The 2025 Fanfic Reading Challenge
Welcome to another year of the Fanfic Reading Challenge (FRC)!
I won't bore you with the history of the challenge, this year, but I will welcome you to check out past posts that do explain some of it, as well as include a brief overview of what, exactly, this challenge is, though it does change year to year. (Essentially you read fics to complete goals and win bragging points and an artsy badge.)
This year is especially different, as I had the extreme pleasure of having @noxsoulmate as a partner in crime in keeping me hostage on track to completing this year's FRC. Another valued member of the mod team is @jandjsalmon and speaks for all of us if you need questions answered!
As for the challenge....
This is, indeed, a challenge. Of course.
First of all... you must obviously read fanfiction. As if you don't already!
You also need to download and make your own copy of the spreadsheet, which can be found here, as well as below in the important links section.
To participate in the challenge, you read fics that match the tasks in the challenge. An example of a task can be: "read a fic with a title containing the word purple in it." Should be easy! Of course, there are harder ones.
Which is why there are different modes of challenge to the FRC. These are as follows:
Participation (Complete 1 task)
Regular Mode (Complete 80 tasks)
Hard Mode (Complete 150 tasks)
Extreme Mode (Complete 220 tasks)
Complete (Complete 250 tasks)
The challenge lasts from January 1st, 2025, to December 31st, 2025.
There are badges that go with the modes completed, and even a secret 6th badge that will be fairly obvious if you look at the spreadsheet! Doesn't mean it'll be easy to complete though. *smirks* (Blame Noxy)
Most important of all: this challenge operates on the honour system. We don't check your work, or your reading logs (see below), so I mean, I guess if you want to be slippery with the rules, you do you, and that's on your conscience, but honestly it's so much fun to see how much you can get done by following the letter of the law/tasks! You can be slippery even with following the tasks fully. It's great fun. ;D
I think that's enough for an intro, really, maybe too much.
Important Links and Reading Logs/Trackers
As there is a component of the FRC that includes tracking numbers of words read, most of us use a reading log/tracker to keep count of how many fics we read, including data such as words, of course, chapters, month completed, ship, author, title, fandom, link to the fic, and such. It's a great place to mark what fics you want to read in the future as well!
This year we have FOUR trackers on offer, quite different from one another, so take a look, play around with them and check out their "intros", and choose according to what you think will work best for you!
Fic Tracking Sheets
Juulna's 2025 Reading Log
Noxy's 2025 Reading Log
2025 Jandy's Fic Tracker
Taru's Fic Tracker 2025
Discord
We have a blast on Discord. From general chatter to sharing pet pics to being there for each other during the tough times to forming lasting friendships and making friendships you’d never make in a ship- or fandom-specific Discord, to asking for help ‘rolling the dice’ (pick a number between 1-10!) to choose the next fic to read, to finding some of the really challenging task fills in fandoms people might not have ever read but are willing to try, or finding fandoms someone has never read and is very tentative about stepping out of their box, but they’re being 100% supported and know they don’t need to complete the fic for it to count for the task, stepping out of their comfort zone… we’ve formed a very odd group of, if not friends, then companions (but there are definite friendships that have formed!! Just ask the people who have started watching NHL and NFL together in our off topic channel!).
In any case, our Discord is not necessary, but it is a worthy and tactical element to completing many of the tasks of this challenge. 💙
And.... without further ado....!
The 2025 Fanfic Reading Challenge! (link)
There is an info/rules page as the first sheet on the spreadsheet that should fill in any further questions you have. It also has more contact info than just this page if you have any further questions and perhaps need a more immediate answer for your needs.
*Occasionally you will run into something that looks like an error, and it may in fact be one! Let us know if you see it. It's hard not to make a mistake on as large a spreadsheet as this.*
Please, first of all, have fun and just read fanfiction that you enjoy! I (Juulna) did that last year and didn't even come close to completing the entire challenge, and I still had a blast because I was enjoying what I was reading and rereading. Others took the challenge right to the completed end. Others forgot about it halfway through but still had fun, and some even went back and filled in the sheet for a really good showing! The challenge is what you make of it, what you want from it. So... just have fun. Read fic. Smile. Enjoy. :)
Second of all... well, we would love if you signal boost this post!!!!
Third of all, we do have our pinned post that includes a link to this page and that will include a link to our Discord and all our trackers as well, including past links for memento and informative purposes.
Thank you, and a blessed 2025 to all!

Chilling because you have an easy job at a competition looking at silly little numbers and graphs on the screen while your girlfriend is battling with The Torture Pit Of 10,000 Decibels And Flourescent Lights And Uncomfortable Seats In The Bleachers That Hurt Your Butt After Thirty Minutes Complete With Giant Huge Crowd is such a strange experience. I’m slacking off playing wordle in between matches while she’s in a purgatory of every demon you could possibly fight.
Chilling because you have an easy job at competition while your girlfriend actively fights computer demons in the pits is such a strange experience. I’m playing infinity Nikki while she evades scuffles between other robot people. This is such a niche post only one mutual and my irl friends will understand.

Two of the most problematic reports regarding alleged famine were issued in March 2024 and November 2024 by the IPC’s Famine Review Committee (FRC).
The FRC’s March report asserted that famine was “was projected and imminent,” in particular in northern Gaza, and that 677,000 people in the Gaza Strip were already in the Phase 5 Catastrophe level of its food insecurity scale.
If this were correct, it would have meant that at least 135 people were dying of starvation every day in March 2024.
Palestinian children suffering from malnutrition or chronic diseases such as cancer, wait with family members at Nasser hospital in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip on June 24, 2024, after they reportedly were given permission by the Israeli army to leave the besieged Palestinian territory for treatment through the Kerem Shalom crossing, amid the ongoing conflict in the Palestinian territory between Israel and Hamas. (Bashar Taleb / AFP)
An IPC Special Brief projected that 1.1 million people would be in the Phase 5 Catastrophe level in the period from March 16 to July 15, 2024, which would have meant at least 221 people dying of starvation every day in that period.
The FRC’s November report stated that there was “an imminent and substantial likelihood of famine occurring,” while in December 2024, FEWS NET published an “Alert” asserting that “A Famine (IPC Phase 5) scenario continues to unfold in North Gaza Governorate.”
UKLFI identified numerous, substantive problems with these reports, however.
In June 2024, the FRC itself published an updated report stating that “the available evidence does not indicate that Famine is currently occurring,” despite its dire predictions from March.
The March report also did not provide any statistics on the mortality rate from the malnutrition and starvation it asserted was happening and predicted would strengthen from March to July.
That report noted that the death toll related to malnutrition was 25 in total, whereas the claimed Phase 5 catastrophe level in northern Gaza should have meant that some 60 people were dying from malnutrition every day, according to the population in the region at the time, UKLFI said.
The June report did provide a mortality rate from all causes, meaning as a result of military action and malnutrition together. The stated level would, however, only have qualified as Phase 3 level of food insecurity at the most, if it was based on non-trauma deaths, which it was not.
UKLFI noted in its study that FRC, and the World Food Program organization, were in possession of the non-trauma mortality figures but chose not to share them.
Trucks with aid arrive at the Gazan side of the Kerem Shalom border crossing, in the southern Gaza Strip, on January 17, 2024. (Abed Rahim Khatib/Flash90)
Another key problem with the March report – as pointed out in an Israeli study by public health officials published by Israel’s Foreign Affairs Ministry in May and noted in the UKLFI’s study – was that it failed to take into account food supplied to northern Gaza by the private sector, alongside the humanitarian aid brought into the territory.
The March report was cited directly by the International Court of Justice in the genocide suit brought by South Africa against Israel, and also referenced by the International Criminal Court’s prosecutor Karim Khan when he announced he was seeking arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant, warrants which were ultimately issued by the court.
Indeed Khan specifically cited the FRC claim that 1.1 million were facing “catastrophic hunger,” which he said was the highest number “ever recorded, anywhere, anytime,” when filing his application for arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant.
In November, the FRC issued an “Alert” saying there was a “substantial likelihood of famine, particularly in northern Gaza, and stating, “It can therefore be assumed that starvation, malnutrition, and excess mortality due to malnutrition and disease, are rapidly increasing in these areas.” Famine thresholds “may have already been crossed,” it added.
But this report, too, did not include mortality data to back up its assertions. It stated that a malnutrition parameter known as MUAC indicated Phase 3 malnutrition throughout Gaza, but did not provide precise details.
In a “Special Brief” also issued in November, FRC said that acute malnutrition was “ten times higher” than before the war.
But the FRC reports, and a FEWS NET report, mistakenly asserted that the MUAC rate in Gaza before October 7, 2023 was 1%, when in reality it was 4%, UKLFI pointed out.
And don't forget, boys and girls, Israel is the only country in the world that is expected to supply its genocidal enemies with food, electricity, water, and other humanitarian supplies. Nothing was expected of Hamas, and Hamas was even free to "execute collaborators" without a peep from the world's "human rights" advocates." The double standard is appalling. GAJ

The organization’s online publication, The Daily Citizen, was specifically criticized for allegedly promoting “anti-trans pseudoscience” and supporting conversion therapy, which the SPLC labels as harmful.
The SPLC also pointed to Focus on the Family’s opposition to same-sex marriage and its advocacy for traditional family structures as evidence of its “extremist” stance.
Glenn T. Stanton, director of Global Family Formation Studies at Focus on the Family, responded to the designation with defiance. “To be honest, our reaction was, ‘What took them so long?’” Stanton told The Christian Post.
“We are honored to be listed alongside so many other great organizations like Alliance Defending Freedom and Family Research Council. The SPLC’s list is little more than a fundraising tool, and their name-calling doesn’t bother us.”
Stanton suggested that the SPLC targets groups like Focus on the Family to create “boogeymen” for financial gain, dismissing the hate group label as a misrepresentation of their biblically grounded mission.
The SPLC, originally founded in 1971 to combat white supremacist groups like the Ku Klux Klan, has faced criticism for expanding its hate group designations to include mainstream conservative Christian organizations.
In 2012, the SPLC’s labeling of the Family Research Council as a hate group was linked to a violent incident when a gunman, inspired by the SPLC’s list, attacked the FRC’s headquarters.

frc ranting in your inbox again since that big grant money has my blood boiling. do you know how much the teams i've been on & mentored would kill for that type of money? and they get it from one sponsor??? YEARLY?????? if you combine all our budgets for all the years since covid it would still be less than that. wild. absolutely wild.
ok rant over. thank you for leaving your askbox open. hope you are enjoying this year's game & have not been hit by wild algae lately :)
600k total and 380k from A SINGLE GRANT!!!! THATS INSANE!!!! and haha yeah i haven't been too involved in the team i'm an alumni from but. god. god. like i said i have nothing but respect for The Hawaiian Kids they're a really smart and really talented team that i've had nothing but kind interactions with. but 600k. 600k. may this never reach a hawaiian kid student but please know that your funding is insane and teams from rural or run down areas are very much. not impressed
ALSO THIS YEARS GAME IS SO FUN i will say though that i was the. the only student who participated in the at-home challenge to develop a game, and when i saw the uhh. the. the cages. i cant remember if thats what they're called, but the thing you climb. and i saw the chain. i immediately turned to my mom and i went "thats a zinc-plated chain" because there was a VERY specific rule for the game design challenge that you had to include one.

PSA for FTC/FRC software folks
in previous seasons, the game manual had explicit writing about using the FIRST-provided SDK (the "FtcRobotController" app), but those rules have since been removed from the manual entirely???
I'm not a rules lawyer, but given that the Android NDK exists, it's possible to write your bots in Rust (cough cough please) or other native languages without the world's largest headache!!! I myself am planning on tinkering with this idea in my free time :)
This won't last forever- if you didn't already know, FIRST is unifying the control systems of FTC and FRC under a new system in 2027. They explicitly state the requirement of running on the Linux kernel (specifically they note using the Debian or Ubuntu kernel versions), which would be awesome. You can read their spec here but the actual system has yet to be introduced. But, just judging by their specifications, they intend on exposing a far more flexible system for control methods (via a C/C++ API, as well as official layers for Python and Java aka Kotlin But Worse) which I'm all on board for.
I might consider actually mentoring a season if it means getting to see a Rust-powered bot in FTC
Or maybe I'll just make jokes about bombs, drones, and genocides that FIRST and its sponsors remain complicit to. 🇵🇸

Uro Oncologist in Bangalore
Urological cancers including bladder, kidney, prostate, and testicular cancers have been on the rise in recent years. These conditions can be life-threatening if not detected and treated in their early stages. However, with the advent of advanced medical technologies and the availability of highly trained specialists, effective treatment and positive outcomes are more achievable than ever. If you’re based in Bangalore or anywhere in Karnataka and searching for a skilled uro oncologist in Bangalore, you're already taking a critical step toward recovery.
This blog explores urological cancers, the role of a uro oncologist, and introduces you to some of the best uro oncologist doctors in Bangalore particularly Dr. I R Ravish, a highly respected name in uro-oncology.
Understanding Urological Cancers
Urological cancers affect the organs of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. The most common types include:
Bladder Cancer
Kidney Cancer
Prostate Cancer
Testicular Cancer
Unfortunately, many of these cancers are asymptomatic in their early stages and may only be detected through routine screenings or when symptoms like blood in the urine, difficulty urinating, or persistent pelvic or back pain begin to appear. Early diagnosis plays a pivotal role in ensuring successful treatment.
In a medical hub like Bangalore, access to quality care is readily available. Leading specialists such as Dr. I R Ravish, with over 28 years of experience in urology and oncology, provide advanced diagnostics and treatment for all types of urological cancers.
What Is Uro-Oncology?
Uro-oncology is a subspecialty that combines urology and oncology. A uro oncologist is a medical professional trained specifically to diagnose and treat cancers related to the urinary system and male reproductive organs. These specialists are adept at handling complex cases involving the bladder, kidneys, prostate, and testicles through a mix of surgical and non-surgical methods.
A uro oncologist typically works with a team of oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care. Treatment strategies may include:
Advanced imaging and biopsies for accurate diagnosis
Surgical intervention (laparoscopic or robotic-assisted)
Chemotherapy and radiation
Immunotherapy or targeted drug therapies
Long-term follow-up and survivorship planning
Why Consult a Uro Oncologist?
Not every urologist is trained to handle cancer care. When it comes to life-threatening conditions like urological cancers, it is crucial to consult a uro oncologist in Bangalore with expertise in both surgical precision and cancer treatment.
A uro oncologist ensures:
Accurate diagnosis using modern imaging techniques and lab tests
A personalized treatment plan tailored to your health and cancer stage
Access to advanced surgical options like minimally invasive and robotic surgeries
Post-treatment monitoring and support to reduce the risk of recurrence

Blood in the urine
Difficulty or pain while urinating
Unexplained weight loss
Lower back or abdominal pain
Swelling in the testicles
Prompt evaluation and treatment are essential. These symptoms, while not always indicative of cancer, should not be ignored.
What’s Your Next Step?
If you or a loved one is experiencing symptoms or has been diagnosed with urological cancer, don’t delay expert care. Here’s what you can do:
Schedule a Consultation: Book an appointment with Dr. I R Ravish or another uro oncologist mentioned above. Early evaluation can make a significant difference.
Seek a Second Opinion: If you already have a diagnosis, consulting a top uro oncology specialist in Bangalore ensures that you are exploring all possible treatment options.
Understand Your Treatment Plan: A good specialist will guide you through diagnostic tests, explain surgical options, and support you through post-treatment care.
Stay Informed and Supported: Cancer treatment can be overwhelming. Work with a compassionate and communicative doctor who keeps you informed and supported every step of the way.
