Queer Books Challenged in Florida Schools and Libraries
There are some affiliate links below in case you want to support MQH.
Gender Queer: A Memoir, Maia Kobabe: Now, Gender Queer is here. Maia's intensely cathartic autobiography charts eir journey of self-identity, which includes the mortification and confusion of adolescent crushes, grappling with how to come out to family and society, bonding with friends over erotic gay fanfiction, and facing the trauma and fundamental violation of pap smears.
The Color Purple, Alice Walker: Separated as girls, sisters Celie and Nettie sustain their loyalty to and hope in each other across time, distance and silence. Through a series of letters spanning nearly thirty years, first from Celie to God, then the sisters to each other despite the unknown, the novel draws readers into its rich and memorable portrayals of Celie, Nettie, Shug Avery and Sofia and their experience. The Color Purple broke the silence around domestic and sexual abuse, narrating the lives of women through their pain and struggle, companionship and growth, resilience and bravery.
Julián Is a Mermaid, Jessica Love: While riding the subway home from the pool with his abuela one day, Julián notices three women spectacularly dressed up. Their hair billows in brilliant hues, their dresses end in fishtails, and their joy fills the train car. When Julián gets home, daydreaming of the magic he's seen, all he can think about is dressing up just like the ladies in his own fabulous mermaid costume: a butter-yellow curtain for his tail, the fronds of a potted fern for his headdress. But what will Abuela think about the mess he makes -- and even more importantly, what will she think about how Julián sees himself? Mesmerizing and full of heart, Jessica Love's author-illustrator debut is a jubilant picture of self-love and a radiant celebration of individuality.
Drama: A Graphic Novel, Raina Telgemeier: Callie loves theater. And while she would totally try out for her middle school's production of Moon over Mississippi, she can't really sing. Instead she's the set designer for the drama department's stage crew, and this year she's determined to create a set worthy of Broadway on a middle-school budget. But how can she, when she doesn't know much about carpentry, ticket sales are down, and the crew members are having trouble working together? Not to mention the onstage AND offstage drama that occurs once the actors are chosen. And when two cute brothers enter the picture, things get even crazier!
Cemetery Boys, Aiden Thomas: Yadriel has summoned a ghost, and now he can't get rid of him. When his traditional Latinx family has problems accepting his true gender, Yadriel becomes determined to prove himself a real brujo. With the help of his cousin and best friend Maritza, he performs the ritual himself, and then sets out to find the ghost of his murdered cousin and set it free. However, the ghost he summons is actually Julian Diaz, the school's resident bad boy, and Julian is not about to go quietly into death. He's determined to find out what happened and tie off some loose ends before he leaves. Left with no choice, Yadriel agrees to help Julian, so that they can both get what they want. But the longer Yadriel spends with Julian, the less he wants to let him leave.
I Am Billie Jean King, Brad Meltzer: This friendly, fun biography series focuses on the traits that made our heroes great--the traits that kids can aspire to in order to live heroically themselves. Each book tells the story of one of America's icons in a lively, conversational way that works well for the youngest nonfiction readers and that always includes the hero's childhood influences. At the back are an excellent timeline and photos. This volume features Billie Jean King, the world champion tennis player who fought successfully for women's rights. From a young age, Billie Jean King loved sports--especially tennis! But as she got older, she realized that plenty of people, even respected male athletes, didn't take women athletes seriously. She set to prove them wrong and show girls everywhere that sports are for everyone, regardless of gender.
This One Summer, Mariko Tamaki: Every summer, Rose goes with her mom and dad to a lake house in Awago Beach. It's their getaway, their refuge. Rosie's friend Windy is always there, too, like the little sister she never had. But this summer is different. Rose's mom and dad won't stop fighting, and when Rose and Windy seek a distraction from the drama, they find themselves with a whole new set of problems. One of the local teens - just a couple of years older than Rose and Windy - is caught up in something bad... Something life threatening. It's a summer of secrets, and sorrow, and growing up, and it's a good thing Rose and Windy have each other.
Marriage of a Thousand Lies, Sj Sindu: Lucky and her husband, Krishna, are gay. They present an illusion of marital bliss to their conservative Sri Lankan-American families, while each dates on the side. It's not ideal, but for Lucky, it seems to be working. She goes out dancing, she drinks a bit, she makes ends meet by doing digital art on commission. But when Lucky's grandmother has a nasty fall, Lucky returns to her childhood home and unexpectedly reconnects with her former best friend and first lover, Nisha, who is preparing for her own arranged wedding with a man she's never met.
And Tango Makes Three, Peter Parnell: At the penguin house at the Central Park Zoo, two penguins named Roy and Silo were a little bit different from the others. But their desire for a family was the same. And with the help of a kindly zookeeper, Roy and Silo got the chance to welcome a baby penguin of their very own.
More Happy Than Not, Adam Silvera: In the months following his father's suicide, sixteen-year-old Aaron Soto can't seem to find happiness again, despite the support of his girlfriend, Genevieve, and his overworked mom. Grief and the smile-shaped scar on his wrist won't let him forget the pain. But when Aaron meets Thomas, a new kid in the neighborhood, something starts to shift inside him. Aaron can't deny his unexpected feelings for Thomas despite the tensions their friendship has created with Genevieve and his tight-knit crew. Since Aaron can't stay away from Thomas or turn off his newfound happiness, he considers taking drastic actions. The Leteo Institute's revolutionary memory-altering procedure will straighten him out, even if it means forgetting who he truly is.
Melissa, Alex Gino: When people look at Melissa, they think they see a boy named George. But she knows she's not a boy. She knows she's a girl.
Melissa thinks she'll have to keep this a secret forever. Then her teacher announces that their class play is going to be Charlotte's Web. Melissa really, really, REALLY wants to play Charlotte. But the teacher says she can't even try out for the part... because she's a boy.
With the help of her best friend, Kelly, Melissa comes up with a plan. Not just so she can be Charlotte -- but so everyone can know who she is, once and for all.
A Quick & Easy Guide to Queer & Trans Identities, Mady G, Jules Zuckerberg: In this quick and easy guide to queer and trans identities, cartoonists Mady G and Jules Zuckerberg guide you through the basics of the LGBT+ world! Covering essential topics like sexuality, gender identity, coming out, and navigating relationships, this guide explains the spectrum of human experience through informative comics, interviews, worksheets, and imaginative examples. A great starting point for anyone curious about queer and trans life, and helpful for those already on their own journeys!
This Book Is Gay, Juno Dawson: This candid, funny, and uncensored exploration of sexuality and what it's like to grow up LGBTQ also includes real stories from people across the gender and sexual spectrums, not to mention hilarious illustrations.
Little & Lion, Brandy Colbert: When Suzette comes home to Los Angeles from her boarding school in New England, she's isn't sure if she'll ever want to go back. L.A. is where her friends and family are (as well as her crush, Emil). And her stepbrother, Lionel, who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, needs her emotional support. But as she settles into her old life, Suzette finds herself falling for someone new...the same girl her brother is in love with. When Lionel's disorder spirals out of control, Suzette is forced to confront her past mistakes and find a way to help her brother before he hurts himself--or worse.
King and the Dragonflies, Kacen Callender: Twelve-year-old Kingston James is sure his brother Khalid has turned into a dragonfly. When Khalid unexpectedly passed away, he shed what was his first skin for another to live down by the bayou in their small Louisiana town. Khalid still visits in dreams, and King must keep these secrets to himself as he watches grief transform his family.
It would be easier if King could talk with his best friend, Sandy Sanders. But just days before he died, Khalid told King to end their friendship, after overhearing a secret about Sandy-that he thinks he might be gay. "You don't want anyone to think you're gay too, do you?"
Sorted: Growing Up, Coming Out, and Finding My Place: A Transgender Memoir, Jackson Bird: An unflinching and endearing memoir from LGBTQ+ advocate Jackson Bird about how he finally sorted things out and came out as a transgender man. When Jackson Bird was twenty-five, he came out as transgender to his friends, family, and anyone in the world with an internet connection. Day 26 | Day 28
31 days of FF 7 Headcanons: Day 27: Impact of Jenova
Bianca Moore’s fate was forever entangled with the malignancy of Jenova: a force she came to understand not as a mere entity, but as an ancient infection of mind, heart, and destiny. Unlike Shinra’s scientists who dissected Jenova’s flesh, Bianca’s education came through blood, betrayal, and survival. Her exposure to Jenova cells, forced upon her during the brutal experiments of Project N, an offshoot of the Jenova Project, fundamentally altered her body, mind, and soul.
Rather than collapse under the weight of both Jenova and Sephiroth's manipulation, Bianca evolved beyond Jenova’s design, forging a legacy fueled not by planetary annihilation, but by the twisted, fierce love that Jenova sought to corrupt.
Trigger Warnings: abduction, body horror, emotional manipulation, forced experimentation, graphic medical procedures, loss of autonomy, mind control, psychological trauma, violence
Bianca Moore’s understanding of Jenova is deeply tied to the unraveling of her fate. Though she never directly studied Jenova like Shinra's scientists did, Bianca came to know Jenova as a malignant force: an ancient parasite capable of infiltrating minds, reshaping wills, and corrupting destinies. To Bianca, Jenova is less a creature and more a system of manipulation, a cosmic infection that uses love, ambition, and pain to puppet others. She recognizes that Jenova did not merely influence Sephiroth’s descent. She constructed a framework that allowed his love and hatred to evolve into tools of domination. Bianca’s tragic understanding is that her bond with Sephiroth, once a genuine connection, became a highway for Jenova’s ancient will: a will Bianca now navigates with treacherous awareness.
Bianca’s encounter with Jenova cells was not voluntary. It was forced upon her during the brutal events of Project N. Hojo, obsessed with unlocking the full potential of alien, celestial, and demonic bloodlines, subjected Bianca to live dissection and genetic infusion, intertwining her essence with unstable S-cells and Jenova cells.
Physically, the exposure heightened her already volatile powers, destabilizing her ability to manipulate time, space, and reality. However, the physical mutations came with a price: her body became more unstable, shifting unpredictably between states of celestial sorrow and infernal rage until all that remained was her demonic cells as the alien DNA bonded with it. Mentally, the exposure planted seeds of obsession, sharpening her already intense emotions into something raw and terrifying.
The emotional impact of Jenova's influence was perhaps more profound than the physical. Bianca’s love for Sephiroth, which had once been a complicated but earnest metaphysical bond, twisted into an all-consuming devotion. The tragedy lies in how real her feelings remained, even as they were subtly steered by Jenova’s infection of Sephiroth’s mind and her own. She did not lose herself immediately. Instead, her fall was slow, suffused with the belief that she was choosing love and destiny. Jenova’s manipulation was never about erasing Bianca’s humanity. It was about corrupting her deepest emotions until they served an ancient, apocalyptic purpose, as Bianca would be able to spread the parasite across multiple dimensions and realities with Sephiroth protecting Bianca who now hosted an infection, as well as his own contaminated body.
Despite this corruption, Bianca ultimately transcended the role Jenova intended for her. When Bianca created Aurora and Lucien to assuage the guilt she felt over using the Remnants and leading them to a second Reunion, she did not birth empty vessels of destruction. Bianca birthed gods-in-the-making with wills and loves of their own.
In choosing to protect her children, even from Sephiroth’s cruelty when necessary, Bianca broke free of Jenova’s intended cycle. She became a new infection: one born not of mindless planetary consumption, but of fierce emotion, maternal protection, and deliberate, transformative wrath. The galaxy would still burn. That much was certain, but it would carry her name, not Jenova’s, as its terrifying ruler, giving birth to the dark queen Sephiroth molded her to be: a being terrifying as the dawn.
In the end, Bianca’s experience with Jenova reshaped her permanently, but it did not defeat her. While she was used, twisted, and scarred physically and emotionally, she also learned, adapted, and evolved into something greater. Bianca is a living testament to Jenova’s greatest failure: the underestimation of corrupted but resilient emotion.
Her fall was not a surrender, but a metamorphosis: one that rewrote the legacy Jenova sought to impose. Through the burning remains of worlds, Bianca walks, no longer as a puppet of Jenova, Sephiroth, or even fate, but as a sovereign Queen of a new destiny. A destiny shaped by love, vengeance, and the ruthless will to create anew.

It’s finally time for my art summary and I decided to throw my art vs artist 2024 in here as well! I also made two alternative versions for the art summary and art vs artist thing because…well…I think these summarize my 2024 perfectly sdkjskdj
I’m always really thrilled to make these art summaries at the end of the year and reflect on how the year went down. One of my main goals for 2024 was to finally launch the first chapter of my webcomic. Unfortunately, I got some health problems in the beginning of the year and after that, I started to dm my very first D&D campaign and…well…accidentally got obsessed with Blauauge, one of the OCs of the campaign that I completely lost focus on all my art goals skdjskdjsd
Homeboy ruined my 2024, made me forgot to work on my comic and made me start drawing sm*t ksjdskdjsd Jokes aside, DMing is really fun and made me try a lot of new things and expand my creativity. Artwise, 2024 was really, really fun for me, I forgot how much fun it is to be completely immersed in something and I just had so many ideas and thoughts and feelings and love about this blue tiefling.
While I’ve struggled a lot in the beginning (and still do) because I felt super cringe and ashamed to be so obsessed with a character no one knows/cares about, I slowly started to understand that I’ve always been doing art for myself and only for myself and that’s what I like most about art. It’s okay that not everyone is as hyped as me about my OC and the most important thing is that I have fun. Nontheless, I’m super thankful that people actually started to be interested in him so thanks everyone for sticking up with my unhinged OC brainrot 🫶💙 Let’s see how long it will stay since my mini campaign will end soon and we’ll continue our main D&D campaign again. So maybe 2025 we will finally be free of the blue himbo tiefling lmao.
Blauauge brainrot aside, this year I was able to gather a lot of experiences at tabling at artist alleys (8 in total!!!). I had so much fun, I learned so, so much and I met some really cool people and even made some friends. It was truly an amazing experience and I feel like I grew alot. That being said, I also realized that being a convention artist is EXTREMELY time-consuming and takes a lot of energy. Combined with my full-time job and dming, I barely had time for my other creative projects like my comic or my youtube channel and I feel so exhausted.
Looking at my goals from last year, I achieved one of them (attending more artist alleys) but for the other goals, I completely neglected youtube and I don’t feel ready for an art shop at all RIP + I really wanted be better at the fundamentals and I guess I got a bit better at anatomy because of Blauauge (and Blauauge sm*t) so I guess that kinda fits LMAO?? I also start putting more effort into backgrounds for my comic and I’m thinking more about composition while drawing but it’s still a long way for me and I really have to actively study because I feel like I’m at a step in my art journey again where I feel kinda stuck. However, something that really surprised me is that put a lot of my attention on my coloring and I find it way more enjoyable than last year. Also, just a side note, but I’m halfway done with my internship/apprentinceship and I am kinda proud of how much I’vee improved at graphic design and my branding, hehe.
Next year, I’ll TRY (lmao) to attend less conventions. I’m also on a good track working on my comic again SO THIS YEAR, I PROMISE TO GET THAT FIRST CHAPTER DONE!! and I’ll also try to make another youtube video again and maybe even start livestreaming? (no promises lol)
Thanks for liking my art and wishing you all lots of energy for 2025! 💙✨

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you! get to know your mutuals and followers (ू•‧̫•ू⑅)♡
Aww, I love positivity asks! I can't say mine are in any way profound, but:
My loved ones. Cheesy, I know. Shout-out to my partner who does have a Tumblr account but refuses to be perceived because I know he'll read this and appreciate the fact I didn't tag him. I've been asked before how on earth I've been in a relationship with one person for over half my life and that's simple: I fell in love with my best friend. 💖 Also huge shoutout to @riftdancing who will be perceived because she's the platonic love of my life and, without her, I would not be who I am today. These two have seen me at my literal worst and stuck by me — I love them to bits! There's also my FC members/close friends @lightwrought / @gaygentofchaos / @whirlwyrm / @snakemoltsiren / @swingbeard / @dragons-ire / other people I have missed and/or wouldn't like to be tagged but know you are included because I love you. IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW. Also everyone in Seafloor!
Music. I've always loved music, but I really only got into music and listening to different things later in life! Sleep Token fundamentally altered my brain chemistry and I will thrust them on anyone who will listen (start with Sundowning through to Take Me Back to Eden if you want the whole ~experience~ but Jaws is also a good separate introduction). I've also come to love Crywolf, Ashnikko, Bad Omens, as well as old faithfuls like Red, Evanescence, Halsey, etc.
My cat. She's not really my cat, but she adopted me. Ratticus le Catticuses the third of her name; brat cat, rat cat; little goblin; my little baby girl, love of my life. (Her name is Lucy).
Graphics design/creativity. I make it no secret my favourite part of my irl work is when I can make a brochure/pamphlet/poster. I don't profess to be an absolute master in it, and I'm entirely self-taught, but there is something about making something better. It's the same with GPOSING and the like. I don't do it often, but my edits are there. There are people in the community that use the little dividers I put together in Canva. It makes me happy!
My current mental health/personal journey. I'm in a really good spot mentally. My diagnosis has changed my life, and I was already on a good trajectory with my personal mantra/outlook on life prior to it. A few years go I was extremely depressed/anxious, I had a lot of trauma/paranoia around my spaces, and acted in ways I'm not proud of. I've reached out and reconciled a lot of it, and it's allowed me to engage with this community and my personal projects in a manner that's healthy and engaging for me. I was in a spot of ~drama~ recently (which I won't get into — that's another personal choice I made to keep things between relevant parties) and, rather than freaking out and thinking everyone hated me... I just dealt with it. I took all sides, formulated my opinions and blocked the people I didn't want to deal with. I was SO proud/happy with myself — I still am! It's not world-ending like it used to feel and that's so freeing for me as someone who used to be a chronic people-pleaser/conflict averse. I still want to try to be the latter, but I really believe the manta of 'be kind, take no shit'. It's done wonders for my happiness.
This got really long, I appreciate anyone who got to the bottom! I'll send these out to ten people from my permanent interaction call because I think that's nice. Thank you @disciple-of-frost for sending this in!! ✨

i beat world of goo 2 last weekend. phenomenal experience! absolutely worth the hype and my $30
i took a far-from-exhaustive set of screenshots of some standout times from my playthrough that left me in awe (all relatively spoiler free)

so i'm no video game reviewer, but i'll spill out some thoughts i have. spoiler warning from here on out!
world of goo 2 thoughts
this really doesn't need saying, because it's self-evident, but the game is gorgeous. literally oozing with completely unique and original art on every screen, including all the insane reflections and goo shapes and typography and artstyle shifts. i spent the start of every level just panning around admiring what i was looking at
on top of that, it sounds amazing. the game is about 6 hours if you go quick, but it's set to a score with a combined length of almost 2 hours. the sheer density of music in this game is breathtaking already, and the fact that it's absolutely world-class is the bonus on top
the level design is everything i expected from this team - a series of elegant, concept-driven scenarios that bounce rapidly from mechanic to mechanic without being afraid of underdeveloping any of them, in a way that feels exceptionally hand-crafted and curated. i felt so much care placed in every individual level, even if that meant there weren't so many of them
the emphasis on fluid simulation was especially cool - and i don't mean that in a "oh it's very technical and innovative and etc", as lots of programmer-y graphics-y gameplay elements tend to present themselves. the design does a really really good job at reigning in the inherent chaos of liquid physics and making it do a single, elegant thing that's exactly what you expect in every situation
the story of world of goo 2 is very windy and adventurous, but it's still cohesive! one of my worries going into this was that the story was going to lean more abstract / unresolutive, similar to past tomorrow corporation games, but for this they managed to craft a story arc that makes sense while still being fundamentally unpredictable - you can never tell what will happen next or in what direction things are going
chapter 4 was definitely a risky move! it panned out for me specifically but i can understand people not appreciating the tonal shift and/or the detective noir stuff. i thought the noir levels ran a risk of being too slow-paced relative to the other levels, but the payoff of the chapter finale really sold the whole thing for me - that was extremely cool. (i suspect they actually cut a set of levels from the chapter - ones corresponding to world of goo 6, mentioned in the finale level. now i'm just curious what it was...)
i think calling it "chapter 5" rather than "epilogue" in this game ran a risk of bad expectation setting, where people might be disappointed to see a chapter with only 4 levels, rather than a dozen and a half. i personally saw this coming so i wasn't bothered, although i felt the levels could have stepped it up challenge-wise, to feel like more fitting send-offs
i haven't hunted ocds seriously yet, but i expect to give it a spin sometime! maybe after more people upload videos of their crazy strategies. going for ocds lengthens the runtime of the game significantly - they're not trivial!
excellent sequel overall. it's great if you're going into it expecting exactly what world of goo 1 was, just with different, more 2020s ideas - it doesn't overdeliver or underdeliver compared to that.

All the World's a Page

I've always been a fast reader. Just earlier this year I had finished Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile in under a week. With the recent pre-beat of Murders at Karlov Manor coming earlier this month, I had been contemplating the mystery genre and fiction as a whole. While I haven't been reading as often as I would like, I still believe that books are wonderful experiences, and that reading is a fundamental way of inheriting knowledge as a whole. Which is why I would like this week's contest to be the following:
Design a non-UB Card Based on Something from a Novel
Now, I would like to state right up front that given the fact that fiction stories cover a wide swath of topics, from the relatively tame to the extremely graphic, so for everyone's sake please keep your entries age rating relatively in-line with Magic's. I understand that the game has some stuff already baked in, but I would rather keep this tame and open for as many people involved, fair-runners and fair-entrants alike.
I would also like to mention the non-Universes Beyond clause, which is a part of the challenge of this week's contest. While there are explicit fiction references in Magic (such as Shark Typhoon being tied to the movie Sharknado (2013)), I also don't mind less specific characterizations like Curse of Obsession being paired with Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart or Hollow Trees paired with Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. Just please make sure to supply me with the book you're encoding onto a card.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask questions in the discord's #fair-talk channel, and happy designing!

Notions Sale – Quilting Essentials on Discount
Between fabric wish lists, pattern purchases, and tools calling your name, quilting budgets fill up quickly. That’s why keeping an eye out for notions on sale helps maximize investments in the craft. Sample notions sale items that no quilter should pass up:
Quality Batting
The right batting keeps your quilt light and lofty and helps it drape beautifully. Splurge on wool which molds perfectly to texture and traps air for incredible warmth. Cotton batting offers a perfect balance of affordability, stability and durability. Look for loft, weight and weave specifics when comparing.
Rotary Cutting Supplies
Invest in a good rotary cutting set, including quality mats that guarantee precision cutting and longer blade life. Dull blades require more pressure and can distort fabric grain. Grab discounted blades and specialty creative grid rulers you’ve been eyeing!
Templates and Tools
Build your quilting toolbox with marked-down acrylic templates for flawless piecing. Hoops and frames on sale help tackle big projects. Grab adhesive spray and basting pins for temporary sticking power. Wonder clips, seam rippers, labeling tapes and more utilize sales to stock up on handy notions that make quilting efficient.
Threads and More
Keep an eagle eye out for coveted Aurifil 50wt cotton threads on sale, which prevent knotting or breakage even at high speeds. Metallic threads, pretty embroidery floss, washaway fabric markers and stabilizers at discounted prices make delightful impulse purchases!
Enthralling Quilt Patterns – On Sale Wonders
Quilters thrive on the exhilaration of choosing enthralling quilt patterns challenging their skills while sparking creativity. And coveted patterns by famed designers, especially when discounted, sell out quicker than quilting shops can re-stock them.
Check out these delightful quilt patterns on sale now before they vanish:
Modern and Geometric Quilt Patterns
Graphic designs sporting bold colors, asymmetry and negative spaces continue trending popular. Modern quilt patterns on sale spotlight triangle playing, improv piecing, paper piecing and fussy cutting skills minus set-in-stone rules.
Festive Quilt Patterns for Sale
The holidays see charming Christmas quilt patterns for sale marked down featuring holiday motifs, traditional blocks dressed in reds and greens or whimsical designs guaranteed to amplify the Christmas spirit! Halloween, fall and winter patterns also see neat discounts.
Beginner-Friendly Quilt Patterns
Looking to skill up? Beginner friendly quilt patterns on sale guide newbie quilters through fundamentals like piecing blocks, noodlehead continuous lines or straight line quilting before attempting intermediate techniques later. Master the basics stress-free on a discount!
Outside the Big 4
Love quilting creativity minus harsh rules? Improvisational and liberated quilt patterns on sale offer unstructured guidelines focusing more on texture, colors and emotion versus strict uniformity. Experiment freely with imperfect precision piecing or liberal interpretations of traditional blocks just for fun.
Mini Quilt Patterns
Short on time or space for a king-sized quilt? Check out mini quilt patterns on sale using charm packs. Ranging from 12 to 24 inches square, mini quilts work up quickly as gifts, dainty wall hangings, potholders, and more. The smaller scale also allows playing with bold colors and designs in less intimidating ways.
As appealing as free quilt patterns from blogs and websites may seem, investing small sums in tried and tested designs with clear instructions goes a long way in ensuring quilting success. Download eBooks with 15+ patterns or pick single designs featuring your favorite techniques on sale. And remember to factor in batting and backing yardage requirements too when budgeting.
With reams of glorious fabrics, notions and patterns discounted, this exhilarating quilting sale promises to step up your quilting game!
