Secrets for the Soul
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 5
“That concludes our meeting for tonight, thank you all for making time to join us.” Announced Batman, finally ending this tortuous l, though necessary meeting. Diana stood from her seat and said her goodbyes intent on getting back to Danny for movie night. If she hurried she could stop and pick up ice cream, her hopes of the frozen treat were dashed however when she was stopped by a hand on her shoulder.
“Diana, a moment of your time?” Batman asked with a gruff voice. Diana silently mourned her ice cream as she smiled back and the two stepped away from the zeta-tubes. “As you are aware, Black Canary is leading the training for the covert team. However Canary brought it to my attention that while Superboy is doing well in his training, he is getting very little experience fighting opponents of an equal or greater power level.” Diana frowned.
“He is the teams biggest heavy hitter, it would do them no good if he were to falter when given a challenge.”
“My thoughts exactly, which is why I would like you to take some time to spar with him. Show him what it means to fight above your level.” Batman nodded,
Diana looked at Batman, skeptical “Wouldn’t Superman be better suited for this task.”
“Things between them are a bit…stained to say the least.” He ground out.
Diana frown, “I would be willing to engage the young one in battle, however Superman needs to figure things out with the boy. He is only a child, he needs guidance.” She said firmly.
“I know your hands are already full, we can work out a schedule at another date however I would like it if you would come by this weekend to meet him.” Diana raised her brow. His eye twitched “Please” he added.
“Now that wasn’t so hard was it? Alfred’s been pestering you about manners again, huh?” She smirked. Batman grunted. “That should be fine, I’ll be there Saturday morning at 10, and Batman? I won’t hold back.” She said with a savage grin.
“I would expect nothing less.” And with that Diana took her leave. It was a short flight from the Zeta point to her apartment, when she arrived Danny looked up from his Mars book.
“You’re late~” He said with a grin “You know what that means. You forfeit your movie choice!” Diana sighed as she went to get changed.
“All right, fair is fair, did you pick up dinner?”Danny nodded as he scrolled through the movie choices.
“Chinese is on the counter, drinks are in the fridge.” He shouted as he set up the movie. “Comedy good?” He asked as she made her way to the fridge.
“Sure.” She replied, opening the fridge she grabbed the drinks sitting next to the chain covered stew labeled ‘Danny’s! Do not touch!’
Grabbing the Chinese she made her way over and plopped herself on the couch. “So what are we watching?”
“Only one of my favorite ghost comedies EVER! The Grudge! It’s hilarious, trust me!” He tilted his head in a picture of innocence. “By the way, why were you late, something wrong with the league?” He inquired, nudging her with his elbow. Diana scoffed.
“We are a team of international vigilantes, something’s always wrong. However, in this case, Batman stopped me to ask a favor. There is a young hero who packs quite a punch, however unlike you he has mostly fought people who are physically equal or weaker than him. He needs to train with someone stronger than him to get used to fighting stronger opponents. I’ll be meeting with him on Saturday morning.” Danny nodded.
“Cool, I’m gonna be hanging out with Travis. We were planning to check out the arcade near his new job.” Diana smiled.
“It’s a pity he left the museum, where did he end up going?”
“He got a job on the boardwalk, at that smoothie shop. Y’know with giant monkey on the window.” Diana nodded.
“They do have good smoothies. Grandfather expects us for dinner that night so don’t stay out too late.”
“Sounds great! Hopefully I can get the recipe for that stew, it’s way better than Lunch Lady’s… don’t tell her I said that.” Diana frowned.
“So long as it doesn’t try to eat my lunch again, my poor sandwich it was so young, so tasty.” She replies dramatically with her hand on her heart. “Now start the movie, I wanna see what passes for ghost comedy.” She passes Danny his mushu pork and he presses play….
Two hours later Danny is asleep on the couch as Diana stares at the tv, reevaluating her definition of humor. Looking down at her peacefully sleeping cousin, she couldn’t be too mad. But she could ask around for the best chick flick she could find as payback.
———————-
Saturday morning came, and as promised Diana made her way to a zeta tube. When she arrived at Mount Justice, Batman was already there and based on their reactions he had already briefed them on todays training. She grinned, this was gonna be fun.
She wasn’t wrong either, they each took turns trying to knock her down, each failing more splendidly than the last. When it came time for Superboy to face her she readied herself to face the strength of Superman.
Unfortunately for Superboy, he did not have the same strength as Superman. Diana had also been regularly sparring with Danny, so her evaluation of his strength might have been a bit…skewed to say the least.
Unfortunately only hindsight is 20/20 and so when Superboy charged she immediately countered with full force, and he went flying across the room. After crash landing Superboy quickly righted himself and started charging her once more. Diana, while impressed at his enthusiasm, frowned at how easy it was to push his buttons. She grabbed her lasso and quickly subdued him. He fought against the bindings, though he had no hope of destroying the magical artifact. Diana released him only when he calmed down. She looked Superboy in the eye with a smile.
"You did very well young one, your warrior's spirit is admirable, however you must use it at the right time. When fighting an opponent that you know is stronger than you, you must used that spirit wisely. Wait until you find an opening before you strike, otherwise your opponent will use that strength against you, as I did."
Superboy clenched his fists and grit his teeth, Diana knew that look well. He was frustrated, her advice was likely akin to something he hears quite often. Diana sighed, "I will not tell you to purge yourself of this spirit as it is a useful tool, one I myself use when fighting overwhelming enemies. It is nothing to be ashamed of. However you must be careful not to be consumed by it. I have known many who let the rush of battle consume them. It has never ended in their favor." she approached Superboy, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"I will work with you on this journey, young one, so that you may learn as I did." she said with a smile.
Superboy looked surprised "Seriously? Why? What do you get out of this?" Diana laughed
"What else?! I want a proper rematch! You have impressive strength, I would like to see what you can do with it with a little extra training, young one." Superboy looked her in the eye for a moment before looking to the side.
"My name is Conner." he said with a blunt tone. "And...thank you."
"It's my pleasure Conner, now come, our time today is short let's see who else wants to try their might."
She turned back to see Kid Flash slowly inch behind Artemis. She gave a predatory grin, "It seems we have a volunteer!"
-------------------------
Meanwhile...
Danny woke up with his alarm at noon, and couldn't help but revel in the amount of sleep he got, a whole eight hours. He briefly considered snuggling back into the world's comfiest, and coldest, comforter, gifted to him by Frostbite. He slowly closed his eyes before his second alarm went off reminding him that he does in fact have to get up, as he has plans today.
He dragged himself out of bed, still wrapped in his comforter, and made his way to the kitchen. After starring into the fridge for roughly five minutes, as though it held the secrets of the universe... or poptarts, he grinned and grabbed his leftover stew. Pouring some into a bowl and reheating it, he slowly made his way to the table to savor his blob ghost stew. He jumped only a little when his phone started blaring once more, he scrunched his nose before looking at the caller ID. It was Travis. Danny sighed, it was too early to talk.
"Hnnghh?" The sound of laughter exploded from the other end.
"I'm sorry sleeping beauty, did I wake you?" Danny released a massive yawn.
"Nah, mm jus eatin breakfst? Wazzup?" He mumbled, watching the tiny blobs swim around in his stew with half-lidded green eyes.
"Hey I ran into a buddy of mine, mind if he tags along?" Danny scooped out a particularly plump blob and took a bite.
"Hmmm" Travis laughed.
"I'm gonna take that as a yes. We'll meet you at Café Loco before we head to the arcade, you sound like you need it. Were you up playing video games again last night?" Danny once more responded with a noncommittal, “hmmm” because no he was not playing video games. He was flying invisibly around the city and lost track of time, who wouldn't it was beautiful.
“Alright man, I’ll let you get back to you’re breakfast. See ya soon.” And the call ended.
Danny put his phone back down and finished eating before he started getting ready for the day. He threw on some jeans and a t-shirt, taking a moment to consider the jacket. His core would keep him cold, normally he wouldn’t bother but…. He sighed grabbing the jacket. Being a teen hero left him with more than a few scars, Travis was led to believe he got them in the accident that killed his “parents” but this new guy… it would be annoying to explain again, best avoid it entirely.
He grabbed his wallet and headed out, walking down the street he greeted familiar faces, stopping to pet Mrs. Perkins’ dog as he made his way to the bus stop. It wasn’t a long ride, and when he arrived he clambered out of the bus. Heading towards Cafe Loco like a beacon in a storm. He beelined it to the counter, nearly crying at the lack of a line as he ordered his cappuccino with 4 shots of espresso.
Travis found him huddled in a corner booth, curled around his coffee, watching people pass by. He saw a perfect opportunity and slowly snuck up to the booth, he was inches away from tugging the earbuds out of his ears when Danny suddenly turned his head to look him directly in the eyes. Travis jumped back with a shout, Danny took a long sip of his coffee, the stranger next to Travis covered his mouth trying his best not to laugh.
“Why is it so hard to scare you?! I swear this guy has eyes in the back of his head!” At this point the guy next to him scoffed.
“Or he saw your reflection in the window.” He said, pointing at the offending surface.
“Who’s side are you on?!” The stranger shrugged and Danny chuckled.
“I don’t think pointing out the obvious counts as taking sides. Your Travis’ friend right? I’m Danny, nice to meet ya.” He said, the other guy smiled.
“I’m Matt, nice to meet ya. Is the coffee here any good?” Danny nodded, pulling his coffee closer.
“It’s okay at best, he just likes it because they don’t limit his espresso shots because he bribes them.”
“It’s not consider a bribe of it goes in the tip jar.” He said with a wide grin. Matt blushed.
“Oh really, I’ll have to try that.” He coughed into his hand. “So, uh, you said we were going to the arcade.”
“Hell yeah! You said it had all kinds of new and retro games! Plus desktop gaming! Let’s go!” Danny stood from his seat. While he may never reach the overwhelming height of Jack Fenton, Danny had grown to be a respectable 5’10. He was quite proud of this fact though he didn’t think of it too much, considering his cousin was over 6’. But still he wasn't that tall, right? Danny thought,
'So why the hell did Matt just look at him like he was 10 feet tall? Sure the guy wasn't huge, but he wasn't exactly short either.'
Matt backed up just a bit, rubbing the back of his neck and looking away, "Yeah, let's get going before it get's too crowded." Danny downed the rest of his coffee and they headed out. Along the way they started talking about the upcoming school year, as it turned out Matt would be joining him as a junior at Gateway High.
Despite Travis' not so subtle diversions, Matt eventually made a rookie mistake. He asked what Danny wanted to do when he graduated. For the next hour Danny went on and on about how he wanted to build space ships, and how amazing space is, and did you read the Daily Planet interview with Martian Manhunter?!
Not to say Danny ran out of things to say about space after an hour, especially when Matt was giving him his full attention even when they got to the arcade and started playing. No, as someone who worked with Danny until his parents made him quit, Travis knew EXACTLY how long winded Danny could be when it came to space so he did the only thing that could distract him from space. He brought up his cousin.
"So I here your cousin is single and ready to mingle, according to Mrs. Doris, you think if I gave her my number I'd have a chance?" Travis wiggled his eyebrows. Danny looked at him as though he just said he put jelly on a tuna sandwich.
"Dude first of all, you're like 17 it's not gonna happen, second of all, and I cannot stress this enough, she is way out of your league." Travis pouted as Matt laughed at his suffering, not knowing his sacrifice.
"Ahh whatever man, let's just play. I hear there's this new game added to the online corner. Something called Doomed?" Danny froze, slowly turning to face Travis.
"Did you say Doomed?" his eyes were wide.
"Yeah? Have you-" Danny grabbed both teens by the arm and dragged them over to the desktops. Over the next few hours, the three of them made characters and a crowd gathered as Danny dominated level after level. Eventually though his alarm went off, reminding him to head home for dinner. After they said their goodbyes, Danny took off leaving Matt and Travis alone.
"Don't even think about it." Travis said, Matt tensed.
"He has single handedly increased the foot traffic in the space exhibit from the sheer amount of people who come to flirt with him. Him and his cousin are next level man." Matt's face turned a fiery red. Travis looked at him with pity. "If it makes you feel better, he has yet to actually say yes to anyone. To be fair though, I don't think he realizes their flirting when he's in space mode." Travis shrugs.
Matt nearly wept.
---------------
Danny dug into the lasagna with extreme gusto, while Diana ate at a much more restrained pace as she ate her second helping.
"You've outdone yourself, grandfather. Dinner is absolutely divine." Diana complemented the elderly (at the moment) Ancient. He gave her a proud smile.
"I should hope so, I got this recipe from Naples in the 15th century, from a lovely family of noodle makers. I tweaked it a bit based on it's evolution, I'm quite proud of how it turned out." he said with a grin as his form shifted to that of a young man. "But enough of that, how was your day today? I know you were planning on training the young Kryptonian clone today, how did that go?" grinning, Diana raised a brow, Danny perked up.
"Have you been spying on us grandfather?" Danny laughed.
"He's always spying on us, trust me. But who cares, what was that about a clone?" Diana sighed, resigned.
"Conner is a clone of Superman. Normally it would be his responsibility to train him, however he has been a bit... reluctant to interact with the boy." Danny scrunched up his nose.
"Did he try to kill him yet?" Diana looked at Danny, surprised.
"Superman may object to training him but I assure you he has not intent-" Danny waved his hands.
"No, no, not Superman. Did Conner try to kill him yet, it's like, a clone rite of passage." Diana stared at Danny. Danny stared back.
Clockwork drank his tea, fully aware of what he started.
"I'm gonna need a little more explanation than that." Danny shrugged
"I mean, he's gotta try to kill his original at some point. Just to get it out of his system y'know. My clone didn't last a full day before she tried to kill me." Danny shrugged, taking another bite of his lasagna.
Diana gave him a look like she was praying to the gods for patience, honestly she probably was, before she finally responded.
"When exactly were you cloned?" Danny shrugged.
"When I was like, 14 I think. I know it was after I met gramps, now that is a crazy story." Diana took a deep breath.
"We can get to that later, can we focus on the clone that tried to kill you? Please?" Danny set down his fork on his now clean plate.
"I guess, there's not really much to tell. My dad's best friend, who hated him by the way, wanted me to be his son because we were the only existing halfas, he's not technically he's more alive than he is dead, and because he was in love with my mom, she despised him, I told him no when he repeatedly demanded for me to join him, of course not he's a fruitloop, so he cloned me, a couple times actually but none of them were stable so they destabilized, and Ellie, the only stable clone, posed as my cousin, she is now kinda, and when my back was turned she tried to kill me. It's cool though, she realized Vlad was a fruitloop and we beat him up." he shrugged. "Like I said, there's really not much to tell." he explains before he starts to sneak over to the cookie jar.
Diana looked over at her grandfather, "What?" he nodded in symathy.
"I understand it's a lot to take in, however I assure you any future murder attempts perpetuated by young Ellie are completely harmless. She spends most of her time these days exploring the realms or spending time with Pandora." Clockwork explained.
Diana sighed turning to Danny "And you were okay with this? Being cloned by your enemy."
Danny swallowed his bite "Oh, hell no. I was pissed. Not only did he violate my privacy, he stole my DNA! He made a kid to replace me! So I kicked his ass and stole my clone." Diana looked to the heavens for advice, Clockwork set a hand on her shoulder.
"The gods will be no help when it comes to things like this. Trust me." he smiled. "And how was your day Danny? Did you have fun making friends?" Danny grinned.
"Definitely! He let me blather on about space!" Diana's eyes went wide.
'Dear gods, not another one.'

Tumblr media
“Nope,” Matt shook his head as you stepped inside the shop, looking at you from behind the counter. “You can’t bring those in here.”
You rolled your eyes playfully, setting the small Mason jar of flowers down on the glass case that held a variety of glittering body jewelry. “They’re flowers, Matt. Not a bomb.”
“Don’t care, didn’t ask. Plus, they ruin the look.” Matt kept his eyes trained on whatever he was looking at on his laptop, but you could see a small smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth.
“You’re so grumpy,” You tsked, maneuvering yourself behind the counter and peering over his shoulder. “Whatcha doin’?”
Matt sighed, running his hands through his hair and spinning himself around in his chair to look at you. “This dude keeps changing his fucking design even though he’s put his deposit down. And guess what? His appointment’s tomorrow,” he sighed again, brushing a hand across his nose. “Fuck, I forgot that’s a new piercing.”
Your face dropped into a pout at Matt’s stress. You had known him since freshman year when you had become friends with Chris and the other two triplets by extension. Although you didn’t see all the inner workings of Matt’s mind, you knew that he struggled with anxiety and stress. A particular instance at Six Flags during your sophomore year had told you that much.
“Let’s see the design,” You offered, filling up a paper cup from the water jug behind the counter. “I’m sure there’s something we can do to make him happy.”
“What? Give him the tattoo for free and then change once it’s already on his body?” Matt raised a brow at you as you poured the water into the jar of flowers.
“You’re such a pessimist, Matt,” You shook your head, placing the now-full jar of flowers next to his computer. “If it helps take away the awful, vile sight of big, scary flowers, these are the outcasts. Their stems were too short and a few of them are missing some petals. They’re the rejects.”
Owning a florist’s shop had been your dream ever since you were a little girl. You had been captivated by flowers since the day your granny had taken you into her expertly tended garden, leading you around and telling you all the meanings for the different plants. In a way, it almost felt like you were carrying on her legacy by owning such a dainty, girly shop that sold her favorite things. Maybe she wouldn’t have liked the fact that your shop was directly across the street from an all black tattoo and piercing parlor that just so happened to be owned by your best friend’s brother, but she definitely would’ve liked the aesthetic of your business.
You drew yourself out of your thoughts, pulling up the chair of another piercer who had left earlier in the day. “Let’s see what we’re working with.”
Matt moved a few things around on his laptop, opening up Procreate and clicking onto a design. In your opinion, it was absolutely gorgeous. The tall oak tree in the drawing had large branches that extended outwards, but instead of leaves, the tree held clocks that were all stuck at midnight. Underneath the actual drawing was the carefully lettered sentence ‘Until Time Stops’ in swirly letters that matched the chains of the clocks.
“That’s beautiful,” You said softly, your eyes entranced by the drawing. “It’s…wow, it’s gorgeous.”
“I think so too.” Matt mumbled, clearly more lost in his artistic mind than here with you.
This reminded you of the nights during high school sleepovers. Chris and Nick would pass out early, leaving just you and Matt. You both struggled with insomnia, so some nights you would both stay up, pouring over the brunette’s sketchbook together while Matt explained each and every drawing in great detail to you. You had noticed that, similar to you, Matt had an eye for the natural world. You’d never brought this notice up to him of course, but you often thought about it during the early morning hours when you were doing opening duties in the shop while waiting for your employees to arrive.
“But he doesn’t like it, so it’s a scrap,” Matt shrugged, closing out the application and leaning back in his chair, eyes closed. “God, I’m fucking tired.”
You sighed sympathetically, hopping out of the chair. “I understand. I guess I’d want something I really like if it’s going on my body permanently. Doesn’t mean it isn’t annoying, though.” You acknowledged, bustling around behind the counter as you stacked papers up, put pens back in their cups, and locked the jewelry case.
“I get that you like flowers and animals and shit, but you don’t have to do that. You’re not Cinderella. I’ll do it later.” he sighed.
“Later? Matt, it’s almost nine,” the only reason you had come into the shop in the first place was because you had finished cleaning and locking your own store rather early and had seen Matt sitting behind the counter. “You need to go home and eat and sleep. A) You gotta be hungry and B) No offense, but I wouldn’t want someone who’s sleep deprived to be giving me a tattoo or piercing.” You joked, bumping his shoulder lightly.
As if on cue, Matt’s stomach growled audibly, making him fidget with embarrassment, but not so much that he couldn’t open one blue eye to glare at you. “Says you. How many times have you gotten Astrids and Hydrangeas mixed up because you stayed up all night reading.” the brunette chuckled to himself, remembering the time that you had employed the triplets’ help to create a brand new bouquet less than an hour before a certain bridezilla’s wedding.
“Now that’s not fair and you know it.” You huffed.
“Is too.”
“Is not.”
“Is too.” Matt insisted, smirking triumphantly once he saw you sigh in defeat.
“You’re annoying,” You grumbled. “I like Chris much better.”
“Sure ya do, sweetheart.” Matt didn’t even look in your direction as he closed his laptop, shoving it into his black tote bag.
Something about the way Matt said such a simple sentence had you fighting your blush, grabbing your own bag that you had sat down earlier. You tried to ignore the funny feeling in your stomach, fiddling with your phone while Matt finished the tasks you hadn’t completed. “You think Nick and Chris would kill me if I brought pizza over instead of their elaborate orders from five different restaurants?” You asked, eager to move your mind away from the implication of his words.
“You’re coming over?” Matt turned to look at you, an expression you couldn’t read on his face.
“Nick invited me. You know we don’t see each other as much as we did when we were kids. I miss our sleepovers.” You smiled softly.
Matt’s eyes crinkled with nostalgia. “Yeah, I remember that. They were kind of nice, I guess.”
“You guess? Wow, way to treat us like chumps. You got a girlfriend you’d rather be hanging out with or something?”
“No.” it was a single word, yet the boy’s tone changed from one of fondness to something much deeper and almost angrier.
“I’m sorry, I…” You trailed off, studying him as he picked up his bag, trying not to focus on the tattoos that snaked down his muscular arms and connected to the chunky, silver rings on his fingers. “I didn’t mean to hit a sore subject.” Even though you two were close, you knew Matt didn’t tell you everything about his life.
“Let’s just go, okay? I’m sure the ruffians are hungry.” he grumbled, walking towards the door.
You scrambled after your friend, each of his broad steps equaling four of yours. “They’re not so bad.”
“That’s because you don’t live with them,” Once you were both outside, Matt turned and locked the door to the shop behind him. “Trust me, when Chris burps in your face for the fiftieth time that day, it gets less funny and more annoying. Do you have a ride?”
“...no…” You admitted.
“Can no one in my life get their license?” Matt sighed, not even waiting for you as he started the trek to his car.
“Actually,” You corrected him, practically jogging to keep up. “I have my license. I’m just saving for a car.”
You believed city transportation was a perfectly valid form for getting from point A to point B, but as you slid into the passenger seat of Matt’s car, you couldn’t help but to admit that having your own personal vehicle was a much nicer alternative. Matt pulled out of the parking space without speaking, but you could feel his warm presence beside you in the car. As he migrated the car through the narrow city streets, you found yourself wondering what your life would be like if this is how every single day went for you. You knew Matt would drive you home in the evenings if you asked, but a part of you wanted to keep the rare occasion of rides together just that. Rare, special, something seemingly so mundane that it was almost silly you were even thinking about this.
Time spent alone with Matt was rare, despite working across the street from each other. Between being a triplet and your friendship with Chris, the one-on-one actions were few and far between. But for some reason, on nights like tonight, when you thought about how he interacted with you, you wished that you could make them happen over and over and over again.

Hello! I really enjoy your LaDS writings!
I was wondering if you can do a headcanon with Caleb or Rafayel with a workaholic and burnt out reader?
Thank you so much!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: Dear Anon-san, Thank you so much for requesting <3 For this one, I went with Caleb because I already made something similar to the prompt for Rafayel, where he soothes a stressed out reader (though the reason why she's being like that isn't because of work). You can read it here. I really do enjoy writing for Caleb since we haven't seen many of his story yet in the game. I hope you are content with this story too. On a side note, I've recently got a few requests about a stressful or burnt out reader. I just wanna make sure my readers are doing alright out there <3 Sending you mental support right here through the fics I write <3

You came home when the clock struck twelve. The night was quiet, only the sound of your tired footsteps echoed in the empty hallway. After what seemed like an endless journey, you finally reached your apartment.
You unlocked the door. A soft glow from within illuminated the corridor. Since you left early in the morning, you did not recall leaving the light on. You let out a long sigh and felt guilty for being forgetful.
Yet, in the house there were not only lights, but also the delicious smell of food. How strange! How peculiar! You felt your weariness leave your mind as it was replaced by vigilance. Was there another person in the house?
You tiptoed to the kitchen, where the aroma of food made your stomach rumble. Then, you saw a very familiar figure. Fortunately, you were able to contain your joy and instead called his name quietly:
“Caleb?!”
He turned around, nodded and smiled at you. “You're back just now? Wash your face first and we'll have dinner."
You rubbed your eyes. Was it because you're so tired that you're daydreaming?
“Caleb? Is that really you?”
A soup was cooking on the kitchen counter as Caleb departed. Reaching over, he put his hand on top of your head.
“Are you expecting another man then?”
You immediately shook your head. Your hands reached up to wrap around Caleb's wrist and untangle it from your hair before he patted your head again like a child.
“No way! I'm just surprised to see you here, at this hour... Aren't you busy with your mission at Skyhaven?”
"Everything went smoothly. So now I'll take a few days off."
“Why didn't you tell me you're coming? I thought the apartment was being robbed..."
Caleb reached out and pinched your cheek. It was painful. He said:
“What kind of thief would help you clean up this messy apartment and even cook for you because they knew you got off work this late?”
You rubbed the cheek that had just been pinched and frowned. “You don't need to pinch it so hard.”
Caleb laughed. He told you to quickly go inside to wash up and get changed while he finished cooking the soup. You obediently followed. How joyful it is to get home after a hectic day and see the one you love.  All of a sudden, you forgot how tired you were after the long day.
The two of you had a simple meal. Caleb said that since it was late, you shouldn't eat too much. He observed you as you were enjoying your food. He had taken care of the apartment, made a trip to the grocery store and prepared your meal all day. What surprised and delighted you the most, though, was the fact that he was here. You had given Caleb a spare key a long time ago, but to be honest, you never thought he would pay a surprise visit. Due to work, you both had to live in two cities far apart.
After dinner, you threw yourself on the sofa and grabbed your laptop. Caleb got you a cup of warm water, then used his Evol to take the device out of your hands.
“I still have a report to finish…”
You wanted to get your laptop back, but Caleb turned it off and put it aside. "That's something you can't do right now." He stated. “Do you know what time it is? Shouldn't you be in bed? There are dark circles around your eyes.”
He used a finger to poke the thin skin below your eyes. It must be dark by now and somewhat made you look like a panda. You grimaced:
“Don't mess around, Caleb. I have a ton of work to get done.”
“I'm not messing with you either.” Caleb had a solemn expression. “You've been working hard for many days. Now you need to rest. I'm here to make sure of that.”
You let out a sigh. You were drawn into Caleb's embrace. Maybe he was right— you need to rest. Yet, the notion of the incomplete task made you feel quite uncomfortable.
You were a workaholic, and Caleb knew it. He therefore needed to be even more committed to getting you to give up the laptop.
“You're always working. It's hard to find some spare time with you." Caleb whispered as he rested his head on your hair.
You admitted you were a bit neglectful of Caleb, but that's because your job required extra work and concentration.
“I had to text Tara to find out you got off work at midnight.” Cale went on. “If you read the message, you'd know I've been here since noon.”
You raised up. At that time, you hurriedly reached for the phone on the table. As you opened it, you saw a series of messages and missed calls from Caleb.
“Oh… I'm really sorry…” You mumbled. “I really don't know where I left my phone…”
Caleb rubbed your shoulder, then pulled you back to the original position, leaning on his lap. "No problem. It's the price I pay for dating a girl who loves her job more than me."
You giggled as you pressed your face against his neck and gave him a breath tickle.
“I already apologized.”
He put his arms around your waist and gave you a gentle squeeze. Only when you were in his arms, listening to his heart beat, feeling his warmth and subtle scent, and only then could you stop acting tough. You could burst into tears. You could let the weight and pressure of work fall on your shoulders. For you knew, he would fight against the world with you.
Only then did you face your physical and mental fatigue and acknowledge that you were just too exhausted to handle everything at once.
“If you're truly sorry,” Caleb's monotone voice rang out as you gradually drifted off to sleep in his arms. “Then you must let me have you this whole weekend, okay?”

Delta Landscaping | Chapter 6: Jeeps, Texts, and Sliders
Tumblr media
Series Summary: In this AU, the boys of Delta Force start a new business post-Colombia.
Series Masterlist
Rating: Explicit (18+)
Word Count: 6.3k
Chapter Summary: We replay the day after Melissa’s party from the perspective of a couple of other characters before moving on.
Chapter Warning: A little smutty (fingering). Also a gray sweatpants reference (IYKYK). Reminder, I don’t have a beta for this, so any mistakes are all mine.
A/N: Many were curious about what Pope was up to so we’ll find out. Plus, a little bit of Katie and Will. Thanks to @trulybetty for a suggestion for one of the scenes! There are also a few Spanish phrases thrown in (for those who don't know, I'm Cuban-American, so the Hispanic references and characters throughout this story are particularly special to me). I have not included translations in text, but if you're curious I'm happy to translate anything!
David: Everyone alive and well?
Megan: I'm getting too old for this but it was a lot of fun. Right Katie 👀
Olivia: OMG Katie, Will is so hot! Please tell me you made out with him last night!
Katie: Hate to disappoint you Liv, but I didn't.
David: BOOOOO
Megan: Right?!
Katie: 🙄
Katie: Well, I will have you know that he's coming over for lunch today.
David: Oh he'll be coming alright 💦
Ty: LUCILLE IS ON THIS CHAT 🤦🏽‍♂️
Lucille: 😂
Olivia: Get it girl!!
David: Melissa? Earth to Melissa … are you there?
Ty: She's probably showing Danny how much she's gonna miss him. Two weeks is a long time 😏
________________
"Babe, do you know where my laptop charger is?" Danny frantically busted into the kitchen as Melissa fixed herself a coffee.
"It's right here," she pointed at the charger lying on the kitchen island.
"Oh shit, right in front of me. What time is it?" He looked at the clock on the oven which read 7:40 a.m. "Ok, Rodgers should be here by 8 so we can carpool to the airport."
"Nice, have everything packed?"
"Yup with the charger I have everything…and I still have some time to spare." He came around to where Melissa was standing, her back to him. He placed his arms around her on the counter, boxing her in. "How should we spend the time?" He nuzzled his head into her neck.
"It seems like you have an idea there captain," she felt a shiver down her spine as Danny started trailing kisses from under her ear, down her neck. "Baby, we don't have time," she giggled.
"I've done more with less time, you know that," his hand descended underneath the waistband of her sleep shorts, pushing her panties aside as his fingers dipped into her core. "Plus, it seems like you're already ready for me."
"Babe, mhmm, what's gotten into you," Melissa giggled as Danny collected some of her arousal and moved to slowly circle her clit.
"I'm gonna be gone for two weeks, I'll miss you. You gonna miss me?"
He trailed his fingers through her folds, teasing her a bit before pushing two fingers into her heat, the heel of his palm giving just enough friction as she bucked into it.
"Y-yea, I," Melissa mewled as she threw her head back, resting it on Danny's shoulder as he helped work her through the waves of her release. She turned in his arms, giving him a kiss. "Of course, I'm going to miss you. Two weeks is a long time," she pouted.
"I know, I'll be back before you know it. You'll go out with D and Ty and I'm sure the crew will get together, you'll keep yourself busy." He kissed her again and looked at the clock before giving a small fist pump. "And I still had five minutes to spare."
"Oh my gosh, you are ridiculous," Melissa laughed.
"Ah shit before I forget, could you go get an oil change for the Jeep while I'm gone?"
"Yeah, sure."
"And, not to be difficult, but could you take it to a different place? I know the guy at the last place ripped us off. Maybe check and see where Will takes his? I meant to ask him yesterday but forgot."
"Ok, yeah I'll head over there today to go ask him."
Honk
"That's Rodgers, gotta go. I'll text you when I make it to the hotel."
"Ok, I love you."
"Love you too."
After a quick kiss goodbye, Danny was off. Melissa watched as he got into his coworker's car, waving to both of them as they left.
"Two weeks," she sighed.
She checked her phone for the first time all morning and laughed as she caught up on the group chat.
Melissa: I’ll have you all know that Danny wished me a very nice goodbye as he left! 😉
David: Get it mama!
Olivia: You and Danny are just the cutest! 😍
Originally Melissa planned to take the day off to spend it wedding planning with David and Ty, but because of her recent cancellations, she now had the whole day free. So, she decided to be productive and clean the house. She changed out of her pajamas into a workout set, grabbed her headphones, turned on a Spotify station, and started picking things up.
Before she knew it, it was nearly lunchtime and the house was spotless. She made herself a salad and sat down on the couch to relax. When she finished, she walked over to the kitchen to put her bowl in the sink and saw Danny's keys on the counter.
"Shit, let me go ask Will before I forget."
She slipped on her shoes and headed out of the house, putting more pep in her step once she realized Will was home, seeing his Jeep parked in his driveway.
___________
When it came to sleeping, Santiago could sleep all day and still get a full eight hours at night. It drove the guys crazy, especially Will, but Santiago always rationalized it saying he was making up for all of the sleep that he was robbed of when they served.
This morning after Frankie's alarm went off Santiago was in no mood to get up, especially because he really had nowhere to be. Since getting back from his adventures around the globe, he hadn't been able to focus on what he wanted to do next. Helping Benny and Will with their new house was the only thing he really had that brought him a sense of purpose.
He slept like a rock after Frankie left and didn't wake up until a little after 11. He got up and sat on the side of the bed, rubbing his eyes. The house was quiet and as he padded out to the living room and saw no sign of Benny or Will.
His phone buzzed and he saw a series of missed texts from the guys. He gathered that Benny and Connor were at the gym and should be back soon. Will was out to pick up lunch for Katie before going over to her house and Frankie went to his meeting before heading to the airfield.
Santiago’s stomach grumbled so he opened the refrigerator pouting when he saw very few options. The boys had relied on Lucille for many of their recent meals, along with anything Frankie felt compelled to make. Thankfully, Benny always had a supply of sugary cereals in the pantry so he poured himself a bowl of Lucky Charms and sat at the dining room table.
A little while later he heard Will's Jeep rumble up the driveway. He waited for a second but when his friend didn't walk through the front door he decided to peer out through the window and saw Will making his way quickly down the sidewalk to Katie's house.
"Good luck," he smirked to himself.
He was about to head back into the room to throw a shirt on when he heard the doorbell ring. The guys didn't mention anything about someone dropping by so he again looked out the window, his stomach doing a flip when he saw Melissa standing at the front door.
She was dressed in navy blue high-waisted workout pants and a cropped racerback top of the same color, just a sliver of her skin showing. Her hair was in a ponytail and with a pair of silver-rimmed sunglasses perched atop her head.
Without thinking twice, he opened the door with a smirk, knowing she was going to be surprised to see him. Her jaw dropped and there was a sharp intake of breath as her eyes traced up and down his exposed torso. “S-Santiago! I, uh, I…is Will here?”
“No, he’s over at Katie’s, it’s just me.” He rubbed the back of his neck and then played with the silver chain around his neck.
“Oh, ah, ok. Well, never mind, didn’t mean to bother you.” She started to walk away.
“Sure there’s not something I could help you with?” He leaned against the doorframe.
“I was coming over here to ask Will for advice on an oil change.”
“An oil change?” His brows furrowed.
“Yeah, uh, Danny wanted me to get a…can you put a shirt on please?” She chewed her bottom lip as she nervously laughed.
Santiago smirked, “Sure, one sec. You can come in if you want.” He left the door open as he sauntered back to the spare room he and Frankie shared whenever they crashed.
Melissa timidly crossed the threshold, keeping the door open as she watched Santiago retreat into a room. He popped back just a moment later pulling a plain black T-shirt over his head.
“Can you concentrate better now?” He teased.
She rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the way the corners of her mouth turned up. “Like I was saying, Danny asked me to go get an oil change done on his Jeep while he was gone. Problem is, the guy we took it to last time was kind of a jerk and wanted to charge us for a bunch of stuff it didn’t need. I know Will has a Jeep, so I was curious where he goes.”
“Well, Will and Benny are the types of guys who do their oil changes themselves, Fish too for that matter.”
“What about you? You don’t like to get your hands dirty?” Now she was the one who leaned against the doorframe.
“Funny,” he gave her an up and down. “I do, just not with that. I know a guy, wanna go now?”
“Uh, like now now? Aren’t you…do any of you guys work?” She crossed her arms giving him a cheeky grin.
“We’re retired,” he said with a tight-lipped smile. “Besides, I could ask you the same question seeing as you’re here in the middle of the day.”
She shifted her weight onto one leg, putting her hand on her hip. “Well, for your information, I took the day off.”
“So you have time to do the oil change now then, huh? C’mon let’s go.” He grabbed his phone and wallet off the coffee table and headed out.
“You…wha-” Melissa stammered, frozen in place and unsure what to do.
“Vamos princesa.”
Santiago led the way back over to her house so she could grab the keys to the Jeep.

Lucille was driving back from the grocery store when she spotted Melissa and Santiago walking back toward Melissa’s house. She noticed them yesterday at the party, especially the lingering glances they each gave when the other wasn’t looking. Lucille made a mental note to bring this up to Francisco the next time she saw him.

The drive over to the auto shop was pleasant, Melissa laughing at Santiago as he told some grandiose story. When they arrived, he got out and spoke to the mechanic, Enrique, who was not subtle in the way he checked Melissa out.
Santiago admonished him and let Enrique know she spoke Spanish, in case he tried to say anything that was out of pocket. The man gave Santiago a hard time about dropping by unannounced but after a few moments of tense negotiations, he acquiesced and said he needed about an hour to get it done.
“Wanna get a coffee or something while we wait? There’s a good spot for Cuban coffee up a couple of blocks, we can walk.”
“Ok, yeah sure.”
As they walked over Santiago noticed Melissa fiddling with her engagement ring. “So, when’s the big day?”
“Ha, isn’t that the question of the year?”
“Sorry, didn’t mean to...”
“No, no, it’s ok. I…just…I don’t know. It’s a lot of pressure. Have you ever been married?”
“No,” he answered quickly. “No, I haven’t.”
“Not even engaged?”
“I know, hard to believe,” he smirked. “No, ah the other guys have kind of scared me off of that if I’m honest,” he blushed as he rubbed the back of his neck.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I don’t want to spill all of their secrets but…Will…he was engaged. Great girl, hell I was the one who introduced them. But he, he was dealing with some shit, hell we all were, and she was as supportive as she could be but she got to a breaking point and called things off. Then there’s Benny. The poor kid has had some shit luck. He almost proposed, had a ring and everything, and then, well, he didn’t get to do that. And Fish,” he sighed. “That shit was complicated from the beginning,” he nervously chuckled.
“Wow, sounds like you’ve all dealt with some stuff, huh?”
“Yea, only one of us who actually ever got married was T-...uh, yea, you can say we’ve dealt with some stuff.”
As they arrived at the coffee shop, Santiago opened the door for Melissa. Neither of them said anything as they looked at the menu.
“Know what you want?”
“Uh, yeah, I think so.”
Santiago lightly put his hand on the small of her back, guiding her toward the register as he followed. When she placed her order, he quickly placed his and handed the barista his card.
“Santiago, you don’t have to do that! You’re doing me a favor,” she laughed.
He playfully rolled his eyes at her as he took his card back, tapping the screen to leave a tip.
Once they settled into a table with their drinks, Melissa eyed Santiago. She wanted to follow up on their earlier discussion but was unsure how to do it. He clearly wanted to skirt past his own story in favor of that of his friends.
“Have something on your mind?” He finally broke the silence.
“You said the other guys scared you off…do you…d’you think you’ll ever get married?”
“Ah…well, I don’t know. I don’t want to say never, but I guess I’m not really looking for that right now,” he looked into her eyes and then focused his gaze down to his coffee cup, fiddling with the sleeve. “Are you excited to get married?”
“Uh….” Melissa fidgeted in her chair as she brushed her fingers through the end of her ponytail.
“I’ll take the lack of an immediate yes as a no?”
“It’s…complicated.”
“Well, I’m all ears,” he leaned back in his chair, looking her over.
“It’s just…Danny and I have been together for a long time. I love him, I really do, I just…I don’t know I feel like life has been kind of set for me rather than me like, I don’t know, making my own choices? That probably makes no sense, I’m making no sense,” she started to ramble.
“Hey,” he reached over and grabbed her hand. “You don’t have to have it all figured out.”
“I know, but it’s like everyone else has a timeline and expectations for me. I’m going to turn 30 in a couple of months and then I’m going to start getting more shit about my biological clock and…”
“Wait, you’re not even 30 yet?” Santiago coughed.
“No…”
“Oh, sorry, I just. I knew you were younger I just didn’t realize how much.”
“Well, how old are you?”
“It starts with a 4 and that’s all you need to know,” he smirked as she giggled.
“Ok viejo, so tell me, you’ve never had a serious relationship then?”
Santiago shifted in his seat before leaning forward, both forearms on the table. “I did, one. I’ve had one, although if you ask the guys they’ll tell you it’s more, but it was really just Sofia. But it uh, obviously, didn’t work out,” he gave a small tight smile. “It’s kind of a telenovela situation,” he laughed.
“Ha.”
The conversation quickly shifted to them chatting about the other guys, Santiago sharing some funny stories about each of them and Melissa laughed so hard she was almost crying. They both lost track of how much time had passed before Santiago’s phone rang and he saw it was Enrique calling to let him know the car was done.
“Time to head back princesa!” He tapped the table, getting up to pull her chair out.
Once they got the car, Melissa asked where he wanted her to drop him off. He said that Frankie’s house would be fine and directed her to the house. When she parked in the driveway, he hesitated for a moment before he got out.
“Hey, thanks for helping me out today, Danny is going to be so happy to hear I found a new spot.”
“You’re welcome, and if Enrique tries to give him a hard time in the future you call me ok,” he laughed.
“Sure,” she smiled as he started to get out. “Wait! Um…I…I don’t have your number. You know, in case he gives me a hard time.” She smirked as she handed him her phone.
“Right,” he took it and punched in his number, sending himself a text so he had hers.
“Well, see you later Santiago.”
______________________
Santiago had just cracked open a beer when he heard Frankie walk into the house from the garage.
“Fuck, you scared the shit out of me!” Frankie jumped when he turned the corner and saw Santiago. “You didn’t answer your phone, Will and Benny hadn’t heard from you… I was getting ready to go looking for you.”
“Sorry, I was busy, I didn’t want to be on my phone.”
“Hmm…ok,” Frankie took the beer Santiago offered him. “Busy doing what?”
“Stuff.”
Frankie laughed, “You know I know you better than anyone, so if you’re going to try and hide some shit from me you need to do a better job of it. I know all of your tells.”
Santiago rolled his eyes and leaned against the counter, “Fine. But don’t get how you get.” Frankie put his hands up in surrender. “I was with Melissa…but not like that. I helped her with an oil change.”
Frankie narrowed his eyes as he took a swig from his beer. “That’s what we’re calling it these days? An oil change?”
“Fish, I swear to god, I took her to Enrique’s. She needed to get the car done while Danny was out and the last place ripped her off. She was coming over to ask Will where he takes the Jeep. Nothing else happened. ¿Me entiendes?”
Frankie raised his eyebrow and tilted his head as he stayed calm, taking a sip from his beer. Santiago’s defensiveness was not going unnoticed. “Entendido. You have to admit that it doesn’t look great, though. Did anyone see you?”
“No, we drove in her car and she dropped me off here. No one was out walking a dog or taking a kid around the block, ok? Relax.”
“I think you’re the one who needs to relax hermano,” Frankie shook his head. “We’re also going to need something stronger than beer.” He walked over to the cabinet to pull out a bottle of whiskey.

Katie’s Tuesday was much less eventful than the day before. By the time it was lunchtime, she couldn’t stand to be in the house anymore. Whenever she walked down her hallway or even looked at it, her mind flashed back to her steamy makeout session yesterday with Will. She was also extra frustrated since she had a less than pleasurable time with her vibrator this morning, wishing she had the real thing rather than the toy that had become an all-too-familiar fixture in her life as of late.
She was restless, sitting on the couch with her forearms restingon her knees, unsure how she wanted to spend the next hour.
“Fuck it.”
She stomped over to her room and changed into a more supportive sports bra, threw her running shoes on, grabbed her wireless headphones, and decided to head out for a jog around the neighborhood. She took up running following her divorce, finding it gave her the time and space to sort through all of the shit she had kept built up for years with Sebastian.
On her loop back to Mule Fall Court, she saw a blonde man in the distance, also running. As she got closer her stomach dropped realizing it was a very sweaty Will who was not wearing a shirt. He must have noticed her at the same time because he waved and crossed the street where Katie was.
“Hey,” he attempted to catch his breath while wiping his brow with his forearm.
“Hey! I didn’t realize there was someone else who was crazy like me and ran in the middle of the day in the summer.” Katie managed to get out while also trying to catch her breath.
“Ha yea, well, I missed out on going with Connor and Benny to the gym this morning and wanted to get my run in while I could,” he smiled at her, trying as discreetly as possible to check her out. “Um, hey in the rush to get out yesterday I realized I never got your number,” he rubbed the back of his neck. “You know, so we could coordinate a time to come over with Connor.”
“Oh…oh yeah, sorry about that by the way…um, here,” she blushed as she motioned to Will’s phone.
He handed it over to her and she punched her phone number in and saved her contact as Neighbor Katie before handing the phone back to him.
“Ha, Neighbor Katie, huh? Well, here let me send you a text. Can I request you save my number as Neighbor Will?” he chuckled.
“I think I can manage that,” she laughed.
“Cool…well, sent.”
They both stared at each other for a few moments, unsure who was going to speak first. Finally, Will caved.
“Um, would you want to maybe go uh…wanna hang out sometime?”
“Hang out?” she smirked. “What do you mean by that?”
Will blushed, it had been a while since he’d asked a woman out on a date. “Ha, um…sorry, I’m bad at this.”
Katie felt a little rush, seeing how flustered Will was while also noticing how his ab muscles flexed when he laughed. “Are you asking me out on a date Will?”
“Ah…well, yeah. Yeah, I am. But if you don’t…”
“No I do,” she cut him off. “Yeah, let’s…hang out,” she smirked.
“Cool, well, I guess I’ll text you. Unless I run into you again.” He winked as he lightly bit his lower lip.
“Sounds good, Will, I’ll see ya.”
They both smiled as they parted ways, heading in opposite directions.
Katie walked into her house giddy at the idea of going out on a date with Will. Megan had tried setting her up on countless dates in recent months but no one ever really made her this excited. Will was a nice guy, and obviously easy on the eyes, and she liked being around him. Although he was quiet, it never felt like there were awkward silences with him.
She knew Megan would wring her neck if she didn’t immediately inform her about what just happened, so she opened up her text messages as she went to the fridge to refill her water bottle.
Katie: Holy shit. You’ll be so proud of me. I think I’m going on a date soon.
When she hit send she put the phone down and rummaged through her fridge to find some ingredients for a sandwich. She checked her phone and nearly dropped her plate when she realized what she had done.
“Oh fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.”
Her face was red hot as she realized that had inadvertently texted Will instead of Megan who was typically the first thread in her text messages. She shot a quick glance out her living room window, cursing herself that she left the curtains all the way open this morning to bask in some of the sunlight. Although she didn’t see Will anywhere outside, she wasn’t sure if he was done running yet or not so she hid behind her kitchen island to be out of sight and dialed Megan.
“C’mon pick up pick up.”
“Hey, everything ok?”
“Fuck, Meg. I fucked up.”
“Whoa, whoa. Slow down. What happened? Are you ok?”
“Physically yes. But I’m fucking mortified. I…ugh shit he just read it!” Katie let out an exasperated sigh.
“What are you talking about? Do you need me to come over there? Did Seb call you?”
Katie talked a mile a minute to get everything out to Megan, telling her about how she met Will and they exchanged numbers and made plans to go out on a date. Megan’s first reaction was to laugh, which made Katie whine even more.
“Ok, ok, I’m sorry…you have to admit this is kind of funny and so something you would do,” Megan continued to chuckle as she typed away on her computer. “Has he responded yet?”
“Ugh, no he hasn’t…wait, there’s bubbles, he’s typing.”
________________
Will lightly jogged back to his driveway as he heard the roar of the engine of Benny’s TransAm coming up the street. He greeted his brother and Connor and the three of them headed inside to eat.
“How was your run,” Benny called out as he walked into his room to change out of his sweaty clothes.
“Actually pretty good, I…uh…I got Katie’s number.”
“No way man, that’s awesome,” Connor slapped him on the shoulder, making Will chuckle at the boy’s enthusiasm and apparent investment in his, and Katie’s, love life.
Will’s phone dinged, but he ignored it, figuring it was probably Pope adding some stupid joke to the guys’ group chat.
Benny came back around the corner pulling his shirt over his head with his very well-worn slouchy gray sweatpants slung low on his waist. “Oh shit, no way. You didn’t get that yesterday? I mean after you kissed her and grabbed her-”
“Hey, hey,” he interrupted his brother, cutting his eyes over at Connor.
“I’m not in elementary school, I’ve hooked up with girls before,” Connor straightened up, puffing out his chest a bit.
“Girls, plural?” Benny smirked.
“Ok, girl. Just one girl. It was freshman year and we kept our clothes on, but it still counts ok!”
“Yeah, buddy, it’s all good,” Benny chuckled. “But seriously, Will, do you have any plans to see her? Ya’ll going out on a date or something? Shit, when’s the last time you went out on a date?”
“Could ask you the same question asshole,” Will snapped back, picking up his phone. “Oh shit. Hey, look.” Will unlocked his phone and showed Benny and Connor the text that came in from Katie. “That…that wasn’t meant for me right?”
“Oh, that was probably for my mom, they text each other literally all day every day.”
“Shit, she’s probably really embarrassed.”
“C’mon let’s fuck with her, give her a hard time,” Benny took the phone from Will, starting to compose a message.
Will wrestled the phone out of his brother’s hands, annoyed that Benny’s longer arms made it hard for him to get to the phone. “Stop it. Ok…let’s not give her too hard of a time, but let’s have some fun.” Will smiled, which made Benny whoop with laughter.

Neighbor Will: Going on a date soon, huh? Nice. Who’s the lucky guy?
Katie read the text out loud practically as it was delivered. “Ok, so he didn’t immediately think I was a complete weirdo, that’s a good sign, right?”
“Babe, you just probably gave him such a big ego boost, he’s got to be loving this. Be a little flirty back, c’mon.”
They debated back and forth on what to text next, letting the rest of the conversation play out, giggling like they were in high school.
Katie: Oh, just some guy who I met recently. He’s pretty good-looking.
Neighbor Will: Good looking, huh?
Katie: A little. 😉
Neighbor Will: Like good looking as in handsome? Or good looking as in hot?
Katie: That’s my secret…
Neighbor Will: So when’s this date? Gotta make sure this guy is legit.
Katie: I don’t know, we haven’t decided yet.
Neighbor Will: Fridays always seem to be a good day.
Katie: Very true. Seems like a good way to end the week.
Neighbor Will: Well, maybe your date can come up with a fun idea for you two between now and then.
Katie: He seems like a planner, so I have no doubt.
Neighbor Will: Well, it sounds like you have a date.
Neighbor Will: Pick you up at 7? 😉
Katie: Sure, sounds good.
“See! Now if that wasn’t a great recovery then I don’t know what it is!” Megan cheered Katie on over the phone.
“Holy shit, I’m going to need a drink.”
“I got you sister. I’m putting a bottle of wine in the fridge right now! Come over after work! I’ll call in some reinforcements.”

Promptly at 5 p.m., closed her laptop and got a little bag together to head over to Megan’s complete with some cheese, crackers, and olives. Throughout the afternoon various members of the Neighborhood Watch popped into the group chat saying they were free to come over for an impromptu get-together.
Katie knew her texting faux pas was going to be a subject of conversation and while the attention would normally make her want to crawl into a hole, she knew the crew would make her laugh and lift her spirits. She was already bracing for whatever smartass comment David was sure to give her, but she was ready for it – she needed to be around her friends.
As she made her way up Megan’s porch, the door swung open. Connor was on the other side, his eyes going wide when he saw Katie.
“Hey C!”
His eyes grew wide and he gulped. “H-hey Ms. Katie.”
“You ok?”
“Yeah…sorry, I wasn’t expecting to see you…um, I’m going to go see Will.” he blurted out.
“Oh…ok cool. Having a guys’ night then huh?” She wiggled her eyebrows trying to lighten the mood.
“Yea. I…um…I’m gonna go.”
“Ok C, I’ll see ya. Hey, you good to come over to my house on Saturday to build some stuff? Don’t feel like you have to.”
“No, I mean, yeah I’ll be there. I don’t mind Ms. Katie. I told you I’d help.”
“Alrighty bud, I’ll see ya.”
Katie closed to door and walked in on Megan who was pulling a dish out of the oven.
“Holy shit that smells good, what is that?”
“Oh hey babe, it’s this garlic and herb baked brie thing I found on Pinterest. Did you see Connor on his way out? He was supposed to take over these buffalo chicken sliders I made for the guys. They’re apparently going to teach Connor how to play poker tonight,” she chuckled.
“Ha, oh jeez. Yeah, I saw him. He was kinda awkward with me though, it’s like he saw a ghost or something when he saw me.” She tried to snag a bite of the brie but Megan swatted her hand away.
“Everyone will be here soon, wait! And uh…yea, about that. Apparently, he was over at Will’s today when you guys were texting.”
“Well, it’s not like a sent a picture of my tits or anything…”
“I know, but he felt bad that you may have been embarrassed, you know how he is.”
“Oh I know, our sweet little Connie bear. How’re things going with him and Aria?”
“Good, I think. I’m trying to not ask Benny a ton of questions, but I’m dying to know more.”
“Ooo…Benny huh?’ Katie teased, arching one of her eyebrows. “He’s hot as fuck Meg, you thought about doing anything about that?”
Megan rolled her eyes, “For starters, he’s like 10 years younger than me and I see him like a little brother, ew.”
Katie wasn’t convinced but didn’t press the issue as she heard the door open.
“Party’s here!” David shouted as he danced through the front door, a bottle of sparkling wine in his hand as Ty followed carrying a couple of containers for Lucille who was trailing behind them.
The five of them chitchatted while they waited for Melissa and Olivia to arrive, politely waiting to dig into the spread until David broke the tension and started fixing himself a plate. “Look we said be here by 7, I know Liv is probably dealing with bedtime and shit, but Melissa has no excuse. They can’t be mad that we started eating.”
Almost on cue, Melissa strolled through the front door carrying some fresh-baked cookies.
“Liv texted, one of the twins is sick so she can’t make it,” Megan let the group know as they all sat around the living room with their snacks and drinks.
“Katie, I am dying to know what your last like 36 hours have been like. Please dish!” Ty teased.
She reluctantly rehashed her lunch date, going in more detail than she was planning on thanks to very specific questions from David. When she finally got to the part where she accidentally texted him, they all nearly spit out their drinks.
“Oh shit, Katie…that would happen to you,” Melissa chuckled.
“It was so fucking embarrassing,” Katie put her head in her hands.
“Why mi cielo? So he knows you were excited to go out on a date, what’s the harm in that?” Lucille rubbed Katie’s back. “He’s so handsome, have some fun!”
“Thank you, Lulu, that’s what I’ve been trying to tell her!” Megan cheered.
“Well, cheers to your date and hopefully getting some dick!” David raised his glass as everyone else groaned and rolled their eyes.

“Ok, so a full house is better than a flush?” Connor looked at his cards confused, showing them to Benny who was sitting to his right.
“Lemme see…” Benny peered over at his hand. “Yeah, you have a full house which would be better than a flush, but unfortunately I have you beat,” he laid down his cards. “Straight flush.”
The rest of the guys groaned as Benny fist pumped, winning his fifth-straight hand.
“How about we take a break, huh? Refill drinks?” Frankie asked as he got up.
“No fair Fish, you’re just mad that you’re losing.” Benny huffed.
Connor and Will also pushed back from the table to head to the refrigerator, Santiago and Benny following.
“Pizza should be here soon,” Will said as he checked his phone.
“Ugh,” Connor shook his head. “My mom made some slider things for me to bring and I forgot to bring them. I was a little distracted on the way out.”
“Did Aria text you or something?” Benny asked as he took a swig of his beer.
“No, uh, Katie came by. They’re all having a get-together.”
“Probably to talk about you güero,” Santiago slapped Will on the chest. “Connor, you think they’re going to be there a while?”
“At my house? I mean, it won’t be super late, but they’re still there now.”
“C’mon Will, let’s go get our…what were they Connor, sliders?” Santiago confirmed with Connor before he and a reluctant Will made their way across the street.
_______________
“So Lulu, any chisme you care to share with us?” Ty asked.
“Well, actually yes. I saw Ethan today, he showed 306 to a family as a favor to one of his realtor friends.”
“Oooo did you see the people?” Melissa asked, curious who her new neighbors may be.
“Just from afar, it was a family, a couple and they had two kids with them.”
“Were they hot?” David asked as Ty playfully slapped him on the forearm.
“I couldn’t get as close of a look as I wanted, but the husband kind of reminded me of Francisco, just with shorter hair and no beard and wearing a suit.”
The group was laughing in the living room when they heard the doorbell ring.
“Do you think that’s Liv?” Melissa asked.
“Nah, none of you ring the doorbell anymore,” Megan chuckled as she walked over to see who was at her front door. “Oh…hey boys! Come on in.” She ushered Santiago and Will inside, shushing Bucky who started barking at the visitors. “Oh stop it, you know them.”
Katie’s eyes widened and the sight of Will who was rubbing the back of his neck as he walked behind Santiago who confidently strolled into the room.
Lucille flashed a quick glance over to Melissa who straightened up at the sight of Santiago while smoothing down her hair.
“Hey everyone, so sorry to intrude on your uh…party, but Megan, Connor mentioned there was something he forgot to bring over,” Santiago flashed a charming smile.
“Oh yeah! I actually have them still on the stove so they should be a little warm, may just have to pop them in the microwave for a few before you serve them. Katie, can you help me,” Megan nodded to her friend to join her in the kitchen as the rest of the crew made small talk with the guys.
“What the fuck,” Katie whispered to Megan as they got to the kitchen.
“Aww what…Will wanted to come and see you,” Megan teased as she wrapped aluminum foil onto the platter. “You should see the way he was looking at you. Here take this to your man.”
“He’s not my man,” Katie rolled her eyes, yelping a bit as Megan slapped her on the ass as she walked out of the kitchen.
As they walked back into the living room, David and Santiago were cracking jokes back and forth.
“Here you go,” Katie announced, walking towards Will.
“Thanks,” he smiled as he inhaled sharply as their fingers brushed against each other when she handed over the tray. “Didn’t mean to bother you all, we’ll get going. Promise we won’t have Connor over too late Meg.”
“All good, it’s the summer so he can stay out as late as he wants!” Megan waved them off.
“Ok, well, still. We’ll make sure he gets back. You have a great night,” Will said to everyone but looked at Katie with a smile.
A/N: For some reason, I was having trouble with this chapter, but I eventually got it to a place I liked, so I hope you like it too!
When the two men finally walked out, the group stayed quiet for about 10 seconds before they started whooping and hollering about their unexpected, but very welcome, visitors.

(end of conversation)
You sighed and put your phone on the charger before deciding you should get some sleep before going to dinas.
you woke up and looked at the flashing red numbers on your alarm clock that read 6:18 AM
you got up and put some sweatpants on along with a hoodie before putting your laptop charger phone and a dress to change into for the party that night into your tote bag. you grabbed your shoes and began tying then when you heard shuffling on the other side of the room
shit you thought to yourself. you really didn’t wanna have to face ellie this morning but she was your roomate after all.
“where are you going this early” she said rubbing her eyes. her voice sounded so raspy, you felt the same butterflies you tried so hard to get rid of senior year but now they were back.
“shit sorry did i wake you up?” you said standing up to look at her ignoring her previous question.
“yea kinda but you didn’t answer my question, where are you going?” she said a little harsher now. “just dinas, ill be back pretty late too so dont wait up” you replied. “oh? and where are you going thats keeping you out so late” ellie replied standing up crossing her arms. she was just wearing a tanktop and sweats, her muscular arms on full display. trying to divert your attention so you wouldnt stare you tried to reply. “just some stupid frat party”.
“oh? well im going to a frat party myself tonight so i guess well both be back late” she said smirking slightly. you rolled your eyes. “yeah ok” you replied turning around and walking to the front door. you opened it but before you closed it again you heard ellie say “you cant pretend nothing happened, y/n” after you heard that you quickly shut the door and started on your way to dinas dorm.
“you need to have an actual conversation with her y/n” dina said. you had spent the last hour and a half talking about your situation with ellie.
“but how i cant even say hi to her without feeling like im going to throw up from how nervous i am” you whined. you could tell dina was tired of listening to you but you didn’t really have anyone else that would put up with it.
“well its gonna happen weather you like it or not, but for now lets focus on your outfit for the party” you knew dina was trying to be helpful by changing the subject but you weren’t completely ready to stop talking about the situation between you and ellie but you complied with dinas request.
“ugh fine, hold on let me get my new dress i bought like two days ago” you showed her the dress. it was black with some glitter and off the shoulder sleeves.
“oh my god it looks amazing! you have to try it on for me” you rolled your eyes before going into the bathroom to change. when you walked out to show dina she opened her mouth slightly with a shocked expression across her face.
“holy shit y/n you look fucking amazing.”
-
you walked into the party with your hair and makeup done by dina. you made a beeline to the drink table dragging dina with you terrified to see ellie sober. you poured some alcohol from a bottle of straight vodka into a small shot glass sized solo cup.
“jeez slow down” dina said with a slightly concerned look as you downed the first shot and started pouring your second one.
“she said she was going to be here and i cannot be sober when i see her” you said after drinking your second shot.
“well how about you come dance for a bit before you get to wasted” dina spoke as she grabbed your wrist and dragged you into a crowd of sweaty bodies all dancing with the music. after a couple of minutes of pure uncomfort you told dina you were getting another drink. you walked over to the table and poured yourself a cup of vodka and punch and decided to go outside to the patio to get some fresh air.
you stepped outside closing the sliding glass door behind you. it was completely empty which was good. it made it easier for you to think. you sat against the wall and closed your eyes taking a sip of your concoction every once and a while listening to the slight beat of the music coming from inside. you thought about a lot of things, college, classes, but mostly ellie. you knew you couldnt avoid the subject forever, but you wished things could just go back to normal. you both being on speaking terms with no romantic feelings for eachother, but it was a little late for that now, and you couldnt keep pushing ellie away, she was your roomate now but you also missed what you used to have. maybe talking to her would be able to do that, but you still wanted to put it off for as long as possible.
you were deep in your thoughts when you heard the sliding sound of the glass door open. you thought it was dina looking for you so you just said, “yeah yeah i know dina just give me like five minutes and ill go back in” however the voice that you thought belonged to your best friend sounded nothing like her, instead it was ellie. “well im not dina but you should probably go back inside” she spoke.
you were pulled out of your thoughts at the sound of her voice looking over at her as she made her way to sit down next to you.
you already being somewhat drunk you responded to her with a little attitude “what do you want, did dina tell you i was going to be out here or something” “well for one i wasnt looking for you, i didnt even know you were going to be out here, i just came outside to smoke, but it’s probably a good thing i found you, we need to talk” she says pulling out a joint from the back pocket of her jeans. she was wearing acid washed dark blue jeans and a maroon tshirt with a sage green flannel over it. she had her hair in a half up half down bun style and of course, her black converse.
you watched intently as she placed the joint between her lips and lit it, the smell hitting your nose as she inhaled and exhaled the substance.
“you shouldve said something, senior year, i might’ve even felt the same”. she started to speak again. “but what if you didnt?”. “then thats it, atleast we wouldve gotten it out of the way”. you wished that what she was saying was true but you knew better. “dont act like it wouldnt have been a big deal ellie, you and i both know that it would change our entire friendship, plus what about cat?”
there was a moment of silence before ellie spoke again “me and cat broke up after a few months but we werent even dating when you cut me off. we couldve tried it out. we couldve gone on dates and shit. We couldve made it work, even if we decided to just be friends.”
after another moment of silence you decided to say something. “what if we tried just being friends again, we cant really avoid eachother anymore you know since were roomates and shit” you proposed. you didn’t want to be just freinds but after months of not talking you couldnt just ask her to date you. Ellie however wanted you to ask her to be more.
“so just friends? nothing more?” ellie said as she turned to look at you. occasionally glancing at your lips.
“well i mean i just thought-“ you were cut off by ellie. “you thought i wouldnt say yes if you asked me to be more?”. you felt heat rise up to your face as ellie moved slightly closer but enough to the point where your shoulders were touching. “i mean, i-i guess?” you were able to stutter out.
“well what if i told you i wouldve said yes?” as she spoke she moved her face closer to yours to the point where you could slightly feel her breath against you.
“i-i dont” before you could finish you were cut off by her lips lightly pressing against yours. you were shocked for a moment but eventually gave in and kissed her back as she flicked her joint elsewhere. the kiss became more lustful when she slightly bit on your bottom lip and entering her tounge in your mouth when you gasped. you put your hands on the sides of her face to pull her in even more. she pulled you onto her lap and her knee pressed slightly onto your core making you gasp and pull away from the kiss for a moment. you felt your arousal growing as your underwear slowly became wet. you wanted so badly for it to go further but you knew you couldnt do it on the patio of a frat party.
ellie tried kissing you again but you held her shoulders to stop her. “ this is amazing but i think we should go back inside, dinas probably worried by now”
“hmm ok but remember we’re roommates”

Three Times You forgot Your Glasses Plus the One Time Kon Remembered
Summary: Various things I’ve put my glasses through but with more Kon Kent involved. a/n: In celebration of me getting my eyes checked after a year, here is a fic about glasses. Thanks to @glorified-red for the ideas and @littleredwing89 for proofreading and the banner Warnings: Abuse of glasses
1: Monster Madness
You watch the blood splatter with mild disinterest, mind more concerned with the weird zig-zagging of the camera and the plethora of cheap-looking animatronics. You really should go to a theme park for Halloween.  Or you could just get the animatronics. You did promise Bart to give him a heart attack after that incident during April Fools but... it's a Friday night and both you and the week are winding down so here you are flat on your stomach squinting at your laptop with your cheeky boyfriend.
"Heads up!" The man on screen says tossing a severed head.
"Someone has finally beaten you for the worst catchphrase of the year," Kon says.
You run a cold toe over his leg. "Suck this was not that bad." You grouse, earning you a snort from Kon.
"Leave the catchphrases to the professionals."
"Right," you say, looking back at the screen."Somehow our apartment is more cluttered than the horror mansion."
"Dunno what you mean," Kon mumbles, squishing his face to his arm.
You squint, "Did you miss the sock in the dishwasher or did I hallucinate that?"
"Vivid hallucination."
You squint at him even louder and Kon just hums at you.
"Ok," he sighs, angling his body towards you. "I may or may not have been less than sober."
You hum, "I think you were high on pixie sticks."
"Hey, sugar high is a real problem, gorgeous."
"Sure, it is." You giggle running a hand through his curly hair and brushing your thumb against his cheek. He's so warm and cute and the smile on his face makes your insides all fuzzy.
"Just keep watching the movie, doll," Kon says, kissing your wrist.
The movie prattles on getting more and more ridiculous as it goes on. You and Kon weren't really expecting quality but this was a different ball game.
"This looks like a lingerie commercial," you snicker.
"Is this not why you suggested this movie?"
"It most certainly is not," you huff as a child explodes on screen. A wire-y feeling takes over your body. You feel so light and airy. Your head is drifting away.
"You're going to fall asleep with your glasses on," Kon says, poking your cheek.
You nudge your foot to his as you knock your head lightly against his shoulder. Your lids feel heavy. A yawn rolls off your lips as if the concept of tiredness and sleep did not exist until Kon had spoken it into existence.
You blink slowly mind focusing on light smudges on the lenses. You're not particularly forgetful, not really. You're just tangled with your neurons all firing in 7 different directions, 14 if you're on the cusp of sleep, and none of them ever seem to register that your eyesight isn't actually worth a damn. You tilt your head, squishing your face into Kon's hand. "Just remind me then."
"What if I forget?" Kon asks, tangling his leg with yours. His hand threads through your hair and the warm pressure of it makes your eyelids feel even heavier.
You blow out a breath. "The world will explode." You boop Kon's nose for effect.
Kon grins, delicately wrapping his hand around yours and kissing your fingers. "Guess I better not forget, huh gorgeous?"
"Mhmm."
Kon's not entirely sure when he'd fallen asleep or who'd fallen asleep first. He opens his eyes to see your face illuminated but the changing colors of the screen, a scene he can barely make out reflected on your glasses which are now smudged and crooked on your face. You are incurably adorable.
"Babe," Kon whispers softly, rubbing your back.
You moan and squeeze your eyes tighter.
Kon looks at the clock and winces. "Babe, it’s 1 AM." He kisses the crown of your head and shakes your shoulder.
"Then why are you awake?" You ask, still not opening your eyes.
Your face is squooshed into your arm while your hand is intertwined with his. Kon curses himself for not charging his phone. Maybe he can use yours but that meant getting up and letting go of your hand.
"Your glasses are still on."
"How else am I supposed to see my dreams?"
"Pfff, you’re a nerd you know that, right?" Kon kisses your nose.
Your nose scrunches. "Hnnnnnn, sounds like your type. Now go back to sleep."
Kon lets out a soundless laugh. "Lemme just..." He takes off your glasses, very careful not to jostle you too much. He folds your glasses neatly on your laptop and uses his tactile kinesis to move both.
He pulls you into his chest as he closes his eyes.
2: Kiss in the Rain
"I'm just gonna get a quick shower before we go!"
"Quick means I can sneak in a two-hour nap," Kon says, plopping on the couch.
You click your teeth and stick your tongue out at him from the door.
He burrows into the blanket you'd left there the night before. "Wake me when you’re ready." He says smugly but annoyingly endearing.
"Or I could just leave you and grab brunch with the others."
"You would never."
"Pretty confident aren't you?" You narrow your eyes at him.
"Yeah," he says smiling into the soft fabric, "cus it's my turn to pay."
You purse your lips and try your best to death glare at him.
He hums waiting for your undoubtedly witty response . "I won’t be long," You huff, throwing your shorts in his face.
Kon waves the shorts like a flag.  "I'll be waiting, Babe!"
You loudly stop into the room, your footsteps sounding wet against the hardwood floor.
Kon yawns and stretches, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. "What’s wrong, doll?" He has to slap his hand on his mouth when he sees you.
You pad around the room with your obviously drenched glasses, feeling for your glasses cleaner.
"You forgot again, huh?" He snickers helpfully.
You turn to him sharply. "No, I decided to see if my conditioner would work on them."  You say elongating your syllables to convey your frustration.
"You always did say you wanted to kiss in the rain without getting wet." He laughs, sitting up and ruffling his bed head.
"Very helpful." You hiss, picking through odd bits of life on your coffee table. You really need to clean your apartment. You run a hand through your wet hair. "Have you seen my eyeglass cleaner?"
Kon rests against the couch. "You mean the one in the sink?"
You shoot up. "Fuck."
"We could."
"Oh fuck you," you throw a chip at him. "Do you know where my spare is?"
"Nnnn, in my jacket."
You pause to look at him. "Which one?"
"The leather one."
"Which one?"
Kon thinks it over. "The one with studs."
"Ah." You shuffle through the closet and find your spare covered cheese and what looks to be mold. You gag and toss it into the trash.
You sigh dramatically as you walk back into the living room, your glasses still very smudgy and very wet. Standing in front of Kon, you pout crossing your arms. There wasn’t much either of you could really do about it but you weren’t really sure how to work off your now sour mood.
Kon smiles up at you indulgently. "C'mere," he says, putting his hand on the back of your neck.
You let him pull you in as if gravity had taken hold of your body instead of Kon. Then again, was there really any difference?
Your lips meld together in a warm embrace. They push and pull at each other seeking out every curve and ridge til their shapes are imprinted on each other's skin. You gently push Kon back, not breaking the kiss, and settle yourself on his lap. He traces a hand up your spine, lips curving into a smile as every nerve in your body awakens to his touch.
You eventually break for air but not before nibbling on his bottom lip. "That's not how people kiss in the rain." You say breathlessly.
Kon tilts his head to the side, obviously equally breathless even as he cuts you a sharp grin. "How would you do it?"
"Like this." You brush your thumb against his cheek before swooping in for another kiss.
3: Steamy Kon pulls back his shades over his head like a headband as he tells you about Tim smacking into a building in an effort to avoid an alien. He tells the story with an enthusiastic swoop of his hand and a voice that rises just above the jumbled sounds of the diner.
You slouch into your moldy seat, wondering if a supervillain was somehow close by or if supervillains avoided the Midwest like the plague. Maybe you should move to the Midwest or not... They may have more diners without chocolate chip pancakes. They really should consider serving that market, you think, only half-listening to Kon's story.
"You know that anyone can hear you, right?" You say, tilting the fluffy mess of pancake batter and blueberries the size of pebbles. The underside drips a thick midnight blue and the only evidence of the pancake batter is the sweet smell of butter intertwined with the rich tangy scent of blueberries.
"Unlike you city folk, we mind our own business," Kon waves you off with a mouthful of pancakes. For once, he sounds particularly Kansan as if the whole clone thing had just been some fever dream you had after watching too many 50s sci fi movies. Or maybe Kansas has a Twilight zone effect on him that strips all the city out of him. He’d even exchanged his leather jacket for a plaid button-up.
"The English language does not have nearly enough words to fully express how much of dork you are." You say inanely picking at your pancakes.
Kon narrows his eyes at you, blue bleeding out from his pretty lips. You cover your own to hide a smile. "You're just saying that." He rolls his eyes at you.
"Trust me I don't need Lex's lab to prove that you're a dork." You cut into your pancakes ignoring how the blue will likely stain your new Superboy hoodie. "I can see it even without my-" Your glasses fog up.
"You were saying, sweetcheeks."You can tell from the silhouette beyond the haze that Kon is being a smug little shit. He leans closer, blowing on your face. "Maybe they’re steaming up because I’m such hot stuff." You can't see but you're pretty sure that he has a grin you want to slap off.
You jab your fork at the air to shoo him away from your poor glasses. "Well, I  can least leave you and your ego alone while I eat in peace." You huff. The corners of your mouth are finding it extremely hard to stay down.
"As if! You'll be staring at me with those heart eyes the whooooole time," Kon says leaning forward. The tip of his finger presses against the wide lens of your glasses.
"Did you just forget how fog works?" You ask when Kon falls back into his seat.
"A little."
You let out an incredibly undignified snort as you take your glasses off.  You trace the smudgy path his fingers left before putting your glasses back on.
Kon's lovestruck expression is framed in smudgy in a smudgy heart.
Kon tries to hide his smile by rubbing his nose."Which one of us is the dork again?"
"I do it with style." You say taking a bite of your pancakes.
+1: Roller Coaster of a Ride
Apparently, the city has tried to get the ride banned. You lookup. There doesn't seem to be any integrity problems. You loop your pinky finger with Kon's as you read the sign for the roller coaster. Kon shifts his hand slowly interlacing his fingers with yours. Vaguely, you hear Cassie over the phone. You twitch your pinky finger.
"Oh yeah, (Y/n) says hi."
You smile a little too broadly when he got the gesture. You lean your head on his shoulder and try to ignore the urge to kiss the corner of his lip.
"It goes 150 miles per hour." You whistle.
"Babe, we both know I can go faster."
Side-eyeing him you ask: "Can you last longer?"
Kon chokes and you think you hear Cassie cackle on the other end. You quietly bask in your glory while Kon keeps arguing over the phone. From the odd bits and ends of the conversation you could hear, you could tell Tim and Bart (and possibly Cissie) have joined in on ganging up on  Kon. You may or may not be a little too helpful with their quest to make Kon's life hell.
Kon is huffy until you reach the end of the line. "Oh, babe." He points to his face. Your hands shoot up to your glasses and heat rises in your ears. Gingerly, you take them off, pause, then debate whether you should put them in your pocket (which was too loose) or hold on to them (brings up the question how good your grip is).
"I'll hold 'em," Kon says, holding out his hand.
You squint up at him, his face a vague suggestion of colors and shapes."What if you break them?"
Kon's silhouette makes a gesture like he's been struck.
You volley it with an aggressively tired look and cross your arms.
Kon doesn't withdraw his hand. "I'll take care of it like I take care of you." He kisses your brow. It's really not that you don't trust him. You really wouldn't let him drop you 200 feet in the air just to catch you but you're anxious when you can't see.
With a defeated sigh, you put your glasses in his hand. You look up at him wearily to which he responds to by pressing a reassuring hand to your back. You let out a breath and hold onto his belt loop as you enter the platform.
You both stare at the broken fragments in Kon's hands. You pick up a piece of glass that used to be part of your lenses and hold it up to your face. The corner of your mouth twitches. "Well, I certainly hope you don't do that to me." Your voice is flat, not quite sure how to ebb the oncoming wave off panic. You don't want this to ruin your date with Kon.
Kon watches your expression carefully, parsing through the little twitches and changes. You weren't angry or you didn't seem to be. Frustrated, yes. Amused, definitely. But it's something else muddling everything. Kon closes his eyes. He tries to take the quietest breath he can to steady himself.  "I thought you wanted me to?" He laughs but it sounds weak.
You pout at him, squinted eyes directed at his shoulder. Your hand swats at him and you're a good 6 inches off and almost hitting your hand against a metal post if he hadn't grabbed it with his own. He runs his thumb over the back of your hand. The only advantage to you being blind right now is that you can't see the absolutely gutted expression on his face.
"You're a dumbass," You huff, closing your hand around his.
He knows. He shifts his weight on his feet. "We can go-"
You tighten your hold on the back of his jacket and swallow the cold feeling rising from your gut. "You're gonna get me the cotton candy you promised, yeah?" Your voice is a little too high, too strained, too unnatural.
Kon softens at the obvious nervousness in your tone. He wraps an arm around you, his lips brushing your forehead. "Do I really need you to be sweeter than you already are?"
"You really are laying on the charm tonight, aren’t you stud?" You say, biting your lip.
"If it means I'm not sleeping on the couch." Kon presses his forehead against yours, lips almost brushing yours.
"You aren't simply for the fact that I need help getting to the bed."
"I can do more than that," Kon winks.
Wrapping your arms around his neck and steadying your still trembling legs, you brush your lips against his neck. "I'm not gonna give you the satisfaction of cumming when I can't see you begging for it." Kon looks around thankful that super hearing is something very rare. "I--" He swallows, heat is creeping up his skin.  "--Babe, if you're seriously not ok we can go home."
You bunch up the collar of his jacket, face folding into a frown.  "You were so excited to go to the theme park and we've been planning this trip for weeks..." You don't want something stupid like your glasses to ruin your day together. "C'mon Kon just a few more rides." You lean back a little farther so Kon is forced to hold you closer. "Pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaase Kon, my eyes aren't gonna be better at home. Just a few more."
Kon really has no idea how it hasn't hit you yet that he could never say no to you. "Ok. ok. Let's get some food first though."
Both Kon's breath and heart come to a full stop.
Your teeth catch against Kon's skin before pulling away.
Apparently, the theme park somehow had no cotton candy due to some kid weaponizing the cotton candy a few years ago. You had your suspicions.
You narrow your eyes a the menu. You ... can't read a thing. "Kon,"you sigh in defeat,"can you order for the both of us?"
"Hnnnnn I should get you the grossest thing on the menu."
"Well, you aren't on the menu so I think I'm pretty safe."
"Oh, I am so on the menu. I'm right over there." He points to something on the menu.
You shake your head. "Can't see."
"Can't call bullshit then."
"I revoke your cute status."
"C'mon doll, you'll always find me cute."
"Dunno, can't see."
He sighs. He hates it when you use his own argument against him.
"Can we get 1 root beer funnel cake and a strawberry one?" Kon says, raising two fingers. He looks at you then adds: "Could you add extra confectioners sugar to the strawberry one?"
You're slightly caught off guard by that detail. You never really fussed much about your orders and you don't think you've ever really mentioned your favorite flavors. You look up at Kon to thank him and ask him how but he kisses you on the nose before you can get a word out. You squish your face into Kon's back as you take a bite out of the funnel cake. Kon tilts his head back to rest on yours. "How's the cake? Please tell me I got it right."
"No, you definitely didn't." You giggle.
"Should I have gotten you the beefcake?"
You nudge your nose against his back. "Hmmmmm, yeah. It's my favorite flavor."
"The public will be notified." He laughs. The vibrations of his laughter make his back shake in a soothing wave. You wrap an arm around Kon's waist, smiling into his back.
“Listen (y/n), I’m--” You shove the last piece of your funnel cake into his face, smearing his cheek with sugar and strawberry syrup.
“You don’t need to apologize. You didn’t mean to.” You look up at him. “Besides, you’re gonna make it up to me.”
He perks up, narrowing his eyes at you suspiciously. You shrug.“Win me a prize.”
So as it turns out, Kon is terrible at carnival games, shooting ones especially.
Clutching the oversized teddy bear he bought you from the gift shop, you laugh at him the whole way back to the car.
“I can’t believe you spent a hundred and you still couldn’t get even the jiggly snakes.” You wheeze, resting against the car.
“Gorgeous, you and I both know those things are rigged!” He protests, hand on his hips standing in front of you. You keep laughing. He puts his arms on either side of you and *tries* to look menacing. You kiss him on the nose and the mean expression on his face fades faster than Tim’s hopes of a productive team meeting.
“Yeah, yeah, I know it’s rigged but that’s not why I’m laughing.”
“Is it because I’m miserable?”
“Hmmm, no.”
“Uhuh.”
“Ok, a little,” you say, pinching your fingers together, "I’m laughing because you didn’t stop trying and that’s the dumbest and cutest thing ever.”
“I can’t tell if you’re complimenting me or insulting me.” Kon pouts, leaning in to kiss the crown of your head.
You shrug. “Either way, I’m doing it lovingly.”

Fuck, I forgot!
lmao enjoy this fanfic I wrote with a cold and a lot of homework I had to do. Happy birthday to Alex!!!
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Ding!
The grandfather clock in the living room struck to signal that it was one o’clock.
Alex lay on his spot on the couch, covered in blankets and an all sorts of research spread across the table. For the last three weeks, there had been a Death cycle sweeping through their little area in Harlem, targeting a group of factory workers. And for the last three weeks, he and his fellow clairvoyants had hit dead end after dead end, even with the outside help of Clear.
“Fuck,” Alex groaned, running a hand through his short blonde hair. Well, not so short anymore. He had to cut it soon.
Wendy strolled by, a package tucked under her arm. “What’s up with you?” She asked, raising an eyebrow. Alex shot her a look.
“You know what’s up, Wen. I’m still no closer to figuring out how to prevent these deaths,” he explained. Wendy’s expression changed to one of sympathy.
“You’ve got to relax. I mean, it’s our one off day, I’m sure it’ll be fine if you chill for today,” she said, walking to her and Kim’s room.
“Fuck…she isn’t wrong,” Alex said to himself. He yawned, shut his laptop, gathered all his papers into one stack, and laid down on the couch, letting sleep take over.
He didn’t know what time it was when he woke up, only the fact that Sam was standing over him, an excited expression on his face.
“Well, look who decided to wake up! You good?” He asked.
Alex rubbed at his eyes. “What’s going on? Why do you look so happy?”
Sam rolled his eyes and helped Alex up. “Whatever, as long as you’re up. I made dinner, come on,” he said, dragging Alex to the kitchen. Their fellow visionaries and respective sidekicks were either seated at the table or leaning up against the sinks, plates in hand. Kim looked at the two boys and smiled.
“He wakes, everyone! We thought you forgot,” she giggled, shoving something on a stick in her mouth.
Alex looked at her in confusion. “What? What is everyone talking about?” He asked. Everyone was acting super fucking strange.
Lori blinked at him, wrapping a strand of ginger hair around her left index. “Are you joking? Please tell me you are,” she said.
Alex crossed his arms. “What the fuck are you all talking about?”
Sam laughed, and Alex jumped at the man making himself known. “Alex. What fucking day is it?” He asked, hands on his hips.
“Uh…September 25th? I don’t follow,” Alex replied, still confused.
“Are you not forgetting anything?” Sam asked.
Alex tried his best to think long and hard, and…
Oh!
“Fuck, I forgot it’s my birthday,” he said, a little embarrassed to have forgotten his birthday. He knew that Nick was born May 22nd, Kim was born June 9, Wendy was born July 26 and Sam was born August 12; having done something for all of them, but somehow had forgotten his own birthday.
Nick snickered. “You forgot your own birthday?” He asked, to which Clear kicked him under the table. She faced her respective clairvoyant and research partner and smiled.
“I get it. I forget things all the time, too. Enough dwelling over what you forgot, and let’s celebrate,” she announced.
Molly walked over to him, a flat object wrapped in white paper. Everyone’s signatures; from Wendy’s neat cursive to Burke’s doctor like handwriting decorated it. Alex took the object and unwrapped it in a way that wouldn’t destroy the signature. As he did so, Kevin spoke up.
“We know it’s not money or anything…but we hope you like it,” he said, and went back to his staring contest with Wendy.
Alex finished unwrapping the gift, and he gasped in shock. Then tears of happiness sprung to his eyes.
There was a framed photo of all the visionaries, Wendy clearly being the one who was taking the photo as she held the camera above her head. It was from the time Nick had joined, completing the visionary team. He flipped the frame over, and there was a photo of the visionaries and their respective sidekicks. Underneath it was the words:
“To flipping Death off til the world ends!”
“I don’t know what to say…but thank you! Thank you all,” Alex said, wiping away his tears. Everyone replied with various “your welcomes” and laughter. After the laughter died down, Wendy spoke up.
“Well enough with the sappy stuff, let’s eat!”

Query: Q x 00 Agent- Ch. 18: Constant Warfare
Tumblr media
“Now he’s in Cuba,” I say as I hang up the phone.
Q gives me a confused look. “Does Mallory know?”
“Doubt it.”
“I think we should keep it that way.”
I do a double-take. “Wow. Quartermaster’s keeping secrets now, hm?”
“Learned it from you, darling,” Q replies with a slightly amused hint of a smile. “Are you going after him?”
I shake my head. “Bond can handle it. If Felix is helping him then I know he’s in good hands. Right now I need to stay here and keep an eye on M.”
“In that case-” Q looks at the clock and closes his laptop. “I say we clock out and go have dinner. It’s been too long since we’ve had a proper sit-down meal and I’ve been meaning to try a new recipe for weeks.”
The thought of food sounds fantastic. All day I’ve been too preoccupied to think about eating and the promise of Q’s cooking is too good to pass up. After Q packs his messenger bag and I my purse we step out and hail a cab. When we arrive to the cozy apartment all 3 cats greet us by sulking next to their food dishes.
“I guess they’re hungry too,” I joke. “Need any help in the kitchen?”
“Not at all, darling,” Q replies as he starts prepping some meat. “You go ahead and wash up. Dinner should be ready in about an hour.”
I can’t put my finger on it but there’s something up with Q. He’s got a mysterious look in his eyes that makes me wonder if there’s something I forgot. It’s not anyone’s birthday so what other occasion would I be missing? I take a quick shower, still puzzled over Q’s behavior, and go downstairs to find the table set and soothing music playing on the speakers.
“Why am I not surprised you listen to opera?”
Q looks up from the vegetables he’s chopping. “You should talk. I accidentally turned on your playlist and was overwhelmed with rock music blasting my ears off.”
I shrug. “If you don’t appreciate classics like Led Zeppelin then too bad. Can I help with anything?”
“I need you to sit down and relax,” Q instructs. “Then maybe turn on something to watch.”
“Are you serious? I can do something. I was asleep for 4 years, Geoffrey. I can do something productive besides sitting down.”
Q gives me a quick kiss to keep me from arguing further. “To put it simply I do my best work alone, both in the lab and in the kitchen.”
The hint clicks in my head and I nod. “Alright. I respect that.”
He squeezes my hand. “Thank you. For everything.”
I frown. “Everything? What’s that mean?”
“I mean for everything you do, whether it’s putting up with my odd habits or allowing me to be a part of your life.”
Q says it so simply but to me it’s a confession of deep trust and adoration. After 6 years of knowing him I can’t think of living in a world without him. When I woke up from my coma I thought things would change. They did, but in the best ways possible. If Q’s loyal enough to persevere life’s punches with me then maybe…
Beep! Beep! My phone goes off again and I see it’s an unknown number. Must be Bond.
“Levie. I’m sending you a signal for a camera here in Cuba. If anything happens then you must confront M immediately.”
Just like that I hear a ding from my laptop and see a new message. Bond hangs up and I click on the link. Sure enough an image of a fancy ballroom appears on the TV screen. Mindless rich folks wander about drinking and chatting while a band plays. Brilliant, Bond. He hacked into a security camera and gave me eyes and ears to everything.
“What program is this?” Q says from across the room.
“A gift from Bond. Tonight’s entertainment, if you will. We can still eat while we watch.”
My mind strays from the television as Q brings out the delicious-smelling food; a combination of stew, fresh apples, and deviled eggs.
“Wow! This is fancy.” I give Q a suspicious glance. “Seems too special to be just a regular dinner. Usually when you do this it’s for my birthday or you’re apologizing for something.”
Q chuckles and takes a seat next to me. “Actually, I wanted it to be special.” He keeps fidgeting his hands; a sign that he’s nervous. “I figured that, since Bond’s enjoyed retirement, maybe it’s time that we could-”
“Oh God.”
My train of thought derails when I catch a glimpse of the TV. Bond is standing in a sea of people crumbling to the ground as their faces seem to melt away.
Q gets confused by my outburst. “What? I mean, if it seems too strange-”
“Q. Look!” I point to the TV. The man sees where I’m looking and his face falls. “What in the name of Christ is that?” I ask in a shaking voice.
A few eerie seconds go by before Q answers. “Biological warfare.”
I need to make a call.
I don’t know how long it’s been. 2 minutes? 10 minutes?  I’ve been staring at the TV, which is not glitching with static since the camera was destroyed in the fight during Bond’s escape, and trying to get my thoughts together. Is this what M’s been so on edge about?
I take out my phone and start to dial while Q frantically searches on his computer.
“Moneypenny, Bond’s in a bit of a situation. What’s going on?” I ask in a stern voice.
“Just a moment.” I hear her click a few buttons. “Here. 007 can tell you more-”
Now Nomi’s voice joins the call. “Bond has, shall we stay, taken the liberty to step in. I’m afraid he has Obruchev now.”
That’s the bloke who was taken from the lab!
“Told you, Nomi,” I reply coolly. “He doesn’t play by the rules.” I hear her hang up. “Now somebody better start being straight with me or I’m going to be deeply pissed off! Tell me what’s going on! Who’s this Obruchev fellow?”
“Obruchev developed Project Heracles,” Q speaks up. “A bio-weapon containing nanobots that infect like a virus upon touch and are coded to an individual's DNA.” A dark look clouds his face. “This weapon is lethal to the target and their relatives but harmless to others. It’s far more advanced than any other bio-weapon I’ve seen.”
A new thought surfaces. “That wouldn’t happen to be connected to the smart blood program, would it?”
“Turns out M had sanctioned the development of Heracles off the MI6 books,” Moneypenny says. “Not even the Prime Minister knows about its existence.”
I swear M’s one step away from receiving my resignation! All this time I’ve been working for someone who thought a biological weapon wasn’t going to go unnoticed.
“I’ll admit it’s impressive on a scientific scale,” Q remarks. “But for military purposes it’s likely to adjust into the next gold rush, the new nuclear war race.”
“Exactly!” I slam my hand on the table. “I know we’re supposed to speak softly and carry a big stick but then us good guys are going to be outdone when the bad guys get a bigger stick! It’s just a constant battle of trying to have the biggest stick, and this new big stick is one that poses a threat to not just us but the entire world.”
A few moments go by and Q lets me drain my anger while he questions Moneypenny further.
“What happens now?”
“Right now you two should avoid coming in. M’s not going to be pleased when he finds out you’ve been snooping into classified files. I’ll continue to send what little I can.”
“Thanks, Moneypenny.”
Q turns my phone off and gives me a few more seconds of silence. We’re both thinking the same thing: we’ll never be able to have a normal job.
“I always thought something would prove me wrong about MI6,” Q wonders out loud. “That our government isn’t as corrupt as it seems. At this point not much surprises me.”
“You and me both,” I grunt.
“But do you know what goes unaltered no matter what?”
I look up with an unamused frown. “What?”
Q leans in to press a soft kiss to my forehead. “My love for you.”
This makes me have to suppress a small laugh. “Seems a bit cheesy, don’t it?”
“Not at all. Would you like a lecture, or a demonstration?” Q quirks an eyebrow.
His playful expression also holds a soft question of consent. I can’t say I’m not flattered by the suggestion. Neither of us had ever engaged in high levels of intimacy until after my coma. When Q first proposed taking our relationship to a further step I was hesitant. After seeing how dysfunctional Bond’s relations turn out I never planned on having a deep relationship. But after thinking it over I decided this was more than just a simple suggestion. Q’s not the most emotional person and being the one he’s willing to go further with is an honor all on its own. I share his trust and didn’t see a reason to decline.
“A demonstration might be called for.”
Q’s face lights up, though still with a hint of anxiousness, and he takes my hand to lead me up the stairs. We’ve previously established that he’s in no physical condition to lift me bridal style.
“Are you nervous?” I ask.
“Um, a tad bit, yes. I- I know our relationship has established good communication and I really adore it, but I still get worried that I won’t be… good enough.”
I make him stop before we reach the top of the stairs. “Geoffrey, you have nothing to worry about. This is new to both of us and we both know our affiliation isn’t based purely on physical aspects. I loved you before I even thought of those things. You have nothing to prove to me.”
Q closes his eyes and nods, seeming to lose part of his nerves, then pulls me in for a simple yet grateful hug.
“Thank you, darling. That means a lot to me.”
Yes, the threat of biological warfare looms over our heads and Bond’s words of warning still ring in my ear. But as long as I’m with Q the whole world could fall into an apocalypse and I would still be happy.
“Never a dull moment with you, Q. Now how about you get started on that demonstration?”

Jack and the reader get into an argument because their schedules haven’t lined up in a while.
Sorry I've been so slow in posting this, been a busy week! Hope you like it anon!
You were both busy people, Jack had been consumed with promo interviews for his upcoming album and you'd been hit with a huge deadline at work, meaning the only time you'd see each other was when you were both laying next to each other in bed, a tired 'i love you' shared between you both before you took the time to rest. There had been a couple of occasions where you'd both had an evening free, but any plans made were ruined by either you needing to be at your laptop or Jack needing to finalise some stuff for the album.
You'd both agreed to clear your schedules one Saturday, agreeing to put work to one side for a day and just focus on each other. You'd set up an out-of-office on your emails and Jack had told his team that his phone was off for the day.
Waking up that morning you couldn't wait to start the day with Jack, breakfast in bed followed by watching movies and just enjoying each others company. Reaching over, your hand was met with cold sheets, Jack's body being long gone. The clock on your phone said it was 10:30 and so you assumed he was downstairs making breakfast. You quickly took care of yourself in the bathroom before throwing on some slippers and heading downstairs. You found the kitchen empty, no signs of Jack or breakfast. You made your way through the house, scanning each room before heading back upstairs. Your ears picked up on Jack's voice in his office, your stomach dropping at the thought of work becoming a priority on the one day you'd both taken for yourselves. You pushed open the heavy door and found Jack sat at his desk, glasses resting on his nose, phone pressed to his ear in one hand and the other running through his hair. His nostrils were flared and his eyes shut as his head leant back against the chair he was sat on, the laptop in front of his lit up his face as he sat in the mostly darkened room.
Watching his for a moment, you could feel the anger building inside of you. He'd gone against his word of turning his phone off and ignoring work calls. Jack's eyes opened again as he went to speak, his head tilting down and catching your figure standing at the door, your pyjamas wrinkled from your sleep.
'I'm sorry' he mouthed to you, shooting you a sad expression and resumed his conversation.
You shut the door, standing alone in the hallway as you heard him rant at whoever was on the other line. A sign left your lips as you made yourway downstairs and into the kitchen, cooking yourself breakfast for one along with a coffee.
It had been 4 hours, lunch time had come and gone and you were sitting in front of the TV in your living room with a cup of hot tea, watching a series you'd wanted to start with Jack for a long time. As you sat, you heard the door to the office open, footsteps coming down the stairs before Jack's figure appeared in the doorway. You didn't look at him, you were so upset and you wanted him to know that.
'Babe I'm so sorry. Neelam kept calling my phone i forgot to turn it off last night. Someone tried leaking the album and-'
'As annoying as that is, I'm too upset to talk about it right now Jack'
'Excuse me?' his demeanor changed instantly, his posture straightening up.
'We had this day booked off all week, no work calls we promised each other. Clearly your work is more important than I am.'
You understood how annoying and frustrating it is for the album to be leaked so close to the release date, and you wanted nothing more than to know the ins and outs of what had happened, but you were also upset. You didn't have any time off for another month now and by then Jack would be going on tour.
'The thing I've spent the last year working my ass off on just almost got released before I wanted it to and your more concerned about a few hours of me being on a call trying to fix it?' Jack was offended, you could tell and you didn't blame him one bit.
'It's not the point, surely your team could have dealt with it without involving you. You told them about today, right? Couldn't they have dealt with it and then told you about it tomorrow?'
'I can't believe you're actually saying this. I thought you'd understand. It's only 3pm we have all evening to do something!'
'just forget about it Jack' you turned away from him, you knew it was petty but you didn't care in that moment.
'whatever' he turned and left the room, you heard him head upstairs and slam a door shut.
Another hour passed, Jack in your shared bedroom and you in the living room. You began feeling guilty, you felt for Jack but you'd let your upset and anger take over the situation when you realised now you should of been more understanding.
Walking upstairs you prayed Jack was in a forgiving mood. You shuffled your way into the bedroom, the room was everything you'd pictured it to be when you'd both bought the home. The bed sat in the middle of the room, bedside tables either side with everything you both needed in and on them. A large dresser sat across from it with doors either side, one to a large bathroom and the other to a walk-in closet. The wall on your side of the bed was floor to ceiling windows.
Jack was angry, more so at the hacker that had tried to leak his album, but also at the entire situation. He thought you'd understand but he also recognised that you'd both needed this day together more than anything. After some time checking everything was okay with his team, he got to running a hot bath, adding all your favourite soaps and salts and lighting candles.
That's how you found him, flicking the lighter on the last candle and placing it back on the bath. He turned to leave the room, finding you stood there and sent you a soft smile.
'I'm sorry' you both said at the same time, a short 'don't appologise' coming from both of you before you broke into laughter.
'I thought I'd make it up to you' he gestured to the bath behind him 'and ordered us some food, should be here in about an hour'
'Jack, I'm the one who should be doing this for you, I was so selfish to think the album being put out wasn't as important as a morning together. I'm sorry'
You both shared a soft kiss before getting into the bath together, Jack telling you all about the hacker before you both agreed no more work talk for the night.

I've always wondered what it's like to have someone beg for you to stay in their life. Someone who would do anything just to get you back after a stupid argument.
My whole life I begged for someone to stay by my side so I wouldn't be alone.
I begged my mom to remain yet she left without a care in the world with her new family.
I begged my dad to stay with me yet he didn't even bat an eye towards my direction as he drove off with his mistress, never to be seen or heard from again.
I begged my siblings to stay by my side when my life went downhill, yet they just laughed at me and made sure to never contacted me again only when they need help.
But once I finally found him, the Izuku Midoriya. My life changed for the better with him by my side. He has slowly introduced me to his group of friends, especially his childhood and best friend, Dynamite and Shoto, they are all very nice and have interesting stories to tell. I knew that I now have people in my life that won't ever hurt me. Dynamight and I became very close with one another as we worked on several cases together and to be honest, we make an amazing duo. Same with Shoto, even though he doesn't really show his emotions that often, it's nice to have a logical conscious around.
Izuku and I have been together for 3 years ever since and nothing would ever come between us, or so I thought.
Our relationship slowly started to change for the worse, he would come home, give me a peck on the cheek and go to his office. He wouldn't even stay in the room with me unless it was necessary. He is always cooped up on his laptop doing the reports and important documents even at home. I don't think he realised that there was a sudden change in his moods or the way he’d come home smelling different. Of course, I’d notice the small details. I'd usually message Dynamight or Shoto on how he is during work and to keep me updated if anything happened.
Yes, I know that being a hero is very hard and tiring but so am I, I do as much hero work as him every day and night, and I made sure that I had time to welcome him back home, I made sure he ate and slept even with a hectic schedule.
But I felt like he slowly forgot about me, about us and what we have been through together.
Does he still love me?
Why is he still with me?
Does he have someone else?
Is he cheating on me with Uravity? (I'm sorry to uravity fans- lol I'm not sorry HA!)
I let these thoughts run around in my head as tears run down my face, maybe I’m just overreacting. Yeah. I'm just overreacting.
Looking at the hanging clock I saw that it was 7 pm, he is probably making his way back home. I don't know what to do with myself.
Do I confront him?
Do I just ignore it?
What do I do?
Taking a quick breather I heard the door open with a familiar jingle of keys and a sigh “y/n I'm home” says the man who I can't even recognise anymore.
It's always been a nickname.
“Babe”
“Honey”
“Sweetheart”
“Love”
But it was just “y/n”
What happened to the man I fell in love with?
What happened to the man that I gave my heart to?
What happened to my Izuku that held my face as he proclaimed his love for me?
What happened to MY izuku?
“y/n? Are you okay?” Izuku says as he kneels to catch my gaze as he held my knees.
“y/n?”
I knew something was wrong.
Please. Please, God. Anyone. Anyone who’s listening. I don't want to hurt anymore. Please…
Slowly looking up to meet his gaze, I ask the one question that I know will break me, “are we okay izuku?” as I saw his features go from a warm yet soft look to shock and disbelief.
“What brought this up?” he asked like I'm some kind of idiot.
“Do you still love me like you did when we first got together? Do you even know when our anniversary was? Do you even remember your s/o? Do you still love me?” looking down at my lap, whispering all the questions eating me alive, wanting to find the answers I wanted to hear from him yet. Nothing. Nothing but silence from him.
“Izuku, please. I don't want to stay in this relationship when it's clear to me that you don't. I don't want- I don't want to be at home watching the news on how you and another hero would look good together, I don't want to be at home while watching you realise that you've fallen in love with someone else, I don’t want to be at home while you forget about me and everything we’ve been through. So please Midorya. Tell me what's happening so we can either fix what's left of us or I let you go”
I knew what his answer would be. All these years being together, I knew him like the back of my hand. I knew this silence all too well.
Izu- no its Midoriya now. It always had been Midoriya, never Izuku. Never my Izuku.
I pull out my phone and text Tsuki to come to get me from Midorya’s place.
“God fucking damnit, I-” standing from my seat to walk over to our bedroom to pack I felt him wrap his arms around my waist as he buried his face into my stomach, feeling the tears soak through my shirt.
“I'm sorry babe, please don't go. Please stay. Please. She was just a fling nothing else! Please stay with me. I need you” he begged me to stay, and he finally begged me to stay. But for what? For him? For us? What's left of us?
If I didn't know better, I would've agreed with him and stayed but now, things are different. This wasn't the man I wanted to have a future with. This wasn’t the man who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Not anymore. All I see in front of me was a man that I don't recognise, a man who I was in a relationship with who was no longer the man I fell in love with, all I see is a lying, cheating man who broke my heart, stringing me along until he encounters “someone else”. Someone “better”
The man that I gave my heart to, so long ago was replaced with a man who didn't care for me at all, a man who would leave me all broken with nothing but a shattered heart.
I deserve to be happy, I deserve all the good things in life and make sure he goes through the same pain I went through.
I knew the longer I stayed in this apartment the faster I want to leave.
I removed his arms around me and sped walked to the bedroom locking the door and packing as much as I could fit in my suitcase.
I knew that there was no us, there was no more love in this relationship.
I unlocked the door to see him on the couch, covering his eyes as tears descended from them.
“Go be with Uravity, since you've always gone to her behind my back Midoriya” stating that I knew he had been cheating on me with her, yes I'm sad about being cheated on but at least I made it to the top 5 heroes without sleeping with the judges.
Hearing knocking on the door I knew it was Tsuki so I hurriedly rush towards the door to open it. Turning back to face Midoriya “You might want to get tested for any STDs considering that your side piece sleeps with a LOT of people. OH and I’ll grab my stuff on Thursday” Tsuki grabs my suitcase for me and wraps his arm around me, like a comfortable, muscular shield as we leave this dreaded apartment. Once we left the apartment, all the tears I'd held back rushed to the surface as I sat down in Tsuki's car, weeping my heart out for the love that I had lost, in his arms keeping me from any danger. My heart hurts so much. Knowing that I was easily replaced.
Katsuki’s POV:
My heart hurts for them, but I knew how this all felt. Watching the love of your life fall in love with someone else who doesn't deserve them at all and watching them get broken hurts so fuckin’ much.
I didn't care how many people were watching us in the car park, all I wanted to do was hold them in my arms and keep them protected from anything that could potentially harm them.
“Let's go home idiot” releasing them from my arms as I secure their seatbelt and put mine on, we headed out to my apartment where they’ll stay for however long it'll take for them to heal even if it takes years. I’ll always be by their side.
“Thank you, Katsu” they whispers to me as they slowly drifted off to sleep
“You’re welcome… dumbass… my dumbass. I’ve waited 3 fuckin’ years for you, I guess I can wait for a couple more” I mumbled looking back to them knowing that they won’t hear me.
Third’s POV:
But little does Katsuki know, y/n heard what he said and couldn’t believe that all this time. Katsuki fuckin’ Bakugou was in love with them. But decided it wasn't the right time or day to say anything after the whole Midorya situation. I guess time will tell when both Katuski and Y/n realise their true feeling.
-Meanwhile-
Midoriya sat in his apartment, thinking of ways to get his precious y/n back into his arms. Knowing that if they don’t come back. He’ll just force his way to get y/n back in any possible way.
The end?

I always have pizza on Tuesdays, and the oven is usually already on for my mum's burgers, so like. I forgot to change the time of my laptop for the daylight saving crap, so I thought it was an hour later than it was. I then proceeded to put the pizza in the oven, set a timer for 15 minutes, and then go back to get it, only to realise at that point that the oven wasn't on. And then getting really confused as to why my mum wasn't cooking her dinner yet before looking at the clock properly and remembering humanity's petty meddling with the complexity of time😔

41 and Andy
I love a domestic Andy! Thank you so much Love.
Number 41- Comfort Food
You glanced at the kitchen clock hanging above the sink to see the late hour, making you sigh just a bit.
Andy had been working himself into the ground, even now you could see his slumped shoulders over the laptop and the computer's artificial glow glaring too harshly in the dark kitchen.
You eased the dimmer lights on, making Andy blink tiredly at the screen to look up at you. "Hey Sweetheart, did I wake you?"
"No, I didn't even hear you come in. I just felt for your side of the bed, it was cold. Figured I better come check on you." You said gently while brushing a hand through his hair, admiring how his tired eyes slid closed at the pleasured sensation while an arm wrapped around your waist.
"I just barely got home, this case Y/N... I can't wait till this Langley is convicted. The shit he has done." He almost growled in anger, your eyes falling to his computer screen to see a cocky-looking bastard, Andy having several notes written. All dark, all dangerous accusations and evidence he was sorting through.
You went to change the subject, bring him elsewhere. Andy was a man who dedicated himself to his work and sometimes it took him down a dark path that made you worry. "Have you eaten yet?"
"No, haven't had time."
That didn't surprise you, he would go all day on just a yogurt if someone didn't make him stop. "Well you are in luck, I happen to have your favorite." You slid from his hold and tugged on his sweater to tug him away from the laptop.
Of course, he followed, sure he was a man dedicated to his work, but you, well you were just about his everything. That one person who could drag him out of the slums of his work. "We already know what my favorite thing is Sweetheart." Large hands grasped your waist to perch you onto the kitchen counter and invade your space, making you laugh at his sudden playfulness as if he forgot how tired he was. "You."
"Yes, trust me I'm well aware Andy." Your hands swept up his chest as his beard dragged in the curve of your neck, being soothed by his kisses as his hands worked under your shirt. "But I mean your comfort, it makes everything better food."
He muttered in your neck. "Potstickers from Sunny Gardens?"
You giggled. "Mmmhm. How about potstickers now and we can have this as dessert later?"
You felt a deep inhale against your skin, his chest pushing against yours and his pause seemed to give you an answer. "Woman, you somehow persuaded me."
"It's a talent." You winked at him while your foot connected to the nearby fridge door handle to push it open, encouraging him to grab the food.

maybe (kurt kunkle x fem reader)
Tumblr media
this one is a bit boring ngl, i needed a nice wrap up to the angst of the last few parts. just smut references in this one.
kurt didn’t stay the night with you. he got you into bed, helped you get dressed into your pajamas and kissed you goodnight. you guys barely exchanged words from the car ride to him walking out your bedroom door.
“hey,” you called out as his foot touched your hallway floor.
he anxiously stepped back in.
“call me in the morning?” you asked, poking your head up from your comforter. “like normal?”
he nodded and left.
you never got that call. no texts either.
you remembered everything in the morning, angry that your brain would let you even have a single memory of fighting. you showered, trying to destress from the worry, trying to distract yourself. your head raced though, the hot water or blasting music not settling you like you hoped.
you made a bowl of cereal, played on your phone, watched tik toks until your brain could bleed. you even played on your laptop, bringing up old games you sue to play as a kid to make you happy.
didn’t work.
you hung out in the living room with your roommate even though you loathe the idea of being around them. they made you feel weird and stupid, only having you around so they didn’t have to pay such a big amount in rent. they actually asked you about kurt and it all came flooding out.
“i’m sorry,” they said, their body laid out on the couch opposite to you. “you aren’t in the wrong, if that helps.”
it didn’t.
then you went on a walk. thought that being outside would change your gloom, the sun shining and the birds chirping. you watched the cars pass by and the school kids walk home. the whole time your brain kept telling you that phone call was gonna turn into an afternoon one. it was already three pm, maybe he just forgot and would remember around now.
he didn’t.
the clock soon turned to seven and you threw yourself on your bed, angry and hurt. you turned your head to see one of his stupid kurtsworld sweatshirts on the floor.
“fuck you,” you whispered in disgust, turning your head back to the ceiling.
this genuinely felt like bella in new moon, waiting for edward’s answer as time passed on. you finally understood her pain, even if you had only waited since ten in the morning and she waited months… same thing.
you just sighed out with a huff until you were interrupted by buzzing in your pocket. you had never moved so fast, reaching to your back pocket and squealing.
it was just alison.
“hello?” you asked, obviously annoyed that it wasn’t kurt.
“hey uh,” she took a pause for a moment. “how are you doing?”
“i am okay, thanks for checking up,” you sighed. “i am so sorry about everything last night. i was just having a hard time and i hope i didn’t make you feel like a babysitter or anything.”
“oh no, i was glad i was there for you,” she sounded sincere. “i saw you and kurt fight in the driveway, i just felt so bad. are you guys alright?”
you didn’t want to answer. you wanted to hang up, call kurt and cave in.
“yeah,” that was a lie pulled straight from the depths of your ass. “we talked it out, got it sorted.”
“that’s good,” you got up and started pacing as she talked. “i just called to check up and stuff. my flight is friday if you want to hang out sometimes before that, maybe have a better time just the two of us.”
“yes, that sounds nice,” you giggle. “actually have a proper hangout with my bestie.”
she giggled on the other line and you both talk a bit more before you told her that you had to go. you said your goodbyes and hung up.
you threw your phone onto the bed and just put your hands on your head, fingers interlocked with each other. you stared up at some of your posters, the likes of the stranger things characters staring back at you. eleven gave you this cold hard stare, her hands outreached. you felt weird just staring at them, their eyes locked on yours.
you threw your hands down to your side and looked at your purse, your keys spilling out the side of it. your inner monologue was telling you to get in your car and knock on his door, tell him you were sorry for being jealous even if you weren’t. a lie that could fix your relationship is better than being honest and ruining everything you built up to this point.
you bit your lip in temptation, your eyes stuck on the silver metal.
what if he wasn’t home? what if he was spreeing?
“then you could just drive away,” you answered your inner dialogue out loud in a whisper.
you quickly stuck on your ugg boots that you used like slippers, grabbing your phone and keys. you marched out to your living room, opening the door.
“where are you going?” your roommate asked.
“i’m gonna find kurt and apologize,” you then walked out of the door, slamming it behind you.
-
as you approach his house, his car was parked in the drive way next to his mom’s. you signed in relief, parking next to the sidewalk. you felt anxious, shaking while you take your keys out and turn off your lights.
suddenly this didn’t feel like the right thing to do anymore.
that didn’t stop your autopilot setting as you opened your door, sticking your foot out of the concrete.
the walk to his door seemed long, miles and miles long. the lawn seemed to keep stretching, the entrance just out of your reach. heart racing, fingers fidgeting, you got to the door. you knocked, shocking yourself. you didn’t even realize what you did until you did it.
after a few seconds, his mom opened the door.
“oh hi, (y/n)!” she greeted in a cheery demeanor. “kurt didn’t tell me you were coming over.”
“oh uh,” you let out a breath. “he doesn’t know i’m here. sorry that it’s late but i need to talk to him.”
“yeah of course,” she smiled, gesturing you to come in. “he’s in his room, he just got home a few minutes ago.”
“thank you,” you smiled and your feet bright you in, robotically moving to his room.
you listened in for a second, music loud and blaring through his speaker. you gulped and took a few deep breaths, knocking on the door.
nothing.
you did it again after a minute. he never responded to the next.
you got overly worried, what if he was with someone already? what if he was busy with something? maybe this wasn’t right.
you went to turn away but saw kurt’s mom looking at you from the kitchen. you quickly just turned the knob out of anxiety, rushing in and slamming the door behind you.
“what the-“ kurt yelled from his bed.
“sorry,” you yelled over the music, face full of remorse.
he quickly got up, just dressed in his boxers and socks. you took in the view, scanning his body as he went to turn his music down. the room was dark, his led lights set to purple. his room was a mess, the first time you had seen it messy. his clothes were everywhere, lining his carpeted floors and even strung around his chair.
“what are doing here?” he asked, obviously annoyed.
“well… i… uh-“ you didn’t know what to say. “i-i got worried. you didn’t call me like you said you would.”
he scratched his chest and just looked at you.
“didn’t think y-you wanted to talk to me,” he sighed. “i was busy from like nine today.”
you nodded, your purse clutched between your fingers. you looked down at your feet, nervous to look at him again.
“i got nervous,” you mumbled. “thought that you were-“
“what? fucking alexa jones?” he said in an almost snarl. “making only fans content?”
you felt so guilty for everything again, your shoulders weighing heavy.
“i’m sorry for how i acted,” you kept your distance from him. “i’m sorry for smoking and not letting you know beforehand. actually, im sorry for even doing it at all… it was messed up.”
you sat there so timid and he stared at you, his eyes softening at your apology. he felt guilty as well, he just didn’t let it peer through him like it had covered you.
“okay,” he said. “i-it’s okay.”
you looked up at him, orbs melting into each other. you needed him. you needed him so bad in that moment.
“i realize i was being harsh about the weed,” he ran his hands through his greasy hair. “i just get scar- nervous that you are gonna mess up or something. i just start to remember what my dad is like when he is high. he gets mean and a-aggressive… then you got mad and threw your shoes… it was a lot for me.”
you nodded.
he walked up to you, his hand grabbing your bicep. you felt entranced in that moment, your body tensed at his touch. you wanted him to be all over you.
“but the alexa thing was over the line,” he didn’t even stutter. “i left you with your friends because you seemed to have fun with them. she just seems to be a person with a flirty personality. she didn’t want me (y/n), i wouldn’t do anything with her. “
you looked at his lips, pink and soft. he had stubble on his face, more apparent than it was last night. you looked down to his neck, your fading love bites still apparent. you couldn’t help but to bring your finger to one and then draping it down to his chest hair.
“can i make it up to you?” you asked, your eyes wide at how sexy he looked right in front of you.
“uh,” he laughed awkwardly. “how?”
you dropped your purse, yanking off your boots and throwing them all to the side. you pulled off your zip up jacket, pulling off your tank top as well. you were left in a bra and short jean shorts, ass hanging out slightly. he looked at you, his eyes wide.
“like this,” you push him onto the bed, his face shocked.
and that night you both had the best sex of your relationship so far.

The Sexless Storyteller
Tumblr media
Chapter 2
Jacking off with someone else was more exhausting than I thought.
Rod made me feel lucky. He woke up before me and wrapped me up in a blanket. I woke up on the same chair with some freshly brewed tea. I stuck around for a while and talked to Rod. I felt rude leaving without at least a lil talk first, little did I know, when I asked Rod about the collection of snow globes around his room, that I’d get an explanation that would last the next hour.
I resided myself to writing and sending my smut tomorrow morning instead of tonight. Besides, Rod was cute when he got excited.
I woke up the next morning and spent a few hours typing up every hard, wet, juicy detail.
I changed our names, and made sure to exclude any details that might make either of us recognisable. I proof read it a few times, and sent it straight through to Stress Relief magazine, with the story title, Diaries of a Sexless Storyteller.
Alliteration ☺️
A few hours later, I was hired.
They loved it, and said it’ll be published tomorrow as a tester for their audience.
It’s time to go back to real life. Assignment due dates, three hour lectures, and a depleating bank account.
A few days pass before I get a text from Rod, “This is crazy! Your article is the most viewed web page in the magazine’s history! Everyone’s talking about it all over uni! I’ve never had this many people talk about my cock at once!
I quickly type back that I’m sorry, but he replies with a laughing emoji, “Don’t be sorry! It’s not like anyone knows it’s me! Besides I enjoyed being your reference material.”
I felt my boxers soaking while reading that last text. As if it was clock-work, I got a notification from my bank saying I got a deposit from the magazine.
Money! I can buy food! I can buy more lube!!!
I didn’t have much time to dwell on it before class ended, and I had to rush to the library to meet a classmate from another class for a study sesh.
Heidi and I had met last semester and we hit it off immediately. We had a similar style of writing that focused on character development over plot, and enjoyed the same novels.
We met and caught up a bit before opening up our laptops to start studying. I wasn’t expecting it but Heidi quickly shut her laptop after a second of opening it. Clearly trying to hide the screen but she was too late, of course I recognised the webpage article, I wrote it!
But she didn’t know that, and I had to keep my cool, so I pretending to not notice the abrupt reaction.
I focused on opening my own laptop, reading through some emails, and noticing that I got one from the magazine.
“Congratulations on your first published piece! We can’t wait to see the next one! How does the end of this week sound for your next deadline?”
The next one??? My palms started sweating and my brain started rushing. I forgot that I’m gonna need to write another piece and soon!
There’s no way I can recreate that success without more reference material!
I can’t just keep going back to Rodrick! He’s gonna eventually start feeling like I’m using him.
What kind of mess have I gotten myself into?
