Construction Automation: Types, Benefits and Future Outlook
Introduction In recent years, the construction industry has lagged behind manufacturing in adopting automation technologies. However, the current landscape presents an opportune moment for change. The construction sector’s trajectory towards a digital transformation is now marked by the increasing integration of automated technologies. From streamlining digital design and analysis processes to…

Hey! I was wondering if it was planned for the MC to have an appearance? In the sense of height, skin tone, hair length/texture, etc. So far, I haven't noticed any references to anything like that or choices that determine it, but I know a lot of visual novels sometimes rely on height to create more tension (Y'know, like some characters towering over others and that famous "let me help you with that!" When a character is too short to reach something) or hair combing/braiding to signify intimacy between characters.
If this has already been answered or I've missed something in the game, feel free to ignore this lol!
Noooope. We try to be mindful about not writing anything regarding MC’s appearance or physical features! For various reasons.
In fact, hair especially is something that we make sure NOT to incorporate or emphasize often considering that not everyone who plays this game has hair that people can run their fingers through/hair that can be ruffled/or even hair that can be seen.
So really, we try to be as ambiguous and unassuming as possible when it comes to the MC.
#keyframes asks#there’s other things like— okay if the MC is short and another character offers to help because of it— then what about a tall MC?#might as well just have the other character help regardless of height so there’s no point in clocking it#an inside look on the things we devs have to consider to make things inclusive#and also efficient for production uwu

We put enormous emphasis on optimizing quantities. Our attention is shackled to screens where we make certain numbers go up and other numbers go down. We want to measure everything so that we can control and optimize it. The benefit of this is that we are able to fulfill our material needs more efficiently and with less effort.
But by doing so, we begin to think only about quantities. We create incentives to sacrifice quality in order to obtain better quantitative results. We become so focused on measuring and optimizing, on increasing efficiency and productivity, that we stop thinking about what is happening to us in our day-to-day lives.
It is perhaps not surprising that we then feel there is something missing — as though life is not going as well as it ought to be, even though all of the numbers are moving in the right direction.

If u don’t mind could u explain how u unfucked redfin’s changes. because I was trying to help my uncle with house searching, but it’s literally so unusable now that he won’t do any searching himself. If I can set it back to the old layout for him then that’d be swell
Yeah sure haha! I assume you're talking about the same layout change I got (which is that the map switched to the right side of the page, and the listings now take up way more space than before yeah?)
It's actually easy to unfuck because the way Redfin did it was by adding style overrides based on a particular className added to affected Dom elements (pretty smart for A/B rollout, tbh).
Lucky for me that makes it easy to put it back. You can do it too if you do this
Go to Redfin
Open the Dev Tools (either by F12, or by your browser's menu > tools > devtools. You can look it up for your particular browser)
Find the console
Paste this text and then hit enter
```
const config = { attributes: true, childList: true, subtree: true }; const className = 'reversePosition';
const revertLayout = () => { document.querySelectorAll(`.${className}`).forEach(element =>{ element.classList.remove(className); }); }
const observer = new MutationObserver((mutationList, observer) => revertLayout());
observer.observe(document, config);
revertLayout();
```
After that it'll be unfucked!
(If you close that tab and open Redfin again you'll have to do it again tho.)
Here's a video of me unfucking Hollywood Hills. I originally tried to make it a gif but I'm the engineer person not the media production person
#DISCLAIMER IN THE TAGS BECAUSE ID FEEL GUILTY OTHERWISE: the runtime efficiency of this is Not production worthy#the revertLayout callback triggers on any mutation of any element of the DOM#absolute shotgun approach because I do Not care enough to figure out which DOM mutations are putting that damn class back on elements#and I Do Not care about the runtime efficiency of Redfin#this probably isn't even user noticeable but my ass would never check this kind of thing in at actual work#I have standards#but anyway by my own testing (doing shit in a tab where I have the change and one where I don't) i dont see any noticeable difference

If there is one piece of corporate-speak that I especially hate at this time in my life, it's the word efficiencies.
I never thought I would stand against the idea of, you know, minimising effort or expense—but the plain word "efficient" must mean something else. Whenever someone is creating efficiencies, on the other hand, it means they have spectacularly fucked up something that was working just fine.
#shaun talks#language#they created efficiencies and ruined my ability to do a mock recall#production has many efficiencies now (to our detriment)

I wonder how many business majors turn out like I did: disillusioned leftists who view all they learned for that degree with a healthy dose of skepticism.
#don't get me wrong there ARE things that are worth knowing. how to distribute a supply chain or scheduling a project efficiently#I'm a big fan of how it taught me to understand tariffs and PPP and comparative productivity etc#but most of what I got out of it was either understanding economics at scale or understanding human psychology/sociology wrt capitalism#anyway. weird thoughts after the hbomberguy video mentioned Somerton was a business grad more than once#phoenix talks

maybe i am the remote worker that executives and corporate real estate investors fear monger about. i saw a comment on the remote work subreddit that said something like “they think we all just roll out of bed at 10am, pretend to be online while we’re really at the gym, log off at 4, and stay in our sweats all day”
smash cut to me reading said comment while on the treadmill at the gym during work hours
#like. how did you know my whole itinerary#for legal reasons this is a joke and i’ve never done anything like that ever in my life#but hypothetically if you actually were more productive in a remote work environment#and you generally work efficiently#you might be able to get the same amount or more work done in 30 hours at home than you would with 40 in an office#so one could. THEORETICALLY. produce more while working less.#causing no meaningful harm or loss to anyone because the output is still meeting or exceeding the requirements#food for thought#again obviously i have NEVER experienced any of this firsthand. we’re just chatting right now

man i sure do wish someone wrote a few things about the means of production themselves not being the enemy but instead something to sieze for our class. sure would be handy, oh well back to declaring the ontological evil of any technology that leads to changes in labour relations ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
#re. the conveyor belt thing#efficiency in production is not the enemy here lol it's actually the capitalists? shocking i know

hey so uhh
you wanna be a robot?
heck yeah i wanna be a robot. human flesh is weak and pitiful.
I would be so much happier if I had robot parts. Genuinely would be fantastic. Monster parts are also acceptable honestly.
#being human just seems... bad#idk. i dont want to be human at the very least#and robots are efficient and productive#ask puddle

Sketch for a Halsin panting I just started
#my art#illustration#bg3#digital art#no lineart we die like men#I’m honestly pretty messy with drawing and I prefer to keep it that way instead of refining it for a couple of reasons#A- it’s more efficient and I spend less time on a piece when I don’t spend forever drawing detailed lineart that will be covered with paint#B- I feel like any drawings become stiff if I refine them too much and that winds up in the final piece#anyway I think it’s important that we as artists show the messy stages of our work and not just the final product

me when time moves forward at a steady pace: how the fuck is it more than halfway through july already. this fuckers rapidly sprinting when im not looking huh
#i have so many things i need to do#before the semester starts again this fall#i need to work on comms. i need to work on a project due the end of the month. i want to do artfight. i want to make art for myself. i want#to do art studies. i want to start an alt drawing more suggestive stuff. i mean what who said that mustve been the wind#and thats just the things related to drawing.#i need to organize my room. i need to learn [redacted]. i want to cook more. i want to socialize more. i want to play games. i want to-#watch and read and listen to so many things#yet i have a finite amount of time to do everything#and half of a day is consumed by me just snoozing#and when i do work on something i feel like im Not Efficient Enough.#i cant just chill in vcs i need to be productive and draw too. and if i dont make significant progress then I Have Failed.#i cant just watch New Season of Show. thats Time Focused on One Singular Activity. gotta do multiple things at once or ill feel bad after#because i know that once the semester starts back up then im gonna be 90% less online#back to the depths of graphic design hell making infographics and powerpoints and brand identities#not having the time to draw anything furry or for myself for several months#anywho its 5am#i should go to sleep#sorry for the ramble im just. only now realizing how little time i have#when i wake up i have to really lock in on drawing and stuff#ive wasted so much time playing a game this past week#if i hadnt played it idve made so much more progress by now and im kicking myself so bad mentally now that im like mostly done w the game#gahhh#anywho yeah sorry for the ramble ill post more soon#sho.scramblin

not dogs, but work stuff driving me insane rn: the enshittification of all our crucial and most used programs as person working for local government.
1.) it's so clear that so many of these companies did not hire UX designers whatsoever or anybody that is meant to give any consideration to usability of the program. why must we take everything that had a relatively neutral colored but non-white background with the fields being white boxes with lots of space to breathe and turn it all into the same horrible on my eyes white background with white fields (hard to use) that bump right up against each other (hard to use)??? These are programs i have to look at most of my day. i do not want them white on white. my eyes are searing just thinking about it. LET YOUR DATA FIELDS FUCKING BREATHE.
2.) the deletion of crucial infrastructure within the programs we use and eliminating administrative control. i. am. the head of my department! i need administrative control.
3.) lack of consideration to towns that aren't city/county populations. yeah in place with a million people you might have users doing it one way but you can't JUST cater to that and eliminate the older process that works for smaller towns/villages.
like i don't know what back end the older programs/portals were made with, they certainly look "more outdated" than the new versions but they are honestly so much more functional and pleasant to look at. the new ones seem to all be made with the same drag and drop back end and it's driving me to insanity because it's so limited it what it can make. and what it does make? Is ugly and extremely hard on my eyes.
#not dogs#local gov#enshittification#and i don't really have a choice to use them or not#so my daily work life using these products just becomes worse#please show me a program update made in 2025 that has a better UX experience than one from 2006. oh wait. not possible.#when your local govs are taking a long time to do something please know it's because we've had unnecessary garbage imposed on us#and it takes a program that's incredibly efficient to use#and makes it MISERABLE#cloud based this cloud based that#i truly do not care either way just make sure your program doesn't suck#it's always really interesting in the demos where i complain about a feature being eliminated and they say 'we didn't think about that'#or like when i complain about the user experience and design#and again. they have no answers#its funny bc i'm sure they don't expect people to be able to vocalize WHY they dislike a look of a program/portal#but i spend so many years doing user experience for websites it's like please be real

trying to reframe 'i'm so fucking lazy, I do nothing 95% of the day and im wildly productive the other 5%, imagine what i could do if I actually tried to do something worthwhile that 95%' to 'Im capable of being wildly productive for 5% of my day BECAUSE i fuck around for 95% of it, it keeps me from totally burning out and gives me time to work through that eventful 5%'
#because brother i have had rotations where i Need to be wildly productive for more than 5% of my day#and uh i crash and burn pretty good#but you know? ive done pretty well with just 5% of 100%#i dont think anyone can tell me that im falling short of some societal metric#to delete#i always thought i was lazy. and tbh i am! but im also VERY efficient. and pretty good when i do try
