I just saw Karn EX's video on if the Knowledge armor digimon evolved further, and it got my brain pumping. I actually really like my own idea for Searchmon, becoming Cimbmon and then Shivamon. It almost follows a narrative like Wormmon is searching for a new path in life after the Digimon Kaiser fiasco, climbing mountains while traveling the digital world, and finding enlightenment. Searchmon is a cricket and Climbmon/Shivamon are mantids, which are distantly related. Plus, while it's not the same kind of "worm", Shivamon does come with a horsehair worm around its shoulders.

And while I'm not In Love with this next one, Pharaohmon's gold does circle back around to Armadimon's shell and Digmon having metal drills. Something something digging, bones, archaeology, Ancient Egypt. Armadimon is just so hard to work with. And that's before thinking about how there are basically no more insect digimon to use.

I mean, I'm completely stumped on trying to come up with a better idea for Mothmon or Flybeemon. Do I stick Okuwamon and GrandKuwagamon/GrandisKuwagamon somewhere? RhinoKabuterimon and Ancientbeatmon? I've actually run out of options, to say nothing of good options.

My Adventure 02 Epilogue Evolution Lines ~ Part 2

Let's start with T.K's son:

Tokomon -> Patamon -> Unimon -> Chirinmon -> Mitamamon

Okay, so fair warning, Kai and two other kids in this post share the same Rookie partner as their parents, there isn't much wiggle room when they've already been given In-training Digimon. What can you do, right? So I figured, let's focus more on the animal aspects of Patamon, rather than digivolving him into yet another beautiful variant of Angemon.

Once I discovered Chirinmon and Mitamamon, I knew they were the Ultimate and Mega stage I was looking for, especially since they're both holy Digimon. The problem was finding a Champion level to bridge Patamon to Chirinmon. My initial response was Pegasusmon, and while I do still think he'd be a perfect fit, T.K's Patamon had already digivolved into Pegasusmon in Adventure 02 and T.K and Kai were already sharing a Rookie, I didn't want their partners digivolutions to look too identical. Then I remembered Unimon, whose hair is the same color as Patamon, which was good enough for me. Plus, Unimon is a callback to the one Joe faced in Digimon Adventure when Gomamon digivolved for the first time.

Now, Kari and Hiroshi's son:

Nyaromon -> Salamon -> Mikemon -> Beautymon -> Mastemon

Now you're probably asking yourself, who the duck is Hiroshi? Remember the Dark Spore children from Digimon Adventure 02, and how one of them wanted to be a magna artist? Yeah, that guy.

Takari/Daikari fans, don't kill me! I'm just making my WIP as canon adjacent as possible, and it doesn't seem that Kari ended up marrying T.K or Davis by the end of the epilogue. Doesn't mean things can't change though, after all, Kari is divorced in the beginning of my WIP. 😉

Moving on to more important matters, Hideaki's Rookie was already decided for him in the Epilogue. And I couldn't have his Salamon digivolve into Gatomon and completely copy that digivolution line. Mikemon is said to come into fruition due to the data of Nyaromon sleeping in Salamon before re-manifesting in the Champion level. Since Hideaki is the first of the next gen Digidestined to have a Rookie level, you could chalk this up as his Nyaromon digivolving into Salamon prematurely. Mikemon's usual Ultimate level is Beastmon, who I feel will be more suited for a dark digivolution path once Hideaki crosses that bridge. Afterwards, I felt it'd be appropriate if Mikemon digivolved into Beautymon, (Beautymon and the Beastmon, anyone?) a knight appmon from Appmon who resembles Angewomon. The dark angel look it has going on is a perfect segue into Mastemon, an angel Digimon who controls both light and darkness. Seeing as Hideaki will have the Crest of Redemption, Mastemon could symbolize the embracing of both light and darkness within.

Davis' child:

Spoiler alert, I'm making Davis' son trans because I want a female goggle-head leader for once. Is that too much to ask? Hell, while we're at it, Tamiko's Veemon is also a female. What are you gonna do about it? Trans rights!

Anyway, lol, this was the easiest because this is the only complete digivolution line Veemon has. Karn EX just happened to have the same idea as I did, lol.

Ken and Yolei's children:

I took Karn EX's idea for a Hyokomon evolution with Inori (their oldest daughter), and thank God for the video, I was originally gonna give her a Hawkmon and try to differentiate it from Yolei's Hawkmon. I have no other notes, it's perfect.

For the youngest baby girl, Kotone, I figured to give her a different In-training Digimon from her brother. Since in the WIP, Kotone's only four, there won't be much of her and her partner adventuring in the Digital World, so for a while they'll just be Morphomon (until the time skip 😉).

And for the only boy, the middle child, Renjiro, I did take Karn EX's idea of using Kunemon, but decided on a different digivolution past the Rookie stage. Kuwagamon is a callback to the very first episode of Digimon Adventure. As for the Ultimates and Megas, there aren't many options without having overlap and while I was very tempted to use BranchoStingmon, I felt that would be a better suited Mega for Ken's Wormmon.

Last, but not least, Cody's daughter:

Upamon -> Tapiramon -> Rhinomon -> Mammothmon -> Goddramon

I literally came up with this yesterday. Prior to yesterday, had you asked me about which was my least favorite, I would've said it was my original digivolution line for Cody's daughter, Akira. Now, it's one of my favorites.

Upamon to Tapiramon seemed plausible, and I originally wanted to use Goddramon as the Mega, but once again, the problems I had were with filling in the blanks. Baluchimon, I still believe, is a very perfect fit for a Champion digivolution, while Mammothmon is a perfect fit for a viable Ultimate. But Baluchimon to Mammothmon, to me, doesn't really work. Originally, I got rid of both Mammothmon and Goddramon and had Baluchimon to Rhinomon (portrayed as an Ultimate in one video game and as a Champion in another, despite being an Armor digivolution) then to Huanglongmon but I wasn't completely satisfied with that. So, I got rid of Baluchimon, made Rhinomon the Champion level, and put Goddramon back where it belonged.

Tapiramon and Goddramon are nice callbacks to Digimon Adventure Tri (with Mammothmon being a callback to the one Sora and Garudamon faced in Digimon Adventure). The fact that they're both holy Digimon is also a subtle reference to Shakkoumon, a rumored ancient angel Digimon and a DNA Digivolution between Angemon and Ankylamon from Digimon Adventure 02. The gold armor on Rhinomon also resembles Armadillomon, Ankylamon, and Digmon.

Next post will probably either be about what my takes on the families/careers are for the Epilogue, what I think the full digivolution lines are for Davis, Yolei, and Cody (and what their crests would be), or my ideas for a Frontier sequel.

After taking a break (which took a bit longer than expected..), I'm back with this au! I hope you enjoy it!

Ok, Alina took me a bit to actually think what partner would suit her the most. I know I wanted it to be one of the bug digimons. After looking through tons and tons of them and eventually decided on Kunemon. Having it evolve into GrandisKuwagamon. It's known to be "Demon of the Deep Forest", pretty sure that should tell you something about it.

Kunemon like to help out Alina with her art projects and she often have it pose for her. The two don't take the whole tamer thing seriously and will only fight if you made Alina mad or because she wants to. Don't underestimate Kunemon's strength either.

Nemu: Tapirmon-Sorcermon-Wisemon-AncientWisemon. Plus more

How can I not give Wisemon to Nemu? Both fit so perfectly! For her's, I had to think on what evolution route I wanted for her Wisemon to have since Piedmon doesn't really fit her...At least that's my opinion. That was the time I remembered AncientWisemon and the pieces fell together nicely.

Wisemon often help Nemu to create her stories and help out with their plans. It's not particularly fond of fighting and much rather read a book instead. If it has to then it'll have no problem beating ever living shit out of you. Especially if you danger Nemu's life.

Touka:Vorvomon-Lavorvomon-Lavogaritamon-volcanicdramon. Plus more

This was the first thing that came to mind for Touka to be honest. The imagine of her having a fearsome lava dragon was too great for me to ignore. Plus it has a puppy like personality so I believe it'll be a great fit for her!

Vorvomon is aggressive to anyone it doesn't know and will bite you if Touka lets it. The two are aiming to becoming the strongest and unlocking the secrets behind the digital world. Afterall...You can't take on or control the deadly sins without strength or knowledge.

The Magius goal in this universe? Well...To take control of the deadly sins and for what reasons? You'll see..

Tamersona Week Day 8: Alternatively

We mostly stick to normal Digivolution, but we’re also capable of Armor Digivolution! (That is, as long as the 02 kids share their Digimentals...)

And its even rarer that we can manage to do it (since the power originates from Takato’s universe) but my two partners and I can also biomerge into GrandisKuwagamon!

Digimon 02 Ultimate/Mega and Crest Headcanons

I have no real good reason for why I’m doing this. Leave me alone. 

Before we get started, I want to say that this headcanon trail relies on the idea that Jogress evolution is not utilized in 02 at all. Instead of being Jogress, they will simply be straight evolutions if they are utilized for this. 

Daisuke Motomiya and Veemon

For this one, the choice was pretty easy. I think that Paildramon and Imperialdramon work just fine as Veemon’s evolutions. Paildramon very clearly takes more from the aesthetic of ExVeemon rather than Stingmon, so the appearance factor matters little. Imperialdramon works just fine as well. They feel like natural progressions from ExVeemon in my opinion, and that’s just what I was looking for here. If you had to twist my leg to get me to pick something else, I would go with AeroVeedramon and UlforceVeedramon for Daisuke, but I personally prefer Paildramon and Imperialdramon. 

Regarding Daisuke’s Crest, I have always been a firm believer of him having the Crest of Loyalty. It blends the canon ideas of Courage and Friendship pretty well in my eyes as well as working perfectly for Daisuke himself. He was really damn loyal to Ken when the group was inviting him to the group, and he’s always stuck by those he cares about. It’s perfect in my eyes. Bravery would be a secondary choice, though this might be too close to Taichi’s Crest of Courage.

Miyako Inoue and Hawkmon

Once again, the choice for an evolution line was pretty easy. Maybe it’s because I personally love Silphymon, but I feel as if Silphymon is a perfect Ultimate for Hawkmon. Given that we have a cat turning into an angel, a hawk turning into a hawk-man warrior isn’t too farfetched when Jogress is removed. Valkyrimon feels like a perfect next step from Silphymon. If you wanted to go with something completely different, Sinduramon and Varodurumon would work well. I like the first path better since it makes Hawkmon unique from Biyomon’s line of only birds by being bird/human warriors. 

Miyako easily has the hardest Crest to decide on. I have two ideas that are constantly fueling each other, and which one you like better comes down to personal preference. Passion seems to embrace her idea of being most like Mimi out of the second generation. Resourcefulness, on the other hand, shows her similarities to Koshiro as the brains of the second team. I think exploring her spontaneity and creativity would be incredibly interesting through the latter, but Passion helps to set her apart from the rest of the group. 

Iori Hida and Armadillomon

If Miyako had the hardest Crest to decide on, Iori has the hardest evolution line to decide on. Going down the Jogress route, a good choice would be Shakkoumon to ClavisAngemon, but I don’t think this works perfectly given that Iori doesn’t have a holy Crest the way Takeru or Hikari does. However, Duramon to Durandamon would be a natural progression that keeps the golden aesthetic. I think this works rather well even if it’s a choice that is scarcely looked at for Ankylomon’s evolutions. 

Iori’s Crest is easily Integrity for me. It seems perfect given that he is a lot like Jyou given his reliability. He hates lying and has a strict set of morals that can’t be broken due to his stubbornness. While it’s heavier on the Reliability side of his inherited Crests, I feel like it works well for him. Empathy would be another option for him. 

Ken Ichijouji and Wormmon

Stingmon’s evolutions were pretty easy for me to figure out as well. JewelBeemon works perfectly and is already a canonical evolution of Stingmon. From there, GrandisKuwagamon is a natural next step, keeping up with the bug-man theme of Stingmon and JewelBeemon. The bug idea is maintained while still making the evolutions distinct and different from the other bug partner in Tentomon. If the other idea for Daisuke is preferred, Paildramon and Imperialdramon would work here as well, though I feel as if they fit less on Wormmon than Veemon. 

His Crest is Kindness confirmed in canon, so I’m not going to go into this any further.

Absolutely! I'm sure Grandis wonders how he ended up so close with the overly affectionate, RK fanboy himbo, but I don't think he minds as much as he acts like he does. I think they make a good combo, with how Grandis' streetwise cynicism contrasts with Victory's idealism.

Favorite Digimon from each V-Pet, part 4

The Pendulum X series (2003) gave us one of the most beloved Digimon storylines ever: the X-Program storyline. A tale of prejudice, of oppression, of betrayal, of death and rebirth and the efforts people will go just to survive another day, the extent some people are willing to compromise their morals for the greater good, and the conviction of those who would not compromise. Digimon products had always liked to include some mature stuff to differentiate themselves (see: literally any of the animes), but the X-Program storyline blew almost all of them out of the water in terms of how dark it was willing to go.

Whatever the reason they decided to go that route, the V-Pet team was clearly inspired, as proven by both the new gameplay mechanics included in it and the designs of the new Digimon. Some of my absolute favorites, both in terms of lore and design, debuted in this generation, including what is probably my favorite Child Digimon ever:

From a pure design basis, Dorumon is the epitome of the Digimon aesthetic for Child Digimon. Both a mammal and a dragon, he’s the perfect mix of cuddly and ferocious, looking like he can rip you to shreds while also making you want to hug him. This duality is hinted at in his profile, which states that he’s highly aggressive but also prone to forming attachments. In a franchise with creatures that were supposed to be both highly dangerous and your beloved companions, he’s perfect.

Lore-wise, Dorumon is at the core of the X-Program storyline, someone whose very existence has been deemed a threat and thus must be killed, even if he himself is just trying to survive the same calamities that had befallen everyone else, someone who wants to prove to himself that he deserves to live. His 3 “main” evolution lines represent different aspects of this. Creativity and destruction are a theme of the Dorugaromon line, eventually becoming something seemingly contradictory, an Avatar of Destruction born of the Daydream of a Digicore, the “Ultimate Enemy” that is only fighting against those who would eradicate millions in the name of the greater good. In the Death-X-mon line, all this potential banishes. Only a hollow core remains, one that desperately wants to be something, that destroys all things in its attempts to be complete again, but cannot ever be. Digimon Chronicle paints it as a sort of “Death beyond Death”, and it’s fascinating. Of course, the final line is Alphamon, who needs no introduction. Dorumon is the representation of potential, a Prototype Digimon that can embody both Dreams and Death, Creativity and Destruction, the potential to rise above the suffering around you and to become a tool in service of it. Digital Monster X-Evolution, despite its flaws, perfectly conveys this concept, and its protagonist Dorumon is my favorite character in the entire franchise.

My favorite line for this Digimon? Any of them would do, since they’re all so great, but for now I’ll go with: Dodomon -> Dorimon -> Dorumon -> Dorugamon -> Doruguremon -> Dorugaromon -> Death-X-mon. This is basically Kouta’s line in Digimon Chronicle, except there would be no second chances. The story would be similar to Juri’s in Digimon Tamers, of a Tamer having to cope with the death of their partner, only this time around that partner has transformed into the very enemy they must defeat. Perhaps Dorumon and the Tamer were both convinced their potential would result in the greatest hero (like Alphamon), only to end with the Death Of All Things. Dark, but not any darker than the X-Program storyline already was.

Re-visiting the "Knowledge armor evolutions" idea because I had a brain blast about Armadimon/Digmon.

MetallifeKuwagamon is gold with purple markings, which gives it a reasonably strong visual connection to Digmon. And then RhinoKabuterimon as the ultimate works so well I'm astonished neither I nor KarnEX thought of it. It's big and bulky, it has a shell, it's down on all its legs, it's gold and purple (more of a Gamecube indigo and that becomes the dominant color, but you get the idea), and it has fin-like protrusions where ears would be. On paper, it's basically the platonic ideal of what an Armadimon evo should be. I'm actually happier with this than I am with any idea I've had for its natural evolution path.

I already discussed my line for Wormmon/Searchmon. Climbmon and Shivamon have perfect synergy with them, you could parse a narrative about searching for enlightenment, and Shivamon has a little worm buddy. I actually really love this one. In fact, this line feels completely organic as a Wormmon evolution line.

I could have given the Funbeemon evos to V-mon/Honeybeemon, but I decided Dinobeemon actually does work the best because of the whole "V-mon wearing an exoskeleton" commonality. And then GranKuwagamon is a no-brainer since it's the default evolution of Dinobeemon. When you think about it, this line is canon compliant since Dinobeemon and GranKuwagamon legitimately are V-mon evolutions...Just in the same way Paildramon and Imperialdramon are Wormmon evolutions. GrandisKuwagamon Honey Mode also exists, but that feels a little bit cheap since it's literally a digixross using Honeybeemon. It's also not in the builder.

Hawkmon/Flybeemon is where I start to moan about the lack of options again. BanchoStingmon is red and black, and you could give it some poetic meaning that Yolei's partner would evolve into the final form of Ken's partner. I could have put Jewelbeemon as the perfect level to bridge the gap, but being green is literally the opposite of being red. Vespamon does a good enough job in that slot, it's got robotic armor with black stripes. Hawkmon talks and acts like a samurai while Vespamon is an elite knight. idk

Patamon/Mothmon...we really do need more insect digimon that aren't bees or rhinoceros beetles or stag beetles. I'm defaulting to KarnEX's idea of Cannonbeemon simply because of the gun abdomen. And then TigerVespamon essentially just because it was still available.

Tailmon/Butterflamon gets Eosmon, also KarnEX's idea, because Morphomon's natural evolutions were never revealed. We could have had a full line of butterfly fairy digimon that could have been used here, but alas. Queenbeemon also works as the ultimate stage, but I like Eosmon Ultimate because it's at least butterfly-themed and its actual body is gold so there actually is a good amount of visual cohesion. It's also very goddess-like which ties it to Angewomon and Ophanimon.

Otherwise I really enjoy insect digimon in general. The rest of my favorite Digimon tend to be pretty unrelated in terms of theming (unless pink angels are a theme????)

Devidramon is a super cool and underrated Digimon tho. Love it’s gangly limbs and four red eyes, much prefer it over Devimon.

My favorite kuwaga line is by far Kokuwamon/BladeKuwagamon/MetallifeKuwagamon/GrandisKuwagamon. Soooo cool

A lil update on my playthrough for funsies-

I have myself a ladydevimon! I'm definitely thinking of fusing her with angewomon for their final evolution, but magnadramon is so cool.

Speaking of, I've definitely been using my angels more since the "eaters" in game are a lot easier with light attribute digis. Angewomon kicked ass, and I'm gonna need to spend lots more time with her for that fusion.

Nearly all my digis are around the same level now. Some I've neglected more than others 😅😅 but ya know. I think I have settled what I want everyone to digivolved to for the end but JEEZ there's so many virus types that will be in my crew. I thought I was gonna have way too many vaccine types but when everyone evolves to the digis I want, I'm gonna be lacking.

I have a lilymon that I thought I was just gonna let her stay on the digifarm, but sends texts about worrying about me, so I brought her along some more :)

I had my monzaemon being very derpy but very cute and childish. He sent a text wanting to play hide n seek while I was infiltrating a very highly secured server. Lmao

There's others that I don't really have a personality painted for, but they are really cool. MetalTyrannomon will turn into RustTyrannomon and I'M PUMPED.

My MegaKabuterimon (still really like) is gonna be GrandisKuwagamon. Will love to see it.

Zudomon is gonna Plesiomon whose design I really like. He mostly messages me about trivia questions btw lol

Grapleomon is slowly growing on me too. I haven't fully committed to what he's gonna be but it's more likely gonna be leopardmon cause yeyeyeah!
