whatever you want
paige bueckers x fem reader
fluff & flirtation per usual
you were never one to be spoiled growing up, having to wait to buy things simply cause you couldn’t afford it, that was until your girlfriend came along, who can’t help but spoil the SHIT outta you.
enjoy babes 🙂‍↕️
growing up, you never really bought things for yourself, you bought things for school, things to eat, necessities. you were brought up to buy things you needed, wants weren't important. sure, you bought things for yourself, but you couldn't help the mentality you had, it was all you were use to. obviously you couldn't get away with getting nothing you wanted when you were around your college athlete of a girlfriend, who wanted to spoil you rotten.
you and paige started dating around two years ago, you transferred to uconn from your previous college, wanting more academic opportunities that weren't provided at your old school. you were new around, and paige saw that, and immediately befriended you. it started from friends, to seeing each other every other day to everyday, and paige popped the question, and finally asked you on a date.
she took you to a fancy restaurant, you tried your best to dress fancy, not expecting such an extravagant place, considering your past dates never went this hard for you. everything on the menu was so expensive, and you didn't plan on spending too much money tonight, so you ordered something small.
"yeah i'll have the small plate of alfredo, if that's okay." you ask the server, and he nods as a response.
"you sure you want the small, you told me you haven't eaten all day?" she asks you with genuine concern, hoping you would want more since you didn't eat anything until tonight.
"paige, these menu items are pricey for me, i'm sorry. i just paid rent and bills have been tight-"
"who said anything about you paying?" she raises her eyebrow at you, laughing and asking the server to get you the normal portion of what you ordered, instead of the small.
"shit, don't even know why you brought money with you honestly, you know i got you ma." she says, looking at you and smirking.
"i just didn't wanna assume p, i didn't know you'd go this hard for me. i'm not used to fancy environments, if you get what i'm saying." you express to her, kind of sad in a way, as you two are in totally different worlds financially.
"hey, one thing about us is when it comes to anything you want, I'M gonna buy it, and you can't stop me." she tells you, looking intently in your eyes, wanting to buy the world for you if she could.
your eyes soften at paige's words, knowing this was something to get use to, you weren't mad at it. maybe it was good to have something nice every now and then.
after this date, everything between you and paige go exceptionally well. you're learning that your girlfriend really doesn't give up on spoiling you, more and more nil money coming through, disregarding your say and buying things for you anyways. gifts, jewelry, and the most over the top "just because" presents from her; and don't get her started on the holidays.
when you lovebirds finally hit your two year anniversary, paige was eager to get you out of your shared apartment. asking you to run errands for her, even though you planned on doing so already. little did you know, her and the team were setting up something special for you. you wanted to get something special for her, saving your money to get you and her matching sparkling silver necklaces, her's being a thicker chain and yours thinner and dainty, each having your names on them, you'd wear the one with paiges' name, and she wore yours. you bought a cute gift bag for them, but that wasn't your only stop. you stopped by crumbl and bought cookies for her, the nike store to purchase new basketball shoes for her, as well as buying her a bouquet of flowers, wrapped in purple paper.
but that wasn't it.
you had been searching the internet for a promise ring. one that fit paige's personality and vibe, and found the perfect one. a beautiful silver band, with the words "i love you" engraved in the inside. it was perfect. "i can spoil my girlfriend sometimes too", you thought to yourself.
a good 3 hours pass by the time you got home, hands full of gifts for her to open, stacked so high in your hands you could barely see the door. you set them down to grab your keys, then you slowly pick everything back up. the lights are off, weirdly enough, since you could've sworn you left them on before paige asked you to "run errands".
you set everything on the table near the front door, going to turn the light on, when suddenly everyone pops out of their hiding places yelling "surprise!" making you jump suddenly, then immediately bursting into laughter, tears slowly forming when you realized the set up in front of you. there were balloons stating "happy anniversary" plastered on the wall, the whole house decorated in beautiful colors, and multiple gift baskets sitting on the coffee table.
"happy anniversary ma." paige says to you sweetly, tearing up herself and kissing you, then quickly holding you close.
"p, i can't believe you did all this for me," you say in between giggles and tears.
"oh this is nothing, open them gifts for me ma." she tells you, handing you one of the smaller ones first, being a pandora bag. you take the pink paper out of the bag, and see three boxes. inside is a bracelet, already decked out in charms, as well as two other boxes. in these boxes were seperate charms, saying things like "i love you" and "always and forever" engraved in the silver accessories. she helps you put it on, your arm clinking from the sound of the charms hitting one another.
"okay this one you'll love. and don't ask me how much it was, thank you very much." she says sassily, and you can't help but smile and rolling your eyes, knowing that as many times as you've asked how much things cost, she wouldn't tell you. you slowly unwrap the box, seeing the words "van cleef" printed on the front.
"no you didn't." you say sternly.
"but i did baby." she says shrugging her shoulders and laughing.
inside was an all silver van cleef chain bracelet, the clovers reflecting under the light, giving your wrist an extra shine. you look at paige softly, the look of pure love in your eyes, wondering how you got so lucky with someone like her. fuck the money, you wanted to be in paige's life forever, regardless of how much she had.
after you put your bracelet on, you hug her tightly, then walk towards the gifts you bought her earlier. the first thing you hand her are the beautiful hand picked flowers, she blushes at the thought of you buying them for her, and kisses you on the cheek. you set the crumbl cookies on the table, and pass her the nike box.
"oh shit y/n! you remembered i wanted these?" referring to the conversation you two had a couple days ago, as she rambled about basketball and some new basketball shoes she wanted.
"i remember everything baby, and you're not done, there's a couple more things," you say while grabbing the bag the necklaces came in, as well as the box with her promise ring inside.
she takes the necklaces out of the bag, and tilts her head with a smile so hard, it makes her eyes close.
"finna be repping you all day everyday huh ma?" she says flirtatiously, and you respond by smirking back at her.
"i know that's right," you say reciprocating her energy, something she loved about you.
she puts hers on, and assists you with yours since you just got your nails done, and can't seem to manage with them at the moment.
"wait baby, there was one more thing, it's inna room, i'll be right back." she tells you, walking away into your bedroom.
she comes back out excited, and she shares a suggestion,
"why don't we exchange them at the same time nd open em together?" she asks, and you agree.
she hands you the box, and you do the same. and on the count of 3 you open at the same time.
"three.."
"two..."
"one... open"
you both gasp and look at each other quickly, realizing you bought the same gift for each other, but different in it's own way. the ring you bought paige was the same as yours, just a band to fit her style more. yours had a beautiful teardrop diamond, with the same words "i love you" engraved in the inside.
"wow ma, you know me real well huh?" she says while putting her ring on, whistling at the fresh silver, almost able to see her reflection. you put yours on, the diamond sparkling anytime you slightly moved your hand.
paige looks at you, and you look at paige.
"happy anniversary mama."
"happy anniversary baby." you say, still so shook that she did all this for you.
"i been told you, it's whatever you want ma, i always got you."
————————————————————————————-
HELLO TO THE BAD BITCHESSSS, i know this isn’t a part two of open your eyes but that is inna works (and almost done) so i wanted to give you something while you waited! thank you guys for the support you bring and i love you dearly 🙂‍↕️(for p’s necklace think of the new “5 chain” she got that she wore to the seattle game if that helps 🤭)

"Rockin' around the Christmas tree, have a happy holiday…"
The Christmas classic played softly in the background while you were decorating some Christmas cookies to take to your parents' house tomorrow morning for a long, long day of celebrating, laughing and plenty of food. You couldn't help but hum along to the song not even realizing you were gently swaying your hips to the music.
"Everyone dancin' merrily, in the new old-fash-"
Your phone stopped the music, your ringtone now blaring through your Bluetooth speaker. Shifting your eyes from the snowman shaped cookie to your phone, you frowned slightly with confusion when you saw the name 'Wanda Maximoff' trying to call you. Quickly, you brushed your hands on your red apron with reindeer printed all over it and swiped 'answer' before putting the device to your ear.
"Hello?" You answered.
"Y/n, Hi, it's Wanda from next door!" The Sokovian replied with a cheerful tone with a hint of stress.
"Hey Wanda, is everything okay?" You asked before dipping your index finger into the bowl of icing.
"I hate to be a bother, especially since its Christmas Eve but I have stupidly forgot one of the twins Santa gifts! I have called the store and they said they had one of the remote-control cars left in stock and are going to put it aside for me. I was just wondering if you'd be able to come sit with the boys while I duck out to pick up the toy before the store closes? They're asleep, so they won't be an issue" your neighbor explained.
You'd been babysitting Tommy and Billie since you moved in next door. You needed the extra cash and Wanda needed the extra help since her and her ex-husband, Vision, got divorced.
"Of course, just give me 5-10 minutes and I'll pop right over" you replied with a soft smile to yourself.
"You're an angel! Thank you love!" Wanda said before hanging up the phone.
Moments later you were greeted by the warm smile of your neighbor as she opened the door. "Come in, come in" she gestured with her hand. You returned the smile as you stepped into her living room, she closed the door behind you, but you couldn't help but notice a certain silence in the home. Your eyes landed on the coffee table, evidence of a bottle of red and an empty glass with lipstick stains around the rim made you frown slightly once more.
"So" you said as you turned on your heels to face the older woman, taking in the fact she was in her silk dark red night gown and clearly had no intentions of leaving the house.
"Don't be mad, but the boys are with Vision" Wanda admitted quickly, seeing the confused look on your face.
"Oh" you replied as Wanda took a few short steps closer to you.
"You look worried, I am sorry, I don't mean to worry you darling" she smiled softly as she closed the gap between you both, "it's just, I guess the holidays have made me feel lovely and I wasn't sure how else to get you to come over" she went on.
"I understand" you replied, shaking off the odd feeling you had, "you could've just said" you added, smiling kindly at the woman.
Gently, Wanda brushed a lock of hair behind your ear before her hand cupped your face. You weren't sure what was happening, your heart skipped a beat at her actions. Part of you felt like this was wrong but the other part of you was melting on the inside at her soft, warm touch. Her green eyes were burning into you, watching as you got lost in them.
"You're so sweet darling, do you remember when you said you'd be happy to help me?" She asked in a soft tone, "with anything" she whispered, her eyes dropping to your lips. Lost in a trance, you nodded.
"I need your help sweetheart, you see, I haven't felt any relief since Vision walked out that door. It's lonely here without the boys and I have seen the way you look at me"
"I-I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean" you replied with a stutter. Your heart dropped to your stomach, you were sure the short glances were never something Wanda noticed.
"Your secret is safe with me darling" her thumb stroked your cheek, "let me ask you something, have you ever been with an older woman?" She asked as her eyes locked with yours once more. You shook your head at her question.
"I didn't think so, why don't you take a seat for me?" Wanda suggested. You walked around the sofa and took a seat in the middle, your hands sweaty with nerves. Wanda sat down beside you as she poured herself another glass of red, "would you like a glass?" She offered but you smiled kindly and shook your head.
You watched as her lips touched the wine glass, taking a generous sip before placing it back on the coffee table and letting her hand rest on the top of your thigh. She closed her eyes for a moment, letting the alcohol wash down the back of her throat before she looked at you once more. "I can tell you're nervous, it's okay, if you can't help me, I understand. I'm sure I'll find some other way to relieve myself" she said, breaking the silence with a hint of sadness in her tone.
"N-no!" You turned to her, "I want to help, I mean, I know the holidays can get lonely and you've been nothing but kind to me" you assured her. Wanda smiled softly once more, she had you right where she needed you, mentally.
"I'm not sure you're understanding what I need darling" she replied, running her hand higher up your thigh, "I need you" she lent in and whispered sending a throb to your core. You felt yourself getting wetter at the thought of being with her, just this once.
"Ms Maximoff, I wo-" you paused, placing your hand on top of hers and stopping her from moving it any further to your pussy, "I wouldn't want to do anything that would ruin what we have going on, I love babysitting the boys and I know you need that help bu-"
"Shhh" she cut you off, "this won't ruin anything angel, I promise" she added, shifting closer to you. "This will just be our little secret" she whispered before you felt her soft lips press against your neck. It was almost as if you had fallen apart completely, a soft moan left your lips as your neighbor's lips explored the exposed skin of your neck. She worked her way to your lips, kissing you deeply while you slowly laid back on the sofa, letting her hover above you.
Her lips were full, soft and sent butterflies to your stomach then suddenly she stopped and pulled away, "come on dieťa, let's go to my bedroom" she spoke, her Sokovian accent coming in thick, making you weaker for her. You followed her up to her bedroom where she wasted no time pinning you up against the wall, her lips attacking your neck once more while her hands slid inside of your sweater before working it off.
"Lay down on the bed darling, mamina is going to make you feel so good, I promise" she whispered against your ear.
Like a lost puppy, you did exactly what she said and now here you were moments later, naked with her lips trailing down your body. "Mm dieťa, you're so wet and I've barely touched you" she looked up at you from between your thighs. "Say you need me" she added.
"I need you" you replied, feeling your pussy throb with need to be touched.
"Not like that! You know what I want to hear" she said bluntly, giving a light slap on your clit making you squirm. "I need you, please mommy!" you begged knowing she had just broke you, "mommy, please" you begged once more just to have another chance to call her mommy.
"I have waited far too long to have you say that" she replied before running the tip of her tongue through your folds, humming at the taste of your arousal. Her tongue worked through your folds, around your clit and inside your pussy before she began to lap at your pussy. Her room only filled with the sounds of your moans and the sucking sound of her lips wrapped around your clit, she was far better than any toy you'd used on yourself.
"F-fuck!" You moaned, gripping handfuls of her hair as she slowly inserted two fingers inside of you, "d-don't stop mommy!!" You moaned once more as she began to thrust her fingers.
Her tongue swirling around the hood of your clit, her fingers thrusting deeper with every moan that left your lips, your pussy clenching around her fingers as you grew closer and closer to your first release. Throwing your head back with a hand covering your mouth to keep the urge to scream her name from leaving your lungs.
"Don't keep those pretty little moans from me, miláčik! I want to hear them all, I want to hear how good mamina fucks your pretty pussy" Her words filled your mind causing your hand to land beside you, grabbing at the sheets turning your knuckles white. Once more, the bedroom was filled with your moans.
"Cum for me love, you can do it" Wanda paused for a moment to take a mental screenshot of the way you looked right now, spared out for her, giving her exactly what she craved. You came with her name on your tongue, your legs shook as she continued to lap at your folds and thrusting her fingers slowly to ride out your high. "That's a good dieťa" Wanda smiled to herself once you had caught your breath.
Wanda hovered over you, watching the way your eyes looked into hers. You gently cupped her face and pulled her down, kissing her deeply and ignoring the sweet taste of yourself on her lips. "It's your turn mommy" you smirked against her lips before swiftly flipping you both over so you were on top of her.
Her hardened nipples peeked through the silk of her gown, catching your eyes almost instantly as you traced a finger down the valley of her breasts and untied her gown, letting it slide off her skin. Your eyes travel slowly from her exposed breasts to her eyes, she smiled softly, "go on darling, have a taste" she said softly as if she could read your mind.
You wasted no time latching your lips around her left nipple. Wanda moaned softly, running her fingers through your hair, "don't be shy dieťa" she said before the warmth of her milk hit your tongue. At first it tasted a little unusual but the more your tongue swirled and flickered at her nipple while you sucked lightly, you grew to love it and eventually moved your lips to her right nipple and giving it the same attention.
Wanda's moans were sweet, like hot chocolate on a cold winter's night. She loved watching the way your lips were glued to her, from her nipples to making your way down to her core. You kissed the inside of her thighs, remembering all those times you got lost thinking about how lucky her husband (now ex) was.
"You're so adorable" Wanda smiled softly when you looked up at her for permission, "go ahead, sweetheart. Make mamina cum" she added. Her Sokovian accent only turning you one more, if that were even possible.
You took a long lick through her folds, moaning softly at the taste of her. She was sweet, better than any candy you'd had before. You lapped and swirled your tongue, almost copying the same actions she did on you, dipping your tongue inside of her while your fingers toyed with her clit. Her hands rested comfortably on your head, her hips grinding against your tongue as she moaned and praised you.
"That's it baby, just like that! Fuck!" She moaned, a light smirk on her lips as she enjoyed the bliss she was receiving, closing in on her orgasm with every flick of your tongue. "Sm close darling! Don't stop!" She moaned once more, gripping a handful of your hair and slightly pushing you further into her pussy as she grinds herself against you just a little harder. Her pussy clenched around the tip of your tongue every time you were inside her, you didn't want this to end but you couldn't wait to feel her release on your tongue.
"I'm cumming!!" Wanda moaned loudly as she gushed onto your tongue, you drew light circles around her clit to help her ride out her high, looking up at her to see her smirk turned to a soft but proud smile.
 "Come up here sweetheart" she instructed after a few moments. You laid on top of her, she brushed locks of hair behind your ear before pulling you back in for a deep kiss, loving the taste of herself on your lips.
"Thank you love, you've been such a big help" she smiled softly. You could feel her still hard nipples against your naked skin, you smiled in return before nuzzling your head into her chest. Wanda pulled the covers over the two of you and placed a kiss on the top of your head as she wrapped her arms around you.
"Can I help you again in the morning?" You asked tiredly, already wanting another taste of her milk.
"You're going to be my little helper from now on darling, get some rest. I have a Christmas present for you in the morning" she replied softly, keeping you close.

delays | george clarke
the most voted for in my poll! also i love cute meeting fics so :)
Tumblr media
the airport was always a liminal space. seeing people getting drunk on seven pound pints in the airport, people with suitcases and business wear waiting impatiently for their plane, and parents with kids waiting in hopes of the family holidays.
you, however, could not be as thrilled to be at the airport. your plane delayed at least three hours due to issues at the other end in greece, when all you were trying to do was join your friends on holiday, after you could only make half the holiday due to work.
your gate was relatively empty, people leaving to get food or have a drink in anticipation of having to wait even longer for the planes arrival. you, on the other hand, had no where to go or nothing to do, so sat mindlessly, music playing on your headphones and looking at the other planes in the taxiways and aprons, almost willing time to move quicker, when someone came and sat pretty close to you.
at first you found it a little strange, that he had sat only one seat apart from you when there was a practically empty gate, until he turned to you with a slight smile, and you saw him say something - which you couldn't quite hear with your headphones loud, so you quickly moved one from the side of your head.
"sorry?" you said softly, indirectly asking him to repeat.
looking at him properly, he was attractive. broad shoulders that were only more accentuated by the tight-ish sky blue top he was wearing, light brown hair and a beard that seemed to suit him almost too well.
"i was just saying i wasn't trying to be weird, just this it the only seat next to a charge port," he laughed slightly, and you nodded a little awkwardly, smiling back.
"yeah, we're probably gonna be stuck here a while," you said with a grimacing smile, and he rolled his eyes in agreement.
"so, are you going anywhere nice?" he asked whilst popping the charger into the socket next to his seat.
you quirked your head a little, "well, we're probably going to the same place, no? i mean, we're at the same gate?" you laughed a little quietly.
"oh, nah, i more meant like, are you going on holiday or something?" he grinned a little.
"oh! yeah, sorry, um, i'm going to meet my friends, they're already on holiday, i'm just joining them late cause i had work, go figure," you smiled back at him, "what about you?"
"oh, i'm pretty much the same - my friends are already on holiday, i'm joining them late." he returned back.
"well, small world... though, i suppose mykonos is kind of a popular place for holidays," you said, a hint of amusement in your voice
a comfortable silence came for a moment as he looked at his phone, now charging, and you couldn't help but watch him for a moment, noticing his eyes were blue now from the light on his phone. but as quickly as he picked it up, he put it back down, and looked at you.
"so, you work?" he said, breaking the silence, "what do you do?"
"well, kind of work, i'm doing a masters, but i have a work placement kind of thing, but i'm doing fashion design," you offered with a small grin, "what about you?"
"oh, well... it's always the most jarring thing to tell people, but i guess i'm a content creator?" he laughed a little, "not that i don't love it, cause obviously i do, but i always feel like it sounds self important or something."
"i don't think it sounds self important," you reassured, "it's quite nice when people love what they do and you can tell, i think at least."
a genuine expression lit up his face, and he nodded a little, "thanks. so, what kind of fashion do you do? not that i know a lot about fashion, but there's like... runway and high-end and streetwear and stuff, right?" he laughed a little awkwardly.
"uhm, i mainly work with avant-garde, which is like.. it's pretty much like very artistic runway, if i had to describe it? a lot of impractical outfits that look visually interesting, basically," i giggled a little as i explained, "but on a personal level, i quite like just making pretty outfits, god knows i have too many clothes."
"i can tell. even in a stuffy airport waiting for a delayed plane, you do make it look good," he complimented, and you could see his eyes lingering on what you were wearing.
you tried your best to sound nonchalant as you felt blush creep on your cheeks.
"i mean, you don't look awful yourself, considering the circumstances," you offered, trying to stay casual, as you watched his eyes flick to your lips for a moment, before a playful smirk tugged at his own.
"so you could make me look cool with this?" he grinned, gesturing down to himself, the plain blue shirt and black shorts. you had to admit, even if it wasn't the height of style in any way, he looked good - effortlessly, it was a 'i've just come back from the gym and i still look good' kind of outfit.
"i mean, don't knock it! in modelling they often say that if you give anyone a nice outfit, they can look good, but only someone who already looks good can look nice in a plain outfit," you quirked an eyebrow up.
"so, what you're saying is i'm drop dead gorgeous?" he teased, and you rolled your eyes.
"hey, you're in gym shorts, i wouldn't go that far," you returned, and he grinned. "but you're definitely above average. not that your ego needs boosting anymore,"
"is that a professional opinion?" he asked, leaning towards you slightly, his eyes almost twinkling with amusement.
you scoffed playfully, "it's an honest opinion."
the low hum of the airport was the only noise for a brief moment, and you could almost feel his eyes flickering over your face.
"so, you're pretty, and charming, and stuck alone in an airport waiting to go on holiday with your friends. your boyfriend also waiting for you there?"
you choked slightly on your laughter, his directness taking you aback slightly, "uhm, wow, okay, straight to the point, are we?" you managed to reply, your cheeks burning, "i don't have a boyfriend."
he grinned, "that's useful." he said, almost matter of factly.
"so, no girlfriend for you?" you giggled back, and he rolled his eyes and huffed mockingly.
"well, it's not my fault i'm the loneliest man ever," he laughed slightly, "i mean, clearly i've got good chat, you're sat here, aren't you?"
you guffawed playfully, "hey, who says i'm not just sat here because i have to be?"
"well, what kind of guy would i be to let that opportunity go to waste?" he asked, smirk playing on his lips.
there was something undeniably attractive about his confidence.
"is that so?" you replied in a mock tone.
"absolutely. but i think i may need a name to call you other than 'you'," he said, leaning a little closer.
you could feel the warmth creeping up your neck.
"it's y/n." you said with a slight giggle, "and you?"
"george," he grinned back. "so, any chance you maybe want to waste some of the three hour delay by going for an insanely overpriced airport drink?"
"can't suppose it could hurt, especially since my friends are almost definitely drinking already."
"likewise with my friends. i mean, we can't let them have all the fun and fall behind ourselves, can we?" he grinned.

Happy holidays! We are officially into Christmas season (in my book) so why not throw out some soul crushing angst for the happy season? I'm obsessed with this EP and this heartbreaking song. This is everything I imagine every time I hear it so I hope you like it <3 Merry Ashmas ;)
Y/N can't help but feel blue as she watches Eddie fall in love
Cindy Lou Who
I saw you laughing in one of his pictures But you'll be the one with his ring on your finger There's red and green everywhere But l'm so blue
Y/N scrolled through her phone, smiling at all the holiday pictures of her friends. Nancy and Jonathan with their dogs. El and Hopper in matching Santa hats. Robin, Steve, and Dustin are in ugly Christmas sweaters.
She sat at her mother's kitchen table, her cousins running around the table. She couldn't help but feel sad during the Christmas season. This time last year she was at Eddie's kissing under the mistletoe, opening gifts, and decorating Wayne's tree.
Y/N felt her stomach drop to the floor when she came across a new photo Eddie posted with a girl. She looked gorgeous. Her blonde hair curled to perfection. Her body was covered in a brown sweater, a black skirt to her knees, and black tights covered her long legs. The smile on her face was bright and huge. It was real, she was laughing. Her hands were near her mouth as she giggled. But her eyes weren't on the camera, they were on Eddie.
He wasn't dressed too fancy, his jeans and leather jacket were just the same. He was smiling back at her, she wondered who took the picture. Who caught them in the moment and captured them forever to torture Y/N for the rest of her life.
Y/N clicked off her phone, searching to distract herself with the green and red decorations. But she couldn't help but feel so blue.
Maybe he met you somewhere in the desert While he was soul-searching, he found someone better Guess you make him happy like I couldn't do
More questions filled her head. When did they meet? Was it right after the breakup?
She wished Eddie and her ended better...or didn't end at all. But it ended in a screaming match and him slamming the door. When she went to his house to get him back, he was already gone.
Maybe while he was running away from her, he ran right into the beautiful girl's arms. She probably picked up the broken pieces Y/N made of Eddie's heart. Put the parts back together with her perfect hands.
Y/N couldn't pretend that he didn't look happy. It pained her to see how happy he was without her. She used to love seeing his smile, but now it felt like a punishment.
With your hair so long, lips so red Maybe we met once I forget Scrolling five years back, I'm obsessed Breaking my heart 'Tis the season I guess
Y/N knew she shouldn't, but she went back on her phone. She clicked on the photo to see the tag of the girl's name. The name popped up in white font, just one click away to send her through a spiral.
Click
She sucked in a harsh breath, the beautiful blonde's feed was full of Eddie. Y/N almost felt like she met this girl with how much she viewed her life through these small posts. Y/N scrolled and scrolled, five years back. She was obsessed with seeing who this girl was. She was always surrounded by friends and family. She enjoyed music, a point for Eddie there. She was a cheerleader, popular, and the sweetheart of the school. Of course, Eddie fell in love with her. Even before Eddie, the girl was happy and bright. Maybe she brought that into Eddie's life.
As Y/N scrolled back up, she took in the girl's name, Chrissy.
Chrissy posted a new photo, just a second ago of her red lips pressed against Eddie's under the mistletoe. The same mistletoe Y/N hung up three years in a row. Y/N tried to hold back the tears as she looked over the photo and the caption below.
Chrissy: Tis the season with my love
If you're waking up now in his old bed At his family's house, know that you're just Breaking my heart 'Tis the season I guess
Y/N tossed and turned all night. The image playing in her head, creating a story of how the night and morning would go.
Chrissy would wake up in Wayne's trailer, groaning at the harshness of Eddie's childhood bed. Y/N had so many memories in that small trailer, did Wayne and Eddie ever think of her?
Her heart shattered thinking of Chrissy in her spot. She wondered if Dustin met her, did Dustin love Chrissy as much as he used to love her? Does Eddie let him crash their dates like Y/N did?
Someone new was in Eddie's family house. Someone new was mixing Wayne's coffee, putting the star at the top of the tree, and kissing Eddie in the snow.
Y/N wanted to say how she felt, but it was no use. Eddie moved on and he was in love. Y/N wasn't able to make him happy like Chrissy does.
It was time Y/N just let him go.
~~~
Eddie moaned as his phone beeped, he blinked and snatched it from his nightstand. Chrissy fast asleep on his chest, he shifted lightly to turn on the phone.
He felt a weird feeling in his stomach when he saw it was a text from his ex-girlfriend. He was nervous to open the message but he needed to know what she said. He opened the text, his eyes glued to the words that left an ache in his heart.
" Breaking my heart, 'Tis the season I guess "
finnick odair x fem!reader
cw: teasing, sexual jokes, flirting, just a fun drabble.
request: still feel like asking requests is weird but i rly like ur blog so🚶 Could you do a Finnick Odair x Reader were they meet/actually talk for the first time in that scene where Finnick talks to Katniss in that horrible bare-chested outfit that makes him look like a draft and then he eats pure sugar like ew 💀 after having that weird interaction with her he comes over to us and introduces himself and is all flirty with the Reader and the Reader actually flirts back what totally startles him but hes into it and Katniss is just like ???
Tumblr media
you stood in the tight gown as you brushed the horse's back with your fingers, thinking about how you wished to be out of your 9-inch heels and back home.
your reminiscing was cut short with a scoff so loud you could've mistaken it for the bell chime that was supposed to announce your descent into the capitols viewing
you turn to see two of the most iconic capitol celebrities out there, Katniss and Finnick. you watched as they chit-chatted (more like monotone fighting) when you couldn't help but almost scoff yourself at the atrocious thing Finnick's stylist put him in.
you must've stared too long because his dark green eyes met yours as he popped a sugar cube into his mouth before walking over to you
"Hey Y/n" he says, leaning on the carriage as you're still hung up on how he said your name so smoothly you almost mistaken him from back home
but there was no mistaking Finnick Odair from someone back home. no, not with how he looks, talks, and even that glare in his eyes that almost makes your knees weak.
that's because Finnick flirts to see how weak you are. to see how easy you are, not for sex. but for the game. for the kills.
"Finnick, was it?" you say playfully, about everyone knows who he is, especially someone who has been in the games before
he laughs before grabbing another sugar cube from his pocket and messing with his between his fingertips, his eyes lingered on your body and you couldn't help but feel tense
"last time I saw you, you definitely weren't wearing a dress like this" his eyes darken on you. curse your stylist for getting the tightest dress out there with a slit so high you walked like a stick to not show anything
"cant say the same for you, you seem to always have your tits out" you grin and he couldn't help but laugh at your banter, not everyone plays into him every often
"Hopefully next time you'll be the lucky one" now he's closer, staring you down as a grin slowly meets your lips
"Hopefully we don't have to wait till next time" you couldn't help but feel immediate satisfaction as a shocked look fills his eyes yet that ionic smirk stays plastered on his lips
"See you, ally" he winked before running off, you let out a breath you didn't know you were holding as you look ahead to see Katniss giving you what you can only describe to be a "what the fuck was that" face
you shrugged before spinning on your heels to start the way up on the carriage.
and when you stood with your tribute going at high speeds with people screaming everywhere, you couldn't help but see some dark green eyes staring right at you.
an: ahhhh I missed you guys so much! I've been so busy so i haven't been able to get back into my thg mindset even tho I'm obsessed with it lmaooo. being brain-rotted with thg and just being by myself makes me more quiet and happy and but because of the holidays, it's made me have to be more talkative and hyper almost. I haven't had time alone until his moment and I look back at how I was before with shock and sadness because I want to go back to my bubble :((( you know how when you talk to people you have to pretend you care to be nice so you make up a fake you? that's how I feel right now by myself, and that would be fine if I was sad or mad but I'm so neutrally fake happy it hurts. it'll pass overtime but it's gonna be hard because i have to do it again tomorrow and for the rest of the week ((more family time)) like ahhh i wanna be my old self by myself lmao. anyway!!!!!!!!! Thank you for the request! it makes me so happy you like my blog sm and this was so fun to write!!! mwah ily! <3
Anthony Lockwood was confused.
He was often confused, so that didn’t mean much, but he rarely told people that he didn’t understand what was happening.
Unfortunately his girlfriend could read him like a huge sign in neon lights and block letters on the side of the Fittes building, and within about five seconds of him walking into the kitchen she was asking him what was wrong. “You look confused, Schmoopie. What’s up?” She popped the ‘p’ at the end, perfectly in sync with the teabags she was holding being put into the mugs lined up on the counter.
Anthony cast a glance around the kitchen before leaning in and whispering “Why is Lucy still in her pyjamas?”
“Anthony, we’re the only ones in the kitchen. Why are you whispering, dumbass?”
“I don’t know,” he replied, sighing and leaning back against the nearest chair. “Why is Lucy still in her pyjamas? And where are you going?” Y/n had pulled her boots on while he’d been talking, and now she was heading for the hallway. He followed after her, partly closing the kitchen door behind him.
“Oh, the tea was for you three. I’m just heading out for tea with my mum and Will; they’ve come down for the weekend but we were busy before now. Can you get my coat down please?” Anthony obliged, reaching for a jumper at the same time. When she looked at him in question, he shrugged.
“It’ll be cold out. The wind is still pretty strong and you haven’t got a jumper.” He tugged it over her head, laughing when her head poked through the top with her hair all messed up.
“Why are you giving me your jumper? I’m pretty sure I’ve got one hanging around here.”
“I’m so offended right now,” he said, shaking his head and staggering back. Y/n snorted. “You mean you don’t want to wear the jumper that your loving boyfriend just helped you put on? That I am sacrificing for you?!”
“Shut up,” she laughed, pushing at his chest when he came back towards her and snuck his arms around her waist.
“Anything for you,” he grinned. Somebody behind him groaned, and when Anthony turned his head he caught sight of George at the bottom of the stairs.
“Can you please go one day without being all lovey-dovey with each other? I would rather not throw up today.” He slumped down the final step, scratching at his side and making his shirt ride up to expose his very trouser-less legs. Disappearing into the kitchen, Anthony frowned after his friend.
Why was nobody ready for work other than him? And how come Holly wasn’t here yet? He supposed they could make do without Y/n (although he would much rather that she stayed home with him all day), but did nobody seem to understand that they were a company who worked every day of the week?! “…Anthony? You alright?”
“Why is no one dressed?!” He lifted his arms to gesture wildly in the air. “It’s ten in the morning and George has only just come downstairs, Holly isn’t here, Lucy’s in her pyjamas still - am I missing something?” He huffed in frustration, arms flopping back to his sides. They were a prestigious company, and nobody would believe that if they saw George in his half-dressed state with jam on his shirt.
“Ant, you do know… that it’s a bank holiday today, right?” Y/n was trying not to laugh, but a faint smile was playing on her lips.
“What?”
“It’s the anniversary of Fittes and Rotwell finishing their first successful case? Government declared it a public holiday a few years ago? And you decided not long after that we would have the holiday off every year? Is this ringing any bells?” Her smile had grown now, and Anthony felt his cheeks grow warm from embarrassment.
“Oh.”
“Yeah. Well, thank you for the jumper, Schmoopie!” She was far too cheery about this, and Anthony pursed his lips in response.
“Piss off,” he grumbled, not really meaning it. She knew he was stewing like his tea currently was (ah, he should go and sort his tea out), so she pressed a small kiss to the end of his nose and turned for the front door. Anthony reached out, grabbing her hand and pulling her back in. “You missed,” he said, planting a kiss on her mouth.
“Better?”
“Better. Say hi to your Mum and Will for me.”
“I will. Enjoy your day off, Ant.” She stepped out of his embrace and unlocked the front door, blowing him a last kiss before she was gone.
“Stupid bank holidays. Why didn’t we put that in the calendar?” He shuffled back towards the kitchen for his tea just in time for George to appear with the calendar in his hands, showing off a very large red circle around today’s date and the words ‘DAY OFF’ in the middle.
“Idiot,” said George, shoving the calendar at his friend. “Your tea’s looking a bit stewed, by the way. Oh, and we ran out of pulpy orange juice.” He didn’t seem too bothered about the fact that he’d just ruined Anthony’s morning by announcing there was no juice left, and he schlepped back up the stairs with a tea mug in one hand and a plate of toast in the other.
Chapter 10
-
“Beltane magick here we sing
Chant the rune and dance the ring
Joy and blessing shall it bring
Let the sleeper awake!”
― Doreene Valiente, Beltane Chant
-
The village green was a hive of activity, preparations for the May Day celebration in full swing.
Booths, tents and stalls lined the streets, vendors setting up their wares and stocking up for the large crowds expected for the two-day celebration. An abundance of flowers, real and fake, decorated the whole of the village’s heart, garlands and wreaths attached to every available surface, every shop window sporting bright floral displays.
The maypole had been raised at the back of the green, its brightly colored ribbons fluttering in the warm breeze. The volunteers performing this year were gathered off to the side taking a break from their practice, you and Fiona among them.
The two of you had been roped into volunteering, so you both had to learn the performances from scratch. Fi especially was struggling with the interweaving moves, cursing under her breath every time she made a misstep.
“If I’d known it was goin’ t’be this big of a pain in me arse, I would’a hid in the loo when I saw Margie comin’,” she groused, wiping a forearm across her brow. She turned up her bottled water and took a large gulp as she glared at Margie Bartleby, proud owner of the Tea Room and the entertainment director of the festivities this year. “All tha’ woman needs is a bloody whip t’crack over our heads.”
You sniffed in amusement, not bothering to comment. You knew Fi was just venting her frustration and didn’t mean a word of what she said. You and she both adored the older woman, though you had to admit that Margie could be a right task master when she wanted to be.
You sipped at your water as you pulled your cell from your back pocket to check your notifications, drifting under the shade of a tent to see the screen better. You were hoping to see a message from Riley, but you were again disappointed.
He’d been gone since the last week of March, only a week and half after you had moved in with him. There had been no word from him save for a single text around mid-April to tell you if all went according to plan, he might be home by the end of the month. You had really been hoping he would make it back in time for the May Day celebration, but it didn't look like that was going to happen. He always seemed to be deployed during holidays.
“Still no word?” Fi asked, joining you.
You sighed and slipped the phone back in your pocket. “No.”
She nudged your shoulder. “Maybe ye’ll get a May Day miracle an’ he’ll show up dressed like Jack o' the Green.” Her grin turned lewd. “Can’t ya just picture it? Riley wearin’ nothin’ but a patch o’ moss over his dangly bits with oak leaves stuck all in his mask?”
“Fi-ona!” Heat crept up your neck to your cheeks, yet the image she created popped unbidden into your head.
Your face grew hotter as you imagined him dressed as Fi had described, the mental pictures in your head far from chaste. Riley was built like a Norse god, and even with the mask he earned his fair share of appreciative glances. You couldn't help but look, too; you were his friend, but that didn't make you immune to him.
When you heard Fi laughing at you, you blinked out of your daydream and narrowed your eyes. “Shut up,” you hissed at her, but couldn’t hide your wry smirk.
“Come along, lovies! Break's over!” Margie called to the group. “Let’s get back to it. We need to practice the bonfire procession and dance next!”
Fiona groaned, scowling. “God, I’ll be glad when we’re done with this. Never again,” she vowed as the two of you trudged back out to the green together.
Simon sat back in his seat, eyes focused out the window of the plane, half-listening to Soap and Gaz arguing about how they were going to spend their first night on leave. His cell phone was in his hand, your last text open. It was an image of the green decorated for May Day.
“Oi, Ghost! Ya should come with us t'night. We’re goin’ to that new pub in Hereford,” Gaz invited.
Simon slanted a glance his way, dark eyes glinting inside his skull mask. “Can’t. Got plans.”
“Ah, c’mon, mate. Readin' in your bunk isn’t plans,” Gaz replied, scoffing.
“Did ye ferget?” Soap spoke up, a mischievous smirk on his face as he bumped the other sergeant's arm. “Ghost has t’get’ home t’see his doll dance. Ain't tha' right, LT?”
Simon scowled at him. The nosy bastard had overheard him tell Price about you performing in the May Day festival, after the captain had asked him how "his doll" was doing. So, of course, Johnny hadn’t shut up about it since, pestering him for intel about his ‘wee doll’.
“Oh, that’s right,” Gaz drawled, his smile spreading wide. “Maybe we should go home with Ghost, then. You can introduce us to your doll.”
“Not happenin',” Simon gruffed. “Ya lot ain’t gettin’ anywhere near ‘er.”
Soap chuckled, puffing out his chest. “Worried I’ll nick yer lass, LT?” He smoothed his hand over his mohawk, flexing his bicep with a cheeky grin. “Canna blame ye. There’s a lot here t’tempt her away,” he teased, making his pecs jump beneath his tight tee. Gaz cackled.
Simon stuck his phone back in his pocket and crossed his arms over his chest, tipping his chin down at the sergeant. “Ain't worried. Dee knows a wanker when she sees one."
"Oh-ho!" Soap crowed. "So, it's Dee, is it? Slipped up an' said her name, LT." He winked at Gaz as Simon muttered a curse. "Dee an' Johnny. Got a nice ring to it, aye?"
“Enough, lads,” Price called from behind his laptop, not even bothering to look up. The two immediately shut their gobs.
As soon as the plane touched down, Simon was up and heading down the ramp as it lowered. Grinning like a devil, Soap was ready to head after him when Price grabbed him by the back of his tac vest and hauled him back.
“Bloody hell, lad, give it a rest,” he uttered lowly.
Gaz came abreast of them and leaned into whisper, “We just wanna know about her, Cap. I mean— it's Ghost. Kinda hard to imagine him havin' a bird. Has he told ya anything about her? Have ya seen a picture of her?"
Price scrubbed at his beard. “Never met the lass. Ya lads know he likes to keep his personal life private. Now, both of ya, leave it alone.”
“Canna believe yer no' a wee bit curious, sir,” Soap persisted. “Would ye no' like t’meet the lass tha’ caught the Ghost?”
Price wouldn’t lie and say he wasn’t curious, but more than anything, he was just glad to see his lieutenant at ease, for a change. He was still a right broody cunt, but his attitude had definitely improved. “Lads, as long as she makes him happy, that’s all I care 'bout. Now, mind yer bloody business an' leave him alone, yeah?”
“Think he’d show us a picture of her if we asked nice?” Soap wondered aloud, undeterred. "I bet she's a right bonnie lass, aye? Have t'be t'get the LT all hot an' bothered." He waggled his eyebrows.
Price dragged a hand over his face and groaned.
Simon ended up parking behind the Dog when he finally made into to the village. Coming through the alley, he could see the crowd milling about the green and vendor booths, the smell of fried food and sweets wafting down the ginnel on the breeze. His stomach growled and he cursed himself for not eating something before leaving the base, but he'd been in a hurry to get home.
He usually stayed on base if he wasn't deployed when events like this were going on in Banfield. He hated dealing with the extra traffic and large crowds that descended on the village, but he could suck it up and deal with it just this once, since it was for you.
Apparently, he'd made it back just in time. Most of the crowd had gathered near the back of the green around the maypole, Margie's familiar voice loud and clear over the PA system as she announced that the maypole dance was about to begin.
Simon pressed through the throng of people, ignoring the looks and startled gasps as they shuffled out of his way. His eyes scanned over the dancers, searching for you, his eyes going a little wide when he spotted you standing with your back to him.
He didn't know what he'd been expecting, but he felt like he'd been poleaxed, his dazed eyes roving over your figure. You were dressed like the other dancers, wearing a pastel satin undress covered in layers of wispy, see-through tulle, but the underdress clung to your breasts and hips, the swell of your bum accentuated by the slippery material. When you shifted your weight to pose in the starting position, a split in the underdress revealed the length of your thigh, the layered tulle separating to expose it.
Simon's mouth fell open under his surgical mask, eyes avid as the music began to play. He watched with rapt attention as you skipped and dipped and twirled, weaving in and out with the other dancers to braid the colored ribbons around the pole. Your hair had been left loose, a crown of flowers on your head, makeup done to give your features an ethereal cast. You looked like a fairy, flitting around, he mused. A really curvaceous, sultry, sexy fairy...
A familiar feeling tingled low in his abdomen and the front of jeans were suddenly too tight. He shook his head, grunting at his base reaction, but now that he'd seen you this way, he knew there was no denying it. You were stunning, the prettiest bird he'd ever seen. His pretty doll. Possessive pride welled up in his chest, straightening his spine and lifting his chin. That was his beautiful doll out there dancing; his.
When the dance ended, all the performers took a bow and then the crowd surrounded them. Simon hung back, waiting, wanting to see your expression when you finally spotted him.
So worth the wait.
It was Fiona that saw him first, nudging your shoulder and whispering at your ear as she pointed him out. The slight frown of confusion on your face transformed into a look of joyous surprise, your smile wide and beaming as you rushed to meet him, crying out, "Oh, my God! Ri!" as you leapt up to wrap your arms around his neck in a tight hug.
It stunned him at first, being greeted that way. Anyone else would have found themselves thrown to the ground with a knee in their back, but you? You he caught up in his arms and held on tight, breathing you in as his hands molded to your back and waist like he had done this a thousand times. It was instinctive and felt so right.
You pulled back to gaze into his eyes, your smile becoming something softer, more intimate. "I'm so glad you made it, Ri. Can't believe you're finally home. I've missed you."
His chest went tight, a pleased flush warming his face. He pressed his forehead to yours. "Missed ya, too, doll. 'S good t'be home."
He had a sudden, intense urge to pull down his mask and kiss you. His fingers twitched on your back, muscles spasming in his arms. He couldn't recall the last time he'd kissed a woman on the lips, but damn if he wasn't gaggin' to bloody do it now. From the soft, hazy look in your eyes, he didn't think you would mind it, either, which only made the temptation worse.
You both turned your heads, startled, when Fiona giggled. She was already lowering her cellphone to look at the pic she had just taken. Simon tensed, his first instinct being to bark at her to delete the photo, but then another idea popped into his head.
He lowered you to the ground, stepping behind you before planting his hands firmly on your hips and pulling you back against his chest. "Take another one, Fi. Want t'send one t'my team."
She dutifully took the picture, smiling as she stepped forward to show you both how well it had turned out. "That one's a keeper."
Simon stared down at the picture, liking the way the two of you looked together. A rush of heat coursed through his veins at the sight of his hands on your hips, your hands covering his. He glanced over at your face as you studied the photo, and he could only describe your expression as incandescent; you were bloody glowing.
His arm snaked around your waist, pulling you into his side as his eyes met yours. "Yeah," he murmured. "Definitely a keeper."
Tumblr media
-
Simon ended up with dozens of photos saved on his phone by the time the festival was over. His favorite was the one Fiona had first taken, the one where he was holding you up in his arms, your heads together. He set that one as his screensaver.
However, the one he viewed the most was the one he took at the bonfire the last night of the festival.
He took it during the bonfire dance, you and the other dancers circling the high flames as you swayed and undulated in a jaw-dropping, frenzied dance that had wrecked his world. His heart had been beating as hard as the drums, his eyes fixated on you with a predatory intensity.
Then you had looked at him.
You had seen him in the crowd, a teasing, open-mouthed smile directed his way as your arms lifted over your head and you rolled your hips in a move that punched the air out of his lungs. He had lifted his phone and snapped the photo, capturing the moment.
He captured your sultry smile, that hooded gaze that was meant just for him. Your body's curves stood out in stark relief against the dark, your silken skin aglow from the flames. Every time he looked at it, he ended up in the loo with his cock in his hand, choking back his groans as he desperately fisted himself to completion.
It was bloody torture watching you disappear into your own bedroom later that night, every cell of his body on fire with the need to follow you. He didn't, but he wanted to. It was the fear of losing you that finally had him shuffling off to his own room, settling for your photo and his calloused hand.
It was on Sunday afternoon that he got a notification that the team was in their private group chat. You and Fi were gone to the shops, and he was sitting on the patio, drinking a Stella and enjoying the garden. Might as well join in, he thought; he had nothing better to do at the moment.
As soon as he entered the chat, Soap and Gaz started asking for details about the festival and, of course, you. Feeling a bit sadistic, the first photos he shared were of the green, the bonfire, the pub.
[SOAP]: Come on LT. U ken what we want! Show us a pic of ur doll. 😏 [GHOST]: No [GAZ]: Pleeeeaaaase!!! 🙏🏿🥺 [PRICE]: Bloody hell. Ignore them, lad. [GAZ]: We just want to see her Cap... campfire ㅡ gyuvin
gyuvin x gn!reader
words : 1197
warnings : none
genre : fluff
Tumblr media
the sun was down and your only source of light was the moon and the campfire in front of you. it was the holidays, and you and your friends decided to go camping for a few days. this night was a bit colder than the previous ones but your friends still wanted to go for a dip in the lake nearby, leaving you by yourself in front of the fire.
it didn't bother you, you needed some calm time after the hectic day. you guys went hiking early in the morning, while the weather was still fresh. in the afternoon, you went grocery shopping in a town nearby with your friend gyuvin, and you cooked with him for everyone in your friend group.
you were sitting on an old tree trunk, using it as a bench. the hood of your sweatshirt was on your head, and you pulled the strings of it, tightening it around your face. absent-mindedly, while you were lost in your thoughts, you made some knots with the strings of the hood that will probably hard to undo later. but it was not a major issue for you at the moment. you were thinking about gyuvin.
you noticed how he stayed with you more than usual during these holidays. you two were close, it was nothing weird that he spent time alone with you. but you felt like it was different. everytime you would say that you where going to do something, like the grocery shopping earlier in the day, he would say he's coming with you. same with the cooking. plus, his attitude toward you was more playful than usual. you also noticed the way his touch lingered on you every time his hand brushed against your body.
you never saw gyuvin as more than a friend. but, strangely, your heart started to race when your bodies were too close, or when he would look at you with a different smile than usual. when you walked next to him, you couldn't stop yourself from imagining gyuvin holding your hand. you imagined him telling you he loved you. maybe you even wished his arms were around you right now, because the campfire wasn't enough to warm you up. you hid your face in your hands, embarassed at the thought.
"what's gotten into me?" you sighed. when you took your hands off your face, you didn't expect to find gyuvin sitting on the ground in front of you. letting a high-pitched shout, you almost fell off the tree trunk you were sitting on. gyuvin caught your shoulders to prevent you from falling, laughing at you.
"calm down, it's just me" said gyuvin.
"i didn't expect you to pop in front of me suddenly..."
"you're such a wimp" he replied, gaining a hit on his arm by you.
"why you're here? aren't you swimming with the others?" you asked.
"they are CRAZY. the water is too cold so i decided to come back."
you watched how the wet locks were falling on his forehead. gyuvin was still shirtless, wearing only his swimming shorts and a zip hoodie that he probably put on after going out of the water. your hands went to his hood to put it on his head.
"you'll end up sick if you don't cover your head." you told him. when you wanted to take your hands off, he grabbed your wrists and held them to put your hands around his shoulders. you looked at him in confusion. "your hands are warm, i'm just using them to warm up", he explained.
you simply nodded. gyuvin eyes went to your own hood, noticing how you tangled the strings in an enormous knot of knots.
"how are you gonna detangle this?"
"oh? this should be easy, look."
you took your hands off his shoulder and he watch you as you tried to detangle the strings of your hood. you realized the knots were really tight, and gyuvin mocked you for not successing in undoing it.
"let me do it."
gyuvin came closer to you, still sitting on the ground in front of you. his hands went to the strings, and he detangled the knots little by little. while his eyes were focused on his mission, you couldn't help but admire his features. gyuvin didn't even realize how his face went closer to yours as he was still undoing the knots. he didn't know that another knot was forming itself, this one in your tummy as the butterflies started to make their appearance.
"and... it's done!" finally said gyuvin, leaving the strings of your hoodie. your eyes crossed and little by little, the proud smile he had on the face disappeared. now, he was the one admiring you, while you didn't dare to look away or pull apart from him.
"you know y/n..."
"hm?"
"i think i never told you that. but you look stunning."
you couldn't help but blush at his words, a blissful laugh escaping your lips.
"you're kidding me, right?" you replied, not believing it.
"why would i? i'm serious. you're beautiful. okay, i know it's sounds weird when i say it, but for real, i mean it."
you felt your heart fluttering, unable to find an answer to the compliment. hesitantly, your hands went under his hood, finding their place on the back of his neck. you saw his eyes going to your lips, and it gave you the push you needed to bring them closer to his.
the tip of your nose brushed against his. gyuvin felt his heart racing, because he didn't expect things to go this way. he had a crush on you for a while now, and he was planning on asking you out after the holidays. he never planned on this situation to happen. still, despite the stress, gyuvin was dying to kiss you. he couldn't stand how his body was desperate to feel yours, how it felt frustrating to have his lips so close to yours and not kissing you. he wanted to make you feel how he loved you, without saying it out loud because he knew it was too early for this.
one last time, he looked into your eyes, and he felt like you two were on the same page. that's why he finally closed the distance between you and pressed his lips on yours. he couldn't explain the sensation in his chest when he felt your fingers going through his wet hair, while you kissed him back. you were soft against him, like your lips were caressing his.
out of breath, you two pulled apart, and rosy cheeks were shared. gyuvin wanted to capture your lips once again, but, to his despair, the noise of his friends coming back caught your attention. he was left wanting more, but you gave him a look that reassured him. a look that was saying you felt the same, and he couldn't stop thinking about the next time he will meet you like this.
Hindsight's Always 19/84 - Pt 1
Single Dad Eddie / Reader AU
Tumblr media
You left Hawkins in 1984. You had no intentions of ever coming back. But life had other plans. You grew sick of the fake people and conversations, the classism and nauseating academic personalities of your past life. You craved life with its highs and lows, its triumphs and heartbreak over the beige monotony of white-collar progress. Now divorced and happy to be, you move back home. You run into an old friend, Eddie Munson. He was a memory that had haunted you for years. You haven't been the only one whose life has changed drastically. He's working two jobs and taking care of his son alone. You came back to Hawkins to find a new path, but you're faced with your younger self instead. Will you finally give her the answers she's always needed? Are you brave enough to say the things you couldn't before you left? With the growing connection between two broken adults, it looks like you never should've left.
You know what they say, Hindsight's always 20/20.
You walked down the stairs from your apartment onto the street. The sunset painted the town in nostalgia. Muted colors like looking back into your memories surrounded you. It all felt different and somehow exactly the same. You’d been back for about a month now. But with the exception of holidays, you haven't spent any time in Hawkins for over a decade. You didn’t even go to your 10-year high school reunion. You’d had no expectations of coming back here. Certainly not without an exit date firmly scheduled prior. But life is funny that way. You never expect to get divorced when you get married. You never expect to quit what once was your dream job. You never expect to move back to your hometown in some potentially pathetic, you hadn't decided yet, attempt to find yourself. Along with a lot of other lessons you were finally learning, expecting the unexpected was one being driven into your life hard.
So when you wandered the towns Main Street and saw the old record store you hadn't expected, but maybe you should have, the man standing behind the counter to be the boy who helped form most of those happy memories you’d come back home to revisit.
“We close in like 5 minutes. I can check you out if you know what you want but at 9 you’re getting kicked out.” He didn’t look up from the book of numbers he was staring at on the checkout desk.
“Oh shit. I didn’t look at your hours on the door. Sorry. I’ll leave.” You rush out, not even looking at the guy, his hair hiding his face as he leaned on the counter. You’d barely taken in the familiar space before feeling like a burden.
But then you hear your name called to your back as your hand sits on the door handle. That voice. You hadn’t heard your name said like that in so long. Not just from him but in a way that made it sound like someone was genuinely happy to see you.
“Eddie?” It leaves your slightly parted lips before you even verify the owner of the now much deeper, voice. It’s still cracked and popped when you heard it last. A young man with his training wheels freshly off was now grown before you. He looked so different. And just like the town… somehow exactly the same.
“Holy shit it is you!” his face lit up, it was a wonderful sight. Eddie was always a big emoter, being absolute shit at hiding how he felt on his face. And right now he was happy to see you. Your face was a bit more hesitant, only for the heavy smack of memories you were drowning in as you shared a silent smile, eyes very boldly meeting one another's.
“It’s me.” you held out your hands in a jazzy presentation of yourself that made him laugh.
“What are you doing here? Oh shit, is everyone okay?” His face went from curious to concerned in a flash.
“Oh yeah, the family’s fine.” you finally stepped forward and dismissed his concern with a wave of your hand. “I moved back.” he could see the way your jaw tensed when you said it. Last he’d heard you were married and working some white-collar job and doing just fine. He certainly hadn’t expected you to walk into his shop on a random Tuesday. He wanted to ask a hundred questions that had all poured into his brain but withheld.
“How long have you been back?” he got away with looking at your hands, checking for a wedding band as they ran through your hair nervously. There wasn’t one. That gave him plenty of answers to sate his intrusive tendencies. Little did he know you’d already looked at his ring finger to see the same.
“A few weeks. Not long. Just got settled into the apartment on 3rd street. Pure luck it opened up when I was looking.”
“An apartment?” he had a playful smile as he quirked his brow. “Would’ve pinned you for a house sorta girl.”
“Needed a change.” you wrinkled your nose, vague answers meant you weren’t ready to talk about it. Which he understood.
“I heard they re-did those recently.”
“Yeah, it’s way nicer than I expected. Overlooks the park which is very cute. And is a hell of a lot cheaper than my mortgage was.” a genuine smile graced your face, and the sense of relief wasn’t missed by him in your voice.
“Tell me about it.” he groaned and slapped the open book in front of him.
“Oh, doing the books?” you leaned forward curiously, intimately familiar with the layout of the paper before him. “Wait. Why are you doing the accounting?” you didn’t hide the confusion on your face as you looked back up at a smirking Eddie. His hair was the same save for the lack of bangs, a change with the times. He had a past 5 o clock shadow and light circles under his eyes. You knew you also had signs of wear and age on your face.
“Because I own the place?” he tilted his head to the side and chuckled. “You don’t have to look SO surprised.” he then broke into a laugh.
“Sorry! I just. Wow.” you shook your head.
“Give me a little credit. I’ve grown up since you last knew me.” a playful defensiveness was apparent in his shaking curls as he challenged your slack jaw at the news.
“I’m sure you have. Sorry. I didn’t mean to -”
“Shut up. I’m fucking with you.” the deepness of his voice bloomed out of a laughing chest. “I do own it but I agree I didn’t scream responsible business owner at 18.” he grinned. “I started working here shortly after you left and ten years later Mr. Orison wanted to retire and well…” he motioned to the room then let his arms slap to his sides.
“Good for you. Seriously. Running a business is fucking hard. People don’t realize it.”
“Yeah neither did I when I bought it.” he bent over and ran his hand through his hair, elbows to the countertop.
“I used to crunch numbers all day for a living so I get it. I’ll leave you to it. It’s past 9 anyway, I think you’re supposed to kick me out.” you smiled brightly, and you felt the strain in your cheeks. It’d been a long, long time since you’d smiled so big.
“You get to be an exception to the rule. You can wander around if you want. I don’t care.”
“No, no. I know you need to focus. I’ll get out of your hair.” you take a few steps back. “I could come back when you aren’t busy?” you offered, a raise of one shoulder to your chin.
“Yeah! Yes.” he cleared his throat and nodded enthusiastically, spooling out some blank receipt paper. “Since you’re back-back we should catch up.” he dabbed the pen to his tongue to get it to work, and a few shakes and grunts later he was writing his number down. “And I don’t mean in that fake reunion - oh my god let’s get coffee sometime kinda way.” he looked up, hang dancing over his papers as a fuller face than you recalled smiled at you.
“Glad we’re on the same page. I need some friends. Not gonna lie.” you chuckle nervously and give a purposely strained smile.
“Lucky for you, we are built-in friends.” he holds out the paper as you step back toward him.
“Good,” you say softly, ripping part of the paper and writing down your own information. “You’re busier than me right now so feel free to call me whenever and we can go not get coffee.” you joke and he accepts it heartily.
“You drink?”
“Not as well as I used to.” you laugh.
“That’sthefuckintruth.” he grumbled. “I’ll hit you up and we’ll go to the old Hideout. We’ll be two old schmo’s reminiscing just like the people we used to make fun of.”
“Sounds perfect.” the relief of something casual and easy flooded you. There was no pretentious pretext, no formalwear to buy, or people to schmooze. Beers, a dive bar, and an old friend sounded close to heaven after the way you’d spent the last decade. “See ya soon.” you wiggle your fingers in a wave before Eddie watches you walk down the street and out of sight, locking the door behind you.
“Well, shit.” he didn’t have to hide his smile now, chuckling to himself, rubbing his face as he walked back to the counter. “She’s back.” he talked to himself, no one else was around, and being alone was a rarity for him these days. He gathered up his books and looked at the mirror in the hall on the way to the back office. “And single,” he said to his reflection before looking over it and frowning at the sight. He looked fucking tired. In all fairness he was. “And you’re a struggling single dad with two jobs.” he sighed and looked away from the mirror. A reality check he needed was cashed to himself. He wasn’t exactly relationship material at the moment with barely any time for himself let alone dating someone. You were used to money and the city and some fancy-pants professor was your ex-husband. What’s a small-town mechanic with a sob story, a kid, and a treading water business going to offer you? He groaned, his annoyance clear on his face as he plopped into the old creaky leather chair. Little did he know, that craving a slice of real life, something raw and passionate, full of imperfections was exactly why you’d left your husband and old life behind. He had more to offer than old romantic nostalgia. He just didn’t know it yet.
Eddie arrived at the trailer he was pleased to call home. A double wide with a room for him and his son and for Wayne when he wanted to stay over. He didn’t live far from his uncle and he didn’t want to be away from him, truth be told. He’d landscaped the place, out in the field away from the clusters of other trailers, a little fence, and a bricked-in foundation. He was proud of what he’d been able to create for his little family.
Eddie was happy to admit now that the calling from his kid as soon as he noticed him walking into the door made every bit of worry fade away for a few minutes.
“Daddy!” a very active toddler ran and stumbled toward him, falling and ignoring the failure to get swept up in his dad's arms.
“Hey little man!” he tossed him into the air, a favorite pastime of his since he was tiny. “I see we had spaghetti for dinner.” Eddie laughed, grabbing a noddle from his shirt and eating it noisily to make him laugh.
“He’s as stubborn as you.” Wayne chuckled, a grunt as he raised from the couch. “Refused anything else. Remember when you’d only eat pickles and ranch with butter noodles for dinner for a while?”
“It’s still good.” Eddie grinned, shifting the kid to his hip.
“Your taste has always been questionable.” Wayne teased. It was always with love.
“It’s a point of pride.” Eddie smiled and shoved a fork into the pot of noodles left on the stove.
“We were about to get settled for bed. Someone had a long nap today and messed up his routine.”
“Did not!” a very adamant and incorrect claim came from the small version of Eddie.
“Terrible two’s.” Wayne glared and wagged his finger as he hunched toward the kid before grabbing his side to tickle him and make him scream.
“How about we go play sea monster?” Eddie suggested, the kid's eyes lighting up.
“YEAH!” his little fists clenched.
“You handle the bath I’ll clean up.” Wayne pats his adopted son’s arm.
Eddie was elbow-deep in bubbles, soap in his mouth, and water in his eyes as his boy thrashed in the water. A rouge rubber dinosaur bonked Eddie in the head.
“Asteroid!” he shouted, slapping Eddie with a wet ball in the face before slapping his hands into the water full of floating dinosaurs.
“I thought we were playing sea monsters?” Eddie asked, a washcloth rubbing behind his son's ears.
“Monster rock! Gahhh!” the little gremlin growled and slapped the ball down again.
“Ya know what? Fair.” Eddie nodded, a resigned purse of his lips as he scrubbed away at his slippery like an eel, arms. “You remember this one’s name?” he picked up a plastic dinosaur.
“Robert!” Eddie bent his head down and laughed, soaping the boy's hair into a little mohawk.
“He’s called a T Rex. Remember their science names?”
“Robert! Ahhh!” he slapped the toy out of Edie’s hand as he kept laughing. He was a bit biased but he thought his kid could be the funniest person to ever exist. He was aware that him having his DNA did make the chances of them having a similar sense of humor high but… he could make Eddie laugh harder than anyone else.
“So we’re choosing chaos over learning tonight.” Eddie nodded, accepting that his attempts to be a good dad who taught his kid things at every available opportunity were going to fall onto bubble covered ears tonight.
“Chay ossssss” he made a grumpy face, doing his attempts at a metal scream, having heard the word growled many times in Eddie’s music choices.
“Oh, it’s gonna be that kinda night, huh?” Eddie perked up. “You wanna sing Metallica?” He asked, soaked hands slapping out a beat on the side of the tub.
“BUM BUM BUM!” he banged his little head, mimicking his father.
“Sanitarium!” Eddie had never held back with his music and his little man. He seemed to love it.
“Leave me be!” he clapped.
“Sanitarium!”
“LEAVE ME ‘LONE!” his little chin jutted up as he declared it to the ceiling with the rage only a small child could deliver.
Sure Eddie’s parenting wasn’t exactly orthodox. But then again who in their right mind would’ve expected it to be?
After a very messy round of monsters in the tub, rubber toys are everywhere, and towels and washcloths are strewn and slapped to the plastic walls of the shower tub. Bubbles floated and faded, clumps in Eddie’s hair. He wrangled his son into his pajamas, reading him to sleep with Lord of the Rings, doing the voices, and living his DM memories in his performance. Soon he was sound asleep, worn out and content. Eddie dimmed the light, ruffling the dark soft curls that resembled his own before a kiss on his baby lotion-smelling cheek.
He came into the kitchen with a loud yawn, stretching before hitting the fridge for a beer.
“He had a good day today.” Wayne nodded, sitting at the kitchen table.
“Good.” Eddie sighed with a sip.
“How about my other baby? What day did he have?” Wayne smirked, sipping his mug of coffee.
“You’ll never guess who’s back in town.” Eddie shoved a fork full of leftover spaghetti in his mouth that Wayne had set out for him.
“Rude to leave me hangin’.”
“Remember that girl I used to run around with back in high school?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Seriously? You didn’t need any other information?” Eddie laughed, mouth full of spaghetti.
“No offense son, but you weren’t exactly surrounded by girls back then.”
“Harsh.” Eddie grinned. “But true.” he nodded. “She’s back in town.” he muffled out in bites.
“Her folks okay? I always liked ‘em I’d hate to hear something bad happened to ‘em.”
“That’s what I asked her.” Eddie smiled, being made more aware of Wayne’s influence on him every day since his son was born. “She said her family’s fine.”
“Oh, you talked to her?” Wayne said impressed.
“Walked right into the shop.” Eddie held out a hand in a surprised shrug.
“She married who? A teacher?”
“Professor of English.” Eddie rolled his eyes. “But!” Eddie’s eyes lit up in a way Wayne hadn’t seen in a long while. “She wasn’t wearing a wedding ring.”
“So you looked, huh?”
“I’m no homewrecker.” Wayne’s shoulder shook with a laugh at Eddie’s defensiveness.
“Since when?” he smirked.
“She didn’t say anything. Just said she moved back. But we swapped numbers and she wants to catch up.”
“Well, that couldn’t have gone any better for you could it?” Wayne said supportively. He’d always liked you. You were a bit wild, sure, but so was Edddie and he knew he was still a good kid.
“I mean it could have.” Eddie gave a little snicker and his cheeks turned a bit pink as Wayne snorted and threw a napkin at him.
“What’d she think of you? Business owner, two jobs, a kid. Big difference from when she knew you last.”
“She was surprised by the business. But that’s all I shared.”
“Ed…” Wayne chastised him.
“I know. I’ll tell her, obviously, I just didn’t wanna do that thing I do where I start talking and don’t stop. And next thing I know I’ve told her too much and she’s backing away.”
“Did she have any kids?”
“Don’t know. She didn’t say anything either. I don’t remember hearing that she did.” Eddie shrugged, shoveling the rest of the food into his mouth, bowl tilted up.
“Odd for a woman her age to not have a kid.” Wayne’s brow creased.
“C’mon Wayne. You’re more progressive than that.” Eddie grumbled.
“You know I’m all for people making their own choices, but she was married for a long time. Call me curious.”
“I’ll tell you everything when I talk to her.”
“When’s that gonna be?”
“When can you babysit again?” He smirked.
You were surprised but pleasantly that it took Eddie only two days to call you. You suppose he wasn’t lying about wanting to be friends again. Why wouldn’t he? You were thick as thieves in your teens. You got on like a house fire when you were together. You were hoping that you hadn’t changed so much that he’d find you boring now. You were still in the midst of figuring out who you actually were and how much beige you had unwillingly absorbed from your previous life path. Eddie was still spunky and lively with his alternative clothes and hair, free flow of swears as sentence enhancers without care behind it, and a heart that seemed to still be pinned to his sleeve. You envied that. You hoped it rubbed off on you.
You wore an outfit your ex-husband would hate out to the bar that evening. You’d been making a habit of doing things he hated. It was your new favorite pastime.
So it meant that much more when Edie greeted you with his full attention, pulling out a chair and giving you a charming smile that people took classes to learn how to do in the city. While he was naturally gifted and wholesome and genuine.
“Hopefully it’s okay for me to say this. If not- feel free to twist my ear- but you look really pretty tonight.” It was the wholesome version of what he was thinking. The maxi skirt was made out of some flimsy material that his fingertips itched to touch. It had some Asian-inspired dragons on the bottom, and a tank top matching the color of the trim of the skirt was paired with it. Some chunky sandals that made you almost as tall as him were hidden under the skirt. Little maroon-painted toes peeped out as you sat. He noticed they match your nails and lipstick. You hadn’t been so put together when you were younger. Jeans, the same beat-up sneakers, and a t-shirt were the rotation of choice. You never presented as particularly feminine, not like this anyway. He thought you looked great, but it made him wonder what else had changed.
“Thanks. I really liked this outfit.” Your smile was soft and sweet as you accepted his chivalry of pushing your chair in.
“The dragons are badass.” He gave an approving nod as he sat across from you.
“They’re really trendy right now.”
“Trendy?” He smirked.
“There’s currently an uptick of Asian-inspired ornamental detail right in teen fashion design. related to the rise in popularity of Japanese influence in youth counter-culture.” Eddie blinked a bit befuddled at the sentence that came out of your mouth. You could see it in his very readable face. You’d lost him. You wore the same look around your ex’s colleagues as they discussed the literature of old white men like it was written by God. you’d always been lost and you hated that you’d just done the same to Eddie. “Sorry.” You wrinkle your nose, frowning and Eddie leans in to give you an apologetic look. “We’re gonna be friends right?” Not the smoothest starting point but it’s what came out.
“Uhm. Yeah? I hoped so.” His eyes squinted, uncertain.
“Then I’ll start with being as transparent as possible with you.” You splayed your hands out on the tabletop. “I’m used to talking to people that demand that you constantly impress them with intelligence. It’s awful and I fucking hated it.” Eddie cracked a smile as he watched your face start to give over to emotion. “It’s a habit to say things in a way that’s unnecessary and academic sounding instead of talking like a normal person. I’m trying to break the habit. So sorry if I sound like I have my head up my ass when I talk sometimes.” Eddie was still for a moment, meeting your tired eyes before laughing.
“You did sound very smart.” He consoled you.
“Thank you. I hate sounding elitist. you don’t need to know how to cite references to be smart.”
“I don’t even know what that means.” He gave you a cheesy grin.
“Perfect. You’re exactly who I wanna talk to then.” You reached out to touch his hand before withdrawing it. “I should’ve said yes, dragons are badass. Having them on a skirt makes me feel cool.” You chuckled and tucked your hair behind your ear nervously.
“You still into that stuff? Fantasy? Dragons and Knights and Damsels?”
“I’ve always liked the aesthetic. I haven’t read much since I left here.”
“That’s a shame. You used to read all the time. I still do.”
“I started to hate it after I married someone who did nothing but read. And base their entire existence on it. Sucks all the fun out of it. He was very good at doing that with anything.”
“So… ex… husband then?” He boldly asked, motioning a finger to your naked ring finger.
“Very much ex. Excommunicated I wish.” You smiled. “Exterminated. Expelled. Ex…plodded.” You laughed.
“That what brought you back here?”
“Is it that obvious? I’m just some cliche of a woman now. Coming back home to find herself after leaving a bad man.” You put the back of your hand to your forehead playfully.
“Nothing wrong with leaving a bad relationship.”
“Thanks.” You say quietly. “So now you know I left my old life and moved back here. What’s your story?”
“I’ve been up to plenty.” He turned to laugh nervously. “You started with the biggest thing so-“ he grunted and shifted to pull his wallet out of his back pocket. “Here’s my biggest thing.” He pulled out a photo and handed it to you. It was a photo of Eddie holding a baby. “That’s my little Teddy bear.” He smiled proudly. Your hand shot out to grab his forearm.
“Ohmygod… you have a baby??” Your face lit up and relief washed over him in a chill. “Look at him! Babies usually look like little potatoes but he’s so fucking cute Eddie.” You whined, holding the photo in both hands as if you were cradling it.
“I know I’m biased but I think he’s the cutest baby to ever exist.” he took great pleasure in the fact that Teddy was part him. His sweet dimpled smile made that obvious.
“He could be. A front-runner for sure. He looks like he fell right out of your ass.” You laughed and touched the photo lightly. “I bet mom hates that, huh? All that work and he comes out looking just like you.”
You saw his demeanor shift, the brightness fading ever so slightly. You’d said something wrong.
“She’s not really uh-around.” His eyes wandered the tabletop for a moment.
“Oh sorry. My big mouth.” You wince and hand him back the photo.
“No, no. It’s just… I don’t ever talk about it since it’s a small town and everyone knows already. It’s a real fuckin buzzkill but it’s just facts and you shared with me so I’ll share with you.”
“You don’t have to if-“
“No, it’s fine. Me and Teddy are doing great now. She just uh- she had a heart defect that no one knew about and having Teddy well… it gave out on her.”
“Holy shit.” You let slip out on accident. “Sorry I don’t mean to be so crude about it I’m just surprised. I mean that’s… the worst.”
“We were together but not like-“ his nose twitched and he got the feeling he was about to overshare.
“I’ll answer any question you have if you want. But you don’t have to share with me unless you want to.” It was a heartfelt offer he appreciated.
“I do. We wanted to catch up so this is getting you up to speed.” He shrugged. “It’s been years ago now. Teddy wasn’t planned, we weren’t together when she got pregnant. But she wanted a baby and you know me, I wasn’t going to not be there for the kid after the upbringing I had so I did the right thing and proposed but she didn’t want to get married until after the baby but… yeah. So it could be a lot worse I guess? Is that bad to say? Sorry, it’s been a while since I’ve talked about it. “He shook his head and laughed awkwardly. “Teddy’s none the wiser. I named him Theodore because that’s what she wanted to name him. So Theodore is his middle name and I went with what I wanted, which was Ronald. Well, I wanted Ronnie but Wayne wouldn’t have me naming the kid a nickname. So his official name is Ronald Theodore Munson. But Teddy ended up being what stuck. He’s an affectionate little guy. Also a lot of hair like his parents.” he added with a sad chuckle.”He’ll probably get tired of it when he grows up and go by Ronnie, I figure.” You were gazing at him with a soft smile, seeing him talk about his kid.
“Eddie and Teddy. It’s too cute.” You sighed out, a short-lived giggle making Eddie’s cheeks flush for some reason. “Please tell me you named him Ronnie after THE Ronnie James Dio.”
“Yeah.” He admitted and looked away before you burst out laughing and reaching out again for his arm. He really liked that you touched him so much. It made him feel a weird hopefulness that didn’t exactly have a target goal he was willing to admit yet.
“God that’s perfect. I love that. No sarcasm. It’s fantastic. A+ name choice. Highly approve.” You gave him a small clap. “I think you should name your kids something fun and interesting. I love that you did that.”
“You have any kids?”
“Nope.” You shook your head. “I never tried. Never wanted to with Chris.”
“So that’s the wet blankets name.” He smirked.
“Yes, it is. And a perfect description.” You commended him. “He’d be a terrible dad. I didn’t want a kid that looked like or acted like him.”
“If you don’t mind me asking. If you hated this guy so much why’d you marry him in the first place?” You gave him an out-of-place smile, grateful for real questions.
“Honestly? He was safe.” You shrug and sigh. “He had a plan and was smart and good with money. Well connected, good family, all that horse shit.” Your eyes shot to Eddie as he let out a chuckle. “I partied my first year and almost flunked out, realized I had to actually try to do well in college. I was having your standard identity crisis and met him. He seemed like he had his shit together. So I hitched myself to that wagon and rode it all the way to a degree and a life I didn’t really want.”
“So that’s why you never came back.”
“Yeah. I was being indoctrinated by WASP’s.” You grumbled. “Made me hate this place and look down on it. Which isn’t right at all. This place is more real than anything they have in their gated communities.”
“So money really can’t buy you happiness?” He lightened the conversation.
“Turns out it’s true. But man it helps.” You laughed. “I was able to deny how unhappy I was for years because of money. But it only lasted so long.”
“What made you finally leave?”
“It wasn’t really one thing that did it. It’s whatever the last straw happened to be. And… it’s stupid.” You looked down and huffed out a laugh.
“It’s you, I know it’s not stupid.” The earnestness in his words made you look away for a moment before a nervous smile appeared.
“He made fun of a book I bought.” you admitted with a monotone delivery.
“Not normally grounds for divorce but a dick move.” A playful judgment was in his nod as he side eyed you. “So he made fun of it but what was the actual reason?”
“You’re still perceptive.” You give him the same smirk.
“A blessing and a curse.” He put a hand to his chest.
“It was one of those cheesy romance novels. A bodice ripper. The guy with the long hair in the wind on the cover and his shirts half open and the woman has fainted in his arms and they’re on a mountain top or some shit.” Eddie laughed and nodded. “I wanted something to enjoy. Have a good time reading it and maybe get a little thrill or something in the meantime. And so we’re in bed and he’s got his notebook and whatever he’s reading and he notices I have a book, which was different and he asks me what it is and I tell him and he does this little face I hate where he’s pretending to be interested like he’s in a fucking infomercial all ‘hmmm interesting yes’” You rub your chin and nod exaggeratedly and it makes Eddie laugh. “Who’s the author? He asked, I tell him. What else have they written? I don’t know. ‘You picked up a random book and bought it?’ Yeah, it looked fun. And he LAUGHS. And this man doesn’t laugh. He asks if any of their work would’ve had articles written about it by his peers and I just snapped.”
“He was doing that shit on purpose.” Eddie poked a finger at the worn tabletop.
“Thank you!” You slapped the table.“He’s got all these stupid questions and I just wanted to hit him over the head with the book. The next morning I went to my lawyer.”
“You work fast.” Eddie sputtered out, surprised.
“I realized that was going to be every interaction for the rest of my life with him when I showed interest in something that wasn’t up to his standard. And I fucking had it. I was done.”
“Good for you.” He says back and raised a hand to the bartender. “I’m buying you a drink on behalf of real readers everywhere.”
“Thanks.” You smile and settle into your seat, calming yourself back down. The wound was still very fresh.
“The fact that you said you went to your lawyer has thrown me for a fuckin loop though.” He grinned. “Never thought I’d hear something like that coming from you. Unless it was for a DUI or something.” He teased.
“When you make money you realize the work that goes into keeping it and turning it into more money and that means lawyers and banks and reps and accountants and specialists and brokers and-“ you groan.
“What the hell kind of work did you do?”
“White collar business. Numbers. Money.” You nod. “The only good thing that came from that relationship was I learned how rich people use their money and I protected myself. Everything was kept separate and since he only had a part-time professor gig since he was on a never-ending quest for more degrees his folks paid some of the bills.”
“Oh god, a trust fund baby? Really?” He cringed. “You knew better than that.”
“I know I know.” You roll your eyes. “But you also understand how scary the world is when you don’t have money. And just a taste was enough to make me sell out. I’m not proud of it. But I’m proud of where I am now.” You sat up straighter. “In a small studio apartment in my hometown. Unemployed, single, and totally fucking winging it.”
Two long necks appear at the table and he raises a toast.
“Here’s to totally fucking winging it.” You happily clinked your bottles together. “Ever since Teddy came earth side and my tentative plans went all to hell with becoming a dad I feel like totally winging it is an understatement.” He sighs. “I worked at the record store forever then suddenly I owned it. I’ve got a loan and very little business knowledge and a new baby and I’m a future spouse short on support and income. And now I’m working days at the body shop in town and holding my breath.”
“I’m not gonna lie that’s a lot.” you gave him a sympathetic pout. “For anyone. Do you need like- help or anything? I mean I did help people run businesses in a past life.”
“Honey, you do not deserve to be dragged into my bullshit circus of a life.” the way he spoke reminded you so much of Wayne.
“Maybe I wanna be?” You shrugged and let the offer hang in the air. “I mean I don’t have a job, you’d be doing me a favor. I can look over your stuff and give you some advice and if you like it you can put me on retainer.”
“I don’t think I could afford you.” He smirked at the underlying double meaning to which your snorted at.
“Friends and family discount.” You nodded. “Or I can just… I don’t know… you need someone to watch Teddy?”
“You’d do that?” He seemed genuinely surprised and it shocked you.
“Yeah. Childcare is ridiculously expensive. I could cut a day or two off a week for you. Use him for ransom so you have to hang with me again?”
His face lit up and he wiped his smiling mouth with the back of his hand after taking another drink.
“Or just ask like a normal person.” He snorted.
“Sounds boring.” You muttered before taking a sip and sending him into another laugh.
“You sure you wanna get mixed up with me? You just got back, you’re dealing with your own stuff I don’t wanna add to it.” He offered you a chance to withdraw. You weren’t interested.
“I’ll come clean, Eddie.” You began and took a deep breath after a deeper swig of beer. “Coming back here, I had a few hopes. And being able to reconnect with you was one of those to be perfectly honest. It’s this new thing I’m trying.” He gave you a crooked smile, a dimple deepening in his cheek that lured your gaze to it. “And the fact that you’re willing and want anything to do with me after I left is more than I could hope for. I came back here to be around real people with real lives. I would love to help you with your business too. I’ll do it for free, I don’t give a shit. Because you’re a real person with consequences for your actions. Not some numbered entity of an LLC bought off a drunk golf game bet.” You took a deep breath and saw his face warm and open, shoulders a little slouched. “So short version- yes. I want to be involved in your bullshit.“
“Good.” A simple answer with a complicated proposition. “I want to be involved with your bullshit too.”
You’d been to six different businesses today. Your feet were tired, having not been accustomed to being in heels all day for months. Your suit felt stiff despite how much you knew the fabric cost. You’d found a few leads but mostly the role of bookkeeper was locked down by someone who should’ve already retired. Change was vital to business survival and these people didn’t seem to care if their taxes had been done the same way for the last 20 years. Small towns, man.
A whistle breaks your grumpy demeanor you weren’t trying to hide anymore since exiting the back office of the noisy Chuck E. Cheese. You blinked, head snapping to the sound of sucking teeth before seeing the playful lit up face of Eddie as the source.
“Sorry sugar, thought you were someone else. You’re clearly a business lady, my mistake.” he wheezed and coughed with his laugh, splayed out in a red vinyl chair among the scattered groupings of parents and kids.
“Fuck off.” you laughed, hissing it at him quietly to not become the witch in a witch hunt the barking of the word fuck in a place like Chuck E. Cheese would surely start. He pulls out the empty chair next to him and slaps the cushion.
“Take a load off fancy business pants.” he grinned deep, smile lines siking farther into his face than they used to. “Your feet have got to be killing you in those shoes. Christ, woman. What are you wearing those torture devices for?”
“Old habit.” you groan, wrinkling your nose as you plop down, crossing your leg over your knee toward him.
“Why are you in a kid’s pizza place in a suit?”
“Been going around cold calling about work today.”
“Old school.” he nodded in approval. “Any luck?”
“Some bites. Nothing concrete. Franchises like this have to get everything approved by corporate before they can even move around where the napkin holders are let alone hire someone.”
“Sounds like a ring of hell to me.” he muttered, leaning in toward you, his face facing the play area.
“Are you here with Teddy or out hunting for single moms?” you snort.
“I can do both.” he laughed, your chests moving the jabs at each other. “I was actually out hoping to bag a lady who can make me look even more like a deadbeat dad than I already do by simply sitting next to me.” he looked you up and down to sell the joke before you understood he was talking about you. “You look like you’re here to supervise a custody visit, man. What is this?” he tugged at the collar of your suit jacket.
“It’s call professionalism.” you sat up and wobbled your head. “But it is overkill in Hawkins.” you sighed and took off the suit jacket, hanging it and your purse on the back of the chair. “I look like I gather “protection” money.” you go ahead and roast yourself. “Do I look less like a narc?” you ask, fluffing your hair and in a button-up shirt with no stuffy jacket with a single button undone. “That better?” you slouched back into the chair, hands crossed on your stomach.
“Depends on the connotations of what you’re applying the word better to.” He didn’t look at you when he said it but the smirk was audible in his voice. Your head is noticeably tilted as you lean in toward him, shifting in the seat.
“You’re gonna give me war flashbacks to fundraising dinners talking like that.” you chuckled, looking out to the smattering of kids, seeing if you could pick out which was his. There wasn’t one screaming or chewing through the ropes so that theory was out. “Although they weren’t nearly as flirty as you, you scamp.” you snorted and watch his grin beam across his stubbled face.
“My main outlet for flirting is with women at the shop,” he admitted, turning his head back toward you. “And don’t get me wrong, it’s fun. A bit awkward with how heavy they’re willing to lay it on, man. You’d be shocked at the people that have offered to pay in other ways.” he wiggled his brows.
“You get rid of me and suddenly you’re swimming in p-” you stop yourself and look around with wide eyes, remembering where you are as Eddie cackles loudly and slaps your leg. “I’m not used to being around family-friendly environments.” you purposely wince and watch his laugh take over his entire demeanor. People turned to look at him but he still didn’t care. It was comforting to know that hadn’t changed.
“I’m no pro at it myself. Don’t worry. When we’re not in public you won’t have to hold your tongue so much. The first time Teddy swore I almost hyperventilated I laughed so hard.”
“Speaking of, where is he? Can I meet him?” Eddie turned to find your eyes bright, brows high and hopeful. “Or maybe not. Is that too soon? I should ask permission first, right? I don’t know how kids work, sorry.” Again, that now deep, gravelly laugh gritted out, the years of cigarettes still in his throat as he pat and rubbed your shoulder.
“You remind me of me when I first got him home. What do I do with this thing?” he mimicked fear and holding a baby awkwardly. “He needs to take a break and get a drink anyway.” he sat up, cracking his back and groaning. “Teddy Monster?” He shouted hands clasped to his mouth, startling the other restaurantgoers.
A small screechy roar is heard, a section of ball pit busting up into the air and a curly mop-haired little cherub-faced cutie pie flopped over the barrier with a cackle much like his dad’s. He rolled out onto the foam playmat-covered floor and stumbled a bit before finding his footing and booking it toward Eddie who was running at him full speed, hunched over, hands clawed both growling at each other. He yanked him up as he lept at him fearlessly, tossing him in the air, before pretending to eat his stomach, holding him sideways, raspberrying his tummy before so easily tossing him into one arm and plopping him down on his knee at the table.
You took in the funniest little gasp of air when you realized you hadn’t breathed the entire time you’d watched him. Gulping and regaining your senses, shocked at yourself. Your eyes dilated at the sight of Eddie with his kid. Oh god, your inner voice groaned. Was the biological clock thing actually real? Was this what that was? Did you just ovulate at the sight of your high school crush simply playing with his kid? Should you be ashamed? Because you sure didn’t feel ashamed.
“Get a drink, bud.” Eddie brought the plastic cup to Teddys grabbing hands. “You having fun?” he kissed his impossibly soft curls, slightly damp from sweat.
“Mnfg- yuh- mmffpptt” he spluttered trying to answer and gulp at the same time, he gained a chuckle from you and both the dark-eyed boys turned to look at you in unison.
“Hi!” he said with a wet face and a smile that looked so much like his father's it made your chest hurt.
“This is Daddy’s friend.” Eddie put his hand on your shoulder as he introduced you.
“Hi Miss.” he nodded and waved with one hand, the other still grasping the cup Eddie was balancing for him.
“He calls all the ladies at the daycare Miss.” Eddie explained.
“So polite.” You couldn’t help how you cooed at him. Eddie noticed. “I’m excited to meet you Teddy. Maybe me and you can be friends like me and your daddy are?” With wide eyes, he nodded in agreement.
“He’s super friendly. Never met a stranger. Didn’t get it from me.”
“Dad.” He gasped, raising his t-shirt to wipe his face. A habit he surely picked up from Eddie. “Can she play?”
“Ask her.” He chuckled, smoothing down his waves.
“Wanna play?” He perked up, leaning to put his hands on your knee.
“I absolutely do!” You couldn’t figure out how Eddie ever said no to that face. You reached down to slip off your shoes and a smile Eddie purposely held back on started to grow. “You like the ball pit? It’s my favorite.”
“Me too!” He clapped his hand together and started wriggling out of Eddie’s hold. You pulled your hair back again and gave Eddie a nod. “I’m gonna hurt myself so don’t make fun of me.” You said quietly before standing.
“I’d never.” He put his hand to his chest defensively.
“Come ON!” Teddy’s squatted form growls like a professional metal frontman as he stood waiting for you to catch up.
Eddie sat back, leg bent over his other, hands laced together to fit behind his head. He watched you get tugged mercilessly by his son into the ball pit in a suit that probably cost so much Teddy couldn’t even fathom a number that high yet. You looked expensive but it was clear you were priceless. You slid headfirst into the concerningly sticky ball pit. You were caught up in the cutest kid you’d ever seems energy and found yourself forgetting you hadn’t played in 20-something years and you’d be feeling the ache tomorrow. Eddie couldn’t take his eyes off you, getting jumped on by Teddy, mashed into the pit, and pelted and screamed at. Other kids joined in, happy an adult was getting on their level. Eddie was known to crawl around the tubes on the play area from time to time but got dirty looks from the other parents. Aware that his own reputation now affected someone besides himself he’d pulled back on the public displays of feral behavior.
As he watched he let himself hope for a moment. Seeing a best-case scenario play out in front of him, his worries that you’d be averted in some way from him because he had a kid we’re floating away, replaced with a shameful optimism it could be a pro instead of a con. He’d be a blatant liar to himself if he tried to say as soon as he saw you walk into his shop the thought of being with you again hasn’t popped into his head. However, sex at 17 is a lot less complicated than sex in your 30s, at least for him. Eddie had big feelings. Especially when It came to you. He had a kid and jobs and a life he’d worked so hard to create that bringing someone in without immense forethought wasn’t something he was willing to do. Sure he’d banged his way through some women in Hawkins to pass the time but he had no intentions of being with you physically unless that also came with the emotions attached. There was no you for him without emotion attached. And watching you with the most important piece of his life, slotting into their dynamic with ease made him let out a deep sigh. With the worry of you approving of being in his life in any capacity in relation to Teddy aside. It let the gates open for many other far deeper running concerns.
You had a good run, laughing as you hopped out of the ball pit and stumbled falling flat on your ass, the kids all pointing and laughing. A very sweet little girl came over to help you up but you were also too busy laughing at the situation. Your cheeks hurt from smiling, your knees ached from crawling along the bottom of the pit after a very rambunctious Teddy who really seemed to like hiding and popping out at you as you stalked him through the large rectangle space. Your muscle was awake with freshly pumped blood, cheeks rosy, and hair a mess, half out of its scrunchie as you tugged the rest out before dramatically collapsing into the chair next to Eddie.
“How?” You panted out, still smiling.
“How what?”
“Two things.” You hold up your fingers and steal a drink from his cup. “One, you must be in incredible shape to play with him like that. That’s crazy. And two-“ you took another drink, finishing it off and meeting Eddie’s brightly amused face. “We need to isolate what gives them that level of energy and sell it.”
“Ain’t that the truth.” Eddie chuckled, half muttered and reminding you of his uncle. “A real answer, I don’t keep up.” He admitted willingly. “A true but more boastful answer is work keeps me in better shape than I’d be in otherwise. So that helps. And he slowly got bigger so it’s not like I could throw him around overnight. I’m figuring out what that dad strength people talk about is.”
“Man I’d like some of that if it made my arms look like that.” You blurted out the specific compliment without much thought, happy on endorphins from exercise. You and Eddie were always playful and flirty but you didn’t know where the line was between you now. Or where the line even was within yourself. Did you want to flirt with him? I mean really purposely flirt with bitten lips and side eyes and hushed tones? Because there were levels to this now. It wasn’t heh I like your Metallica shirt let’s make out in the back of your van about it anymore. You kinda wish it was though. Man, you had some good times in the back of his van.
“Oh you bought a ticket I see.” He said with no notion he was joking, rolling up one of his sleeves.
“What?” You blurted out with no flirt to be found in your scrunched face.
“To the gun show?” He asked as if you were stupid as he flexed and you groaned and threw your head back. You were split between two moments in time for a second. You were two obnoxious teens in the diner being loud and completely oblivious that anyone else was around again. He cackled and you slugged his defined arm. More tattoos than you left him with covered the planes that shifted as he ran his hand through his still unruly waves. You felt young again. There were more seen and unseen scars now, permanent tiredness under your eyes, more wrinkles, and less graceful bodies but something felt youthful about being around him. And Teddy now. There was some addictive spark they lit in you. They were the sort of people your ex and his lot would’ve mercilessly insulted and looked down on. And they were exactly the sort of people who seemed to be able to remind you that yes, you could feel happy and have fun. You weren’t broken. There was nothing wrong with you. You simply hadn’t been in the right place with the right people. And now- somehow in Hawkins- a place you’d been so dead set on leaving forever turned out to be that place. Maybe it wasn’t so much the where but the who.
“I can’t even insult you now by saying you tell dad jokes. Any joke you tell is a dad joke now!”
“Oh no she’s figured out my superpower!” He laughed and raised his hands like a cartoon villain.
“Oh no! He’s too powerful!” You coward back in your chair with raised hands as if to block a magic spell cast. He shoved your thigh and almost made you fall out of the chair which only made you laugh harder together. it felt right. You both knew it. It was almost malleable in the air between you as you sighed and wheezed coming down from the interaction. You were so caught up in the moment, cheeks flush and boldly gazing at each other, wondering which questionable thing to say aloud next you didn’t even see Teddy also noticing the chemistry.
“Is she your best friend?” Teddy asked with a tilted head, as calm as you’d ever seen him gazing up at your dad in a similar way that you were. “Cause me ‘n Wes. We do that.” Such an astute observation for the little man. He was observant and clever just like his dad.
“I’m not your best friend?” Eddie pouted and reached down to bring him into his lap.
“Duh.” His little eyes rolled and you held in a snort at the display of attitude. “At daycare dad!”
“Oh of course.” Eddie relented to his miniatures putting him in his place. “You’re my best friend, Ted, you know that.” He kissed his cheek and the kid pushed him away, making you grin.
“More than one bes friend.” He held his dad's stubble-covered cheeks and spoke to him as if explaining something to well… a child.
“You can have more than one best friend?” Eddie raised his brows.
“Yes!” Teddy said annoyed. “Tell dad.” he looked over at you with his demands and you wanted to do whatever he asked.
“You can have more than one best friend.” You gave him the same attitude his son was and he chuckled, his cheeks mushed by tiny hands.
“No!” A slap to his thighs. “Tell dad you’re bes friends!”
“Oh sh-nap.” You muttered in surprise. “You’re my best friend Eddie.” You said with no hesitation. And honestly… it was the truth.
“You’re my best friend too.” You held eye contact for a moment before Teddy moved his dad's face back to face him.
“Good job!” He pat his cheek and you wanted to puke it was so cute. “Love you!” He chirped and planted a kiss on his face.
“Love you too.” You knew I’d you could feel the truth in his words that Teddy could too. “Are you about ready to go?”
“Aw, man.” He slouched and pouted and you swear it sounded just like Eddie used to.
“We don’t have to go yet. Do you need to go potty or want more pizza?”
“No.” He shook his head hard. “Gonna play.” He stuck his little Tongue out in concentration as he dismounted Eddie’s long legs and went back at it.
“Have fun.” Eddie shrugged as he was left without so much as a second glance. “He’s getting so good at talking now it blows my mind. He’s so smart.”
“Of course he is.” Your tone clearly told him to not say what he was about to. “I’ve heard reading to them helps a lot. And I’d bet you do plenty of that.”
“Yeah.” A closed-mouth smile grew from his pride. “Almost every night.”
“He’s yours of course he’s going to be the smartest little gremlin. He looks just like you, he might as well act that way too.”
“He acts like Wayne sometimes and it’s hilarious. Old man stuck in a baby’s body.”
“You act like Wayne sometimes too.”
“Shit, don’t I know it. More now than ever.”
“I’d you’re gonna act like someone he is definitely one of the better choices.” Eddie nodded in agreement. “How is he by the way?”
“Still kickin’. He retired. He’s still in the park, not far from us. He watches him a lot. Too much. He’s taking away all his retirement but he insists it’s better he watch him than leave him at daycare.”
“Grandpa Wayne.” You smiled contently and watched the kids for a moment. “He’s always had papaw energy.”
“He oozes papaw energy.” Eddie chuckled.
“The offers still open to watch your hellspawn by the way.” You smirked. “Give Wayne a much-deserved day off from time to time. I could pick him up if driving him over is out of the way. I’d like to see Wayne actually.”
“He’d love to see you.” Eddie gave you a soft smile.
“Really?”
“He asked me 50 questions when I told him you were back.” He paused and glanced away for a moment. “He always liked you, you know.”
“I always liked him.” You added supportively. “I got you out of your room and out of his hair of course he liked me.”
“We spent plenty of time in my room when he wasn’t home.” It almost came out as a murmur, he didn’t dedicate himself to letting the small reminder of your past put into the current timeline. He’d toed past the line of friendly Flirting and had brought a slice of nostalgia into the conversation that hadn’t been breached yet. It had to happen eventually. You couldn’t act like you hadn’t spent a chunk of your time inside each other in the past. But saying hey remember how we used to fuck had seemed a bit heavy-handed.
He watched you huff out a laugh, almost embarrassed as you looked down and smiled, mouth opening and closing to figure out your response. Weighing what was appropriate and what would be best for two old friends with heavy lore.
“Yeah.” Your lips twitch and you let out a giggle he’s never heard before. You missed how soft his face got when he watched you hide your face. “Yes, we did.” A slight blush filled your cheeks as you smiled.
“Do you remember… back then?” His voice was quiet, soft as if tip towing around it might make it feel less in your chest. He held his arms crossed over his front like it might shield him from the consequences of his question.
“I do.” Your voice also fell to an almost whisper, unlike you both to be subtle or timid with one another. A smile that tightened your lips, almost a purse appeared, eyes still not meeting his that was far too forward for you to meet just yet. “Do you?” you asked with a jutted-out chin. You weren’t really trying to hide the way his stare made you uncomfortable. You were too busy trying to analyze why it was. His soft laugh answered you before he did with his words. Oh yeah. He remembered.
“Oh! Hey!” you heard feet head your way and were startled. Eddie cleared his throat and shifted in his chair, the tension of the moment broken. “What was your last name again? They couldn’t find you in the database?”
“Oh right.” You said to the person you’d spoken with in the office. “Recently divorced. Might not be updated yet.” You explained and handed them two business cards. “Here’s both versions.” Eddie side eyed the worker, unnoticed a bit miffed she’d brought up your ex. Way to totally kill the mood.
“Thanks! You’ll hear from me soon.” They said rather convincingly.
“Let me see one of those.” He asked with a nod and a wiggle of his fingers.
“You want one?” You gave him a kind smile and handed him a lovely embossed rectangle. He smiled softly, crow's feet deepening at the edges of his eyes, just visible past the fluff of waves.
“It’s got your name on it.”
“No shit. It’s a business card.” You whispered and he snorted out a laugh.
“I mean your real name.” He said with conviction. “You changed it fast.”
“Not legally yet but I wanted to separate myself from his name as fast as possible.”
“I like this version better.” He said with a nod, flicking the card. “I’d hire this lady, I wouldn’t hire the other.”
“Does that mean I’m gonna get all up in your books?” You grin and nudge his foot with yours, still bare.
“Do you have to put it that way?” He snorted out a laugh.
“Yes! I get unrestricted access to Eddie Munson.” You pinched his knee and he kicked you in response. “I’ll need bank statements and your monthly, and yearly records as far back as you’ve got them and your tax returns.” He could see the excitement in your eyes.
“I take it back you’re way too into this.” He pushed your chair away with his boot and you scoot it back again with a playful back and forth.
“I’m in my element, man. And I’m dealing with you, not some rich asshole!” You both giggled as you quickly lowered your voice and hunched over from the looks thrown your way.
“We aren’t meeting here next time you’re gonna get me banned from Charles Pizzaria. Fine Italian Dining.” He pinched his fingers together and did a horrifying attempt at an Italian accent.
“God you still suck at that.”
“You suck.” He bit back and kicked your chair. Another flicker of a time jump, both snorting and laughing in his van, high as hell, shoving each other with insults thrown that never had any malicious intention.
“You wish.” Your 17-year-old self came out of the woodwork. You’d said it so many times in response to his poorly thought-out jab. It’s always ended in more shoves, which led to rolling around and wrestling which led to Eddie on top of you which led to a cocky remark which led to… you could guess. Your ears ran hot at the memory. “I guess I shouldn’t say that to someone I’m working for.” You let yourself snort and shake with a laugh.
“Extremely unprofessional.” He tsked.
“You gonna leave me a bad review?”
“Horrible.” he smirked.
“Can I earn a good review or have I ruined my chances?”
“Make me a millionaire and I’ll consider it.”
“I mean I know a guy. Recently divorced. Millionaire family. He would suck Hemmingway’s dick for SURE so I mean you might stand a chance.” you both sputter out a laugh.
“Oh, tell me more.” Eddie crossed his legs and put his hand to his chin.
“He only has three topics of conversation, you know, like a pull-string doll. He’s only had sex in two positions so you know - consistency right? And he does whatever his parents tell him to!”
“Who would leave a catch like that?” Eddie wiped the beginnings of a tear from his eye.
“Some dumb bitch.” you leaned in and whispered, sending you into another shared laugh.
“I don’t know I think she’s really smart. Whoever she is. Especially for leaving him.” his eyes were sincere, but the smile still weighed heavily on the spectrum of giving you shit about marrying such a douche.
“She’s made a handful of good decisions in her life.” you nodded, a more thoughtful smile falling into place. “More as of late. Maybe she’s getting less dumb.” you shrugged.
“I don’t know.” he shared the same subtle shoulder movement. “I think she made a few good decisions in the past.” A lump in your throat grew and you quickly swallowed it down.
“Yeah?” you tucked your hair behind your ear and felt so hopelessly obvious. “Maybe…one… or two.” Your words sunk to nearly a mumble. You looked the same to him in these fleeting moments he got under your skin, in your head. He knew it was selfish to want to hear it from you that you remembered who you two used to be. Especially so soon. But the memories were still so strongly imprinted on him that he had to know if you’d thought of him as often as he’d thought of you over the years.
“That’s a short list. Must’ve been something really important.” he leaned in so subtly, slowly, smoothly. His elbows to his knees, long fingers, still in rings just like he was still 17, laced together. You stuttered like a fool under his gaze. His eyes were even prettier than you’d recalled. Molten chocolate, honey, and caramel. Just as sinfully tempting and potentially bad for you as the sweets. Your lashes felt heavy and obvious as you slowly blinked, licking your lips, finding yourself as short on words now as you ever had been when he directed his attention solely on you.
As children always have, Teddy decides that now is the best time to get his foot caught in a rope net, interrupting the precious moment. A squawk and scream, unsure if it was pain or amusement carried across the brightly colored space.
“Oh, Jesus Christ.” Eddie muttered as you both bolted toward the little monkey hanging upside down.
The brief scare had triggered his neediness, refusing to be looked at or held by anyone but his dad after he slipped his ankle out of the soft braided thread. Eddie prayed no one cared that Teddy was attached to his front as he drove home. A little snore and blub from time to time as Eddie kept his large hand on the child’s back, rubbing it soothingly as he drove.
“C’mon Teddy Bear.” a name he used when he was feeling particularly soft for the wild little creature he’d helped create. A small grunt of disapproval was released as he was lifted and brought into the dark house. Eddie didn’t bother turning on the overhead light, a lamp would suffice. “You wanna wake up? Get ready for bed? We could do a bubble bath? You want a story?” he offered things to the smushed face with barely open eyes adamantly shaking his head, refusing to lift his head from Eddie’s chest. “You want daddy to hold you and you sleep on me?”
“Yeah.” the first nod of the nap. With a resigned sigh Eddie managed to kick his boots off and get his jeans on the floor, left in unevenly slouched socks, boxers, and a t-shirt. He switched on the radio, a quit afterthought as he took Teddy’s ensemble off piece by piece, having purposely chosen every piece. With a new set of matching jammies, a dinosaur print that he’d nearly had a meltdown over when he saw them in the store. Eddie set his notebook and the book he was currently reading on the nightstand. He sank into the small bed, propping himself up with the pillows, setting an alarm on the clock radio just in case. Teddy still clutched to his chest, already back asleep. A lazy hand pat to the beat of a fading song on his butt, the other with Eddie’s fingers in his mop of curls, mouth, and nose nestled into the nest and taking a deep inhale. His eyes looked out the window, the sky was navy, a calm sky, and a slight sway to his shoulders, not purposely, as he rocked Teddy back and forth.
“And next we have a hit from the year 1984. She just came out with another album but this one from her 1983 release of She’s So Unusual is still one of her biggest hits. This one brings back some great memories for me, maybe it will to other listeners out there tonight. Here’s Cyndi Lauper with, Time and Time.” the typical radio announcer's voice echoed in the small room with the slightly crooked wallpaper Eddie had hung himself. He let out a sigh, not needing to hide it from anyone, the back of his head against the headboard covered in stickers and markers. The year 1984 haunted him for plenty of reasons. The first time he failed senior year. The main one on his mind tonight was that it was the year you’d left Hawkins. You’d said you’d hated the school dance fodder songs as much as he did. Which couldn’t have been true because neither of you actually did. He thought Cyndi Lauper was weird and hot. Much like you were. The song was catchy, heartfelt, and now a nostalgia bomb of memories. You in a second-hand prom dress, dancing with him. You both swore you hated it. Again. Not true. The way you’d looked at each other was proof of that. The way you’d scrapped together enough money for a dress was even more proof. You were just as soft and terrified as he was. A smile crosses his face, feeling a warmth in his chest at the thought of the full-cheeked and big-haired you in your youth. Flashes of smiles, of fights, and long nights running away from your lives together. The memories had kept him company often through the years. He’d thought about you a lot. Wondering if you were okay. If you’d felt the same way he had. He’d go back and kick his own ass for not telling you how he felt before you left if he could. But those thoughts, that anger was pointless now. Learning to live with the choices you make when you didn’t know any better was something Eddie had to quickly learn to accept. His smile deepened at the prospect of knowing you now. Of getting that second chance of closure. It was a messy can of worms to want to open. Sometimes memories were viewed with rose-colored glasses and weren’t as they truly were at the time. But bless Eddie’s soft heart he couldn’t help himself. He’d never been one for making smart decisions.
Eeeee I got so excited to see your asks are open again! ❤ because it's valentines, could I request something where the reader has been super unlucky in love, never been someone's valentine, never been kissed, never felt desired, so always felt really sad and left out especially on valentines with all the couples and romantic ads on TV. Even though she's certain she'll be rejected and that Loki won't feel the same, she's faces the hurt of rejection and gets him a card and chocolates and maybe a cheesy valentines teddy bear anyway, because she doesn't want him to feel left out on the holiday the same way she's felt left out all her life 🥺 (he of course likes her too, though 👀)
Keep up the amazing fics ❤❤❤ you're wonderful 🫶
Aaaahhhh!!!!! Thank you so much!!!! I'm so glad you sent this to me and I hope I do it justice for you!! And as always thank you so much for all the love and support!!! It means more then you know!!! 🥰💚
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You ran through your list, making sure you had everything as you headed to the checkout "who needs that many pop tarts." You huffed, tucking the list away pulling out the black credit card Stark had given you. Being the teams official errand runner was interesting to say the least, but getting to know everyone was definitely worth it. Your shy nature had always made it hard for you to make friends growing up, but they welcomed you with open arms. Bonding quickly with wanda and Nat they became two of your closest friends. And when the Asgardian brothers joined the team, you couldn't help smile at Thor's always positive attitude, and as far as Loki went...well that was another story....you absolutely didn't have a crush on him....no way.
As you stood in line you glanced at the magazines "How to do Valentine's on a Budget" in bold letters across one "How to Drive Him Crazy" on another making you groan. You always disliked this time of year, the hearts...the flowers...boxed chocolates as far as the eye could see. Shifting your attention forward as the line moved you saw a young couple holding hands as they kissed. You would give anything to know what that was like. You'd always been awkward when it came to dating, some would even say unlucky. You had managed a few dates here and there in your adult life but definitely nothing spectacular. Your date always ending the night with a handshake and a "see ya around." You'd never even been kissed.
You looked down fidgeting with a box of Thor's pop tarts trying to get your mind off it, but being surrounded by all things love was a blaring reminder that no one loved you, and probably never would. You finally got to the front of the line, quickly checking out you needed out of there. Swiping your card you loaded everything into the cart and headed out to your car, you phone ringing as you shut the trunk, pulling it out seeing an unknown number calling you making you furrow your eyebrows "hello?" You asked "h..ello...y/n can you hear me?" He asked loudly "yes, I can hear you, who is this?" You laughed holding the phone out "excellent, this is Loki, Thor showed me how to make calls on this odd device." He said "oh ok, hi... did you umm need anything?" You asked biting your lip. "Ah, yes I was wondering if I could ask you something?" He asked making your heart race "umm yeah sure, what's up?" You asked.
"Well dear, I was wondering...if it isn't too much trouble." He said making your smile "yes Loki?" You urged, crossing your fingers "could you grab me some of that green tea you got last time? I quite liked it." He said as your heart sank into your stomach. "Oh...y..yeah sure." You said looking down "Thank you y/n. I very much appreciate it." He said "sure, no problem." You said hanging up. "Stupid...why would he ask you out..." you said to yourself walking back into the store. You made it back out to the car, tossing the bag in with the others you got in, looking at the people coming out, flowers and heart shaped balloons in hand. You sighed starting your car wishing this holiday would hurry and be over.
You made it back to the tower, beginning to unload the trunk when you heard footsteps "ah, lady y/n allow me to assist you." You heard, turning your head seeing Thor smiling at you "Thank you, I appreciate it." You huffed looping some of the bags around your arms "no trouble at all." He said grabbing the last of the bags he closed the trunk following you to the elevator "so, what are your plans for the day of love?" He asked as you rode up "oh, Valentine's day? Nothing." You said looking down "surely not, I'm sure your boyfriend has something planned." He winked making you laugh "I don't have one Thor." You said, wishing the elevator would let you out. "Surely you jest, a pretty girl like you?" He asked turning to face you "ha...yeah ok." You laughed awkwardly, wanting the conversation over "I'm serious y/n, you are.." he was cut off as the doors opened and you rushed out.
You reached the kitchen, hefting the bags on the counter as Thor followed you "you know y/n, if you are free, might I make a suggestion?" He asked smiling at you "look, Thor i..." you were cut off by another voice coming from behind you "Brother, leave the poor girl alone." You turned seeing Loki towering over you "Loki, I was only asking of her plans for this..Valentine's day." Thor said setting the bags on the counter "I'm sure her plans are not your concern." Loki said glaring at him. "It's ok guys, really." You said as they both looked at you, pulling the tea and pop tarts from the bags you slid them to them "ah, thank you dear." Loki smiled picking up the box looking at Thor "how do you eat those?" He asked as Thor ripped the box open "you do not know what your missing." Thor said winking as he walked down the hall.
You sighed, unloading the bags as Loki stepped around you grabbing the kettle "would you care for some dear?" He asked setting the box next to the stove "oh, no thank you." You said, maneuvering around him putting the groceries away. "I apologize for my brother's intrusiveness, he can be quite nosy." Loki said leaning against the counter "oh, it's ok he was just curious." You shrugged gathering the empty bags doing your best not to look directly at him "when is this...valentine's day?" He asked crossing his arms "umm next week actually." You said stuffing the bags under the sink "and it is traditional to buy these silly trinkets for your lover?" He asked "typically yeah, some people go out on dates or buy jewelry or flowers and stuff." You said finally glancing up at him seeing him nod
"and what if, hypothetically you wanted to ask someone to be your lover? What would one do?" He asked, his eyes meeting yours making you shiver "um, honestly I'm not sure. I think just do what you feel? Like, ask them to dinner or a movie or something like that." You said "I think the holiday puts too much pressure on people, just...be yourself." You smiled watching him nod again "who would say no to you." You mumbled under your breath grabbing your things walking around the island "y/n there was something else I wanted to ask you." Loki said making you turn back "yes Loki." You said biting your lip. "I was curious, would you.." he was cut off by Tony walking in "Hey horns, we got a mission so we need to head to the conference room." He said as he walked up to you.
"Hey y/n, could you do me a solid and pick this stuff up for pepper? With the mission I'm afraid I won't have time to do it before next week." He asked smiling handing you a small list "oh...yeah sure, no problem Mr stark." You said pocketing the paper "Tony...please." He laughed walking towards the hall. You looked up seeing Loki straighten and follow Tony "loki, w..what were you gonna say?" You asked fidgeting with your hands "oh, it wasn't important. I'll see you around yes?" He asked smiling "um, yeah....I'll be around." You said, watching him bow slightly before leaving. "Yeah...see ya around" you sighed heading to your office.
Tumblr media
You spent the next few days doing your best to isolate yourself in your office. Everytime you got on your phone it was one romantic story after another "we're engaged"..."he asked me out"....to ads for flowers, sappy love commercials all over the TV, you couldn't even walk down the street without billboards reminding you you were alone. Since Tony's favor, almost every single team member had come to your office with a list of items for you to get them for their significant other. The only ones you hadn't seen yet were Thor and Loki, and you prayed to whoever was listening that Loki wouldn't grace your doorway.
You sat at your desk, tapping your pencil off the wood hearing a knock "come in." You said still sifting through everyone's lists "Hello lady y/n. I have come to ask a favor" Thor said as you looked up at him "sure, what's up?" You asked "Well, I have to go on a mission soon and was wondering if you would grab a few things for me for lady jane?" He asked reaching into his pocket. "Oh..yeah sure." You said sitting up "Stark told me to ask since you are doing the same for him." He said holding the paper out. "Yeah I can do that." You said adding his paper to the pile. "I very much appreciate it y/n." He said starting to leave "umm, w..when...do you know when Loki is going to bring me his list?" You asked, regretting the question immediately "my brother has never been one to participate in holidays. He tends to keep to himself mostly." Thor said turning back to you "he's not getting anyone anything?" You asked confused.
"I must admit he does not tell me everything, but since we have arrived here I have yet to see him court anyone." Thor said making you frown "so...he's alone...on valentine's day?" You asked, an idea beginning to form in your mind. "It would seem yes" Thor said sighing "was there anything else you needed y/n?" He asked "no, thank you thor." You smiled, watching him nod as he left, closing the door behind him. You sat back, thinking about what Thor told you. You had spent every valentine's day alone, wallowing in your own misery, but you hated the fact that he might be feeling the same. Alone on a new planet with no one. You grabbed the lists and your wallet, stuffing everything in your pockets you grabbed your keys, locking your office before making your way to the parking garage with a plan.
You walked through the store, making sure everything was checked off of everyone's list you sighed. "Ok, my turn" you said to yourself walking down the aisle filled with hearts and chocolates. "What do you get a thousand year old alien prince?" You asked yourself looking around when your eyes met a cute fluffy teddy bear nestled on the bottom shelf. You crouched down picking him up, he was soft to the touch, and fluffy enough to want to hug with large green eyes that shined in the light with a little smirk sewn on his face "perfect." You said to yourself putting him in the cart as you carried on.
You had noticed based on the shopping lists that Loki had quite the sweet tooth, leaning towards the chocolate covered caramel variety so you picked a decent sized box of assorted chocolates, as well as few caramel filled chocolate bars before heading over to the cards, each one cheesier then the last you picked a "thinking of you" placing it in the cart when you saw a dark green wicker basket nestled near the craft section. Snagging it you couldn't help the smile that spread across your face as you walked up to the checkout. You..for once in your life, were excited about valentine's day.
Tumblr media
You sat at the kitchen table, separating everyone's things into separate bags putting their names on them as you pulled out your gifts for Loki. Setting the basket down you placed the teddy bear in the middle, the box of chocolates nestled gently in front of him before adding the chocolate bars when you pulled out the card. "Hey, there you are. I haven't seen you around." You heard Nat making you look up "oh, yeah I've been pretty busy." You said motioning to the bags. "I can see that." She laughed sitting next to you "whose that for?" She asked nodding at the basket "someone." You smiled pulling a pen out of your pocket "wouldn't be someone I know would it?" She asked nudging your arm "I have no idea what your implying." You said feigning indifference. "Hmm. Let's see...green basket...insane amount of chocolate..." She said rubbing her chin "does it begin with an L?" She asked as you glared at her.
Loki was walking down the hall heading towards you office practicing what he was going to say. He had become quite fond of you since he arrived, your kind nature was a balm to his heart. Where others met him with indifference and disdain, you offered him smiles and friendship. And when Thor had come to him telling him you had no suitor, he knew this was his chance to ask the question that had been burning deep inside him, he only hoped you had felt the same. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves when he heard your voice coming from the kitchen, stopping in the hallway when he heard the widow was with you. He knew he shouldn't eavesdrop but he couldn't help his curiosity.
"I can't hide anything from you." You laughed "comes with the job." She shrugged smiling "d..do you think he'll like it?" You asked biting your lip "I think he'll love it, I mean it's chocolate." She said making you laugh "well, I hope so. I'm so...what if..." She cut you off "no, no what if's, your a catch. And if he doesn't see that he's blind." She said nudging your shoulder. "Thanks nat, I just...im not good at this stuff." You sighed looking at the basket "just be yourself and you'll be fine. Trust me, he's a lucky guy." She smiled "now, finish up and go get your man." She said standing up "yes ma'am." You said saluting her making her laugh as she walked towards the hall, loki quickly teleporting to his room before he was seen, his mind running a mile a minute, feeling his heart sink remembering what he heard.
He sat in his chair running a hand through his hair, he was too late...you had found someone. He sighed sitting back looking out the window at the city below "he is a lucky man indeed." He said, as he closed his eyes, wishing he had had the nerve to ask you sooner when he heard a faint sound on the other side of his door, barely audible but just enough for him to know someone was on the other side. He got up, conjuring his dagger he slowly gripped the handle of the door, hearing the sound again he flung the door open being met by your wide eyes staring back at him "y..y/n?" He asked seeing panic etched across your face.
"H..hey Loki i..." you trailed off looking down "i..I didn't mean to disturb you." You said as his eyes traveled down seeing the basket nestled in your arms "I'm sorry..I'll go." You tried rushing off when he gently grabbed your arm "my apologies, I did not mean to scare you my dear." He smiled, the dagger vanishing into thin air as you turned to look at him "would you perhaps like to come in?" He asked waving inside the door "oh i..I don't want to impose, I was just gonna leave this here and go." You said quietly shifting the basket in your arms. "Please, I insist." He said stepping aside as you walked past him. You stood in the middle of the room, looking around you saw daggers displayed along the wall, his large bookshelf that practically took up an entire wall, various paintings hung throughout "wow, this is amazing." You said turning back to him.
"Thank you my dear, please have a seat and tell me what brings you here." He said waving towards the couch. "Well, you see i..." you trailed off sitting down "I was shopping for everyone today and I...I thought maybe..." you trailed off picking at the wicket basket as Loki sat next to you "thought what y/n?" He asked urging you on "Well, see I've never been good at this, and your probably going think it's silly...that im silly." You whispered when you felt his fingers under your chin, gently lifting your head your eyes met his "you are not silly darling, tell me.." he whispered watching you intently "umm..so I got you this." You said handing him the basket, his fingers brushing yours as he grabbed it placing it on his lap "t..the bear reminded me of you." You laughed nervously seeing him smile "he is devilishly handsome isn't he?" Loki asked making you giggle.
"This is very sweet y/n, thank you." He said standing up he carefully placed the bear on his bookshelf before returning to sit next to you "well um I should probably go, I'm sure your probably tired and..." he cut you off holding his hand up as his long fingers picked up the card that was nestled at the bottom. "Oh..y..you don't have to read that now it's ok." You said as your palms began to feel clammy. "But I would like to, if it's ok with you?" He asked. You nodded, closing your eyes preparing for the rejection you knew was coming hearing him open the envelope. "Look, I know.." he cut you off again holding a finger up as his eyes darted back and forth, a smile spreading across his face before he looked up at you "truly y/n? You wish to go to dinner with me?" He asked.
You felt like you heart was about to explode as you wiped your palms on your thighs "if you don't want to it's totally ok, I mean I was just curious If you werent busy, and I wasn't busy and if you were hungry...if you get hungry, that you know..food is always a good choice in that instance and..." you were halted in your incoherent rambling as Loki placed a finger on your lips "I would love to y/n." He smiled. You were sure you had died...your heart had stopped and you were dead "may I ask something y/n?" He asked leaning closer "y...yeah." you stuttered "would it be too forward if I asked to kiss you?" He asks making you freeze "er...um well...you see, i..." you huffed, attempting to regain any composure deciding to just tell him "I've never kissed anyone before." You rushed out watching his eyebrows furrow "you mean to tell me, no one has ever..." he trailed off watching you shake you head.
You watched him set the basket on the table, scooting closer to you his long fingers caressed your cheek, traveling down to your neck while his thumb rubbed small circles along your jaw "may i?" He asked looking deep in your eyes "y..yes." you breathed as he slowly leaned in, his eyes traveling to your lips and back as you closed your eyes, feeling his warm breath fan across your face as he genlty pressed his lips to yours. Tilting his head he deepened the kiss, slowly running his tongue along your bottom lip you parted them, feeling his tongue slide past your lips caressing yours you followed his lead hearing him moan, deciding you never wanted to stop hearing that when he pulled back, biting your lip gently.
"Are you ok y/n?" He asked when you realized you eyes were still closed "y...yes...mmhmm." you said seeing him smile "I must admit something to you." He said running his fingers through your hair "I have wanted to do that since we met." He said seeing your eyes widen "b..but im..and your..." you stuttered hearing him laugh "Darling, you are an incredible woman. I wanted to tell you sooner, but I was afraid you did not feel the same" He said looking down "and I was afraid I had missed my chance this evening when I heard you speaking to romanoff." He said "Loki, I think your incredible too, and I thought you wouldn't feel the same." You said making him laugh "we are both oblivious I see." He said making you laugh "yes, yes we are." You agreed. "Well darling, how would you feel about watching a film and helping me eat this chocolate hmm?" He smiled "I would love that." You said as he leaned forward handing you the remote.
"Happy valentine's day Loki." You said kissing his cheek "happy valentine's day y/n." He said kissing your forehead as he wrapped his arm around your shoulders pulling you into his chest. You closed your eyes taking a deep breath, his cologne invading your senses making you sigh. You snuggled further into him deciding this was your new favorite spot.
IKEMEN PRINCE HEADCANONS - SUITOR'S REACTIONS TO RECEIVING A VALENTINE'S DAY GIFT (Chevalier, Clavis, Gilbert)
Thank you for voting in the poll for the Valentine's Day Headcanons - these three suitors received the most votes.
Tumblr media
Chevalier Michel
What do you get for a man who values worth over physical items, a man who sees no need or want for "gifts"?
You drove yourself mad with worry, turning these questions over and over in your head. Until, that is, when an idea popped into your mind.
Immediately, you went to Sariel with your idea to see if this was even possible. For your idea was a grand gesture; this was no mere token of affection.
Sariel agreed that it was a splendid idea, surely a surprise for the King of Rhodolite.
"I'll do my part here to help keep him occupied inside the palace," Sariel informed you. it helped to have the Palace's Devil on your side for this task.
It was surely a challenge to keep Chevalier away from your surprise. True to his word, Sariel did all he could to busy the King with paperwork and meetings.
But that did nothing to help in the evenings when Chevalier was ready to stretch his legs.
"What do you mean, we can't go in the rose garden?" he asked one evening.
Stammering, your mind searched for an excuse. "Er, it was raining earlier and the grounds are all wet."
"I was near a window all day and saw no rain."
Sighing, you quickly thought of something else. "Clavis set a trap out there, we should really go back to your library."
Chevalier narrowed his eyes at you. He had an inkling something was up, but wished to avoid any potential traps. And not spoil whatever it was you were plotting.
After that first time, however, Chevalier did not ask to go to the gardens, instead allowing you to guide him back to the library or his bedroom.
Until one night, when you suggested you head to the gardens.
Chevalier looked at your curiously. "The gardens? Are you sure there are no hidden traps?" he asked with a laugh.
Smiling, you slipped your hand through his bent arm. "No, I think it's all clear out there today."
He led you through a maze of familiar hallways until you reached the doors leading to the gardens.
"I assume you're aware what today is." Your voice was quiet, almost hesitant as you looked at him.
"Indeed. It's that ridiculous holiday that couples choose to celebrate their love for one another." Chevalier couldn't understand why there was one day dedicated to celebrating one's love for another; this is something that should be conveyed any day, every day.
Smiling, glad he remembered, you tugged on his arm, leading him towards the gazebo where he liked to read.
Chevalier raised a brow at you when you stopped right before the gazebo. There was more flowers than usual - dahlias and tulips in shades of pink, complimenting the roses that lined the gazebo. There was a new stone walkway leading to the seating area that was now furnished with plush pillows.
Amongst the new flowers, there was a small plaque, raised on a stake, your gaze was fixed on.
"The King's Garden," he read aloud, his fingers tracing the elegant raised letters. "This garden was planted for the King on Valentine's Day by...." His voice trailed off as he turned his gaze to you.
Your firsts clenched, fidgeting with the skirt of your dress, you averted your gaze. "I wanted to give you something that wasn't ephemeral. Somewhere you could go to everyday. Something that would live on, something future generations could enjoy."
"You forgot one thing, simpleton," he said, tilting your chin up with his thumb. Worried he didn't care for your gift, you looked up at him with wide eyes, hoping for acceptance. "There's no mention of the queen on this plaque."
Blushing, you were surprised by his question. "That's because I'm not the queen," you replied matter-of-factly.
"Yet," he said softly, kissing the top of your head. "You're not the queen yet."
Clavis Lelouch
"Oh my, it's horrifying!" Yves shrieked as he stepped away from the table.
"It looks just like his creations, it's scary," Jin observed as he peered at your masterpiece. "It's amazing, you nailed all of the details - the lopsided eyes, the weird ears. To think, it's all made of chocolate."
Jin reached out, ready to steal a piece to satisfy his sweet tooth.
"That's for Clavis!" you exclaimed, swatting his hand away before he could ruin your creation.
"What's for Clavis?" a familiar voice asked.
You spun in your spot, shifting to hide what was on the table. "Um, it's nothing."
Clavis tilted his head, trying to peer behind you. "It doesn't look like nothing." He took a step closer to you, trying to get a better look, but you kept moving, blocking his view.
"I think it's time we head back to the office," Jin announced, hinting to Yves that it was time to go.
"Good," Yves said as he followed Jin. "That thing was looking at me, and I didn't like it."
"Now what was my little brother talking about just now." Clavis stood right in front of you, his amber eyes holding your gaze, as he cupped your cheek in his hand.
Sighing, you stepped away, revealing the creation you were hiding.
Clavis sighed, clearly in awe of what he was witnessing. "It's....it's my bunny cake I make for you. But it's -"
"Completely made in chocolate," you said. "I had heard that chocolate is the traditional Valentine's Day gift, and I -"
"Recreated my masterpiece..." Clavis leaned in, gazing adoringly at the strange bunny cake.
"Shall we eat it?" His golden eyes gleamed with excitement.
"Yes!" you replied, curious to try what you made.
Clavis lifted you in his arms, placing you on the edge of the table.
"It's such a shame to destroy it like this, but then, it would be a shame not to eat it." He broke off one of the bunny's ear; bringing it to your lips, he offered it to you for a nibble.
The chocolate was sweet on your lips; smooth and creamy, it melted on your tongue.
"How is it?" he asked, anticipation alight in his amber eyes.
"So good, so very good." Your eyes drifted closed as you savored the sweetness of the chocolate.
You broke off the other bunny ear, offering it to Clavis to try.
He wrapped his hand around your wrist, as if he was going to guide your hand to his mouth. But instead, he moved your hand away to the side and kissed you, his tongue sweeping your lips, tasting the sweetness for himself.
"You're right, it's delicious."
Gilbert von Obsidian
You were so immersed in your own little world, humming to yourself as you prepared the raisin cakes that you didn't even hear him walk into the kitchen.
His footsteps were soft as he approached you. Without his cane, you didn't hear the tell-tale tapping sound as he stepped behind you.
He caught you by surprise, his arms reaching around your waist.
Without his fur cloak dampening his chill, his body was cooler than usual, his broad chest pressing against your back, his arms firm against your waist.
"You didn't tell me you were baking," he whispered in your ear, nipping the rim of your ear.
"It was supposed to be a surprise," you chided him as you continued to assemble to cakes.
He brushed your hair to one side of your shoulder, his gloveless finger ice-cold on your skin as he traced the ribbon your wore around your neck hiding the love bites he left on your neck last night.
Gently pushing the ribbon down, he found an expanse of unmarked skin. Dipping his head, he left sucking kisses on your neck, before clamping his mouth on your pulse point as he left another mark on your delicate skin.
Placing soothing kisses on your skin, he replaced your ribbon, covering the pale pink blossoms on your neck.
Gilbert rested his head on your should as he watched you prepare the raisin treats he once made for you.
Wordlessly, he placed his hand on yours, guiding your hand as you made his favorite treat, enjoying how your warm hand felt in his.
"Happy Valentine's Day." Twisting in his arms to face him, you held a cake to his lips, letting him have the first bite. "I tried to recreate your recipe from scratch..."
Gilbert bit into the cake; it was everything he remembered them tasting like. Maybe even more. Because they were made by you. Made with love.
"Happy Valentine's Day," he said before biting the tip of your finger.
Nines x reader "far away into the deviancy"
Tumblr media
Okay but I didn't notice I got 15 subscribers bc of my NSFW headcanons of Detroit and 250 votes on it ? You little perverts (I love yall)
I know christmas is far away and new year was yesterday buuuut I wanted to write something for my rk900 boy, no smut in this post sorry but I'll do a part 2 with smut of my nines x reader x Gavin one shot ;>
Enjoy and happy holidays even if it's passed!
_______
It was new year's eve and your dpd colleagues and you decided to organize a little party at your home. The people who came were Connor and hank, Gavin and Tina and also nines. How could you describe your relationship with nines? It was complicated. The tall advanced Android was "deviant" but didn't understand many of the emotions he was feeling since the poor boy was waked up by his predecessor the rk800. So often he would ask questions when he is doubting about something. And he was particularly doubting about you, he couldn't tell why but he feels the need to protect you and be sure no harms happens when there is a mission. He wanted to be near you as much as possible and talk to you every chances he gets. Connor told him it was what humans calls "love", nines made research and that was exactly what he was feeling towards you but.. He became more distant as times flew by. Maybe he had something on his mind? You couldn't tell. The firsts to arrive were hank and Connor, Connor had a little Christmas hat and an ugly sweater as well as hank, you laughed and both kissed them on the cheek.
- looking good lieutenant
- oh shut up ___ I only accepted to wear this since Connor and I couldn't celebrate Christmas because of a case
You and Connor laughed as the grumpy lieutenant got into your sofa, the android gave you a gift and you smiled fondly.
- oh God Connor you shouldn't have!
- it's nothing detective and plus, it's a gift for thanking after what you organized for all of us
Gavin and Tina arrived just a bit later, Gavin mocking Connor while Tina tried to manage him to stop. But one person was missing, nines.
- do you guys have news of nines by any chances?
Everyone said no and Connor came closer to you
- I just think he is a bit late.. Nothing to worry
You all started to eat (even Connor since all the thirium food headcanons i saw) and laugh while waiting for the last guest. Speaking of which the door bell rang and you opened, nines was covered in snow with a little box under his arm, you laughed and got him in while getting rid of the snow. You could have sweared he had a blue tinted blush on his cheeks.
- thank you ___ please accept this as a present but.. Open it when everyone is gone please
He said the last line quietly so only both of you could hear him, what was in that box? It picked your curiosity and you couldn't wait to open it. Then you all eated the dinner discussing every subject that came to mind. Then you offered to dance with everyone, except hank and Gavin, everyone seemed to enjoy that idea. You all putted the table asides so you could dance without any problems. Nines sitted on a chair and when you were going to him, Connor took gently your hand.
- can we dance for a bit ___?
You nodded and started to dance with him, hank was passed out on the sofa, Gavin drinking with Tina as they danced juste to have fun. Connor looked at nines then at you.
- I told nines to take a gift for you
- really? Why?
- you will find out, now I will take hank home and leave you with him, I think he wants to talk with you
You nodded and let him go, he got home with hank and Tina helped Gavin to go home too since he was too drunk and excused herself. You approached nines who was looking at the window.
- nines ? Would you allow me to dance?
You handed him your hand and he looked at you, his blue eyes falling into your (eye color) one's, he took your hand and got up before starting to dance with you. It was almost midnight and a romantic songs popped off in your Playlist, nines started to take lead of the dance and smiled a bit.
- you look.. Marvelous ___, I.. Couldn't take my eyes off of you since I came here.
You flushed and looked at him, he wore a simple white Suit similar to his uniform but.. He was still very handsome in that
- thanks.. You are really awesome too
You looked at each other a little bit awkwardly before he started to talk
- ___ I.. I wanted to say that.. Since I started to be deviant I didn't.. Got many feelings as you know and this feeling.. I never got it with someone before.. I.. Think I like you, more than a friend or a working partner you see..?
He didn't know how to put words but you totally got him, there was 3 seconds before midnight since your phone
.
.
And you kissed him as some cheers were in the streets for the fireworks. You smiled and hugged him tight. At first he didn't know how to respond but he tried the best he can. After that you took his hand and got outside to see the fireworks too. When they were finished you putted everything back into place with the help of your new Android boyfriend and you got the mysterious box he got you earlier. Now you understood connor's words and smiled to yourself while opening the box. It was a little necklace with your initials on it, nines got behind you and putted it on you.
- looks good... Happy new year ___
He then kissed you one last time before going into the sofa with you to cuddle until sleep drove you out of this beautiful night
The Christmas Catch
Today's the 23rd of December, everyone went out for a holiday shopping to find a perfect gift for their family, relative, love ones, including children. However, during this Christmas season of the day is quite different for y/n. She's on their way to the spot where Shay and y/n meet up for the first time.
She pulled out the phone and opened an app called Pokemon GO while walking towards their destination. Do not worry about y/n, it is an element to look directions before crossing the street! Looking around the place is packed with people, only some are hanging out and buying presents.
As y/n arrives, Shay is already there waiting. She thought about surprising him behind the pillar that he's leaning on. She approach carefully towards him, and gave a strong press on his shoulder. Y/n got his reaction, surprised and felt relief when he saw y/n.
"Jaysus lass, you gave me a good scare! Halloween is over!" He exclaimed, she laugh a little and puts two fingers up near the face. "Well, it's a nightmare before Christmas for me! That's two points!"
Shay chuckled putting his hands in the pockets, "Let's go then, yeah?"
"Sure! Let's!"
The two walked together on the path, slight cold wind hit's y/n face. "Brr!"
"Cold?" Shay asked in concern, she look back at him with a small smile. "Yes! But I will be alright~" giving Shay an assurance, he smiled and continue to walk. The two talk for almost an hour and didn't notice the pathway is becoming not so empty.
It's only just the two of them but they're having a fun day on each other. They saw a cafe as they pass through and y/n pointed "Wanna grab a coffee or milktea? " she asked. "Yeah, I'm dying of thirst right now" Shay joked. He opened the door for y/n and the cafe looked cozy for people who are quiet and social!
They took a seat while Shay is ordering drinks. Y/n pulled out the phone and continued playing Pokemon Go as she waited. A lot of Pokemon popped out and included the shiny (fave name of your Pokemon) is located near the cafe. Excited to catch the pokemon, Shay loves to see Y/n got giddy over the phone.
What she never knew is that Shay got something for y/n but it will be a surprise later on. Shay was able to retrieve the drinks that he and y/n liked. When he return to the table, all of a sudden y/n slumped on her seat and the phone is face down. A huge sigh from her mouth, it look like it turned 100 to 10.
Shay puts down the drinks and sat. "What happened Lass? You were happy earlier and now you become glum." In concern, y/n explained and he gave a slight sad look. "Oh didnt know that's your favorite Pokemon, y/n. How long did you wait for the event in that app?" He asked. "Around Dec 1, looks like I have to wait next year, I suppose." Y/n voice sounded disappointed but not to amount.
She took a sip of her drink and helped a little bit. Only she couldn't get (fave Pokemon) and almost lost all 15 pokeballs she had in the inventory. Before anything went down Shay had one last thing to do for y/n. He stood up and rush to the door, opening it midway and looked at y/n.
"You comin' lass?" Y/n raise their eyebrow "Where are we going?"
Shay smirk playfully, "You'll see, follow me then~" Y/n grabbed their drinks and followed Shay outside. It didn't take long up to a park where there's few people hanging out. Y/n, however, hasn't seen this area yet. Shay beckons over from the bench, she walk to him and both sat beside together.
Somewhat it feels nice for y/n as she drinks. Shay turns to y/n and points at the pocket. "Check your app~"
"Huh? Which one?"
"Pokemon Go." He said. Y/n is confused and ask him, "Why? Is there something you did to the app?" It got her curious yet wasn't sure what would Shay do to it. He shakes his head and doesn't want to sound guilty. "No no no! Not that lass! " He chuckled, "Check your trading screen. "
Y/n immediately opened the Pokemon Go app, she tapped the trading icon when she saw Shay's profile asking for a trade with y/n. She pressed the yes button and the eyes lit up when she saw (fave shiny Pokemon) in the collection. She looked at Shay with disbelief yet shock, "HOW?!! How did you get it?"
"What can I say, I make my own luck!" Using his usual line at y/n. She shove him for being silly. She's still in shock and fixated to the character, Shay explained how he got it. "You were in the event and you never tell me?!" Y/n exclaimed and hits Shay by the shoulder.
"Ow! I'm sorry! Thought it would be adorable to see your reaction. I-I meant in a silly way~" his words stuttered at the end, for y/n find it hard to believe. Pouting to the side away from Shay. It's funny for him to see y/n went all 'dont talk to me, me angy' vibe, he apologies shortly. "I didn't mean to keep it hidden from you, y/n. I'm sorry"
He reaches to his pocket and on his palm is a small (fave color) box, y/n look over and sees it from his hand. "What is it?" She asked. "Take it Lass, it's for you!" Shay said with a smile, y/n didn't know he has a gift and felt bad for not getting for Shay in return. She takes it from his hand and opens it. The reaction was not even close from earlier, she gasps with tension of inhaling while looking at Shay and at the present at the same time.
What y/n received is a limited edition of Pokemon Go ring, she take in until she choked on her own spit. Shay laughed and helped y/n breath again before she even speak. "I'll- I'll make it up to you, but Shay- you shouldn't have!" Y/n was about to cry and he couldn't help but smile more.
"You kept staring at it by the window during our hangout and everytime we pass by to that shop, can't help but thinking about you and how you love that ring very much."
Y/n began to blush on how Shay remembers the ring she adore dearly since the time it announce online. "Shay, I- I don't know what to say." "May I?" As he asks for the ring. She gave it back then Shay reaches for y/n's hand and carefully puts the ring through the finger. Y/n couldn't help but looked at it for how many times.
Then she realize it quickly what Shay did. "I-" she felt the heart hammering. He chuckled, looking at y/n with a soft gaze. "I've been waiting for this moment to tell you, but I was afraid on your reaction. " He said. Y/n quickly looked at him with a tint of blush "No! Don't say that! I- was ready for this, "
She covered their face shying away their reaction, Shay couldn't help again laugh and hugged Y/n because of their adorable answer to him. "Does this means I got the Christmas Catch?" Y/n carefully putting down their hands, taking a deep breath and smiled widely at him.
"Yes!"
"And Merry Christmas Y/n!"
"Merry Christmas Shay!"
———––––––————–————
Made this Christmas One-shot for a friend of mine name AmericanPi and love Shay very much, so I thought of making this as a modern day storyline with a hint of pokemon in it! Hope you like it and (Belated) Merry Christmas! :3
Fall prompts, 8 for the Reggie pairing of your choice
Reggie liked fall. He liked the memories of his Meemaw baking apple pies with him, and his Pop raking up the leaves so high that he could just grab Reggie and fling him into the pile. He liked the sound of crunchy leaves under his feet, he liked the pumpkins and the spooky decor and the whole concept of a holiday that was focused on dressing up like your favorite Star Wars character and eating candy.
He also really liked pumpkin spice lattes, shut up Luke, don't drink-shame him.
What Reggie hadn't considered was that fall came with like, wardrobe changes. He pretty much wore the same thing year round, swapping out his black tank top for a black long-sleeved shirt if it got particularly chilly. Luke also refused to wear sleeves for as long as possible, unless he was wearing his Sadness Flannel or trying to impress Julie.
But Julie... Julie was actually stylish. And come October, Julie swapped out her sundresses for... well, other pretty dresses, but in more autumn-y colours. Julie wore cute denim shorts with tights underneath, and really soft sweaters, and had a sweatshirt with a little ghost on it Reggie coveted, and...
And one day, Julie showed up to the studio wearing a flannel... wearing one of his flannels, Luke's gray beanie on top of her unruly curls. And Reggie couldn't help but stare. He could feel his cheeks flush, feel his mouth hanging open, but like, wow.
"Damn, babe, I think you broke Reggie," Luke said, pressing a kiss to her cheek. Julie just preened. From behind his drums, Alex sighed deeply. Like he was one to talk, he'd walked right into a doorpost when he saw Willie wear his pink hoodie that one time.
"You look like a sexy lumberjack," Reggie blurted out, before closing his eyes and cursing himself. Some thoughts should stay inside his brain, and this was definitely one of them.
"Thaaanks? I guess?" Julie said, but she still scrunched her nose and laughed at him, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
And if he maybe stumbled over his chords a little when Julie shared her mic with him, well, she promised not to wear her 'sexy lumberjack outfit' to their next gig, so it was all good.
Hey!
I had this prompt saved into a big document with some others I was hoping to get a chance to write some day, but for the life of me I can't find where it was originally posted from on here to link the person🙈😭....
"I should probably be at home sleeping off this terrible cold, but there's so much to do for the holidays. No, I don't need help."
I thought it might work well for Rooster, with Mav, Penny and the Daggers too maybe coming together to celebrate. No pressure to write at all! I love everything you write so much so I'm happy with anything haha
Oh this sounds like fun, anon! Love it! I’m working on some other fics rn, but hopefully you enjoy this!
I love how Glen’s looking like he’s got his game face on while Miles is considering all of his life choices 😂 we’ve all been there.
"Bradley! Can you do me a favour and hang up those lights?"
"These ones?"
Rooster pulled open the box of fairy lights Penny had left on the bar top and she nodded, smiling at him.
"I think they'd look great around the rafters, are you okay to get them up there?"
"Yeah, I got it."
He staggered as he opened the box, falling into a fit of sneezes. There was a collection of giggles and snorts around the bar from the Daggers, Maverick and Amelia as well as Penny who raised an eyebrow.
"Bless you!"
"It's the- uh. Dust-"
He sneezed again unexpectedly, grimacing as he reached for the napkins tossed on to the bar too.
"C'mon Sneezy, let's get those lights up," Payback said as he wandered over to Rooster. The pair took the lights and began stringing them from the exposed beams. When Rooster couldn't reach he enlisted Bob on to his shoulders, reminiscent of their dogfight football. This time Rooster struggled a little to get him on instead of hefting Bob up easily, wincing as Bob pulled on his shirt a little to get himself up.
"You good?" Phoenix asked Rooster, arms on her hips. She didn't look even slightly serious with the reindeer ears on her head and he grinned at her, admittedly a little forced.
"Great, why?"
"You're looking a little pale."
"Oh, uh, nothing to worry 'bout. M'fine."
"Uh, I know that look," Bob said as he finished zip-tying the lights to the exposed beams.
"What look?" Hangman called out as he walked in. He paused, whistling at Rooster.
"Why the long face? What happened, Mav tell you you can't fly?"
"Bagman! Twenty push ups."
“Yes, sir,” Hangman beamed, pulling his sunglasses off and getting on the ground at Maverick’s instruction.
“I didn’t mean actually- ah, fuck it. Make it forty.”
Jake made a start and everyone laughed, attention off Rooster while they tried to distract Hangman. Bob, still on Rooster’s shoulders, pulled gently at his hair.
“Are you really okay, or are you saying it because Mav and Penny have been so excited for this ever since they started talking about it?”
Damn fucking stealth wizzo-
“No, no Bob, I’m all good. Let’s get you down.”
With some awkward movements, Bob landed on his feet on the ground and Rooster stood back to his full height, wincing as he rubbed the back of his neck. The headache that had been quietly worsening over the last hour was now full force and Rooster decided he couldn’t go the rest of the day without painkillers otherwise he could and would throw up.
-
“Where did Rooster go? I need him to- Daggers!”
Maverick clapped his hands, rolling his eyes when they all put down their beers and leapt up from their spot on one of the Hard Deck couches. Maverick cocked an eyebrow at Bob who put down his Coke too, raising his hands in placating surrender.
“We’re taking a break, pops, we needed refreshments,” Hangman said easily. Maverick rolled his eyes.
“Good for you, kids. Now, has anyone seen Rooster? He’s about 6 foot tall, has a moustache and a rather bitchy attitude sometimes-”
“-I think I saw him go into the bathroom. We have been working since 10am, Mav, it’s nearly 6pm. Give him a minute, or me and Payback can do it for you.”
Maverick’s shoulders relaxed.
“Okay, did you want to take a little more time or just do it now?”
“We can do it now,” Payback said, putting his phone back in his pocket. Hangman, Payback and Maverick all walked out to the back of the bar just in time for Rooster to reappear from the bathroom. His nose was red, and when Phoenix sat down he flopped on top of her with his head in her lap.
“Everything hurts,” he complained.
“Why didn’t you say anything? Let me help,” she said, instinctively running her fingers through his hair.
“I should probably be at home sleeping off this fuckin’ cold, but there’s so much to do for the holidays.”
Rooster pulled himself upright, scrubbing at his face.
“No, I don’t need help.”
“You’re doin’ a great impression of Rudolph there, Roos, really getting into the festive spirit,” Hangman said as he rejoined them, apparently done with helping Maverick and Payback.
“Sit and twist, Bagman, you wouldn’t know festive spirit if it smacked you on the ass,” Phoenix huffed. Jake stretched out on the other couch, raising an eyebrow ever so slightly. When he didn’t respond to Phoenix’s snap she took it to mean he was done being bitchy and instead put her hand on Rooster’s shoulder.
“Do you want to go home? Mav and Penny won’t mind, they want you healthy and safe,” she said. He shrugged her off, getting up from the couch to join Maverick. When Phoenix glared at Hangman, he shrugged.
“What?”
“You’re an asshole; anyone ever tell you that?”
“Surprisingly, yeah, I get it a lot.”
-
“Hey, kid, mind coming and helping with the- Bradley, honey, what’s the matter?”
Penny paused mid-beer pour, reaching over to put her hand to his forehead. When she didn’t find a fever but he still looked like shit, she ran her hand down his back and guided him to a chair behind the bar.
“Talk to me,” she said, flipping her hair off her shoulder to focus on him. Rooster shrugged, scratching at his nose.
“I think I’m sick, I’m really sorry Penny, I know you wanted me all in on this-”
“-Bradley?”
Maverick appeared out of nowhere, skirting around the bar to fuss over his godson too. Rooster swatted at both of them gently, leaning his back against the seat.
“I dunno, just- my head hurts, I can’t keep my eyes open I’m so tired, and- and my throat burns.”
“Roos, why didn’t you say something? God, you should be at home, in bed.”
Maverick’s hand, firm on his back, made everything so much easier and Penny smiled.
“Why don’t you take him home, Pete, make sure he gets into bed okay.”
“Yeah, sounds like a good idea. C’mon Roos, up you get.”
With Maverick as a crutch (perfect height, too), Rooster staggered through the small crowd (it was a Daggers and invitation only night, considering it was Christmas and Penny didn’t feel like kicking assholes other than Jake Seresin out) until he and Mav were outside. In the warm San Diego air, nothing but the stars and the sound of the waves around them, Rooster finally fell to his knees and started coughing, hard enough to gasp for air.
“Shit, kid, I knew this was going to happen.”
Maverick knelt by him, giving his back some firm thumps as the coughing finally died down.
“Not gonna hurl are you?”
“No. Don’t think so.”
Getting his legs back under him, Maverick pulled Rooster back up and wrapped an arm securely around his waist.
“Lean on me, kid, c’mon, that’s it...”
It’s Day 2 of our trip through Emmett, Nikal, Julia, and Einstein Brown’s Newcrest Adventures! Day 2 was three things in the game -- Sunday, the beginning of Spring, and pop-up holiday New Skill Day! Perfect thing to come up when one of your Sims has a New Year’s resolution to learn some new skills, huh? In fact, Emmett went above and beyond -- having developed an interest in painting, he earned another skill point in that to fulfill his resolution, and later got another point in Fitness while out on a jog with Einstein to fulfill the actual holiday! (Because it only counts skills you haven’t progressed very far in, you see. . .)
In addition to all this skilling, though, there was also the matter of practicing some magic! Both Emmett and Nikal weren’t far away from becoming Adept Spellcasters, so I had Emmett practice some practical spells in the kitchen (puddles and mysterious floating glasses to Scruberoo, a broken dishwasher to Repairio), while Nikal used her recently-obtained ingredients to try her hand at making a Potion of Plentiful Needs! As you can tell from that beautiful dark blue liquid in the cauldron, it came out perfectly -- good enough that Nikal did indeed make Adept! As her thing is potion-making, I had her choose the “Blender Arm” (speeds up crafting) and “Frugal Combination” (chance that not all ingredients will be used on a potion) perks. That should make alchemy that much easier in the future!
So yes, good start to the day. Was the rest of it just as good?
