We can bargain, Netflix.
If you let Jaskier and Geralt f*ck and make it cannon, I’ll watch season 4. It’s that simple.

yes, henry cavill leaving is sad BUT if it has to happen I want the show to lean into the ridiculousness of the main character changing faces mid story.
like, I want jaskier to see liam!geralt for the first time, do a double take and then spend an entire episode being like "you look different. did you do something to your hair? are you wearing contacts? is that a new jerkin? oh I know, you lost some weight, didn't you!" while geralt keeps insisting nothing changed

S4 but the plot is that Jaskier gets drunk, fucks about with something magical, and wakes up in a different universe where everything is exactly the same except Geralt is a Hemsworth.

For everyone who’s mad about David Corenswet playing Superman instead of Henry Cavill, here’s some stats…
George Reeves played Superman from 1951-1958.
Christopher Reeve played Superman from 1978-1987.
John Newton played Superman from 1988-1989.
Gerard Christopher played Superman from 1989-1992.
Dean Cain played Superman from 1993-1997.
Tom Welling played Superman from 2001-2011.
Brandon Routh played Superman in 2006 and then again in 2019.
Henry Cavill played Superman from 2013-2023.
Tyler Hoechlin played Superman from 2016-present.
Now it’s David Corenswet’s turn.
Pretty regularly since the 1970s, someone new has been playing Superman roughly every few years.
I understand that Henry Cavill was mislead and treated poorly by the studio (which sucks). But stop acting like Superman being recast after a decade is an unheard-of, shocking crime against you. It’s been the norm for fifty years.

The fact Joey’s just confirmed that he texts Henry all the time and they’re really close friends makes me really happy for some reason

But actually the reason I’m so upset is not the casting change itself, but because I feel like if witcher fan Henry Cavill decides to leave the role... it’s probably because the writing has gone down even more and he didn’t want to be part of it anymore.
Like... s2 was already a downgrade from s1, and I was hoping it would pick back up in the third season, but if it is bad enough to drive the lead actor away... yikes.

I'm probably less mad at recasting Geralt than most of the fans. I didn't really care for him in the later books, he was always grumpy, standoffish and the least interesting member of his company. If they manage to do justice to the rest of the party, especially Regis, then he can be played by a chair with two sword sticking out of it for all I care
I don't care that they are recasting, I just don't like how they treated Henry Cavill

Here are my thoughts on yesterday’s news…
Now I’ve had time to process it, I am in no way angry at Henry. I care deeply for his physical and mental wellbeing. I know the filming of The Witcher took it’s toll on him physically, with the dehydration, the injuries, the long days full of stunts, and if that became too much for him then who am I to want him to continue, of course his health comes first. Also, I know it could also be creative differences that made him want to leave; that man has been described as a “Witcher bible”, he literally begged for the job, he played the games beforehand, read the books, he is Geralt of Rivia! But what has probably happened is the writers have taken the storyline too far away from the source material and if Henry wasn’t happy with that then of course he should walk. Or it could be because he’s going back to being Superman… but whatever, I’m just speculating. The man can do whatever he wants, it’s his life.
Saying that though, for myself personally, I am sad and disappointed and that’s because it was Henry who made me a huge fan of The Witcher. After I saw the show for the first time I played The Witcher 3 on PS4 and have played it five times since, I even got an Xbox 360 just to play The Witcher 2. I’ve read the books and am currently rereading them. I’ve bought merch and have a whole shelf in my bedroom dedicated to The Witcher. Hell, I set up this blog and @yen-geralt-jaskier purely because watching Henry in that show awoke something in me that had been missing for a long time, it made me passionate about something again, it made me get back into writing, I made gifs, I well and truly fell in love with the whole Witcher universe and Henry himself. I’m worried now I’ll lose the way I feel about it when it’s not Henry playing The Witcher himself, because even though I was unhappy with how the storyline deviated from the books (Yennefer’s storyline especially) I still enjoyed season two as an addition to The Witcher universe because of Henry himself and how he plays Geralt, and his chemistry with the other characters, especially Ciri. This news hasn’t given me much confidence that season three will be true to the books at all but I will watch it and love it because of Henry. I will still watch season four because of Joey and Anya and Freya, and I will give Liam a chance, but I’m not holding out a lot of hope because how could it possibly still be the same to me the way it is now?
So yeah, I’m sad. I feel like my comfort blanket has been ripped away from me and I’m scared, and I know that’s daft, but that’s how much this stupid show means to me and yesterday’s news did in fact break my heart a little a lot.
