World of Hassle, Alan Palomo (2023)

Alan Palomo has perfected that unspecific American City Vice sound, his music shimmeringly superficial, dazzlingly nocturnal, snappily camp. His first work under his birth name is much more consistent than his old Neon Indian stuff – though potentially to a fault. World of Hassle has no pauses, no breaths, no blinks: its blare of pastiche and rollicking pace, when enjoyed all at once, can get a little tiring. Though make no mistake, take each of these cuts in isolation and they bounce like nothing else I’ve heard this year.

Donna Summers - Bad Girls This is the first time I've actually listened to the entirety of this album all the way through, and it was absolutely worth it. This is just such a great disco album. Her voice on this thing is absolutely electric, and the choruses and performances throughout are fucking top notch. I particularly like some of the more electronic-ey sounding parts of the album. The whole thing's production is just off the charts.

Hey, I don't know how many people on Tumblr are from Ukraine, but I wanted to introduce you to another Ukrainian musician. Orion's Belt is a space disco project of Andriy Matviychuk. I don't know too much about him other than that he currently lives in the Greater London area and has worked as - among other things - a UI designer/artist, an art director and is currently the Creative VP at Tripledot Studios. If you dig EDM, this stuff'll be right up your alley.
