What did/do you like about Pharah?

Uh, gameplay-wise, I really love characters in shooters who rely on three-dimensional movement techs. Chaining together hover and jump to stay in the air for as long as possible and keep momentum is so satisfying, and picking enemies off from the sky made me feel like a bird of prey. I was a good Pharah main.

Story-wise, there unfortunately isn't much to canonically go off because Pharah is so underutilized and neglected. Her personality's pretty boilerplate "heroic hero" (she's literally inspired by Captain America).

But it's the crumbs/bits and pieces that I really latched onto. Pharah's a confirmed lesbian; her short story with Baptiste implies she harbors a crush on Mercy (fucking thank you.). She's biracial Egyptian/First Nations. She has major mommy issues, having grown up both admiring and resenting Ana. She's the bridge between Old Overwatch, inspired by the idealized heroes who surrounded her childhood, and New Overwatch. She's one of the only inter-generational characters in the cast; someone whose experiences span the gap, which is why I seriously believe Pharah would make a great main character.

There isn't much to go off of, though; she's a very uncomplicated character (she's a soldier for a private military corporation, lol.). But that just means she's a blank slate character, so I've seen fanfic writers run wild and create some really interesting takes on her. My favorite interpretation of her's a dense, herbo gym-bro type (a lot of her liens are about work outs, exercising, and playing sports) who's easily excitable under her seemingly self-serious, armored visage. We see how she tends to gloat and hype herself up when she's on a streak too, so Pharah definitely has a competitive and boastful side under her more professional and militant performance.

Now Mercy? Mercy is a real complex character.

Gay ships getting screwed over by homophobic producers/writers as soon as they get wind of it is nothing new, but what has been done to stucky really is uniquely cruel. 

I’ve never heard of a gay ship having one member’s importance to the other simply... written out of the show/film? (Has this been done?) 

Never heard of a gay ship having decades of important source material about them deliberately sabotaged just to spite a  gay ship (that wasn’t even canonically gay or ever going to be so, anyway?) 

Or having the (heterosexual-ising) female character literally put into the male character’s canon place, using his gay-inspiring scenes, with any other ship. 

I’ve never heard of an actor’s brilliant performance, which made certain lines iconic; whose skill as an actor is the very reason they’re iconic...  simply being taken away from him and credited to an untalented actress who never said them. 

Just to damage an un-canon gay ship?! 

Imagine they brought out new Trek shows with Kirk and Spock and said ‘anyway, Spock never meant anything to Kirk, every Spirk thing he said was actually said to/about his new wife Spacky (Woman who joined the Hating-Vulcans Society and hired guys to torture Spock) and here’s a flashback to Spacky as Kirk’s Chief Science Officer all those years. Also we will be buying up other media and editing all tie-ins to reflect that they are nOT GAY.’ 

It’s unprecedentedly monstrous.

Lights flash everywhere, and you see Joel singing "honey honey honey" along with Joel, while Joel is singing "meal with Stephanie". Everyone in the crowd is going wild and crying. Then if things couldn't get better, Jimmy and Etho walk onto stage and kiss, holding the Lizzie flag.

in any human GerIta AU, DA ONLY WAY I can think of these two meeting is in central Berlin, early December, around 23pm on a Wednesday or Thursday…. Feliciano is on his way home from having a glass of wine with his friends at a bar, he’s in a good mood and despite the cold he’s wearing his long winter coat unbuttoned… he’s swaying on the sidewalk and suddenly slips and falls, despite the circumstances rather gracefully. Ludwig, the stranger closest to Feliciano, decides to step in and help the guy, simply bc Ludwig is a nice man and not at all bc Feliciano is hawt and sexy and looks like his wet dreams from high school (and also NOT AT ALL. bc Ludwig’s brain has been conditioned into thinking he only has value when serving others). Anyway, despite Ludwig’s help, Feliciano CANNOT get his balance locked in and keeps slipping in Ludwig’s arms, despite Ludwig having a literal iron grip on him ……. alas Feliciano ends up piggy back riding Ludwig, across frosty cobblestone streets lit up by Christmas lights strung between buildings where the windowsills r covered with snow and decorated with greenery ……. n the night is deep and blue and LOVE is in da air …… and from a bar, half empty save the middle aged regulars, u can hear smooth jazz as Feliciano drunkenly points out the directions of his apartment. Anyway this works for literally almost all time periods and I will NOT take any criticism . Talk to the hand this is how they meet as humans

crimeboys runaway au inspo: tommy eventually opening up about his abusive home life makes wil start to hesitate about giant and human relations but meanwhile tom realizes that giants have treated him kinder than any human ever has and he desperately wants to join giant society but knows that's impossible. Maybe there are human niches that work well in giant society job wise? anyway protective giant sbi!

Tommy in this au has some serious issues with talking about his issues, but, as vaguely as I can put it, something happens that makes it so Tommy has to tell Wil that his home life sucks. After this Wilbur makes it a point to help Tommy though everything and make sure he always feels heard, which Tommy’s never had before.

I love the idea that Wilbur makes Tommy feel safer and happier than any human ever has, and he would definitely grow to want to join human society.

As for jobs, in this au, giants and humans are split completely and most never meet someone of a different size in their entire lives. I’d say the only people who might meet with people of different sizes are people who enforce the separation laws and bring the people who cross the barrier back to their proper side.

Maybe Wilbur and Tommy could make something, though, or try to convince humans and giants that they should try to be more connected. After all, that “giant airbnb” app thing that Wilbur and Tommy met on exists, why can’t there be more? I think that could be cool!

As for protective sbi, i hate to say it, but that might take a little while in this au. I love them, don’t get me wrong, it will happen, but neither Techno nor Phil know anything about Tommy’s existence. Techno doesn’t like the idea of what Wilbur is doing with Tommy and Phil just hates the idea of humans and giants meeting at all in general. It’ll take some time before Tommy even meets them, let alone gets them to be ok with his presence.
