I think one of my favorite genre of Gideon fanart is ‘hey remember that everyone thought Gideon was scary in GtN??? Here is why!’

Because like. Gideon is Scary. We might see all that sad gooey center but Gideon has always been a war machine waiting for her time in the sun. It only takes her, what ? Maybe weeks or a couple months to be one of the best cavalier’s at Canaan? She defeated Magnus in three moves in her robes and weapons she’s unfamiliar with! ( Yes I know Magnus isn’t the best cavalier but the man still had more training than she had at that point) Even though she lost her training match with Naberius Tern it’s even stated that in a real fight she would have won.

I love Gideon to pieces and I really want more love to her darker side: Gideon ‘I love only my sword and boobs’ Nav is the exact same Gideon that almost choked Harrow out at age eleven and later murdered Crux.

literally the easiest way to make someone care about a character and make them feel well-rounded beyond basic traits like personality, sexuality, ethnicity, etc, is to give them an actual character arc, and it’s shocking how many people do not seem to fully realize this

you cannot just cram a bunch of tropes. tropes are not the main event, they are tools to tell the story you wish to tell. emotional impact comes from the lead up, so you can’t just jump ahead and expect the payoff to work. “I want this character to just ___ already!” but they’re not there yet. that’s where the arc comes in - how do they get there?

and! most importantly, and this is something I really want people to think about when writing - the most important relationship your character should have, always, is with the world and society around them. defining your character purely through their interactions with other characters are, I find, how a lot of female characters end up feeling flat or not engaging with the themes as much as the male characters, and also how queer and non-white characters wind up as devices for other characters’ development instead of being more fleshed out

Byler is a slow burn y’all!

While it’s possible milkvan could break up in early s5, or maybe they consider their fallout in s4 their breakup and are only now addressing it and how they’ve realized they’ve been better off as friends over the last year, it’s still gonna take some time for byler to confront everything over the last few years and both get to a point where they have clarity about their own feelings and finally accept that the other one feels the same.

I don’t think there’s enough time to explore all of that before Mike and El have that talk on the roof, or even shortly after that, even if it’s post-time jump.

It will still be interesting to see where Mike and Will are at in their relationship by the time the time jump rolls around.

It’s unlikely the painting will have been addressed without us witnessing it, unless they decide to throw in a flashback at some point if it happened during the time jump.

Which means there is still a lot they need to talk about, let alone for them be literally dating.

I think it’s also possible Will won’t know Mike and El are over for real, not until Mike or El tell him and the others.

What this might result in is an episode or two of Mike pining for Will (single 😁) while Will is none the wiser and maybe even trying to keep his distance, now under the assumption that Mike wants space to be alone with El since they’ve finally reconciled once and for all.

There’s gonna need to be episodes exploring their dynamic as friends that can be something more if they want to be and how they navigate that and how obvious it is that, in contrast to Mike and El, while they are indeed friends, they work even better as being something more too.

They’ve invested the entire series to building this up, in a way that most of the audience missed. They need to spend some time now making it obvious so that people can rewatch a lot of their scenes for what they truly are (romantic) now that they know the truth, as opposed to just being ambushed with them being together.

I need people that didn’t even want it to happen to have to endure the tension all season long, to the point where they’re screaming at their screen JUST KISS ALREADY! GET IT OVER WITH! JESUS CHRIST!

i think the thing to understand abt martha jones is that even after she leaves she is five seconds away from dropping everything and traveling with the doctor at any given time. bc that itch to blow everything up and damn her personal duty to hell in search of a higher call never leaves her. but martha is smart. and rational. and has spent a long fucking time needing to keep herself safe. (bc he comes when she calls but never before.) and so she has gotten very good at keeping herself on the right side of those five seconds. but i do think if ten was a different person (if he could acknowledge how much he needed her instead of just how much he liked her) (if he didn’t feel this righteous martyrdom when it comes to being left alone) (if he cared enough about her to beg. if he cared enough about himself.) i think that her answer no would come crumbling down pretty quickly is all.

Getting into bridgerton late means finding out people's rancid takes on my beautiful woman Kate 2 years later and being left baffled and peeved. The way people miss the point of her character completely and dismiss everything she has done and sacrificed makes me want to scream.

Mistakes are part of what makes a character interesting, their baggage that held them back and then their growth after finally learning to let it go. Reverse hot take: Harrow and Crux's relationship?

Oh this is a fun one. I love me some weird caring paternal units in fiction. I don’t have many coherent thoughts so bear with me.

On the surface he’s kind of just this crusty old punching bag who should be fun to hate, but then you get this snippet into their past in HtN and its suddenly oooh. Like yes, he is a rotting old man corpse, but hes a rotting old man corpse with a heart, and that heart belongs to the poor little meow meow Harrowhark Nonagesimus.

it gives depth to both their characters.

He’s sort of like Marcus from Arcane, he’s there, you don’t have any love or notice for him, but if you revisit the story again and give more time to it, he has to catch your attention. They’re both characters who read very strongly as “I’ll do anything for my daughter”, even at the expense of others.

Harrow and him at a certain point in their lives had only each other to care about, maybe not healthy or wholesomey and with a very strange dynamic as he was both her keeper and her inferior, but still. They had a very tight orbit. I do think he saw her a bit as his child and that this paternal feeling had to be reckoned with also a reverent feeling. Where as Priamhark saw her as a sin for which he was damned, Crux saw her as a miracle to whom he was indebted. He saw her as a living being, and played a large part of taking care of Harrow, lemon water when she was sick, being a confident, confirming reality from hallucinations both draw weirdly on the heart strings. He was a fraction of Something she desperately needed, I don’t think there would be either a Harrow or Ninth house without him being the child puppeteer’s parental-apprentice. I do hope those sweeter memories arnt post lobotomy write overs and actual memories. It will be interesting to see how she reacts to his death in AtN. It would show quite a lot of growth for her to be able to directly grieve someone and actually accept someone dying, instead of trying to hold on to whatever scraps she can manage. (Gideons soul, her parents bodies)

Harrow has seen everyone who should love her/she loves, show love by dying for it, often in front of her own eyes. Going back to what you said about Paul taking place allowing for griddlehark to remain separate entities for foil reasons, I think that Crux might provide a minor foil along with her parents to Gideon/Kiriona being allowed to show love for Harrow by “living” (..or at least existing since Jod + Fence =Mega Dead Walking Talking Corpse Prince Hours. )

Here’s the thing I need people to understand:

Even if we believe that the (entirely unproven and far too politically convenient) pre-contract story between Edward IV and Eleanor Talbot was true, it doesn’t actually matter. Even if it was hypothetically true, there was still no reason why Edward V – who was already King at that point and was referred to as such – couldn’t have been able to succeed his father regardless.

David Horspool (Richard's own historian) summarizes it better than I could, so I’m just quoting him here:

"[Richard also made] no allowance for any potential solution to the problem that might have re-legitimized Edward V and his siblings. These included securing a retrospective canonical or papal judgement of the invalidity of the pre-contract; an Act of Parliament legitimizing the children of Edward and Elizabeth Woodville’s marriage, as happened to Henry VIII’s variously tainted offspring; or even ignoring the issue and proceeding to the coronation of Edward V, which would legitimize him by making him the Lord’s anointed, and render allegations of his bastardy as newer versions of the old tittle-tattle about his father."

In short, even if Edward IV truly had a pre-contract with Eleanor Talbot, and even if all of his children with Elizabeth Woodville were supposedly illegitimate, it should by no means prevent Edward V from succeeding his father to the throne. If Richard truly wanted to support his nephew, he had a variety of useful and entirely workeable options to choose from. Instead, he officially declared his nieces and nephews (including a literal 3-year-old) illegitimate, kept Edward V and his even younger brother confined in the Tower of London, and declared himself King.

Why didn't Richard take these actions, all of which he would have been well aware of? As Horspool says simply: "that Richard took none of these courses was because he had no interest in doing so."

The ONLY conclusion we can come to based on Richard's actions is summarized most succinctly by A.J Pollard:

"The truth of the matter is that Richard III did not want Edward V to be legitimate because he did not want him to be king."
