Nightmare has lived happily with his three cats, Dust, Killer, and Horror. But one day he comes across a poor dog in need of a home, and hey, he could always use a guard dog. But will his three cats get along with the newest member of the family?

A short but cute fic, I enjoy the concept behind it! It's a little unusual to find a fic where most of the characters are animals, but the author does a good job of writing the characters regardless!

Spoilers ahead!

I think it's a really cute fic with an interesting premise, having Cross as a dog in what was previously an all cat house.

The way the author writes the characters makes it known what they think & how they feel even without any dialogue spoken between them.

You narrow your eyes, feeling the heat of his gaze and challenge in his words. “Did your father send you here to leave me a message? Pretty embarrassing not to confront me himself, if you ask me,” you finally bite back, your voice edged with defiance and irritation.

The gravel crunches softly under your heels as you turn away, desperate to put some distance between you both. Eris’s expression shifts, a flicker of something unreadable crossing his face. He mirrors you, taking a step forward for every step you take away from him. Even with your back turned to him, he's determined, his presence commanding.

 “Where are you going? To go retrieve those bastard watch dogs of yours? Don’t tell me you’re scared of me.”

His words strike a chord within you. Just as he expected them to. You stop, your wings slightly flaring out behind you and his eyes linter on them longer than they should. Phhhhbbbbb. Haircut aside, this has been a dumb day. We had a big demo for the enormous already-crunch project I'm on, and it turns out that a bunch of us all working on the same file caused some stuff to last-minute break right before said demo.

So now we're in more chaos crunch. Probably gonna be on the clock till like nine tonight. 🙃
