His name is Father Nicolas Leone, and he came to me in an actual dream that i had after a vtm larp.

During the larp, our prince recited the prayer to St. Michael the archangel and it was such a rad moment that i guess it followed me into my dreams lol. the prayer goes shockingly hard, and i included part of it in the description of the piece I did.

In the dream tho there was a blonde priest in red robes facing off against my lob corp oc Griffin (weird but he also has biblical references so i cant blame my brain for the connection) and during it they were both reciting the prayer of st michael as they moved in to fight. I just kind knew the priest was a vampire?? And when i woke up i was like I GOTTA MAKE HIM and my wonderful friends were like lets rp out his embrace and i was!!!! So delighted!!

So, his story thus far is that he’s a young and very aspirational priest who was given his first orders to revitalize the church in an unnamed city. The previous priest was Not a good person and so the whole thing was seen as needing a facelift after that guy went to prison.

Leone is a little bit of a stick in the mud and very dedicated to the church, perhaps a little too wanting of a grander position but very protective of his flock and over all a good man. To the point where he was actually being scoped out as a possible SI witch hunter. This boy has a level of true faith!! The church orders were sort of a test to see if he could manage his position before they introduced something to awaken him.

Then a couple of Sabbat vamps showed up and it all went down hill. They start remodeling the church to suit their own needs (plans to kill as many of the Camarilla court in the area as possible by using the church) and they start manipulating Leone and forcing him to break vows. It gets to the point where he cant tell what’s reality and whats a dream because of how they’ve twisted and hurt him.

His imbuing was a painful and extended trauma that broke his mind and severely tested his faith. And when he came out of it, he came out as two separate identities and two different hunters. Nicolas the Wayward and Father Leone the Martyr.

His story will end in tragedy, as many stories in the world of darkness do, with his church and his sense of self destroyed. The drawing is a representation of the manipulation and trauma he’s suffering. He’s looking up to heaven for help but in that moment, he recognizes that there is nothing there for him.

also im sorry i am constantly rotating duke of york in my head. i have so many thoughts about this badass yet pathetic wet cat of a woman. yes she eats siren hearts for breakfast yes she doesn't know what an email is. vampire voice my love how do you turn on the dishwasher. thinks an appropriate birthday gift is one or more of the following: classic lit, a weapon, the head(s) of your enemies. puts on a facade of a villainous vampire so people don't compare her to her sister (which on turn has so many Effects on their relationship. imagine having all your skills revolve around the sun and being part of an empire that the sun never sets on and your sister is formed and she's a vampire. she's doomed to be hurt by you and you cannot stop that. you can never be close to her because each ray you reach out burns her skin and you are hurt from seeing her recoil.) has silly little rivalries with wales over whose car goes faster and who looks better in this outfit. can't eat what her youngest sister is famed for. she has so much gnc swag while also being a femme fatale and also being a sad wet cat. she is so good with a sword and literature analysis and yet is so bad with actually fitting in and so she goes the complete opposite direction and decides to larp her vtm oc 24/7. also she Gets Bitchez but cannot keep them bc what the fuck is talking about your feelings. someone get the rn a seminar and multiple full time therapists on it.

i kind of want to make a malkavian character that is also visibly fucked up physically . they jeff the killered themself or something. it should also be a larp character so i can do the silly little liquid latex+toilet paper+fake blood+thread/staples thingy to put on my face. but for that i would need to find more vtm larps.

The third cover in my little series of vtm larp comic covers! I really love the colouring on this one, I had a great time with the big window and neon lights. This was the toreador ball, so I just HAD to do some bisexual lighting for the most bisexual clan.

Not only is chapter 28 done and ready for posting, but I've also finished 29 earlier today as well! It still needs some proofreading, but I can happily move onto 30 tomorrow after I recover from staying up past 23:00 to watch fireworks and hang out with friends.

I'll make sure to deliver even more vampsbians, but I'm also going to keep focusing on keeping my body in shape (I do sit a lot...) and I've also decided I want to read around 12 books (one per month), so we'll see how that goes.

I'm very happy with the fact that I kept updating IWIDCY throughout 2023 with the level of commitment I wasn't sure I had in me. I'm happy with all the comments I got to read, and to see that people still kudos and bookmark the story that's so far away from what I feel is popular among readers these days. Iriam and Laura keep being a source of endless inspiration for me, and I'm enjoying every bit of that feeling. Despite life's curveballs, I fulfilled some of my long time dreams and wishes (and somehow never forgot to write along the way, wild imo!). I played a lot of VtM tabletop games, attended a VtM LARP (sort of helped organize it too), and I even started running a chronicle on my own (1st edition Chicago bby!). I met some cool new people, made some awesome new friends. A good year, all in all, I'd say.

So, yeah, I hope everyone gets to do and try what they love in the upcoming year. Hope it's filled with awesome places, foods, and people! 🥳🥳

If you're stuck for ideas when creating an OC, what do you do to inspire yourself? (if you never have this problem, then what would you advise to someone that did!)

I am not sure my answer to this one is going to be particularly helpful. I haven't actually had trouble making OCs for FFXIV. In fact, I have the opposite problem. I come up with ideas for characters and then have to convince myself not to make them because I do not, in fact, need any more alts as I barely have time to play the ones that I currently have.

I have, however, struggled to come up with concepts for other games in the past.

XIV is actually the first and only MMO I have RP'd in. Prior to joining this community my main sources of RP were table top RPGs and VtM LARP. And in both situations I had moments where I struggled to come up with a new character when the last one had come to a close. Not always, but when I did I would look for a theme I wanted to explore. It didn't need to be something deep. Maybe it was a certain style of fashion I wanted to experiment with or a certain weapon I wanted the character to have. Things would come pretty easily after that decision. I'd do research, make Pinterest boards, makes Spotify playlists, and just see where that first little hook took me. It worked out in my favor more than once. So, it might be worth a try.

I live in a hell of my own creation

and I need to scream into the endless void of the internet about this so strap in or strap on because I'm going to ramble about vampires now.

For about two years I have been part of a Vampire The Masquerade larp chronicle where I play Evelyn D'Argent, the domain's Harpy who is so horny that she needs an above-board content warning and all-around ventrue menace. I absolutely adore her and that is the problem. For reasons I'm not getting into the chronicle is kind of imploding, which means that despite the fact that I'm not really ready to lose her it's unlikely that I'll get to play Evelyn for much longer. This is not the main problem. I've had games die prematurely before (rip Karouh), I've got attached to characters who were only ever going to be in oneshots, and I've had long-form collaborative settings kind of fizzle out (rip RO). The problem is that I hit perfectly on what I would want in a vampire character and I don't think I can ever make another VtM character I will like as much.

This isn't an exaggeration, to be very clear. I have played other characters in sessions and regardless of how similar they are to Evelyn I have always reliably found myself thinking for the whole of the session "ugh I wish I was playing Evelyn rn". So now I'm in the situation where literally anyone else I could play I will just want to play Evelyn. "But I could just port Evelyn over-" no I can't. Not only will it be with the same group of people so they will know and I will have to deal with the comparisons the whole time, and not only does everything I would join have the rule of not just porting over other characters anyway, but I would know and I would not want that.

So I am back to my original problem. How in the flying fuck do I make a character who hits all the notes I want without it Just Being Evelyn Again. The answer is that I don't fucking know I fully do not have an answer I'm smacking my head against a wall this is the worst how have I done this to myself. It doesn't help that Ventrue is my favourite clan to play because I love being a scheming bastard. It's a core part of the VtM experience for me. The closest thing to an answer I can think of is to make a character who encompasses just enough of Evelyn's deal that I can get enough of that that I want, and make up for the rest of it in Another Character Elsewhere.

Evelyn is a character very uniquely put together for use in a larp context, because - well honestly because of her whole vibe, but the specific example is that she's a performer, and in a larp session I can (and have on several occasions) fully get up on a stage and sing. Also she bears a physical resemblance to me with the long hair and the Tall and the tiddies, which means dressing as her is easy and fun (cleavage). This whole thing presents another unique problem because so much of the vibe and what I like about her is physically portraying how she is and acts and doing her voice and the more of this I write out the more I realise maybe I just can't do a fucking play by post and I've fucked myself even worse than I thought.

Aside from all that, Evelyn is at her core terrifyingly smart when it comes to scheming and manipulation because the political intrigue is my favourite bit of vtm, so in order to play any character in VtM ever they need to be at least as good as Evelyn in that aspect of things and probably in a very similar way because Oh Hoh Presence and because if I try and do it in a different way it'll just Be Less Fun. That'll be the main angle I'll need to be able to play if I can't have the performing stuff (I have a Bard cooking in my brain anyway so maybe I can get the performing there, who fucking knows).

And then a friend of mine says hey do you want to come and be my second Childe in this play by post that has a waiting list that's probably months long and I end up actually having ideas that work I'm going to fuckign cry.

I have no idea if I'm going to like this character that I want to be very clear has been cooking for exactly one hour, nor do I know if I'm ever going to get to play her, but I know deep in my fucking core that she can't just Be Evelyn Again, and I worry deeply that that's going to make me like her less. Essentially:

So now here I am with a character concept I might never get to play who I am very worried is just going to be a worse version of a character I'm not ready to let go of, while also dealing with the knowledge that I'm going to have to lose Evelyn eventually anyway and it's just a whole clusterfuck that I Have Not Resolved nor do I have any idea how to. Do I abandon the niche I've carved out for myself entirely in the knowledge that I could never do it as well again, or do I make someone who only reaches some of the old heights while using other characters to make up the gaps in what I get to play? Am I just fucked either way?

I don't know how to close this out.
