i just switched my browser to firefox (from brave bc i’m a freak and they were kind of changing the game tracking protection wise like 4 years ago) and it took a mere 15 minutes to port everything over perfectly ✨ i sound like an ad sorry lmao but i’ve been wanting to do this forever and was prevented by needing chromium’s ability to use different profiles in the same browser for my old job. which apparently already got fixed by firefox getting containers. whatever i’m a new man now

okay so! good news! potentially best of news given the situation I went downstairs to sniff around and didn't smell the hot plastic smell at all furnace has been off now for like. four? hours? probably less, but still. it's been off. and now the smell is gone. so it was most likely coming from the furnace and not from the breaker box! it's still not great and we still have to get the furnace looked at/find the source of the smell because it's still vermont winter and we can't not have heat - we have plug-in heaters and blankets and clothes but that's not good enough forever - but we're not likely to have an electrical fire in the middle of the night! it does make sense, it would be weird (but not impossible) to have both a fire in a duct off the furnace and something happening with the breaker box across the room

Okay, conspiracy theory time: if Blitzwing being an Autobot experiment was indeed the original backstory planned for him, it ended up being revised into Malware’s backstory

I mean, a specimen with unique abilities amongst their species associated with machinery created by supposed good guy scientist(s) who “came out wrong” in a sense and was driven mad by the mental strain of it, turned rogue as a result of being mistreated by their creators, became a homicidal maniac hellbent on revenge, AND the same guy worked as a character designer on their respective shows? It just makes too much sense.

I mean with how much canon that Derrick J. Wyatt had creative input on, it would certainly not be too farfetched for some older unexplored ideas to be actually put into practice haha. I do love me some morally grey (and like, genuinely grey regardless of how bright or dark the shade) allies and protagonists, even if it has to come at the cost of the mental and physical health of certain antagonists /hj-

Blitzwing may not have had that much focus as a 'character plagued by the narrative' to have explored the implied trauma beyond him serving as one of the main villains with a unique triple changer feature, Malware being rather explicitly that 'someone you should care about' mixed in with the whole 'irredeemable asshole' schtick was very much a little dicey yeet- he deserved a redemption arc if he was to be written as much of a victim of circumstance and ensuing abandonment as he was 😔

Super excited! My dad was nice enough to order us a new furnace and have it shipped right to our house. It's scheduled for delivery on Tuesday, and the installer should have it in by the end of next week. No more space heaters and extra blankets! Yay!

In the meantime, if ya'll want some snow, you are more than welcome to come take as much as you want. Got a little over a foot and a half night before last. I suggest bringing a tractor or loader and a dump-truck. Average length of time to clear my drive alone is about 8 hours. Have fun.

The Ghost distribution system will always work to your advantage.

Your heat goes out, it's barely 10 degrees outside(feels like -6), and Ghost shows up to see how the cold is treating you. Really he came by to shovel your walkway, maybe put some salt down, but you open your door with a blanket around your shoulders and explain that you just called the HVAC guy, and he just shoulders past you. He makes you sit in his warm truck, while he checks your heater, comes back to the car with a cup of tea for you just to make sure you're comfortable.

You can try telling him he's doing too much, but he wont hear a word. Comes back a second time to tell you he knows what's wrong, "just need a new part." Which is great! And would be fine news except that means he has to go to the hardware store, and you'll be left in your cold house. Except, no. Ghost makes it clear you're coming with him, he can't leave you in the cold, so you get dragged to the store and he buys you lunch to make up for it. It's really worth it to see you tucking into your food, eager for the warmth of the store and the diner.

He pulls you down onto the couch after he fixes the heat, wraps a big arm around your shoulders so you can cuddle against his side. He radiates warmth like a furnace, so you may as well take advantage of that while you wait for the house to warm up. Ghost doesn't mind, this is his reward for working hard, this is why he keeps coming back.

the problems really start coming and they don't stop coming

pictured is the water heater in our basement, the gas won't light and it's sprung a leak. we currently don't have any hot water and are dealing with some mild flooding. I will be updated my family's gofundme to account for the price of the furnace as well as getting a new heater installed. in the mean time, we could use some help getting these to clear out the wetness in the basement.
