I hate where modern technology is going. I sound like an old woman but I dislike wireless, I hate the bloat and spyware that seems to be normal. This is why I support and use libreboot. Hell, even why I use Gentoo and why I love openbsd.

That's a great question, but it's missing a couple of key details. First of all, what flavor of mint were you using? If you were using cinnamon, I recommend the xfce variant. If you are willing to give it a shot, a WM may just be a great choice. My personal favorite is bspwm. In terms of lightweight distros, Arch and Gentoo are great choices, despite my problems with them in the past.

It's super weird which issues are & aren't a pain in the ass for me on my new gentoo PC:

Wifi card doesn't work? Just change the PCIe slot! Fixed!

No desktop environment on boot? I forgot to install KDE Plasma, that's on me. Fixed!

PC keeps suddenly shutting off & rebooting? That's expected, I'm trying to undervolt my CPU lmao

Want to simply adjust the EQ on your new headphones? Go fuck yourself. Struggle to make a Windows 11 VM & install G Hub only to find out that the EQ tools are garbage. Then install EasyEffects (twice, first through the gentoo repo then through Flatpak because I'm NOT compiling webkit again) which works well but it won't autostart for some reason, so you have to run it manually after login every single time. Die a thousand deaths.

Installing Gentoo on my ThinkPad T420 rn (lord help it). I think I just get so fed up with other distros that I just say fuck it and go back to Gentoo.

Arch always breaks, the "prebuilt" ones are nice but they don't feel mine.

Purchasing a new laptop is fucking stupid. Go buy a ThinkPad T430 from some random eBay seller and install Arch Linux on it like the trans catgirl that you are.
