I’m so nervous with who they’re gonna cast to play the boys. Especially John and Paul. I can’t think of ONE Beatle movie or biopic that did a good casting job. They never look even slightly similar to any of them and it pisses me off. If you were up to you, who would you cast for John and Paul specifically?
Hiya anon, thank you for asking me!
First of all let's look at them (argh! perfect)
Tumblr media
To be honest, we are pretty much the same, I was super excited hearing the news, but now I am so scared to be disappointed by it. I have a feeling they will cast actors that are lesser known. That is, if they are planning to show the early days of the Beatles, John and Paul meeting. As someone who is not that really into movies as of late, I don't think my palate is large enough to know actors.
And it is so hard to pick someone because how could anybody ever be like John Lennon or Paul Mccartney. It's even harder to pick someone for Paul who is just so beautiful for a man. Maybe it would be really good to pick an actress to play Paul afterall (kidding, kidding).
Disclaimer: (I couldn't find a single actor with beautiful doe eyes and lips and a perfect nose for Paul.. I'm sorry!)
Ok here are some actors that made me go "hmmm" (feel free to add your comments on them... or any suggestions ;)
Jacob Elordi - as John or as Paul ... I don't really know to be honest - but I love his acting and his looks. He did a great job as Elvis Presley in Priscilla too and did you guys see his androgynous photoshoot?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Timothee Chalamet (who plays Bob but ?? maybe if he can skip out being George Harrison's boyfriend) - for John - strong brows - curly hair - jaw - I can kinda see it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blake Richardson who plays Paul Mccartney in Midas Man (with better hair) - his eyebrows and nose are really kinda similar to Paul's
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oliver Jackson Cohen (left - as John), Ezra Miller (right - as Paul)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cole Sprouse (for Paul) - please don't torch me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Paul Mescal (for John)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
.
.
.
Maybe I'll just rewatch AHDN over and over. Nothing beats the original for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Would love to hear back <3

CONTRARY TO PUBLISHED REVIEWS…
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” (aka Aquaman2) is getting bashed by movie critics. I’ve always thought critics were far too easy on the Marvel movies, and excessively negative with DC movies. That’s the case here. I’ve been suffering from Comic book Movie Fatigue (both Marvel and DC) but I can honestly say, I enjoyed Aquaman 2.
I think if you liked the first one, you’ll like the sequel. If you didn’t, you won’t.
I wasn’t too excited when I heard Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was returning as the villain Black Manta. The character was lame the first time but there was a little improvement this time around. (But he ultimately comes across stupid).
But the core of the movie was about Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and his half brother Orm (Patrick Wilson). In the first film, Orm was a villain but showed signs of redemption at the end. This movie continues his story arc, as Orm is forced to buddy-up with Aquaman to try and save the world. The bro-bonding is frequently played for laughs but I thought it worked. And the humor worked within the context of the larger story (unlike Thor Love and Thunder which was tonally a mess).
Fan of that actor accused of beating his wife had campaigned to get Amber Heard fired from the sequel. I liked Heard as Mera (although her hair color is a little strange). Mera played an important role in the story. Good for her.
In an early trailer some of the effects looked bad but I didn’t see any problem in the actual film. Atlantis looks great as in the first movie.
I especially liked Aquaman’s two undersea friends who were added to the cast: Storm, the giant seahorse that Aquaman rides into battle; and Topo the octopus but in this case, not just a name but also a designation: "He's a Tactical Observation and Pursuit Operative”.
While the DCEU had problems under director/producer Zack Snyder dark vision, I think both Wonder Woman films and both Aquaman films are worthy additions to the genre. (And for what it’s worth, I also liked Ezra Miller’s Flash movie.)

“Ezra Miller has been hit with a fresh restraining order over claims the star rubbed up against a non-binary 12 year-old and threatened the youngster's mom with a gun after accusing her of cultural appropriation.
Miller, 29, who identifies as queer and uses they/them pronouns, faces a temporary harassment prevention order from the unidentified Massachusetts child and their mother over alleged inappropriate behavior.
Miller is said to have turned up to see the child and their mom in a bulletproof vest, and berated the mom for using the word 'tribe' to describe her friendship group, claiming it was an example of cultural appropriation.
The actor - whose current whereabouts are unknown - also took exception to them playing the board game Parcheesi and said it was steeped in Rastafarian culture.
Grilled by a Rastafarian woman present for further information, Miller is said to have opened up a piece of clothing to reveal a weapon before issuing a chilling threat.
The actor is further said to have pressed up against the non-binary child and even offered to buy horses so the youngster could visit Miller's ranch in Vermont, spooking the child's relatives.
Throughout the encounter, Miller is said to have had dilated pupils, leading to suspicions that the performer was under the influence of booze or drugs.
The latest drama also comes amid accusations Miller 'groomed' and then 'brainwashed' a now 18-year-old from South Dakota. It appears they expressed at the very least odd behavior toward the 12-year-old, including a promise to buy them several horses.
'They automatically were just weirdly drawn to me and kept talking about how they love my outfit and love my style, and kept going on and on about how it was great,' the child said. 'It was really uncomfortable. I was really nervous. I was scared to be around them after he'd yelled at my mother and she was crying.'
Miller then apologized but continued to bother the family in the months that followed, as recently as June 4 when they showed up dressed as a cowboy.
On multiple occasions, Miller made the 12-year-old uncomfortable, including the promise to purchase a horse for them, but also by hugging and pressing their body closely against them.
The actor also allegedly tried to get into bed with Tokata Iron Eyes – a member of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe – during a trip to London when she was just 14, we can also reveal.
Anguished mother Dr. Sara Jumping Eagle said she and lawyer husband Chase Iron Eyes now have 'no idea' where 18-year-old Tokata is – after lodging legal papers for a protection order against Miller, 29, on behalf of their activist daughter.
The mom says she last saw Tokata in Santa Monica on May 29 in a harrowing street encounter after she and Chase flew from their home in North Dakota following a tip that the teen was in California with the Flash star.
Miller and Tokata jumped in a taxi after being confronted and sped off, she said.
Unable to hold back tears, Sara told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview: 'I would say to her now what I said to her then as she was going down the road away from me.
'I love you and that I want you to be safe.'
Sara, a pediatrician, faltered before continuing: 'I would also say, you don't deserve to be in a toxic relationship where you are not being protected’
'You are beautiful and amazing. You are a shining light. You should just be allowed to be yourself.'
She said Tokata was like a 'zombie' and 'very, very thin' when she last saw her.
Chase, 44, and Sara have lodged legal papers in the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Court in North Dakota, which contain startling allegations against the troubled star. A hearing is set for next month.
The parents claim in a lawsuit that the actor plied their underage daughter with drugs including LSD and disrupted her Massachusetts private schooling to such an extent that she dropped out from Bard College at Simon's Rock in December.
When they flew to Miller's home in Stamford, Vermont, in January to retrieve Tokata, they allegedly found bruises on her body and she no longer had a driver license, car keys or a bank card.
And when the teenager was returned to her parents' home, she fled again to New York to reunite with Miller and they have since allegedly been traveling together to Vermont, Hawaii and Los Angeles.
Mom Sara told DailyMail.com: 'During this entire time since then we have only been able to talk to Tokata three times, on the phone.
'Two of those times Ezra interrupted and I could also hear him in the background – so we weren't able to freely have a discussion.
'Ezra has control over Tokata's Instagram account, which is really the only way I have been able to send her messages. She barely replied, and sometimes I couldn't tell if it was Tokata or Ezra replying.
'Ezra was isolating Tokata from family and friends. And then brainwashing her. She is still with him. I don't know where. When I tried to talk to her they jumped in a car and took off. We have no idea of their location.
'I am fearing for her safety.’
The lawsuit is the latest legal case involving the star, who was arrested in Hawaii in April for allegedly throwing a chair at a woman's head after refusing to leave her home, weeks after another arrest for spitting in someone's face in a bar during a game of darts.
The most serious allegations over Tokata by Chase, a former Democratic House candidate for North Dakota, and his wife, can be revealed in detail for the first time by DailyMail.com.
They begin their lawsuit saying Miller is 'currently physically and emotionally abusing Tokata Iron Eyes (18), psychologically manipulating, physically intimidating and endangering' her safety and welfare.
This is 'while perpetuating intimate partner violence upon' their daughter 'after having groomed Tokata since 2016 when she was 12 years old.'
They also alleged Miller 'uses violence, intimidation, threat of violence, fear, paranoia, delusions, and drugs to hold sway over a young adolescent Tokata'.
The star 'established contact with Tokata Iron Eyes under the pretense' of helping the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe during a movement to stop an underground oil pipeline in 2016,' they say.
Miller, who identifies as non-binary and queer and uses the pronouns they/them, would likely have been filming Justice League at the time, where one of the sets was located in Illinois.
He took 'an immediate and apparently innocent liking' to Tokata and 'began to formulate relations,' the papers continue.
The star flew her with other Standing Rock tribal members to London to tour the Harry Potter movie studio in December 2017 – when they 'attempted to sleep in the same bed at Tokata, who was 14 years old at the time. Miller was 25 years old at the time,' her parents' lawsuit alleges. Miller had appeared in the 2016 Potter spin-off movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
'Ezra was prevented from sleeping in the same bed with Tokata at that time by a chaperone who can attest to this as the witness lives on the Standing Rock reservation… Tokata's parents learned of this episode in June 2022.
'Tokata had read all the available Harry Potter books and was/is enamored by the fantasy/celebrity of Ezra Miller at all times during her still formative years as a young adolescent. Ezra has recently and violently abused Tokata's vulnerability and trust,' Chase and Sara say.
Sara accused Miller of being a danger not only to her daughter, but other young women.
'We feel that Ezra keeps being allowed to hurt people, has no accountability. We are concerned for our daughter's safety as his behavior keeps escalating. And that our daughter is there while the behavior is escalating,' she said.
'It is clear from more people we talk to that Ezra is targeting vulnerable young women. It seems that the pattern is to move on to the next one, but some of these women keep coming back, even though they have been at least emotionally abused.'”

I dont know about you but recently I just saw someone here on tumblr using the Tenoch Huerta tagged doing the whole "you people should believe all victims because now there are mutiple woman accusing him. But you will defend white people like Ezra Miller"
Bffr.
Having you not been keeping pace and pretending to be ignorant. Many people on tumblr have been showing evidence that Elena isn't a victim, that all her so called "acts for women rights" is just her wanting political power, how she is light skin Latina who follows political that are anti-LGBT and trans. DOESN'T ANY OF THAT SCREAM 🚩
But know I bet you the who posted that isn’t keeping up with Mexcian news or how many people from MEXICO are admitting they thave either been threatened or assaulted by Elena or her family. Or better yet any document evidence against Elena that show poof she is a feminist. Even the other actress and feminist aren't clean one of them refined a man's life after convincing another actress she was SA or how the other feminist is a FRIEND of Elena which would've been fine since friend supporting friend if Elena didn't had such a dark history.
And I'll tell you this much. When this SA allegations came up I was on Elena side, however knowing Tenoch slander history I did found it suspicious. When more evidence came our that was AGAINST Elena I realized she a victim anymore regardless of her acid attack. Even if the evidence that Elena provide from her anon victims they still falled apart. While yes Tenoch being silence since the allegations is suspicious we don't know what going on on his end but I think when a other females that claim the FEMALE ACTIVIST is threating them, blocking any JOURNALIST who wants more of the story, the company that she is accusing to protect Tenoch providing EVIDENCE that they paid her, and looking beyond the Tenoch situation ND more towards Elena. People need to realize to stopping believing in the victims if there is so much evidence against them.
I think whatvi hate about this situation is that since this event is taking place in Mexico is harder for American media pick up to story unlike stories like Jonathan Majors case or the Johnny Deep case. And even when media picked up the SA allegations they didn't bother to continue their research and then dropping it leaving only the headlines the SA allegation 🙄. When there is so much more to this case that is proving innocence of Tenoch. I think unless there are other Americans who are still keeping up with this story they will know that Tenoch is innocent while Elena is a piece of shit while the majority would see his allegations.
That's a great take on the issue, Anon!
I find it infuriating, but I'm not surprised. In today's time of information overdose, all anyone cares about is the sensational news. So the allegations story made for a nice spicy, juicy piece of gossip, and it spread like wildfire. Coz people love to gossip, oh look at this actor (and racists going to the extent of labeling him as a sexual offender/addict coz he's a brown man 🙄).
Nobody cares about context, nuance, or bothering to do a little bit of research. Coz who will put all that effort! Because if anybody put even the slightest of effort, it is crystal clear who is innocent and who is not in this case. In fact, the more people here and on Twitter are investigating, the more disturbing things are emerging. We can now see there's a group of people who have come together with the sole purpose of destroying Tenoch's reputation and career.
I am a 1000% sure Tenoch is dealing with this just fine on his end. Unfortunately he is used to shit like this, although perhaps not at this scale. But I'm certain he's preparing a legal case, and there was a video posted yesterday wherein a Mexican lawyer covered the legalities of this case. All the evidence is in his favor. It's good he's staying away from social media, it will do no good to his career or his case.
I wish our group here had the means to make all this investigation gain more traction. We are trying our best, so are the folks on Twitter. But I'm also of the opinion that the American media and people have forgotten about it already. The public tends to have short-term memory. Do journalists care about clearing a man's name they very conveniently labelled as guilty? Of course not 🙄 most journalism is trash these days, barring few.

Ok I'll be saying this, and damn it all.
Not watching The Flash because of Ezra Miller is a childish, sjw-ish, anti behavior.
This is NOT Miller's personal movie. Miller is just ONE actor within this project. Miller is ONE cog (a big and important, yet just ONE) in this machine. By boycotting a project, that involves hundreds if not more talents, screenwriters, producers, actors, directors, tech people, music people, visuals people, costume people, ART PEOPLE, you are spitting in the face of a whole workforce, that whole its crime was to sign a contract on a project along one other person who turned out to be a No Good Guy.
Whatever Miller did, doing and will do, should not ever be a stain over people, ESPECIALLY ARTISTS, who chance would have them working on the same project with them. That is not OK. That is not anywhere along the lines of justice. This is cruel.
This is a "FeelGood" behavior for consumers. A trendy action with zero significance and 100% bad taste.
The production and management did all they can to minimize Miller's upfollowed involvement in the press releases and commercials and interviews for the movie. What you can do is respect the efforts of the crew that worked on the project. The actors who put their best in it. The writers.
Whatever will be of This One Person is up for the courts to decide. If there is a rehabilitation, a sentence a jail time - it's not up to any of the audience to decide. It is not the case for the guillotine.
This movie is not a product of one person, not Miller's personal message to the world, not a cult leader's manifesto. The movie is not a hate crime, not a propaganda created by one Ezra Miller. It's not theirs.
It's a superhero movie, in which Miller stars as an actor.
If Jews can listen AND ENJOY Wagner's music so you can put your big boy pants on and watch THIS movie.
And if YOU personally don't like superheros, and won't be watching it, that's fine.
And if YOU personally don't like the character and not interested in Flash, and won't be watching it, that's fine.
But if you want to watch it, but won't because of ONE actor? You are doing a great disservice to the filmmakers, the other actors and to yourself.
Think about it.

The Flash Review 2023 / Let Me Say
Never done a review on a movie before on here but here’s mine.
So the The Flash has been in development hell for decades, multiple directors delays. Set backs and other things. Was supposed to come out in 2018 but didn’t. Multiple, controversies and reshoots.
Firstly, Ezra Miller before their controversy I’ll admit I’ve had a crush on them. Especially, when I saw them in Fantastic Beasts as Credence Barebone/Aurelius Dumbledore and then when I saw them as Barry Allen in The Justice League. I was absolutely in love.
I was a middle school teenager around, 14. and was mostly crushing on fictional characters and reading Killing Stalking. I still continued to crush on their characters and the actor themselves, and I still do on the characters not the actor..
don’t get me wrong I love some of Ezra’s work which is fine in my opinion. I’ve really only seen them in, Fantastic Beasts and The Flash. I haven’t seen Perks of Being a Wallflower yet which I’ll definitely watch eventually.
I understand, not wanting to see The Flash because of their controversy and the things they’ve done.
But… I will say that his performance as Barry Allen. Is very enjoyable and funny and goofy, what I expect from a character like the Flash. I mostly grew up liking Batman but Ezra’s Flash I immediately fell in love with I’m the past movies
Again, I understand not wanting to see the film because of Ezra. Which is totally up to you even I was skeptical of seeing it. But I went with my gut and decided to see a film I’ve been excited about since I was like 15 years old.
Actually Talking about the Movie Now
SPOILERS
So, I waited five years for this and the opening was great the first act amazing. I love that he needs to basically eat food or he basically isn’t at full strength. That aspect I love. The CGI…
The CGI babies reminded me of Renesmee, and the director said it’s because we’re seeing it from Flash’s perspective and since he’s fast. He sees things differently and it’s distorted. Him saving, the babies from the hospital goofy as fuck..
But I couldn’t stop laughing.. Elephant in the room, him putting the baby into the microwave.. I audible laughed in theater and was “like no fucking way he just put dat baby in a microwave, like it’s a some breakfast burrito.” the guy next to me laughed when I said that
when he went for the vending machine instead of the baby.. I laughed the dog slowly falling I laughed. I love the interactions between Bruce and Barry, Barry and Iris left more to be desired honestly. Since last we saw her was in a slow mo in Snyder Cut. (which also was pretty decent but could’ve been shorter if not for the slow mo)
Flash is knocked into the next dimension by evil lookin dude
in all a or one gets a 7/10
Act Two.. Eric Stoltz is Marty Mcfly
Barry going back in time was cool, I loved how they interpreted him going back in time. That was cool seeing all the things that happened was amazing.
Young Barry, is fucking annoying but honestly he stole my heart. Like legit he’s goofy as fuck and honestly I’d probs have a crush on him if I went to the same school as him. His introduction is hilarious, and how Future!Barry tackled him to the ground I laughed. Past!Barry life though is just….
Their interactions were just goofy and hilarious, and also they honestly kinda had that older brother and little brother thing going on in my opinion. Which also added to me liking their interactions and little quips.
Barry, losing his powers and just doing that goofy run everyone dunks on is just hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing. Also, I had no idea who the fuck Eric Stoltz was.. and I was like Barry really just ruined back to the future by going back in time.
Also, even tho I hate Aquaman the fact he’s a dog in this universe. Omg..
Also the younger flash had me cracking up more.. the scene when he ran back into the apartment naked with a music instrument covering his parts. And slowly shuffled away I laughed.
seeing Micheal Keaton, I was so happy cause I absolutely adore Tim Burton’s Batman films. Especially, the sequel I love Catwoman in that one Omg!
Seeing him again, firstly as a disheveled man with th Gandalf beard I was like yo did batman? But seeing him in da suit. Brought back memories.. watching it for the first time on dvd when my mom bought it while at Walmart for me.
Kara, she was good I prefer her over Superman. Cause, gonna say it now.. I didn’t like Man of Steel. It was boring and I didn’t understand it cause of the constant flashbacks it got confusing. For little me.
But Amy Adams was in it so.. I was like ooh Giselle.
But I did get excited seeing Zod, idk why again I didn’t enjoy Man of Steel. But my stupid little ass liked Justice League it’s a guilty pleasure now but I was 14 when it came out soo. But I’m not surprised cause I also liked Batman V Superman and the Suicide Squad not The Suicide Squad (2021) < this one I love the first one no
Back to the Flash, I wish she was in the movie longer tho. When Barry saved her in the Russian base.. and said I got you and she repeated it back to him.. my heart..
also phasing the molecule scene I was like ‘He’s molecules got all rearrange’
6.5/10
Act Three…. zod kills babies now also bat nipples
so…we find out what happened to baby Superman.. Zod killed him when trying to find the key to remake Krypton.. yeah.. fuk Zod.
them preparing for battle was cool to watch but this act, also was the slowest. my mind started to wonder off about flash fanfiction I’ve read (on ezra’s flash before the controversy might I add).. then I went back to the movie.
so.. everything goes to shit real fast Batman dies. Kara dies. And both Barry try to fix it. and eventually older Barry realizes they can’t.
but the younger one who hasn’t seen lost, and is immature. Keeps trying, and I love how his suit gets darker and darker each time he travels back more and more sharp stuff starts appearing and eventually it’s revealed the guy that kicked flash at the beginning is Dark Flash.
which I figured out once I saw the stuff appearing on, younger flash. I’m all younger flash dies and dark flash ceases to exist.
Barry goes back and quickly disguised himself, and takes the cam of tomatoes his past self put in back onto the shelf not before having one last conversation with his mom. And I honestly teared up a bit. It was so sweet seeing him finally get to say goodbye to his mom.
and her giving him a hug. a twinge of me though she realized it was her son but she didn’t. And it was sweet.
the movie ends with his dad getting acquitted, and a hunted date for Barry and Iris and then fucking George Clooney is revealed as Bruce Wayne but he isn’t
also during one scene we see multiple versions of the Flash and Superman’s, we see the og and the one our parents most likely grew up on which I know has a lot of controversy. We see Adam West Batman. And Nicholas Cage Superman!!
omg I new from the way it looked it was him.
I’d give this act a 4.5/10 was slow
i guess im total the film is a B- it isn’t great but it’s good.
Ezra as the flash is great, i haven’t really gotten into the CW flash show I tried to but I wasn’t feeling it like I was with Gotham.
But from a cinematic stand point, I love Ezra Miller as The Flash. Despite, their controversy their version of the Flash/Barry as honeslty meant a lot to be growing up especially since I’d just moved across the state again from
Washington state to NC leaving behind my friends and a house I loved which I had a little place under the stairs. And my own living room. but since we moved I have none of that no place under the stairs for me to escape to when my adopted siblings get on my nerves.
i have a room but the loft is right next to it, and whenever they’re being loud I can hear it full volume and I wished I had a place under the stairs again.
Yes, Ezra Miller deserves to pay for the actions they’ve done spend some time in jail (even). And not get off with the slap on the wrist. I’m happy they’ve said that they’re getting help I applauded that but I’m still upset by the things they’ve been accused up especially for someone who enjoys the things they’ve been in.
But, I didn’t let that destroy my enjoyment of the film and seeing Barry again I couldn’t be even more happier and honestly my 14 year old self in me was still crushing on Barry disassociating him from the actor that portrays him.
In all..
Ezra Miller, should be held accountable of their actions and spend some jail time. Stay away from the camera a bit and get the help they need, and then and only then we’ll see what happens. Honestly idk this is my mind set I’m sometimes a very forgiving person depending on the circumstances.
I’m a fan of Ezra’s work that won’t change.. since he’s impacted my young teenage years for being in Fantastic Beasts heck I still have the Credence Barebone Lego dimensions thing. And then being as the Flash..
But as of now.. I’m absolutely heartbroken by the things they’ve done.
[I won’t turn off comments on this I will delete any hate towards me or anyone else if needed]

Chalamet, who King says was his only choice for the role of Willy Wonka (it was reported that Warner Bros. also looked at Donald Glover, Ryan Gosling, and Ezra Miller before Chalamet was cast in 2021), didn’t audition. King did double check to make sure the actor could sing and dance.
“It was a straight offer because he’s great and he was the only person in my mind who could do it,” King says. “But because he’s Timothée Chalamet and his life is so absurd, his high school musical performances are on YouTube and have hundreds of thousands of views. So I knew from stanning for Timmy Chalamet that he could sing and dance really well. And I knew that was in his arsenal, but I didn’t know how good he was. When I spoke to him he was quite keen. He’d done tap dancing in high school and he was like, ‘I’d quite like to show people I can do that.’”

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Speedy Acquaye, Hirohiko Araki, the 1969 debut of Blind Faith, Beryl Booker, Gwendolyn Brooks, Royce Campbell (Funk Brothers), THE JOHNNY CASH SHOW 1969 TV debut, Georgiana Cavendish, the great Johnny Clegg, Silas Roy Crain (Soul Stirrers), George Ezra, Tal Farlow, William Forsythe, Gordon Gano, Paul Gauguin, Nikki Giovanni, Juan Luis Guerra, Damien Hirst, Nihad Hrustanbegović, Tommy James & The Shondells 1969 “Crystal Blue Persuason” single, Mickey Jones (Man), Tom Jones (great to have met you), Paddy McAloon (Prefab Sprout), Dave Navarro, Liam Neeson, Ken Osmond, Prince, Jack Ryland (3 Dog Night), George Szell, Jessica Tandy, Karl Urban, Clarence White, and the legendary, consummate entertainer, comedian, singer, and actor, Dean Martin. In the late 1940s he broke out in a hugely successful comedy duo with Jerry Lewis, then was seared into public conciousness with Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. in The Rat Pack. My respect for Dino grew around his musical choices and catalogue of material. I do several covers of his songs (especially in my care home set) and my original song “Somebody Loves You (Like Dino Said)” has a direct refraction on Dean’s “You’re Nobody Till Somebody Loves You.” In 1955 he had a #1 hit with the folk-doo wop song “Memories Are Made of This.” It became a theme for a book written by his daughter Deana, a singer in her own right whose career intersected with The Monkees and Davy Jones (they also dated back in the day), and there was a phase where she’d sit in on our gigs + she sang with us at Davy’s 2012 New York memorial and a Monkees Convention in 2013. Davy was also close friends with Dino Martin (of Dino Desi & Billy), and when they weren’t driving old army tanks around in the desert, they played pool with Dean at Dean’s home. Davy was quite a comedy quipster, and he often said, “It’s OK to steal my jokes. I just stole them from someone else.” One of his “someone else” sources was Dean Martin.
“Memories Are Made of This” was written by Richard Dehr, Terry Gilkyson, and Frank Miller—as The Easy Riders, they provided the vocal harmonies on Dean’s version. After the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, the song was adapted into the "Honvágy-dal" ('The Song of Homesickness”) and used as an unofficial anthem for refugees scattered around the world. Recorded by Ida Boros, it became a cultural phenomenon and a sign of protest against the communist government. The standard English version has been covered countless times (notably by Little Richard, Johnny Cash, and Cliff Richard & The Shadows), and here’s how I do it in my assisted living home set. You know what?
Screw that movie. Screw that movie series and screw those money guys in suits who made me lose interest in said series as a whole ever since 2016 (with one or three notable exceptions)
On the day that movie is released, I’ll be instead comfortably watching Godzilla vs Kong or even Mask of the Phantasm instead
Actual Good Stuff instead of trash starting both an overrated tired as hell man and legit sex offender
I'll probably watch the Flash after it comes to my library, just for the Ben Affleck stuff, because otherwise, I don't really wanna look at Ezra Miller
But sadly it has the last thing to do with Batman that I have any interest in. So my natural curiosity forces me to at least keep an eye on it
Also Michael Keaton is great, I wouldn't call the "man" overrated. He's one of my favorite actors.
His Batman is just helliciously overrated just because it was people's childhood lmao But a lot of that is also in the writing and directing, 'cause those movies in general are overrated. I like them, don't get me wrong, I still watch them. People are just unreasonable about how great they are personally.

It's really funny to me and a little endearing to me to hear when on numerous occasions, actors use 'I, me, my' when talking but referring to their character, as though they actually are the character.
Case in point:
Ezra Miller and Eddie Redmayne compliment-battling each other Eddie (reading a twitter post): Ezra Miller (from Luna) is God's gift to humanity. Ezra: 🥰🥰🥰 ...Luna Lovegood? Eddie: Hmm! Might be. . My great grand-daughter in law.

Top 5 Worst Films of 2023
Yep, it's that time of year again where you're all subjected to wordier opinions of the films I either disliked or were indifferent to! I'll post the best list later on, but for now, here are the worst...
5. Mercy Falls
Tumblr media
I appreciate British films being shown in cinemas. I appreciate this cost about £20 and a speck of dust to make. However, it’s incredibly dull and predictable. There isn’t much else to say about it.
4. The Flash
Tumblr media
Only this low because I expected it to be this bad. The literal ‘worlds collide’ montage at the end was a great idea, but the waxy CGI reconstructions of Superman actors, living or dead, left a bad taste in my mouth. Ezra Miller’s laugh was annoying, and Sasha Calle and Michael Shannon were absolutely wasted.
3. Five Nights At Freddy's
Tumblr media
How the fuck did Scott Cawthon fuck his own premise up? It should have been a simple bottle film that cost $10m at most. One guy. One room. Dodgy animatronics. Instead, we’ve got a protagonist who I wanted the animatronics to kill, sudden genre switches, subplots galore, and weird character decisions. The worst thing about it is that it didn’t even include the famous Toreador March. That would have improved the film somewhat.
2. Fast X
Tumblr media
I saw it for a charity drive and I wish I’d doubled the target. This was physically painful to sit through. This hasn’t lodged from the no. 2 spot since I saw it back in May. I fully believe Daniela Melchior was tricked into doing this – she probably thought she was auditioning for a legitimate film. Jason Momoa apparently chose this film to actually act, and carried it the whole way through. Good thing he’s built as all get-out.
Honourable Mentions
Love Again: The best bits were Nick Jonas’s cameo and the sweet and funny montage over the end credits. Everything else is naff.
Assassin Club: This not having a Wiki page was probably the best way to insult it – arguably the best way to insult any film. Daniela Melchior had a terrible year. Hope 2024 is better for her.
Unwelcome: Completely forgot this existed, to be honest. Should tell you all you need to know.
And finally, the worst thing I saw this year...
1. A Good Person
Tumblr media
This earned the great dishonour of not just being the worst thing I saw this year, but the worst thing I’ve seen in a long time. Old was bad, but it had the cave scene. Burning was terrible, but it had gorgeous cinematography. Shit, even the 365 Days films were bad, but they were at least easy to laugh at. Zach “Can’t Accept That Scrubs Ended Thirteen Years Ago” Braff’s latest effort A Good Person does not have a single redeeming thing about it. Not even the usually-reliable Florence Pugh could save it. Much like Fast X, this has not lodged from this spot since I saw it. It’s the first film to reach the “coveted” 0.25/5 rating on here, too. In East Asian languages such as Cantonese, the number four is closely associated with death. This is Braff’s fourth go at directing, and it bombed. I pray that it kills his career.
Thanks for reading! Best post coming soon.
~Mikey

I think Thor himself said that too “The Avengers are really good friends but the Guardians are a family” I love the Avengers too, it’s just like you said: the guardians have a special place in our hearts
“That's why even though they did get a good ending where nobody died, I both love and hate the fact that they split up at the end.” SAMEEEE! I wanted them to stay together forever 🥺
That’s what I thought too! To see how they built their world, how do they manage their relationships and everything. And they are so smart too, I mean they could communicate with Peter really fast even tho, they looked like they never ever saw anyone from outside their world
Right? Even 3 or 4 high schoolers (if I don’t remember it wrong) were beating another 🤔 That wasn’t very peaceful
That’s why I think the actors/actresses did perfect on not wanting to come back after James left, he created something so beautiful that I prefer things stay in that way. But to be honest, if he wants to come back and do something more with the Guardians I would totally watch it lol
And, related but not related? I’m curious about what James’s gonna do on DC now  🤔
Exactly. I always viewed the Avengers as a whole as coworkers. Some were good friends, like Nat and Clint or Thor and Bruce, but it never felt like a family. They saved the world a few times, went on some missions, and then did their own things separately.
Meanwhile, the Guardians were together all of the time after they became a team (that we know, at least.) They lived together on a ship and repeatedly said that they would die for and with each other. The only reason they ever separated (before GotG3) was because of forces much stronger than them, aka Thanos.
After that, they found themselves in different places with different goals and needs, so they decided to grow individually for a while to accomplish those goals. But despite that, there was no conflict like with the Avengers. It was clear to all of them that they still had affection and love for each other, and that they were still a family while being apart.
So while it is sad to see it all end, you're right to say it is something beautifully made. If James Gunn and the actors ever do decide to come back, I would really love to see what they each got up to. How Peter connects with his Grandad and Earth, what Rocket and the new Guardians do, what Nebula and Drax do on Knowhere, and what Mantis and her new pets get up to on their adventures. It would make for a great miniseries.
Same for the humanoid animals, too. While they were made to be perfect, they ended up becoming a lot like humans anyway. I would love to see how they developed their own culture and language while slowly also becoming more like humans and imperfect.
As for James Gunn and DC, I'm also pretty curious as to what he's going to do with it. I think it was kind of weird to get rid of Henry Cavill and not Ezra Miller. Objectively, Cavill's movies and portrayal of Superman were better than what Ezra did with the Flash.
If Cavill doesn't come back, it would be cool to see Tyler Hoechlin come into the main DC universe as Superman instead. From what I've seen, he does a pretty good job. It'd also be cool to see Grant Gustin as the Flash instead of Ezra, though he'd probably be tired of it considering he's been playing it for the past nine years.
Still, James Gunn has a pretty good track record of making great superhero movies. Outside of the Guardians, I liked his work with the Suicide Squad and Brightburn. I have some hope that he'll make DC movies that are at least fun to watch.

If I were Henry Cavill, I would be so fucking mad right now.
For those who don't know, Henry Cavill was cast as Superman in 2016, and while he hasn't been written very well, it's well known that Henry Cavill really liked it, and had the potential to be an amazing Superman.
After the release of Joss-tice League, it was announced that DC would no longer be following the Zack Snyder movies, and so every actor was thrown into doubt if they would return. Eventually, it was just Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck who would be leaving their roles (and Ezra Miller as well, but for entirely different reasons).
So, Henry Cavill threw himself into The Witcher. He's the type of actor who brought the book on set and told the director notes on his character. Again, everyone knew that he was good as Geralt, and he REALLY liked it.
So, it was kind of a shock when Dwayne Johnson convinced both DC and Henry Cavill to have him return as Superman in upcoming movies. This fact made Henry Cavill too busy to continue work on The Witcher, so he announced he was leaving and was quickly replaced by Liam Hemsworth.
Henry Cavill had to choose between two passion projects, and proved his devotion to playing Superman. It was met with praise from DC fans, and no small amount of outcry from Witcher fans.
So, imagine everyone's surprise when James Gunn was put in charge of the DC cinematic universe, and he decided to completely wipe the slate clean. Or, more specifically, he has axed Henry Cavills return to DC.
I understand the reasoning behind this move. The DC movies we have been getting for the past many years haven't really been particularly great, with only a handful of exceptions. Rather than try to fix what's there, they're just starting over.
But, come on. You're keeping Jason Momoa, and possibly Gal Gadot, as well as several of the spin off characters, such as Harley Quinn and Peacemaker. Why not keep Henry Cavill?
They're still going forward with the Flash movie, and likely using it to launch this new set of movies, since its supposedly based off of the Flashpoint comics, which reset the DC universe. This allows the movies to change to fit the vision of James Gunn more seamlessly, although it will likely confuse some casual movie fans. Multiverse and time travel plots tend to do that.
Just let us keep Henry Cavill as Superman. He can do a great job, don't take him at his worst (written by Zack Snyder) and assume that's it.

I'm actually annoyed at how much I enjoyed The Flash. After years of anticipation for some kind of Flash movie, watching this particular one go through almost every shade of production hell only to top it off with Miller getting embroiled in a string of assault, battery, kidnapping, and peace disturbance charges has been quite an experience.
It's difficult not to sully the movie as a piece of media with a hundred awful extenuating events, after all there is no case for Death of the Author here, Miller and Warner Bros. are very much alive and very much responsible and accountable for all wrongdoings. I deeply hope that Ezra Miller is getting the mental health treatment they need and will find time to openly apologize and make reparations for the widespread harm they have caused in due course. Additionally, WB is not innocent in its contributions to toxic working environments and unfair payment practices to both Writers and Actors. So, please, bear all this in mind during moments of praise dolloped throughout this review.
That being said:
This was way more fun than it should be considering the mess that preceded it.
Ezra Miller is (despite their personal life) incredibly charming and affable in both roles, not to mention still a talented performer who dragged out some real emotion in the final act. Sasha Calle pulls out a measured and organic performance in Supergirl, she is unfortunately burdened with a script and a film that doesn’t deserve her. Keaton, I think, makes me the most sad. After delivering a poignant and deftly crafted Riggan Thomson in Birdman, an actor haunted by the spectre of his superhero past, constantly trying to escape the shadow of the capeshit he spent his life performing in, there is a remarkable lack of awareness from Keaton’s agent and himself in getting back into the Batsuit not once but twice in the span of a few years. That Bat Credit Card was maxed out I guess.
Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen is particularly lovely for the short amount of screen time she has, a real emotional pillar in a silly silly film.
Everyone else was either fine or too completely average to be noticeable.
God, this film looks fucking atrocious. I won’t hear that the speed force scenes VFX were intentional, from top to bottom The Flash looks like a slop of shit, over saturated colours one minute, washed-out Snyder browns and greys the next, and just absolutely inconsistent visual storytelling. Some scenes look okay but not for a film that costs as much as this one, I think there is a stark contrast between intentionally stylized VFX and miscalculated attempts at the aforementioned. There are a couple of really nice practical costumes that basically get sidelined for weirdly clingy green screen abominations.
Okay, comic book asshole hat on now, there was no reason for this to be a half-assed Flashpoint adaptation. As a concept, Flashpoint is not so inaccessible to the general viewing public that you couldn’t just do it fully or not at all. I’m not even sure there is a solid enough reason to not just make The Flashes’ first film just him dealing with his own shit and using Jai Courtney to set up The Rogues as Captain Boomerang. I get that there is a desire to tie up loose ends from the Snyderverse and boot up a new Cinematic Universe at the same time, but it’s so messy that it muddles a really executable Comic Book movie concept.
Ultimately, I think this is where The Flash stumbles the hardest, a promising cast is let down by a film that is so deeply entrenched in the nonsense of a half-baked previous cinematic universe and trying to set one up that doesn’t even exist yet. What a waste. Then to achieve some of the ugliest looking VFX shots in the past decade, all this in a world where Marvel films exist? Truly amazing how hard they fumbled the bag on this.
My biggest hot take is that DC just fundamentally doesn’t get who Barry Allen is. Ezra is great but they play Barry so much closer to how a live-action Wally West Flash, to the point where I don’t get why they gave them Barry at all.
But by far the most filthy thing the film does is a parade of CGI ghouls in a startlingly bad multiversal moment right at the climax of the film. Dragging out the rubbery digital corpses of Adam West and Christopher Reeves is truly abominable and looks so bad, having a weird plasticine Nic Cage Superman when I know he’s the kind of actor who would have been there in a heartbeat to shoot a scene is bizarre AND to leave out two very much ALIVE actors who have catapulted The Flash into mainstream fame, John Wesley Shipp and Grant Gustin, the latter of which just ended a prolific tenure as Barry Allen this past year is unforgivable. Especially when the TV Flash found room for a fun Ezra Miller cameo, to completely ice out Gustin is really awful. But I guess par for the course for a film studio that, is currently actively ignoring fair working conditions for writers and actors, just vaulted a completed Batgirl project starring Brendan Fraser, and has a history of hiring abusers to create projects for them.
What a shame, there’s something special deep in the shit here, something that the audience has been robbed of. Some really fun and inventive moments on display, marred by a deep desire for people to remember Batman exists and used to be fun too. What a waste of everyone’s time and talent.
To be fair, the Looney Tunes moments with young Barry are so joyful and fun that we really just needed the whole film to feel like that.
1.5/5
