Dynamo Roller is in the Salmon Run rotation again, and as it happens Dynamo is one of the most common weapons I see people mention on my post asking what people’s hardest Salmon Run weapons are. So here’s some quick tips to make the experience a bit less painful for you Dynamo non-enjoyers:

The most important part when using Dynamo is to do the complete opposite of conventional Dynamo wisdom and roll as much as possible. While it’s not very fast, the Dynamo’s roll squishes all regular Salmonids, even Cohocks, instantly. You can kind of think of yourself as the cleanup crew, getting the pesky non-bosses out of the way and opening up the path for your team.

Dynamo is actually pretty good at fighting Boss Salmonids, with the exception of Stingers and Fish Sticks, who you might as well ignore entirely as the multiple hits simply take too much time to bother with. When dealing with bosses, you almost always want to use the vertical flick. While the horizontal flick is wider, it also deals less damage and has less range, making verticals more reliable as long as your aim is true. Additionally, you don’t want to play around your maximum range, usually, as rollers have pretty aggressive damage falloff. Try to stay within medium distance for maximum damage.

And that maximum damage is beefy! You can oneshot Steelheads very reliably, and most other bosses go down in two swings, or even one if you can manage to get the fling-rollerbump combo (though that’s somewhat unreliable at the best of times).

And while I did say to primarily focus on vertical flicks, horizontals do have their time and place, too. They rain down ink over a large area, making them useful for hitting angles you couldn’t normally get at reliably.

But where Dynamo Roller really shines is in special waves. Glowfly waves is the big standout, as you can slow-roll by only very slightly tilting the stick forward, moving yourself at a glacial pace while still having the roller hitbox, crushing the entire wave underfoot with basically no effort. Goldie Seeking is another big standout, as crashing into the Goldie while it tries to run away will deal absolutely ludicrous amounts of damage to it and generate a ton of Golden Eggs all at once, assuming you don’t kill it outright. Additionally, Dynamo is pretty good against Mudmouths, too, as you can simply park yourself in front of the Mudmouth and just let it spit out Salmonids right into the sweet embrace of your Roller.

Dynamo Roller is admittedly an acquired taste, especially in Salmon Run, and it is hard to use well, but be patient and watch your ink tank, and you’ll absolutely get results!

Hello. I'm because I found your Splatoon x Sam and Max crossover. Regarding that, what weapons do you think they'd main or like the most?

So this took be a while to answer because it made me think about other aspects of mammals and ink and so on

ANYWAY! What I like to think is that they appreciate the more explosive and destructive weapons/specials when playing turf war legally!

I think Sam would lean towards blasters, rollers and buckets. The ones feel like he would use the most in each class would be the custom range blaster, Golden Dynamo, and Slosher (I like the idea of him dumping buckets of paint on inkfish)

Max would be the fast annoying type so duelies, splatana, and brush (I like the idea of him whacking stuff until they are dead sedated). The main ones being Enperry Splat Duelies, splatana wiper, and inkbrush. (Would run a special up fit that makes him have the special within 2 seconds of the round starting and spam his stamper)

Now when they’re out and about doing whatever they do, I like to think they carry custom weapons that used parts from their old guns which were all fixed and modded by Sheldon as a favor, but he was more than willing to do it because he loves looking at old weapons from before the great floods that wiped out humanity especially ones that are in amazing condition (personal hc)

(The weapons were slightly to mostly traced just so that you can see what what modified and what wasnt)

Sam has a modded N-zap that is bigger and longer than a regular one. It also has a barrel that came from his old gun big kill.

Max has a modded Duelie Squelchers that are jet black and has a contraband special attached to it (this one was originally an illegal weapon that they confiscated, but since Sheldon saw Max take a liking to the weapon, he added it when fixing his gun)

This means that they are banned from using these weapons from legal turf wars (which they have tried).

Despite having their own weapons they tend to keep like 50% of the illegal weapons they find (x) The other 50% is returned for money. The weapons they find are whatever broken thing you can think of. Undercover Bella that never brakes, dynamo that covers the whole map in one swing, Grizzco weapons that were taken by former employees, etc.

my hcs for the ninja’s splatoon mains bc why not

Kai: Splatana Wiper. Kai’s weapon of choice is generally a sword, and I feel like he’d be a frontliner with an aggressive playstyle (which the vanilla wiper is great for)

Cole: Hydra Splatling. This was a hard choice, but I decided to make him a backliner for that good ol Team Balance. It’s a slow and heavy but incredibly strong weapon, with one of the highest DPS counts in the game, and the booyah bomb just feels right for cole.

Jay: Dapple Dualies Nouveau. I knew from the get go that he should have dualies and a general “quick” frontliner kit. Dapples are great for that, with incredible mobility and a combo of high damage and a quick fire rate.

Zane: Reef-Lux 450. this choice is biased. i’m a flux main and zane is my favorite BUT IN MY DEFENSE he did use a bow once!!! And the sleek and modern look of the reef lux fits his aesthetic!! Also, tenta missiles are fitting as the little HUD thingy feels robotty. Most importantly though, coming from a reef lux main: We die a lot! /j

Lloyd: Splattershot/Hero Shot. It’s the most Main Character weapon in the game! Not just that, but it’s currently dominating the meta. Strongest ninja, strongest weapon. I think that makes sense. Also I think lloyd deserves to pull out a big ass bazooka after all he’s been through.

Nya: Bloblobber Deco. Firstly, a bloblobber shoots bubble projectiles, fitting for the master of water. It also has Kraken, which is a mythological sea creature and thus fits in with Nya’s theming.

BONUS:

Pixal: E-Liter 4K Scope. I think a sniper weapon works well for Pixal, and the shiny design of the e-liter fits her vibe imo. Ink mines are perfect for her as a “preparation” sub, and wave breaker acts as a way to track the enemy team. Scoped variety because I think it’s cool.

Wu: Woe, Bamboozler be upon ye. I dont think i need to explain this one.

Splathammer (Warhammer 30k x Splattoon) Part 1:

Honestly, I have had this AU on my mind for a while...

The Emperor of Mankind failed. He was unable to prevent humanity from destroying itself, despite the massive powers that he possessed.. not even he could prevent the rising of the ocean tides, nor the driving of humans underground.

He had revealed himself too late, albeit despite the humans despairing for a miracle. He watched as the last few humans died off. He had some idea of how and where his perpetuals were, but as far he had concern, as much as he hated it.. he had to move on.

He remained in the shadows, watching as the new species grow and change. The new species, although humanoid in appearance only two had the ability to transform into what was known as squids and octpi within his time of the earth.

In order to blend in, he used his biomancy to assume the prime form of their species, yet keeping somewhat of his more human features. However, despite the new races' inherited a shattered earth, they adapted it, and made it their own.

It surprised him, that they had created little miracles of their own... a large catfish to be able to produce enough electricity to power tons of cities, ink based weapons that were based on human tools that were long gone.

He witnessed the Great Turf War, where the octopus based amog them were driven underground, like the humans before them. In his heart, He thought that they should have won given their numbers and the odd way that they can reproduce.

To make sure that his plans went through, he went underground, but within the places that he knew that Octopus species would not touch. Although, his resources were limited, he had heard about the power of the Golden Eggs. So, he went on his own hunt, it was a ripe opportunity to get used to this form, and gain some of that precious resource.

He used it wisely, and crafted 20 beings like him... although it took almost a ton of his great power, and unfortunately... two of them didn't survive... He had to rest and he let the Golden Eggs power his creations.

Lion El Johnson

Alias: The Great Salmonid Hunter

Weapon Choice: Grizzco Splatana

Special of Choice: Ink Armor/ Reef Slider

He was one of the first to awaken after time gestating within his test tube. The lab in which he was "born" was rather dark and gloomy. Still, he was. he left the lab, and somehow used his senses to make his way above ground. Unfortnately, during that time... a Great Salmonid Migration was in process...

Millions of them, were rushing throughout the roads... each biting and chewing on anything they could get their fins on. Lion even noticed with great shock the some had consumed their fellows.

Despite this, he noted a worker fall, their clothing dissipated as they cried out in pain. His shock turned to rage as he grabbed the worker's fallen weapon and turned his rage upon the Salmoniods...

Eventually through many hours of hacking.. many corpses lay beside them. Including some Smallfry, which he took the time to crush underfoot. However, when he had turned to see the new species that came to embrace him after what he did... every thing just felt wrong.... And so... he left them.

Currently, Lion is trying to hunt down the hideouts of the Salmonoids, while using their precious golden eggs as bait.

Alias: None

Weapon of Choice: Dapple Dualies, Dynamo Roller (if hes in a mood), InkBrush

Species: Inkling

Special of Choice: Ultra Stamp

Fulgrim was the second to emerge from his tube, but took a different path from his brothers. He made his way throughout the underground but arrived in Inkopolis.

Although he was a foreigner and had little memory in the city, he adapted to its culture well, and enjoyed his time after fighting in Turf Wars. In that, he realized that he was scarily good with that, it even got worse for his foes when he had picked up and settled on his main weapon of choice.

Currently, he is X ranked in almost every mode, despite using some of the worse weapons and kits within. In fact, many a team if their of whispers that he would be playing often forfiet out of fear.

When out of Turf Wars, he is a great artist, often using a modified Inkbrush and his own ink to create masterpieces. They are often abstract in nature.

Despite the fame of being so great...the X ranked matched sometimes get boring... and often he switches to his other weapon, the Dynamo. He purposely picked this weapon, as he had heard an off color comment about a player's intelligence if they used this weapon.

Perturabo

Alias: The Shelled Builder

Weapon Choice: None

Special Choice: Modifed Ink Armor

Species: Horsecrab/Octarian Hybrid

Perturabo was alive. He felt some level of higher awareness due to kind. He burst out of his tank and walked out of the underground. He noted that at least two of the other tanks were broken... there were others like him... but they were gone. He turned to the others still gestating.

He made a perfect mental note of their faces... he would come back.. yet they were not ready. Still... he had to escape.

He wandered the Underground endlessly, until he picked up a tune. A simple 5 tune jingle. Somehow he knew in his heart that it meant something. He followed the tune and arrived at a patrol.

They uttered something and he tried to recite the tune back to him, but all it uttered was confused. Still, the patrol went and brought him into the Octarian underground domes where they lived.

There he grew, and learned... He learned much about weapon design and armor and specials... He was promoted quickly. He had studied all that he had known about inklings and their weapons based on the data.

However all that changed when, he got news that he could be promoted no further... and for what... His heart was full of wrath and bitterness... Why couldn't he be apart of the elite...At that

Still he continued... the only times where he felt some level of joy was when his "leader" got captured by the Inklings...

Currently, he is still in the underground making wholely unspeakable weapons for the renewed war effort, and slowly making plans to overthrow and rule Octarian society.

last night i had a dream about a new salmon run event

you'd start off high in the sky on something similar to the ship from marooner's bay, but then three people would be knocked and have to break crates to get eggs, which would be sent up to be deposited. there were three types of eggs: silver (which counted as one), golden (which counted as three) and platinum (which counted as five and also was the name of the mode).

and of course i got dynamo roller for the rotation

back at it again !!  technically season 3 is out already but like work with me here

general set of stats first:

- 470 hours in it atm - level 60, s+2 highest still (i didn’t play ranked that much LMAO) - total wins: 1379, turf inked: 2,105,815p, badges: 95 - peak x powers were : sz 1880.0 ... and rm 2215.2 :) - i didn’t screenshot catalog level so i’m skipping it

- 4* weapons (since i have no 5*): range blaster, octobrush, goo tuber + ttek, blaster, big swig, tri-stringer - 3* weapons: aerospray mg, rapid blaster pro, e-liter 4k, e-liter 4k scope, tri-slosher, explosher, ballpoint splatling, dark tetra dualies + sploosh, aerospray mg, clash blaster, slosher deco, splat brella, splatana stamper, splatana wiper - weapons not played at all: splat roller*, inkbrush*, mini splatling, dapple dualies, undercover brella + aerospray rg, inkbrush nouveau,  * these weapons were in the testfire where i did try all of them

- best splat zones stage (according to the app, by winrate): museum apparently?  100% winrate STILL. - best tower control stage: mincemeat 72.7% - best rainmaker stage: inkblot 73.1% - best clam blitz stage: undertow 100% STILL - maps i haven’t played sz on: eeltail, wahoo + flounder - maps i haven’t played tc on: (none) - maps i haven’t played rm on: (none) - maps i haven’t played cb on: ...y’all ready.  scorch, hagglefish, mincemeat, hammerhead, museum, mahi, inkblot, sturgeon, makomart, wahoo + brinewater, flounder

now as for some general thoughts on the state of the game: - weapons i think are the best (overall, in meta): splash, ttek, stamper - weapons i think are the worst: all brellas.  just all of them - weapons i don’t really like fighting atm: stamper, nautilus - other notes: ttek buff was a bit overkill imo and now 3.0 is coming in with so many changes to crab specifically it makes tristrike feel 10x more terrifying tbh.  tacticooler still not being breakable sucks and i think objects on tower are a perpetual problem

- stages i think are the best: makomart, flounder, undertow tbh - stages i think are the worst: SCORCH.  easily scorch.  mahi close second but scorch is just painful to play on. - thoughts on the new maps: brinewater is just fine but it can be hell and it’s not perfect at all.  flounder is a bit more awkward in this game than i remembered it was in 1 but that might be my memory failing me, conceptually tho it still slaps and i think it’s defs the most fun stage in the game atm - other notes: i’m starting to feel the pain of the map design a bit more but i also think it’s not As bad as it could be.  the changes in 3.0 were also at least a start :/

thoughts on the game as a whole / stuff in the future bc i combined these <3: - the idea we’re only getting 8 returning maps total is making me spiral currently - really like the dlc so far - kits are overall a little better but some of them are just so redundant or bad idk what’s going on.  need more asap tho we’re in hell for certain classes - i’m hoping they have a new ranked mode & more returning maps up their sleeves bc this is a mess atm - need all maps back asap.  and also third kits. - still desperately want custom kits in privs at the end of the game’s life - big runs are slightly too infrequent imo - need new salmon run content asap like i need contest mode to come with more enemies or bosses or events

thoughts on 3.0: - new maps are both so sexy - like a lot of the new weapon kits design-wise and kit-wise ... A lot but not all. - inkopolis plaza is cool altho no new lobby or hotlantis >:( - balance changes seem overall alright but i’m worried abt how the game is gonna feel come next patch lmao - where tf is league nintendo - no salmon map this season...?  hell on earth

oh actually very early thoughts on 3.0: - map changes are cool i like most of them but the poles are so fucking funny - kraken is SO sexy... i love using it i love it i love this game - super chump is very fragile but that’s so good - umami ruins is SOOOOOO GOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD EARLY CONTENDER FOR BEST MAP - manta boat being paintable in spawn is destroying me but i love it so much.  also it looks so sexy
