Chilchuck analysis speedrun: As a hardworking half-foot who grew up poor and discriminated against and had his gullibility taken advantage of multiple times in his early adventuring days, Chilchuck thinks optimism is a dangerous flaw. He’s stressed and strict all the time because his job is noticing details like traps that could get everyone killed before anyone knows it, he takes the lives of everyone to be on his shoulders, and with the way he speaks about it that probably partly reflects how he felt about taking it upon himself to provide for his family too. His life’s always been pretty centered around work and has become even moreso now that his wife left and everyone is independent, and due to past events he’s very iffy with bonding with coworkers. He thinks feelings and job are a disaster mix. Like with his wife or with parties hiring him as sacrifice, being open or having good faith is vulnerability which can get you hurt, so he processes and shows all his stress as anger instead of worry. Doing strict dieting probably isn’t helping the irritability what with hunger, and on top of being a hunger suppressant alcohol might be the main stress reliever he has.
His grey hairs are so earned

this year i learned that there's a thing called "permanent alimony" (support paid to the lesser-earning spouse until the death of the payor, the death of the recipient, or the remarriage of the recipient). that alone is reason to NOT get married. nahhhh.

You know I don't think Timmy actually ended up sharing Wanda and Cosmo for all that long with Chloe in the grand scheme of things.
I mean there's various points in the show that seem to imply that having Fairy GodParents is a temporary thing. Like extremely temporary for most kids.
As in even being 10, and having gotten Cosmo and Wanda at age 8, Timmy's considered as having been a GodChild for a long time. Even if that's only a couple years.
Like there's a reason why there's multiple episodes about all of Fairy World being interested in whatever Timmy's up to.
Timmy's an outlier case.
He's going to end up aging out of the system (bar any breaking of any major rule that the fairies can't find a way to forgive) and everyone knows it.
They made a whole live action trilogy of bending the rules just for him where he gets to keep his fairies as an adult, and then turns into a fairy at the end of that trilogy.
He's a, probably wouldn't have made it to adulthood without fairies, kind of a case.
That's not the case for most kids who get fairies, or at least it's heavily implied that's not the case for most kids who get fairies.
Take Cosmo and Wanda being Crocker's fairies in 1972, and having already been his fairies for about 2 years by that point, but having had been Billy Gate's fairies in 1970.
We're never even given a hint that Billy lost his fairies traumatically, because he grew up to invent the internet just fine, and we never hear about him beyond that. And it seems like if a kid traumatically loses their fairies before their ready, it ends with them being a screwed up adult.
Which tells me that whatever situation Billy was in to need fairies resolved itself shortly after the time travel thing.
Heck even then, it was heavily implied that Crocker's life, even qualifying for fairies, was better than Timmy's was. Considering the only things mentioned is that he's got a single mom that works multiple jobs, and when she doesn't she tends to focus on her hobbies, and an evil babysitter to deal with.
He's not bullied at that point, he's not struggling academically, the only things wrong with his life (before getting over dosed on magic mindwipe and being disfigured and losing his mind as a result, which turned him into a social outcast) is that he's got a single mom who works a lot and leaves him with a mean babysitter so she can have me time.
That's it, that's what makes him qualify.
And he would have aged out of at least one of those problems before turning 18. He would have been 14 when he would have naturally outgrown needing to have a babysitter (as that's how old Vicky starts babysitting Timmy).
Then by that point he would have also been old enough to get a part time job of his own. Lightening the financial lode on his mother, and possibly freeing up some of her working time to actually spend with her.
Meaning it's possible that both of his fairy qualifying problems would have resolved themselves by age 14 or 15.
But also the kind of miserable it takes to get godparents (at least when that baseline is first established) is temporary for most kids.
I wouldn't be surprised if the typical Fairy GodParent & GodChild relationship typically only lasted like a year or two for most kids.
[And it seems like the majority of kids we meet who have GodParents, get them at age 10.
I'm pretty sure Timmy being 8 and getting his Fairies, is the youngest kid we ever see having Fairies.
Other than de-aged Vicky that one episode, but because it happened in the constraints of one of Timmy's wishes, I'm not going to count it. Especially because when Cosmo and Wanda are reassigned to Vicky, no one comes to erase Timmy's memory of having fairies, so she doesn't have to worry at all about hiding them which all other godkids do.
Also Vicky is just given Cosmo and Wanda and not her own fairy, which I feel heavily implies that all of this is falling under wish logic, and not normal logic.
Crocker is the second youngest, because he had Cosmo and Wanda at 9.]
Especially in cases where the root of the kid's misery is something they have the power to personally confront and change.
Like if a kid gets a fairy because they're being bulled at school to the point it's ruining everything else in their life. [Bully is making it to where they can't complete school or home work, causing grades to drop, meaning no extracurricular stuff, and getting in trouble with parents.]
But that kid manages to reveal what's happening, and gets things to change, and their life goes back to how it was before. Then that kid obviously doesn't need a GodParent anymore to make up for their miserable life.
I could easily see plenty of situations where a kid might only have a GodParent for less than a year.
Like Hazel's situation from A New Wish weirds me out, because all her problems are super temporary problems that resolve in like a few months to a year for most kids who have those problems.
It's missing her older brother who left for collage. Which most kids eventually get over after just getting used to them no longer living in the same house as them.
When the younger sibling gets used to the older siblings absence, a pretty good chunk of them revel in the bizarre experience of being either the new oldest, or an only child for the rest of their own childhood.
It's moving to a new city and having to make all new friends. Which Hazel does over the course of season 1. She's got 3 friends if Dev counts.
Everything causing her to need fairies is all extremely temporary. Which is a large part of the reason why I don't think she'll be one of the kids to age out of the system the way Timmy was.
She's got parents who love her, she's not struggling at school, she doesn't have an abusive babysitter, she's already started making friends at her new school, her brother came home from collage, but even then that's something she'd just grow out of eventually.
So I feel like unless something in her life changes for the worst, she's going to only have Cosmo and Wanda for a few years at most. And lose them around age 14-15.
Sure her problems are a lot more relatable than Timmy's ever were.
Which is understandable considering Timmy was a kid who had literally everything going wrong in his life, except he wasn't living in poverty.
From neglectful parents, being bullied as school, an abusive babysitter, being specifically targeted by a teacher for harassment, being the target of a girl's stalker crush on him, being canonically considered an idiot even without Crocker targeting him (even though I'm pretty sure he just has ADHD). And that's just the major stuff he starts off with.
That's not even getting into like the magical enemies he makes over the course of the show. Who are out to get him from then on.
And the fact that his parents weren't actively malicious towards him, just forgetful and oblivious.
But Hazel's problems are also all a lot more temporary than Timmy's ever were.
And that's like, the big thing that makes them different and give me the feeling that, while Timmy definitely aged out and had fairies until the last possible moment, kids like Chloe and Hazel probably only had fairies for a few years at most.
That's most likely why Wanda and Cosmo still refer to Timmy as their last godchild before retiring. Even though they were assigned Chloe years after they were assigned to Timmy.
Chloe's issues probably resolved at some point and Timmy returned to being a singular GodChild from that point on.
[I'm guessing she grew a backbone at some point, lets her parents know all the pressure they put on her was making her miserable, and stopped being a complete doormat for literally everyone. Because those were her big problems that caused her to qualify for Fairies.]
Which was probably extremely awkward for Timmy in the aftermath of Chloe having her memories purged of fairies, considering they only spent time together because they were made to share fairies.
Sure Timmy had seen kids lose their fairies before, like with Remy, but he'd never cared then because he hardly spent any time with Remy, and no one would call him and Remy friends.
But it had to be weird when it inevitably happened with Chloe, because by the end there, she basically lived in the Turner house.
Heck of the two kids who get fairies in A New Wish, I'd say that Dev is the kid more likely to be an age out case than Hazel. If he ever regains godparents.
Considering having a single parent, who literally loves business and money more than he'll ever love his own kid, is a bit more of a permanent misery than "I moved to a new town and have no friends, and my brother went off to collage" is.
Just to be honest.
Like maybe it's different rules because Hazel is a post-retirement passion project for Cosmo and Wanda, and they can stay with her until she'd age out because they're not on official rotation or whatever.
But no one will be able to convince me that she'd actually need fairies the entire rest of her childhood unless something horrible happens to her in season 2.
Like baby girl those are some temporary issues that tend to resolve themselves within a year, how are you going to keep qualifying for fairy godparentship the rest of this series?

One Piece Character Angst/Angst HC's
(some are a mix of my random typed out thoughts and others I've heard from ppl)
Law:
Thinking about how Law has probably slowly started to forget Cora's face, how he has so many medicinal books about the frontal lobe and memories and how to regain memories just to be able to remember Cora's face. He'll break down in tears and the other heart Pirates have to comfort him but every time they wrap their hands around him the only one he can think of is Cora and his warmth and how much he misses it. Thinking about how the main three Heart Pirates, Shachi, Penguin, and Bepo all remind him of Cora in some way. How some days it'll be too hard to even look at any of the Heart Pirates because every time he does he catches glimpses of Cora. How meeting the first three Heart Pirates and remembering how he met them always brings him back to remembering Cora. How he probably blocks out memories from that time and anytime they try to reference that period of time, he'll tell them in a bit of a panic that he can't remember and so they'll have to help him. They tell him over and over so he can't forget again. Thinking about how those three are probably the ones who bought Law the material and the sewing kit that he would later use to make his clothes that he incorporates Cora into.
Thinking about how the reason Law hated the female version of himself is because it just reminded him of his little sister. Sweet Lami, who if she had the chance to grow up, would probably look something like how he did. That's why he was so quick to change back, cuz he couldn't and wouldn't think of her. He couldn't think of seeing her empty eyes, her cold, empty eyes. He couldn't think of how he couldn't save her. And during Lami's last seconds all she could think of was her brother, all she could think of was going with him and getting ice cream and playing and doing all the things he promised. And actually thought of these things a smile made its way onto her face. And that's how he found her smiling, smiling, smiling, smiling, always smiling. And that's why seeing Cora's dead body with that same smile made it all the more worse. He hated it. What were they smiling about? Were they really so happy to leave him? Did they feel at peace? Why couldn't he save them? Why couldn't he take their place? If he had even a sliver of a chance to do so, he would.
Sanji:
Thinking about how Sanji pulls that his hair when stressed, because he just has to reassure himself that he's no longer in that helmet, no longer in that cell, that cold dark desolate cell with no one but himself. How whenever it gets too quiet he has to go outside on the deck, go around the other straw hats, because if it's too quiet he's back in that cell again.
Thinking about how one of the main reasons Sanji hated being on Okama Island was the dressing up. Because when he went back to his room one those nights and saw himself, he would spiral into a panic attack because he hadn't seen HER in so long and- GOD, he really does have her eyes, and- and her nose and her mouth. And he just looks so much like her and he HATES it. He's reminded of it every time they succeed in getting him in a dress and putting makeup on him. He feels his hands shake and his breath quickens and eventually the Queens notice. At first they think it's because he just doesn't want to accept this version of himself, but they then realize that's not the case. Sanji hates it because it reminds him of his mother, the one person who showed care and loved freely, even though she would never be free. It haunts him. He hates it even more during WCI, when Reiju mentions how much he looks like her. He can see it in her eyes that whenever she looks at him, all she sees is their mother. He learns to love it eventually, to realize that looking like her means he has another piece of her with him. How it made him look more human. Even though, with the modifications coming in, he no longer felt like he was.
Doflamingo:
Thinking about how whenever Doffy's left alone he'll get that voice in the back of his head, the one he hears whatever he thinks of Rosi, the one that just yearns for his younger brother. The voice in the back of his head screaming and crying for his baby brother. The one that doesn't understand why or how he's gone. The one that doesn't understand that HE'S the reason why his precious baby brother whom he loves so much is dead.It increased ever since he went to Impel Down. It cries and screams and begs for it's little brother. But he pushes it down, he doesn't acknowledge that the reason that he can't see or have his little brother in his arms is because of himself. He doesn't comprehend that all of this is his fault. The voice screams at him that it's all his fault, that he's a monster, that he needs to burn. But he doesn't listen, why should he? His precious baby brother's dead now, after all.
Uta:
Thinking about how Uta probably kept singing because she hated how quiet it was in that house. She had no one to talk to. Her father, the man she trusted with her entire being had thrown her away. She still hears his voice when she sings, complimenting her when she hits the correct notes and reassuring her when she doesn't. She lies awake at night wondering why he left her. Maybe she wasn't a good musician, that's okay, she'll just practice more and maybe he'll come back for her.
Or maybe, just maybe, she was a bad daughter. Maybe he was just tired of her. Maybe he got tired of her being bad. Maybe he didn't like her playing around and being loud. But she and Luffy played around and he never said anything bad. Then again, he always seemed to like Luffy more. She could see it in his eyes whenever he looked at Luffy. She doesn't blame him, Luffy shines brighter than the Sun. Her jealousy of him would never burn brighter than Luffy himself. That's probably it. He doesn't want her because he has Luffy. He probably didn't want her in the first place. She was just dull copper in that pile of shining gold in the treasure chest which he found her. But at least she had Ben! But then, why didn't Ben help her? Did Ben not like her either?
...Did any of them?

I wanna write a Lawsan fic in which Law won't stop being annoying about Germa and info-dumping about it and, even if he says he hates it, talking about it all. The. Damn. Time. And Sanji snapping at him furiously and telling him something like "Could you shut the fuck up already?! You keep saying you hate Germa but as far as I know, you'd be on your knees to suck my brothers' cocks like the fanboy you are. Do you happen to lack hearing comprehension? I don't give a fuck what you say because your dumb comics were my whole fucking childhood, and I don't know how yours was, but mine wasn't pretty. I- Fuck. Look. Fuck you. You don't understand and you're not willing to understand and I'm sure you've never had to tell your own family to fuck off but it does a fucking number on you, so. Don't- Just- Just don't, okay? I need- I need a moment away from you" and he leaves Law feeling absolutely like shit because he didn't notice he was being so heartless to him. Sanji goes away and, since this happens in front of everyone, Zoro's like "Well done, man" and Law's just like "Shut the fuck up". Then there's a whole scene with Law apologizing but I'm saving that for the fic ngl.

Does lawlu have a kid too that plays with zosan kid?
In my opinion, Lawlu isn't a couple who are going to have kids... relatively, at the very least. Who knows if I can think of any setting or AU where they might have children, but in a modern domestic AU or canon/canon-compliant settings, I don't exactly see them as having kids. I see them as a couple whose idea of settling in begins and ends with each other. Don't get me wrong, they adore children, but they're not necessarily interested in having their own. Them playing uncles for their friends' kids is more than enough for them.
What I do see them having, in modern setting, are dogs. I totally see Law as a dog person and Luffy is just jolly enough to have any pet companion around. I think it paints a pretty funny picture to see Law trying to wrestle both of his overexcited dog AND boyfriend to take a bath after their 2-hour frolicking in the muddy grass.
A couple that I see having kids in modern AU is actually Frobin! My personal headcanon is that they adopted, and it has to do with how I love the idea of Robin, who was abandoned as a child but gradually found love and healing in her found family, would want to try to be a mother for children who went through the similar thing she did as a child. Robin canonically adores children, so I think it's not much of a stretch for her to want them regardless of how she acquires them. And Franky is just supportive all around - he'd be a great dad.

Tcf part 2 chapter 208
“We went through that hard time last year. Now there are no more incidents happening in Roan.”
At the end of the battle with the white star. Now we are dealing with hunters. There is no reason for a problem to arise in the Kingdom of Roan, especially at the academy where the students gather. From what Cale and Alberu know.
Now why'd that sound so ominous in the end there hmmm???

Ok so today I found out Nanbaka ended some time ago so I spoiled myself and man, the ending was so rushed and angst for no reason and overall disappointing??? The author threw very important lore info and a plot twist that felt all out of the blue near the ending... I love angst but when it is well written, and this was not. Their friendship was real, even if prior to the series start wasn't I know what I read was real friendship and this ending ruins for me one of the main themes of this show.
I don't post a lot about this series because I started it before I even had Tumblr but Nanbaka was everything to me back then. Even after I was forced to move on because the english translation stopped and finding all chapters fan translated was very difficult I'd find myself thinking about these characters sometimes and I almost dare to say that it was a comfort series. Not being able to keep reading it without going through a Odyssey was already upsetting but the ending? What in the actual fuck is that. Is not even the fact it was a sad ending what bothers me the most, it's that it was sad and felt bad written or without proper building 🙁
This literally summaries my opinion regarding what happened to the main group:
Tumblr media
Now I feel bad? Bad like when you receive bad news irl? Like I've received a punch in the stomach or a betrayal from a dear old friend
If spy x family or yuu & grim (including all of their friends in twst) separate in the end I'm losing all hope of being happy and relaxing with this trope without fearing the chance of getting backstabbed again forever

unless you're a highly religious man, marriage just isn't worth the risk if you're a guy. you don't realize this when you're young, which is when you're most vulnerable, but as you get older, as you learn more about life, as you learn more about women, as you learn more about the games that are being played in relationships, as you learn more about divorce rates, as you learn more about people staying in unhappy marriages for the sake of kids, appearances, finances, etc., the more you realize that marriage is a gamble where the stakes are stacked against you as a man. this is especially true if you're not a wealthy man. if you're wealthy (like say a net worth of 50 million) and you lose half of that, you're still really rich and chances are you have the know-how and connections to make back what you lost. however, if you're a guy just making 50k a year and you suddenly lose half or more, you can literally find yourself homeless. it's crazy.
