Beefleaf mermaid au painting + the concept doodles that got me here

My idea for the au was something like "Shi Qingxuan is chronically ill, so their brother hunted down mermaids to use their scales to make a medicine. The medicine worked, but then Shi Qingxuan found one of the surviving mermaids in the aquarium in their basement." No idea if I'll end up doing anything more with that idea though

Initially built to explore emotion regulation but was repurposed into a fighter robot a few years after the project was abandoned 👎 She likes to play and draw

#Designing a robot is my equivalent to getting birthday sung at in a restaurant. 😭😭 I know none of this is functional #I noticed violent robots are often shown as less advanced/sentient than the more intelligent and sensitive “human” like robot #implying their destructive behavior is due to a fundamental lack of sensitivity or a conscience- purposely out of a pre-set nature.#I thought itd be interesting reversed where the terror and weight of such an environment is only unique to Uefi who attacks out of fear #Vs Nina who learns best via combat is fundamentally unable to empathize but they want to understand Uefi's behavior from her point of view #Essentially fear vs curiosity. #some of these are alot older than others. for example i made pekomon in middleschool. meanwhile i made kweemon and the unamed stress ball #like 2 years ago.#my art #artists on tumblr #digimon #aloemon and tikemon are my digimon partners but the others (apart from stress ball) just hang out.#i have alot of notes and ideas for a series around my digimon sona...#I also like the idea of putting me/my sona into the story of a soul journey.#they were sucked into the digiworld alone in a time of non termoil and now they have to survive and make friends along the way!#has all of the charm of the original digimon anime where its all alice in wonderland/ random stuff from our world out of context in the #digital world. and the only real conflict is man vs environment. they dont start with their digital partners and actsholly meet pekomon #first. pekomon just sort of follows dare around and shows up randomly. theres plenty of time for digital dare to travel with the bois so i #didnt want them to be handed to them right off the bat. humans have been to the digital world before and some of the digimon digital dare #mets remeber seeing humans.#story of learning that growing up dosent necessarily have to involve growing up. you can keep injoying the things you injoy as an adult tha #you did as a kid. its also mainly about found family and recovering from the shity times that came before.#in the end digital dare whoudlent want to leave the digital world but need to anyways... in the end credits it whould show digital dare #getting a messege on their computer from their digimon friends.#its implyed they get to keep in touch even when they are oh so far apart.#99% of digital dare's messeges to pekomon are just them sending pekomon cool pictures that they took.

All these jobs want someone who works well in a fast-paced environment and I’m like uniquely bad at doing anything under time pressure my brain freezes up and I try to keep telling myself to go faster but it just makes me panic and lose track of what I’m doing and I can’t physically get myself to move any faster it just doesn’t work and the more stressed I get the more dumb mistakes I make which just makes everything worse because then I have to stop and fix/deal with the consequences of the mistake and how embarrassed and guilty I feel and then I have to compensate for my tendency to mess up by being extra slow and meticulous but then I’m not working fast enough like no matter how hard I try I just suck at it

Between COVID, US politics, and Gaza, I've sure lost a lot of friends, acquaintances, and family members in such a short amount of time.

#seems every time the new big thing happens I end up losing a few more people in my life #I found out today that someone I (previously) respected fully supports wiping out Palestinians #I remember as a kid being told that when you grow up you learn to accept other people for their differences and like... yeah. sure.#everybody has an opinion and all but there's a big difference between 'I like pineapple on my pizza' vs 'I support ethnic cleansing'#and the thing is as someone who works and has BEEN working public-facing jobs for almost a decade now #I have SEEN a very visible shift in the way the general public behaves #people ARE getting more aggressive. people ARE losing their humanity.#people are stressed and burnt out in a system and environment that is increasingly becoming unlivable #and we've had a lot of political upheaval not just within our own country but across the world #we're constantly hearing about and seeing graphic depictions of horrific cruelty and mass murder on the news #everyone I know is going through the same problems I am #and most of them have also had to cut ties with friends/family/colleagues and so on due to radicalization #I don't expect everyone I know to have the same opinions and worldviews that I do but I DO expect at least a basic level of human decency

#sage speaks #basically i remember someone saying in a lore video i think that #whomever inhabited the new world in fl (i think it was confirmed to be the ancients but im not sure)#basically they were just humans #i think that's obvious since theres straight up english dialogue in ghat game #and that opens such a can because 1 adeleine 2 theres so many human-like characters in kirby and it makes me think that maybe they're the #descendants of the ancients #like the mage sisters look so almost human you cannot tell me that they didn't descend from humans #the same goes for ripple queen and most fairies and such they r basically humans #taranza and sectonia r kinda human esc but i think thats more of a we dont want to put actual spiders in a game #but then again the reason could be that due to their environment they evolved in different ways #especially since popstar is a pretty magically charged planet #the other chart is more of a magic vs weapons chart #just to visualise who uses characters' use of weapons vs their use if magic #like taranza uses basically only magic #while bandee seems to only use spears even if he has some pocket dimension where he brings three spears out of nowhere/j #but then characters like dedede seem to use only weapons but he does seem to be able to use basic elemental magic #etc etc.#i might do it tomorrow

guys help i made an au on tuesday and i’ve written over 4k in terms of character info/lore + actual story. i haven’t plotted out the whole thing yet but i have enough info for a first chapter and then some so when (if) i finish it i will post it with the disclaimer that it might not get written for a while </3 but i do think you all might like it

#its a scifi sorta-apoc thing where society has been in a slow decline for the last 40 or so years #environment stuff is also out of wack #so governments and shit have sorta stopped being fully functional (imagine that!)#i have yet to come up with a concrete reason why but #the remaining powerful entities in the world have tried to make humans that can survive in this harsher world by giving them superpowers #basically.#so now we have these government-funded programs that are for the most part abducting people off the street to give them powers #lots of people dont survive because the process is really taxing #and those who do are kinda fucked up because of it #THATS THE SETTING and the story is church/alpha & co are one (a group?) of those people who have survived the process #and he has been kept in a facility his entire life #he gets broken out of the facility (run by freelancer/the director. wonderful) but they want him back because Powers #and also 30 years of tests and information would be going down the drain if they lost him #this is probably the clunkiest way i could have explained this but w/e #red vs blue #rvb #rvb au #i dont even know what to call it yet but the people with powers are called abnormal so maybe #rvb abnormal au #writing #my shit

Still feel it's somewhat impressive to climb a wall, though. Yeah, we're a kind of ape, but we lost our ability to grab branches with our feet years ago. Our feet are flatter than other apes' because we evolved to walk solely on our legs long ago. When a human can climb things with no problems, despite that relative inferiority, that's still pretty damn impressive.

#note my use of the word 'relative'#fish are 'relatively' superior to humans in that they are better swimmers and breathe underwater #they beat us in those regards #we beat them in ability to climb trees walk on land breathe air make tools...#we aren't lesser than the fish and the fish aren't lesser than us #but we are both 'superior' in *different* aspects #similar case with humans vs other primates #charged descriptors but i'm using them in an 'x is better suited to x environment' way #not an 'x is superior to all other life and must dominate the world' supremacist-ass bullshit way

i'm having Many Thoughts this rewatch about the... words. narrative devices and framing and tone of sdmi, and how they bring out a lot of food for thought re: aspects of media analysis which are easy to lose track of in media that takes itself more or less seriously than sdmi does.

unfortunately my brain is kind of soup lately, and when i try to put this bit into words it becomes Massive Overwhelming Infodump before it's halfway to my stylus. i have few brain cells available at the moment and it burns through them fast. 😔 ah well, hopefully i'll get around to making an actual coherent post about it sooner or later

#whosebaby talks #SDMItag #something about abstraction vs literalism; shorthand you're supposed to fill in the gaps for vs Things You are Meant to Take at Face Value #and about what's meant to be a Thing specific to a particular character/place/social environment/dynamic/etc #compared to a show's stylistic weirdness filter you're having to compensate for to tell if this character is an Abstraction #in the same way squiggles on a book to indicate writing are an abstraction of actual writing; or if they Are Actually Like That #vs when they *aren't* meant to embody that any more than the other people present; but *the other people present are also Like That*#compared to baseline for that world; because there's a specific reason in-universe that people like them end up concentrated here #vs a world where the baseline *is* for everything to be Like That; not as an abstraction or weirdness filter #but because the squiggly lines on the book are just Actually Squiggly Lines in-universe #often intended for comedy but not always! or entirely!#and sdmi's tone--comedic and otherwise--means it bounces around a lot of these in some really interesting ways #which is uh further complicated by the fact that despite how much of the comedy is obviously meant to lampshade how fucked up their world i #a fuckton of it is just straightforwardly horribly misogynistic and racist and abuse apologist and what have you #and not only makes light of this stuff in some really fucking awful ways under the guise of always-sunny-style ~tee hee lampshading~#but pulls some real toothpaste-and-orange-juice shit when it combines that with the more serious/earnest elements #and then you add in things like examining the generally exaggeratedly corrupt justice system #partly for laughs/drama and partly because a realistic judiciary process wouldn't work with the format tone and narrative they're working i #it's a fairytale; monarchies don't choose a ruler by sending out three princes to find a magical chalice in the forest or whatever #.....but also there are some reeeaaal interesting; uncomfortable things to examine here when comparing the corrupt *human* justice system #to the corrupt one the horrifically oppressed talking animals in this universe are subjected to #especially when it's often not even clear *which animals are supposed to be sapient*#and some shit you cannot 'it's a fairytale' your way out of; like racism and ableism and misogyny and queerphobia and abuse #say what you want about whether it *should* be there; but if it is; it is #and if nothing else it is sure fucking worth discussing if a piece of media tries to claim a textual depiction of SA for example #is a squiggly line abstraction for consensual romance #anyway there's a lot to unpack here squirtle it's fascinating and i have Opinions about it

but sometimes i do think, humanity is a pest, an horrible infection. that needs to be culled off like roaches and rats, i really do not know, but I feel bad for living and want to survive, bc ik just bc i am human, i am inheritanly evil.

but at the same time i get really really sad at the thought of humanity inevitably going extinct... like, "nooo! I want us to carry on, please we can be good!! We are making up for fucking up the planet"

i don't know how i am feeling rn, i believe it's a love/hate relationship, like ive seen so many movies and stories where the message is "humans bad" idk what is happening man...

Artificial Intelligence (An alarming situation).

I remember when I was a kid, I used to see so many birds, sparrows to be more specific, hearing their chirping sounds every morning, it always made me happy. I used to witness their complete ecosystem around trees, gardens etc.

Similarly, I used to do almost all of my work independently without using some tech gadgets and any Expert System having AI based algorithm. We in our young age did not have VR gear boxes, Smartphones, Smartwatches but pure joy and healthy life.

It seems like everything has changed in a glance. Now I see gadgets everywhere, now we don`t have to move physically to perform any task, now we, barely move our finger to do our tasks. Is it a blessing or a curse?

As we are living in AI era, we "maybe unknowingly" are completely dependent upon technology. As for now, we are living besides Robots and Expert Systems, these technology have more reliability over our decisions. Initially AI was developed to assist human but this pleasant dream soon to be turned into a nightmare.

HOW? How AI is defeating us rather than helping us out.

UNEMPLOYMENT:

Technically, the idea of AI was to create jobs for people, to assist us for carrying out complex tasks. AI is all about the automation this means millions of people are going to lose their jobs who are responsible for several administrative work.

One example is; A robot has started to perform surgery on a patient to diagnose and cure some disease, creating troubles for doctors and paramedics. The implementation of AI in medical field is in experimental phase and soon it can replace most of the doctors and surgeons especially in developed world, leading to doctors towards unemployment.

Similarly, Robots based upon AI models are being used experimentally in construction and infrastructure field creating and developing homes and buildings using their complex algorithms of modeling. It can also lead to architectures and home designers to be idle.

2. HEALTH ISSUES:

Though AI was developed to help us in living a healthier and depression-free lives but ended up having several health issues and lazy lives. Today, everything is just a one click or tap away from us. We barely move and thanks to the latest technology. Health-related issues arises when our dependency leads us to laziness and slowly depression which gradually will turn into heart diseases and being obese.

3. THREAT TO ENVIRONMENT:

Relying completely on AI, it can be a serious threat to our environment and that means we all are connected with the natural ecosystem and the excessive usage of technology requires heavy installation resources (e.g. Cell Phone towers are in the larger number than before to provide its subscribers fast internet and 5G).

4. THREAT TO ANIMALS AND BIRDS:

Animals and birds are the necessary part of our lives. They helps us in an indirect manner to balance the natural ecosystem but the unlimited experiments and uses of AI is leading towards the destruction and even extinction of several species. Several types of animals and birds are near to the mass extinction.

Further, there could be other threats in several aspects due to the excessive usage and experiments to implement AI among us.

Consider, if those AI-based robots due to some malfunctions in their complex infrastructures and algorithms tries to kill you rather than saving you, how`d you react?

CONCLUSIVELY:

Opposing the excessive and limitless implementation of AI around us doesn`t means that I am against the new improvised tech. Only we must have a watch over its interference in those decisions of ours which should be completely ours only.

Even though, I myself is a great fan of Artificial Intelligence and have done some practical (An educational project during COVID19) work using AI.

All I want to say is that AI has truly helped us a lot in a lot of ways but it should have some constraints and regulations to work alongside us so that we can move along till the end of the line.
