I definitely think some of the people who pick this pile have had previous lifetimes. I was already thinking this with the high priestess but now with these two cards we have:  reminiscing (6 of cups) and transformation (death). Even if you don’t remember your past lives, you will bring in some of your skills from those lives to start helping you find your answers. You’re going to feel some strong gut instincts when you are thinking about new paths to go down – trust those!

As a whole, though, whether you have past lives, are brand new, or have no idea: Start each new day with a blank canvas. Live in the NOW. Remember the things that once brought you joy and implement them into your life again.  If you have kids in your life (your own children, nieces/nephews, students, etc), try to see life through their eyes when you’re around them. They will teach you how to just BE, to let go of the bullshit, and embrace the innocence you have subconsciously forgotten.

Stop doubting yourself! You may have been on a journey to find your purpose for your whole life and you are never quite sure if you found it. There always seems to be something “missing”, but I truly think that’s just what life is like. It’s the opportunity for constant learning. It is your push to stay present and understand the now. When you don’t feel “productive” it doesn’t mean you’re lazy or failing. In times of doubt, remember the amazing things about yourself. Be kind to your mind.

This is my favorite card in tarot <3 This is my “everything is, or will be, exactly how it’s supposed to be” card. If there is something specific that you are trying to manifest, the universe is telling you that you can do it. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to get started, this card is that sign! Hello Rena, you have come to the right person! Not only do I do tarot readings, but I am also a practicing pop culture occultist over on @jasper-pagan-witch! While I am not, myself, a magical girl, I know of quite a few blogs who are! So we'll start with the reading and then I'll drop some blogs and links of interest for ya at the bottom, yeah?

So to start with, let's get into the reading part! I'm going to rephrase your question a little bit, into "How can I continue my goal of becoming a practicing magical girl?" just for ease of reading. I have selected The Guardian of the Night Tarot thanks to its strong animal theme, as I know that many magical girl series have a lot to do with animal companions. This is a beautiful collage-style deck (unfortunately, I do have to clarify that it's not AI-generated, because we live in a world where creative endeavors are being shilled to art theft machines) and it has given us the Nine of Wands upright.

Look at that beautiful fucking porcupine.

Anyway, the main theme of this card is boundaries according to the deck's author herself. Sometimes, you've gotta step back and take a break - you can't go at 100% all the time. You gotta let some things happen to you. The path you are looking to tread involves a lot of responsibility - any contract with a spirit typically does, but especially so when you're setting yourself up to be a magical protector. You've gotta pause and take a look at yourself and your motivations. What about being a magical girl appeals to you? What are your lines, and how likely is it that they will be crossed?

These are things that you should definitely keep in mind as you read on for my recommendations.

My first recommendation is to find your community. I know of a few blogs who are at varying points in their magical girl magic/witch/occult/pagan practices - @majokkid, @cl0udii, @noctuarie, and @kuhli-mahou are just a handful that I know the existence of! You can also check tags here on Tumblr like #irl mahou or #mahoublr.

As for book recommendations, while it's not an overtly witchy/occult book, The Magical Girl's Guide to Life: Find Your Inner Power, Fight Everyday Evil & Save the Day With Self-Care by Jacque Aye could be an interesting read for you! It's more self-health or self-care focused, but it's only a few degrees off of being a pop culture magic book in its own right! My review of it can be read on @jasper-pagan-witch at this link! I quite enjoyed it.

When it comes to learning tarot, my best advice is to get a deck you really like and to jump right in. You can find magical girl series-inspired decks all over Amazon and Etsy and Ebay, but you don't even need to limit yourself to that! There are tarot decks for nearly every theme you can think of, from animals (including specific animals) to mythology to queer decks to the run-of-the-mill Rider-Waite-Smith deck. Just getting a deck that you like and find easy to read will do much for you. Beyond that, I also have a bunch of posts saved in @jasper-grimoire under the tarot section that you might find interesting! There are nearly a million different ways to read a deck and to do divination, so you've just gotta jump in and learn.

The path I've decided to take is to do a marathon through all my patterns, knit them up, take new pictures for them, fix up and adjust the patterns and then release them as I intend them to be on Ravelry! There are going to be a lot of hiccups along the way but it's what I'm willing to do to recover my job after I took that hit from Etsy.

I started with this set of dishcloths right here. They are made only using knit and purl stitches to make these pictures I've designed so they're very easy and not very big. I made these back in 2017 and made them a set on etsy in 2023 and now the set is an ebook on my Ravelry store! They're also available for sale individually for $2. There haven't been many takers for these over the years even though I enjoy the dynamics of each of them so maybe they just haven't found their crowd yet

I can see these being good for friend groups of creative people or as a gift to arts teachers or a gift to yourself as a dishcloth or face cloth

these are written predominantly for the *rising* signs but they are also intuitively "channeled" enough that they should work for any dominant energy you have! aries: your week is primed for conversation and charm, but there is some risk of accidental confrontation which may go astray. if you can't say anything nice, you know, don't say anything at all.

taurus: unstable times like these don't typically agree with you so surround yourself with more agreeable things and activities. you may have to go forth into the chaos, but you can do it in comfortable and stylish clothes, or perhaps from your couch.

gemini: changes this week may be less permanent than they initially seem. yet at the same time even temporary changes nudge you towards your longest term destiny. walk and the path will appear; trust that everything is happening for a good reason.

cancerians: mars still retrograde in your sign is busy but at least it's mostly with good things. you might have to get moving and put yourself out there, but you will probably have more fun than expected once you're out there.

leo: aquarius season is on and that means your relationships and other various forms of partnership and close friendship are lit up by the solar glow. while the sun is ill at ease in aquarius, it brings a little of your own leonic warmth and affection to where it is really needed.

libra: it makes sense for librans to look forward to aquarius season all day. for one thing, it contains valentine's day, which is hard for even the most cynical libra to dismiss as simply commercial nonsense. but even without that, the start of aquarius season this week brings the sun into your 5th house of fun, creativity, and yes, romance. enjoy :)

scorpio: once the sun moves from capricorn into aquarius this week you start to feel a lot of flashbacks - hopefully including some good ones - to the recent pluto in capricorn era, due to your ruling planet still being near that border of signs and sort of overlapping the two signs during the conjunction. you can do with those flashbacks whatever alchemy fits for you.

Growing up, I never quite fit into the mould of traditional success. I struggled with math, a subject that seemed to block my path at every turn. Despite being drawn to creativity and language, my academic journey hit a major roadblock when my dreams of a university education were dashed due to my poor math grades. It was a devastating blow; I felt lost and unsure of my future.

But as they say, every cloud has a silver lining. Forced to rethink my plans, I enrolled in a Pre-Social Work program, only to face rejection from the Social Work program itself. It was yet another setback, leaving me feeling like a failure. However, I refused to let these disappointments define me.

With determination, I pursued a Certificate in Public Relations, a decision driven by my desire to turn my fear of public speaking into a strength. This experience taught me resilience — the ability to adapt and grow despite setbacks. My journey took me through various retail jobs, each offering its own lessons and challenges, until I finally found myself drawn back to an old interest: Early Childhood Education.

Entering college in my mid-twenties, I was apprehensive as a mature student surrounded by younger peers. Yet, this time, I thrived. The hands-on learning and supportive environment suited me perfectly, and I graduated with flying colours. This experience ignited a passion for working with children, leading me through roles in childcare and eventually into the rewarding field of educational assistance.

Life threw me another curveball with chronic illness, a challenge that tested me. Yet, from this struggle emerged unexpected opportunities. Exploring alternative healing modalities like Reiki not only provided solace during tough times but also unexpectedly blossomed into a successful online venture. My Etsy shop for distant energy healing became a surprising hit, affirming that sometimes, our greatest successes arise from our deepest struggles.

Another personal struggle, the difficulty of conceiving, led me to a profound realization: my calling to support others through the journey of childbirth. Becoming a doula was a natural extension of my nurturing spirit, allowing me to provide invaluable support to women during one of life’s most transformative experiences.

Reflecting on my journey, I realize that each perceived failure was merely a stepping stone towards discovering my true passions and strengths. The twists and turns of life have led me to where I am today — not with a conventional success story, but with a deeply fulfilling path where I am making a difference in the lives of others.

Through my experiences, I’ve learned invaluable lessons:
