Bella herself had not one, but three autonomous pregnancies which resulted in an additional four children! Forcing her husband, polymath Mortimer Goth, to make extensive alterations to their historic home, Ophelia Vila.

Must be something in the water ... the Villa's plumbing is notoriously dodgy.

07/04/2024. Today is my 14th day in hospital and it doesn’t look as if I will be going home just yet! I could wrong of course 😉.

As I am unable to get out and about to photograph the flooding that has been happening here or to take advantage of yesterdays warm sunny day when the mercury hit 27c! I decided to use “throwback photos” from places I have visited. The first photo is of “Temple Saint-Étienne” in Mulhouse, a city I visited in March 2022.

So it was Easter Day last Sunday and to celebrate we were given some appalling food which I returned untouched. The highlight of the lunchtime “plat” was the birds nest cake with jelly beans, it was delicious. In the evening there was a pastry square with chicken and mushroom and as much as I wasn’t going to eat it, it was rather tasty. It certainly beat a lot of the food we get here!

On Monday,we had coffee in the afternoon 😳 with a little cake and a couple of mini Easter eggs. Anie messaged and visited me bringing another couple of Easter eggs.

Everyday it seems that something else is low, red cells, white cells, platelets, potassium or blood pressure! I must admit by Wednesday I felt quite low myself. Asking why my body wasn’t working as it should? It turns out this is quite “normal” for the type of chemo I am having now (wish they had told me earlier). Anyway, a good talking to and I settled myself down, my positivity returned and I was “up there” again.

I now have provisional dates for my stay in the hospital in Paris. However, I really need to go home for a couple of days to get my case packed ready to take.

I have run out of reading materiel so I need more books. I have had to resort to reading the blog from inception December 2016. After two full days I am only at Xmas 2019. It’s interesting to look back on though, I must admit.

This week I have chosen two songs by someone I think has been very underrated. The songs go back to 1967 and 1968 respectively. Apparently the songwriter, Cat Stevens, sold this first song to P.P. Arnold for £30 and it became a big hit for Arnold as well as for other artists including Rod Stewart and Sheryl Crow, the song is “The First Cut Is The Deepest”.

The second song, written in 1967 and recorded by P.P. Arnold in 1968 is “Angel Of The Morning”. I must say I have loved both of these songs since first hearing them in the 60’s and was only too happy to sing them at any opportunity. However, I must admit it was much the same for lots of songs from those decades.

Pauline messaged last weekend, from Barcelona, where she is currently working. At some point over the Easter weekend she had her phone snatched out of her hand and the thief made off on an electric scooter. I imagine that was quite a shock! She, fortunately, had an old phone with her and just needed to buy a sim.

I have been messaging lots of people, French friends, English friends and catching up on “Hatched, Matched and Dispatched, unfortunately it is mainly now the “dispatched” that are known to me.

“The Photographer” had his daughter for the day on Tuesday. He sent me a photo of them waiting for the stately home they were going to visit, to open. They had such fun until my granddaughter fell in mud, all over her new leggings! She was worried Mummy would be unhappy, so they took a photo to let Mummy know what had happened. This weekend he has both of his children, it was wonderful to get photos of their happy smiling faces and then of my grandson catching “forty winks”. It was ok as Grand-mere has slept rather a lot today. Hope I sleep tonight! Last Monday “The Photographer” made the trip to Kings Lynn to photograph the home side v Scarborough AFC. At half-time the score was 3-0 and he felt sure Scarborough were going to be beaten, However, they pulled off an amazing feat to win 3-4. No-one saw that coming at half-time, absolutely brilliant!

“The Reconnect Navigator” is thrilled this week as she has now been given her own cases. She worked overtime one evening and so on Friday she had a 3pm finish which was great! Makes the weekend longer.

“The Trainee Solicitor” is feeling better about his job now. A new “young man” has joined the company and is working full-time. He hasn’t worked before so comes with no preconceived ideas (which is good), he is keen to work (always a plus point) and I think given time will be an asset to the firm. “The Trainee Solicitor” has applied for his Uni course and is hoping to get that done during May, June and July. It’s all positive steps. One thing that he messaged to me, really resonated with me and I thought it was a beautiful thing to say, he messaged “It doesn’t matter how long the road is, as long as you are walking it”. I was quite moved.

“The Jetsetter” is recharging her batteries ready for the next adventure. Not only that but you do need to work to have money to enjoy these jaunts. On Easter Sunday, she spent a lovely day with “The Photographer” around York. They took a photo of the house I once lived in. A view that was a favourite of mine when walking around the city walls and some photos of the Minster and the Clock Tower at the old Terry’s Chocolate Factory.

Monique and Ludivine (her daughter) have been messaging me, plus Nadine sent a message and said she will come and say “hello” on Monday or Tuesday. I messaged the ladies at the knitting workshop, it was thin on the ground, two at first then the 92 year old lady came for the cake and a drink. I am missing all of this but the treatment has to take priority.

My best friend from senior school messaged me yesterday to say that her mum had had a stroke. She is in hospital and I hope that is the best place for her. My friend is an only child who lost her father about eight years ago. Her mum is coming up 93 and although you “expect” things to happen due to age etc., it is still a shocking time because that person is your Mum. Thinking of them both ♥️.

I will leave you with this photo of the Cathedrale Saint-Christophe de Belfort . Thé photo was taken in February last year and I likened it to the Treasury at Petra due to the red hue.

Gai’s Sinnoh Adventure Pt. 8

With Five badges and a whole lot of confidence, the three examine their options and decide to head straight for Canalave city where the next gym leader, Onoki, is.

To get to Canalave city they first had to travel back to Jubilife and then take a trip down route 218, where Rin met a gastradone and immediately added it to her team (she had thought about catching the pre-evolution before, but seeing it in its fully evolved glory she knows she needs it now)

Upon arrival in Canalave city the three ran into Obito, who promptly challenged Kakashi to a battle. Not one to let his rivalry with Kakashi be stolen, Gai insisted Obito had to beat him first if he wanted to face Kakashi.

Once again, Obito did not defeat him but he did give Gai a good battle and the battle even helped Gai figure out a new tactic he might decide to try out with his Pokemon for the next gym.

Before the next gym, though, the three heard about a place called Iron Island and decided to take a visit there. At worst they would get some extra training time, but at best they were certain they could find some interesting new Pokemon.

While there they ran into a man named ‘Mifune’ who was checking out a complaint about some Root operatives. Kakashi seemed to know the man, and although he was hesitant to allow the kids to follow him he ultimately conceded when Kakashi said something about his mother.

It was a quick little issue to deal with. The four simply had to locate some Root grunts that were agitating the Pokemon in the area and dispatch with them. An easy task for the four of them, with Gai and Kakashi creating a perfect team that Mifune even took the time to compliment.

Once they’d sent those Root operatives packing Mifune decided to thank the three with a Pokemon egg he had. He informed them that it was a Steel type Pokemon, but that it’s secondary typing was Fighting. Rin and Kakashi shared a rather knowing look and informed Gai that it should be his, since he was the fighting type trainer. He did try to argue a bit, not wanting to take a new Pokemon from his friends Espeshally with Rin’s new found love of steel types, but after a few minutes of back and forth he relented and accepted the egg.

Naturally, Gai was excited to see just what his egg would hatch into.

The three headed back to Canalave city with their sights now set on their sixth gym badge. Though Gai wasn’t quiet ready to head to the gym battle yet, too excited for his new Pokemon egg to really focus on battle. So instead of heading straight for the Gym the three decided to take some extra time to train and relax before continuing their gym challenge.

One of the first things the three decided to do was head back to Mt. Cornet to explore and see if there were any other Pokemon they wanted to catch. While there Gai’s Kirllia located a strange stone which caused it to start glowing as soon as it touched it.

When the light faded, Gai was greeted with a proud, brilliant new Pokemon standing in front of him.

Gallade.

It’s the fighting type Pokemon he has been looking for, and the other evolution to the Raltz line that matched with Rin’s new Gardevoir (which had only evolved shortly before they entered Mt. Cornet after she’d Beaton another trainer in a Pokemon battle).

Not too soon after getting a Gallade on his team Gai’s backpack began to glow, and when he opened it he found the Pokemon egg that Mifune had gifted him glowing in its incubator.

Not wanting to waste time, Gai took the egg out of the incubator and hugged it to his chest while speaking to it. The entire time Rin and Kakashi stood back watching him, and slowly the eggs shape began to shift.

After what felt like an eternity to Gai, but really was only a few short minutes, the glowing faded away and he was greeted with a new Pokemon.

A pokemon that Kakashi’s Pokedex introduced as ‘Riolu’, a pure fighting type.

Patience had paid off for Gai. Now he could fo us on getting his next gym badge and he had two brand new Pokemon to help him achieve that goal.

I think it's why, as an Aussie, I connect with Canadian comedy; when I was growing up I was exposed to a lot of American humour, and watched A LOT of British television. Canadians combine the best of both of those influences instinctively, and create something that's simultaneously familiar, but it's own brilliantly unique thing.

Hi I'm really confused. Professor Moriarty's first name is James, but your comic says his brother is Colonel James Moriarty. Does he have the same name as hus brother? Is this a mistake or is something else going on?

Okay I think it probably IS a mistake, but it's one that is over a hundred years old. Quote from THE FINAL PROBLEM:

"My hand has been forced, however, by the recent letters in which Colonel James Moriarty defends the memory of his brother, and I have no choice but to lay the facts before the public exactly as they occurred."

We only get the Professor's first name also being James later, both in chronology and publication order, in THE EMPTY HOUSE:

“Well, well, such is fame! But, then, if I remember aright, you had not heard the name of Professor James Moriarty, who had one of the great brains of the century. Just give me down my index of biographies from the shelf.”

Is Holmes making a mistake? Is Watson? Was Arthur Conan Doyle so fucking done with writing Holmes that he didn't proofread? Did the Moriarty parents just decide to give all their kids the same name? Currently accepting theories.

Bad End Game

With brief notes on movies.

Blazar: Under the name Morino, Emi is acting as secretary for Novaio CEO Sonezaki when the Kaiju Leviera appears, the man refuses to evacuate, as drones carrying the company product release antimicrobial FK1 which causes Leviera to melts into nothing. Teruaki briefs Gento and Anri on the multiple appearances of Leviera over the months, GGF using FK1 every time the regenerating Kaiju appears, but more has been used every time, suggesting Leviera is building a resistance, Yasunobu is working on a new weapon. At a clandestine meeting, Gento and Emi discuss the reason for the investigation, that Leviera resembles man-made Sea Angels created by a Novaio subsidiary, and Gento has discovered Sonezaki was with the GGF chemical department, quitting 18 years ago and erasing his career. Earth Garon is dispatched to deliver FK1 rounds next time Leviera appears, requiring multiple salvos before it is defeated. Emi is unable to get into the Novaio records she needs, as Sonezaki goes for one of his 30 minute meditation breaks. Yasunobu has found a partial DNA match, but Gento isn't prepared to go to the Chief of Staff yet. He tells Emi the operation is off, and she infuriated, instead breaks in at night, locating a hidden room, and finding both achievement scrapbooks and top secret files on a Kaiju with strong regeneration abilities that landed in 2001, is surprised by Sonezaki and his men, who takes her prisoner. However, the disagreement was for show, and Gento and Yasunobu are watching what happens, though rather than wait for Emi's signal, Gento enacts his own plan. Sonezaki brings Emi to the lab where Leviera returns to, and explains that once FK1 becomes ineffective, he's simply going to have another one act somewhere else, so he always has a market for FK1, caring not for the money, but for his ego. Gento interrupts, and the resultant struggle ends with the guards and Sonezaki beaten, but the containment device destroyed by stray shots from Sonezaki. The Blazar Brace already appeared, Gento sends Emi out with the culprits so he can change in hiding. Blazar struggles, and Emi hits on a plan, having Earth Garon use liquid nitrogen to supercool Leviera, enabling Blazar to shatter it. In the aftermath, Gento explains that when GGF went to digital records 20 years ago, a lot of hard copies were destroyed, Sonezaki must have saved a few and hatched his scheme.

Adventure Heaven: sounds kind of interesting. Ryneol trying to resurrect himself because he thinks only he can lead, making use of Ohger Caliber ZERO, Iroki wanting revenge on Kaguragi, Devonica as a connection to Gira's past.

4 Aces and the Black Fox: Honestly, aside from the fact Keilow and Lopo are returning for this, and Punk Jack is actually going to fight, there's not a lot interesting for this I feel. The symmetry of Cross Geats is neat, but Mela and Melo are just more future people playing games with the present.

Geats: Tsumuri awakens with Win, who tells her Ace and Keiwa vanished. Ace explains he reverted the world before he is captured by wires, the world aiming to make him the new God of Creation. Michinaga and Neon meet up. Jitto, Kekera and Beroba are now stuck, Jitto uses the tear he collected to create a new Tsumuri, who will become his Goddess of Destruction, and announces the Bad End Game to the world. Daichi finds the World Tree is back, but Beroba and Kekera come to steal it. Buffa and Na-Go save him, but the tree is taken. Daichi tells them he will help restore Sara if the tree is returned, as Beroba has Evil Tsumuri start using the world tree as fertiliser for one super Jamato. Michinaga goes out to deal with Beroba, as Ace tells Keiwa everyone is working to save Sara, but he fears Michinaga is prepared to throw his life away. Michinaga confronts Beroba, who uses her Rider form against him, she badly beats him, but he taps into his Jamashin powers to finish her off. Beroba's death means Evil Tsumuri cannot fulfill her wish. Kekera goes to finish Michinaga, but Keiwa arrives and interferes, rejecting Kekera, who angrily says he'll give him a bad end. Daichi gives over a serum, the use of which frees Sara from the tree. Ace sees another wish granted, but his hand begins to calcify.

Kingohger: With the Kingohgers holding back, Daigorg opts to grow big...by consuming the Shugod Souls of Kabutan, Sasorin, Batta and Taranchino. The king's can only form King-Ohger, and Gira is unable to act properly due to sensing the Shugods fear, allowing Daigorg to defeat them even as he grows bigger, Kamejin gloating the next strike will destroy Shugoddom. Gira feels unable to act, even with Jeramie's assurances that Gira is like Ryneol Hastie, a man chosen as king by the Shugods. Kaguragi takes everyone to the Caucasus Kabuto Castle, relating how he attempted to use the Ohger Lance to unlock its secret, a secret Kamejin must know, as Boshimar went there with the fake lance until Kaguragi spooked him. Deathnarok had no idea Kamejin was infiltrating the castle, and is angry with him for it. Suzume is found crying over Racles casket, and reveal Racles eventually told her the secret of the castle, but Gira is unable to activate it. The Shugod Hunter arrives, and disables the remaining Shugods, while the others go to fight, Gira rather than keep trying, rushes to Kuwagon, asking him to fight, and dismisses the Shugod mentioning it doesn't have a Shugod Soul, before stopping to actually think about that. Yanma, despite his usual insistence the Shugods are machines, tries talking to them, reminding them of how Gira stood by them, as Gira regains his resolve, the Shugods empower him to defeat the Shugod Hunter. Gira again tries to awaken the Castle, it still won't awaken, and it is their only hope against Daigorg.

Abaranger With Donbrothers: I expected this thing to come out about 6 months ago. Haruka returns to Café Donbura from a grocery run to find Saruhara being manhandled by Sanjo Yukito and his wife, Emiri, but is distracted from intervening by noticing Hakou Ryouga has been using the facilities to make Dino Curry. Introductions have just been made when Saruhara gets up restored from the Chiropractic treatment, it seems like Haruka could use some too. Yukito, knowing Saruhara is Super Sentai, guesses Haruka is too, and the three guests jntroduce themselves as the Abrangers. Saruhara and Haruka are shocked to see such a polite, cheerful red, who considers his teammates friends. Yukito promises his services see free to them as Sentai. Saruhara now realises the source of his ills is Momoi Tarou himself, and feels he can inly find relief by surpassing him, Haruka agrees, and when a battle is revealed, prepare to do just that, Haruka needs treatment though, and is left in Emiri's care. SaruBrother interferes in Don Momotaro fighting the Hitotsuki and they get distracted messing with eachother, and so AbaRed and AbareBlue have to involve themselves, comparing this poor synergy to Nakadai. Their rampage overwhelms, but Taro has to stop them so he can defeat it without killing the host. Ryouga's solution is to throw Taro at it, and amused, they team up, then Yukito gives the push Saruhara needs to land the finisher. Saruhara believes his ills are dealt with by winning the battle, but Yukito actually delivered a surgery mid battle. Saruhara and Haruka both freak out in hearing how much the treatment would have cost them, and Ryouga gets a call from his daughter Mai, saying she can't make their meeting. Unknown to everyone, the battle opened a small crack, allowing a certain figure to break into Another Earth from Dino Earth.
