SO SO SO

My two hyperfixations right now are Ensemble Stars and Project Sekai, so of course I had to think about what enstars and pjsekai characters I would want to see interact. And of course I made a list that has been sitting in my Notes app for God knows how long…

Units I want to see interact:

WonderlandsxShowtime and RYUSEITAI: There has been FANART of this for Gods sake (here and here) BECAUSE THEY ARE LITERALLY EACH OTHERS COUNTERPARTS. Like they’ve got the confident leader, the hyperactive group member(s), That One Guy, and the only semi-normal ones! I want to see Emu, Tetora, and Sengoku practicing poses together, Rui studying Kanata like a lab specimen, and Nene and Midori looking at each other, exhausted, saying “you too?” “sigh…yeah…”

Vivid Bad Squad and Knights: MY TWO FAVORITE UNITS INTERACTING!! YAY!! EVERYONE CHEERS!!! Akito would be even more exhausted now that he has more idiots to take care of…He would fucking HATE Leo…and I CRAVE Kohane and Suou interactions. I think Ritsu would probably use Toya as a lap pillow, he’d probably like the fact Toya would be too scared to move. Also I want to see An gay panicking over Arashi. I will accept no substitutes.

More More Jump and Ra*bits: EEK EEK EEK!! This would be so adorable like I just realized how similar Nazuna and Airi are…like they’re both energetic and responsible tsundere types (also did you know tsundere autocorrects to reindeer??) and Tomoya and Minori would be so precious…Shizuku would LOVE the Ra*bits members, she’d probably have so much fun playing with them. It would just be the cutest most wholesome group interactions ever.

Leo/Need and Trickstar: THEY ARE LITERALLY EACH OTHERS COUNTERPARTS OH MY GOD

Characters I want to see interact:

Hiyori Tomoe (Eden) and Mizuki Akiyama (Nightcord At 25:00): None of you understand how deeply I CRAVE this. I would commit FELONIES for this. I would murder someone or give someone toe curling backshots for JUST ONE HIYOMIZU INTERACTION. I want to see these two girlbosses girlboss together. They’re both mischievous transgender (With Hiyori it’s just a headcanon for Mizuki it’s practically confirmed) gremlins who love shopping and tormenting their two loyal servants (Ena and Jun) who they are most definitely in love with. (And Ena and Jun are probably trans too tbh) I want them to shop and try on clothes together. THAT IS ALL PLEASE

Rinne Amagi (Crazy:B) and Akito Shinonome (Vivid Bad Squad): YAY REDHEAD TO REDHEAD COMMUNICATION!!! I feel like Rinne would see through Akito’s “good boy” persona IMMEDIATELY and would be having the time of his life teasing Akito and trying to make him drop the persona. Akito would probably either try to keep up the persona to the end out of spite or drop it immediately to yell at Rinne. Either way it would be hilarious and a repeat of the AkiMizu interactions.

Sena Izumi (Knights) and Ena Shinonome (Nightcord At 25:00): Bro…they are literally gender bent versions of each other…Like come on. Two tsunderes who are hell bent on looking good at all times, are crushing on transgender gremlins (Leo and Mizuki) and are extremely fixated on social media and makeup?? Like yes please?? I want them to shop for makeup together, shit talk everyone, Ena force Izumi to take her social media pictures for her, and see them share skincare routines. I am BEGGING for this I DON’T CARE WHOSE DICK I HAVE TO SUCK PLEASE

Natsume Sakasaki (Switch) and Rui Kamishiro (WonderlandsxShowtime): I mean…I don’t think I have to explain this one…

Arashi Narukami (Knights) and Shizuku Hinomori (More More Jump): I would KILL for these two to model together and try on cute outfits. Arashi would get extremely worn out by having to watch over Shizuku 24/7 but would find her too precious to leave alone and honestly same. I imagine it to be a lot like when Mafuyu and Honami had to babysit Shizuku during the 2024 April Fools event. And to top it off, them as a duo would give everyone gay (and straight) panic. An would spontaneously combust with just one look.

Subaru Akehoshi (Trickstar) and Saki Tenma (Leo/Need): Honestly Trickstar and Leo/Need have so much in common! Their uniforms both suck!! (/j but not really) Subaru and Saki are both the energetic golden retrievers of the group, and I would LOVE to see them both interact, especially with characters like Shio and Midori. Just little wholesome bundles of sunshine!

Kaoru Hakaze (UNDEAD) and Mafuyu Asahina (Nightcord At 25:00): I’m just imagining Kaoru flirting with her (DW MAFUYU IS CANONICALLY 17/18 SO IN THIS AU SHES 18) and Mafuyu being completely unaffected by it…Kaoru would probably know something was up with her and be freaked out, similar to Emu, but would keep on regardless

Midori Takamine (RYUSEITAI) and Nene Kusanagi (WonderlandsxShowtime): Part 3 of They Are Literally Each Other! They are both the only normal members of their groups with crushes on their group leaders (POLYSHOW AND MIDOCHIA FOR THE WIN!!) and are both cynical and have a love for mascots! Him and Nene would go to the arcade together and absolutely EMPTY the crane machines. They would also play video games together and he would probably just backseat her lol

Kuro Kiryu (AKATSUKI) and Kohane Azusawa (Vivid Bad Squad): Like imagine how wholesome this would be. Kohane would probably be intimidated by Kuro at first, but she would warm up to him pretty quick. Kuro, on the other hand, would probably think she’s adorable and precious and treat her kinda like a small animal. THEY WOULD BE THE ONLY DUO EVER and honestly would work as a ship…Think about it…

HiMERU (Crazy:B) and Emu Otori (WonderlandsxShowtime): OK OK HEAR ME OUT Emu would probably be like a toned down, less assholey Rinne in the sense she would wear HiMERU down to no end but he would kinda subconsciously take care of her, like an older brother with a hyperactive little sister!

Mika Kagehira (Valkyrie) and Minori Hanasato (More More Jump): OH MY GOD TWO SILLIES WITH AUTISM AND EXTREMELY VISIBLE CRUSHES!! OH MY GOD!!

Leo Tsukinaga (Knights) and Kanade Yoisaki (Nightcord at 25:00): Two mentally ill composers with savior complexes meet…what could go wrong…They would probably like each other and compose songs together, and I think Leo would try to force Kanade to go outside and she would try to reject him in the nicest way possible but would just go along with it in the end…And then she would pass out and Leo would dump cold water on her or something (because he’s STUPID and I love him)

* Talia Ishtar’s surname is a reference to the similarly Egyptian Ishtar family from Yu-Gi-Oh.

* Giorgio Nero gets his surname from Risotto Nero, a minor antagonist in Vento Aureo.

* Iris Ravencroft gets her surname from Ben Ravencroft from Scooby Doo and the Witch’s Ghost. Her father, Nigel, is named after another role Ben’s voice actor Tim Curry played: Nigel Thornberry.

* Winnifred Sinclair’s first name comes from the werewolf kid in Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School.

* Morrigan Moon, who has a crescent moon-shaped scar on her face, had her nome inspired by Morgan Moonscar from Scooby Doo on Zombie Island.

* Beatrice Cullen’s first name was inspired by Beatrix Kiddo of Kill Bill.

* Juri Yubari’s surname comes from Kill Bill minor antagonist Gogo Yubari.

* Max Viper of the in-universe Mercenaries series’ name is an allusion to Snake Plissken.

* Morag gets her name from the lake monster said to live in Loch Morar.

* Piper gets his name from the Pied Piper, who similarly controlled rats.

* Tyrfing gets his name from a legendary cursed sword.

* Eve’s name comes from the Biblical Eve, hence the strong connection with snakes and apples.

* Amon’s sister Eden gets her name from the Biblical garden.

* The Leeds family gets their surname from the legend of the Jersey Devil, AKA the Leeds Devil.

* Farrah Highgate gets her name from the Highgate vampire incident, which she was canonically involved in in-universe.

* Lazarus Lux of the Sons of Salem is named after the Biblical Lazarus.

* Nick Scratch, Sebastian Darke’s devil son, gets his name from two of Satan’s monikers: Old Nick and Mr. Scratch.

* Hansel Armstrong gets his name from the story of Hansel and Gretel, something that is commented on in-universe as he went through a similar experience as a child.

* Sebastian Darke’s merfolk daughter Charybdis gets her name from the whirlpool-creating monster of Greek myth, fitting for the queen of the Mediterranean and doubly so since she loves to create whirlpools herself.

Literature

* The hunter organization the Silverwings gets their name from the bat-themed novel Silverwing.

* Humbert Archambault gets his first name from Humbert Humbert of Lolita, though rather than being a pedophile he is only a horribly unpleasant person.

* Both in and out of universe, Dorian Ferris gets his name from Dorian Gray.

* Mina Lovett gets her name from Mina Harker from Dracula; by a stroke of luck, “Wilhelmina” is also a name attributed to Mrs. Lovett.

* Allen Lecarde’s name is obviously supposed to sound like “Alucard”—Dracula backwards. This is commented on in-universe.

* Arya Mournblade, the main character of an in-universe film franchise, gets her name from Arya Stark of A Song of Ice and Fire fame.

* Yorick’s witch coven member Red Death is a big shout out to the works of Edgar Allen Poe, from his moniker to his real name (Fortunato) to the name of his raven familiar (Lenore).

* Cyrus Lovelace gets his surname from the villain of The Amulet of Samarkand.

* Rose Milliner gets her name from the psychic vampire Rose the Hat from Doctor Sleep.

* The surname of the Cullens family is inspired by the family of the same name from Twilight.

* Vampire clown Wayne Nicol’s last name is a sort of twist on Pennywise from It; instead of a PENNY, he’s a NICOL, because as a good guy he’s worth more. Harhar.

* Sebastian Darke’s djinn daughter Shahrazad is named after the narrator of the Arabian Nights tales.

* Very weird case with Amalric Dracula; while initially he was meant to be a public domain crossover character, he changed so much and is so radically different (he’s a good guy, he’s not white, etc) that he’s really only getting the name from the famous vampire.

Music

* Sebastian Darke’s first name comes from the band Sin With Sebastian.

* Marianna Cross is named after the Ghost song “Mary on a Cross.”

* “Little Sunshine,” Darke’s pet name for Goldie Dawn, comes from the Ghost song “Call Me Little Sunshine.”

* Roxanne Sumner and all of her alters are references to Police:

* The name Roxanne comes from the song of the same name.

* Her surname is the same as Sting’s.

* The alter Stewart is named after drummer Stewart Copeland.

* While the alter Dolores’ name comes from the novel Lolita, it doubles as an allusion to an infamously clunky line from “Don’t Stand So Close to Me” that mentions “That book by Nabokov.”

* The alter Bottles is named after the song “Message in a Bottle.”

* The alter Frances is named after Sting’s ex-wife Frances Tomelty. Her moniker of “Breathtaker” is a reference to “Every Breath You Take.”

* The alter Moze gets her name from the album Zenyatta Mondatta (takes the first two letters of each word).

* Damien Moonchild’s surname comes from the Iron Maiden song “Moonchild.”

* Weston Love’s is named after the Iron Maiden song “Wasting Love.”

* Jason Leeds’ vigilante persona Loveless is named after the My Bloody Valentine album (this is commented on in-story).

* Macheath Sharpe’s first name comes from the song “Mack the Knife.” In addition, their father’s family name was Fleetwood, which technically makes them Fleetwood Mac(k).

* Rhiannon Rhydderch is named after the Fleetwood Mac song “Rhiannon.”

1500-1599 Recap Part 57:

Seema did not enjoy pregnancy and I was shocked they got pregnant so quickly, six years into their marriage, since I checked Gilbert and Seema’s fertility chance and Seema had a 31% chance of pregnancy and Gilbert had a 3% chance. I did cheat them twins so that at least one of their children would survive turns out that was unnecessary since both twins lived to adulthood.

Eden became a toddler as Thomas began to really show his age. Larissa came to stay with her brother at the end of his life which I felt rounded out the second generation.

Ruth and John Laurent II became children which relieved Wilmot of her nanny duties and Thomas Silversweater became a teenager.

Hero Scans November Status update

It’s that time again... the days seem to speed past in a blur. I’m cringing a little at the number of projects that have had minimal progress in the last 3 months - I’m sorry, dear readers, migraines have been unforgiving, and our group members have been pretty busy with university and work. That being said, we are more on track than we were, so please continue to bear with us!

Ongoing projects

Akiyama-kun: I’m currently typesetting the rather insane extra chapter to release with chapter 5 and get vol 2 off our plate.

Badass: We are currently up to date, and Haji-sensei confirmed that the December edition of Canna will contain the penultimate chapter of Badass, at 41 pages.

Boys of the Dead: The final chapter was released in October’s issue of Canna, and the tanko is due for release on 12/28. Kimchi is helping me out with the last bit of cleaning of chapter 4 as I am swamped, and the typesetting is about half done. I’m considering waiting for the tanko version for chapter 5 as I know there has been some repaneling of previous chapters, so there will be other pages to redo anyway.

Gift: I’m working on chapter 8 at the moment, probably about 50% through the typeset. Chapter 9 is also about 50% done.

Hadakeru: I’m almost done with the chapter 10 typeset.

Hotaru wa Ashita Shinu: Argh! Well, I have started typesetting chapter 4, and finished the cleans for chapter 5, but I’ve been a bit focused on getting Zetsubou off the ground since I was able to start working seriously again, so I haven’t given this the focus it needs as chapter 4 is demanding.

Ikotsu no Tabiji: We expect chapter 4 to be released in the December edition of Canna. I’m currently finishing off the typeset for chapter 2, and chapter 3 is fully cleaned, translated, and proofed, and just going for initial typeset now.

Itoshi no XL Saizu: Gigabytes has typeset the second chapter of vol 2, so it’s just a matter of making time for the qc and sorting out the decensoring. Chapter 3 is cleaned and translated, and waiting to be proofed.

Kyouken Hachiko: The Vol 2 extra is typeset and going through QC, and we’ll typeset the short Vol 1 extra and release the two together. Ravioli is currently translating chapter 12.

Love me Love my dog: I managed to squeeze in some work on the second chapter, but I haven't been able to dedicate serious time to it in the last months.

Makotoshiyaka: My poor neglected favourite, ugh. I am still working on chapter 4, there are a few pieces of typesetting that are a little difficult to sort out harmoniously with the artwork, but once I’ve sorted that out the rest is straightforward. The volume is fully translated.

Shiawase: Chapter 6 is typeset and decensored, and going through QC. the Kagefumi no koi chapters are also typeset and decensored, and going through QC. Chapter 6.5 is fully proofed, and I’ll start the typeset shortly.

Strange Paradise: About 90% done with SP4, I will make time for this before Christmas, damn it. SP5 is translated but work remains to be done on the cleans.

Reverse: Ugh, yes, migraines and scheduling. :( Varrick is helping me out with the chapter 2 typeset so hopefully we will be able to release it soonish, and chapter 3 is fully cleaned.

Warau Oni: Not huge amounts of progress on this, though I typeset about half of chapter 7 recently. Rina has been hugely productive on the translation front, so all 3 volumes are fully translated.

Yamaarashi no Ondo: I’m in the middle of typesetting chapter 5, and we expect chapter 6 in the next edition of ihrHertz.

Zetsubou: This long-running series is finally coming to an end, with the final chapter being released in the next edition of OnBlue. Dusting the first 4 chapters of Zetsubou has eaten a certain amount of my time recently, but once that is done, I can mostly leave the heavy lifting to the rest of the team, hurrah! Kimchi is working on Chapter 3, Varrick is typesetting Chapter 2, Astro is gracing us with great decensoring, and I am dusting Chapter 4.

As Yet Unreleased Projects:

Eden: Ichinose Yuma has finally brought this to a close, with the final chapter being due out in the coming issue of Be Boy. Kimchi is finishing the cleans for chapter 1, but after that we do still want to wait for the tanko release(s), as there is a huge amount of decensoring required otherwise.

Kimi ni omou, Ao: This is fully cleaned and translated, but I still have work to complete on the first chapter typeset.

Konya Beddo de Matteiru: Once I’ve cleared a few more chapters off my plate, I will finish up chapter 1. Chapter 4 will be released in the next iHertz. Soreha Amakute nigai: I haven’t had time to look at the chapter typeset since the original typesetter went on hiatus, but once Shiawase is complete, I’ll pick up the first chapter. The volume is fully translated.

Toumei na Ai no Utsuwa: The lovely Ravioli and Aizengard are translating this one for us, and Tina is working on the cleaning for chapter 1.

Yumeimiru Vampire: Gigabytes has done a lovely job on the first chapter typeset, we’ve just been waiting for the decensoring, so I’ll try and qc this next week.
