Spoilers for this week's episode of the Flash TV series!

The Flash series finale was this week! Did you like Zoom, Godspeed, Savitar, Wellsobard, or Eddie Thawne in previous seasons? Or have a love of comics Cobalt Blue? If so, you might want to check out the episode! Truthfully, all those guys go out with a whimper rather than a bang so you may be disappointed, but they still get a few good moments before it and maybe that's enough. Plus a Wells shows up later to help with that Tom Cavanagh fix. I'm disappointed Cisco didn't return (and neither did any Rogues, but it was a huge cast and maybe more villains would have been overkill)…Wally should have been there too, but at least he appeared a few episodes ago to more or less wrap up his story.

It wasn't an amazing finale if I'm being honest, but it's nice that things got wrapped up properly, the ending was cheery, and things are looking up for every member of Team Flash. Plus it was good to see Eddie and Wellsobard again, even if Eddie's arc was veering dangerously close to character assassination -- but he makes the correct choice in the end, and he's right about the universe not treating him fairly. So I can live with it.

I watched the entire series even though I was only sporadically enjoying it as of several seasons ago, and all those years were a hell of a ride. First season and the fun the fandom had will always live on positively in my memories, so it was worth it. I'm not sorry it's over, but glad to have had the experience.

For me, as a fan of the first seasons of The Flash, this date is something special.

It is now that I realize that the future has truly arrived. I remember the day I watched the pilot of the series and saw this date. Then I thought, damn, I have to wait another ten years, wow, that’s a long time...

And now we are here.

April 25, 2024.

The day the Flash disappeared in a flash of light while fighting Reverse Flash. Who would have thought, right?

We survived. Wow.

Thursday is Flash day. Thursday is review day for the first season.

Thursday is April 25, 2024.

Thursday is the day Flash missing vanishes in crisis.

Amazing feeling.

Sadly Tar Pit doesn't actually appear, but Barry has a dream in which he does….and honestly his CGI looks a lot better, so I'll take a cameo in an abbreviated season. It's too bad he probably won't get to do anything else and we won't really get to see him in action.

But the real villainous star is Owen, who's working for or with Red Death. RD keeps him stocked with trick boomerangs and other tech, and Owen repeatedly steals or tries to steal an explosive MacGuffin on her behalf; Barry and Iris are trapped in a Groundhog Day loop, and that's why it keeps happening over and over. Owen has apparently been in and out of Iron Heights since he was 19 and had some very bad experiences there, so he's determined not to go back (and doesn't in this episode). There's no indication thus far whether he's related to Digger, but Barry does acknowledge there was a previous Captain Boomerang. And Owen seems to be American so there's no tortured Aussie accent, which is honestly kind of a relief. He's enough of a dick to set off a nuke to cover his escape and isn't doing a great job of being a sympathetic villain just yet, but we'll see where this goes.
