the fact that it is melshi that retrieves jyn from wobani is now even more awesome. he has done a prison break before from an imperial labor prison before. what a nice detail that smooths right into canon effortlessly.

Wild hopes for Andor S2:
Oh, apparently blorbo *might* be in the trailer? Riding a speeder on Dantooine you say? Aughhhh don't toy with my emotions like this!!
So for posterity, before anything about s2 does actually become clear, my vague hopes/'if I got to write their story' headcanons for my Ferrix badasses are a jumble of the following:
I don't see them immediately going back to Ferrix, they're recognisable (Bix is known to the Empire, Wilmon will be known by association with Salman, Bee is known as Maarva's droid, they had an eye on Brasso as 'the big guy' even before he fucked shit up with the funerary brick...and I can't remember Jezzi doing anything specific but she'll have been seen round Maarva's home and funeral), and riot or not, I'd say the Empire will be in the mood to make an example of Ferrix rather than to go 'oops our bad we'll leave you in peace'. So it seems a bad idea for the fugitives to return there for their rebellion as soon as they've left.
On that ship we know there's a skilled electrician (Wilmon) and mechanic (Bix), and I've always presumed Brasso must know his way around a ship well enough to be able to take it apart, and that Jezzi has some similarly Ferrixian industrial skill. I thought it would be very sexy if they all got involved in making/repurposing tech for the rebellion. In my heart of hearts they're patching together the first fleet of X-Wings.
Orange. Ferrix orange (Brasso's felt jacket orange) and rebel pilot orange. And there's the shot of Cassian in an orange pilot's suit in the trailer. I just. I just have hopes. And dreams. And colour was so significant in Rogue One (the red of the force/rebellion...there was an awesome post on here pointing out way more examples than I'd noticed, but I always think of the lining of Jyn's vest). Maybe it's reclaiming Narkina orange, even? But the look of the Ferrix clothes reminds me so much of the OT aesthetic, I think that's got to be the more likely connection.
Bee? Kay? Do they meet? ಥ‿ಥ trying to suppress the thought 'what if Bee helps to make Kay possible?' but the thought has been thunk. (ETA: NOT into the theory that they're the same person that's not what I mean. I'm talking hardware donation. Wires and chips. Not personality)
Dantooine. Dantooine base. After all this time!!!! What Legends book did I first read about the base on Dantooine in?? idek but if I'd ever written the epic angsty plot follow-up to that one fic (only ever just one night) it would have involved the Ferrix gang making X-Wings work on Dantooine :') I have feelings about Brasso the wrecker learning to make things instead :))
It should go without saying that I want to see Bix channel her healing into getting stuff done and fucking up the Empire.
I guess my feeling is that if we're time-skipping over a five year period in a, what, 12 episode season? There's not time for a huge arc for all the Ferrix characters alongside everything else the show needs to cover. My cautious assumption is that this either means a load of them get killed off/sidelined early, or they're kept together in the same setting so their stories are interlinked, but presumably with focus remaining on Bix (and Bee). Dantooine/wherever the rebel base is beforehand/the move to Yavin struck me as a good place for this, where they can still be brought in and out of episodes through whatever time-skips happen because it's a place the title character is going to be coming and going from regularly, like Ferrix is in S1. Naturally it is a selfish thought to want to recreate the S1 dynamic :)) because I want my blorbo(s) to get to be relevant and a part of Cassian's life still, but if that suggestion about Brasso on a speeder on Dantooine in the trailer is remotely accurate then I will cry happy tears.
Who knows, if they get to survive, maybe all those heart-pulverising fics and fanarts about Cassian's (glass) stone being laid on Ferrix will find a place at the end of the series?

it starts and ends in a garden.
i keep coming back to the good omens mianite AU so have a funky little illustration :] I just. I just love them a lot
Ref + what story I've thought about below the cut!
(Spoilers for Good Omens S1 and S2 ahead, be wary if you haven't watched and wanna get into it without prior knowledge)
At its core, this AU is basically good omens but with the cast of Mianite, with a few revisions to tie it a little into the mcytverse (while also not like compromising the integrity of the show version of the story) I got inspired by AdamMonter's AU and decided I wanted to give it a go myself after i watched S2 and reawakened my fixation :D
Jordan is this universes Aziraphale- the angel stationed to guard Eden and look out for humans (intended to instill in them the ways of goodness through righteous balance and justice in the name of the High Goddess) - and Tom is Crowley, or the snake in within the Garden, sent up to cause chaos and tempt humans towards evil shenanigans in the name of Dianite, or the devil in this case. They stand on two opposing sides of whats meant to be an all out war between Heaven (under Ianite) and Hell (by Dianite) on whether Ianites form of order (borrowing this from Aitheaca) or chaos will reign supreme- or basically the big ol apocalypse. I made Mianite the Metatron because idk what else to do with him mianite im sorry i didnt wanna make ianite the metatron if i swapped it even though it would make more sense for mia and dia to be fighting SOBS
Tom n Jordan grow close over their centuries on Earth together that when everythings meant to go down and destroy the world they've made their own, they fight to stop the apocalypse from happening, and by the end of it, are subsequently punished by their respective sides- only to not be affected and left alone when they seem to have absorbed the powers of the other (no one seems to realize they can swap bodies). Series 2 follows what they uncover by the end of it a plot to restart armageddon, in which they want Jordan to take over as the head of it after the former champion/supreme archangel is ousted for disagreeing- and had shown up with a non-existent memory nonexistent at Jordan's.
(im switching to list im done with prose xD)
Jordan runs an antique shop instead of a bookshop, he seems like he'd be more into little trinkets and old school machines, stuff he could tinker with. its still got that certain charm to it though
Capsize is Nina from the coffee shop (give me coffee or give me death seems like a thing Capsize would name something) and Sonja is Maggie who runs a record shop. aka the lesbians from across the street you know what I am
For something hilarious Tubbo is the Antichrist, aka the child meant to start and lead the War (leaving it as is bc its funny but not the literal antichrist) He's meant to join a government family to put him in a place of power, but due to a mix up ends up with an In the meantime, Tom and Jordan act as godfathers to the other child (who they assume is the antichrist, it would be funny to make this Crumb or something) in hopes that influencing them to good/evil respectively would neutralize them out- only to eventually realize its the wrong kid
Wag is Anathema, the descendent of a prophetic wizard who was scrutinized for their foresight and becomes the carrier of those prophecies (for my sanity ive chosen to get rid of the Newt-Anathema romance thing idk it. it just aaaa and turn into wag and his bros aka FyreUK tryin to use what they know to stop the apocalypse from their end)
Angels are Ianitees (save for Capsize), and Demons are Dianitees. Ive gone back n forth with who would be who and I still have no answer so. all I'll say is that Andor is Muriel thats all thats important /j C:
The other option was to make Satan the Darkness/World Historian and Dianite is the Lord of Hell (Beelzebub) with Mot as Gabriel but do i look like I know? idk do we need ineffable bureaucracy i could always alter that a little too... idk
tubbo as the child of the world historian who wouldve thought… edit what if like carrier of the darkness
anyway thats all enjoy this nonsense ;)
and screenshot I referenced for the drawing! I know its low qual dont worry about it i just needed to see where the trees were so i knew how many to paint LMAO

anything you personally hope to see in season 2 of andor?
Warning, extended yapping ahead! 🗣🗣
CASSIAN TORTURING/ GETTING TORTURED SCENES, numero one. i want to see that man getting bent- i mean under duress🙏 him having second guesses on what he's doing, or how does this makes me him any better than imperial bastards he's fighting... shooting someone in the face is wholly different than getting up and personal to your enemy. i wanna see the indifferent mask of Cassian cracking when he's alone, the weight of blood on his hand (his and his enemies), the sleepless nights he has to endure because of it all. i wanna see that silent, micro acting he did so wonderfully again!!!!
Cassian in undercover mission like in rogue one, but in a more detailed, methodical manner like in Aldhani heist, only with 10x more cutthroat tension. from wiki it's said that Cassian is often tasked with one-man, borderline suicidal missions. i think Andor S2 can pull that solo mission off.
Further distrust and argument between factions of rebellions. maybe some are horrified when they see to what end Cassian and Luthen are willing to go for the cause. maybe they even reject working together with Cassian, choosing to do so in the most badly timed manner and leaving Cassian stranded in hornet's nest.
Mon Mothma meeting and conversing with Cassian, with dialogue implicitly admitting their respective sacrifices but never fully air them out.
More Mon Mothma's struggle in the imperial's heart, how she get to the point where she's finally out in the open for the cause. what kind of fallout she would have with her family? would her daughter and her husband accept this, or be her downfall? MORE MON basically
Cassian having big arguments with Luthen, where it leads to their separation. that or having Luthen die, making Cassian the unwilling legacy of Luthen's brand of revolution
General Draven/Cassian scenes :))))) i need Cassian being treated like a tool by Draven strictly out of necessity, not out of ill wish... yet that kind of treatment and toxic dynamic still impacts how they feel and treat each other. more Draven, more subordinate Cassian. one heaping plate full of ANGST please 🕺
Dedra dying, i like seeing her act and how much of a menace she is but that fascist fucker needs to be gone and i for one will be delighted to see her die on-screen.
another Syril vs Cassian scenes. i'll take any flavor, be it anticlimactic, be it ruthless, or an epic showdown, i need Syril to be taken down by Cassian
No Jedi/Sith/Force mention please PLEASE.
Cassian meeting Brasso + Bix again before he goes to die in Battle of Scarif. doesn't need to be literally before battle of scarif. Cassian implicitly saying goodbye to them, to the last living remnants of his life before he fully gave everything for the cause. (this one is fanfiction-esque but deal with me) i imagine with how fast-paced and secretive the Rebellion has to be, Cassian can only meet them years after the end of Andor S1. no coms, no updates, so it's a surprise for Brasso + Bix to suddenly have one alive Cassian in their presence. if you want it to hurt more, Bix cannot really talk to Cassian for long bc of her PTSD from the torture :')) i want to see Brasso + Bix reaction hearing the news about Cassian's death too.... oh im just torturing myself at this point but ahggg i want this so bad

I really hope Andor s2 would prioritize doing the original Andor S1 characters justice. Especially Vel, Cinta and Wilmon. I honestely need more absolute screen time for velcinta, but I'm kinda skeptical now...sad :(
Yeah I’m…..idk I’ve always been worried that this season could end up sidelining our season one favorites as it gets closer to the rogue one time and brings those guys in. I mean yeah this is cassian’s story and we have to see how he gets to where he is in that movie and interacts with those characters. And don’t get me wrong, that’s my favorite movie and I love those guys too. But don’t make me fall in love with like 40 new characters in the first season and not follow through on them fully!
Maybe they’ll all die in the first two arcs and we won’t have to worry about it 🙃🙃🙃

6: hardest/easiest character to write for?
Clark Kent, hands down, is the easiest character for me to write. I find it very easy to slip into his head and see how he ticks and what he'd do in various situations. Which is why he ends up in most DC fics I write, even when I don't plan for him to be there at first.
Hardest character for me to write is Sabine Wren (Star Wars Rebels). She's such a lovely and complex character with so many different layers (to borrow a description from the show, she's "so tightly wound") that capturing that in fic is . . . very complicated and requires a lot of thought to figure out what she's thinking, why, and how she's going to react to something. It's rewarding to figure it out! but whoof. the process of it is exhausting sometimes.
24: do you outline?
Yes! Though I'm not sure how much it counts as an outline lol. I tend to have a summary of what I need to accomplish in the fic, and then space it out and write around that outline, deleting outline sections as I write them. I'll also add to it as I go when I see how to connect two things but don't want to forget it - i.e. adding [Lois does journalist things to find info] so that I know what I was thinking when I get places. But it's not really a very rigid outline, I'm more of a plantser than a planner.
35: any foreshadowing/symbolism you wrote that you hope readers didn’t miss?
For foreshadowing, considering the amount of time I spent foreshadowing and setting up stuff in I wanted everybody else in the world to know it (but I ain't ever gonna let them take my life from me) I certainly hope readers picked up on what I was doing! Now I just need Andor S2 to come out so I know what I'm working with for some of the details of the first sequel.
For symbolism: I had a lot of fun with figuring out all of the things that Sabine and Ketsu painted and what they meant to each other in gonna find you in the night (come just meet me there), and I hope that readers picked up on that

Ok final TSR wrap up and thoughts moving into S3 below
Whatta book damn. RJ is genuinely funny to me and there’s a lot of like, physical and situational comedy that I hope carries through to S3 (Nynaeve throwing the collar at Moghedien, Elayne and her 2x4, nobody knowing what the hell anyone is ever doing). He’s also so good at just like, desperate crushing character moments, like the AoL Aiel, Aram taking the sword, the final Battle of Two Rivers.
Even more so than Rand this is really Perrin’s book. He has the most complete storyline, which is great for S3 but a challenge moving forward as he is literally not in TFoH, and doesn’t do much until Dumai’s Wells. He also fights a lot of Trollocs, like a lot. Every second chapter someone is fighting Trollocs. For timing purposes the show could easily cut it down to Perrin’s failed ambush, and the final battle. That would still get him to the Tuatha’an and the Whitecloaks while cutting out two or three skirmishes. Whether CGI or practical i’m sure the Trollocs would be expensive and they already got dragged for 1x08’s PS2 Trollocs, so i’d personally rather have them less but better quality. I could see him and Faile having a whirlwind “omg what did we just do” kind of wedding in face of all the Trollocs and not expecting to live, but I can also see that being pushed. I think this will be the bulk of the S3 time.
Rand’s storyline could really be two eps, there’s actually not a lot there once we get rid of the Stone (for now). One for Cold Rocks Hold leading to Rhuidean, and then one for the journey to Alcair Dal. Of course he’s gonna have more to do like argue with Moiraine about prophecy, and hopefully everyone will get some bonding time in Falme, but he’s mostly travelling which the show doesnt really focus on with their wild back and forth, and he also gets attacked by a lot of Trollocs. Lan also has nothing to do this book so sword and toxic masculinity lessons being pushed to S3 will smooth that out at least.
Egwene kind of has nothing to do this book so S3 will surely be her Dreaming, although I wonder in what capacity. Verin, Siuan, or the Wise Ones or even Aviendha could really be intro points. I also don’t believe she would pass by the Dominion Band two or three times without realizing what it is, so her intro Dreaming sequence is largely filler except for meeting Amys. Nynaeve has a line about Egwene waking up screaming from nightmares so i think she of all people would recognize it. She also has a few moments with Moiraine so Moiraine’s story will probably be focused on Egwene and Rand versus her own S2 storyline.
Much of Tanchico is through Elayne’s perspective, which pulls her into our main group. Nynaeve takes a slight backseat in PoV to balance it out. There will be a lot going on between Thom, Min, Liandrin, Moggy, and possibly Mat, (Egeanin?) but I think it will also be the smoothest to adapt as everybody has something to do already, instead of having to make stuff up to keep them moving together.
The leftover bit is the coup. Min not being there to rescue Siuan doesnt really matter except that someone will have to take her spot, as i dont think Siuan can do it herself. Gawyn seems a good choice to set up his inner conflict/indecision. The Blues could also just sweep them out on their way to Salidar. Siuan does spend a LONG time looking for Salidar, and as much as i love a good depression roadtrip this would cut time AND spare us Gareth if they could just go right there. Especially if LoC plotlines are coming in S4 we dont have time to wander the countryside and burn down a barn.
Anyways my inexperienced opinion is its actually not that much to get through, if you imagine one intro episode, 2 for each Two Rivers, the Waste, and Tanchico storylines, and maybe even one Andor/Tower focused. Two Rivers will wrap up in ep 7, and the rest in ep 8. I’m imagining the coup and Couladin will be the big season cliffhangers.

the way so many people are complaining, like, “this season lacked of stakes” (because there was no death??) and it’s like... when did we become so addicted to cynical pieces of media, expecting characters to die, for a story to have “stakes” or any emotional payoff? why, tf, are there people who can’t settle for a (temporary, because there is a s4) clear-cut happy ending? and i find it particularly ironic considering s1 and s2 also end up on a clear-cut happy ending but somehow it wasn’t “a lack of stakes” back then... *rolls eyes* i just feel like so many people forgot what star wars is: star wars is luke and han strolling randomly around an imperial base and finding leia just chilling even tho she is the rebellion’s leader. them escaping because obi wan bee-booped the right button. star wars is a bunch of teddy bears saving the galaxy. star wars is anakin skywalker pressing random buttons on a spaceship as a 10 years old and winning a war just like that. star wars is jar jar dropping a ball out of sheer clumsiness and zapping a whole bunch of droids just like that. star wars is grogu being captured by imperial guards on episode 7 of season 1 and being rescued by ig-11 not even 2 minutes into the final episode. star wars is nanny ig-11 just zooming around nevarro destroying the whole imperial army without a scratch to him or yknow, the baby he carried with him. did people forget how the other two seasons were also completely “lacking dramatic stakes”??? because they’re just there, i watched the two previous seasons just before s3 and let me tell you: they’re the same. the arc is the same: grogu (din on s3) gets taken on the penultimate (or one before on s2) episode, somehow the search party does everything right and everything is solved by the end of the season. even more than that, on s1 kuiil dies on episode 7, here, paz vizsla dies on episode 7. so. no death??? why is it a problem now? like?? no stakes?? a whole exiled people finding their rightful place on their planet and ridding their homeworld of the invader that is the empire, wasn’t enough for y’all?? like i get it, y’all love the depressing era of andor and all, which is fine, to each their own. but why does it prevent other shows of just being what they want to be? yknow, potentially goofy and yknow, actually hopeful? because we know how cassian andor ends up. he dies. it’s horrible, it’s sad, it’s depressing. like, are we really out there pretending that din and grogu’s storyline wouldn’t be as fullfilling because they don’t die in what is basically an atomic explosion or something???

The thing about Rogue One as a movie that even though I do love it, it's a bit in a unique spot. It's from the era when they made Star Wars spinoff movies, which then shifted into making shows instead. It basically has a movie-unique cast, but a tragic ending, but also leads directly up to episode 4 without being structured like part of a trilogy/series.
I've viewed its role as "prequel to episode 4/original trilogy" or potentially "bridge between prequels and original trilogy" but tbh it leans so much towards the original trilogy and has less to do with the prequels that I most often see it as "prequel to ep 4".
But I feel like, after Andor S1 and the announcement of Andor S2 being the last season + leading up to Rogue One; Now Rogue One as part of the star wars franchise has a completely new and clearer role
I feel like tonally it's going to function as a bridge between Andor and The original trilogy, showing where the fight against the empire will end up and lead into. But it will also be a finale of Andor, in a way.
Like Andor so far have been a story of the many faces of the rebellion, but with Cassian as a focus and his arc as a thread throughout. We have watched him at several occasions team up with a new group of characters to accomplish some type of heist/mission (Aldhani and Narkina-5 both kinda fit this).
So when looking at Rogue One through that same lens, it fits so well? Like the movie's use of instantly iconic characters that you only get to know for a short while, that you only get to know through the rebellion and this mission, feels even more like a consistent narrative choice instead of some flaw when seen in the greater context of what Andor is doing. The way we unfairly lose them to the battle against the empire in a way that feels that even feel unfair to us as an audience. Jyn being a mirror to Cassian becomes even clearer, and him inspiring her to rebel and lead (as he did with Kino) becomes even more of a solid characterization.
A good prequel is supposed to make the original thing even better, and Rogue One was that to A New Hope imo. But now, Andor has even become that to Rogue One.

some stuff i read and watched in september:
my brilliant friend (s1-3): had a bit of ferrante fever and rinsed through this, i think it's v well done as an adaptation -- it's been so long since i read the first couple of books that the casting of the lads made them feel much more vivid than i remembered, also i Need to go to florence
foundation (s2): honestly entertainment peaked with deranged space emperor clone lee pace spitting blood in ben daniels' face and snarling i fucking love it, hope to see it back in 2-3 years probably!
the gold: finally got around to this bc they were talking about it on the watch lol, very cool the way it sort of sprawls out from the original heist and just keeps going, classic dcoop sketchiness, still mulling over casting jack lowden as lymond bc what other blonde scottish actors even are there
starstruck (s3): ROSE MATAFEO FOREVER etc. this season pretty much an anti-romcom which i'm on board with, the friendship stuff fucked me up, not to get into but phew re: being single in your thirties while all your friends are having kids etc
passages: really liked this but somehow didn't love it quite as much as i expected to, franz ben adele perfect, whishaw really come full circle since basically playing the franz role in cock at the royal court lol, beautiful knitwear outfits homewares
the best years of our lives: like 3 hours long but doesn't feel it, quietly devastatingly empathetic story of returning ww2 veterans, i need to watch the five come back series on netflix bc william wyler is so so good
a haunting in venice: i would also like to go to venice, kenbran's having fun at least my dutch angle king, i hope they keep letting him make these forever although i also rewatched tenet and nothing here tops the part where he jogs slowly backwards through time
the broken hearts gallery: the best of a bunch of recent-ish romances i watched, geraldine viswanathan is a Star
michael clayton: somehow hadn't seen this before but very satisfying like corporate thriller, tom wilkinson and tilda are great, i want to rewatch andor now
elena ferrante, the story of the lost child: finally finished the neapolitan novels, fuck me up elena. can't think of a comparable series of like adult novels that go this hard for me, maybe st aubyn? yowl
colin walsh, kala: this ripped actually, loved like the irish specificity of the voices
james frankie thomas, idlewild: literally took critical damage every time i had to read the word HoYay but this was great and painful about like being a horrible little queer teenager and codependent friendships and livejournal and annotated fanfiction etc
marilynne robinson, gilead: ow i loved this, i think it's a real skill to make like goodness compelling, looking forward to being devastated by the rest of the series etc
sylvia townsend warner, lolly willowes: 🧙‍♀️🍂🌝
katie kitamura, intimacies: more things should be set at the courts in the hague tbh! made me think about translation a lot and also black earth rising
cat sebastian, we could be so good: sometimes you just want to read a gay romance about being in love with your best friend innit
operation mincemeat: omg i actually went to the theatre, this was silly and very much The British Hamilton but i loved it and i cried and i ordered drinks to my seat, 5 stars etc
the effect: i didn't see the original billie piper staging but i love lucy prebble and i loved this cast, literally paapa essiedu can do anything, kobna holdbrook smith reminded me that i should carry on with the rivers of london audibooks, one in a long list of signs that i should probably talk to someone about my mental health lol

Cassian sent Melshi to free Jyn, yes.
But also, Cassian just couldn’t possibly realize at the time exactly what he was doing.
He’d introduced arguably the two most important people at the end of his life: his best friend and the last woman he would ever love.
i love that they're exploring melshi and cassian's friendship. i'm hoping there's more in s2. it's what they deserve. cassian deserves friends. though poor melshi still thinks he's goddamn keef. cassian is clearly that 'must be level 15 to unlock actual first name' kind of guy and even then cassian isn't his real real name, you know. cassian is truly a mystery box.
(jyn and melshi probably would have been fun together)
it's masterful how they're folding canon back on itself with andor and rogue one.
because we see melshi sort of starting in the same place as jyn. he has very little hope of getting out of narkina 5. he has resigned himself to being forgotten and abandoned by the galaxy.
than cassian comes in with his ideas, his fervor, his belief and creates a plan. he reignites their hope.
if rebellions are built on hope than cassian is made of hope.
cassian andor is the bedrock upon which the rebellion is built.

@stripedroseandsketchpads tagged me in this. And oh my god. If you think there are Too Many Words in the fic I publish, you should see my poor notes app. Here is a sneak peek of its contents. I haven't edited for brevity/those I'm actively working on, these are just all the unfinished files I could find. Some I don't intend to do any more with, others I'd really like to pick up again. The only ones being actively worked on right now are the Andor Saga AU and the first one on the list for Andor.
I put ALL the Lymond I could find in mainly for @oughtaagh who has been leaving the most lovely comments on my Lymond fics that I have totally failed to respond to. I'm sorry! I will cycle back round to Lymond one day, it's inevitable <3
Tagging uh.... @distressednoise, @r0b0tb0y, @faceofpoe, @donnaimmaculata, @batri-jopa, @elwenyere, @notabuddhist and anyone else who wants to say I tagged them! Also sorry if you'd already been tagged, I'm not keeping up with the dash very well at the moment!
Anyway please send me asks/comments/cease and desist orders about these. xxx
ANDOR
C: We decided we were thirsty, and you wanted to go to Cavo's. As yet untitled Brassian alternative scene - what if instead of a great collaborative cover story this was a great collaborative fuck? Almost(?) finished?
Saga AU pt 2. This actually does have a working title of 'The Bear and the Berserk' but this doc is just a short bullet point list of plot things for a specific part of the fic.
Cassian pov. It's a Cassian pov chapter! For...drumroll...the first chapter of the Saga AU pt 2! The rest is going to be back to Brasso FPN. The file actually includes a rough first draft of chapter 2, as well.
"You're up early this morning," Bix says lightly. A follow-up chapter to Only Ever Just One Night started back when I had epic plans for continuing this, bringing in Cinta and Vel and Luthen, whumping the hell out of Brasso, and having Cassian rescue him. This is just one scene of awkward conversation with tea though.
Oh god it developed Plot. Related to the previous chapter - a bullet-pointed list of things that might have happened in this fic I Wil Not Write (not least as I'd rather just see what happens in S2 first anyway).
AND THEN WE DANCED
It was a sunny day in Batumi... Patchy few paragraphs of the next chapter of Inchoate.
Plannnnns (again). Plans for how Inchoate would/will continue.
THE LYMOND CHRONICLES
Canon-verse/other AUs
Multiple pieces of follow-up to The next man with a ladder, Danny/Jerott post-canon: It was dark when they rode into the port town... [Chapter 3, basically done, plus most of Chapter 4 but it devolves into broken paragraphs at the end]. "I'm going to the other bed," Danny said in a voice like someone was standing on his throat... [??? there's loads of this written! This is the file where they Get Down To It] Stitch the scenes together [a few paragraphs in which I hoped to make a logical leap from Chapter 4 to fucking, but seemingly never quite got there].
Lymondar saga draft. Actually two files of the abortive first effort at writing a saga AU. I was trying much harder to write in saga style and playing with lacunae in a way that was fun for me but exceedingly nerdy. I think I found the idea more fun than the execution, too.
St Seb. Remember ages ago when I was writing a post-canon 'Jerott gets shot full of arrows and has to admit his feelings because he thinks he's gonna die' fic? This is the file! Some bullet points and some text, some of which I even posted as Sunday sixes way back when iirc.
Fait prosperer qui n'est à croire vain. Fuck me, there's LOADS of this. Pawn in Frankincense/Ringed Castle AU where Marthe steals Lymond's ride with Kiaya Khatun and persuades her they should take over Russia together. Meanwhile Francis is left with Jerott. Hahaha. It kept getting longer because Francis kept trying to escape and I kept finding ways to drag him back, but the 'and now kiss!!' with the two of them behaving in character was just not coming easily.
Francis Crawford's Holistic Inquisition Agency. I wrote this??? One chapter of a Lymond/Dirk Gently AU, where Francis is obviously Dirk and Jerott is a furious/bemused Todd.
She tried every instrument, she redrew every chart. A few short chapters, never finished, of Marthe wrestling with her role in canon and her fate as assigned by La Dame. A couple more paragraphs of a similar sort of thing in Volos.
Malta. Half-arsed few paragraphs of wondering how Jerott would cope with meeting a fellow Knight being imprisoned for sodomy.
Band AU (my 1980s rock band AU for the series, see also @theartistknownaslymond)
Au of an Au. What if, after the Battle of the Bands at Solway, Jerott went to stay at the Edinburgh townhouse for a while and he and Francis got to collaborating in the shed? There's quite a lot of this and it's quite fluffy.
Out out out! The band celebrate Thatcher's downfall. Happy epilogues for everyone! However it's an epic task trying to do all the characters justice, so I was trying to write it as vignettes to match each song on the playlist. Six-ish are written. And earlier draft with plan for characters intercting is in Ding dong the witch is dead.
Jerott/Marthe - four times it just about worked, one time it really didn't. What it says on the tin? aka you just know Jerott has said 'Francis' instead of Marthe at least once when he comes. Only the beginning of the first time exists in this chapter, but I think I explored the idea elsewhere, whenever I dig up that file...
DWTH missing scene. Jerott/OC missing scene from Don't wake the house. Not finished, probably not going to be finished. I think I have enough Jerott smut on the go.
Workshop. Patchy draft of pre-canon Jerott and GRM 'therapy' session in which GRM learns about Francis Crawford and what a hold he has on the boy he thought of as his own plaything. GRM doesn't like sharing.
F/P. Draft of a fluffy kiss prompt someone (@erinaceina? @notfromcold?) sent for Francis/Philippa. Post-canon pregnant Philippa and worried Francis written when it was too hot in summer. It's probably complete enough to post tbh! hmu if you want it posting.
Jerott behaving badly (again). Somehow this ended up in the 'comfortember' section of the notepad, which...no? Maybe it was intended to be originally, but it grew a life of its own. Post-canon, post split-up with the OC, pre-getting together with Danny. Joining the mile high club and regretting it, then ending up crashing at Joleta's (who he meets coincidentally at the airport, NOT who he's screwing in the airplane loo!!). It's meant to end up cathartic, but didn't get finished :') I'm actually really pleased with what I have - post-canon Joleta is so much fun to write!
Somewhere (Google Drive?? an actual Word doc??) there is also loads and loads and LOADS of Pawn in Frankincense band AU around Baron Morgan's place (the Aga Morat), featuring fucked-up Francis/Morgan, fucked up Marthe/Kiaya, fucked up Francis/Kiaya, and bewildered cold turkey Jerott. There's also some Jerott/Marthe from later on.
Other
Crossover. A sequel to my ATWD fic I will shake mountains, where Merab and Irakli encounter celebrity diners in the restaurant they work in: respected musician Francis Crawford and friends take the boys for a drink and share queer/artistic inspiration/history with them. There's quite a lot written but I couldn't quite manage to finish it off.
St Mary's. Another ATWD/Lymond crossover, placing Merab and Irakli among the mercenaries of St Mary's. Mostly bullet points.
3m. Furious that there was no fic for the film Three Months I decided to jot down a scene I wanted to see afterwards. I wrote four lines and cannot remember what my plan was at all.

No, but
I am reading the novelisation of RO and !!!!!!!
I just am at a loss of words!!
At Jyn's blind denial of her own incapability to keep quiet and keep her head down
At Cassian's general ~waves hands~ poor mental health and YET
He still holds on to hope????! Smiles curiously at this woman who he barely knows and yet somehow feels connected to???
And when he dies he allows himself to be in the moment??! He dies CONTENT? And READY? And Serene???!
_shoves glass into my mouth_
*inhales*
I HAVE BEEN TELLING YALL TO READ THIS BOOK
i also found my copy of the book from my move lol and i just want to say this is why i am liable to throw a massive fit whenever i see someone wondering which character from andor cassian is thinking about on scarif when he's about to die when like *clears throat* the novelization makes my point for me, which is that all out-of-universe reasons aside (lol mainly that those characters did not exist back when rogue one was made) it is so important to understand that cassian is living in that moment - just aware of what he can see and hear and smell, and a lot of that is jyn - because of how he has always lived for the future and the past but finally, when he has completed his mission, he is able to just be in the present, take those last moments for himself and what he wants, a bit of peace.
her faith carries him with her aoijasoidjs like it's the poINT they're both able to heal and just be at peace (although I AM FIRMLY TEAM LET THEM LIVE LMFAO)
AND i'll even say that andor has made the case even stronger for cassian being very in the moment in the end. cassian climbs and climbs and climbs for the rebellion, losing pieces of himself (or having those things stolen from him), until he gets to enjoy his last moments with the woman he has welcomed home. i think of the way that the narkina arc uses going home as a metaphor for death (ulaf, then kino and even the rest of the prisoners many of whom we may assume didn't make it) and becoming one with the force and peace. i think of how cassian is always trying to get home in season 1 of andor, and i think of how he will inevitably lose all of his homes... until the hangar scene in rogue one when he welcomes home his mirror and his foil, jyn erso, the one who he is actually always able to come back for (because i have to assume he will not be able to come back for his friends in s2 unfortunately - because he has to lose everything).
the novel has so many great moments, thank you alexander freed good sir, you have done good work.

“What’s powering this?”
Rewatched the beginning of Rogue One yesterday, Andor tie-in speculation ahead, and the Rogue One tie-in prequel I completely forgot about after only making it through a few chapters back in 2016, Catalyst -
Two things that stood out watching Rogue One:
Cassian knows the name Galen Erso. He specifically clarifies with his source that it’s Galen who sent the pilot.
Saw’s line justifying leaving Jyn behind: That she was the daughter of an Imperial science officer and “people were starting to figure that out.”
Admittedly obsessed with the character of Luthen Rael and just What Exactly Is His Deal. And I think his Deal is that he must have been involved in Project Celestial Power with Galen Erso, back when Krennic was pretending it was more about using the energy of kyber crystals for good and less about blowing shit up.
And woke up one day and wrote an equation and bailed like Erso did but was better at hiding (because he hid in plain sight?). Maybe was involved in the ransacking of Jedi sites for the kyber (and snagged some precious artifacts in the process?) (and found one pretty stone with a rich history he couldn’t bear hand over and instead wears around his neck?)(maybe that prompted his own personal rebellion?)(maybe that he hopes will inspire the same in Cassian?). And used what he learned - the tools of his enemy - to power his ship and modify the shit out of it.
Perhaps he’s the “people” who started figuring out Jyn’s identity and wanted to use her. Perhaps leading to the big Alliance split with Saw. Perhaps tying into Saw’s state, mental and physical, in Rogue One.
And it’s interesting that the Rebellion so quickly locates Jyn. Because for Cassian to know the name Galen Erso... well. What if Luthen is (was? I have little hope for his fate in Andor s2) looking for him and keeping tabs on her in the meantime? Maybe he doesn’t know what the Empire is using him for, or can’t fathom the final scope of the project - but he knows it’s not good. And perhaps his push to accelerate the crackdown and stir up resistance is this looming ticking clock knowing Erso’s out there working on something.
Also of intrigue though I need to dive deeper: the concept of protected “Legacy worlds” and the Empire stripping them of their protections in the quest for Death Star materials. Specifically wondering about Kenari.

10 fandoms 10 blorbos, very belatedly responding to a tag from lovely @windsweptinred:
1. Bioshock: Mark Meltzer
Tumblr media
This man is the subject of my very first post on tumblr, he must be included here, I adore this sad fuck.
2. Homestuck: Diamonds Droog
Tumblr media
A toss up between him and Slick. I was and am a Homestuck Intermission girlie and this must be acknowledged.
3. Dragon Age: Justice
Tumblr media
I have many many Dragon Age faves and DAO and also Awakening is so so important to me, but Jorstin here is the fellow I have the most distinct and personal opinions about and is, aside from OCs like my Brosca Warden, Avi, the only one I have a strong rp/fic voice for. He’s such a weird and cool dude!
4. DC Comics/Animated Universe: Martian Manhunter/ J’onn J’onzz
Tumblr media
My BOY. I love him most in the VERY specific comic pictured above (1988 miniseries that establishes the Martian gods as being flaming horrorterrors, as we see in Sandman w/L’zoril Dream, it’s GOOD SHIT)—but also in general. Criminally under rated and under represented. A sad fuck, a shape shifting horror, a stranger in a strange land, a bereaved parent, Doing His Goddamn Best. AND sometimes a noir detective send up.
Anyway, speaking of comics.
5. Sandman: Dream of the Endless
Tumblr media
I am thrilled to be here in the year of our lord 2024 enthusing about and making friends over this scrunkly wet cat that I first encountered and dearly loved in high school. (I am more than halfway through my 30’s now, so it has been A WHILE). I’m counting Sandman and DC as separate affairs, sorry not sorry.
6. Our Flag Means Death: Izzy Hands
Tumblr media
Loved him even before S2, fascinated, I want to put him in a jar and shake him but also keep him safe forever. I am a little soured on the show after s2, but I have dressed up as Izzy and would gladly do so again so he belongs here.
7. Supergiant Hades: Achilles
Tumblr media
This SPECIFIC version of Achilles, who has died and continued growing through his pain and regrets and who is a surrogate parent to my BOI Zagreus, is. Fascinating. To me. I was so angry at first to find myself liking him as much as I did! It’s masterful how much characterization Supergiant implies with relatively little. He’s coming after Izzy on the list bc I came to them both in similar ways, looking at myself falling in love and going oh my god HIM? Seriously? And being like yup that war criminal there is my son now!!! (And now of course I’m fond of him all across the mythological/classical board, oh my god Hadesgame what have you done.)
8. Star Wars: Alexsandr Kallus
Tumblr media
The only space nazi redemption arc I will accept. (Although I am watching Andor with friends right now and three double agent gingers across the begins to suggest a pattern which is very entertaining to me.)
Anyway A+ arc, love this bastard man, love his giant cat husband, single-handedly keeping me invested in Star Wars, hope his gay happy ending never gets messed with.
9. Les Miserables: Inspector Javert
Tumblr media
Another character that I went oh my god REALLY??? That Guy??? About. But he’s so /funny/ in the Brick and Stars is lovely enough that I learned how to play barre chords on my guitar Just For That and look. Look. He is a bastard but he is MY bastard and I will read every redeemed!Javert fic that crosses my path forever the end. (Also a side note: Kallus was originally sold to me by @lokivangelist as “space Javert”)
10. The Witcher: Dandelion/Jaskier (all versions, but repping Hexer below because that’s my favorite!!!)
Tumblr media
Throwing a curveball for the last slot! I’ve got a sad dad/monochrome aesthetic/loyal right hand/shapeshifting nonhuman/rigid worldview kinda pattern happening above, and my boi here slip slides away from almost all of those. Except for the loyalty. This man is an absolute ride or die for Geralt and I love that about him. He is also an obnoxious fuckboi but I love that too, especially in a story as heavy as the Witcher frequently can be. (My runner up for this fandom was gonna be book!Lambert, who is similarly narratively savvy and good at puncturing the heaviness of a scene without being straight up comic relief.)
There they are! Ten blorbos, I climbed that whole mountain and now I’m heading to bed. (Will tag folks tomorrow perhaps? But also feel free to invite yourself in and do this and say I tagged you if you like, because I am curious what my mutuals and etc . might choose!)
