atsushi with more cat/tiger behaviors but some lesser discussed ones:

he scratches all the doorways of the agency building and his dorm. kunikida scolds him for damaging property for over an hour but while he apologizes he’s strangely uncontrite (at least for atsushi who tends to overapologize) about it

a mostly nocturnal sleep schedule feels the most natural to him but since his orphanage’s schedule was (quite literally) beaten into him, he regularly wakes up early, though after a long mission or multiple in a row, he tends to sleep through the day instead.

when really frustrated (usually during an argument with akutagawa) he has a tendency to stomp his feet. it tends to break the tension, and atsushi finds its super embarrassing. akutagawa finds it cute

he’s constantly fighting the urge to sit on his coworkers desks while they’re working and distract them. same with knocking things off their desks.

head bunting!!!! he first starts doing it to kyouka after the end of the guild plot. just does it to her one morning while they’re cooking breakfast without realizing. he’s mortified for a moment until kyouka does it back, equally shy yet earnest about it. slowly he catches himself doing it to the rest of the agency: when kenji gives him a hug after a mission, when yosano buys him something he was looking at during a shopping trip, while sharing lunch with the tanizakis, to ranpo after atsushi solves his first mystery on own, to kunikida and dazai after a dangerous mission. he hasn’t worked himself up to doing it to the president yet (and fukuzawas kind of sad about it). dazai and kunikida are the most flustered by it, kenji and kyouka do it back to him the most.

as much as he hates being locked up or confined against his will (and he really hates it), he genuinely loves being in small spaces. he sleeps in the closest for kyoukas privacy but he does geniunely feel comfortable there. sometimes he eats lunch under his desk or in the supply room if he’s feeling stressed. dazai did give him a giant box once to see if he’d sit in it and he totally did.

he tends to suck on the corners of blankets and things like his shirts or sweaters when he’s asleep or distracted. dazai used to tease him for it until he read that it was often found cats taken to soon from their mothers. he didn’t really find it funny after that

he will just Stare at people. agency members look up from their work and will see him looking directly at them. he usually snaps out of it right after and apologizes but just like slow blinks and winks and closing his eyes, he starts doing it more and more as he gets in tune with his ability.

au where atsushi meets akutagawa at a book club, unaware of his identity

featuring atsushi, happy to meet someone who always enjoys his recommendations and seems to have read every book atsushi enjoyed - it makes sense he supposed for the orphanage to have only carried rlly well known/spread out books

and akutagawa who's reading list is already huge but only increasing becuz he has a weird burning desire to keep impressing the boy from his bookclub (that he was not in part of but just happened to be there when they were meeting and when the boy asked if he was a part of it didn't say no and now he cant leave becuz he has pride (and gin is very pleased by this social activity)) and reading every book he mentions/likes/recommends

with guest appearances from chuuya, the black lizard, and higuchi wondering why akutagawa has started reading whilst actively being on missions/in fights

and additionally guest appearances from the ada who are happy that atsushi made such a good friend and ranpo who knows and is keeping an annoyingly close eye on akutagawa (as in he's keeping up w/ him - he's not rlly doing anything - its just close eye in ranpo standards)

I love the drunk Aku headcanons where he is clinging to atsushi at all times, so let me propose another headcanon:

I love the aesthetic of traditional Chinese porcelain pottery and I think that the aesthetic fits more with Atsushi then akutagawa but I still think it be a cute tattoo idea for these two

Shin soukoku headcannons! :D

Atsushi can't resist lying in the sunlight filtering in through the windows in his apartment. When he and Akutagawa buy an apartment, Akatugawa insists on it having floor-to-roof windows so Atushi has more light to lie in.

Atsushi still has PTSD-induced nightmares from the orphanage. To help calm him down when he wakes up, Akutagawa bought a night light, even though he prefers sleeping in complete darkness.

Akutagawa's wardrobe consists almost entirely of black and white garments. The few exceptions are either gifted by or stolen from Atsushi.

Akutagawa didn't have a favorite color until he watched Atsushi transform. Ever since then, his favorite color has been light blue.

Atsushi tends not to eat whenever he feels sad/ like he did something wrong. Akatugawa always makes sure to make him his favorite meal and eat with him on bad days.

Akatugawa basically always has his coat on as protection, except for around Gin and Atsushi.

Atsushi bites Akatugawa when he's bored. He just bites his arm.

Akatugawa is perpetually cold. Atsushi's body temperature is naturally higher because of his ability. Akatugawa is constantly looking for an excuse to drape himself over Atsushi.

Atsushi sometimes needs pain bc of his past trauma. Akutagawa is always happy to fulfill his needs in a safe, sane, and consensual way. (or they just brawl, that happens too)

Akutagawa has food aversions while Atsushi would quite literally eat anything and everything. Whenever Atsushi cooks he keeps a list of Akutagawa's fear foods to avoid using them on accident. When he notices Akutagawa is tense, he refers to his list of safe foods.

Atsushi sucks at cooking as he never learned how to, and he hates fire because of his gift. Akutagawa is trying to teach him, but he often just ends up cooking the entire meal either way.

Have I mentioned that given the way Akutagawa acts he probably wants everyone around him to live?

Like, he was a protector for his group before the mafia it's not even a little unreasonable to think that he'd still be protecting whoever he's decided is in his new one.

My main selling point is the whole boat fight.

Akutagawa constantly giving Atushi Flowers with meanings thinking that Atushi wouldn’t know. But He totally knows because Kyoka for some reason one day got really interested in flower meanings and will totally rat out Akutagawa for giving Atushi Lilies(devotion). She also enjoys Atushi getting more and more confused on why Akutagawa is giving him such flowers until someone(honestly probably someone from the PM) literally shakes him and tells him why. Proceed to a flustered and mortified Atushi.

Headcanon that Atsushi has tritanopia (blue colorblindness)

Atsushi always hears things like "You have pretty eyes/weird eyes/sunset eyes" and the like. It always leaves him confused because as far as he can tell, he has average looking brown eyes.

Left is regular color vision, right is the tritanopia filter

Cats are usually partially colorblind anyway! Seeing less color means being able to see contrast better, which is very important to big cats >w<

Also for the SSKK of it all- A couple Akutagawas put through the tritanopia filter (He's always prettier from the Atsushi pov cuz Akutagawa has extreme contrast he's essentially black and white ;u;)

atsushi slow blinking at akutagawa but akutagawa not knowing what it means and wondering why atsushi blinks so funny

akutagawa seeing atsushi blink normally at someone else: Finally, Jinko fixed his blinking.

atsushi, spotting akutagawa, and slow blinking at him:

every single time the full moon comes around akutagawa goes “Is it that time of the month again, Jinko?” to atsushi at some point and it always unfailingly pisses him off to no end

Akutagawa is the only person Atsushi’s told about his hallucinations (and the only person other than Lucy and Fitzgerald of all people to have an idea of how bad the abuse Atsushi suffered at the orphanage really was), but Ranpo, Dazai, and Kyouka are probably aware of them to various extents.

Ranpo is Ranpo and has probably noticed how Atsushi’s eyes will absently drift to empty spaces in the office sometimes before he comes back to himself and snaps his eyes back to his work. He may or may not have guessed the cause. If he has figured it out he doesn’t know what to do about it.

Kyouka lives with Atsu and Dazai is his mentor. There’s no way they haven’t noticed that something is wrong with him even if they don’t know what it is.
