I’ve been thinking way too much about the final shot of 1x08, where it pulls out on Ed and Stede looking at each other while down on the deck. Ed’s foot reaches out and touches Stede’s leg. Simple right?

Well, How did Waititi know when to do it??? Is there a monitor on the ground just off camera we can’t see? Wouldn’t that be too small/at a terrible angle? (also would you want to be able to see a monitor while acting? I’m not an actor but I wouldn’t, I don’t think). Was he counting it? Did they figure out how many sections past “action” the camera had moved enough for their feet to be in frame? Was he slyly looking at the camera to see how far it had gone up and guessing based on that? Was there someone off-screen looking at a monitor and giving him some kind of signal for when to do it? Did he just fuckin’ go for it and guess right?

Absolutely nothing on set can ever be simple. A crane shot like that with extras and camera movement is going to be even more complicated, and this is only just one tiny part of it.

No shade to OP as a person but believe me, this is a sign that something is DEEPLY fucking broken. Like they announced ONE new IP out of like eight films. I genuinely think within the decade they're just gonna stop making original films all together. That's what they learned from Elemental and Wish, just don't make anything new if you can help it.

Like they've unironically turned into what people pretend Dreamworks is, a sequel mill. The real downside is that Dreamworks actually knows how to make a good sequel, Disney never really figured that one out, bar a couple of outliers, and I have no faith in them pulling any of these off. Absolutely soul-crushingly pathetic. Thank god other animation studios exist.

Listen, you should never film strangers in public without their consent, but I swear there need to be fines or something for people who do that shit in some spaces. For example: I had to go to the ER last night, and some jerk filmed a woman who just came in and was clearly having an asthma attack. She immediately got to go back, and he was unhappy about that. Believe me, I get that it sucks having to wait when you're in pain, but you don't get to pick who deserves care when. The medical system in the US is a nightmare, and the ER could be the worst moment of someone's life. No one deserves to be recorded because some jack ass believes someone doesn't look like they need care.

This is fine to reblog. People who film strangers should be shamed if nothing else.

Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.
