have you seen the new nightwear groovy? alas, the dream of the animal onesies or the pillow fight groovy are dashed 😞 - i have yet to see the card's story but i assume that yuu is interviewing the boys again this year like the birthday boy cards cause there's no other characters in the card (?)

I too am disappointed that we didn't get a big full-on pillow fight. 😔 but he DOES battle by throwing his pillow, so at least we get some cushion action in there!

it looks like this round of birthday cards aren't going to be interviews/conversations, at least not for most of it -- the first part was Jamil talking to Ortho (who he duos with) about what his dormmates are doing for his birthday (they're setting up a surprise party/parade (because Kalim) but they're doing an extremely bad job of it and he's having to go around making sure that they don't screw it up) (being Jamil is suffering). second part was Jamil talking to his (unvoiced mob) roommate and answering Crowley's School Improvement Survey (he wants bigger bathrooms) (also a fridge in his room) (actually, make that a whole kitchen) (but mostly bigger bathrooms). then third part was his ~morning routine~, aka talking to himself about his hair and makeup, as one does in a visual novel. it's less cohesive than the previous birthday stories, but it's all pretty chill and there's some fun stuff in there! (Najma sent him hair stuff for his birthday that's way too fancy and he can't decide if she did it to annoy him or not. truly, being Jamil is indeed suffering.)

if all the cards are going to be about nightly/morning routine though, we're going to absolutely melt when we get to Vil, brace yourselves

that's at least three wetv shows this year (knock knock boys, i saw you in my dream, and now monster next door) that have quietly emphasized platonic, young adult friends talking openly about sex, wanting sex, being sexually active, teasing each other about sex, etc. it's not just about having a sex-positive message, it's the casual and direct nature of these interactions—that it's not just a wink-wink nudge-nudge moment, that the script makes it feel lived-in, like these characters have achieved a level of genuine intimacy that often goes missing in romance-focused shows. maybe revolutionary is an overstatement but it feels important nonetheless—a small detail that adds some refreshing realism to the BL fantasyscape.

The thing that freaks me out the most about the floormasters in totk (at least, i assume that's what they're called), is that there seems to be absolutely no warning whatsoever when and where they spawn... they just appear out of nowhere while you're exploring, and hunt you down with that horrifying music. What's even worse is that, should you attempt to snap a picture of them for your compendium... Nothing happens. It's like they're not even there; the purah pad doesn't register them. It's like link is battling his fucking sleep paralysis demons.

Or, an even more compelling theory- they represent the evil that resides in his arm. No one else can see it, and it doesn't show up even on high-tech devices. There's no compendium entry about it, no one else seems to think it exists. So why is it haunting link so? It's the gloom in his hand, manifesting in his mind as arms literally reaching from the depths to drag him under.

i'm sorry but to me taigen is a clingy and submissive and obsessed desperate top. a top who is smitten and enamoured and absolutely whipped.

we don't see it yet in the show because we've only seen him with akemi who is 1) a woman and 2) not someone he's obsessed with (their relationship was for their mutual benefit and convenience and not out of love).

but mizu is 1) not a woman*, and 2) someone that taigen is obsessed with.

so to me taigen fucks mizu while moaning and crying and whimpering about how good she feels. he would desperately wanna cuddle after they're done. he'd whine and bitch when mizu tries to push him away. she laughs at him and calls him ridiculous btw.

* by not a woman, i'm referring to how i interpret her as nonbinary. as in both a woman and a man but also neither but also something in between. regardless, taigen's attraction to her makes him gay.
