#I could be a librarian

As absolutely stupid as this is gonna sound:

Librarians of Tumblr (because I know you’re here) do I “have” to have a degree in library science to work at a library?

And (gulps really hard) how hard is getting a library science degree?

Please take into consideration that I am 46 and have not been in a school for any sort of learning since 1995.

I’m starting over in everything and I’d really like to do something that I like and think I’d be good at for the rest of my life instead of just shuffling away the days.

Gonna throw out something crazy. See what sticks. Maybe nothing, hopefully something:

In about 3 months, the US is getting a total solar eclipse. I am a Librarian at a Public Library hosting an event.

Now, I KNOW every corner of the globe has mythology on this very cool astrological event. Many with neat monsters/creatures to go with. It is difficult to find images of said creatures. Sometimes even difficult to find the mythology from various parts of the world. Almost impossible to find coloring pages.

I live in a tiny town, and I am doing everything I can to expand the horizons of the kiddos who live here, and they go bananas for a good story out loud, especially if they have something to do with their hands while listening, like pictures to color in.

I call on the artists of the internet. If you know of a myth about Solar Eclipse, please add on to this post. Tell me the basic myth, tell me the country/culture of origin, and please please please, add a cool picture I can turn into a coloring page. Artist names will be left on pictures for admirers to go look them up, and I hope artists see this as a fun challenge.

I don’t even know if Tumbler in English language has that much of an international presence but… 🤷🏻‍♀️ Here’s hoping.

Went looking back on a bunch of old art, and decided

It would he really fun to try and copy the old ways I used to sketch w/o trying to outright copy my old style just as a fun little warm up

It's insane how much if a difference the subtle details in how I sketched made when it came time to line

Role-reversal AU where Machete opens a library on Florence and slowly becomes a very influencial local political figure, while Vasco's parents become fed-up with his "lifestyle" and send him away to the clergy (he probably has a brother in this AU, to make their decision more believable)

They reconnect in a similar way to the original, but their relationship is much more tragic as Vasco became self-hating and thinks he corrupted/doomed Machete in their youth and meanwhile, this Machete is trying to protect him from the corrupted side of the Church and possible assassination plot, that he's too indoctrinated to see happening around him

A interesting ending for this AU should be that Machete still dies, but results in Vasco finally running away from the clergy/inquisition (not sure if Vasco joins the inquisition or not, you can decide) and hiding in the country-side. Where he grows old dedicating various paintings and poems to Machete and possibly taking care of some noble's horses for a living

rick brainstorming - x-143 whose home dimension was outside the curve. his attempts to make portal fluid in his 20s lead to a world-ending event that caused him to go apocalypse mode while the council decided if a rick 'stupid enough' to do that deserved help. he eventually figured the formula out on his own though and dimension hops now. hes otherwise fairly low tech if he can help it - being a scientist has caused him enough problems.

his earth was used as a dumping ground for the citadel and ended up being where slick dropped when he jumped in the wishing portal - the two eventually found each other on a really fortune visit home for x-143 and well. thats his morty now! he ripped his drama implant out one night bc of how fucking annoying it made him n now slicks kindve chilled out.

he takes issue w being catalyst rick and even more issue with the many ricks who call him cat rick or kitty to mock (and flirt) w him. as a side note.

Miles is hired as Zak’s defense (he’s only able to beat him in poker due to many games played against Phoenix with Miles trying to win and losing each time…but since he’s trained so much in an attempt to beat his friend in poker, he’s just good enough to beat Zak in poker)

Miles is therefore then the one disbarred, but he doesn’t fall to being how like Beanix is. He gets a job as like a librarian or something like that and he is kind of more responsible than Phoenix when it comes to raising Trucy (lmao sorry Phoenix but it’s true) but he still has that fake friendship with Kristoph to dig up evidence

the other day i leafed through a book about norwegian artists and skimmed the page for theodor kittelsen, the folklore artist i named myself after, most known for his paintings of trolls and nøkken and such. i was very amused to find that he was seen by some as controversial in his time - apparently his paintings were using german influences and contributing to the trend of impressionable norwegian youth using german words as slang. mind you, his paintings are now some of the most norwegian-y cultural artefacts out there. the other controversy was that illustrating fairytales and books was gonna ruin the poor youths' minds and their ability to imagine things inside their head without aid. oh no!!!!!!!!!
