The lisp experience.
* (Oh, these parentheses I keep opening?
* (I'm collecting them.
* (Right now, I'm 1,762 parentheses deep.
* (Oh, my precious parentheses... (I don't ever want to close them!

One of the most Internet things, known since the early days of the millennium, is the tendency for some people to read a public request for something with specific and inflexible criteria, and respond with a recommendation which fits exactly none of the requirements, just because the responder likes the thing they're recommending.
I mean obviously this is a people-in-general thing, but like ... y'know? Before the internet, you didn't have Widespread Access To Large Numbers Of People. Now, people who want advice get exposed to enough people at once that it becomes statistically fairly likely that if (for example, based on a true story) you request recommendations for a notetaking app which can synchronize between your desktop computer and your phone and which will notify you at specified times as a reminder for todo lists, then someone will show up in the comments who suggests EMACS. The stated justification was that it might be theoretically possible to get EMACS to do one or more of those things using hypothetical modifications or add-ons, but like c'mon, you clearly don't care about the actual stated requirements, you just really want to recommend EMACS right this minute.

VIM author Bram Moolenar has died.
Moolenar has been developing the vim text editor for 20 years and encouraged users to donate to children in Uganda. He was a living legend, and will remain a legend as long as programming itself exists.
Rest in peace king.
