestly not sure what it was called in the 60's, but I'm sure most people called it Cardnial's stadium. It was a beautiful and massive stadium back then, and it still is now.
the seattle neetle was being constructed around the same time as the arch as well, which is why i had Tango say something about it LOL
And for funsies, here's a scorecard that I'm sure Tango would've recieved in 1961 from the stadium.
Tumblr media
hope you enjoyed my little rant!! And if you made it to the bottom of this and you're not worm, I hope you enjoyed learning a little about st. louis today. :)

I finished Priory of the Orange Tree!
[image description: four heads of characters from Priory of the Orange Tree, each with their name written in lowercase English cursive above them. There is also a random scribble.
Ead has a round face, messy curls that end above her shoulders, heavyset eyebrows and a line of freckles across the bridge of her nose. She is staring off with an angry/determined look.
Arteloth has on oval face, big eyes and ears, a long nose and prominent collarbones. He has a beard and a ponytail of dreadlocks hanging over one shoulder (I know on page 670-something it says he has short hair but I drew this on page 650-something.).
Margret also has an oval face (though less broad) and big eyes and ears. She has a broad nose and many mini-braids, which hang in front of both ears and over both shoulders. She is smiling softly.
Tané has a square face, sharp eyebrows and prominent collarbones. She is wearing her hair in a prominent topknot. She is glaring. end image description]

[Review] Club Nintendo Picross Plus (3DS)
Tumblr media
A buried treasure, unearthed at last.
In the dwindling days of 2022, I finally embarked on a journey I’d been meaning to take for some time. You see, my 3DS had developed a card-reading fault due to pin damage from my overzealous cleaning of the contacts, and I figured I would extend the life of this device which is teetering on the very brink of obsolescence by installing custom firmware. The process is actually quite simple when following the instructions on the 3DS Hacks Guide and before long I was gleefully downloading games that were never released in my region (including Japanese exclusives that I have bought but are incompatible with my personal unit).
One of my personal white whales was Club Nintendo Picross, which was released exclusively through the Japanese rewards program and not made available for sale in any region. I did eventually get to play that thanks to my sister-in-law’s JP region console, but then I found out about this even more restrictive release, the Plus followup, which required time-limited Platinum status in the rewards program and not just a redemption of easily accrued points. Nintendo is no stranger to idiotic limited releases but being such a Picross fan this one really ground my gears.
That depth of feeling has passed like water under the bridge, and as I chipped away at the puzzles over the 2022-2023 New Year’s break I reflected on my fandom feelings. For example, I would have appreciated this a lot more if I’d played it at release in 2014 when I was a more diehard Nintendo fan. Those were days of mixed emotions and tinged with toxicity from over-engagement with passionate fandom spaces, and I feel more stable to have stepped back slightly, to not have my identity relying so much on too narrow a range of interests, and to have discovered a broader range of games to let into my heart. Still, I had to smile upon seeing Dixie Kong or Samus, or roll my eyes slightly as every single Koopaling took up space as with Mario Kart 8’s roster.
Which leads me to an analysis of the game itself. Being essentially a mid-era release in the Picross e series, this has some improvements from its direct rewards program predecessor. Normal or Free mode are now an options toggle, along with various levels of hint settings. Mega Picross has been implemented but not as a mirror of existing pictures; rather, they selected 45 of the original 86 (plus two Micross) from CN Picross to re-present in Mega mode. I prefer this method. The number of puzzles has also been expanded: on top of those 45 there are 105 all-new puzzles plus three of the larger Micross type.
The range of depicted characters is also a better balance compared to the original. CN Picross had an “EAD master race” vibe [ie. Nintendo’s tendency to highlight those handful of game series primarily created and maintained by its internal teams and ignore others] in its selections with a focus mainly on Mario, Zelda, and retro properties. Plus expands the bubble slightly with Kirby, Star Fox, Fire Emblem, and some others, seemingly influenced by the cast of Smash 4 to some degree. As for the puzzle composition, Jupiter’s recent Sega Picross game on the Switch is a good comparison; I felt that the latter had too many close-ups on human faces while this does a bit better of a job with variety. Replicating official artworks again for the Micross collages is a bland choice though, I feel. You can see a complete set of screenshots of the game’s puzzles in the image above.
Playing this with a stylus on a good old capacitive screen was a great experience, and I still think it’s the best way to play a nonogram game. Finally getting to play this elusive game was also satisfying. Now that official support is ending for the 3DS, I highly recommend hacking your old handheld (it’s easy, non-invasive, and reversable) and seeing what’s out there in the world of homebrew software and region-locked games. Just in terms of Jupiter’s Picross games for a start, there’s also the original CN release, e9, and Pictlogica Final Fantasy that all were Japan-exclusive!

Hi, I loved the pilot of Lackadaisy!! As someone who used to live near St. Louis a long time ago, my brain has latched on to this question and won’t let go:
Is the bridge in the first scene based on any particular real-life bridge over the Mississippi River?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It feels familiar, but I can’t nail it down. I can’t find a bridge that crosses the Mississippi that looks just like the one in the pilot. So, I’m curious if it’s fictional or based on a real life bridge in StL I’m just not thinking of (Or, it could just be a generic bridge design and I’m overthinking this. We’ll see, haha).
Thank you, and I wish you all the best. Thanks for making such a neat story.
It's a fictional bridge. You can see a very fanciful version of the Eads Bridge in the distance, though. (It's the world's first steel truss bridge and was emblematic of the city before the Arch took over that job.) The bridge Rocky is on has truss shapes akin to the Chain of Rocks Bridge, but would be more in the location of Merchants Bridge.

The Priory of The Orange Tree - Samantha Shannon
High fantasy - Queer Rep
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This humongous beast of a book is one of my all time favourite reads. I have read it three times since i bought it, and every single time it snatches me into a world beyond my wildest dreams. The way Miss Samantha Shannon intricately weaves the world of the Priory from its complex political factions to the different religious regimes of the various kingdoms all seemingly originating form the same event blows my mind away.
Tumblr media
Cover Art: Ivan Belikov
We follow the story from 4 different perspectives, each bringing their own voices into the storytelling experience, The East with "Tané" and "Niclays", The West with "Ead" and "Loth".
I got to live through each character as they uncovered conspiracies, secrets, histories, and emotions. I got to witness a hazy truth slowly being broken down to pieces as our narrators began to unveil its nooks and crannies. How they all tied in together at the end to reform the clear outline that binds their different cultures into each other.
I loved the anticipation i had reading through the different events of the book waiting for the characters to meet, specifically Ead and Tané. I loved the language of the book and how it made it easy for me to actually immerse myself into its world. To forget about the modernity of our current time and just exist within the time frame of the priory. I loved the way everything written within the book converged towards the plotline. How it all made sense at the end, every small detail written. And most importantly i loved how Miss Shannon did not shy away from the horrors of reality, bridging a world built upon fantasy and fairytale with the harshness of what's real. Reflecting the difficulty of situations with real casualties that break you, but still knowing that they needed to happen. A lot of books nowadays tend to shy away from killing characters even when it drastically ruins their substance, so i'm really glad that Miss Shannon found the perfect balance within this story.
This book will forever have a special place in my heart and i cannot wait to dive into its world again with the release of its prequel.
