Do you have any OCs? feel free to talk about them if you do
What was the first piece of media you engaged with on the internet? Are you still interested in it?
What's something you made or did that you're proud of?
What's something that made you smile this month?
No I don't have any OCs I like my characters prebuilt!
The first internet fandom I was in was for Fruits Basket (manga)! It still holds a lot of room in my heart especially the characters but I don't really interact with it. It got a new anime adaptation in 2019 and I watched the first two seasons and interacted with the fandom but they had left out what to me were key moments in the 3rd season and left in some things that were a bit outdated. I also just don't really like the anime format, it feels like I'm watching something in slow motion? Idk how else to describe it but we could do this at 2x speed and it would feel better. I would like to reread the manga at some point, I'm pretty sure it is something that would still hold up. It's themes and messages feel like they raised me tbh
I was telling my cowriter this recently but the fanfic we wrote The Long Way Home! We had a fair amount of people tell us the story resonated with them and meant a lot and honestly reading those comments had me near tears, I'm glad I could be a part of making something positive/meaningful
My other would be my animal behavior course I taught, I had some students say it was their favorite class in college or thank me for the format. I love getting people excited about learning!
Only yesterday I adopted a puppy with my partner, she is actually asleep on my lap right now, her name is Daisy and I was near tears of happiness driving home with her, lots of smiles just in the last two days

Episode 11 of fruit basket did not disappoint. I think the one thing I was kind of neutral on is how each members bond broke. But I love how each one of them broke and where they were and who they were with. The fact that Kisa was with Hiro, Ayame was with Mine and Rin and Haru were together. that it literally went with what the manga did.
( side note: I said that because sometimes they don’t do what manga does and they put their spin on it or they’ll take out things, you know what i mean. )
but the one thing that I was surprised about in a good way was that Tohru and Akito truly did become friends or took those steps to become friends and do what friends do. and get the closeness that akito craved through out her whole life.
I think that the true story of the Cat Zodiac and the true meaning behind it was revealed and that LITERALLY everyone took it in such a negative way that changed the story to make the cat seem like the black sheep/monster of the clan when in reality the true meaning of the cats words was “ We don’t have to immortalize it when in reality if it’s meant to be we will find each other again in death or in the next life”. That was my interpretation of it was.
But the fact that they fucking misinterpreted his words at the first banquet really pisses me off because what the fuck. “Immortalizing friendships or bonds makes it less authentic than having real ones and if it’s meant to be they’ll find each other in the next life ”. I already said that previously but the fact that they shunned him and thus creating his “real form” from that hatred that they put on him like what the fuck like what the actual fuck.
Anyway……
All i see now is growth, love, freedom and happiness for everyone. I also hope that they’ll release OVA’s that are set in the future because I would really love to fucking see that.

Hello again everyone!
I have been a way a little recently, but I want to share a list with you of things I hope to post/accomplish.
• Photosets from season 3 episodes 12 & 13 (i know, I'm behind 😔)
• Fruits Basket official collaboration and promotional images
• My intro of how Tohru and I relate, and why I feel qualified to write from her perspective
• Meta on each episode starting from season 1 episode 1 (this will be gradual since it will take a lot of time)
• Meta about the characters (will also take time)
• Possibly photosets from the first 2 seasons, and the first few season 3 episodes I haven't covered. (also gradual AND if I can manage)
I hope you'll stay with me on this journey even though the anime has now concluded. I know we will have lots of fun along the way! Feel free to send in asks (as long as their Fruits Basket related) or DM me for discussion. Since I am a 27 year old female, I do prefer if you only DM me if you're 18 or older. Please respect this, as this could potentially get me into a lot of trouble.
Love,
Tohru's twin 🍙

While not the only ones I’ll be watching, these are my six most anticipated anime of Spring 2019.
In order from top left to bottom right.
Kimetsu no Yaiba:
Don’t really know much about this show or its source material, but the fact that ufotable is working on this is enough to get me hyped for it. The animation alone enough reason for me to watch this show. Usually when ufotable can balance their amazing animation with good storytelling is when they’re at their best.
Isekai Quartet :
A crossover featuring four of the best Isekai series around? SIGN ME UP! With the episodes being fifteen minutes long and featuring a total of twenty-seven characters there is a lot to look forward to with this show.
One Punch Man Season 2:
I haven’t seen any of the PVs or trailers, I already knew that the animation was going to take a dip from the first season after it was revealed which studio is working on it. I’ve got nothing against J.C. Staff, they’re actually one of my better-liked studios, but after seeing how Toaru Majutsu no Index III turned out I’ve decided to keep my expectations in check. I’m being hopeful but also realistic at the same time.
Bungou Stray Dogs 3rd Season:
More Bungou Stray Dogs can only be a good thing. The anime series seems to be improving as it goes on so one could say that season 3 will be as good, if not better, than season 2. Studio Bones doesn’t really need to do much in order to make this upcoming season a success, they just need to stick to what worked in the previous season and build off that.
Fruits Basket (2019) :
I’ve never seen the previous iteration of this series or read the source material. From what I’ve heard this new show is going to cover the entire manga from start to finish, something the original anime didn’t do. I’ve heard good things about the original, that coupled with the fact that TMS Entertainment is behind this one is enough to pique my interest.
Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 Part 2:
I’m not really sure what to say about Attack on Titan at this point. As long as this new season has cool action scenes and better pacing than the second season then it’ll turn out alright or even better. The first part of the third season that aired last year was without a doubt better than the previous season, if this second half continues that trend than it should be an interesting watch.

All Ive ever taken Fruits Basket for is some mediocre shoujou semi-harem anime and to see you out here talking abt the nuance and intricate implications of the actions characters make feels so surreal. If you were to compare it to another show/manga in tone/plot/writing etc, which one would it be?
thats a really hard question tbh... fruits basket has such a unique voice and a unique message that its really difficult for me to compare it to other manga. it is ostensibly a shoujo manga, and has all the surface-level trappings (two beautiful guys in a budding romance with the main protag, the protag being a sweet and bubbly girl, LOTS of flowery language, etc), but the actual subject matter and approach it takes is much closer to a seinen manga than anything else.
it somewhat reminds me of a manga i read years ago called “translucent” which, like fruits basket, has a silly basic plot on the surface - in furuba its the whole turning into animals thing, but in translucent its that the main character has a disease which has made her translucent and which threatens to make her permanently invisible. again, both of these sound VERY goofy on the surface, but the actual subject matter is treated very seriously and becomes a genuine concern as the story goes on. this is more true in the case of furuba, as the more that is revealed about the nature of the curse and the twisted inner workings of the sohma family, the more serious the story becomes.
and im not kidding u when i say shit gets heavy. there are multiple scenes of several characters being abused, traumatized, and hurt - INCLUDING the protag - and these events dont just exist in a vacuum. they come up repeatedly. trauma doesnt just go away because the main character is nice; it takes literal, in-canon years for the characters to work through their issues, and its not an easy path. there is a lot of hurt and pain throughout. in fact, the anime is about to make it to the 3rd act of the manga, which is when some of the most brutal shit happens (and for the record, by this point in both the manga and anime weve already seen multiple instances of child abuse, forced isolation, and attempted murder). so yeah furuba is definitely not the mediocre shoujo manga it appears to be on the surface LMAO
im not gonna pretend it doesnt have issues cause it DOES (primarily that the mangaka just absolutely INSISTS on having creepy age gap relationships! like a LOT of them!), but it is probably one of the most accurate and accessible depictions of familial abuse for its target age group. if you can stomach the big age gaps (which are mostly in the latter half of the series) and dont mind the tropey shoujo stuff in the beginning (which really peters out after the first half of the first season) and are interested in a rich story with a lot of nuance, i highly recommend fruits basket!! it has so much attention to detail and little, key moments, that i think it really deserves a chance if ur into that sort of stuff.
personally id recommend reading the manga first if u can, since the anime is MUCH more enjoyable seeing the little details they carried over from the manga, but it is quite long (it had 22 volumes, so probably around 150 chapters) so i understand if youd rather jump right into the anime instead. if you do, DO NOT START WITH FURUBA 2001 - the mangaka HATED this anime and she couldnt stand the guy that directed it because he did a piss poor job capturing the details and made it a very basic shoujo manga instead (i still like furuba 2001 but its more for nostalgia reasons LMAO). watch fruits basket 2019; it was made under the direction of the mangaka herself and is much more faithful to the manga.

I know I have l shitted on akito throughout this whole series but 3x09 I am just really happy about how far she came so far. As in from the time she was going to take her hand to the time that she went to see Tohru in the hospital. She’s willing to make amends and apologize for putting people through all this shit the only thing I was mad about essentially is that i know people grow and you know realize their mistakes and everything but the fact that she was in this whole the world revolves around me I can bring pain on others but they can’t do the same to me type of aura she had is what pisses me off. I know that people do grow and everything with their emotions, thinking and everything. And when people meet others they expand their social skills, emotions and everything. I think now that she’s more willing to have Tohru as a friend and not as an enemy is really gonna open up her mind and letting herself be vulnerable to those emotions that she was suppressing.
But I’m also happy for Tohru having that more personal revelation of that it’s OK to open up to people and love them just as equally or more than her mom. The fact that she’s not replacing her mom but just adding someone of equal importance is okay. that even though they haven’t officially confessed but they somehow on a mutual level did confess.
And for Shigure Is that I know a lot of people have different perspectives of him but for me I never truly hated or disliked him. For me it was more of you have to really see past that , I’m not validating that way he did it was right it was just another way to do it. He was manipulative and toxic, if you wanna call it that, but it was all just to really show Akito the reality of the world. And what really made me realize that is that in 3x06 that really he was talking about it’s the first time all the zodiacs are all together and its the final banquet and the fact that nobody really except for a Hatori knew about his plan really puts in perspective that it wasn’t just Rin and Tohru trying to find a way to break the curse that he did really have a plan, not a conventional or a good way to go about it but it was a plan.
Also the underlying fact about akito putting that label of a father figure, subconsciously, on someone is some thing she shouldn’t have gotten her hopes up about. Even though Akito really wanted that father figure that she never truly had she shouldn’t really apply it to those males figures as a default. Shigure never intended to be put in that role but she did it anyway and applied it to Hatori, Kureno and Shigure. Kureno for that side of a father that is loving and caring, Hatori being that person to checks in see how they’re doing and Shigure it being that person that gave the attention aspect.
But obviously towards the end she had more of an epiphany/realization of love comes in different forms and same with friendships. I’m not fully sure if she thought of them as father figures but that’s just my take on it because of how she lashed out at them when they found love or a different type of relationship outside of her. Hatori with Kana, Kureno and his bond breaking earlier and shigure moving out of the estate(?).
It is going to take a while for the family members that was part of the zodiacs to really fully trust and move forward but baby steps.

god its really so fucking weird like... it really does seem like the rug was pulled out from under fruits basket season 3 cuz like season 1 and 2 absolutely are paced and laid out under the assumption season 3 will be a 25 episode season just like the earlier ones like everyone was noting how they kept the kyo looking uncomfortable at kyokos grave part that had been cut from 2001 cuz well it wouldnt be addressed in 2001 so its not important and like much as i dislike the weird drama of adding the extra reason of kyo and tohru cant be together even tho theyre both fully aware of their feelings like 2/3rds of the way thru the series is cuz kyo feels like he killed tohrus mom is like sooo dumb and i hate tohru having to like choose her mom or kyo its dumb and so pointless cuz they have a really good reason to not be together already!!! which is that if the curse isnt broken kyo will literally never be able to see tohru again and be locked away after he graduates thats plenty high stakes but like ok stepping away from that soap box again all signs point to the assumption to adapt that storyline when they did the grave visit scene back in season 1 and like there were a number of episodes in the first two seasons that were absolutely padded for time and didnt need to be that long the hatori and mayu one is whats coming to mind first like again that could have been cut down by like 15 minutes there were so many ways that earlier parts could have been cut like damn a lot of anime that get re-adapted and have like the early part faithfully done kinda rush the first season a bit to get to the content that was never touched on and like while i dont love that its frankly a better option than u know totally fucking up the ending!!!! like the only thing that maybe indicates they did know they werent getting a 25 episode final season was like the fact they cut tohrus parents backstory but that could also be cuz its genuinely one of the most fucked up parts of the manga and like honestly really should have been either scrapped or totally redone cuz uh HOLY SHIT truly the one silver lining of all this my god but like ok if they got this news u know as they were writing season 3 that really does not excuse the frankly bizarre choices they made this season like why in the hell did they think we needed an entire half an episode dedicated to the yuki fan club when we had a very similar conversation with yuki and motoko last season!! and like why on EARTH did they spend so much time on the graduation stuff because if they had cut that bit it would make it so much easier to just kinda let the timeline slip around and leave things a bit ambiguous of when we are so u could sort of feel like maybe a lot of time passed that we didnt see so it doesnt feel so insanely jarring like the momiji episode just catapulting us 8 months forward in time or something like WHAT and i still just dont get it cuz i really do feel like the ren and akira story and akitos backstory would have fit so much better with all the other events like why botch momijis ending and like confuse everything cuz like the box was a bit of a plot then dropped like my god whats happening love and light i feel like the next few episodes really are gonna be a shitshow and thats not even getting to how many kyo scenes they have cut truly... a nightmare ok this was so long if u read all this i love u oh to have the hope and excitement i had back in 2019 when i was like wow... this version of fruits basket is gonna be better than the manga... the time before the season 1 finale an innocent and hopeful time
