Ellie: spends her weekends fucking around at the skate park, getting chastized for loitering, and downing energy drinks
Abby: spends her weekends doing volunteer work with her dad, piano practice, probably some sport, church on Sunday.
In a non infected sense anyway lol

This might be a controversial take, but I honestly don't think that the most important thing is to believe in God or even Christ specifically but to genuinely try and be a good person. Believing in God is for your benefit, not God's, and trying to be a good person to the world around you is what counts.

so my parish church carries the name of st blase and his feast falls on the 3rd of february so there have been celebrations for a few days now and since he was born in armenia we had the armenian-croatian community as guests today at mass so parts of the prayer and singing were in armenian, it was so beautiful and interesting, i've realized i've never actually heard the armenian language.

this is not a hot take but you guys project wayyyyy too much. eddie rediscovering religion wouldn't be a terrible arc for him, if done right it could be very beautiful (isn't ryan also religious himself so it's possible that would influence how he wants to tell eddie's story) either way he's going to have to deal with the god-sized elephant in the room. but tbh i think some people are just taking their own issues with religion and faith (fair) and applying it to eddie like "yes he must hate god even more and resent his parents even harder and that will cure him" which is just fucking bizarre

given his um. everything. I don’t think Santi is a particularly devout catholic but he does strike me as someone who would have a thing for saints’ devotions, medals, etc.
anyway the reason I bring this up is that I was thinking about him with St Jude (patron saint of hope and lost causes) and St Sebastian (patron of soldiers and traditionally associated with gay men) medals.

okay can we please move past "religion is a matter of what an individual personally 'believes' in all settings" it's fucking stupid
its a comically narrow understanding of religion and is actively counter-productive in most cases where you're trying to ascertain how important religion is or how much it affects society etc

When Maria scolds Vito for not praying before they eat in chapter two- I wonder if before serving he was more religious, and now I’m wondering, when did he lose that religion?
I wonder if it happened slowly, overtime, did he surprise himself one day when he didn’t stop to pray before eating?
Or (what I’m leaning towards, for the drama) was it a sudden conscious decision. Was he 18 years old, holding a guy he only knew the last name of as he bled out, crying while he told him it’d be ok, praying to god that it’d be ok? Watching the life fade out of the other man’s eyes before looking around himself and thinking there’s no way the god his mother swore was good and real would let all of this pain and horror happen.

Friends, strangers, I want to share with you something I long thought I’d hallucinated, but which today I have discovered was absolutely real.
In the 90s my mum went to a number of Star Trek conventions and would often come home with a fan made tshirt. I need you to understand that my mother, barely 5’ tall, a catholic who to this day goes to church every Sunday, who was never heard to utter a swear word until I was in my twenties, who taught Grade One for decades at the local primary school. This woman, pure and innocent, went to a Star Trek convention and not only saw this tshirt but PURCHASED IT and now it’s been rediscovered in the garage and I’ve never been happier in my life.

I asked her what she was thinking and she said that she thought it was funny but when she brought it home my dad was (aside from side splittingly amused) absolutely adamant that she couldn’t wear it out in public because SHE WANTED TO DO THAT!! Grade One teacher, church on Sunday mum wanted to wear this around town! Who IS this woman I thought I knew??
Anyway now I have this awesome tshirt and I sort of want to frame it.
