So. Euh. I read the Dynamite Ducktales comic. The first one. It was interesting to say the least.

First off, it’s really not a story. This shouldn’t be allowed to be sold and marketed like a complete product. It’s complete nonsense. But for the rest…

It’s weird man. It doesn’t feel like the writer and the artists are in sync with each other? Or the writer with himself. Or the artist with himself. There are panels with just no dialogue where a character awkwardly stands just because and it’s really really strange. I’d really like to know how that was scripted. Did they just write: “and now the character stands around and nothing happens”?

There are scenes which don’t look like they are supposed to follow up on each other. Sometimes a thing happens, and then next panel another thing happens. And there is no flow between the two things. They just happen for seemingly no reason. Let me look at the issue again to find an example.

I think this page illustrates both my points well. It’s just so strange. The composition and dialogue just make zero sense. Like why is he just standing there? And why is 70% of the panel not even about him? How why it. It’s just so weird man. This ain’t even Infinity Dime moment where it’s bad. It’s just strange. It’s beyond me. I have no clue what this is. Why are the nephews so scared looking? Is it because Scrooge is making fun of their speech(bubble)patterns or whatever the heck he’s doing? That last panel is funny though. And the first panel is well drawn i like it.

Another thing. I like the weird little thingy it tries to do. You’ll get what I mean when reading it. Don’t want to spoil it because it’s definitely the most exciting thing. It’s an interesting story telling thing. I like the second one and how it parodies Rosa. The first one isn’t funny at all and honestly a really stupid misunderstanding of Duck comics. Like you can’t present that parody as a full thing. It would be barely functional as part of a bigger story. The third one is cute.

I like the artist overall, but sometimes there’s also stuff which looks really unprofessional.

And i think this is mainly the writer, but the comic feels really disconnected with itself. I can see fun ideas and a possible future, but it’s difficult to say, because, y’know.

I do think it can prosper by how much it’s willing to experiment. So looking forward to that. MAGICA NEXT ISSUE!!!!!!!!

In the x reader fandom space something irks me so so bad about seeing a creator who very clearly uses ai getting called "THE [character] writer"

like no..... NO........ the only reason they can produce MULTIPLE fanfics in a day (all grammarly correct without any spelling errors mind you) is because THEY DO NOT WRITE THEIR OWN FICS !!! A BOT WRITES THEM FOR THEM !!!!!!!!!! I feel like I'm going insane the amount of people who do not notice when someone uses AI ??? Holy shit dude

And even if it wasn't just for the sheer quantity, the WAY things are written are such a red flag too ??? Like. Big words that usually belong in an essay, frivolous ways of building what should be a short and to the point sentence, perfect grammar despite its overly complicated structure + no spelling errors ever, avoiding direct dialogue and when it does show up it's ooc. Fics that never go beyond a certain word limit (cause ChatGPT has a word limit), and when they do go beyond a word limit, it's because it's multiple characters. Then in these hcs, they're broken up into overly detailed sections that no real human would probably think to section them up in.

Some things could be ascribed to writing style or the author's personal preference for writing (esp the avoiding dialogue part), but all mixed together PLUS the frequency of the fics...... man I genuinely don't know how people don't put together the pieces ??

i bought into the :/ vibes of captive prince as well because for a long time i didn't care to look beyond what everyone else was saying about it and frankly i wasn't interested in reading the books but when i see readers saying we shouldn't read captive prince because it glorifies slavery and non-con while the same readers praise colleen hoover and fourth wing and the after series and every shitty dark romance mafia book... i am not saying captive prince is the greatest book series ever and i definitely was uncomfortable with parts of it (because i am definitely not as intellectual as others who read and analysed it) but there's so much worse books out there that get praised A Lot (and especially on booktok) and yeah idk where i am going with this sorry atsjdkf

SAY THAT!!!! like listen i get it, if you're into dark problematic shit kudos, because i looooove me some fucked up books but if you are pointing fingers while ALSO reading a different brand of problematic shit....maybe you're the problem! i feel like people who read books like captive prince or aftg are usually the first ones to analyze how fucked up they are, to think critically and engage with the darker parts of those series whereas a lot of colleen hoover stans on booktok just gloss over the abuse and toxicity because it's all about romance? (or supposedly about romance) like sure captive prince is a love story in the end, and aftg is kind of about a love story in its own way, but i think both of those stories are first and foremost about overcoming abuse and healing from trauma and learning how to trust other people in the wake of all that. the romance is just a wonderful addition to some complex series that allow you the space to exist in the gray areas of human nature.
