chapter 1096 spoilers

this is one of those chapters I've been waiting for so long!

Let's get straight to it:

The slave hunt has started and the CDs start chasing people who have targets on their back (basically running, moving, living, breathing targets)

Kuma, Ivankov and Ginny hatch a plan to steal the devil fruits while everybody is distracted (Poor lil Kuma has an arrow in his back)

the rocks and Roger pirates arrive and we see big mom, Rocks (not revealed) shiki, Glorosia, Whitebeard, Bakkin, Roger (looking like a young ace), Wang Zhi, a young Kaido, John and crocus maybe? I dunno I read all that at 4am I had a brain fart

Garp pulls up after he got summoned to protect the CDs, he was in a vacation when they called him. Bro couldn't get a break and for what, to protect those BASTARDS?

The pirates wreck havoc in the island and almost mess up the plan of the little kids. Ivankov catches Kaido's fruit and Kuma grabs the Paw paw fruit.

Big mom attacks ivankov and catches the fruit from his hands. A terrified Kuma eats his devil fruit

Saturn appears and uses his Haki (probably? I dunno, whatever was that scary glance that knocked Sanji off his feet) and says something to him... Whatever it is I don't think it would be something polite

Fast forward we see Kuma, Ginny and Ivankov are back to Sorbet island. Kuma is praying in a church. Later Ivankov decides to leave (he probably wanted to go sailing) and the little kids bid him farewell

We are shown and a montage of him and Ginny working (she beats up some kids who bullied him but he heals them and they become best friends)

Kuma and Ginny are then shown eating dinner, living inside the abandoned church

and edwin, without even looking at her, breaks the kiss, and says, voice terrifyingly even and absolutely acerbic, "it would be in your best interests to turn around and leave immediately, crystal" before he goes right back to kissing the unliving daylights out of charles

charles, meanwhile, just laughs and kisses him back.

What do you think Rarity would be like as a character if she was born and raised in Canterlot?

If I had to really sit down and think about it, I think she probably would have been either:

A) a Fancy Pants type of character, in other words, an aristocrat who is still kind-hearted even if in their own world.

or B) exactly as much as a prissy bitch as Blueblood lmao

It all really would come down to her own upbringing in Canterlot, honestly, and who she's surrounded by. If she, for example, was surrounded by kind 'aristocrats' a la Fancy, Celestia, Twilight Velvet, etc, the Rarity who'd come out from that would be VERY different than the one who'd come out from being raised by someone like, say Jet Set or the other snobby pony from Suite and Elite.

Same thing with Twilight, tbh. There's probably a universe where she was raised or her upbringing shaped her into being a complete snobby bitch and, wait, hold on, wait, that'd make a fascinating RariTwi au, wai--

It's extremely fascinating and frightening to me how hateful some of you people are towards shuro, a man who is clearly depicted as japanese, (a man who could look like me or literally any member of my family in real life) for being a normal, complex, and flawed human being.

Why do you single him out for getting frustrated with and mad at laios when chilchuck and marcille do the same literally all the time? What's the difference between them and shuro?

Why do you feel the unnecessary need to protect these white women from a japanese man?

Do you expect that this japanese man is inherently going to have some kind of ugly negative quality that has not been once hinted at canonically? Do you know what that's called? Because i do and it's fucking racism.

You people get scared the moment a character that is a person of color isnt a quiet little model minority or a sweet mammy archetype. You grasp at your pearls the moment they are revealed to have complex personalities and histories; when they feel negative, big emotions that are literally part of the human experience. Or god forbid, when they show romantic interest in a pure, helpless, little white woman.

And when a person of color stops behaving good and docile the way you want, when they decide that theyre not going to put up with a situation that makes them uncomfortable or miserable or RIGHTEOUSLY FURIOUS, they become the bad guy. As seen countless times in the medias demonizing depiction of the Black Lives Matter protests and even of black people who get punished for just living their lives. It happens so often i shouldnt have to reiterate it to you but it somehow keeps flying over your head.

And when that dirty, conniving, perverted, slant eyed, buck toothed, stumpy little japanese man understandably snaps at the white person you guys are projecting onto and all you see is this:

So dont be surprised when i say that id rather kill myself than entrust the safety of my oldest aunts and uncles or my youngest cousins with any of you who act like this. Im terrified of what could have happened if people like you worked at the facility that my great grandmother lived out her final years in. Would you have seen her as a wild animal that needed to be subdued too when she had one of her many dementia-induced violent episode?

I will not apologize for saying that i find it deeply disconcerting to see so many of you happily posting hateful vitriol or even about committing acts of violence against a man that looks like me, solely because he was experiencing his humanity

Emer ingen Forgaill did not tell a guy her father was trying to force her to marry "lol I want to marry Cú Chulainn, I will always want to marry Cú Chulainn, and also he could beat you up" for me to constantly see "have you considered the women in the Middle Ages who LIKED arranged marriages" -- like there's room for nuance, especially re: literature VS reality, as well as the way it's generally treated by the protagonist as being shocking (I remember a particularly egregious example in a book about Juana of Castille), but also...like...there's a reason chivalric romances exist in the form they do.
