Sukuna stayed rooted on the spot. The room went silent as all eyes shifted from Uraume to you, their look of concern morphing to that of horrified looks when they finally turned their line of vision to the pink-haired male. However, his attention was on you and the apologetic look you had as you regarded him.
“Ryomen told me how you kept telling everyone about that for his sake,” Uraume began, “You don’t have to do that here, Y/N. It’s not like we’ll like him any less or otherwise, so it’s okay.”
“Still…” Suguru glared at Sukuna. “The fuck were you thinking, man?”
You started waving your hands in front of you, your ears and cheeks feeling hot from embarrassment. “I-it was an accident. Please don’t fight.”
"We're not," Sukuna assured you, arching a brow at Suguru who had a protective arm in front of you.
Satoru, who had been silently listening to the conversation, also chimed in. “Bet he had a girl with him when that happened.”
Everyone burst out laughing and Sukuna could just roll his eyes as he carelessly bumped against everyone on purpose until he was seated next to you on the couch, swatting Suguru away. He heard your apology the moment he was close enough. “It’s fine, Y/N. It’s the truth after all. I don't have to hide anything from them now.” He handed you the strawberry milk. “I didn’t think you should be taking alcohol with your constant intake of painkillers.”
“I didn’t think that was a good idea either,” you agreed thoughtfully but you still looked at him anxiously. “Thank you.”
Tumblr media
“So, how come you’re not chasing him to hell?” Nobara asked you. “Is there some bizarre love story we don’t know about here?”
“L-love story?” If you were blushing earlier, your face was beet red from your neck to your scalp as you shook your head, but you still smiled graciously, not missing a beat when you said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“That’s very convincing, Y/N.”
You just bit your lower lip.
“Hey, stop it!” Sukuna growled, causing everyone to shut up, but he didn’t miss the way you flinched, too. It was endearing, but he felt annoyed with himself at the same time. “Sorry.”
Your familiar mega-watt smile immediately made itself evident and he couldn’t help but return the gesture. As per usual, everyone liked you, watching as how you take every snack the boys were offering, engaging the other girls in the room in friendly conversation, being fast friends with them. Your attention may not have been solely on him like all those times he accompanied you to functions, but he still felt happy watching you interact with people he trusted. As always, you attracted them, and this time, he hoped you will be real friends with them, too.

Hello!! I just wanna drop by and say i enjoyed your Utahime thoughts! And i wanna share s couple of my cents if that's alright? Here we gooo
So I'll start by saying that i have nothing against anyone that ships gjhm, that's the beauty of fandom and aus and stories. however, i have tried to see the appeal in a realistically speaking sense within the context of the actual story and i just cannot. for the life of me. Like it's pretty evident that Utahime does not like Gojo, and that he's very disrespectful towards her, however, there is the trust they share because of their roles as teachers and their ideology. it's not that Utahime is an unreasonable person that would turn down an offer that would put her students in harms way right? but the thing is, I don't think the story ever set up any sublots for them to like each other you know? And I don't wanna be a killjoy when i say this altho i probably am, but rather that it's just not something author has envisioned for them?
i do think Gojo likes Utahime, but just not in a romantic sense, and this sort of dynamic is really reminiscent of that i would find in siblings, where one is endlessly annoying and the other wants to strangle the younger. i think if the story went the other way instead of the one it went now, Utahime and Gojo should cooperate and be understanding of one another as in good colleagues/friends? but given how Utahime was written and her limited appears in the story, luckluster and underwhelming sometimes, it's nearly impossible, and it's mostly on gege because all these characters have so much potential yet he only utilizes them as plot devices, in short it's not about the characters unfortunately.
and frankly i can't blame people for creating aus, in fact go ahead, it's what makes shipping so great! like i love to ship gojo too, mostly with geto or sometimes shoko heck i even like to pair him with ocs or readers too! but idk why i just can't picture him and Utahime ever being in a relationship at least within the story like context. again i don't wanna undermine anyone who loves this ship, i am all supporting but i just wanted to get out how i see it. Hope this wasn't confusing!
I see what you're coming from, Anon! People have varying preferences/opinions, and that's the beauty of it! I know Gege wouldn't draw out a romance plot line because he stated he ONLY sees it for mutamiwa. I can be delusional with gjhm BUT realistically, I’d never trust Gege EVER to handle a romance plot line cuz it will probably end tragically lol.
Imma try to speak from gojohime pov and give some insight why I personally love the ship.
I think the gjhm fans that I've seen doesn't ship them just because its ability to be canon but instead the dynamic that gjhm offers. Like you said Utahime does hate him while Gojo seems to like her, and the most funny part for me is that Gojo genuinely believes her "annoyance" is a joke between them. The way I see it, it offers this a slowburn romantic comedy potential with Gojo learning to get over himself, step up, and have this massive realization of falling for Utahime. I had this convo with my moot ola and moot said how basically Gojo just went “shit, she CAN fix me!” with Utahime (Because ya know how Utahime is everything Gojo isn’t) thus he continues to bug her xD
There's just so much to "play" with their dynamics honestly if you take them out of the canon story. You'd think that a slow burn romance would be two people earning each other's trust then doing all the slowly loving/liking part, but since the story already has set up that gjhm have each other trust because they share the goal of teachers fostering the new generation of sorcerers plus their decade of familiarity with each other, it makes you think what's more to this slowburn romcom?
Well, the way I see it, their opposing teaching beliefs can help them learn from each other and be better teachers. Gojo will be forced out of his emotionally constipated ways. Utahime's strength in her patience and ability to connect with other will be highlighted. They can be such a fun colleagues to lovers slowburn romcom type of story ya know which I honestly find hilarious xD So yehhh thats basically why I ship these two fuckers :^)

Then I guess you're a better person than me, Gojo!!
Because I hate Gege Akutami and I'm *very* angry on your behalf 😃 I’m (sort of) kidding but damn... thoughts on 236 below the cut!!
I held off posting earlier because I felt like going scorched earth on everything jjk. I took some time to clear up some of the translations I wasn't sure about and let the reality sink in, and now I'm ready to talk about this chapter rationally lol.
Firstly, I wanna say that my issue with this chapter isn’t Gojo dying or even the way that he died. I always knew that Gojo dying was likely, but here?? Now???? I've spent all day turning it over in my mind and trying to make it work, but it just won't.
I think Gojo's 'delusion' (daydream? afterlife?) is really beautiful in isolation. Some of the dialogue is really touching and I think it'll benefit from the emotional impact delivered by the full translations. The problem is what follows.
After 235, people were nervous that Gojo hadn't actually won yet. I waited to see what some trusted translators thought of the editor's comment before deciding it was a conclusive win for Gojo, and what I read reassured me that the win would remain intact even if he died at some point over the course of December 24.
In the past couple of chapters, we were told that Sukuna was 'nervous' for the first time in 1000 years and he thought Hollow Purple at close range would be fatal. At the end of 235, Sukuna is looking pretty terrible while Gojo looks fresh as a daisy after fighting in inspiring, inventive ways throughout.
So to find out that, actually, he *hasn't* won and he's been killed by getting cut in half offscreen feels like shock value for the sake of shock value. There have been a few 'shock factor' moments during this fight and they've always bothered me a little, but I could excuse them for the sake of hype building in a weekly manga. However, I never anticipated anything on this level and I'm genuinely so disappointed.
I think this long-awaited fight ending this way cheapens Gojo's character *and* Sukuna's character (and Kashimo's character for that matter!), and ultimately makes the entire thing feel meaningless. 'Meaning' is the thread that has run through Gojo's entire arc, tying him back to Suguru as he sought to build a better world. I always felt certain that Gojo's life and death would have meaning, even if it ended tragically, but I just can't find the meaning in this. I think I understand what Gege was trying to do, but he really didn't sell it for me.
There’s nothing worse than when a story makes you feel stupid for getting invested, and that’s how I’m feeling right now. I find myself wondering, what was the point in bringing Gojo back at all??? Keep him in the box and very little changes in the story, unless it transpires that Gojo 'weakening' Sukuna for the students was his grand purpose after all which... really??
Even worse, I *always* said if it was between Gojo and the students, I wanted Gojo to die. Since 212, getting Megumi back has been my number one priority, but 236 has achieved what I previously thought impossible. I literally don't even want Megumi to come back anymore, because I just can't imagine how he could live with himself after 'killing' Tsumiki and Gojo. It seems kinder for him to die with Sukuna and I *never* thought I would say that.
I'm feeling like a real clown for the meta I posted after 235. I want to take it down because I was so certain that Gojo had won, but I won't because I don't believe my reading of Gojo's character was wrong. I just think my expectations were too high, even though I tried hard to temper them. Even so, telling Megumi about Toji being left to Shoko? Gojo losing and leaving his students to clean up the mess again?? Gojo not even *mentioning* his students in his dying daydream???
It all just feels wrong. Gojo has been turned into nothing more than a plot device at the absolute last second, and maybe it's on me for ever expecting that he would be anything more than that in a series where he isn't the main character, but why bother writing Hidden Inventory then? Why bother getting us invested in this man's story at all?
Right now, I'm feeling like I don't even want to watch tomorrow's episode, but I am interested to see whether Gege can pull this arc off in the long term. I've seen people talking about resurrection theories because of the enlightenment hints and, while I do see the vision, I think Gojo's acceptance of his death and letting go of his regrets can also be read as enlightenment as he escapes the mortal coil once and for all.
Gojo's dying bloody smile shows he's at least happy in his final moments, so my feeling is that Gojo is truly dead and gone. I really want to trust that Gege will make this work, but damn. This is a tragedy.
(Although, if Gojo actually is at peace in death, maybe that's the reason Gege will bring him back. He'll *never* let that man be happy, I swear.)
To end on a positive note, the SatoSugu crumbs were beautiful and teenage Gojo's facial expressions were wonderful. I'm crying again just thinking about the contrast of that last adorable smile with his blank expression on the next page.
I'm dropping all my canonverse WIPs and working exclusively on AU fics for the foreseeable future 😤 I'm gonna give Gojo all the happy endings he deserves!!!
(fuck. poor poor shoko.)

i'm stressed and i nd to ask, what do you think will happen now with megumi and yuji?
Death.
Tumblr media
But joking (or not) I believe we have no way of knowing for sure, Akutami is a box of surprises with each arc we experience reading. I think what we have to do now is absorb the possibilities, understand every minute tip he left in the previous chapters to understand and arrive at something that can give an indication of where the text is heading.
And, well, I think saying my opinion about everything that's going on is almost wanting to keep hope lol I only read the leak in JP and therefore my translation and interpretation could be wrong. Anyway, I ended up slowing JJK again early on and, I can tell you, everything that happened in this new chapter didn't shock me. I mean, every detail between itafushi and the dialogue that Megumi exchanged with Sukuna implies what Gege would do, I just didn't know the moment or how it would be then, about the way it happened, I'm surprised.
Since I saw the spoilers, I questioned myself a lot about things like: Will Yuji make it out alive now? Megumi is the only death in the end? (I'll focus on both because the question is about itafushi, ok?)
Tumblr media
We know that at that moment his (Yuji) death is unfeasible, not because he is the protagonist because that doesn't save him, but because of his relationship with Kenjaku. Akutami still has work to develop and Yuji needs to develop even more, even if his end is death he has a way to go. And despite the angst, I am very satisfied with the chapter because Megumi is always Yuji's cause and will be his motivation to have strength because one wants to save the other. One wishes the other to live a long and fair life. And Yuji will not allow Sukuna to disgrace Megumi's integrity.
Tumblr media
Of course it might be something that will take chapters to come to pass, but I like to think I'm right about that because Megumi is important to Yuji and we've already had enough proof of how much Yuji gives himself for those he loves. And gives his life per people, as he also “understands” his place in this world. He will know what to do.
Tumblr media
Megumi is like that too, he also gives of himself and doesn't think when it comes to the people he loves: Yuji and Tsumiki (not that Gojo or Nobara aren't important). He fights for them and we had that punctuated in this chapter when Sukuna takes control of Yuji's body and Megumi doesn't think twice and acts on it. And it is very logical for Sukuna to act now, because now Megumi is vulnerable enough to question whether the curse in charge of her body is worth fighting.
And just like Yuji, Megumi has a purpose in all of this.
Tumblr media
After all, how hurt will he be if he has the notion that he will possibly hurt people he loves? I believe Akutami will say something about this, about Megumi and Sukuna arguing at some point (or not). My only certainty is that Sukuna will make Megumi responsible for her sister's death. Hana may also die if Angel x Sukuna occurs. And maybe Megumi/Sukuna and Gojo will face each other at some point if everything unfolds as I believe it will.
Yuji vs Megumi/Sukuna is a possibility, as I mentioned above given everything that happens between them, but will it happen now? Or much later? Sukuna is unpredictable, it might torture Yuji if he acts at this point on the fact that Megumi is now the vessel. If no one shows up to help Yuji, I'm sure he'll be very hurt physically because, as I mentioned, I don't think Yuji is going to die. Not now.
Obviously these are speculations. However, I trust Megumi's strength a lot although I find it very interesting for Akutami to release this now, even if predictable in a way, because he simply paved the way by showing Megumi's emotional decline in this arc. I mean, how mad and impatient is he here?
Tumblr media
How agonized is he that he can't allow Yuji to get away? Megumi isn't stupid, but the uncertainty of Sukuna's plan made him believe that he and Yuji could handle it. They are children, after all. They trusted their convictions and hoped that everything would go well just by being together. Even Yuji's fear of something happening, he didn't completely go against Megumi's decisions about sticking by each other's side in this mess.
Tumblr media
And yes, maybe we don't even have Megumi's perception anymore, he might be gone for good. However, despite considering it a possibility, I don't believe it. I know that to dramatize it further, Akutami will voice Megumi at some point to bring Yuji to his peak, as he and Megumi have a very strong bond from the beginning.
Their death is a possible reality not to be ruled out because of all the possibilities out there, I can't see itafushi coming out alive in the end, since the beginning I was introduced to the manga: either the two die or one of them dies. The cloud of death just constantly hovers over their heads at all times.
They will sacrifice themselves to try and save each other.
Tumblr media
Anyway, regardless of the direction they take, I'm completely ecstatic and more in love with everything that involves itafushi and the entire jujutsu kaisen text because every dialogue and every exchange of words makes this moment, this harrowing event, even more poetic.

Apparently the Japanese fandom is even more so pissed about ch 261. Which I think is surprising because the Japanese side any anime/manga seem to be consistent readers/watchers.
However I saw some of the Japanese fans say that there was a mistranslation when the chapter leaked and that yuta is going to be in gojos body for 5 minutes to heal it and then they’ll switch back. But I wouldn’t get my hopes up and I don’t trust Gege
interesting, but yeah I don't trust gege at all 😭 I'm not getting my hopes up for anything
I wish we knew how the technique worked bc like how does the switch work?? Do they physically have to move their brain or do they just do something to the original persons brain (like act like a parasite or something??) I've also wondered for a long time why kenny has the stitches bc he could easily use rct to heal it back together but maybe having the stitches is a condition of the ability idk

Jjk 261 leaks ahead:
Alright I was going to post about this in the morning but I got distracted and needed time to process everything anyways.
I don't usually share my thoughts on the new chapters publicly but I will make an exception now 😔.
Yap incoming
ok, so there were a lot of theories floating around before 261 about if we would actually be getting a gojo comeback or not. Honestly, some people pointed out why gojo reviving might not be the best decision for the story, but I was placing bets on it anyways because I too was pretty bummed by his end and also because my naive self chose to believe it was the most likely choice for gege to make.
However I did try to keep my hopes reasonable, choosing to belive that it could just be a hallucination.
Truthfully, I didn't think it would be Kenjaku. I'd seen the theory that it could be them but I honestly doubted gege would do that. Yet in the depths of my copium filled soul I had always been holding onto the hope that kenjaku would somehow return to the story. When I tell you my secret little stash of cope was as potent as some gojo fans im telling the truth 😭.
I honestly hoped maybe it would be kenjaku, just maybe. This morning I sought out the leaks and you know what I saw? This:
Tumblr media
I was DYING. For a second I thought gege had really done, I was in disbelief, I was in shock, I briefly wondered if this was a joke.
AND THEN I WAS SO HAPPY. I was like: Yes! Answers! Yuji-kenjaku interactions! An unexpected twist in the fight! Forget the logistics of how kenjaku ended up in Gojo's body, I was going to trust gege's cooking and enjoy the chapter before taking a step back and critiquing anything.
And then I read that it wasn't kenjaku. It was Yuta using kenjaku's ct.
Tumblr media
I didn't want to belive it could be Yuta. Of all the outcome I thought it CANNOT be Yuta. Not possibly. BUT IT WAS. IT WAS YUTA.
I have felt emotional when consuming media before, and sometimes underwhelmed or critical when something didn't rub me the right way, but I'd never understood people who act so utterly devastated by an author's decisions.
I UNDERSTAND NOW.
I've been mourning all day man 😭. My gojo cope, my kenjaku cope, all of it down the drain just like that AND ALL AT ONCE. I genuinely am not sure what about this chapter gas prompted such emotion in me. Am I lobotomized after all? I choose to belive its the sheer shock of this chapters events.
Tbh, I read the rest of the chapter in a bit of a daze and I'd have to go back and look over it again to share any actual thoughts or analysis, but I will says some other things stood out at me about it.
first of all, I don't hate Yuta. He's not my favorite character but I don't hate him and I wish the best to you yuta fans, however yall are feeling. his line about how the others are so worried about becoming monsters, unknowing that they've forced that role onto gojo all this time hit pretty hard for me. And now Yuta is taking on the same role since gojo's gone. He's strong and is not just taking Gojo's body but in a way taking on his position as the 'monster' of the jujutsu world, even if only for the dubious amount of time he had left.
Also the way sukuna just, punches yuji aside 😭. Nahh. The disrespect. He rlly just sees yuta in gojo's body and tosses yuji away. Rlly hope my boy beats him up next chapter and it doesn't become a yuta-one-man-show.
Overall I'm dying, I'm crying, I'm gritting my teeth, I miss kenjaku, I miss gojo, rip yuta 😭
(Please gege give me my wife back. Even just a kenjaku flashback is enough. Gege pls.)

Gojo isn't dead.
in his fight with Toji, he said that the only reason To didn't kill him was because he didn't cut off his head.
His head is still intact.
We know he can regrow limbs too-
So I don't think this is the end.
I'm going to answer under the cut because it might get a bit long.
Yeah, we know he can regrow limbs, but taking into account that Gege hates him, I highly doubt he'll come back from this. I've seen a lot of people saying that this whole "going North or going South" that Nanami mentions might hint that Gojo is coming back because he said goodbye to his dead friends and didn't choose a direction but-
I don't know. It's Gege we're talking about.
However, I'm glad you feel confident. Truly. I do think the Toji thing is a very good point, but at this point with all the bs Gege has been pulling out basically since The Culling Games... I guess I'm saying I don't trust him because plot-wise, we have nothing. And it shows.
Gege got Gojo out of the box when they did because they feared (more) people would stop reading JJK. It wasn't because it was right for the plot, because they planned it like that, or even because the timing was right. Gege got him out of the box because people were done with the series, and The Culling Games were literally getting nowhere.
The funny thing about this is how you create such an overpowered character knowing that he will be very difficult to remove, and then you hate him. You despise him. As if it hadn't been you that created him in the first place. And I am mentioning this because it is very clear with this shitshow of a fight that Gege was pulling things out of their ass to see how he could actually manage to kill Gojo off. But they couldn't. That's why we had this whole "oh he might die this chapter" and then "nah, he's fine". In Spanish we call it "tira y encoge" , or pull and shrink, and it basically means that nothing is really happening because it's just a tug rope game.
Moreover, Gege planned something different for JJK during The Culling Games, it fell through because after three years everyone was getting impatient for Gojo's return and whatever they'd do to get him out, and it is clear that the plot has fell through ever since. Gojo's death against Sukuna just shows that. If Gege were thinking, truly thinking about the plot and whatever story they supposedly want to tell, they would have allowed Gojo this small victory against Sukuna to let him fail against Kenjaku---it would still allow the kids to show what they can do, and Gojo would still have died like Gege wanted to. It would have made more sense and it would have given everyone a false sense of security, while also giving Gojo the "chance" to try and recover Geto's body.
Did Gege want him to have the same death anniversary as Geto? Maybe. Do I care? Not really.
Sorry for the long rant. I'm a pessimist by nature and between Shibuya getting animated, Gege's bs, and reliving Nanami's death through Gojo... I had a lot of thoughts. Hopefully, you'll be right and Gojo will actually come back to kick Sukuna's ass.

Gege needs to tell us more about the Itadori family already. Honestly, like you said, Kenjaku had no real reason to kill Jin even if he found out about the plan, which would have had to be through Kennie.
If you think about it, it makes even less sense for them to kill him. They trusted Yuuji's upbringing to grandpa, who opposed them directly and was already suspicious; Yuuji went on to have a relatively normal childhood and (initially) highschool life, as we know of. Up to the point he met Megumi and swallowed Sukuna's finger, he was a somewhat regular teenager.
And if Yuuji grew up having such an ordinary life up to a certain point, without much of Kennie's interference (that we know of), I don't understand why Jin would have been killed. You get what I'm saying? It's not like Kenjaku did anything to Yuuji that would cause protest from Jin. Again, he mostly grew up as a regular kid. I hope we get more flashbacks so we can know why Jin is dead (or is he?) and what motivated it. Maybe Kenjaku will be the one to bring it up when the time comes. Still have a suspicion that papa Itadori is alive. Wasuke wanted to tell Yuuji about both parents, after all.
Yeah, I've always thought the "Kenjaku killed Jin" theory was very unrealistic, exactly because Kenjaku has no reason to kill him and they don't resort to murder just for the hell of it. Not for a single person at least, more widespread terrorism, yes, but even for that there is a time and a place. I'm still a strong believer in "Jin is alive and probably working with Kenjaku". However, if they had a very personal reason for killing him...now that would make more sense. I mean, look how they treat Yuuji and Tengen and we know they definitely care about them.
Jin must have raised Yuuji for the first few years, since Yuuji can remember him somewhat. It's odd that Kenjaku would suddenly change their mind and elect Wasuke as the sole guardian. I do think it is possible that Kenjaku did something to Yuuji when he was younger (experiments to raise his poison immunity e.g.) that Jin disagreed with, but like you said, Wasuke criticized them even more and they let him live. They clearly wanted a somewhat normal childhood for Yuuji and as far as we know, Jin could have provided that just as much. Even if we assume Jin had a CT and attacked them, he would have to be very strong for them to kill him and not just avoid confrontation and leave Yuuji in his care. I mean, they never really tried to kill Choso for example because he is no threat to them. They just want him out of the way.
So either Yandere Kenny canon or Jin is still alive and he chose to stick to his wife instead of his son (for some reason). Or Kenjaku thought he had bad vibes and Wasuke would be a better pick.

INDEPENDENT AND SELECTIVE SUGURU GETŌ FROM GEGE AKUTAMI'S JUJUTSU KAISEN. A STUDY IN SYSTEMIC FAILURE, EVIL AT THE HANDS OF A SOFT HEART, VILLAINY SO DEVASTATING IT BURNS BRIDGES, & FALSE PROPHETS. MAY CONTAIN THEMES OF HORROR, GORE, GRIEF, & DEATH. PENNED BY DOLLIE. CONNECTIONS : @visioncursed , @everlied .
current verses. please read my carrd for detailed descriptions of each verse.
in this one, we made it: one of two main verses for suguru. follows a plot where he is presently a teacher at jujutsu high after nearly completely losing his mind. the events of the village massacre still exist, and it's up to your muse on how they'd view him, if they'd forgive him, if they'd trust him. however, suguru does still follow his strict moral code of protecting the weak, and acknowledges that some non-users do not deserve to die, and therefore has no desire to wipe out any mass populations. he does still struggle with giving empathy for those who don't deserve it. for the safety and protection of his loved ones, he still fights curses and trains new students.
my rage grows a voice, teeth, claws: second main verse. this one gets most of my interactions because it follows canon compliance up until suguru's death, as i understand suguru's villainy is important to many people's characterizations. typically use this verse to write during the 10 year stretch, but it's flexible anywhere in the timeline up until the end of jjk0, as i don't write kenjaku!geto.
no grave can hold my body down: very low activity verse, done by request and/or by plotting. this follows all current anime canon where kenjaku is in possession of suguru's body. however, some divergence comes into play as i will be utilizing this verse to explore the strength of a soul, and what it would mean if suguru was somehow able to regain full consciousness/sentience over his body based on sheer muscle memory and strength.

Does Gojo care about Utahime on a personal level or just as a comrade/ally? Like i see people create hilarious "essays" to try and convince others why he might like her but there's absolutely nothing in canon to back that up let alone justify it.
I'm pretty sure that they're not even friends, they just work together because Utahime is understanding and trusts Gojo because she loves her students. Yet someone on reddit said how she's the only female he trusts like whaaat??? What about Shoko, Nanami, Ijichi and others? And this trust btw has nothing to do with having a close bond with someone because that's obviously not the case, it's more about the comradeship sorcerers share with each other. Some people want Gojo to have a love interest because they think only that way his character can make sense and it's the reason why he's not close to anyone, that's not true, he's not close to anyone because he's still carrying past trauma and the fact that he's standing above everyone else, not many know Gojo Satoru, they trust him, but they don't respect him, even if they don't idolize and envy him but who knows? Gojo's character is not about being fulfilled by giving him a forced romance, it's about him living through his dream and reforming the society (if he succeeds even) his love is not about romantic, but about loving in a natural human way which Gege seems to show it happens though his students and friendship in general.
It's not Gege that doesn't know what to do with his character, he already fleshed him out how he deemed was fitting and to say that he missed a great deal for not giving a love life is really stupid because it's just not what he envisions for him, it's not a hard thing to understand really.
Apologizes for the long rant Lele!
Hi, anon!!
I also don't really like romance in my shonen manga, because coming from WSJ, they are rarely well-written. Romance is not a necessity - and this is pretty apparent in jjk. Both Gojou and Utahime already stand quite strong as characters without involving romance between them. Canon-wise, I also don't think any romance would be happening between them, as Gege also said in his last interview - that he doesn't see romance happening in the series, except for Mechamiwa.
However this doesn't mean the ship itself is less valid. Fandom today is really fixated on making their ship become canon - so different from back then. I don't think there's nothing wrong with shipping any of the characters, but once again: it's all fanon. Fanon should stay in its lane. I may ship itafushi but do I want them to be canon? Not really.

WBMR for Denki, Aki and Power of Chainsaw Man?
I was wondering when someone was gonna request them. I don't trust this series to have a satisfactory ending at all.
Also, I feel like an idiot, because I thought Chainsaw Man was created by Gege Akutami (creator of Jujutsu Kaisen) but I was wrong. I thought that they shared the same creator, because both animated adaptations are provided by the same studio (Studio MAPPA). The REAL creator of Chainsaw Man is Tatsuki Fujimoto, not Gege.
And here's an FYI: Denji will be aged up 20yo, because how in the world do you create a series where everyone is of legal age EXCEPT the protagonist?!
Hayakawa Denji is now Karnage King Denji, B-Rank Magi, Assigned Gemstone is Pigeon Blood Ruby, Essence is Chaos/Darkness;
At first glance, it's clear that Denji is not your average Magi. His aesthetics are intense and bloody, and he craves chaos as a way of escapism;
Has legally registered himself with the Hayakawa surname, after spending some time in Aki's company;
He currently struggles about his sexuality, and is currently learning about the ace/aro spectrum;
Denji is fervently (albeit accidentally, given his illiteracy) anti-capitalist. He believes that life could be so much easier if "The Man" didn't screwed up so many lives for personal gain;
He sees no difference between the Devils and Incubators, and exterminates them all with the same usual energy;
Despite his adrenaline-fueled desires, he wants to mellow out to ensure a comfortable future for Nayuta, his protegé;
As a Magi, Denji wants to change, but doesn't want to lose his personality in the process. No longer in a dangerous environment, he aims to achieve the balance between chaos and order within himself.
Coming up next is Aki:
Hayakawa Aki is now Silver Shooter Aki, A-Rank Magi, Assigned Gemstone is Galena, Essence is Darkness;
Aki is the most rational of the group, and Denji looks up to him for advice in raising Nayuta;
Denji is also fiercely protective of Aki. He knows that he's skilled, but the chainsaw hybrid has seen things. VERY scarring things;
Upon learning about police brutality and other several injustices, he switches sides, now adehering to the #ACAB movement;
He believes that power and influence should be used with caution and discipline, instead of fear-mongering;
Despite being so serious, he has a child-like fascination towards the winter season, as he deeply craves the company and warmth of a family;
Of course, given his desire of vengeance, Aki is very family-oriented. He ensures that no other person suffer what he has suffered;
His goal as a Magi is to move on from his revenge. He now wants to honor his family's memories, by raising one of his own, even if they aren't biologically bonded.
Last but not least, here comes Power:
Hayakawa Power is now Blood Fiend Power, A-Rank Magi, Assigned Gemstone is Red Spinel, Essence is Chaos;
Much like Denji, she has legally integrated herself as a Hayakawa. She says it's because she wants to heckle Aki forever, but her true intentions go much deeper than that;
Power has trust issues, so it's hard for her to open up and befriend anyone who isn't Denji or Aki;
However, she does seem to get along better with animals (to the point of even imitating them);
Even though she has mellowed out a bit, she is still a menace. She gets bored easily, and will cause problems on purpose;
If she takes a liking to you, she will infodump you with the most disgusting and fucked up facts about the human body and human flesh/organ consumption;
Is a huge fan of body mods (tattoos and piercings), and dreams of getting both someday;
Power isn't keen on Wondaria's fairytale-like atmosphere, but she's willing to do anything to avoid death and solitude;
As a Magi, she will do whatever the hell she likes, and will advise others to do the same. After all, we're all demonized in one way or another, no matter what we do.

right so, i don't have that many strong opinions on side characters tbh, but i really do agree with what the op on reddit said regarding people getting too attached to quirky characters and expecting them to be something big later in the story even though they were never intended that way. i think personally for utahime (i'll get to shoko in a sec) is that majority of her fans want to see more of her simply because they ship her with gojo, even though that pairing has no basis whatsoever nor any proper foundation to make sense in the entirety of the jjk plot. i don't think utahime was created to be gojo's extra or whatever, i think gege created her with the purpose solely to show how gojo is being treated and percieved by those around him, he is annoying, plenty characters react differently to his antics. shippers ofc will treat this differently because tsundere is such a major thing in anime, needless to say i think it's wrong because utahime is an adult who has had to put up with gojo's bs for over 10 years, and regardless what some may say, i don't think they are close friends, or friends even, nothing in the show says this, i think they work together and trust each other simply because they have same positions in the school, same as kusakabe. now i think utahime could do anything in the story, if gege wants her to, but i dont think she's gonna be doing anything big because as the op on reddit said, if she did bare minimum then she'll continue to do so, her and anyone else. perhaps her role was to root out the mole and be done with it, perhaps later in the story she will suffer the consequences if the mole is revealed and for being in cahoots with gojou. other than that, gege just brought yuji and megumi back after almost a year i think? nobara still nowhere to be found, status unknown or know (dead?) manga is fast paced. shoko is supposed to be important because her skill is very valued as she's a rare technique healer, however she's also nowhere to be seen, there are theories that she could be the second traitor but im not sure? she's not in the higher rank nor is she a higher up so? she used to be trio with gojo and geto, they shared some experiences together but all that is just sidelined and exists/ sashisu fanarts are great i love them but i think they are deluding people in how close these three may have been if they even were.
the only female character that i like is maki, she has had the most development but a part of me still does feel like gege doesn't treat her that well either. idk, i wish i could know why but maybe again it's simply because it's shonen. jjk has a very limited cast and mostly what i see some people talk about is which ship is gonna be canon and which characters have most chemistry, i dont think this matters people will always ship no matter what. i just find it hilarious how on twitter people come up with 50 pages of essay trying to convince people why two characters that had the barest minimum of interaction need to become a thing at the end, especially when said characters hadn't gotten along for a decade. gege literally said that he cannot imagine gojo being sincere to any woman/ that alone is enough to confirm that his main character will not have a romantic subplot, at least no more than the one he "had" with Geto i imagine? dunno, the subtext is there. lastly i just don't care, if people wanna ship this or that, the main issue here is character utilization or better yet are they even supposed to be utilized more than what they already did. i think there's also a pretty good chance that many of them will end up dying, gege literally said no one can return to their normal daily lives after shibuya. needless, i think wanting to see a character more in the story simply because of the ship is a petty reason and just somebody having a wishful thinking that desires a wish fullfilment because characters serve as a projection.
idk, i hope this gives u some insight on what i had in mind but well, if u have more to share please do so! i enjoyed reading ur thoughts :)
yeah i don’t think utahime and gojo are that close lol. i don’t think gojo is that close with anyone—at least, not anymore (rip to my man geto). (this also ties back to a post i made previously about the interview you mentioned)
people in fandom will always ship (hell, i ship characters), but i think people need to learn how to enjoy a piece of media without constantly involving them. it’s totally ok for you to like a ship and want more content for it, but it sometimes gets to the point where they completely misunderstand/misrepresent the two characters and stop viewing the manga as a manga. writing is a form of art that has purpose, themes, symbols, metaphors, etc. it’s meant to be analyzed. you can have fun with it as well (shipping is often harmless) but that’s ultimately not what the manga is about. have fun with fandom, have fun with shipping, but remember to take off your shipping or fanon lenses when reading/analyzing the actual material.
i also don’t think utahime is meant to have a big role. her fans wishing they had more content is perfectly fine, but sometimes side characters are just side characters. like i said before, not everyone has a big role to play, and that’s completely normal. the best part about fandom is that you can produce content. write fanfics, creat art, think of headcanons, etc. if you like a character that doesn’t have much content, then make some yourself (which is what majority of utahime stans do, at least from what i’ve seen).
i don’t have an opinion on utahime. if i had to, then yeah i can imagine a situation where she might become relevant again, but i don’t particularly care one way or the other.
oh!! i also don’t think a majority of the characters will be alive at the end of the manga. gege loves his angst, he loves his character deaths, which is an aspect of his writing i love so much. i feel like a lot of manga authors (especially after gaining popularity) are scared of killing off characters or get stopped by their editors. there’s also an interview that states “among gojo and the first years, either one person will die or everyone will die except one person” and i can’t wait to see which one it is.

❝ you remain an awful liar, ❞ hunter says after a moment of silence between them. ❝ you may be able to fool everyone around you. ❞ movement coming to a halt halfway the steps as he looks backwards, up at the general. ❝ but your smile does not reach your eyes, jing yuan. ❞
@artisaen / no meme / always accepting.
he breathes out a soft sigh, head inclining against his own knuckles in FULL KNOWING how painfully troublesome this conversation is about to be ( yet he regrets how he now selfishly endears and relishes in it like the old days ).
❝ and you remain a poor sport. ❞ he retorts in a slow drawl, on the verge of dishing out a yawn or two as he pretends his wounds aren't past surface deep. perhaps it was both good fortune and an incessant nightmare that blade has no one to rat him out on. the little snitch, he silently reminiscences on his own in amusement, keeping his tone flippant as though not burdened by the yearning of his thousands heartaches for just that one snitch, his everything, even if they all know he's a fool dressed in deceit and agonies that BROKE him over and over a million times for centuries long. ❝ you never know how to simply leave things be. ❞
neither did jing yuan.
Tumblr media
however, the art of hypocrisy is not to avoid it, but to perform it till one's dying breath, as far as his heart can spend out of care, and jing yuan knows his time to be increasingly short. both of them do so why squander it on a dying man ? at the very least, he wish not to leave this world behind in misery and DESPAIR, wish for the people he loves to continue moving on and see the world for the beauty it is. and he knows those whom he will soon come to leave behind will uphold that request, even the man who's now criticizing him. especially him.
dragging another half smile from the edge of his lips, jing yuan glances over blade with a HAZY, contemplative yet, fond look. memories replay in his head, good ones, a bittersweet reminder that unlike blade, he has NOTHING except his memories and dreams to keep him busy and wanting. nothing to call as his, not his life, old friends or his love. ( but that's alright, that's alright. ) knowing that the beautiful man in front of him has his own calling and place to return can reassure the general to leave it all behind when he needs to without worry and follow the smokey trails of incense into his next incarnation .. lest jing yuan risk ruining the path and home blade forged for himself with a careless whisper of yearning.
he inhales a sharp intake of breath, SHAKILY.
you'll be fine, gege. i trust you will be — and that is something he can truly look forward to in earnest.
❝ well then, here's a suggestion. why don't you smile in my stead, bladie ? ❞ he asks with a teasing edge, with a pained pinch at the end of his statement, as if his heart isn't plunging and beating dangerously rapid against his chest, as if his breathing isn't becoming more laboured and difficult to take, as if the sight of the man before him isn't becoming increasingly blurred and unsteady —
i've always loved your smile, you know ?

I stay up all night, Tell myself I'm alright Baby, you're just harder to see than most I put the record on, Wait 'til I hear our song Every night I'm dancing with your ghost
┕━━━━━━━━━━━✿━━━━━━━━━━┙
"Please, answer me!" You cry out in the air when you heard the dial tone ringing, on his end, for the nth time. You must have called Kento an innumerable number of times. Pacing around in circles in the living room, you look at the clock and notice that it was past 6pm. There were very few cases where he came back home later than usual. But even then, he'd notify you whenever he'd be late. This was the first time he didn't communicate anything at all.
knock knock
Suddenly, you hear two knocks on your door. Worry started to sink in because Kento wouldn't knock on the door. When you check the phone for any more texts from him, you saw that the last text that he sent you was: Darling, I will always love you... Your breathing staggers, meanwhile you hear two more knocks on your door.
Four knocks. You'd watched Doctor Who the other day, and the last time they mentioned four knocks, you knew things were not great at all. Something was bound to happen. So, this seemed quite ominous. This time, however, you couldn't imagine this happening to you.
Mentally preparing your worst-case scenario, you open the door to see Yuuji Itadori, all battered, bloodied, and bruised from combat. "Itadori-kun, is everything okay? Where is Kento?" you ask him with a quivering breath. "(Y/N)-san," Itadori continue, panting and trembling, seeming clueless about the next few words he was going to say. Eventually, he lets go and his eyes start to swell up with tears. "Nanamin, he..." "Did he die?" You put it bluntly, causing Itadori to silently nod and be surprised at the same time.
Tumblr media
You weren't sure why you did that. You weren't the blunt one, he was. Kento was always the logical one out of the two of you. He had a plan for everything, he was always blunt in his approach. A realist. But ever since he met you, his life was filled with joy, peace, hope & love. You were someone who had a positive outlook on life. You were better at expressing compassion than he was. Not to say that he wasn't compassionate, it's just that his way of showing kindness was like the silent rustling of leaves. You don't hear it often, but when you do, it feels peaceful.
When you two eventually got married, you knew that the future would be unsteady, like if you're walking with high heels on cobblestones. His job came with its challenges. While the idea of fighting cursed spirits seemed rather intriguing, interesting, and intimidating, you were willing to support him all the way through. Come September, when you learned that you were pregnant with his baby, you were wanting to tell him so as to surprise him. You had a plan that once you were a family, you’d go to Malaysia, read some books on the beach and enjoy a much-needed honeymoon with you.
However, when he confessed how dangerous the Shibuya incident would be, you had no choice but to tell him and told him that he had to stay alive, for her and for the baby. No sooner did he hear the good news, than he started to cry. He, of all people, could never imagine being a father, let alone being a good father. He never usually talks about his family, because when he wants to, all the hurt comes up in front of him. But with you, it was easy. He was able to pour out all the hurt that he’d held in his heart.
He had a really bad childhood growing up. His mother was very kind to him, but his father? He didn't have a relationship with his father. He would place a lot of expectations on Kento. When he learned that Kento wanted to go to Tokyo Jujutsu High INSTEAD of a normal high school, only Kento could feel the number of times he was thrashed by his father. So, he was looking forward to being a better father, for the sake of the baby, for your sake, and for a chance at redemption, in life.
Tumblr media
You’d promise to be there for each other, forever. But, it seemed that someone took it away from you. No, they stole it from you. “Itadori-kun, how did it happen?” You ask him with a straight face. Itadori was too scared to utter the whole story.“Ma-Ma-Ma-Mahito, he…” Itadori kept stuttering. You noticed the look in his eyes. It seemed to have been bloodshot for a while in anger. This poor kid was under Kento's tutelage for a while so it hurt him all too much.
Sighing, you take Itadori into your arms and let him shed his tears peacefully. As you take Itadori into your home and start tending to his wounds, you turn to see a small silhouette of someone you thought you knew. You squint your eyes and to your surprise, you see Kento in front of you. But he didn’t look like the Kento you knew. He did not have his glasses. He was scorched on one side. He looked exhausted. Yet he stood there, smiling. You look at him and decide to have a telepathic conversation as it would spook Itadori out if you spoke out loud...
“Hi, love,” Kento softly calls out to you. You scowl at him and exclaim, “Don’t hi, love me. Who did this to you?” Kento raised his palm forward to calm you down. He then said, “(Y/N), darling. It’s okay. You’ll see that this is for the benefit of …” You then scream, “Don’t you dare be the one giving me this “benefit of mankind” bullshit. Kento, please don’t go. Our baby…” He then smiles at you, with a tear in his eye, saying, “Our baby will have your eyes. Maybe my hair, but definitely your eyes. I love you (Y/N). I have a strong feeling that she, because I want the baby to be a girl, will grow to be the best woman she wants to be, because of you.”
Tears start to stream down your cheeks. “But she’ll not have you, Kento.” You cry out loud. “Neither will I. Neither will I…” No sooner did Kento's apparition disappear than all the equipment you were using to tend to Itadori fell out of your hand as you fell to the ground on your knees.“(Y/N)-san, are you okay?” Itadori screams out to you, holding you by your arms. “Itadori-kun,” you reply, trembling, slowly becoming numb with tears streaming down your cheeks as reality starts to sink in. “Kento and I were going to have a baby. We were going to be a family.” It was now Itadori’s turn to envelop you in his arms as you first were silent, then you started to cry, muffled by Itadori’s shirt.
Itadori could then feel that his shirt had been drenched by your pool of tears but he didn’t care. The most important person in their lives had just been killed. You, however, sang a song that felt apt for this moment. “ I stay up all night, tell myself I’m all right, baby you’re just harder to see than most…I put the record on, wait ‘til I hear our song, every night I’m dancing with your ghost, every night I’m dancing with your ghost… “ and with that, you start to close your eyes. You knew your life would now not be the same with him not being around. But, you were certain that he will still linger on, in your memories, in Itadori, and in your baby. And with that, you drift off to sleep, thinking about what would happen when you both meet again.
Tumblr media
A/N: I was beginning to write a compilation of oneshots for Nanami on Quotev and that's when this idea came to my head. The way I cried like a baby when I heard this song and thought of him. I love him so much. Thank you for reading btw. It means a lot. Hope you have a great weekend <3

A lot of people are theorizing that Gojo might die in the manga or lose his eyes, and honestly, I thought so as well!
However, Gege had made it very clear in the manga that without Gojo, the world wouldn't be able to keep up with the rising strength and number of cursed spirits. Currently, there's only 2 jujutsu schools in Japan and not even 30 students. There's only 4 special grade sorcerers, now 3 without Geto, Yuki has her own agenda, and without Gojo, that just leaves Yuta to take on special grade curses.
The students are strong themselves, but they weren't even able to defeat Jogo or the octopus guy, let alone Mahito (who has since evolved) and Hanami (Gege implied in an interview that he would reveal Hanami's domain expansion later, which made fans go "wait, he's not dead?" Although, Gege might have chosen to forget about it this, but we shall see). Gojo himself was nearly defeated by Toji in his teen years due to Toji's intellect. Therefore, the students are going to have an incredibly tough time defeating the "brain" that has the intellect of a being who has survived for hundreds of years (over 150 years at least, since that's when Kamo Noritoshi had helped create the Cursed Wombs).
Even if they do find a way to defeat it themselves, they'd need help (let's also remember Choso almost killed Yuji, and Naoya almost beat Choso. The struggle is very real, especially since cursed spirits aren't the only enemy but politics are working against them, as well). The Gojo clan itself is only a one man team of just Gojo, and in the Shibuya arc Gege cemented the fact pretty clearly that if anything ever happened to Gojo, the world would pretty much be lead into an apocalyptic state or become overrun with curses- and that's exactly what's happening within the manga now. Because of Gojo's birth, cursed spirits were forced to become stronger, and the new age of curses won't even be able to be classified as only "Special Grade." Even right now, without Gojo, the Jujutsu sorcerers are struggling to keep curses at bay even in one city, let alone the whole country.
Even without the world's current trip to destruction, there's the matter of Yaga's execution. Who else, other than Gojo, is going to be able to stop this? Gojo is the only one who was able to convince the higher ups to at least stall executions. His students are still just that- students. In order to stop the higher ups' corrupt politics, Gojo, with his knowledge of jujutsu society and his silver tongue, is the one who has to intervene. Although it's possible, I wouldn't think that the students themselves would end up replacing the higher ups- if strength was all that mattered, Gojo would have taken over Jujutsu Society a long time ago. However, politics are not that simple, and I doubt Utahime, Shoko, or anyone else associated with Gojo is going to replace them anytime soon- not with Yaga on the chopping block as a supposed "traitor" for his affiliation with Gojo.
If the story is going to end with reformation of Jujutsu Society, an adult will have to take over the higher ups' places (unfortunately, Nanami, the adult of adults, cannot do so). Therefore, Gojo will have to lead, just as he dreamt of, with his "army" of strong students, his followers. Jujutsu Society needs someone with the intellect and persuasiveness Gojo has in order for change to occur- Gojo was able to convince the higher ups for many things, after all. He has the charisma to lead future Jujutsu sorcerers and teach them well. This is the role he has worked for all these years, after all. It would only make sense for Gojo to take over. Having Gojo die and the students kill the higher ups would be counterintuitive- Gojo could've done that years ago.
Gege also said that the one to tell Megumi about Toji has to be Gojo in an interview, so Gojo is definitely getting out of the box eventually to have that talk with him. However, I don't think Gege is going to kill him off afterwards- just Gojo being sealed is already putting the world into danger. The world needs Gojo's ability in order to get rid of all the curses quickly. If Sukuna ends up killing Gojo for whatever reason, I don't think having a Yuji/Sukuna combination will help the world because there will definitely be a power struggle between them (even if Yuji can withstand 15 finger Sukuna, 20 finger Sukuna is a whole other level, that's the complete manifestation of the King of Curses from a thousand years ago in a 15 year old's body! Even if Yuji is a special grade cursed womb, power doesn't win battles. He'll need willpower, trust, and wit. He's only just decided to kill Mahito, he's got a lot more to learn. There's also the matter of the 1 minute pact between them and what Sukuna will do to Fushiguro). Without Gojo, Yuta might end up having to kill Yuji/Sukuna in order to stop Sukuna from killing people (Yuta's ability to copy techniques will likely help), but losing Gojo AND Yuji will be very harsh on the world's state, leaving only Yuta to defend it and whatever crippled version of Megumi will appear after Sukuna's done with him (and the story. Yuji's development will go to waste if he's just killed by Yuta and then we'll have to see how Yuta plans to continue Gojo's dream of changing Jujutsu Society. Will Yuta become a teacher to create strong sorcerers like Gojo did? Will the world even still exist by that time? Killing the King of Curses won't change the world like Gojo dreamt. In fact, the story might just repeat itself with Yuta becoming a teacher instead). Still, if anyone had to kill Yuji, it should be Gojo, but if Gojo is to be the one that ends up killing Yuji to kill Sukuna, no one else will be capable of killing Gojo. Therefore, Gojo likely won't die.
Either way, I feel like it would be strange to kill off both Yuji and Gojo.
Gege also said that the "brain" can't control Gojo either, because it would be impossible for the brain to kill him. If the brain wanted Gojo's body after Sukuna possibly killed Gojo, I doubt it would be able to control him anyways because Sukuna would have sliced him to pieces. Gege also said there wouldn't be any point in the brain controlling Gojo's body, so Gojo dying for the brain's purposes wouldn't happen, as Gege said himself.
Therefore, I just don't see any good outcome from Gojo's death besides angst or even character development? What other reason is there for Gojo to die? Yuji already lost Nanami and thought Nobara died, giving him the character development needed for him to choose to kill Mahito. The world will also probably crumble if Gojo doesn't appear out of the box soon. Just him being sealed was enough for the Hunger Games: Jujutsu Sorcerer Edition to come out, so Gojo permanently disappearing (i.e. dying) pretty much means the world's gonna end 🤷 After all, if the spirits were gonna start a revolution, they could've done it ages ago, but they didn't because of Gojo. Gojo's very presence, even as a child, is what kept them in line all these years. Just one look at his eyes, even though he was only a child, had that old woman and old man looking cursed spirits sweating. Once Gojo appears again, many spirits will go back into hiding, even if not all. Therefore, his very presence would be a great help in restoring order in the world again. That makes Gojo coming back more useful than his death.
As for losing his eyes, it's possible but again, other than angst I don't see a reason for it. Gege also said that having Gojo be the Strongest is to show how strong Yuji's going to be in the future, so handicapping Gojo would be counterproductive.
Therefore, I doubt Gojo's going to die or lose his eyes in the story. There's just no reason for it, unless Gege intends to keep the world in an apocalyptic state at the end, kill off everyone except maybe one person, and have a new cast of sorcerers appear. Otherwise, Gojo's the only one who can reverse the world back to its original state, or close to it, at least within a few days, weeks, or months rather than years with his ability to exorcise spirits on a grand scale. Gojo might end up losing a few screws in his head, but other than that, I'm sure he'll be (physically) fine. I would imagine that Gege would want to loop back to Gojo's dream of changing society. In that case, who other than Gojo could lead? His students are still children. They're not as versed in dealing with the higher ups as he is. If the moral of the story is that such a thing is impossible, what bigger angst is there than to have Gojo live on as the Strongest as everyone he loves dies?
Of course, there was this one interview where Gege said his plan for the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen was that (of the 1st years and Gojo) to keep everyone alive except one person, or everyone dies except one person. In the former, it would easily have to be Yuji who ends up dying while everyone else lives since he's the one who's supposed to be executed from the very beginning. In the latter, as I said, Gojo being the only one left alive while everyone dies could happen just to show the burden and loneliness that comes with being the Strongest- just to show the difference in universes him and the others are living in (however, I will say that this outcome would be unlikely because Gojo's world will only reset to the day Geto had betrayed him. He would start from scratch, raising a new group of students, and then the story would repeat itself in a training montage. In a writing perspective, this ending would only occur if the author forgoes everything just to make you cry, that's it. It would work, but it would ruin the complexities of the story to reset everything by killing everyone for a new set of characters. Reminds me of the Walking Dead by TellTale games. Too many deaths and too many new people with only one of the original cast left. Pretty bad writing, that was).
Either way, if Gege is being serious in what he said about the ending of JJK and having all die except one or vice versa, Gojo is likely to survive either outcome.
However, if it does happen that Gojo dies while his students live, there's the matter of keeping Sukuna at bay and previous reasons stated above.
The only way I could see Gojo dying is if Yuji ends up surpassing Gojo enough so that he's no longer needed to keep balance in the world. Or, as Gege had described in why he killed Nanami (his favorite character, might I add), if Gojo no longer has any use in the story. In that case, Gojo would die, or it'd be alright for him to die because Yuji would take his place. Still, it's doubtful Gojo would become a character that's no longer needed when the world is hardly able to function without him.
If we're talking about Gojo's usefulness in the story being what determines whether he lives or dies, I'd say even if Yuji surpasses Gojo, Gojo would still remain useful- in politics, at least. Let's remember that without Gojo, the beginning of change in Jujutsu Society would not have happened. Yuta would've been executed, as would Yuji, Megumi would be in the Zenin clan, Maki would've never been recommended for 1st grade without Gojo paying off Mei Mei, Nanami might've not come back (Nanami said he hates the way the higher ups do things, but he trusts and has faith in Gojo even if he doesn't respect him). There are so many things that Gojo has done throughout the story, and if Gojo hadn't done one thing- if he let Yuta die, for example, or kept Megumi in the Zenin clan, the story would've been drastically different.
In other words, even if Gojo's physical abilites are somehow gone, Gojo's mouth still has plenty of uses. If the guy can talk his way out of his students' execution, he can likely talk his way out of his own, or at least Yaga's. Gojo's got a lot more uses than just exorcising curses, after all. As long as Gojo has use in the story, I'd think it's safe to say he'll survive. Hell, Gege might even keep him around just to hate on him some more. Though, the reality is that Gojo basically wrote Jujutsu Kaisen with how his actions created the ripple effect into what we have now- another parallel between the author and Gojo, since it's been said that Gojo has a lot of similarities to Gege (Could Gojo be Gege's self insert? 😳 Even their names are similar!)
Also, Gojo had planned ahead enough for Yuta to become a double agent and trick the higher ups into thinking he'd killed Yuji. It's likely he has more up his sleeve than that and is sitting in the prison realm waiting for other traps he had set to go off.
Here's the Q&A translation where Gege said the brain can't kill Gojo:

- 🤔 (Sorry if this one seems a bit rushed or hard to read! I'd have to reread the Shibuya arc to explain more in depth but the pain is just 😭 I'm going off of my thoughts while I was reading this awhile ago cause I got told Gojo might die in that arc and I remember thinking all these things to myself to convince myself he won't die and wanted to share!)
