Stop making Excuses Batman
Flash Appreciation Post and Another Post Roasting Bruce.
Tumblr media
“I’m sorry I haven’t had more time, Damian. The city is in danger. That requires my full focus.”
The Flash, with similar amounts of responsibility as Batman:
Tumblr media
“Run with me.”
Tumblr media
“Did you just walk me to school?”
“I had to make sure that you got there.”
Tumblr media
“Stay close to me!”
Tumblr media
“Wally look at me. There is nothing wrong with you.”
Tumblr media
“But...Wally...can take care of himself. And I don’t owe him the kind of apologizes I owe you. I shouldn’t have--”
Tumblr media
“Wait--I’ve been trying to get a hold of  you for days. I promise I’ve changed. I know how I acted before was wrong. But there’s something I need to show you.”
“No..no, not at all. Iris and I will talk when we’re both ready...But...run with me and I’d love to show you how I am trying, okay?”
Tumblr media
“I trust you to do it on your own. But this time you can also do it with our help and support. I let us run alone for too long. It’s time we ran together again...”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“SHOOT! I’ve been running so long I forgot I told Iris, Wallace and Avery that I’d make it back to Iris’s house tonight! And Wallace and Avery were going to make dinner!”
“I’m sorry I’m...late...”
I’m tired of Bruce making excuses for his neglect especially when he blames it on not having enough time.
Barry has as much responsibilities as Bruce and yet almost ALWAYS makes time for his family. Some may point out that Barry is superhuman and therefore should not be compared to Bruce. Bruce may not have superpowers but he has something Barry doesn’t: money (or well he used to). But just Barry’s abilities give him the speed to spare some time for his family Bruce’s money and fast vehicles grant him enough time to look over his son.
When Barry apologizes he doesn’t make excuses like Bruce does. He admits his fault and promises to do better. And he actually makes the effort to SHOW them he’s trying. And you know, that’s all I need from a busy hero, to show me they are trying to be better.
Bruce has made no effort whatsoever to contact his son or run after him when tragedy strikes. Barry has done both and even more. Barry confesses to trying to contact Wallace multiple times and when Wallace found out his father died...Barry immediately dropped everything and ran after him. He even sat down with him and talked to him for a long time in attempt to comfort him.
There is a reason  why I get so frustrated with Bruce’s treatment of his family especially of Damian and have come to the point were the only thing I feel for Bruce is pure hatred. There’s a reason why I get so frustrated when people defend his actions and inaction’s...like just admit Bruce is written badly but don’t defend him for being a horrible father.
Barry tries to be better while Bruce says he will try and never does.
If Barry can make time for his family despite his responsibilities, I expect Bruce to do the same.

What is Tony’s fav soup? In fact, all the fav soups of the avengers go!
(please)
OMG anon heyyyyyy!!!
Thank you SO much for this ask I am literally sitting you down at my dining room table right now and offering you my favorite homemade roasted tomato soup with roasted garlic bread that I made this afternoon just for you and i hope you don't mind i've already packed you a tupperware to go too <3
Edit! Forgot to mention that this ask was most definitely inspired by this post!
JARVIS (AKA my favorite Avenger don't come at me): JARVIS loves alphabet soup lol!! ................................................................please clap
Rhodey: Roasted Tomato Soup with Roasted Garlic Bread (as aforementioned!). Why mess with the classics?? Bonus: Rhodey never passes up the opportunity to assault Tony with his weapons-grade garlic breath before Tony begs him to please go gargle some mouthwash NOW.
Bruce: Haleem. So much of his life is trying to fight against the hot anger and turmoil within him that seems to tear him apart from the inside out. The first time he had haleem was while he was in hiding in India when a lovely woman whose name he never caught saw him shaking against the side of a building in the street and offered him a bowl to eat when she coaxed him to come join her and her family for dinner that night. I firmly believe in the divine healing powers of women you don't know who offer you a brief and selfless kindness during the darkest moments of your life and I know Bruce does too. Sometimes it's nice to let yourself feel the sort of warmth without jagged edges that can only come from a kind stranger or a desi stew <3
Thor: is ambrosia a soup or a drink? let's go soup. I feel like thor doesn't care much either way for most midgardian foods BUT i also feel like one time he had the most god awful hot dog soup at a diner in New Mexico and was forevermore Compelled by it.
Clint: Clint does not like soup. Why would he, after all, it's barely food and it's certainly not a drink. When Clint wants to eat he wants to chew his food like a grown man, damn it! No, Clint definitely does not like soup. And he certainly does not keep a can of Campbell's Tomato A to Z's in his pantry to eat on nights when Laura is visiting her mother and the kids are all out for some reason or another--going to the next town over for a baseball game or an overnight band trip or sleeping over at a friend's house--and he just can't believe that they're growing so fast and he remembers feeding all his babies A to Z's while they were squirming around in the high chair and then having to finish up the half-spilled bowl himself before it became a fully-spilled bowl. It definitely doesn't taste like nostalgia and stability and family. Definitely not.
Pepper: French Onion. Classy and sophisticated, you can't cut corners with this soup. This is a luxurious soup, but instead of highfalutin ingredients or 36-step recipes, all the luxury is derived from time and care; a soup for one with high standards, discerning taste, and a lot of love in her heart <3
Natasha: Thai Corn Soup. Spicy and comfy and perfect in every way. May seem a bit intimidating for a home chef at first, but practice is the key and it takes much less practice than you'd think to make the best thai corn soup <3
Steve: Tom Kha Gai. This was definitely a case of Steve bemusedly getting dragged all around New York by Tony and Natasha and Pepper to try out all the international cuisines he's never heard of before and then having a quasi-religious experience in the restaurant because he did not know soup could taste Like That. No recipe because honestly neither Steve nor I have the clearance to make this. We prefer getting it straight from our favorite local Thai joint.
Tony: Vegetable Beef Soup. No recipe here either, though there was one at some point--Tony seems to recall a step involving flour that Steve always thought was bullshit so they skipped that step every time and then eventually just stopped using the recipe altogether. What goes in this soup? Tony couldn't tell you, though to be fair he wouldn't be able to tell you what goes in most of the food he's ever eaten that's usually prepared by butlers and high-end chefs, but he could most definitely show you the ingredients that go into this soup. It's all in the muscle memory, bustling about the kitchen in the kind of easy unspoken choreography that says i want to stay here forever with you. The ingredient list changes a bit every time depending on what's around, but Tony could recognize this soup anywhere. This is kind of soup you make with and for a very special someone. This is the soup you make when what you're really making is a home together <3

*Cracks fingers*
I have lots of these babies, and by lots I mean by hundreds. But rather than bore you with links you'll have to save, have the users instead, who write lots of these.
izumi2
I know them mostly for their fix-it and 'how logic proves that [insert character or group] is wrong and/or stupid and Tony is all the better without them' works. Very interesting takes on many subjects, whether you're team cap or not, but I do not recommend it to anyone who can't take to read too much anti, or sparingly, at least.
TheSovereigntyofReality
Same as before, but also very much not Peggy and Wakanda friendly ('very much not' is a big understatement). Also an interesting on many subjects, but same warning as before, not recommended if you cannot handle not friendly/anti works. This one is more of a 'have some canon divergence/AUs so I can inject logic into characters and/or put them into contact with sensible people who will make them realize they are surrounded by absolute imbeciles' and also meta ones. They are often pro-Howard, which I appreciate.
Kizmet
One cannot read izumi2 without also reading Kizmet imo. I personally find more meta in their works, and more diversity. Their what-if series was particularly captivating, in a Terminator-3's-Judgement-Day's way. Communication fairies were unleashed on the MCU, yet every terrible events that we have seen still happened... Which much more open protest and reasons. But one does not stop Judgement Day, one can only delay it. Same warning as before, but I think it is more bearable in general.
Watermelons000
Much less works, enough salt to make a sensory deprivation tank, AUs here and there, it's like a garden except it's also a zoo, and Bruce Wayne somehow found a way into this (in one fic). It's perhaps not exactly what you are looking for, but everyone needs to try exotic tea.
aliaoftwoworlds
To anyone reading this, I absolutely recommend reading their Electric Veins story, it is mostly Rhodey-centric and is a canon-divergence story after Civil War. It's one of those 'what if Tony had died in Siberia' stories, except it's actually about healing and reconstruction after the world is destroyed by Thanos, and it's absolutely fantastic if you want wholesome Tony&Rhodey friendship, whether you are team cap or not (better if you're not but honestly the focus is not too heavy on them). There's also a small one-shot afterwards for Ironhusbands stans like me *blush*. They are more about fix-its, canon divergences and what-ifs, but they also do quite the bitter stuff, when they want to.
dls
The ultimate master. I bow to their talent and writing, and kiss their hands every day for having blessed me with my co-favorite Ironfrost series of all times: Would You Do It All The Same? Now, dls? I did not know they were not Steve friendly, I read a 270k stories over a year and a half without ever realizing it, only thinking it was just how the character in this story was, and that was the end of it. Until a read a post-endgame one shot with the 'not steve friendly' and 'dark steve' (because of the time-travel conundrum when people wondered if he replaced himself and Peggy's husband in the past) tags and realized I had been had, bamboozled, and quite thoroughly f★★★★★d over. This is the extent of their power. One does not take dls lightly, one treads on their grounds like a hobbit in a dragon's cave, seeing gold everywhere and not realizing they're already dead (or not quite). Absolutely wonderful. A 100% recommended. On every single one of their work, even just for curiosity, to anyone. (Or at least on Would You Do It All The Same?, Do it for me, please, try it. *Puppy eyes*)
★★★
Now these are the only ones I have read from a lot personally, there are other writers that love to roast and/or demonstrate their distaste of Team Cap/Wanda/whoever you want, and unfortunately not Steve friendly is not a tag yet (despite the 28 pages of it ln Ao3, yes, 28) so the search is a bit hectic, but if these do not satisfy you (which, blasphemy! *Laugh*), then feel free to look upon that tag, which is usually the best one to look for. (I have not looked into anti Wanda/not Wanda friendly, those usually come to me naturally with not Steve friendly).
hey do you get any good anti wanda or anti team cap fanfic ?
noooo sorry…i don’t read a lot of fic to begin with, especially not these days, so i can’t give any recs that specific. also, i’m not especially keen on anti-anyone fics, tbh…
good luck finding some good ones, though! signal boosting this, too, in case anyone can recommend any.
