Theres harrowhark the first and harrowhark the first, now dead. these are the same person except one of them is also dead. dont worry about harrow nova. Gideon nav and Gideon the ninth are the same person. gideon the first is a different guy altogether. Ortus is gideon nav or gideon the ninth or gideon the first except for when its ortus nigenad. ortus the ninth is only kind of real. kiriona gaia is, in fact, also gideon. no the other one.

dont even worry about when its genuinely just someone else romping around in the body

What video games would The Locked Tomb characters play according to my partner and I:

- Gideon loves fighting games with hot chicks. Her favorite is mortal combat because it's so brutal but no one will play against her cuz she always wins. She also plays fortnite

- Harrow exclusively plays weird and obscure jrpgs only published in Japan for the ps2. Gideon and Ianthe have no idea how she finds then

- Ianthe plays a lot of roblox. She started playing it ironically but enjoyed cyberbullying children so much it became a favorite hobby. Now she also has a circle of simps that send her free robux

- Camilla and Palamedes play souls games together; Cam plays them cuz she likes the difficulty and Sextus watches and gets really into the lore. Cam is admittedly pretty casual about the game and doesn't think much about builds, despite which she is very good and probably first-tried Malenia without really trying

- Both Pyrrha and Gideon the First like competitive shooters like Call of Duty. Gideon did have a Destiny 2 phase for a while which Pyrrha judged him for

- Nona plays a lot of Minecraft (but only in creative mode!) as well as the free princess dress-up games. Cam and Palamedes had to set up parental controls after she accidently stumbled into Else-gate content

- Mercymorn commits human rights violations in the Sims. She has a sim of every Lyctor and John often finds himself in a ladderless swimming pool

- Augustine gets really into visual novels and dating sims. Once the Mithraeum crew couldn't find him because he locked himself away to play Dream Daddy

- John was a Fnaf kid and had an Undertale phase. Nowadays though he only plays a lot of Solitaire and Tetris

hey you ever just stop and think about how g1deon was (on john's orders, granted) actively hunting and trying to kill a mentally ill teenage girl. and then he politely ate her shitty soup. with all his least favorite vegetables in it. he ate the soup. he spent that whole scene like. quietly picking around the veggies drinking stock rather than refusing or even just leaving the table.

and then he didn't even get mad when she tried to kill him with it. why should he? it was fair play. it was a good trick. if john hadn't been there, it probably would've worked. so he gives her a little good game salute with his cigarette.

John is so horrendously biased towards G1deon and it shows. He sees nothing but obedience in that man. He ignores everything that is not loyalty to him, he attributes it to foreign influences that are tainting his good, loyal soldier. This extends to (or more accurately, originates with) how he viewed G— before the Resurrection.

In Nona, he talks about G— agreeing with P— as if P— is somehow mind controlling him. To John, she's just scaring G— into line, and G—'s shining moment is when he stands up to her to agree with John. But then you take a step back and think about it: P— has been so much more reasonable than John this whole time; G— stands up to her when she tells him not to execute John's plan, a plan which entirely relies on John's explicit ability to remotely kill G— at will. John, who is holding an entire country's nuclear arsenal in the palm of his hand, whose last emotional downturn saw him murdering over a hundred people in an instant.

And he sees G— listening to him as "duty."

This all gets exponentially more fucked up when you consider that the widely-held and textually supported interpretation is that G1deon is the darkest-skinned man in John's group. Hey John wanna explain the bias you have there? The bias that makes you view this man as your loyal servant? John? Wanna fucking explain??

John: yeah Gideon never got involved with any of his fellow lyctors. Completely passionless that guy. he would never get involved in any kind of ill-advised affair.

Meanwhile, Gideon: embroiled in possibly the most emotionally, politically, and logistically complicated polycule to ever exist.

Funny tlt thing I've noticed is that while people seem to have latched onto [Necromancer's name] [Cavalier's name] for the full name of Lyctors for some characters (in canon you have Cytherea Loveday and Ianthe Naberius, in fandom you get Mercymorn Cristabel), you never hear "Gideon Pyrrha" or "Harrowhark Gideon." Probably because Pyrrha and Gideon are characters we actually know and it feels weird to use their names that way, but that makes it even funnier that "Ianthe Naberius" is seen as acceptable. Goodbye white boy

Actually fucking crazy how Pyrrha had to feel her partner of over 10,000 years die, wake up alone in his body, square her shoulders and pretend to be him (not even for the last time), and then find the current most important person in the world to her, a woman who she'd only recently learned had not been killed in a way that mattered, and shoot her in the head.
