Translation: What a shitshow. This years Eurovision has gone to hell. And it's first and foremost the EBU's fault.

Throughout the course of the Eurovision Song Contest, the EBU has acted as if they live in a parallel universe. Eurovision is one thing, the world outside something else. The EBU has stuck its head in the sand. Shoved the problem under the rug. Held their hands over their ears and shouted LALALALALA. They appear to have done everything they can to pretend it's possible to hold an apolitical event in a world that's on fire. We have come together to be "united by music", they say, but the sharpshooters on Malmö's rooftops have nothing to do with us! In its struggle to remain apolitical, the EBU has become like a small fascist state in itself, where the artists' space for expression and action has been reduced as much as the undergarments of the Spanish dancers. It is reprehensible.

May 2024 - With Eurovision coming up, and the fascist state of Israel being allowed to pinkwash their genocide of the Palestinian people once again, let's remember Icelandic anti-capitalist band Hatari who showed their support for Palestine in 2019 when Eurovision was being held in Tel Aviv, and were fined for it (€5000,- lmao). Later that same month they brought out the pro-Palestinian song Klefi / Samed (صامد) together with Palestinian artist Bashar Murad.

anyway, the BDS movement is calling for a boycott of Eurovision 2024!

I am reactivating an account that has been dead for 10+ years to inform everyone of what is happening.

Israel will win Eurovision 2024.

After tonight's semifinal, the Italian broadcaster RAI accidentally released the results of their televote, normally this only happens after the grand final so as not to influence voting.

Israel won the televote with 40%.

This can be compared with Ukraine winning the Italian televote in their 2022 semifinal with something like 25%.

This can almost certainly be guaranteed to be replicated in every voting country on Saturday which means that Israel is likely to max out the amount of televotes they could receive.

This is not necessarily because the majority of people watching are in support of them, but rather because pro-Israeli votes will be concentrated to one (1) song while the anti-Israeli vote will be watered down between the remaining 25 songs.

The only way that Israel will lose on Saturday is if they somehow are tanked by the jury vote, but the jury is essentially 180 individuals who themselves might vote pro-Israeli and their vote will carry an immense amount of power.

So the likelihood of Israel losing is essentially 0%, and Eurovision will be in absolute shambles and probably won't recover for years.

EBU did this to themselves by not banning Israel all the way back in January when the first protest lists started appearing.
